That figure makes it the biggest ever opening for a Disney Animation, as it sneaks just ahead of .

Despite a strong showing, it didn’t quite match Pixar’s box-office standards, with scoring a weekend haul of $66m earlier this year.

’s total wౠas no doubt aided by its wide appeal - adding nostalgic videogame fans to the standard family animation audience.

performed well in second place, taking £25m, and continued its more-than-decent run by adding $10.2m to its pot (taking it to $75.9m so far).
