<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> //344567.top 2025-06-04T21:37:04Z en <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the long-awaited remake that's easily among my most anticipated upcoming PS5 games, showed up during tonight's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:State of Play,൩ and there was an interesting tease of something right at the end of the trailer.

For a while, the latest Metal Gear Solid 3 trailer was pretty normal - at least by Metal Gear standards. There were stealthy shenanigans, some interesting cutscenes, and a healthy dose of action. After that, there was a whole section dedicated to the iconic Ape Esca♚pe crossover, which continues to look as peculiar as ever.

The trailer appears to draw to and end, but then we get a tease of something else. we get to watch a character merge out of the background, having hidden from our view by use of an impressive ghillie suit. As they drop to the ground, however, their entire appearance changes - instead of leaves and branches, they now appear to be 🍸nothing more than a cluster of rocks upon the ground.

That's bad news for the unfortunate goon who comes through right at the close of the trailer, entirely bamboozled by the camouflage. It's a little confusing - honestly, it's not ❀clear whether this is an ex🍰cellent active camo setup, or if it's a hint at some kind of online multiplayer mode.

Long-time Metal Gear Online player (and my colleague) Iain suggests that the small frog figure that gets collected in that clip is a Kerotan - the figurine you were tas🔯ked with collecting back then. And active camo also made an appearance in Metal Gear On𓄧line, suggesting that really could be the tease.

Either way, Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is set to launch towards the end of August, so I imagine we🎃'll learn a little♉ more relatively soon.

The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Summer Game Fest schedule 2025 has kicked off - albeit a little earlier than we thought it might.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Gaming's always embraced crossovers, ✅even before the launch of PS1, with apparently disparate IPs getting together in titles like Battletoads & Double Dragon. Later in the '90s crossovers started to really take off thanks to fighting games like Capcom's bouts with Marvel and SNK, and even manga character Gon's appearance in Tekken 3.

Suddenly the floodgates were open, and everyone had their own hopes for crossover games. Dream crossover♛s like Street Fighter Vs Mortal Kombat, Crash and Spyro, or Jak and Daxter teaming up with Ratchet and Clank, were becoming highly requested. Luckily for PS2 owners, one of the most obviꦇous crossovers ever came to be when Metal Gear Solid crossed over with… Ape Escape.

In Metal Gear, they ask you to say a lot of weird stufꦅf; you just sort of roll with it.

Okay, so, maybe Ape Escape and Metal Gear aren't exactly a destined duo. But for whatever reason, the powers that be decided that for the third entry in each series, Snake and the titular apes would cross paths. Reasons that even Snake's actor himself – Davi🦄d Hayter – was unaware of. "While we were recording MGS3, they just came in and handed me a script," he tells us, "and my first line was 'Snake Vs Monkey' and I could only ask, 'Why am I saying this?'"

The reason a state of emergency is declared: apes have escapeꦰd and fled to a Russian jungle, and the only people able to stop them – Spike and Jimmy – are away on summer vacation. With nowhere left to turn, the professor goes to Roy Campbell, who knows just the man for the job: the legendary soldier Solid Snake. Snake – begrudgingly – is ripped away from his own holiday at 2am and enters the jungle in search of Specter's mind-controlled simians.

"They just told me that𒐪 it was a side-game and that was all," recalls Hayter, adding, "Y'k💯now in Metal Gear, they ask you to say a lot of weird stuff; you just sort of roll with it." Sadly, aside from a small intro scene to set the stage, Hayter's voice talents weren't utilised during the minigame.

Snake Vs Monkey sends you through seven stages (each with a title that's a pun on a film's, such as 'Ape Fear' and 'The Apes Of Wrath') in which you must search for and catch those cheeky monkeys. It's a fairly simple minigame, reusing the level design and mechanics of Metal Gear Solid 3 in a faithful recreation of Ape Escape. It even features a level set in the field where Naked Snake and the Boss have their final battle in one of MGS' most emotional moments, now filled with funny little monkeys. Hayter muses, "Y'know it's kind of the sou♚l of Metal Gear; it goes from the sublime to the ridiculous."

While there are some fun touches, like a Shagohod-inspired ape mech in a couple of the💜 stages, they are merely cosmetic; the game boi꧅ls down to shooting targets with the EZ Gun and running into them. Still, for a small side-game in one of best games ever made, it's a fun distraction.

Snake Escape

Snake Vs Monkey could have easily been an enjoyable little side-game in MGS3 and that would've been the end of it. However, Japan Studio had other plans. When Ape Escape 3 was released less than a year later, the developer had its own take on the crossover with the Mesal Gear Solid: Snake Escape minigame. That's no typo. 'Mesal' is a portmanteau of the Japane💦se words for 'me🐻tal' and 'monkey' – 'metaru' and 'saru'. Once again Snake would meet the apes; however, this time David Hayter would not be brought in to voice the legendary Metal Gear hero. "I think it's the first I'm hearing about it," Hayter exclaims when we ask.

Instead, the role was given to another Metal Gear Solid alumnus, Vulcan Raven actor Peter Lurie, who tells us that "someone who knew me from some of my other work came to me and said 'We really want you to play this part.'" Lurie was given very little information in advance. "I🐬t wasn't until I actually walked in there that I realised it was playing Snake, which I was a little surprised at but thought, why not? Let's see what happens."

Yes, some of the Ape Escape crossover content returns in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the enhanced remake that's on its way soon.

Ape Escape's Professor is doing his laundry, when he gets a call from his best pal from school, Colonel Roy Campbell. He informs Professor that he has lost contact with Snake♍, who was infiltrating a base to destroy the newest version of Mesal Gear, and needs help locating him. It turns out that a specially trained ape guerrilla force has commandeered the latest Mesal Gear and is demanding ten billion bananas within 72 hours or they will fire the mech's 'Lazy Cannon.' Campbell requests the help of the elite ape-catching force of Spike and Jimmy… who are once again away for the summer.

When all hope seems lost, Professor has the brilliant idea of uploading Snake's ba༺ttle data into a monkey helmet, and thus Pipo Snake is born. In addition to the battle data, Pipo Snake also took on Snake's voice actor. Even though Lurie was pulling double duty, he quite enjoyed playing Snake's monkey variant, saying "they [non-verbal characters] can be a lot more freeing because it can be left up to your own interpretation."

While Snake Vs Monkey is a touch underwhelming, all things considered, Mesal Gear 💛Solid is shockingly ambitious. Set aside all the apes and the game feels like a legitimate Metal Gear Solid adventure. The opening areas emulate iconic scenes from MGS1, such as the elevator and the initial approach into Shadow Moses from the beginning of the game, as well as a fist fight on top of a destroyed mech from the finale. The game doesn't stick to co-opting areas from past Metal Gear games, however, and that old Ape Escape flair is soon added with levels inspired by the likes of Edo Japan and the Wild West. The developers even use small touches like cutscene direction, the way the guards patrol, and posters adorned with bikini-clad monkeys. All of these go to show that this was a true love letter to the greatest stealth series of all time rather than some half-baked crossover mandated by a publisher.

I thඣink it's kind of comforting for people when t🦄he game developer is confident enough to joke with you.

So, how do you get into the mindset of a battle-hardened ape? According to Lurie: "If I remember correctly – and this happens a lot with characters who don't speak 'the Queen's English' – you're given a 'We want a response and this is what emotion we want to convey.'" However, even when your dialogue is as simple 𓆉as making 'oo-ki' noises, the direction is taken as seriously as any other. "There will be times where a director will tell you in a polite way 'That's really good but let's try it this way, remember, you're trying to convey this.'" Lurie says that's "someone's subtle ꦡway of trying to say 'Yeah, that's not it.'"

Of course, the Metal Gear series is known for jumping between utmost seriousness an🤡d utter ridiculousness at the drop of a hat. Working on those games, it seems, acclimatises you to the extreme ends of the job. David Hayter agrees with this, saying, "It's kind of cool to create a world like that, where the serious stuff, tragic stuff, and hilarious stuff all comes together." He adds, "I think it's kind of comforting for people when the game developer is confident enough to joke with you. That's the kind of stuff that fans come up and talk to me about all the time. I alඣways feel like when a situation is dire people tend to joke, and, in a way, it sort of mirrors life."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> While Ashly Burch has worked with the likes of Atlus, Guerilla, Naughty Dog, and survived multiple stints with Randy Pitchford, the prolific voice actress still has one name on her mind – 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima.

Speaking to , Burch – who previously said she got into voice acting – spoke about 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid and Hideo Kojima's influence on her career.

"Any time a character is introduced in Metal Gear Solid, there's a little text on the screen that comes up, and it says their character name, but then it also it said another name. And at the time, I was like, what is thi꧙s, who is this?" Burch recalled, adding, "I wasﷺ able to look up David Hayter, and I was like, oh my god. That's the actor."

Burch added, "It'd never occurred to me. You know, I loved෴ cartoons and, I guess some part of me knew there's a person voicing Chucky from Rugrats or whatever, but it didn't click with me until that moment that it was a job you could have."

Burch was asked if Metal Gear Solid influenced the way she approached acti𒅌ng,🀅 and she responded, "I think Metal Gear was the first game I played that was grittier, that was fully voiced."

"So I think it did open up to me, like, wha𝔍t the possibilities of performance in games could 🅷be," Burch continued.

Burch was also very complimentary of Kojim⛄a's approach to game development and his "gameplay sensibility," saying, "If Metal Gear was just cutscene after cutscene without satisfying gameplay in between, I don't think they would be as popular as they are."

Burch added, "[Kojima] always does something interᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚesting with the gameplay that I think keeps people engaged."

When asked what type of character she would like to play if she was ever cast in a Hideo Kojima game, Burch moved away from her norm of playing heroes, saying, "I don't know if I would get cast for this, but, I think, let's manifest it. I think a Psycho Mantis-adjacent. I think being a villain would be fun. Like, one of his really unhinged villains would be fun."

Hideo Kojima rejected several celebrity appearances, but apparently made darn sure his favorite vtuber is in Death Stranding 2.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Hideo Kojima explains that there's a reason behind 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear protagonist Solid Snake's cool, strong, and silent personജality in the first game, but it was actually because of technical limitations rather than 𝓰a creative decision.

As , Metal Gear director Koji🎐ma recently wrote an essay for the to discuss voices and voice acting in games, in which he notes that when he entered the games indu💙stry in 1986, "games still couldn't speak. Characters did not have voices." Not only this, but Japanese "kanji fonts weren't supported," with katakana characters used instead.

There are three main writing systems in Japan – kanji, hiragana, and katakana – w൩hich are all used interchangeably for different purposes. Kanji is often used to write words like nouns and parts of verbs, while hiragana and katakana are phonetic symbols that represent syllables. Generally speaking, hiragana is commonly used for grammatical reasons, while katakana is used to spell out foreign loan words, amongst other things. Needless to say, you wouldn't normally see a whole script written solely in katakana, but this was the way things had to be.

"Solid Snake, the protagonist of my debut title Meta🐓l Gear (1987), was born as a silent 'tough guy' because of these circumstances," Kojima continues.

Kojima doesn't explain the technicalities of exactly why kanji characters weren't used, but as Automaton points out, memory constraints were likely an issue. There are tens of thousands of kanji characters in existence, although there are over 2,000 "core" ones you can expect to come across in more regular use. Either way, that's a lot to store. There's also a high likelihood that on lower-resolution screens like those of the MSX2 and NES, complex kanji characters would have been difficult to convey and, furthermore, read. Katakana symbols are much more simple, and therefore would sh🐻ow up clearer on a smalꦕl screen.

Snake obviously didn't stay so quie🧸t forever, however, with him getting an actual voice in Metal Gear Solid, allowing us to see him "delivering snappy lines reminisce🐟nt of 007 or Lupin the Third."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> It's been 11 whole years since Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes first re💖leased, and director Hideo Kojima still clearly remembers the criticism the short stealth game received at launch as he looks back o♔n its negative comments and lower review scores.

Ground Zeroes serves as a prologue to the other 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid 5, The Phantom Pain, with the Steam description proclaiming that it "gives core fans the opportunity to get a taste of the world-class production's unparalleled visual presentation and gameplay before the release of the main game." As Kojima writes in a tweet celebrating the anniversary (which has been machine translated), the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:experimental installment was "originally planned" to show off Konami's proprietary Fox Engine and "♛open-world infiltratio🏅n" gameplay.

Beyond that, Kojima reminisces, Ground Zeroes introduced new gameplay elements – in fact, he says "as many gameplay elements as possible were included." At the end of the day though, this didn't rectify the main criticism of the game – its length. With a two-hour main story, Ground Zeroes is an undeniably bite-sized experience – HowLongToBeat may list it as a , this is still significantly shorter than its follow-up, with The Phantom Pain'💧s main story alone .

Kojima notes that now, over a decade on, Ground Zeroes is looked at much more favorably, but it debuted as the lowest-rated main game in the Metal Gear Solid se𝄹ries. An average Metacritic score of 75 is still nothing to be sniffed at, but its director clearly knows what caused it, pointing to comments that questioned, "'why would they sell a trial version even at a low price?'" At launch, you could expect Ground Ze♍roes to cost up to $40, so it was always going to be a considered purchase if you value a lengthy runtime.

These days, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is significantly cheaper to buy even when it's not on sale, which probably helps remedy these complaints. Kojima is clearly pleased to see so many people love the game today, ไthough, as his Twitter profile has been filled with retweets of fans sharing their praise and lengthy playtimes, with some going well above 100 hours – so much for a "trial version," huh?

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake trailer

There have been several Metal Gear Solid 3 remake trailers. However, the most recent teaser is the above clip from the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:2025 👍🦂PlayStation State of Play Showcase. In the trailer, we get to see the fancy new visuals of the update. Snake has never looked better, and the environments that he finds himself sneaking ar🍌ound are stunning. From jungle scenes to trekking through a cave filled with water, the remake is a marvel to look at for sure, and it seems like the game will be well worth all our collective patience.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake gameplay

A screenshot of Snake hiding from a guard during the trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a stealth action game that will primarily stick to the gameplay of the original PlayStation 2 game. You'll be sneaking through forests and bases, taking down guards, and trying to fꦛight off the subordinates of the Boss.

In the trailer shown during the February 2025 PlayStation State of 💛Play showcase, we also saw Snake using some 🐎martial arts to overpower a guard. This indicates that "close-quarters combat" or "CQC" - aka the hand-to-hand combat system from the original game- is making a comeback in this remake as well.

In terms of new features in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the big difference is visuals. The reꦇmake looks stunning, and cut scenes feel dynamic as they allow you to zoom in and out of each 4K scene with ease. The PlayStation 2's original control scheme, which, let's be honest, was far from perfect, has had an overhaul in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater🧸 as well, along with animations getting a fresh coat of paint as well.

As our hands-on Metal Gea♓r Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview (which you can watch in video form a🅷bove) of the game points out, in terms of remakes, it takes more of a purist approach. It makes quality-of-life improvements and upgrades the visuals, however, the original's gameplay and core story a𒊎re largely untouched.

Another fun gameplay feature that's returni🔯ng in the remake is that PS5 players will have an Ape Escape mode where Snake has to chase and catch cartoonish monkeys with a habit of mocking you across the map. This mode is, of course, from the Metal Gear cross-over with the Ape Escape games. However, Xbox players won't be getting to experience this since Ape Escape is a Sony Property.

Instead, Xbox players w𝕴ill be getting a mode with a Bomberman crossover. We're still waiting on news regarding what PC players will be getting here, so st🌌ay tuned as more details head our way.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake development

The big question on everyone's mind about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's development is whether Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima was involved in the 🐻project after he publicly split with Konami. Well, we're here to set the record straight. Kojima Productions is not involved with the new Metal Gear remake.

The title is instead being handled by Konami's internal developer, Konami Digital Entertainment, and Virtuos (who has co-developed titles such as the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Assassin's Creed Liberation Remastered). Despite the fact that neither Kojima nor original artist Yoji Shinkawa is involved in the new game, Konami has made sure to stick to a faithful adaptation of the oꦉriginal game. The Metal Gear official Twitter account reaffirmed this 🎶point in a post, explaining how it led to the game's name "Metal Gear Solid Delta".

"The Delta symbol (Δ) was chosen because its meaning fits the concept of the remake project," the official Metal Gear account clarified. "Delta means 'change' or 'difference' without changing str𒐪ucture."

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is also the first Metal Gear game not to use Fox Engine - which was a proprietary game engine by Konami. Instead, the game uses Unreal Engine 5. 𓂃It's an end of an era, folks!

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> PlayStation isn't letting 澳洲幸🧜运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's♊ Ape Escape mode on Xbox, but the rival console is getting a crossover just as good, if not better: Bomberman.

After some leakage, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid 3 remake's release date was properly announced during 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:PlayStation's State of Play: August 28 on all platforms. What was even m🎃ore exciting, however, was confirmation that the original game's weird Ape Escape crossover would return in glorious high definition, with Snake chasing and catching the cheeky monkeys across the map.

Ape Escape is the property of Sony, though. Even though the publisher hasn🦹't done anything with the cult platformer in a decade - aside from a really sweet Astro Bot homage - the MGS 3 mode is seemingly being locked onto PC and PS5 versions of the game, shutting out Xbox Series X|S players.

Not content with leaving anyone out, publisher Konami is more than making up for the loss with a Bomberman crossover mode on Xboxꦛ consoles. Instead of an Ape Escape tease, the MGS Delta trailer uploaded to Xbox's channels ends with a "Snake VS ???" text slapped on top of Bomberman's silhouette. "The special game Snake vs Monkey' to capture the Pipo Monkeys is back for PS5 and Steam," the trailer's description explains. "A different special game will be implemented for the Xbox version!" There's currently no word on what the Bomberman mode is or whether it's also coming to PC in the future, but that hasn't stopped some fans from getting a little envious.

"Not gonna lie, Snake vs Bomberman sounds cooler," one commenter on said. "I'll be honest, I think I'd rather take the Bomberman one," another agreed. "I'd rather have Bomberman on PC," said a thir😼d. The only truly based comment declared "all platforms should have all options." He♉re, here.

It does feel like a throwback to the 360/PS3 era where multiplatform games would get console-specific features. Like, how random was it that Soul Calibur had Yoda for Xbox peeps and Darth Vader for PS3 players? I wonder what a potential 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Switch 2 port would have in store.

There's that eye bulge from infamous boss The End, of course, as well as the moment that Snake aims a rocket launcher with his bad eye. But both of those paled in comparison to the appearance of that Ape Eꦬscape cameo - a cheeky monkey appeared at the end of the trailer to smack its behind several times, which is clearly in-line with Kojima's original vision.

Our own resident Metal Gear Knower Oscar found that 20 years of muscle memory made Metal Gear Solid Delta feel like playing the original, and reckons fellow fans will know that that's no small thing. You'll find more details on the upcoming remake in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:our hands-on report from last year, sizing up the prettiest vꦜersion of one of the greatest stealth games ever made.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> A leaked 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer has accidentally confirmed it's ꦡlaunching this summer, alongside a surprising Ape Escape crossover mode returning from th🌠e original MGS 3.

The seems to have made a whoopsie and uploaded an August 28 release date for Metal ওGear Solid Delta, a faithful remake of Hideo Kojima's classic action-stealth game, this time built in Unreal Engine 5.

It's s𓆏eemingly not just a speculative date, however. The PlayStation mobile app provides further confirmation as a leaked trailer also contains the same August date, new looks at its gameplay, and a surprising Ape Escape tease at the end, showing one of the titular apes cheekily shaking🍒 their backside before running off into the forest.

The store listing confirms it's the same Snake vs. Monkey mode from the original PlayStation 2 release, where you'll need to sneak around the stage and grab all the "escജaped apes running amok." I'm guessing this mode could be exclusive to the PS5 version as Ape Escape is a Sony series, but Konami has yet to confirm anything, including the release date, for itself.

It seems like Konami is committed to remaking the original Metal Gear Solid 3 as faithfully as possible, however. We know it's got a 'Le𓄧gacy Style' control scheme and visual filter to mimic Metal Gear Solid 3's distinct fe🎉el, and its 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:developers are 🅺retain🐟ing the original cast while re🦩constructing some unused voice lines from 2004 for new dialogue. Remaking a pretty random collaboration with a cult classic platformer like Ape Escape, which hasn't gotten a new entry in 15 years, is just the icing on the cake.

For now, don’t miss a single exciting release with our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new games of 2025 and beyond release calendar.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> If you're a fan of Solid Snake, or perhaps more specifically, of Solid Snake's rear end, then your heartfelt thanks should be directed towards one particular 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid lead, according to an ♊interview with two industry veterans.

In a 2003 interview originally featured in Hyper PlayStation 2 magazine and now available on , Metal Gear Solid art director Yoji Shinkawa and veteran Square En🐈ix designer Tetsuya Nomura spoke about their design processes. Shinkawa in particular discussed how having spent his career largely working on action games led to a particular focus on his characters' behinds.

"I've done more action games than any other i🦹n my time," begins Shinkawa, while asking Nomura what's different about designing characters for an RPG versus an🅘 action title. "So I spend a lot of time fussing over the details of the characters' backsides, since that's the side the player sees the most in-game. Especially the butts," he laughs.

In response, Nomura, who was working on 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Kingdom Hearts at the time, replies that it's important that character designs work while in motion, something that isn't as much of a concern in an RPG. "There's no real design limits for RPGs, but in action games you have to make sure it looks good in motion. In RPGs the characters per🧜form a wider variety of movements and actions, so more than movement per se, I focus on making their designs fit into the world and atmosphere of the game."

Beyond Snake's rear end, Shinkawa has been responsible for some of the best-looking games of the past few decades, working as an art director on all of the Metal Gear Solid series, Death Stranding, and currently, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Death Stranding 2, in which we'll all be hoping for s🎐ome more stellar work from the master himself.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> If there's one thing 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima is known for, it's his near movie-length 🐲cutscenes in his games♉. As it turns out, that wasn't originally how he planned to make video games.

In a 1997 interview or𝓀iginally published in Famitsu (uncovered by ), Kojima says "The one thing I want to avoid, though, are those tedious scenes where characters are just blabbering at each other for 4 or 5 minutes." All you can do is laugh when you read that given how long the cutscenes are in Kojima's games these days.

According to , three of the five longest c👍utscenes in video games appear in Kojima projects. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater has a 24-minute one, but that&ap𝓡os;s lightwork compared to the others higher on the list. Death Stranding has one that's 31 minutes.

I remember watching my housemate play 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Death Stranding during 💖lockdown and it felt like I was sat for a film. I enjoyed it thor𓂃oughly, but I can see why that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Metal Gear Solid 4 really takes the cake, though. It has a cutscene that's a whopping 71 minutes long. Th🥀at's the length of some horror movies.

Kojima did preface his early quote with the following: "I'm worried about the cinematic presentation. In order to make the direction effective, I feel like I may have to add unskippable cutscenes. The story for Metal Gear is very complicated, so I think cutscenes will be necessary." S🐼o, we can clearly see he decided to lean into the skid rather than find a workaround.

He adds, "For Metal Gear, too, I'm trying to get as close to film as possible. What I mean by that is an expansive, well-written setting, making the polygo𒁏n 🔥characters 'act', and lighting effects [...] When you've finished Metal Gear, I want you to feel like 'ah… I understand now.' That's my goal. In that sense, too, it's a cinematic or literary experience."

I'm a big fan of cutscenes. While it's great when a game can tell its story through gameplay and the environment, sometimes it's nice to just sit back and watch the drama unfold. One of my favorite video games, Jak 2: Renegade, held the record for the most cutscenes in a video game at the time, and I think it's what marked Naughty Dog's shift into a studio known for telling great stories. I'm excited to see what the team does with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Over the years, Metal Gear Solid's iconic character designs have become a hallmark of the series, and it all stems from director 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima's rather rigorous requireme𝓰nts for the first instalment.

In a 1998 interview with The PlayStation magazine, now available on , 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima and designer Yoji Shinkawa discussed the duo's approach to character design, and how Koji𒅌ma'🅘s requirements ended up causing Shinkawa more than a bit of trouble.

When asked about what kinds of character design requests he had, Kojima frankly answers "Hardboiled🌌. It&a♓pos;s a serious, heavy story, and I wanted characters who could handle that world." Further to this, he adds a few caveats for what he wanted to avoid in a character design, laughing that "Designs that are 'dishonest', weird, or that are just meant to be visually stimulating - like female characters with huge busts - I don't like those."

The reason for these strict criteria was simple. "I wanted characters w🧸ho, just from looking at their clothing you'd be able to tell what kind of person they were, and what their motivations were," he explains. Shinkawa chimes in to say "That's one reason why I struggled a bit with Snake's design," to which Kojima🎀 replies "I remember. You struggled a lot. (laughs) The first design looked like Captain Future, and he was orange-colored."

Of course, one could argue that Kojima broke this streak with MGS 5's Quiet, who has received criticism for being over-sexualised in her design, though it would be hard to dispute that her design hasn't since become iconic in its own right. With Kojima having now left Konami permanently, however, it remains to be seen whether or not his stringent design philoso🍨phy will be present in any future Metal Gear Solid titles.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima boasts a portfolio of video game masterpieces like no other, but they're often compared to films thanks to their cinematic nature and superb st😼orytelling - according to the mastermind developer, though, it's no🦩 coincidence that his games often feel like movies.

From Death Stranding to Metal Gear, Koj💯ima is no stranger to smash-hit game successes. If you've played any of his titles and have felt almost as though they carry a touch of cinema within them, however, past Kojima knows why. Speaking in a 1999 alongside fellow video game mastermind Yasumi Matsuno, the legendary lead explores what he calls his generation's "cinema DNA" - and how it's influenced his work.

"My generation really took a lot from the cinema, and much of that remains an unconscious influence on what we make today. I like to call it our 'cinema DNA,'" jokes Kojima. "Having grown up with movies and their influenceღ, no matter what I attempt to create, that DNA will always make its influence felt and lend to my creations a 'cinematic' shape. For thos💯e who grew up in the 'manga generation,' likewise, all their own art has traces of manga in it."

Kojima continues, expressing concern over younger devs' own experiences and their access to other forms of media like film as video games were beginning to take over. "On the other hand, one thꦗing I'm a little worried about today is that the current generation of young game creators has grown up on video games themselves, and I don't know if they've had time or room to absorb the influence of other arts and mediums."

As for Kojima's games, films' influence on them is undeniable. "In my case, it's not so much that I'm conscious of movies when I create, it's more that, as a result of having grown up with them, everything I ma🥀ke ends up feeling somewhat like a movie," he admits. "It's all stuff I absorbed unconsciously: a sense of what's 'cool,' beautiful framing, stylish lighting." And "it's all influenced me in one way or another."

The lead concludes that "A single work becomes invested with many unconscious strands." Even though this interview took place in 1999, Kojima's words seem more relevant than ever. His upcoming project OD, which he describes as 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:"a bit risky" and "a gam꧋e like no othe☂r," is being produced in collaboration with comedian and filmmaker Jordan Peele, after all, and Kojima has the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Death Stranding movie coming as well.

Hideo Kojima admits that his "work is often regarded as being similar to a movie, but at the core, games are what I create"

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> 🅷In a newly unearthed interview, Hideo Kojima shared that he faced near universal resistance against hi💃s idea for Metal Gear until he pointed out the iconic exclamation point that lets players know they've been spotted by the enemy. (Try not to hear the sound challenge, go!)

Talking to Nice Games way back in 1999 (available now due to the great work over at ), Kojima explained how the kernel that would eventually become Metal Gear was Konami's desire to make a "war game." Kojima said that a team of veteran Konami developers had an idea for a war game and then scrapped it, and then came up with another, and scrapped that, and so and, so forth. Eventually the project fell into Kojima's hands, and he put forth an idea for an "escape game" inspired by the 1963 movie The Great Escape, but was told "'There's no games like thaಌt'."

"I was still a♈ new planner at Konami, so I guess no one was inclined to listen to what I had to say… there was just zero motivation from the start," Kojima said. "It was like, what do I have to do here, do I have to start beating people up? (laughs)"

Kojima said he was so frustrated with the situation that he was considering leaving Konami entirely, but another vetera💟n employee gathered a meeting and presented Kojima's vision, and sure enough "the people 🅺around me started to change their attitude."

"꧟Of course everyone still had their doubts about the basic premise," Kojima said. "They were all asking, 'will an escape game really be fun…?' But once we got a working build running, and they saw that exclamation mark pop up when the enemy gets𝔍 surprised, that sold them on the concept. They all changed their tune then: 'This is gonna work!'"

Long story short, thank goodness for that effin' excl♒amation point. To think that the absence of such a relatively minor feature could've meant no Metal Gear forever is mind-boggling, and it makes you wonder what beloved series exist in other universes but not ours simply because whoever pitched it in our universe didn'ꦿt show off the exclamation point. I'm gonna go lie down.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> In a newly resurfaced 1999 interview with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima, he gives us the inside scoop about the early days of his time with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear developer Konami.

P💧osted online by , the interview, originally published by Nice Games, reveals a lot about Kojima's ambitions and the challenges he faced making Metal Gear. By the time Kojima joined, Konami was two years into making a war game💎 that wasn't going anywhere.

"That was how the project came to me," he explains. "What I was fixated on making, in the scope of a 'war' game, was an escape gam𓆉e. You know that old movie, The Great Escape? I thought it would be awesome to make a game built around a concept like that, of trying to escape from somewhere. But when I told the senior devs on the team about my idea, they were very dismissive: 'There’s no games like that.' I was still a new planner at Konami, so I guess no one was inclined to listen to what I had to say… there was just zero motivation from the start. It was like, what do I have to do here, do I have to start beating people up?"

Fortunately, it didn't come to blows. The situation did devolve into "passive-aggressive resistance," but an older employee took a shine to his ideas and the project "was finally able to s🐠tart moving in ꩲa positive direction."

Kojima says the team still wasn't fully sold on his idea until they saw the iconic exclamation mark appear above an enemy's head when they were s🐟urprised in a working bui⛄ld of the game. "That sold them on the concept."

As everyone knows, he's a huge movie fan, even noting The Great Escape as an inspiration for Metal Gear, so why didn't he get into the film industry? "The film industry in Japan is very closed off, and no one will give you money to finance a movie," he says. "Even if you get hired by a🍸 studio like Toho, you won’t be permitted to direct anything for a while. I guess that’s to be expe🃏cted, but I’m not the kind of person who can be content in a servile role like that."

After a stint writing fiction, he thought he&ಌapos;d have to get a "normal job," something every writer can relate to, but then he started to play the Famicom and realized games were potent vehicles for storytelling, too.

"As I became familiar with the different games, I started to become more interested," he remembers. "It was like, 'ah hah, there’s a whole world here to explore too.' What made up my mind to get into this industry myself was 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Super Mario Bros. and The Portopia Serial Murder Case. They weren’t the 'bleep bloop' games of old; these games had theiܫr own worlds and stories. I felt a certain authorial quality in them."

Kojima says at the time he lived in the Hyōgo Prefecture, which bordered Osaka, 🐬where Konami first started as a jukebox rental and repair company, so the company was a good fit for him. The rest is history, and now he gets to make some of the most cinematic games out there and regularly meets ♍with the brightest up-and-coming movie stars of the moment.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Hideo Kojima admits the team relied on "trial and error" while experimenting with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of L𒁃iberty's motion captured animations.

While Metal Gear Solid 2 🤪came out in 2001, Hideo Kojima a🅰nd the development team at Konami were hammering away at the sequel years before Hollywood even bought its first motion-captured characters to life on the big screen. Remembering the game's production on its 23rd anniversary month, Kojima shared some insight over on social media.

"We experimented with magnetic motion capture in 'Metal Gear Solid: Integral', and in MGS2, we adopted optical motion capture for the first time," the famed director recently . "Was the shooting done about 25 years ago?🔯 Well, back then, everything was trial and error, but every day felt fresh and exciting."

Magnetic motion capture had actors wear metallic body suits while their movements were recorded via magnetic sensors. It's a method that's still ✨sometimes in use - and is relatively cheaper than other mocap routes - but Konami seems to have upped the ambition for its sequel. With optical motion capture, a bunch of different cameras would likely record the subject from all angles and that footage would then be used to recreate the movements in-game.

Kojima has been opening up about the series' past more than usual recently, especially as PlayStation's 30th anniversary looms. He just told the story about how he moved to Tokyo alone with nothi♉ng but a console and a T꧙V to make the very first Metal Gear, for example.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> The Metal Gear Solid series is completely drowning in bouncy, electronic rockstar music to get your guns ♈firing, but for series lead Hideo Kojima, one song stands out among the rest.

"'Can't Say Goodbye to Y❀esterday,' the ending theme of MGS2, is my favorite song out of all the music in the Metal Gear Solid series," Kojima writes in a lengthy .

Because 2001's Metal Gear Solid 2 is set 🔥in an alternate history version of New York City, filled with shadows and secrets, Kojima says he and his team "decided from the start" that the game's ending theme should be jazz, "a genre [composer and produc🏅er] Rika Muranaka excels in."

"This piece was created well ahead ไof the game's completion, with a lot of time and effort put into it," he adds.

'Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday' is an orchestral ballad, swinging sweet and drowsy like an autumn leaf. Over a gush of violins, singer Carla White lets the haunti🅘ng chorus pour forth: "I can't say goodbye to yesterday, my friend / 'cause I know how good it has been."

"The lyrics are amazing," Kꦉojima continues to say in his Twitter post. And Kojima is far from the only person who finds 'Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday' emotional.

"I listen to this [song] often," one Metal Gear Solid 2 player . "I remember staying up all night, playing the game when my best friend and I were in middle school. Th🔥is♕ song played at around 4 AM, and we were both floored."

That seems l๊ike an appropriate reaction. The best video game music stays with you well into the night, way aftꦯer the credits roll.

Metal Gear Solid Delta exists because Konami was starting to get worried that the "younger generation of gamers aren’t familiar with the Metal Gear series anymore."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> For many people, the idea that the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear series and its main man Solid Snake would be unknown to a generation of gamers would be laughable, but that’s exactly what Konami and the team working on the upcoming 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid Delta are afraid of.

In an interview in Play issue 46, series producer Noriaki Okamura was open about the fact that many younger gamers simply don’t know very much about Metal Gear. “One of the things that really sparked us to do the remake in general is because we realised that a lot of the newer, younger generation of gamers aren’t familꦛiar with the Metal Gear series anym🌱ore”, he explains.

For those of us who ﷽grew up with the franchise, it can be hard to imagine. But with the original Snake Eater having been released 20 years ago, and no new mainline games in the series since 2015, it’s perhaps not too much of a surprise that younger gamers aren’t too familiar with the franchise.

For Okamura, MGS Delta isn’t only about allowing older players to experience a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:sense of nostalgia, but to ensure that the legacy of the series continues to ꦕimpact future gamers. “It was basically our mission, our duty, to kind of continue making sure that the series lives on for future generations.” he explains. “After all, we leave behind much more than just DNA, as Solid Snake would say—but again, who is Solid Snake?”

This appeal to new players is part of the reason why Konami has𓃲 decided to forego the numbering system in the titles in favour of the Greek letter delta. While perhaps a strange move on the face of it to begin remaking the series from the third entry, Okamura notes that it takes place first in the chronology of the series. “That’s where the original story started”, he notes, making it the ideal place to begin remaking it.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> One Metal Gear Solid 3 mystery has persisted for the 20 years since the game's release: who voices the game's femme fatale, Eva? The actor behind the character was credited under the pseudonym Suzetta Miñet, but her true identity had never been revealed. But today, in the leadup to the remake Metal Gear Solid Delta, Konami has finally confirmed what fans have long suspected: Suzetta Miñet is in fact Jodi Benson, the voic🔯e of Disney's The Little Mermaid.

Benson's identity was revealed in the latest𝓡 episode of Konami's Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series , where she appears alongside David Hayter (Snake) and Lori Alan (the Boss). Her career started on Broadway, but when she landed the lead role in 1989's The Little Mermaid she transitioned pretty much exclusively to family-friendly fare, including numerous turns as Ariel. With that in mind, you can probably guess why she wanted to hide her role as a seductive agent in an M-rated sp💟y thriller.

"The various projects that I am affiliated with in my career are sort of family-baseꦑd, children-based, things like that," Benson explains in the video. "It was actually Kris Zimmerman Salter, our director, that kind of sat down with me and she’s like, 'Maybe we need to change your name.'"

The resulting pseudonym, Suzetta Miñet, was actually inspired by Benson's childhood pet. "[Kris] asked me, 'What was your dog’s name growing up?' and ❀I said, 'Suzette Monet.' So she’s like, 'You know what? Let’s build on that. How about Suzetta? How about instead of Monet, like the artist, we’ll do Minet?' and I was like, 'Sounds like a deal.'"

While Benson's role as Eva had never officially been revealed, fans have , to the point where they'd approach her about it at conventions. "Seven years ago, at various conventions where we meet and greet with wonderful fans, somebody s🉐lipped one of these wonderful games to my table," Benson says. "I said, 'Why are you bringing me that?' and he says 'Because you’re in it' and I said… 'Do you know? Do you know my deep, dark secret?' and he said, 'Yes, I do know!' and I said, 'Shh.... ꦚkeep it quiet.'"

The video above includes a ⛄bit of new footage from Metal Gear Solid Delta, starting at the 9:13 mark, showing a bit more of the new Eva fighting alongside Snake in the game's climactic escape sequence. There's also a quick look at one of the early scenes featuring the Boss. The video confirms that while "the lion's share" of the voice lines in the remake are the same as the original, the old actors returned to record a few new bits of dialog.

Metal Gear Solid Delta dev says that Konami wants to make the remake feel familiar but not old: "Our whole goal [...] is to make sure that it still feels like the game that you played 20 years ago."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> While 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid Delta aims ✱to invoke fond memories of the or⭕iginal Snake Eater, series producer Noriaki Okamura is keen to ensure it doesn’t play like a 20-year-old game.

In Play issue 46, Okamura shared his thoughts on the remake, and how important it is to strike a balance between nostalgia and more modern creature comforts. “Our whole goal when we’re making this remak꧙e is to make sure that it still feels like the game that you played 20 years ago, but without making it feel like an old game”, he explains.

Initially, Okamura believed that a graphical upgrade was all the game needed, but when viewing the game with more modern visuals, the team noticed that “some elements don’t blend well with the new graphics.” For Okamura, simply modernising the graphics risks losing some of the feeling of the original game, and he wants players to feel that while the visuals are new, it’s still the same game they ♓remember.

One area also in need of an update in Okamura’s eyes is the game’s controls. Classic control layouts will st⛄ill be available for those who want to use them, but a ‘new type’ control system puts the game more ♒in line with recent entries in the series. The aim, in short, is that Delta will feel how older fans “remembered it to be, but so that it doesn’t feel old and clunky.”, letting players control Snake far more seamlessly than in the original game.

"We didn't want to make any unnecessary changes that would take people out of that experience.” explains Okamura, “But at the same time, we need to make sure that when people play the game, it doesn't feel old, like they're playing an old game. [We're] making sure that when you play this game, that it's still on par with some of the more modern games in 𝓰terms of controls and without taking you out of the experience."

Though MGS Delta’s modernisation is undoubtedly aimed at making t💞he game more approachable for both new and returning players, it’s clear to see that Okamura has the game’s original fans at heart. "The best outcome for thꦉis is that [long-term fans] still feel nostalgic."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima understandably wants his games to impress generat𒊎ions to come, but that's not all - he also thinks his beloved work🔯 may possibly reach the eyes of more otherworldly beings one day.

Speaking in a recent interview with (thanks, ), the legend behind smash-hit titles like 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Death Stranding and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear explains that, first and foremostꦓ, it's important for game developers to create games that they're satisfied with personally. "I cannot put out a game that I don't feel convinced by," he states. Not only does he want to approve of his own work, though, but he also wants it to stand strong against the ultimate test - that of time.

"For starters, the way art is evaluate🧸d changes with the times," describes Kojima. "Just as paintings are appraised 100 or 200 years after the artist's death, games and films also remain as objects to be passed down through generations after their creators pass away. If I make something I'm satisfied with, centuries later aliens may come and say, 'that's awesome'" - and according to the longtime dev, "that's what it means to leave something behind."

I personally think it's safe to say that if any games catch the eyes of extraterrestrial beings in the distant future, it'll be Kojima's own. His current project is 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:OD, an ever-mysterious horror experience he describes as 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:"a bit risky" and "a game like no other" - and if his thoughts on it are anything to go by, then it certainly does sound like an impressive work of art that will reach generations (and perhaps even aliens one day?) 🍸to come.

Last year's open-world 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Legend of Zelda sequel leaves a lot of room for creativity, and boy do some people make use of it - including one player who goes by "saiotoko002" online. In one of his more recent , he highlights how managed to assemble the Harrier II in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo's open-world gem.💫 "There was a request for a fighter plane that flies with an infinite rocket," a translated version of his text reads.

This request is what prompted saitoko002 to build the Harrier II, or as he describes it, "my favori💛te in MGS2!" According to him, it was his first go at "using it with the infinite wings" - and infinite it is indeed. The clip attached to the creator's post shows the aircraft in action in Tears of the Kingdom, and it's downright awesome. Link uses it as one would a real attac𒆙k plane, setting enemies and even bosses ablaze.

Various Zonai devices make up the body of the Harrier II, from rockets to wings - and it's not the first time saitoko002 has pulled such a massive feat off in the Zelda game, either. A quick scan through his earlier posts shows various Metal Gear Solid-inspired builds in Tears of the Kingdom, as well as some from other franchises like 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Armored Core 6-e🌌sque fighting robots and recreations of the battle droids from Star ♍Wars.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker launched on PSP 14 years ago, and for much of that time we've wondered why it w💝asn't made a proper numbered entry in the series. Now, director Hideo Kojima has revealed it's because of "overseas marketing."

"After creating MGS4, I strongly felt the need for a proprietary engine," Kojima says in a new . "The leap forward for games in a vertical direction would only come after the engine was complete." That led to the creation of the Fox Engine that powered Metal Gear Solid V: The Pha🃏ntom Pain. In the meantime, Kojima wanted to evolve the series "horizontally" - onto other platforms.

"I proposed Peace Walker as a way to evolve MGS horizontally," Kojima continues. "Initially, it was titled MGS5: Peace Walker, but it faced strong opposition from overseas marketing, so we dropped the numb🅷ered title. Since it was for the PSP, we lowered the target age range to middle and high school students, aiming to discover younger fans and build a multi-generational following, with parents and children enjoying the game together."

We've known that Peace Walker was called Metal Gear Solid 5 at some point in development siܫnce , but the exact reasons why it ended up dropping the number have never been entirely clear. Kojima himself referred to Peace Walker as but fans long suspected tha🐈t Konami simply didn't want to market a portable title as a full, mainline entry in the Metal Gear Solid series.

Of course, the events of Peace Walker ended up setting the stage for the events of Metal Gear Solid V in a major way, introducing characters and themes that would be central to the game. But, uh… there's always been a hint that The Phantom Pain wasn't actually MGS5, either. "Not MGS5, but MGSV," before The Phantom Pain's launch. "My thought in it. V has come to." Kojima's always had a propensity for hanging big ideas on odd wordplay, and the notion that we've actually never gotten Metal Gear Solid 5 might be the greatest trick of 💯a💮ll.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Iconic Metal Gear So𓆏lid actor David Hayter is teasing his return as Big Boss, and naturally, fans are spiralling.

"I was in the booth today. Playing a role I’ve not plജayed, since…" reads a tweet from Hayter that🙈 was followed up by a gif of Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.

To be fair to said fans, there is justified confusion around what Hayter appears to be teasing here. We have Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater coming out sometime this year (the exact date has yet to be announced), but that it was using the same recorded voice lines from the original game. Sure, it did say ♒later th🌳at a select few lines were being re-recorded, but it seems unlikely they'd be doing𒈔 so this late in the game, with 🌌less than three months left in the year.

Then there's the unconfirmed, but 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:heavily alluded to, 🅘▨Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, but that seems even less likely to have any re-recorded lines from Hayter, being more of a straightforward port.

Finally, the most dubious of speculation is that Hayter is teasing a brand new entry in the Metal Gear franchise. Konami hasn't said anything at all about a potential 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid 6, but when has that ever stopped fans from speculating? And to that end, please enjoy this stream of Normal™ reactions to Ha🌳yter's tweet from fans:

Konami knows the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection had a "pretty rough launch" and is doing everything it can "not to repeat that" in Vol. 2.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> The difficulty of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will seemingly be adjusted depending on which cam🎉era perspective you choose to use, since one of them was naturally trickier th🐟an the other.

In an (, and verified using Google and DeepL) creative producer Yuji Korekado talks about the different ways to play the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake when it launches. Nostalgic fans, or those hoping for something akin to the classic stealth experience, might want to try out 'Legacy Style' – a camera perspective like that of the original Metal Gear Solid 3, with a fixed, overhead view. Meanwhile, for a more modern experience, 'New Style' ༒brings the camera just behind Naked Snake's shoulder. The latter, as Automaton points out, sounds similar to Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence's third-person camera, but the remake's 'N🐻ew Style' notably gives you more room to see what's going on in front of you, while also giving you the freedom to move while aiming.

However, Konami found that the freedom provided to players with the New Style "made the difficulty level lower than we expected." The devs ul🐼timately decided to "split the two play styles" because "if we were to adjust things to match the New Style, that would make the Legacy Style too difficult."

According to Korekado, Legacy Style is already close in difficulty to the original game, so anyone who's already played the classic version will have a good idea of what to expect there. However, it ꦫdoesn't sound like New Style will necessarily be easy in the end, since it's being separately adjusted by the devs. Whether it'll still end up being a bit easier than Legacy Style isn't entirely clear, especially if it's a camera perspective you're more used to.

Regardless, hopefully, the remake will have what it takes to be one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best Metal Gear games when itꦏ launches, even if we still don't know quite w🐓hen that'll be.

A Metal Gear Solid 1 remake can't be done in the same way Konami remade Metal Gear Solid Delta, producers say.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Potential future Metal Gear remakes won&apos🍌;t be done in the same style as the upcoming Metal 🌳Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, according to producers working on the series.

Speakin𝄹g to , in quotes translated via Google and Genki, producer Noriaki Okamura said if the team were to remake the original Metal Gear Solid, or MG1 or 2, some aspects wouldn't work with the same "methodology" as Metal Gear Solid Delta, including the "redesign of the levels."

Okamura elaborates that several parts would "have to be created anew" if Konami were to revisit the OG Metal Gear Solid or the even older, top-down, solid-less Metal Gears - compared to the method they used for Metal Gear Solid 3's remake, which retains the same basic layout as its 2004 source material, only with a 2024 facelift. Metal Gear Solid Delta developers even went so far as to say the remake is 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:"almost too faith🐎ful" to the orig💝inal. I can't imagine they'd retain Metal Gear's camera angles wiಌth the same enthusiasm.

But 🐽that's all hypothetical, and Okamura is quick to point out that the team wants to see how Metal﷽ Gear Solid Delta is received before moving on to future games in the series. Konami is focused on preserving everything that's come before for now.

"At the time, the number of staff who worked with the original team has decreased considerably," Okamura continues. "Before anyone else is gone, we want to create a path to preserve the Metal Gear series for the next 10 or 50 years." Fellow series producer Yuji Koresumi added that they want to make all MGS games playable on PC so people can access them 10 or 20 years from now, which is in line with the company's 澳洲幸运5开奖号🍸码历史查询:comments on 🙈a Metal Gear Solid 4 rerelease, too.

New Metal Gear Solid 3 remake footage looks gorgeous, but the 2004 voice acting just doesn’t look right coming out of 2024 characters.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> There's a new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer showing off an extensive array of the game's ea🐎rly cutscenes, and it looks both gorgeous and absolutely faithful to the 2004 original. But there's just something about the old voice acting coming out of the new character models that feels a little bit weird.

Metal Gear Solid Delta reuses🐻 the voice acting of t🌄he original MGS3, so all the line delivery is just as it was back in 2004. The original Snake Eater has one of the all-time great sets of vocal performances,ꦡ with just the combinatꦆion of military thriller drama and campy anime shenanigans to make it all extremely memorable. David Hayter's performance as Snake is absolutely iconic for a reason.

𝄹But while the camp worked great in the slightly stylized look of the PS2 original, it looks a lot weirder coming out🥀 of a bunch of modern, highly realistic character models. Just take a look at the trailer below. Look at when Snake starts speaking around the 0:43 mark. It's a little off, right?

Part of it is the lip sync, which looked a little odd even back in 2004, owing to the weirdly miniscule mouth movements. But the effect is about a thousand times more intense paired with the new character models, and extremely anime lines like "h𓂃e has not yet found an emotion to carry into battle" just don't play the samꦬe way with these aesthetics.

Some purists have been worried from the jump that Delta is losing some of the soul of the original, invoking the 'Nintendไo, hire this man' meme in reference to the realistic visual style. I'm not sure I agree - I'm really just happy to see Konami working on Metal Gear in a way that seems to respect what people like about it - but it certainly seems like the new look is going to make th💞e balance between camp and drama more uncanny than ever.

Metal Gear Solid Delta dev says they wanted it to be "almost too faithful" and explain why it's not called "a Hideo Kojima game."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> If you can believ༒e it, the PlayStation 1 is turning 30 in December, and Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear, Death Stranding, and Snatcher fame has been reminiscing about how its release ultimately helped evolve his career.

Over that it's also been 30 years since the initial release of Policenauts – a Japan-only graphic adventure game he wrote and directed. This also ended up releasing on the PS1 in 1996, although not before the team was "barely able to release Policenauts on 3DO" in 1995, several months after "the eܫarthquake in Kobe," he explains. In the spring following Policenauts' PlayStation release, however, Kojima made some big moves and "started a new company in Ebisu, and to create [Metal Gear Solid], I moved alone to Tokyo." He adds: "The only thing I brought with me was a TV monitor and a PlayStation. I was even listening to CDs on it."

that prior to the PS1's release, when he was in his 20s, "I spent my time creating games for the closed domestic Japan market, focusing oꦯn platforms like MSX, PC, and the PC Engine due to organizatiꦆonal circumstances." This changed after the PlayStation's launch. "But 30 years ago, with the release of the PlayStation, I was fortunate to work on this subcultural platform aimed for the global market," he says. "Around that time, I transitioned to not only development but also roles in management and producing, relocating myself to Tokyo – this shift significantly expanded my world."

Since then, Kojima has obviously gone on to do even more exciting stuff – he went on to found Kojima Productions, which isn't just working on 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Death Stranding 2 right now, but also the mysterious horror game 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:OD and a new action-espionage title which has the working title 'Physint.' <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Konami knows the Metal Gear Solid:♈ Master Collection's launch was kind of a disaster and is working to ensure Vol. 2&ap꧑os;s launch is smoother.

Fans of Metal Gear Solid probably won't appreciate the reminder, but a myriad of issues including a lack 👍of graphics and control options, as well as a host of technical issues across all platforms, tanked reviews and left a stain on the whole Master Collection.

In the latest episode of Konami's Production Hotline series, production producer Noriakꦓi Okamura confirmed for the first time that a follow-up collection is in the works and said the company🌟 is keen to learn from its past mistakes.

"Of course, we called the first one Vol. 1, so we are making a Vol. 2, that much is for sure," Okamura said. "We're also worried about how Vol. 1 had a pretty rough launch, with all the issues, so we're going to do everyth♕ing we can not to repeat that, but we just have to ask for everyon🤡e to give us time.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 includes remasters of the first three games in the series, and although the games included in the second collection haven't been confirmed, recently Konami strongly suggested Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally escaꦚpe its 18-year prison sentence on the PS3.

In the same broadcast, Okamura revealed that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is "already playable" 𝓰from start to finish and that the release date is "not going to be years and years" away. He also said Konami wanted Metal Gear Solid Delta to be "almost too faithful" and explained why it's not called "a Hideo Koꦰjima game".

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> We've gotten a few new details on the Metal Gear Soliꦯd 3 remake - or Metal Gear Solid Delta, if you prefer the official title - as part of Konami's latest . While the devs aren&ꦓapos;t willing to commit to a release date just yet, they did address fan questions about when the remake is finally going to launch.

"Unfortunately, we're still not able to name a date just quite yet," production producer Noriaki Okamura says. "We're working very hard on the development, I promise, but we're just not yet at the stage where we can say with confidence exactly when it will be out. I can t🔯ell you that, from start to finish, the whole game is already playable, so we know it's not going to be years and years. Nothing like that, I'm pretty sure."

We got to play Metal Gear Solid ⛦Delta as part of a preview event earlier this year, working through the Virtuous Mission prologue, and it looked impressive there. The Virtuous Mission prologue will also be playable on th🦩e show floor at Tokyo Game Show later this month, so it certainly seems Konami is confident in the current state of the game if they're willing to show it off not just to the media🅘, but to the public.

"As far as where we're at," Okamura continues, "we're at the stage of, 'check this part,' 'fix that,' looking over everyt🤡hing and taking care of any issues. And as developers, we want to take our time with that, to make sure everything is done right. So, ♕as soon as we have a clearer picture, you'll hear about it here on the Hotline as well. But until we get to that point, I have to ask for your patience while we work."

As part of this same broadcast, the devs say they wanted MGS Delta to be "almost too faithful," while explainin꧙g why it's not called "a Hideo Kojima game." These Production Hotlines have offered some surprisingly frank commentary from the devs - the last one included 🅘the devs addressing "honest opinions" from fans, featuring lines like "Metal Gear is dead, and you kille♛d it."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> A faithful remake of a beloved game, like in the case of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, can be tricky. Finding the balance between retaining what made the original special and modernizing elements that haven't aged well is a tall task for any developer. But according to production producer Noriaki Okamura in the second episode of Konami's Metal Gear Production Hotline vide♑o series, the team would still rather come down on the side of being "almost too faithful" and maintain the original design of Snake Eater.

When looking at an element like the zones separated by loading screens, Okamura mentions "that's just how the game ꦚwas designed. The rhythm and the shifting pace of gameplay flows from that choice." He goes on to say, "if we had done anything to change that overarching design it would have changed the game entirely."

The same logic applies to the credits, whඣere the team has decided to include the original developers – with one notable exception. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will not open with "a Hideo Kojima game" but instead say "based on Metal Gear Solid 3." It might seem strange at first, but as Okamura notes, "it's always been the case that games Mr. Kojima didn't personally direct don't have 'a Hideo Kojima game.'" Okamura continues on, "so for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, we decided that it just made sense to fol🙈low that precedent."

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hideo Kojima had a🗹 very notable split from ಌKonami back in 2015 after the release of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Now that Konami is back to working with the Metal Gear Solid property, questions 🐈about Kojima' involvement will almost certainly continue to circulate.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> It's been reported that a glitch in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance on PC has been inexplicably patched out, but not because of an update to the game. Instead, it seems that it could 🎉be the result of a Windows 11 update, and I'm🦩 just as confused as you are.

As shared by speedrunner @ApacheSmash on Twitter, the glitch in question revolves around pushing poor Emma Emmerich out of🌟 bounds in the air purification room on the first floor of Shell 2 Core, as well as the KL connecting bridge. After sending her through the walls, reloading the rooms takes Emma on a very handy journey through time and space, warping her further into the level without you having to drag her there y⭕ourself. While each of these skips only shaves off a few seconds, in a speedrun, every second helps, so you can imagine that some speedrunners feeling a little ticked off to find that it apparently no longer works on Windows 11.

"There's a glitch in Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance PC where you can push Emma out of bounds and reload the room to te𝔍leport her across the level. Speedrunners today are reporting that it no longer works on Windows 11," @ApacheSmash writes. "MICROSOFT PATCHED A MGS2 GLITCH."

At the time of writing, it doesn't appear that this change has been widely verified by the speedrunning community, although perhaps that's no wonder since the glitch is limited to the PC version of MGS2: Substance, which was delisted from digital platforms back in 2021. Last year&apo𓄧s;s Metal Geﷺar Solid: Master Collection included MGS2: Sons of Liberty, instead.

The whole thing is incredibly bizarre if it's true, though – while there was an update to Windows 11's Enterprise and Education version 22H2, as well as all editions of version 23H2 back on August 27, there's certainly nothing in the that could indicate any changes to the Metal Gear Solid games, and why would there be? For the time being, though🅰, it sounds like enthusiastic Metal Gear Solid speedrunn𝔍ers might want to hold back from updating their PC if they're on Windows 11, just in case.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Hideo Kojima has celebrated Metal Gear Solid 5: The Pha💝ntom Pain's ninth anniversary by pointing out that he did basically everything surrounding the game and its promotion.

Somehow, yesterday, September 1, marked the ninth anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 5's launch. To mark the occasion, game director Kojima has taken to Twitter to remind everyone t൩hat he did far more than just direct the actual game itself - he also did "promotional videos," "trailers, key visuals, package," and "concepts, layouts, checking."

"It includes everything. That's my style," Kojima adds🐬 to conclude the tweet above. Kojima has long been relatively famed for💛 personally editing the trailers for his games, so I doubt there'll be anyone out there who didn't already know that bit of information. There might be fewer people who know he also oversees aspects like "concepts" and "checking."

Not content with just one tweet, Kojima aꦑdds the follow-up tweet just below, revealing that "it's to📖ugh to do all these while making the game at the same time," but he believes this is "part of my works." Finally, as if doing all that wasn't enough, Kojima also oversees all of the merchandising surrounding his games, which definitely isn't a common role for a game director.

So there you have it - Kojima did "everything," or close enough to that, for the last mainline Metal Gear Solid title. Perhaps, when Metal Gear Solid 5's tenth anniversary roles around in 2025, the game director will finally spill the beans on some juicy cut content s🎀urrounding The Phantom Pain - Lord knows the Metal Gear community has waited long enough.

Take a look at our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview for our hands-on experience with Konami's remake.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> It's been almos𝔍t a year since Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 released containing remasters of the first three games 𝄹in the series, and now all eyes are on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and whether it'll ever escape its PS3 prison. Thankfully, all signs suggest the answer to that question is yes.

The first sign came in June 2023 when for Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the Metal Gear Solid timeline page from Konami's official website. The second and even more definitive sign was when reported that t🥀hese three games are indeed coming to the unannounced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.

Now, we have what seems to be a strong suggestion from Konami itself that this is the case. In a new interview with , Konami producer Noriaki Okamura was asked about Metal Gear Solid 4 and whether it'll ever leave PS3, and he said han♏g t🎃ight.

"We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4," Okamura said. "Unfortunately we can't really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot dot… you can probably connect the𝓡 dots!

"Right now we still are internally concerne𒀰d about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can't really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!"

Originally released in 2008 exclusively for PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4 has never been ported to any other system in an official capacity, including PC. It seems like Konami is presently focused on the upcoming 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid 3 remake and maybe, just maybe, whatever 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Metal Gear Solid 6 ends up being, but Metal Gear Solid 4 on mo🧸dern platforms seems like an inevitability regardless.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintend🧸o Switch, and PC.

37 years later, Hideo Kojima says Metal Gear was so "ahead of its time" because of its portable radio, not its stealth-action.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> How do you explain Metal Gear Solid to someone who's never experienced it? At first glance, it's a near-impenetrable explosion of gravelly-voiced protagonists, cardboard boxes, and giant exclamation marks – with robots lovingly sprinkled atop. Yet for those who explored Shadow Moses, Big Shell, and Tselinoyarsk the first time around, Kojima's💦 seminal stealth saga𓆏 feels less like a video game, and more a sacred text.

In rece♛nt years, however, the legendary soldier's mythos has begun to wane. Now almost a decade since Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain first hit shelves, a whole generation of gamers have grown up in a Snake-less world. With Gen Z not knowing their Volgin from their Ocelot, we find ourselves in a time of unparalleled Kojima crisis. Sensibly then, Konami is hoping to rig𓃲ht this wrong, remaking Snake's cold war classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for shiny modern hardware.

With its release date still nowhere in sight, I rec💙eived intel about a top-secret demo for this new 'Delta' Metal Gear Solid 3 remake project. As a grizzled F.O.X veteran, like Chase and Status before me, I eagerly returned 2 Jungle, re-donning my bandanna, tuning my codec, and grabbing my Mk2 tranquilizer, one last time. As I popped on my headset and picked up my mission apparatus, there was one question ricocheting around my head – has Konami lovingly restored this timeless classic, or merely fumbled the cardboard box? It was time to find out.

Kept you waiting, huh?

There's a giddy thrill to returning to MGS3: Snake Eater in 2024. As the camera pans round to a gas mask-wearing Big Boss, M𝓡ajor Tom and the rest of his pilots chatter and grimace with a new lease of life. As the iconic score kicks in, my excitement rises, and the goosebumps bristle… be𓆉fore I'm parked in front of a lengthy cutscene, like an unruly toddler with an iPad. Ahh, It's like Kojima never left.

Let's get the obvious out of the way: Metal Gear Solid Delta looks absolutely stunning. While I was one of the naysayers initially unconvinced by Big Boss' new character model – and the lack of sepia filter – once I'm actually exploring the humid overgrowth, those doubts completely disappeared. As the dense jungle glistens in the heat and insects buzz above Snakes, it's the littl﷽e details which impress. From the red blinking lights on soldier's radios to the tranquilizer darts sticking out of enemies, this iconic setting bursts with newfound life. While much has been made of Snake's lasting visible damage in Delta, this didn't seem particularly visible, in the Virtuous Mission prologue at least.

As my cover is blown and I get into a hairy firefight, bullet scrapes and rifle butt bruises don't seem to register. Crawling through the thick muddy bogs, however, leaves its murky mark, and as I emerge from the thick sludge and roll out of reach of an alligator's jaws, the mud clings to Snake's sticky uniform for several screens. It's this decision to lean into the cinematic that Konami feels gives Snake Eater new life: "When people play [Snake Eater] in this day and age, we don't want it to feel like a 20 year old game – old and clunky," explains series producer, Noriaki Okamura. "We want to make sure it feels exactly how they remember it 🐻– like the vision of Snake Eater in their minds."

Cutscenes fee♚l newly dynamic, allowing you to zoom in and out of each glistening 4K scene as you please, positioning the camera at bizarre angles to soak in minuscule d✅etails, like a zoom-happy YouTuber. It's something I particularly enjoy when I meet Snake Eater's crew of iconic oddball villains, the Cobra Unit. These absurd antagonists now teem with eccentricity. The End's eyes bulge like something ripped from the pages of manga horror writer Junji Ito, while The Pain's hornets look newly sickening. Even Volgin's scars look more fearsome than ever, lightning zapping out of him with a realistic sizzle. Much like its forebears, MGS3: Snake Eater has always delighted in snapping between realism and utter nonsense, and so far it seems that original oddball spirit remains lovingly intact in Delta.

Shedding its skin

Yet somewhat ironically, the lavish visuals also serve to highlight some of Snake Eater's creaky PS2 origins. While loading between stealthy v♔ignettes is predictably snappy on PS5, each new tiny playable zone breaks the shiny 4K illusion, sending you back to the limitations of 2003. Sprinting between tree cover to tree cover before suddenly hitting the loading screen shatters the feeling that you're off exploring a vast jungle. As you crawl, roll, and dive across each area with modern eyes, it feels closer to exploring a squared off section of inner city park than a dense tropical wilderness.

Thankfully, though, the characters move with modern grace. It's why, for Metal Gear Solid Delta, the team decided to completely overhaul the original's stiff animations and unwieldy control scheme. "Initially, we thought that we would just be improving the graphics," Okamura explains, "but when you see the game with very good graphics, a lot of the clunky parts starts to poke their head out… once we saw the original character animations with very realistic graphics, they looked a little🌸 bit old, so we knew we had to tweak the original code."

Luckily, the team had some legendary heroes of their own to help guide these changes: "Having some of the stafꦑf who actually worked on the original game realꩲly helped," says Okamura. "They could shine light on what we could change and how we could change it, so it was great to have them around to guide us in that way."

You've created a Time Paradox!

While Capcom's excellent Resident Evil remakes opted for a remix approach, cut♔ting, changing, and adding where the studio felt necessary, Konami has instead gone for a purist approach to Snake Eater's story and core mechanics. Yet mercifully, Delta brings that classic gameplay inline with 2024 standards. Playing with the modernized controls option, Snake Eater's infamously clunky combat now handles much like in The Phantom Pain. You can shoot while crawling backwards. Close Quarters Combat (CQC) no longer feels as awkward as it once did, allowing for smoother takedowns that make high level stealth play infinitely more attainable.

As anyone who's suffered heari𓆏ng Wolverine's voice actor return for X-Men '97 will attest, getting an aging cast to return decades later isn't always the wisest call. Thankfully, the performances from the PS2 original still hold up brilliantly. From David Hayter's inimitable growl to Josh Keaton's impudent whinging as baby Ocelot, the charm of the original has impressively survived the transit across three generations of console hardware. "What we want to offer is the same exact feeling as those who played the original Snake Eater for the first time: that thrilling, baffling experience," explains Okamura.

The more Otacon-minded of you out there will be pleased to hear that Konami wastes no time in laying its graphical cards on the proverbial table. When you boot Metal Gear Solid Delta, you are given the option for a 30FPS visual mode – a dynamic resolution scaling between highs of 4K and lows of 1440p – or a 60fps mode, scaling between 4K and 1080p. If however, you opt for fidelity, the 30fps mode seems to be pretty solid, despite halving the frame rate of t༺he PS2 original. After the less than competent ports of the recent Master Collection, here's hoping both modes deliver.

21 years later, there's still nothing out there that feels quite like Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. From its blend of Cold War 💟history to James Bond cheese and anime excess, it's a beautifully absurd creation, and one that absolutely deserves to be experienced again. While its relentless barrageꩲ of hands off exposition may be a tough pill for newbies to swallow, thanks to the stunning new coat of paint and modernized take on CQC, Metal Gear Solid: Delta is shaping up to be the definitive way to experience Big Boss' origins.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> The first sequel in the long-running Meta﷽l Gear series originally launched in 1990, but Hideo Kojima says it wasn't supposed to be that way - it was delayed because he and his dev team had to go help out on an RPG spin-off of one of his earlier games.

Don't confuse Metal Gear 2 for Metal Gear Solid 2 here - we're talking about the 1990 MSX game that was released only in Japan rather than the 2001 PS2 classic. At this point, Kojima had directed a bonafide hit in the original Metal Gear, but he didn't have the megastar reputation he enjoys today. After Metal Gear, Kojima 🐼led development on Snatcher - a narrative-driven adventure game dripping in noirish, cyberpunk vibes.

From there, Kojima went on to lead Metal Gear 2, while a separate team at Konami started a follow-up to Snatcher in the form of SD Snatcher, which retold the original story in an RPG filled with cute, chibi-style characters. Kojima wouldn't get directly involved in the latter until 𝓀an "emergency situation" with SD Snatcher forceඣd him and his team to help out.

"'MG2' was actually nearly finished in 1989," Kojima says in a , "but there was a bit of an emergency situation with 'SD SNATCHER' that was done by a different team, and we had to help them for a few months. Using what we can, we revised the scenario an𓂃d the game. It was an all hands on deck situation and all the departments, not just the MGS2 team, helped revise it. So, we had to put 'MG2' on hold and after 'SD' was finished, we restarted. We had to reconsider the release intervals in order to release 'SD' first, and so we released 'MGS2' the following year in 1990."

Most English-speaking Metal Gear fans wouldn't get a chance to play Metal Gear 2 until it was included as a bonus in the Sub🐻sistence version of Metal Gear Solid 3 some 15 years later. Nonetheless, Metal Gear 2 set the stage for much of what would follow in the series, including a much deeper narrative than the original game. In fact, much of the game's structure - from the way you make contact with a female spy to the puzzle involving a key that changes shape based on temperature - would be repeated in Metal Gear Solid, when the series made its big transition to 3D and became a global hit.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will credit Hideo Kojima and the original developers since "they're a part of these games too," and one current dev says he'd "like nothing better" than to have the OG director back.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear director Hideo Kojima has reflected on ♑what made thไe original stealth game so "ahead of its time," 37 years after the game debuted.

July 13 marked 37 years since Metal Gear released on the MSX2 in Japan, and Kojima has done a little bit of reflecting to mark the anniversary. Metal Ge⛦ar is apparently "packed with things that were ahead of its time," according to the director, who adds that he was just 23 years old when Metal Gear released in Japan in 1987.

What Kojima's tweet really hones in on is the portable radio transceiver, which Solid Snake uses to communicate with other character𓃲s in the game like Big Boss, who sends him on the entire mission to take out the titular bipedal Metal Gear in the first place. "Moreover, it was interactive, allowing you to send and receive c🐼omms," Kojima writes.

The radio "moves along with the playeཧr," Kojima adds, so that when dramatic events unfold in the game, the player feels present, and not detached from other characters. "With the transceiver, the player’s current situation can be depicted while the other characters’ story or situation can be foreshadowed in parallel," Kojima writes.

"Most of today's shooter games also use this gimmick of a transce🌳iver," Kojima also adds, stressing that the radio receiver was a crucial part of Metal Gear, even though, in his opinion, "only the stealth part was praised."

Metal Gear might've released 37 years ago, but you can play it right now on modern platforms via the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, and it'🔥s bundled in with Metal Gear Solid, if you're p𝓀urchasing the three games separately.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> The reveal of Metal Gear Solid at E3 1997 had a big impact, pa𒅌rticularly on one Sony developer who was busy making his own espionage-themed action game at the exact same time.

Speaking to Retro Gamer, Richard Ham, design lead on Syphon Filter at developer Eidetic (now known as Days Gone developer Sony Bend) explꦇained how Metal Gear Solid's trailer brought the convention to a standstill. That's partly because Konami played it every single hour, on a massive꧒ screen that dominated the convention hall.

"The first time the world saw this trailer, it was not just on some little TVs at the Konami booth. This was on a gigantic jumbotron screen that towered over everything. As I recall, every hour they would play that trailer, and for the entire convention this would become like appoinꩵtment viewing - there'd be a huge crowd and so everyone would come and sit and watch."

According to Ham, all that attention was well-deserved. "It was so next-level," he says, "so maﷺny interesting camera angles for everything. It felt so cinematic." For Ham and the team at Eidetic, that wasn't great news, since "cinematic ꦓgameplay was something I was trying very, very hard to achieve with Syphon Filter, with camera locks and being a fan of John Woo and action cinema."

That cinematic style wasn't the only similarity between Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid. Both games are semi-political thrillers with a blend of stealth and action gameplay. Given their early console l♎aunch, there's also a distinct visual similarity to get over, especially once you factor in protagonist Gabriel Logan's fetching, Snake-esque grey jumpsuit.

All those similarities were particularly hauntꦇing for Ham, who said that even though Syphon Filter eventually offered a "radically different kind of experience," he "was despairing" in the wake of that E3 trailer, because "it looked like [Konami] were doing everything that we were trying to do, better."

Eventually, it didn't really matter. Syphon Filter was critically and commercially successful, going on to spawn five sequels in the eight years following its release. It didn't become the kind of global phenomenon that Metal Gear Solid proved to be, admittedly, but 🥃very few games do, so perhaps an existence lived in the shadow of greatness is perfectly respectable.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will credit Hideo Kojima and the original developers since "they're a part of these games too."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Hideo Kojima’s iconic stealth game Metal Gear Solid is celebrated in the latest issue of Retro Gamer. Developers of rival stealth titles look at the impact of Konami’s game and explain how it influenced their own titles; from the debut of its ꧟monumental trailer at E3, to creating games in its wake.

“One thing you have to remember is that the first time the world saw this trailer, it was not just on some little TVs at the Konami booth,” r💖ecalls Richard Ham, who was the design lead on the PlayStation’s Syphon Filter. “This was on a gigantic jumbotron screen that towered over ev💞erything, I think it was the first time anything like that had ever happened at E3.”

One person who recalls Metal Gear Solid well is Jeremy Blaustein who worked closely with Kojima when he translaಌted the game for Konami. “I always viewed Solid Snake as an antihero,” says Jeremy. “That’s why in my mind the choice to make him sound lik꧅e Clint Eastwood was obvious. I wanted him raspy and tired of war, and someone burned out. In my mind, the Clint Eastwood character fit the bill exactly.”

Metal Gear Solid continues to influence games to this day with one of the latest examples being Antonio Freyre’s incoming release of As Time Surrenders. Antonio can still remember the first time he experienced Kojima’s game. “The first time I saw Metal Gear Solid was at a Blockbuster,” he explains. “They had the demo to play in the store. I didn’t understand En🍃glish back then so I had no clue what to do. I was stuck and couldn’t get past the [starting] Cavern area. Every time we went to Blockbu🐽ster, I’d try it again. I was captivated by this strange game where I had to hide.”

If sneaky shenanigans ꦜaren’t your cup of tea, there’s plenty of other great articles in our new issue. We go behind the scenes of the 8-bit classic Booty and we speak to Mike Hally and John Romero about their involvement with the popular Gauntlet series. We speak to Two Point Studios Mark Webley about his interesting career at Bullfrog and discover how Antony Crowther made Captain Planet And The Planeteers for the 16-bit home computers.

Other highlights include Ultimate Guides on the arcade hits Dead Or Alive 2 and Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, the 🦩origins of 221b Software Development, the making of the arcade classic Tron and theꦚ best PlayStation shmups to add to your collection.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is being remade in fancy fashion with this year's upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta, which is not only keeping the entirety of the original voice cast but also adding in totally new lines using old, previo🅘usly unused clips.

During the most rec🐈ent Metal Gear - Production Hotline episode, producer Noriaki Okamura confirmed that "for both Japanese and Engine, the story of the game and all the voice acting will be the same," and the team at Konami "definitely didn't do any recasting."

The only minor changes come from when characters give you "advice on how to play, especially the controls," which is a semi-frequent occurrence in the stealth series. The Konami developers encountered a slight wrinkle, though, since the remake includes a new control scheme, in addition to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:the "Legacy" contܫrols and color filters, and will be available on other, non-PS2ꦦ consoles.

"Some of those lines don't match up with the controls on c🐭onsoles now, and you can't really have that, so we've actually recorded new versions of just those lines," Okamura continued. "Sadly, some of the original cast is no longer with us, or couldn'ꦺt be available to record, so in those cases we've made sure that we have permission first, then went through and made use of their existing recordings to assemble the new lines."

"Anything to do with the story won't change, but there will be a few differences just to teach players the right controls," host Tsꦺukika Momoyama reiterated.

Elsewhere in the episode, we learned that series creator Hideo Kojima and the ꧙original staff will be credited in the new version, while one current producer says he'd "like ജnothing better" than for the fame🍌d director to return to the series.

"Metal Gear is dead, and you killed it" - MGS3 remake producer shares the "honest opinions" fans have sent Konami about the revival.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> A new from Konami has revealed a few detaiꦰls on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and the devs have taken the opportunity to share some of the feedback they've received from fans.

After soliciting questions and ♌comments on the current Metal Gear slate a few months ago, Konami got "an even greater response than we were hoping for, and many people shared very supportive messages," as producti💮on producer Noriaki Okamura explains. "We're truly grateful for all the kind words. But on the other hand, the fans that were watching have a lot of different feelings about the series, which we understand, because we're fans too. That's why, while we did get positive feedback, we had plenty of critical responses and requests as well."

The comments were 65% neutral, 24% positive, and 11% negative. That latter category included comments like "M🙈etal Gear is dead, and you killed it," "You can't even do a simple remaster right," "Bugs that impact gameplay should've been fixed before release," and "You'll probably do a bad job on the next game, so I'd rather you just give up."

Okamura notes that this is tough feedback, "but if this is what the fans feel, I don't blame any of them for sharing their honest opinions. And while we꧒ aren🍨't able to individually speak to all of these concerns, I want to, first of all, assure everyone that we are listening. We pay attention to this feedback, and we take it seriously."

It's worth noting again that Konami has categorized only 11% of the responses as negative - that leaves 89% as either neutral or positive. But a line like "Metal Gear is dead, and y🔯ou killed it" gets at why some longtime series fans are skeptical about Konami's revival of the series. The breakup between Konami and Hideo Kojima, long regarded as the auteur behind the espionage series, was famously messy, and the company didn't exactly put its best foot forward by converting Metal Gear Solid 5 into a follow-up like Metal Gear Survive - especially when it credited the original developers with a simple "special thanks" to "all staff."

That's one mistake Metal Gear Solid Delta won't repeat, at least. As part of this same broadcast, Okamura confirmed that the remake will credit Kojima and the origi🦋nal developers sܫince "they're a part of these games too."

With big projects like 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Death Stranding 2 and original concepts like 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:OD in the works, maybe it's for the best that Kojima himself has new horizons to pursue.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remakes the 2004 stealthy-action game with 🥃all the modern bells and whistles (and realistically rendered pores) you'd expect, but a few filters will still let you replicate the original Metal Gear Solid 3's look. In other words, the pee-yellow filter is making a comeback.

"After the new trailer, some commenters said they would like to play with the colors from the original," producer Noriaki Okamura explained in the most recent Metal Gear - Production Hotline episode on YouTube. "We do have multiple color filters you can cﷺhange between, applicable whether you are playing with New Style or Legacy Style," he continued, referring to the updated control settings and the old ones from the PS2 release that are both in the remake.

The two screenshots below compare the same shot in two different filters: the "Normal" color palate that the remake's introducing, and the "Legacy" filter that tries to echo the original game's yellowy-green hues. Scroll a little further and the embedded video will give you a look at two more ✤filters - a "Sepia" one that looks like it's been dr🍷enched in teabags and a "Retro" one that's much more purple - starting at around the 7-minute mark.

Metal Gear Solid Delta's changes to the original game's art style were slightly controversial with fans, so it's nice to see a lit🅷tle throwback option that might alleviate some complaints. Other HD-era remakes, like Shadow of the Colossus and Halo 2 A⛎nniversary for example, have also come under fire for ignoring the original's artistic intent in favor of a cleaned up, smoothed out 'realistic' look, so hopefully the trend above continues in future remakes/reimaginings/remasters.

Metal Gear Solid Delta is set to relea💞se sometime later thജis year on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.

A Metal Gear Solid 3 remake producer also said Konami would “like nothing better” than for OG director Hideo Kojima to come back and work on the series.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's pr𝐆oducer says it'd be "the dream" for Hideo Kojima and the other original staff members to return to Konami's stealth series in the future, but he knows "we can't just take it for granted that everyone would work with us again."

Speaking in the latest episode of the official Metal Gear – Production Hotline series on YouTube, Noriaꦛki Okamura was asked if there was any possibility of the original members of staff coming back in order to work, supervise, or co-develop Konami's iconic stealth series in the future. To this, he says it's "not my place to answer on behalf of anyone outside the company, or to guess how they might feel about it." However, as far as he's concerned, "I'd like nothing better than to work with Mr. Kojima and the rest of the team again. If that could happen, that would be the dream."

However, Okamura is aware that "our current reality" is one where "people have moved on to new things and new commitments," and so Konami "can't just take it for granted that everyone would work with us again, or let ourselves be completely dependent on them." He adds: "I just don't think it's right for us to be the ones to make that kind of demand of anyonꦫe. So we’re working with the expectation that whatever we make, it's up to us, it's on our shoulders to do a good job."

With that said, Okamura confirms that the original developers will still be listed in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's credits for their old roles, something which Konami already did with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. "They're a part of these games too, so absolutely,🤪 they're in," he says.

That's not to say that theꦚre are no members of the original staff on the team for the remake, though, as Okamura says "we do still have many of the same people who worked on the original" on the upcoming stealth game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set to release later this year on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with a pricey special edition that'll let you trap Naked Snake in a terrarium, if that's something you&♑apos;♏re interested in.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has a control system an𒀰d visual filter to harken back to the original Konami ga♋me.

A new action-packed trailer for Metal Gear S🍨o♏lid 3 remake last week showed off super-slick gameplay, with seamless stealth takedowns and superb new visuals for Naked Snake and his compatriots (plus enemi🐓es). It turns out Konami has added options for players familiar with the original 2004 game to bring Delta more in line with how the original Metal Gear Solid 3 played.

In the Xbox Podcast episode below, Metal Gear Solid series producer Noriaki Okamura was asked how Konami went about "modernizing a classic." Okamura says that "playability and controls are key to any action game," and so the developer has devised a way to "rework the camera and♉ the action to be comfortable by modern standar📖ds."

This is so that "if you're more used to a contemporary third-person style, you can pick up and play Delta right away," according to Okamura. "But of course, we had the option for ev✅eryone to choose their preferred style. You can use a more contemporary over-the-shoulder viewpoint, which we have called 'New Style,' or we have 'Legacy Style' with an overhead camera like the original," the Metal Gear Solid series producer continues.

Okamura elaborates𓆏 on the Legacy Style for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, adding that not only does it have a control scheme resembling the original 2004 game, but also "applies a visual filter to more faithfully recreate th🅺e screen look of the original game." If you don't like the smooth and polished look of Delta, simply whack on the Legacy Style, and you'll give Konami's remake a more aged look.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snak💯e Eater's release date looked to have leaked earlier this week before GameStop clarified that, no, it ha✅dn't leaked the release date for Konami's remake - it was all just a big mistake. Since the most recent Snake Eater trailer omitted a release window entirely, we're left in the dark as to when the remake could potentially arrive.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Update: In a new tweet, r♈etailer GameStop has clarified that it didn't leak the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater release date after all.

Today, GameStop put out the tweet below, writing that a previous ღpost "had an incorrect release date" for꧒ Metal Gear Solid 3's forthcoming remake. This puts the Konami remake back into the murky waters of release date speculation, with no release window on the cards at the time of writing.

The original article follows below.

Original: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater might be ꦑlaunching on November 17 later this year, accord🍷ing to a now-deleted post from GameStop.

As first reported, GameStop's official Twitter account tweeted yesterday, June 10, that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake would be out later this year on November 17. Konami's most recent promo for its remake, the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new action-packed Metal Gear Solid Delta tr𝕴ailer at last week's Xbo𒊎x Games Showcase, omitted a release date♚.

At the time, the lack of a release date - or even release window, for that matter - could've indicated that Metal Gear Solid 3's remake was in danger of slipping out of its original 2024 release window. In all fairness, it was never Konami that announced the 2024 release window for its remake - it was Sony, earlier this year, that first publicized the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:2024 releas🎉e window for Metal Gear Sol🐬id Delta.

For what it's worth, November 17 falls on a Sunday this year, and practically no game in the history of video games has been released on a weekend, let alone a Sunday. If Metal Gear Solid Delta does inexplicably release on November 17, though, it'll actually fall on the 20th ann🐷iversary of the original Konami game launching. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

What we do know for certain about Konami's new game is that Metal Gear Solid Del꧒ta is upgrading the original game's medical system, so every wound and scar on Snake will stay on his body until the end of the game. It's also, thankfully, keeping the du🌟mbest detail about the original Metal Gear Solid 3 - 𒆙Snake's super-secret mission not being so sဣecretive after all.

For $200, you too can trap Naked Snake in a terrarium with the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake collector's edition.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Konami has unveiled Deluxe and Collector&ap🌳os;s editions of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and they include some really neat bonuses even if they're pretty pricey, with the best of all being a terrarium featuring Snake retr🙈ieving his backpack from a tree.

The two special ℱeditions were first shown off during the second part of the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series on YouTube, but can now be viewed on the , too. The Collector's edition is priced at $199.99, and is only available in the U.S., while the Deluxe edition only appears to be available in Europe (it's listed at £89.99 in the UK).

There's some crossover between the two special editions – both appear to feature the same metal game case, as well as a FOX fabric patch and will give access to a currently unknown early purchase bonus as well as the 'Sneaking DLC Pack.' Beyond that though, they're pretty different. The Deluxe edition includes a selection of art cards and a metal exclamation point keyring all packaged up in a fancy box, while the Collector's edition includes an even bigger box with a rubber HALO patch, a replica of Naked Snake's fake ID card, and the star of the show, the terrarium diorama. 🌞You can take a look at the video below.

That's right, the big draw of the Collector's edition is no ordinary figure. The terrarium features Naked Snake and the tree where he grabs his backpack in the Virtuous Mission, complete with some foliage and rocks to set the scene. It already looks really cool, but on Konami's website, it's also outlined that all the pieces are removable so that you can set it up however you want, and "it is even possible to repaint the items or grow your own plants." Something about tra🎐pping Snake in the box as his transparent home slowly fills with real moss is rather funny, but it's definitely a top-notch collector's item to include.

Konami still hasn&aposꦑ;t officially revealed the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater𝓰, but it's set to launch sometime this year, and pre-orders are open now.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear S🌳olid Delta: Snake Eater is officially keeping the dumbest, and arguably greatest, detail from the orig🤡inal Konami game.

Metal Gear Solid 3's remake just received a brand new actꦗion-packed trailer at Summer Game Fest 2024, showcasing Naked Snake&ap♐os;s debut mission against his former mentor. It was a pretty thrilling trailer, all things told, showing Snake taking down helicopters, going against multiple foes in hand-to-hand combat, and even coming face to face with The Boss herself.

It also, crucially, showcased the original game's silliest detail. As seen in the tweet below, Naked Snake's incredibly covert🦩, super-secret mission for the American government is to leave no trace of his presence, and this is entirely undone in the opening minutes of the entire game when the super soldier throws down a helmet reading 'US Army.' Oops.

One Twitter user comes with a sublime expl꧒anation for the whole thing: "He just stashed it the same place he keeps all his camo makeup and multiple assault rifles and rocket launchers and stuff." Yeah, that'll do it. Maybe he also eats the heꦆlmet like all the poisonous frogs and other deadly creatures throughout Metal Gear Solid 3's jungle.

We also now know that Me🌼tal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater makes Snake retain all his injuries for the whole of the game, effectively making him a walking hospital patientꦓ at all times. I can't wait to have Snake repeatedly patch himself up after taking bullets to the gut and having him look something like Frankenstein's monster by the time he faces The Boss.

Take a look at our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new games 2024 guide for an overview of all the games probably arriving before Konami's remake.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Metal-gear ]]> Metal Gear Solid 3 remake has upgraded its "batt🐼le damage system" so every wound on Snake and his clothes will permanently remain for the rest of the game.

Yesterday at the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Xbox Games Showcase for Summer Game Fest 2024, Konami debuted an action-packed new trailer🥀 for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Curiously, one omitted detail from the trailer popped up on , which was then reported by : Snake will permanently retain injuries on his 📖body and clothes.

"The battle damage system has been upgraded, with the wear and tear of Snake's clothes, as well as bruises and bullet wounds on his body, reflected in real-time," proclaims Konami's o🦩fficial website of Metal Gear Solid 3's remake. "Any injuries to his actual body will leave their mark permanently, telling a story of each player's unique journey through the game."

This is excellent, obviously, but it also weirdly feels like an expansion of the boss fight against The Sorrow. The original Metal Gear Solid 3 kept a tracker of everyone you'd murder🌊ed and then had their ghostly remains walking at you down a river during the boss fight against The Sorrow, as the antagonist basically taunts you for all the poor soldiers you've gunned down. Now you're carrying even more history with you in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

It sort of goes without saying that Metal Gear Solid fans, both new and old, love the added d♍etail in Konami's remake. Everyone's basically making the same joke: their Naked Snake's are going to look like death by the time they're halfway through the game, let alone facing down The Boss at the conclusion of the🃏 whole stealth-espionage adventure.

This definitely does feel like a feature Hideo Kojima would🧸've tried to add in the original game, only to be told "no" by his budget and producers. I suppose this actually is a Kojima feature, in a way - The Phantom Pain would let you sustain bloody details from bat♛tles if you pointedly refused to use a shower and refresh Punished Snake. I guess this is a nice little follow-up, in a way.

Take a look at our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new games 2024 guide for an overview of all the games probably arriving before Konami's remake.
