But when Square Enix announced that 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 wer🦄e being developed alongside it for PC, Xbox, PS5, and Switch, that wait made a bit more sense.

And now, just under a year out from that announcement – to celebrate Dragon Quest Day – that not only are the games coming to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Switch 2, but they're coming out on October 30, 2025.

Considering that Dragon Quest 3 did 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:better "than initially assumed" with the Switch version doing significantly better than the others (if the are a💖nything to go by), it's no surprise Square wants to get in on the Switch 2 hype🌞.

Unfortunately, that song we've had to sing for almost every third-party Switch 2 game – , meanꦅing you'll need to download the full game, even if you have the cartridge in your Switch 2.

Alongside the new announcement, a number of press previews for the upcoming remakes have dropped. In our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:GamesRadar+ preview, Tom Regan said, "Whether you're slaying your first slimes in Alefgard or the thought of playing Dragon Warrior on ﷺa CRT makes you embarrassingly misty-eyed, it's hard not to be charmed by this loviღng ode to gaming past."

He later added, "While Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake are largely a continuation of what Square did with the third game, these lovingly made refreshes are shaping up to be a wonderfully accessible way to experience a crucial piece of gaming history."

So, we can add Dragon Quest 1&2 HD-2D Remake to the list of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming Switch 2 games, even if it's one of those lame key cards.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> As Y2K fashion trends dominate Tik Tok, Stranger Things and the 2010s rush to capitalize on the ‘80s feels like a distant memory – with noughties nostalgia now Hollywood’s hot new ticket. A return trip to Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake makes it seem as though someone forgot to send Square Enix the memo. While nu metal bands once again fꦬill arenas and indie devs swap sprite-based sidescrollers for PS1-style polygons, Square Enix is turning the clock back to where the Japanese RPG began – 1989’s Dragon Warrior.

Yes, Dragon Warrior. Released back on Nintendo's very first console, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), in the United States the humble D🌠ragon Quest went by a different name. Europe, on the other hand, didn't get a single taste of the Dragon Quest fruit until 2004's Dragon Quest 8 on PS2. Overworlds, turn-based battles, stats – in Japan, these early NES titles that make up Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake popularized the RPG conventions that are vital to the genre now, laying the groundwork for the all-conquering Final Fantasy.

Now, in a bid to reintroduce Dragon Quest to the world, Square Enix is finishing what it started last November with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Taking a confusingly Star Wars-like approach to storytelling, Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake picks up where last year’s luscious prequel left off. Telling the tale of King Erdrick, ꦡthese first two titles actually conclude the high fantasy trilogy's storyline, lovingly preserving and repackaging these pioneering pixel RPGs by blowing the dust off and imbuing them with some much-needed spit✅ and polish.

Put into the pointy leather shoes of the unimaginatively named Hero, this double pack is once again developed by the creators of Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler, Team Asano. As the charmingly rendered sprites designed by Dragon Ball creator A💝kira Toriyama shuf🐠fle across sharply rendered backgrounds, it’s impossible not to smile – even seven years after Octopath Traveler first wowed us with its eye-catching HD-2D art style.

If you've ever played a sprite-based RPG, you can't resist the charms of this cozy little remake. These expressive little sprites and comfortingly simple story capture that feeling of having your head buried in a Game Boy during long childhood car rides – and as I dive into Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake at Square Enix HQ, I’m immediately transported to a simpler age. Where 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Final Fantasy 7 Remake f🅰undamentally changes the feel of the original – for better and for worse – playing these shiny Dragon Quest remakes today feels like a platonic ideal of an RPG, the rose-tinted memory of 8-bit and 16-bit epics i🀅n your head.

Like the best remakes, this double pack captures the charm of a bygone era while imbuing it with all the modern gaming luxuries that we now take for granted. Everything on your journey now exists to make the core adventuring as enjoyable as possible, giving players the options to remove the genre’s arcane annoyances or to opt to play with them sadistically intact. The most obvious quality of life improvements are to the battle system, once again transforming the archaic grind of NES turn based battling into a furiously fast frenzy or even a skippab🌳le afterthought, letting players toggle auto b♛attle and switch between four different battle speeds.

Death is less of a hair-pulling frustration this time around, too. If your entire party falls on the battlefield, you can count on the modern magic of autosave🥂 to instantly let you replay the fight again, skipping a frustrating retracing of footsteps. Where these classic RPGs often had your objective uttered once by an NPC and then immediately forgotten, here, any time you speak to some💯one, you can choose to commit the last thing you heard to memory, ensuring that you always know what your objective is, even if you've booted your 20 hour save file again after a four month absence.

Churches still allow you to save manually in classic fashion, as well as letting you buff your party. Yet each party member’s individual death remains refreshingly old school. Slain party members can only be resurrected by visiting your local church, their corpse following you in a comically rendered coffin sprite until they’ve been revived. In true Catholic fashion, tho꧋ugh, you must cough up gold in order to receive this divine blessing, of course.

"💙Grass sways in the wind behind an army of slime."

The battlefields are bursting with newfound personality. In a nice touch, backdౠrops to turn based battles m♒atch the background of wherever you’re standing in the overworld map. Grass sways in the wind behind an army of slime, casting a sizz spell scorches a murder of stark ravens with a vibrant flame.

Yet like with last year’s Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, it’s the laviꦺsh fully orchestrated soundtrack that really seals the deal. Performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, those once distorted 8 bit bleeps and warbles have been utterly transformed into cinema-worthy scores, with battles and exploration transformed into rousing jaunts, each soaring string section putting a spring in your step. In a nice touch, the lush modern orchestra is broken up with authentically distorted bitcrushed battle noises, with those classic level up and door opening noises left pleasingly intact.

Voice of reason

A hero approaches a monument in the first game in Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake

Like with the third game's overhaul, pivotal story moments across these two games also get the fully voice acted treatment, with players able to experience the delightful melodrama in English or Japanese. Non-voiced dialogue is still charming enough, mixed with your classic ye olde text crawl, or even brought to life between important characters with expressive anime style animations appearing above their head with a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Golden Sun-esque charm.

Where many games have become increasingly complex, Square Enix have smartly opted to make the core adventuring as simple as possible. Tutorials pop up explaining what items do, and these optional quality of life improvements remove the frustrating quirk that makes it a pain to return to these early RPGs today, ironing out the kinks and turning these classics into a breezy good time. The map system is a lifesaver, to𓄧o, ⛎allowing you to always see your objective on the map, saving hours of frustration by eliminating aimless wandering.

I only get twenty minutes with each game, with Dragon Quest 2 being party-focused like the NES original. Yet during my time ♊with the first game, as I save a villager from a monster-ridden town, he enthusiastically encourages me to capture any monsters I see roaming the overworld – a nod to Dragon Quest 5 and the Dragon Quest Monsters games. Whether these monste𓆉rs are purely collectable and remain in an arena in town (as is the case in Dragon Quest 3), or are partymon pals that fight alongside you a-la Dragon Quest 5, however, still remains to be seen.

While games like 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Sea of Stars provide quirky love letters to their genre forefathers, Square Enix has instead opted to just let you replay the classics with minimal meddling, polishing their rust soaked code into a pleasingly accessible new package. Whether you're slaying your first slimes in Alefgard or the thought of playing Dragon Warrior on a CRT makes you embarrassingly misty eyed, it's hard not to be🌳 charmed by this loving ode to gaming past.

The playable equivalent of sipping a steaming hot chocolate on a frosty winter evening, I feel a wave of warm, fuzzy nostalgia wash over me throughout my demo – despite not even being born when the original hit shelves. It’s the perfect mix of 8-bit charm with modern sheen, and once again leaves me crying out for Game Freak to remake those classic Pokemon games in this gorgeous art style. While Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake are largely a continuation of what Sq꧅uare did with the third game, these lovingly made refreshes are shaping up to be a wonderfully accessible way to experience a crucial piece of gaming history.

But despite the total ওlack of communication on Square Enix's part, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii maintains that it's still in development and that the team is working hard on it.

Speaking to , Horii was asked about the status of Dragon Quest 12, and while he couldn't reveal anything too specific, he did say, "I am making it, putting lots of work into it," adding, "I can only say that the next work will be great too, working really hard🌸. Please look forward to it, 💫is the only thing I can say."

However, despite this answer telling us nothing specific about the JRPG, he did give a hint of a potential 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game, saying, "Yes, I believe it could be compatible with🥂 Switch 2 as well." However, he didn't specify if he was referring to Dragon Quest 12 specifically or the serie🍒s in general, but given how well Dragon Quest 11 S and the , I would be stunned if the next game didn't arrive on the upcoming console.

Considering that this will be the first new Dragon Quest installment since the passing of both the series composer – Koichi Sugiyama – and the series' main artist – Dragon Ball crea🙈tor Akira Toriyꩵama – not to mention the 🔯continued development of the Dragon Quest 10 MMO going into the 2020s, it's unsurprising that Dragon Quest 12 may need a bit more time than ⛦previous games.

Plus, this is a big game, as Square Enix says it's set to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:shape the series for the ꦦnext 20 years. Let's just hope we get it before Dragon Quest 11 turns 10 years old in 2027.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii is teaming up with Blue Lock manga author Muneyuki Kaneshiro for 🍒a new Ninten♈do Switch game destined to ruin your friendships. And that sounds like a blast.

Japanese game developer Any Inc. is working with ArtePiazza to develop the new dark fantasy multiplayer game, tentatively called Reincarnation Game, which is based on the popular Japanese board game Sugoroku. No gameplay or even images of the game have surfaced so far, but in a machine-translated , it's billed as "a game𒅌 that will definitely cause conflict between friends."

It's not exactly crystal clear how gameplay will work, but Any Inc. says it takes place in the afterlife, and the goal of all players is to reincar♈nate, but the only way to do that is "by knocking each other down." Killing each other, essentially, which you can do by using Karma to "sabotage or betray other players... The closer you get to victory, the more your friendships will be destroyed."

💦Horii is working on the game as an advis♋or, while Kaneshiro is concept planner. Any Inc's Ayaka Sato is game director.

"I still can't believe I was able to create a game with such dream people as Horii-san and Kaneshiro-san," Sato said in a statement that was machine-translated from the original Japanese. "We will continue to develop 'Rebirth Game' with the aim of making it a 'messy and awesome game' that everyone can laug﷽h at, sometimes 🌃fight with, and still think 'I want to play it again.'"

Horii said he decided to join the project s𒁏imply because he found it "very interesting" and original. "I'm looking forward to making a game that everyone can laugh at and have fun with, and thꦯat they'll want to play again and again," he said.

Going off the fairly barebones marketing materials at this point, I'm going to say Reincarnation Game is still very early in development. That said, Any Inc. did peg it for release in 2026, which almost surely means it's coming to Switch 2, although that isn't made explicitly clear.

Yoko Taro hid Nier's save-deleting twist from the game's producer, who thought it was an homage to Dragon Quest: "Apparently it wasn't an homage to Dragon Quest."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> These days, there's sadly more full price tags for Nintendo Switch games and fewer deals. The kind of huge discounts we saw over the Black Friday and holiday period just a few months ago, won't return until the next big event comes around. Fortunately, big retailers like Amazon and Walmart have savings on some major 2024 Switch releases, which I'd pick up in a heartbeat if I didn't already own them.

Right now you can grab Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D for just , saving you 16% off its MSRP of $59.99. This discount isn't the澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询: best cheap Nintendo Switch🎶 game sale at retailers like Amazon right now, even where Dragon Quest games are considered. But it is the first ever discount the Dragon Quest remake has seen so far.

Originally launching last November, it's taken over four months for the RPG to see any significant drop in price. This is pretty normal where Switch games are considered, however, even its PS5 and Xbox versions are seeing their price ever price drop right now. With that in mind, its small saving of $9 is still worth making aꦉ fuss over - especially if you want to prepare yourself for playing through Dragon Quest 1&2 HD-2D Remake later in the year.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake |
Save over $9 -
A saving of just $9 may not be the biggest saving, but this is the first discount I've ever spotted for the Switch version of the Dragon Quest remake. The game was released last November, so it's no surprise that it hasn't yet significantly dropped in price, however, 16% off its MSRP of $59.99 is still worth hig🐠hlighting.

Buy it if:

✅ You love the Dragon Quest series
✅ Turn-based combat is your thing
✅ You prefer orchestrated Dragon Quest OSTs

Don't buy it if:

❌ You're not a fan of HD 2D games
❌ You want to play the classic version of the game
❌ You'd rather own the PS5 or Xbox version

I'll admit it, while I own D🔯ragon Quest 3 HD❀ 2D, I haven't actually played it yet. My gaming backlog is ridiculous, and other RPGs like Unicorn Overlord took precedence. However, as a long-time Akira Toriyama fan, and someone who holds Dragon Quest 11 in high regard, buying it day one felt like an absolute no-brainer.

If, 🐼like myself, you're a fan of that re-imagined take on old-school RPGs featuring a mixture of old pixel art as HD 3D re𒁏nders, featuring in games like Octopath Traveler 1 and 2, Triangle Strategy and the Live A Live remake, then you'll love how this Switch game looks. You can pick up the original Dragon Quest 3 on the Nintendo eShop, or in a physical collection, but this remake is for those who want a more modern version of the game with plenty of quality-of-life features included.

GameRadar's own Oscar Taylor-Kent calls the RPG a "pixel-perfect overhaul" of the original game澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D review. By today's st🌳andards, the game isn't as densely packed with content as modern RPGs, however, "every town and dungeon has been modernized fantastically to feel more like real." Square Enix also made sure to include plenty of updates to make it a lot easier to play if you aren't up for the challenges that came with some of the first major RPGs of its kind - from being able to save in Churches, to difficulty settings and a modernized UI.

Most importantly, if you were planning to add Dragon Quest 1&2 HD-2D Remake to your Switch coll🃏ection, you'll need to play this first. While it may be called 'Dragon Quest 3', it's actually set before the first two games, which is why its HD-2D version was released first. Luckily, with this first discount, you can prepare for the other games and save some cash in the procꩵess.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has been a surprise sale🍬s success, says publisher Square Enix.

In its latest for the nine-month fiscal period that ended on December 31, Square Enix says its "HD game sub-segment," which refers to its big tentpole releases like Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, saw a decline in sales compare to the previous fiscal year. That's because "new title𒀰s generated lower sales than releases such as 'FINAL FANTASY XVI,' 🀅'FINAL FANTASY PIXEL REMASTER,' and 'Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince' had the previous year."

Thankfully, Dragon Que𒀰st 3 HD-2D Remake, along with "lower development cost amortization and advertising expenses compared with the same period of the previous year," saved the day. Square Enix reports that the Dragon Quest 3 remake raked in "stronger sales" than "initially assumed."

That's fairly encouraging news amid news of so many big and well-received RPGs, including Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Final Fantasy 16, and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth failing to satisfy sales expectations. Back in September, Square Enix a🧸♎dmitted it might've been cannibalizing its own games and slapped several of its most anticipated RPGs with the classic "below exp♔ectations" line we hear far too often in these financial reports. It's refreshing to hear some good news about an RPG for a change, and a relatively niche one at that.

In our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD writeup, we praised the beautifully modernized graphics but warned that the 36-year-old JRPG might not be the most app🔯roachable thing for newcomers to the genre.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate was announced almost four years ago, if you can believe it, but despite news being incredibly light on the ground sin🐻ce, series creator Yuji Horii has confirmed that the devs are still "working hard" on it.

The next new Dragon Quest instalment was first revealed during the series' 35th Anniversary livestream back in 2021 alongside 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, and while the latte🃏r was finally released last year, we're still yet to see anything of The Flames of Fate other than its logo. However, speaking in a alongside his KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku radio show group (💦), Horii shuts down concerns that the JRPG could be canceled, and says he hopes the team will be able to gradually share more about it.

Of course, Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate isn't the only Dragon Quest game in the works at Square Enix, as 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:HD-2D remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 are set to release at some point this y🐬ear, completing the HD-2D collection of the original trilogy. The upcoming remakes don't have an exact release date just yet, but they should be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC b🦋efore the end of 2025.

Back in 2021, it was hinted that Dragon Quest 12 will shake up the series as we know it, at least somewhat, as the then president of Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda, said it'll take "into account the next 10 to 20 years" of the series, noting that while some parts will fit into the traditional Dragon Quest image, "new elements are also necessary." What that'll look like in the full release is yet to be seen – after all, we've not even had a proper trailer yet, but with Square Enix's track record of creating some of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best JRPGs🐻 out there, it's definitely worth staying excited about.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3's 2024 remake is ce♏rtainly proof enough of the game's quality, but during its development, designer Yuji Horii believed that in order for the game to be successful, it needed to be muꦕltiple times better than the first two games in the series.

In an interview conducted the day before Dragon Quest 3's initial 1988 release, originally featured in BEEP Magazine aꦛnd n🌳ow available on , designer Yuji Horii, along with director Koichi Nakamura and composer Koichi Sugiyama, spoke about the process of creating the game, including the challenge of improving on Dragon Quest 1 and 2.

"DQ2 had to be twice as interesting as DQ1," Horii begins, concerning how Dragon Quest had changed across its three titles. "Otherwise people wouldn't say it was fun; in fact, they'd say it was boring if it was just the same. And in that sense, DQ3 had to be four times as interestiౠng as DQ1."

While the difficulty of iterating on the previous two titles was an issue for the team, they maintain that it was easier in many senses as players were now used to many of the game's concepts. "I think it's easier now that it's a series, a known entity. Players understand a lot of the underlyi🐷ng conventions and ideas of the game without us needing to explain anything. For that reason I think the first Dragon Quest, in which we had to establish all those rules, was probably the hardest development of the three," Nakamura explains.

To this, Horii adds that "We took great care in DQI to make sure the players understood the whole idea of leveling up and getting stronger. That meant we had to be very careful about the speed at which you level up, and make sure that when you bought a 🙈better weapon you would clearly feel the difference. Those kind of subtle balancing thin🐷gs were a big challenge back then."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and Final Fantasy father Hironobu Sakaguchi are undou😼btedly two JRPG legends, so it should make ev🔜eryone's days better to learn that neither famed developer has plans to stop any time soon.

To promote Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and Sakaguchi's Fantasian: Neo Dimension - both released this yea𝄹r and both published by Square Enix - the two genre heavyweights sat down to talk about their games, 🐈their influences, the little details that really make them pop, and what lies ahead with .

"Like Mr Sakaguchi, I think I'll continue to make games for a long time," Hori says in the interview, translated with machine learning. "I've never thought about retirement. Sakaguchi also chimed in on what's next, though he isn't tied to a single franchise as closely as Horii is. After stewarding the Final Fantasy series for more than 10 games, Sakaguchi left to open his own studio called Mistwalker, where he put out cult classics like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, before eventually reu🌱niting with his old friends at Square Enix for Fantasian: New Dimension.

"There are many things that I can't talk about, but I'm working on a new project," Sakaguchi says, likely referring to his unannounced dark fanﷺtasy game that&aposꦰ;s in development with iconic composer Nobuo Uematsu on board. "I can't tell you what exactly I'm working on, but it's beeꦍn about a year since I wrote the script, so I'm in a situation where I think I'll be able to get to a good point in about two years."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Final Fantasy 6 was fairly recently touched up for the 2023 Pixel Remaster, but apparently that isn't enough for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake producer Masaaki Hayasaka.

The long-awaited remake of Dragon Quest 3 finally released last week to largely positive reviews, with the bulk of the praise going to the beaut💧ifully redrawn pixel art that Square Enix popularized with Octopath Traveler and which is now the studio's go-to style when making sprite-based games.

Asked by which game in Square Enix's catalog he'd most like to see ♛get the same treatment, Hayasaka chose the 1994 RPG Final Fantasy 6, namely because its lovely pixels were reference points while making Octopathꦿ Trveler.

"It's not that we have concrete plans for this, but personally I would have to 🃏say Final Fantasy VI," Hayasaka said. "Octopath Traveler—the first HD-2D title—was developed while referencing FFVI, as it had the highest quality pixel art. I would love to see how the 😼game we referenced would look with the HD-2D art style.

"Because this art style itself was created while referencing such titles, ⭕it's highly compatible with games originally made using pixel art. This compatibility is probably why people feel this style is a match made in heaven with these types of remakes."

Tempering expectations for a potential Final Fantasy 6 HD-2D Remake, Hayasaka added that working with this unique art style demands a "higher sense of arti🍃stic sensibility."

In a separate interview, Hayasaka said he'd "love" to do more HD-2D remakes generally, but expressed concern that Square Enix is oversaturating the market with nine related releases in seven yearꦰs.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The producer behind Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remak𒈔e would "love to consider" freꦇshening up other entries in the JRPG series, but a few worries would need to be alleviated first.

Speaking to , producer Masaaki Hayasaka says that while remaking more Dragon Quest games is “something I’d love to consider,🍌" it would depend on how Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D is received and whether Square Enix feel🔯s it is overdoing it on HD-2D games.

“If we wer𝔍e to release too many games in succession, that would lead to people being bored of those games,” he says. “On the flipside,꧂ if there’s too much of a span between launches, that can also lead to the series not seeming as vibrant and robust anymore. It’s a sensitive topic. It’s something that even my supervisors are constantly unsure and mulling over.”

To unpack that, the Dragon Quest 3 remake will be followed by an 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:HD-♈2D glow-up ꧒for the first two games. That may seem odd at a glance, but the third game is a prequel ♛to Dragon Quest 1 and 2, so it's lo⛎gical enough.

As for the rest of Square Enix's offering of HD-2D games, you've got the games that kicked the art style off in Octopath Traveler 1, 2, and Champions of the Continent alongside the likes of Triangle Strategy. You've also got others from Square Enix's back catalog that have benefited from remakes, such as Live a Live and Star Ocean: The Second Story R. All bangers, in fairness, though you can see how intern🐬al development orders for HD-2D games could spiral for here.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Even after 36 years, Dragon Quest 3 remains one of the most beloved JRPGs out there. And if you thought remaking it for ﷺa modern audience might put a heap of pressure on the developers at Square Enix's Team Asano, you'd be right.

Speaking to (thanks ), producer Masaaki Hayasaka and concept artist Naoki Ikushima share that the success of games like Octopath Traveler 2 aꦕnd what it did to popularise the HD-2D art style didn't mean they'd approach the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake project lightly.

"Obviously, I was aware of ♔the fact that it's a legendary title, so the greatest pressure I felt was, 'If this fails, I won't be able to stay in the industry," Hayasaka jokes. "I'll have to live m☂y life branded as the man who failed to remake a legendary game."

Thankfully, series creat♋or Yuji Horii was on hand to consult when 🥂needed. Hayasaka says great care went into recreating the original JRPG, though not every idea made it through. In fact, at one point, the team was mulling over a 3D remake, though the idea was quickly tossed in the development bin.

"3D would significantly change the experience compared to the original," Hayasaka says. "HD-2D was a better option as it would allow us to balance 𓆉the nostalgia with the new."

Rather, the changes that did make it t💟o theℱ final game were more about quality-of-life updates like hints alongside other accessibility-related improvements.

"The hint fe𓂃ature was our idea," Hayasaka shares. "While our base concept was to preserve the playing experience of the original as much as possible, we wanted to thoroughly change the parts of the original that were difficult to interact with or made it difficult to play."

Thankfully, the results look worth it. We'v🦂e played D🍷ragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake ourselves and have been impressed. The spruced-up JRPG is a "pixel-perfect overhaul," though the game's retained difficulty will likely delight old h♔eads and frustrate some newcomers.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii has shared the thought process behind one of the JRPG's harshest long-running mechanics – losing half of your money after falling in battle – and it turns out that it was actually considered a kindness in comparison to how players could have been penalized.

As reported by (and ), Horii explained on a talk show that a lot of it boils down to the fact that RPGs and JRPGs weren't nearly as popular in 1986 – when 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 1 first released –ﷺ as they are now. That means that players were naturally far less familiar with the crucial mechanic of gaining experience in battles in order to level up, which they'd need to do to get stronger and take on tougher foes throughout their journeys.

With that in mind, Horii clearly wanted players to see the virtues of leveling up, because no matter how many times they fell in battle, they'd never lose any progress made or experience gained – they'd be able to continue getting gradually stronger to get through the story. Losin𝓡g half their money instead was an alternative, more gentle punishment for losing fights, with Horii no♈ting that he "decided to keep the penalty at just that."

Basically, it sounds like the incentive to level up was the reassurance that it'd never be a waste of time – a point that was more important to hammer home at a time when it⛎ was more common for some games to make you lose a lot of progress, or even start from scratch if you lost. Si൲nce the money-losing mechanic has been kept intact since the start of the Dragon Quest series 38 years ago, it now seems more harsh since holding onto your experience and levels is just the expected thing, but Horii was actually taking mercy on new JRPG fans at the time. With how popular Dragon Quest became, it clearly wasn't a bad idea at all.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> It's been clarified that comments supposedly made by Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and former Shonen Jump editor Kazuhiko Torishima about certain changes implemented in the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake were mistranslated.

Earlier this week, a clip of Horii and Torishima – hosts of radio show KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku – speaking on a talk show during Tokyo Game Show was shared around on social media with unofficial English subtitles. The clip, which ꦐat the time seemed to show the pair discussing changes made to certain Dragon Quest costumes as well as the selectable appearance of the protagonist in the upcoming remake, even ended up being shared by Elon Musk, but according to a new statement posted by KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku (translated and ), the translation of that viral clip wasn't a❀ccurate in the first place.

In the statement from the talk show's participants, it's claimed that the English subtitles were "mistranslated," giving the example that "puritan" was incorrectly interpreted as "sex education" in the video. Beyond that, it's alleged that some parts of the comments made by Horii and Torishima were "deliberately cut out of context and quoted as if the speaker was expressing a negative opinion against a certain ideology or belief" and ultimately shared "in a way that is far removed from the true meaning of the comments and the original content and message of the video💙 in question."

KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku hasn't provided a full new translation🙈 of the clip, but requested that people avoid dissecting parts of comments and quoting them "for the purpose of reinforcing the legitimacy of your own opinion."

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is set to launch next month, and producer Masaaki Hayasaka previously explained that the devs want players to have the "same feeling" exploring its world as they'd have in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, soไ it sounds like we can get ready to ge💮t delightfully lost in its beautiful pixel art world.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake may have "never happened𒁏" if it wasn't for the popular art style.

Since Octopath Travꦿeler launched in 2018, the fresh spin on pixel art has been used in several Square Enix games, proving quite handy when bringing old properties 💖back to life specifically, as seen in Live A Live and Star Ocean The Second Story R.

Dragon Quest 3 is the latest JRPG banger from yesteryear to get some HD-2D TLC. Speaking at a Gamescom group interview through an interpreter, producer Masaaki Hayasaka says approaching the remake with that specific art style was so importa𝔉nt that it might not have happened at all if the team didn't have access to it.

"They are quite retro games, and we just thought that this HD-2D style was the perfect style to represent them graphically in a remake," Hayasaka says. "I think pretty much everyone in the co♏mpany was in agreement about that.

"There wasn't ever a question, so in terms of how important it is, I think it would be fair to say that if we didn't have this HD-2♏D art style accessible to us, then maybe this remake would have never happened."

Series creator Yuji Horii adds: "And I think that rather than 3D, being able to ex🦹plore this space in 2D is really what was part of the enjoyment of the original. So we wanted to keep what made the original so special and so fun and bring it into the modern era, which is why this HD-2D style just works so well."

We're certainly not here to argue. After playing Dra🐽gon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake for 30 minutes, we can see how the art style brings a fresh sense of charm to a beloved gem, just like it did with Live A Live and Star Ocean. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D releases November 14, 2024, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:HD-2D remakes of Dragon Quest 1 🍬and 2 are on the way next year, too.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is shaping up to be a gorgeous revival for the classic 1988 JRPG, but its devs actually took inspiration from "a lot of modern games," including 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, to bring it to life over 35 years later.

In a group Q&A session at Gamescom 2024 attended by GamesRadar+, remake producer Masaaki Hayasaka explains (via interpreter) that the dev team wanted to evoke that same feeling you ꦚget from seeing something interesting in the distance and wanting to go there that Breath of the Wild pulls off so well. "We really took inspiration from🐼 a lot of games, particularly a lot of modern games," he begins. "To give an example that I'm sure you'll all understand, there's Breath of the Wild, one of the Zelda games.

"As you're traversing the open world in Breath of the Wild, you can see a building in the distance and be like, &apo🅷s;I want to go there,' and then it makes you want to go there and travel," he continues. "We wanted to capture that same feeling with the world map here. So if you see something sparkling in the distance, you're like, 'I wanna go there.'"

That 🐠world that the team has recreated is also housing new secrets to find, so even those who've played the original beginning to end multiple times will be able to find some fresh surpriseꦍs. On this, series creator Yuji Horii says: "We've made this vast world, and it's really beautiful, so we thought it'd be fun if you could explore it and find lots of different things. We just wanted to capture that sort of sense of joy."

There's only a couple more months to go until Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake's launch on November 14, and from what I played during my 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:hands-on preview session at Gamescom, it definitely feels like it could be the cherry on top of a fantastic year for JRPG fans. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> There's no denying that 2024 has been – and continues to be༺ – a phenomenal year for JRPGs, and just in case there was any semblance of doubt, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake seems to be shaping up to be the icing on the cake.

I was given around 30 minutes with Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake at Gamescom 2024, and to tell you the truth, once I was set loose on its huge open world, which is full of secrets to unearth and an enticing main quest to follow, I struggled to decide what to do first. However, I set off by entering the Monster Arena – an area that's been tweaked a little from the original game to becom🧜e a 3v3 monster battle showdown, where you can pit the monsters you've captured wi❀th the new Monster Wrangler vocation up against increasingly tough opponents for glory and prizes (mainly prizes).

My arena showdown was a piece of cake – its foes were no match for my trusty trio of Healslime, Slime, and Bunicorn – although I was told that you can expect these battles to become much more challenging the further you progress. More generally speaking, I noticed that the game&apo💦s;s three difficulty levels – Dracky Quest, Dragon Quest, and Draconian Quest (the latter of which reduces the gold and EXP you get as well as making battles harder) can seemingly be swapped between at any time during your adventure, which should make fine-tuning your experience on the fly super straightforward.

After that, I took to exploring the world, and spent arguably a bit too long hunting for secrets hidden in barrels – which was very worth it, by the way. Taking in the sights is a joy in itself, and I had a delightful stroll around the colorful town of Romaria, admiring its grand water fountain and castle. The HD-2D art style is a real treat for the eyes, as everywhere you look is packed with intricate details and pixel art that pops beautifully, nailing that modern-yet-retro vibe that Square Enix has perfected in previous titles like Octopath Trav♔eler.

Pixel perfect

In a group Q&A session with fellow media, I had the chance to ask the game's producer, Masaaki Hayasaka, as well as series creator Yuji Horii about the importance of the HD-2D art style for this remake, as well as the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming remakes of Dragon Quest 1 and 2. Hayasaka goes as far to say t𒆙hat this game potentially "would have never happened" if the team d🙈idn't have this style at their disposal.

"They are quite retro games, and we just thought that this HD-2D style was the perfect style to represent them graphically in a remake," the producer says (via interpreter). "I think pretty much everyone in the company was in agreement about that. There wasn't ever a question, so in terms of how important it is, I think it wo🍸uld be fair to say that if we did🌠n't have this HD-2D art style accessible to us, then maybe this remake would have never happened."

Horii adds: "And I think that rather than 3D, being able to explo𝔍re this space in 2D is really𒅌 what was part of the enjoyment of the original. So we wanted to keep what made the original so special and so fun and bring it into the modern era, which is why this HD-2D style just works so well."

The pretty visuals certainly contribute to the overall feeling that this world is begging to be explored – I had to rein the urge to examine every corner of the screen in favor of ascending the Skyfell Tower dungeon, but I could have spent hours poring over every inch of the open world. Hayasaka notes that the devs took inspiration from "a lot of modern games," including 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, when it came to this over❀all design philosophy. "As you're traversing the open world in Breath of the Wild, you can see a building in the distance and be like, 'I want to go there,&apo💦s; and then it makes you want to go there and travel. We wanted to capture that same feeling with the world map here," he explains.

Improvements galore

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake

As I was eager to progress as quickly as possible during the demo, I really appreciated the option to speed up battles on the go. While you can expect your journey to be interrupted by sudden random encounters, speeding things all the way up makes them fly by – it's a simple but except𒁃ionally useful qual෴ity of life improvement that I'm sure many players will find themselves using a lot.

I also can't resist mentioning just how fantastic all the music is. Composed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, every track so far sounds just as triumphant and majestic as you&a🌟pos;d hope for the Dragon Quest series, which really instills that feeling of importance into every st🌳ep of your journey.

I'm incredibly excited for when Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake releases in November, especia🌃lly since it'll be followed by HD-2D remakes of both Dragon Quest 1 and 2 sometime next year (while the names might be a tad confusing, they are, in fact, releasing in chronological order). Horii tells me that this trilogy is a "really approachable" entry point for fans, even if they've ne🌃ver played any of the previous installments. "So I do hope it will be a good introduction for a lot of people to Dragon Quest as a whole," he says.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The Dragon Quest seri🍒es has been through countless iterations and spin-offs, but one version might be properly lost for good.

Dragon's Quest's first side step was Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon, an SNES game in which you collect items in randomized dungeons as the merchant from Dragon Quest 4. Despite being a success, the🍷 game never saw a proper ♈release or translation outside of Japan.

Whispers about an official, unreleased English version called Taloon's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon have been floating around the internet for decades, though. SNES Central (RIP) mentioned the shadowy project years ago, according to the . In an old i♉nterview with , game counselor Tom Kirstenson also mentioned that he playtested the localized version while it was still in development and apparently loved it.

That brings us up to the modern age, where a eBay seller claimed to have had a copy of Taloon's Great Adventure and wanted to offload it for €50,000 (or around $53,000). An includes screenshots from the game, pictures of the cartridge, and claims that the prototype "comes from a former Nintendo employee who had access to Product Analysis," the ℱdepartment that was responsible for Nintendo's internal quality assurance. "The prototype was in private possession for a good 20 years and was never publicly exhibited or given away."

The listing stret🎶ches as far back as 2022, but it seems like the seller did eventually find someone who matched the whopping price tag. YouTuber sackchief recently tweeted that he'd been in contact with the seller, who now "claims he sold it to a private collector so🐈 you can say it's lost for good."

"And yes, I did try negotiating since this game is not worth 50k," he continues. "I offered to crowdfund uꦉp to 2.5k for the game and a friend of mine even offered 5 thousand and we both got turned down in the end. So you can't say I didn’t try."

It looks like the long-running mystery will only continue to drag on, as Square Enix and Nintendo have never publicly acknowledged that an English port was ever in development, and three decades on, the likelihood of that happening only becomes slimmer. But this all reminds me of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo PlayStation situation, where the long-rumored console prototype did eventually surface after falling into the right pai♒r of hands. We might just need to wait a few yea♉rs (or decades) before we see it. For now, there are fan translations online to tide you over.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The creator behind the beloved 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest series hasౠ revealed a surprising challenge developers are facing - "increasingl💫y realistic" graphics.

Yuji Horii, the mastermind behind Dragon Quest, says that 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Square Enix devs may struggle to keep up with graphical advancements in the future - but not in a𒐪 way fans might expect. 𝓰The problem that better visuals present lies within the JRPG series' usually silent protagonists, as Horii explains in a new interview translated by . "[Dragon Quest] basically consists of dialogue with townspeople, with very little in the way of narration," states the dev.

"The story is created within the dialogue," he continues. "That's what's fun about it." The one character without dialogue, though, is "the symbolic protagonist." That way, players can more freely envision the mai๊n character's reactions however they'd like to. This sort of immersion headed by a silent protagonist is far better suited to older Dragon Quest games thanks to the graphics of the time, according to Horii.

"As game graphics evolve and grow increasingly realistic, if you make a protagonist who just stands there, they will look like an idiot," the dev describes. There's no easy solution since making the protagonist react more vocally could make it more difficult for fans to connect with them. "That's why, the type of protagonist featured in Dragon Quest becomes increasing🎃ly difficult to dep♛ict as games become more realistic."

Grappling with more realistic graphics "will be a challenge in the future," Horii concludes. It likely isn't a challenge exclusive to just Dragon Quest, though - after all, other JRPG series like Persona feature silent protagonists. The formula seems to have been successful thus far, even with more recent entries, but there's no telling what directioಞn developers might take to improve immersion later on.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Game cancellations and the generally shakey state of the industry is hurting at least one prolific outsꦺourcing studio in Japan.

Tose isn't a studio you're likely familiar with, but stick around and watch the credits for any number of heavyweight games from Japan and you'll be sure catch its name sliding up the screen. Tose have co-developed, supported, and ported c🐻ountless games from the NES and Game Boy era to the PS5 and Nintendo Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, and Resident Evil Revelations.

Despite a history spanning literal decades, however, the company is now in murky waters. Tose's for the period covering September, 2023 to May, 2024 reveal that the studio's net sales fell almost 28% from last year, leading to an operating l𒉰oss of 599 million yen ($3.7 million), based on translations from .

Tose reportedly blames the losses on various game cancellations across the industry. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Mass layoffs aren't happening at Japanese publishers nearly as much as they are elsewhere, partly because of rather than executive kindness, but multiple companies are still feeling the post-pandemic blues. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake is not only beautifying the 1988 classic with an Octopath Traveler-style makeup brush, but it's alsoܫ apparently expanding the original game's story.

reports that an early preview session for Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D began with a pre-recorded message courtesy of famed series creator Yuji Horii and the remake's producer Masaaki Hayasaka. The latter reportedly revealed that the upcoming remake would feature "additional story scenarios written under Horii's su🌞pervision," which makes sense considering how the Erdrick trilogy ties into almost every other Dragon Quest game somehow.

Exactly what those new scenarios look like is unclear, but if publisher Square Enix's remade Final Fantasy 7 games are any indication, expanded cutscenes, beefed-up side plots, and all-new characters are all on the table. It's definitely welcome news since, up until now, Square Enix has only really boasted about the game's jazzed-up visual style💯 that slaps 2D sprites onto some gorgeous, dioramic, 3D spaces a la Octopath Traveler - just, seemingly, without all the fog this time around. No matter what those scenarios look like, there's something new to look forward to if you've already played the iconic JRPG over the last 40-ish years.

Whether you started the game decades before I was born or are completely new to the series, the wait for Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D has been a long one. The remake was first announced three years ago - a timeframe🐠 that the studio admits was "too early" - before reappearing in this week's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Direct, while also dragging its older (chronologically younger) siblings, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 1 + 2, onto the HD-2D train.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D comes out on November 14 for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC courtesy of Triangle Strategy developer Artdink and Octopath Traveler stewards Team Asano. Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD-2D are then being bundled together sometime next year, also on all platforms, thanks to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Squeenix's ne෴w multiplatform p💝ush

Gamesradar+’s Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D preview said the remake “holds tight to the roots of what makes Dragon Quest 3 such a classic.”

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest 3 H🅘D-2D's develo꧟per has expressed regret over announcing the ambitious remake too early.

Yesterday, during a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Direct, Square Enix finally unveiled the Drago𓄧n Quest 3 HD-2D remake launch date, which will be November 14. The game expands its platform offerings to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. However, the wait for the announcement was long—three years, in fact, between the first reveal of the remake and yesterday's new trailer and release date.

Team Asano, the remake's developer, has expressed regret at the length of time in the tweet below. As translated by , the devel💟oper writes that it's "been told that too much time has passed since we announced the start of development, but this isn't unusual, seeing as all of our titles have taken three to four years to dওevelop.

"However, the initial announcement was too early compared to others. We are reflecting on this. So, th🍒ank you very much for waiting," the tweet from Team Asano further adds. It sure sounds like Team Asano is going to take more consideration of when it announces gamesꦓ in the future.

We've already played Square Enix's remake for ourselves, and in our full 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, we called it an incredible upgrade on a classic original. Square Enix shocked everyone yesterday by simultaneously announcing 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD remakes out of nowhere, botꦺh of which are set for launch as one p𒉰ackage next year.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> If there's any classic JRPG deserving of Square Enix's gorgeous HD-2D remake treatment, it's Dragon Quest 3. Fans have been salivating over the possibilities of this remake since it was first tentatively revealed three years ago, but now the wait is coming to an end. I played an hour of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake behind closed doors at a Square Enix event during 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Summer Game Fest, and this i𓂃s absolutely the definitive modernization that this legendary 8-bit RPG deserves.

If you've ever played a 2D JRPG before, you know the basics here: talk to some townsfolk, recruit ඣa party, wander in an overworld map, fight random battles, then he൩ad back to town to spend the gold you've earned on new equipment so you can venture further out. The remake does not mess with that formula, but rather enhances it with more quality-of-life improvements than you can shake a legendary sword at.

Modern Dragon Quest series staples are here, like enemy names that change colors to indicate how much damage they've taken and the 'handy heal all' feature that lets you automatically heal your party with minimal wasted MP. You can now directly compare the stat boosts from equipment straight from the shop screen. You can now even use chimera wings to fast travel from anywhere, including inside buildings and dungeons, something characters break the fourth wall to remark on in-game as a notable modern convenience. There's now an auto save, and you can plunk down a manual save at any church – you don't have to hike all the way back to the king. You can turn up the battle speed to make grinding faster. All these little changes help to modernize Dragon Quest 3, but you won't mistake this remake for a🎉 truly modꦗern RPG.

Old-school charm

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake

Square Enix holds tight to the roots of what makes Dragon Quest 3 such a classic. There's still plenty of grinding through random bat𝄹tles, occasionally punctuated by light story sequences that are only partially spruced up with the addition of small bits of voice acting. This is a properly old-school experience, just without the frustration you'd expect from an NES RPG.

The biggest departure from that original design is the addition of quest markers, which will point you directly on the world map to where you need to go next. In the original, you'd hear hints from NPCs to help you figure out your next objective, but now you're directed straight toward the most helpful bit of dialog, and once triggered, you're then pointed to the next exact location. Wandering the world map endlessly in search of the hint you missed ꦗis one of the most frustrating parts of old RPGs, though I can't help but wonder if this solution might make the game a little too straightforward.

The HD-2D visual treatment is the star of the show here, and it looks fantastic. It's not as flashy as in, say, Octopath Traveler, but the 3D backgrounds give a lot of life to every location. A particular highlight is the way your party pulls out torches at night and in dark cave🐼s, leaving a gently flickering light to illuminate the world around you.

Square Enix says it decided to start with Dragon Quest 3 because it's a prequel – and y♎es, it's a standalone game, contrary to rumors that an entire remake trilogy was on the way. The idea that this is a starting point does leave open the door that further remakes may come, but nothing's been confirmed as yet. But if the rest of the Dragon Quest 3 remake proves to be as smooth and polished as the bit I got to play, then I'm alrea♏dy desperate for more.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Not content with simply 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史🙈查询:re-revealing Drag🌃on Quest 3 HD-2D Remake during today's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Direct, Square Enix also confirmed that a separate remake of ꦇDragon Quest 1 & 2 is also coming, and due to launch in 2025.

We don't have any direct footage of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, but it's a safe bet it'll look a whol𓃲e lot like what we've seen of the 3 remake. Square Enix is billing this as "The Erdrick Trilogy" despite the fact that it's releasing in two separate packages, so it certainly seems like there'll be a fair amount of similarities bet🐎ween the games. Square Enix has not yet announced platforms for the 1 & 2 remake, but the 3 remake is coming to Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Speaking about the Dragon Quest 3 remake during the Direct, series creator Yuji Horii said "I'm delighted we were finally able to announce the game's release date. And we even snuck in a surprise announcement: Dragon Quest ღ1 & 2 will also receive the HD-2D treatment. Chrono🐠logically, Dragon Quest 3 comes first in the Erdrick trilogy. I think players will have fun seeing how things unfold if they play 3, 1, and 2 in that order. I really hope you'll all enjoy experiencing the entire Erdrick trilogy across these remakes."

These games have been remade several times over the years, and the original two Dragon Quest games are often bundled togeth🌊er. Such was the case with remakes released for both the Super Famicom and the Game Boy Color. The popularity of the original Dragon Quest back in the '80s paved the way for pretty much every Japanese RPG that would follow, so it's fantastic to see the entire trilogy getting such a lavish remake treatment for modern platforms.

The announcement of the 1 & 2 remake was accompanied by new trilogy key art from designer Nao𒀰ki Ikushima. "The inspiration comes from Toriyama-sensei's illustrations," Square Enix explains on , "and in order to conti🍨nue that tradition, we came up with a composition that portrays the Hero, who was kneeling in Toriyama-sensei's SFC illustration, standing up and gazing beyond the castle."

An hour of hands-on with Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake has convinced me it's time to grind like it's 1988.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake does, in fact, still exist, and during today's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Direct developer Square Enix confirmed that the updated JRPG is finaꦓlly set to launch this year.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake officially launches on November 14, 2024. While the news was announced as part of today's Nintendo presentation, a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:teaser a few weeks ago seemed to confirm the game was also on the way to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Expect official confirmation from Square Enix soon enough, but the release across consoles matches with the publisher's publicly stated intentions to 澳🦹洲幸运🥂5开奖号码历史查询:"aggressively" pursue a multiplatform strategy.

As the name suggests, this game is an upgrade of the 8-bit classic Dragon Quest 3 with the gorgeous HD-2D treatment Square Enix has been building since Octopath Traveler. Fans of the publisher's classic JRPGs have been begging for remakes in the HD-2D style for ages, and it looks like those are finally a reality - first with the remake of cult classic Live A Live back in 2022, and nওow with a more 💙mainstream hit in Dragon Quest 3.

The HD-2D treatment looks gorgeous here - just as it did way back in 2021 when Square Enix first announced the project with a brief teaser trailer. Despite multiple assur🌞ances that the remake was still in the work🐠s, it'꧙s still a relief to see iꦛt resurface with a proper release date here.

It might seem odd to start remaking Dragon Quest with the third entry in the series, but Dragon Quest 3 is actually a prequel set before the original two games. And it just so happens that S🌌q🌱uare Enix also announced an HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 set to launch in 2025.

These are the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best JRPGs out there today.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]>

As someone that got into Dragon Quest relatively recently with 2018's Echoes of an Elusive Age, I've long looked for an excuse to play through the gam⛎e that started it all. Don't get me wrong, I own the game on Switch and have dumped a few hours into it, but it all just feels a little... before my time. It's rudimentary, a little janky, and a tad grindy for my liking,൩ but I absolutely respect it for kickstarting one of my favorite franchises.

That said, when I stumbled across NightFly's fan remake on Twitter - and especially with th🅰e recent passing of Dragon Quest co-creator and artist Akira Toriyama - I knew it was time to revisit this curious little oddity. Dragon Quest +, as it's called, is a fan remake of the first Dragon Quest game with 6-8 hours of new content, remixed monsters, new armor, weapons, and items, an orchestrated soundtrack, new dungeons and mini-dꦺungeons, three new mini-games, and a ton of quality of life improvements that make this seminal JRPG more approachable.

It's actually been out for a few months now, but the most recent version, 1.07, is a lot more refined than the original release, making now the perfect time to jump in. Everything's neatly packaged in a c🐠lean, completely free download from the , although it's wo🏅rth noting there are separate clients for AMD and Nvidia GPUs. Regardless, I was able to get it up and running in just a few minutes, and by golly it is pixel perfect.

To be clear, this is a full-on remake, not a remaster, although it does seem to re-use some assets from various games in the series. For example, the intro is a take on the beginning of Dragon Quest 3 in which you staꦇrt the game in a dream world and answer questions that determine stat growth throughout the game. Monsters are animated in battle like later games in the series, and the OST sounds a whole l♕ot like Dragon Quest Builders.

As for the 6-8 hours of new content I mentioned earlier, that's made up of a bonus dungeon inspired by Dra🐽gon Quest Monsters, as well as a whole new bonus world inspired by Dragon Quest Monsters 2. Then there are new mini dungeons in Alefgard and three new mini-games.

It'll be a while before I can get to that stuꩲff, but for now what I'm really appreciating about Dragon Quest + is how it amalgamates various elements and quality of life features from future games in the series. It's as if Sq👍uare itself remade the first Dragon Quest with elements from later games so as to make it appeal to a modern crowd.

If anything, it's something to hold me over until that sweet-looking HD-2D Dragon Quest 3 remake surfaces. The last we heard was in September when 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Squa♉re said it was "progressing steadily," but it's been tumbleweeds since.

Find out which Dragon Quest game made our list of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best JRPGs to play today.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon💝 Quest developer Square Enix is asking fans to complete a🍌 questionnaire that could influence the future of the series.

The asks participants a number of mostly multiple-choice questions ranging from q💞uestions about their gaming habits, to what kind of games they enjoy, anꦅd what platforms they play said games on.

The survey also asks those taking part some more unique questions such as “how big of a Dragon Quest fan are you?” on a scale of 1 - 10, as well as “how did you watch the ann♊ouncements in the Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Special?”

Most interestingly thou🍒gh, the questionnaire ends by asking “what do you want to see from the Dragon Quest series in the future?” and instead of offering participants multiple options to choose from, this question presents players with a text box to input whatever they want into it. Which makes it seem li♒ke Square Enix is open to suggestions on what to do with the Dragon Quest series in the future.

This questionnaire won’t be the only thing to influence the series though as it was recently revealed that the next game in the series, Dragon Quest 12, will shape the series for up to 20 years. First announced during the Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Special event in May of this year, Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate will also apparently change up the usual combat found in the series and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:give the game a darker tone overall.

In order to earn Dra💛gon Quest Builders 2 Mini Medals, you need to find and solve puzzles dotted around the various islands. These are identified by large tablet stones with a question mark on the front and a Builder's hammer coming out of the top, and attached to them you'll find the puzzle set up that need solving. These are normally fairly logical, and involve solutions such as rerouting running water or moving blocks so they're evenly balanced on either side of the area. When you've solved the puzzle a message 🐠will flash up on screen to confirm it, then simply interact with the now sparkling tablet stone to collect your Mini Medal.

As well as combining items to form new rooms, you can also put them together to create sets, which are both handy on their own and usable in additional room recipes. These are the item combinations that form Dragon Que♈st Builders 2 set recipes - they involve putting things together logically, so for example if a recipe has a table, seating, and food, then place the food on the table and the chairs next to it so it registers.

1. Get a better view

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

One thing you may notice pretty quickly in Dragon Quest Builders 2 is that the game camera tends to move𒊎 around🉐 quite a bit, and can often automatically zoom in close to your character. This gets even more awkward if you're trying to manoeuvre through caves or other confined spaces, so remember that as well as rotating the camera with the right stick you can also hold down R3 then use the left stick to zoom in and out to reset your view to a more comfortable position. New to Dragon Quest Builders 2 is first-person view, accessed by clicking R3, which can also help when moving through narrow or enclosed areas. The option should be turned on by default anyway, but make sure Show Character Outline is activated in the settings, as it will show your position even when you're behind objects, so you can always tell exactly where you are.

2. Know your surroundings

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

By pressing the touchpad you'll access a bird's eye view of the surrounding area in Dragon Quest Builders 2, which is useful for getting your bearings and checking the layout of your current build, as well as for spotting enemies. Hit X to switch to the map, which gives you a much wider view of 𝕴your location, and has handy icons to highlight points of interest you should visit as well as any current mission markers. It also shows the locations of resources such as trees, rocks etc so if there's a particular type of material you need to harvest then this can help you find it.

3. Build your own paths and shortcuts

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

Make sure you harvest or craft plenty of building blocks and carry them with you, as you can use these to build new paths and steps to create shortcuts in Dragon Quest Builders 2. It's easy to construct bas🍌ic steps to access higher areas by alternately placing blocks forwards then 🔯up, or if you're constructing alongside a wall or cliff then you can just attach blocks to the side without any further support required. In true Minecraft style, you can also aim downwards and jump then place a block directly beneath you, to rise up on top of a stack and gain additional height.

4. Fall damage won't kill you

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

If ꦛyou've followed the previous tip to build upwards and explore, you may be getting worried about what will happen if you stray off the path and take a massive tumble back down to Earth. The good news is, it won't kill you no matter how far you drop, though the fall will knock you down to 1 HP so hopefully you have some consumables with you to get that topped up again. On a semi-related note, gravity doesn't affect builds so don't worry about everything collapsing around you if you smash out the foundations of a structure in Dragon Quest Builders 2. In fact, if you do this then the rest of the building will continue hovering in the air, which is a trick you can use to make some interesting constructions.

5. Take a bed when exploring

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

Something to sleep on, such as Straw Bedding, is an essential item to take with you when you go off exploring in Dragon Quest Builders 2. If your HP starts to get low during the day, you can simply whip it out and grab a quick snooze to replenish yourself without needing to use any consumable item😼s. Better yet, if you're still out exploring late at night, and reach the point in the darkness where powerful monsters start chasing and attacking you, all you need to do is throw your bed on the floor and dive into a sleep. Time will move on until the morning, where you'll wake in a night monster-free world ready for another day of exploring.

6. Build quickly and accurately

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

By holding the Place button to put the selected item in the targeted space, then keeping that button held as you move (or strafe) in a direction, you can continue placing items or building blocks in a straight line to produce some fast construction. By default, this will place two building blocks in a stack as you move along, though if you only want to place a single block in each spa🍸ce then holding both L1 and L2 (default controls) will prevent the double stacks from forming as you move and place the blocks. Don't forget about using L1 to look up when building in Dragon Quest Builders 2, as it's useful for placing items on top of each other or mounting light sources higher on wallꦐs.

7. Cook food wherever possible

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

As well as maintaining your HP, it's essential to keep your fullness gauge topped up as if it drops down to 0% then you won't be able to dash or attack properly. Eating raw food such as kelp or cabbages will give you a small fullness increase, but cooking them on a bonfire first means the prepared food will provide a much larger boost. There are also items such as Scallywinkles or wheat, which can only be consumed once they've been cooked. When 🐲stood near the bonfire a red pot icon will appear above the items in your inventory you can cook, so highlight one then press🅺 Square to place on the fire and X to cook. Wait for it to be done then collect the finished product - don't worry about rushing back, as the food will never burn after it's cooked. It's worth setting up a row of bonfires in your Dragon Quest Builders 2 camp to cook a batch of food at once, to streamline the process.

8. Store your items and materials

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

As well as holding items and materials in your main inventory, there are two other ways to store them which unlock at Furrowfield Farm in Dragon Quest B🌸uilders 2. The first is your Bag, which gives you a huge amount of additional storage space to pretty much carry anything you want with you, so you don't need to worry about inventory management as you can easily move items in and out whenever you need them. The other storage option is the Community Chest, which is very useful for storing materials and food in - because as well as having these items still accessible to you for crafting, your villagers can also use them too. Keeping the Community Chest topped up with food means that everyone can remain fed and happy, so don't forget to drop supplies in there now a💮nd again.

9. Succeed in combat

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

When fighting new enemies in Dragon Quest Builders 2, get in a couple of quick hits then back off to see how they react. Their attack moves normally take a second or two to activate, so if you can recognise the animation then you can move away in time to avoid any damage - a quick jump away in the opposite direction normally does the trick. Keep your distance wh༒ile trying not to get trapped between multiple enemies, and you can also hang back to let Malroth dish out the hits with his more powerful special weapon. Fight all the monsters you see while exploring to earn ExP and level up, which will unlock new fighting moves and plans for building better weapons to help you take on bigger enemies. Whenever you can craft a better weapon, make enough for the rest of your villagers who can be armed, then hand them over by higওhlighting the weapon in your inventory and following the prompt when stood next to them.

10. Remember that building isn't final

Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips

There's plenty of scope for experimentation in Dragon Quest Builders 2, so if you're not happy with how a particular construction is shaping up then don't be afraid to pull out your hammer and smash it to bits so you can start again. Most items and building blocks will simply revert to their collectible form when broken up then return to your inventory when you walk over them, so they won't actually be destroyed. You can use your Gloves to pick up and move individual items, which is handy for small adjustments, but if say you need to move an entire wall then it's undoubtedly quicker the break the entire thing down and rebuild it elsewhere💙 than to pick it up and move it piece by piece.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> One of the best JRPGs of its generation, Dragon Quest 11, has launched on 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Google Stadia at a discounted price.

From now until March 30, you can snag Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition for Stadia at 20% ofꦍf its normal price. You can get the same deal on PS4 and Xbox One, but the discount only lasts until March 17 and March 22, respectively. Curiously, it doesn't seem that the Switch version has been discounted.

If you know me in real life, follow me on Twitter, or really, if you've interacted with me at all in the last couple of years and the topic of video games has come up, you've probably heard me recommend Dragon Quest 11. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:I reviewed the Definitive Edition when it launched on Switch in 2019 and I'm happy to see that bigger and better 𝓡version come to other platforms. If I even convince a single person, perhaps someone who won't play a game unless it's on Stadia, to play Dragon Quest 11, I'll consider that a triumph.

The needlessly longwinded Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition includes new story sections for the main characters, a 16-bit retro mode, the brand new world of Tickington, both English and Japanese language options, an optional fully orchestrated soundtrack, a new photo mode, and loads more. Aside from the visuals, which are ever so slightly less great because this version was originally designed for Switch, the Definitive Edition is far-and-away the ideal way to play Drago🌠n Quest 11.

Here are all the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new games of 2021 we can't wait to play.

Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition🌳 (phew) is making its way to PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, and a 10-hour demo is available for downloa✅d now.

Considering there are plenty of full-priced games that end under 10 hours, this is a real gift from Square Enix. Better yet, any progress that you make in the demo carries over to the full game. "To be frank, 𓆏calling this a demo is kind of underselling it," Square Enix says in the .

The definitive edition of Dragon Quest 11, initially only ava🍃ilable on Switch, includes all sorts of goodies that the original release didn't have. There's Classic Mode, which lets you play through the entire game in the 16-bit style of early Dragon Quest games. Then you've got entirely new mini🐓-chapters for each of the main characters, adding depth to their stories to varying degrees.

Square Enix also responded to feedback to the synthesized score from the original release by introducing a fully-orchestrated version for the Definitive Edition. As I noted in my 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:review of the game from last year, the orchestral scor𝓀e is a big improvement over the st𒈔andard version of the game. That said, you can opt to hear the original synthesized soundtrack if you prefer.

That's not all. The Dragon Quest 11 definitive edition also includes new language options, a fully fleshed-out photo mode, a new shortcuts menu, more creatures to ride, a new "Ultra-Fast" battle speed option, and new Draconian quest opt🦹ions. Further, the portable forge can be used anywhere, you can switch outfits without altering your stats, and you can call your horse at any point in the game.

The hefty Dragon Quest 11 demo should tide you over while we wait for these exciting 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming games of 2020.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age is my favorite JRPG ev♏er, and I'd just wrapped an 80-plus-hour playthrough on PS4 when the Switch port landed on my desk. It's a testament to the game's quality that I couldn't wait to jump back in. Dragon Quest 11 is today's quintessential JRPG; a stubbornly faithful evolution of its predecessors adapted to modern standards, polished to a mirror finish and bursting with color, real emotion, and charm. The wordy Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition is a bigger and better version, a technical marvel, and indeed the best way to experience one of this generation's finest RPGs.

Fast Facts: Dragon Quest 11 S – Definitive Edition

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

Release date: September 27, 2019
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Developer / Publisher: Nintendo / Square Enix

First let's talk about the 2D mode, mainly because it's what excites me most about Dragon Quest 11 on Switch. I know it's a carryover from the 3DS version, but unless you'vꦿe got a Japanese 3DS and Japanese fluency, the 3DS port isn't an option. Regardless, playing the entire game in 2D is a nostalgic treat for fans of the early Dragon Quest games and the Super Nintendo in general, as well as a viable and arguably preferable way to experience the story. The fact that the 2D mode is so humbly bundled into the Switch port belies the amount of work that went into its development – truly, it deserves its own release and retail price.

Faithfully retro

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

The 2D mode is an honest retro tribute, for better or worse depending on your preference. Random encounters in the overworld and in enemy territories force consistent grinding, static sprites may or may not be to your liking, and the same goes for unvoiced dialogue. I played through most of the game in 2D mode and enjoyed every minute, but I've al♒ways had a particular fondness for games of the 16-bit era.

Naturally, the lush expanses of D✤ragon Quest 11's 3D world are compacted somewhat for the 2D format, and as a result the world feels slightly smaller. Though, thanks to random encounters it's debatable whether traveling between different locations is any quicker in 2D than 3D. Regardless, you can switch back and forth between 2D and 3D to your liking, though it's best to do so right after a big event and saving, as it sets your story progress back toꩵ pre-defined starting points.

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

Erdrea in 2D is a visual masterpiece, and my hat's off to Square Enix for making each location feel as uniquely magical as they do in 3D with so fewer pixels. With my most recent playthrough on PS4 still very fresh in memory, it's remarkable how accurately they were able to replicate some of the more complex, winding spatial puzzles in dungeons. Likewise, quaint villag🥂es like Hotto are just as graceful and inviting – if not more-so – than ever, and bustling cities like Heliodor no less exhilarating to discover.

Dragon Quest 11 on Switch looks great in 3D mode too, both docked and undocked. Unless you were looking, you wouldn't notice if someone swapped out the PS4 version for the Switch version during your bathroom break. Of cours🌟e, if you are looking, you'll notice textures are a little harsher up close and pop-ins are a lot moꦫre noticeable. What visual concessions there are I gladly forgive because the game runs like butter at a near-constant 30 FPS. The only hiccups I ran into were when the game would suddenly crash, which happened four times during my playthrough.

More than meets the eye

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

There's a lot more to Dragon Quest 11 S than its good looks. I🎃t's also a feast for the ears. It𒁃s exclusive, fully-orchestrated score an almost indisputable improvement over the PS4 and PC version's synthesized tracks. The orchestra adds drama to every scene, whether by enhancing the adventurous feeling of world-traveling, the frolicking nature of Sylvando's theme song, or the despairing mood of exploring the Ruins of Dundrasil. That said, you can opt to hear the synthesized score instead, just as you can Japanese subtitles.

A number of story expansions provide depth to characters we previously only knew from the Hero&♋apos;s perspective. The new stories take place after the sequence at the Tree of Li❀fe. You play as Sylvando, Jade, Erik, and Rab in their fights against hopelessness, and along the way explore some really cool new environments and learn more about the stories behind each character.

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

Some of the new mini stories feel more significant than others༺. Sylvando's sequence in particular adds a touching layer of sorrow to his backstory by exploring some of his family history. Jade's, on the other hand, feels a little grindy and doesn't add as much depth to the character, but it never sinks to the level of filler.

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

Think of the new story content as a whole new chapter of the game, as it should take you about the same amount of time ไto finish. Though, you're essentially immortal in these sections so battles don't feel as consequential as other parts of the game.

Then there's the retro-inspired cache of new conten🍌t, which deeply broadens the role of the now-named Tockles and their never-before-seen home, Tickington. You'll encounter Tockles at various points throughout the story, and each one provides a unique "pastword" that grants access to a new area via Tickington, each a 16-bit portal to Dragon Quest's past. The objectives range from simple fetch quests to lengthy boss-like battles, and there's an obvious nostalgic value added for those who♐ experienced the earlier Dragon Quest games. I especially enjoyed the 16-bit renditions of scores from past and present Dragon Quest titles.

It's the little things

(Image credit: Nintendo / Square Enix)

A laundry list of quality-of-life improvements flesh out the Switch experience far beyond what was expected. There's a photo mode where you can use different poses, camera positions, and subjects to capture moments like you're on a roadtrip with fr🐷iends; a new shortcuts menu to make accessing key f𝓡eatures easier, there's a bigger variety of creatures to ride; a new "Ultra-Fast" battle speed option and new Draconian quest options; you can use the portable forge anywhere, and can change outfits without affecting stats; and you can call your horse at any time. And those are just some of the highlights – trust me when I say there's too much to list. The improvements, subtle or not, add up to an overall boost in playability that's noticeable, especially after having so recently played the PS4 version.

Square Enix makes a number of ambitious leaps bringing Dragon Quest 11 to Switch and sticks the landing every time. The story ex💧pands in meaningful ways for party members; the 2D mode, orchestral soundtrack, and language options offer a variety of worthwhile choices for subsequent playthroughs, and it looks and runs fabulously. Whether you're looking for a fresh new way to play through Dragon Quest 11 another time, or you've yet to experience this must-play RPG, it's hard not to recommen🃏d Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition over any other version.

With Link's Awakening's release this month, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is one of the few remaining classic Zelda games yet to receive a modern makeover, but this 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest Builders 2 creation migh♔t be the next best th⛄ing. YouTube creator BenXC dedicated over 150 hours to recreating set pieces from A Link to the Past, and it 100% deserves a look, if not some sort of award.

It took BenXC six months to single-handedly plant the 2,500 trees and place the 300,000 blocks it took to build this loving tribute to one of the most acclaimed RPGs of all time. There's even a showcasing some of the building phase and some of ✃the interior stuff, which BenXC smartly built underground to keep exterior structures the right size.

Even the reveal trailer for what BenXC calls The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 3D is worth a watch, featuring music fr🐼om the game and some impressive cinematography. The best news is that after all that time making it, you can finally explore A Link to the Past's Hyrule in Dragon Quest Builders 2 using ID npyrd8ZJVM.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The final free update for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest Builders 2 will drop on August 20, 2019.

Revealed via a new Square Enix livestream (thanks, ), the update will include a new epilogue, additional hairstyles, weather changes, plus – fina🅺lly – the ability to make multiple save files, too.

To access the epilogue, players will need to have unlocked a minimum of 45 builder recipes, completed all of the scavenger hunts on Explorer's Shores, and have visited a Buildertopia at least once. Complete all that and a special letter will arrive, ꧅kicking off the epilogue.

If you've been coveting the lovely locks of NPCs, you'll finally be able to slay your personal style now four new hairdos have been added to both male and female characters. Sadly they&ap൲os;re not unisex, and – like other headwear – you won't be able to add further adornments on top of your 'do, either, but they do offer new options beyond the restricted 'pigtails or spikes' choice previously available. To unlock them, complete the "Let's Make a Room for the Villagers" builder recipe.

As for the weather options on the Isle of Awakening? Once you've unlocked all builder recipes and have obtained the Builder’s Eye and talked to the glowing Hammerhood, you will be able to create weather cards at the Magic Workstation. It looks as though you'll be able to create five cards thaﷺt affect the weather, and all are pretty self-explanatory: Clear Card, Cloudy Card, Rain Card, Snow Card, and Storm Card (thanks, ).

Last but by no means least, you'll also be able to save up 𝓡to three Buildertopias, too.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Prepare to spend far too much of your time worrying if you've put the toilet too near the coc🌌ktail bar and praying monsters don't smash your new shower room to bits, because Dragon Quest Builders 2 is back to make its mix of Minecraft style building, Harvest Moon farming and Zeld💫a-ish exploration your whole life. The first game proved just how satisfying the mix of creation and carnage could be, and Dragon Quest Builders 2 improves on the original formula like it's slinging a diamond necklace on a unicorn.

Fast Facts: Dragon Quest Builders 2

Release date: July 12
Publisher: Square Enix
Platform(s): PS4, and Nintendo Switch

You don't need to have played a second of either the Dragon Quest RPGs or even the original 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest Builders to enjoy the sequel as the game takes you through everything you need to know at a gentle pace, teaching you how to cook, farm, build and fight. (The basics are smash stuff with a hammer, use the bits to build other stuff.) There's always a mission that will keep you busy, a major building project or multi-part objective, and a lot of side quests, which can range from building a workout room to catching a chicken. At the same time, you don't have to worry about it triggering your millennial burnout, you're free to kill time building whatever you want in between, crafting your character a sumptuous boudoir or just making sure absolutely everything in the to🌄wn is at perfect right angles. Lots of games talk the big talk about making big decisions that affect the narrative, but how many let you decide whether or not the mushroom kitchen gets a dining room?

A weird, unique charm

These tiny decisions are just a small part of a massive game. There are varied and sweeping islands - thank god for fast travel - to chart and diversions along the main quest path. For instance, just when you're starting to feel like the badass king of the builders and getting work done on an actual pyramid you'll find yourself tasked with escaping from jail without so much as a hammer or sword to work with. Think the Shawshank Redemption, but with skeletons and cabbages. Often 𓆉the diversions are downright weird, some involve dancing girls in bunny outfits, but it's all part of the weird charm of the world.

There are new toys to play with, like a windbreaker that lets you float from great heights in a very 澳洲幸运5开奖꧃号码历史查询:The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild way. The combat has seen some changes too. Not necessarily the actual hitting things with swords, that still feels a bit cartoonish and awkward, but the boss battles. They were clunky and frustrating in the original, and the joy you felt at building your town was crushed under t🔥he feet of a big monster while you waited for it to flash its weak point at you. Dragon Quest Builders 2 at least ma🌳kes it feel more organic, less like a chore, and you even get to ride a giant robot to victory. Who doesn't like killing things with giant robots?

Smash and drag

Because it's my ⛄sworn duty to look for the flaws in the masterpiece, I can tell you that at times the game holds your hand a little too ♑tightly, with characters nudging you about the next thing to do instead of letting you just get on with it. "Ooh Rachel, you've got a sign that makes a monster smash things and... look! A smashable wall." I never thought I'd feel patronized by a smiling blue blob of slime, but here we are.

10 essential 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest Builders 2 tips to know before you play

Sometimes as well the narrative, doled out as it is through text boxes, starts to drag. Sure, all the misfits and characters you meet are cute and charming, but damn they like to talk. Even the most patient lore hound might find their attention wandering to their phone, their TV, some paint that's drying in a really inte🌱resting way. It doesn't help when there aཧre occasional odd pauses where the game seems to briefly freeze in these scenes, and that's torture when you have a row of flowerpots to build. Perhaps these issues just plague the Nintendo Switch version, which does seem to send the handheld into a frenzy that heats it to near lava temperatures.

Not that I ever let any of that, or the whir of tiny Nintendo Switch cooling fans, or the fact that I need to sleep more than two hours a night, get in the way of building my w𒁃ay through the adventure. I befriended - and yes petted - d🐬ogs, I built a bar out of actual gold, I gave candy to a zombie, I dug an entire river through a desert. Dragons Quest Builders 2 is a beautiful mashup of iconic games with a quirky sense of humor, and you'll be hooked on it from your first hammer smash.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> If you’re not familiar with Dragon Quest Builders, it’s basically a spin-off from the main Dragon Quest RPG series, meaning you need to know little to nothing about them to play Bu♊ilders. Instead, this is a game that’s part Minecraft and part Zelda, which might sound like a strange combo, but it actually works. You split your time between building a little base for a steadily growing community, going on quests for them across the lands and fighting off monsters, both to gather their insides (*yum*) and protect your followers. You are, after all, kind of a god, as you’re the only one in any realm who can remember how to bu♛ild anything.

The concept may seem simple, especially with the cartoonish looks and colourful graphics, and it is at first. Straw mattresses start out as a total revelation, but the more you collect and build, the more complex items you’ll be able to craft and delight your villagers with. It constantly manages to satisfy your desire to build bigger and better things, but also that deep down lust to smash some things. Get bored of building (or smashing) and you can wander out into the world, explore tombs, solve puzzles and fight monsters twice your size or bigger. Who knew that fighting a giant scorpion would be so satisfying? Oh, that’s right, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Monster Hunter World

It’s a brilliant mix of gameplay that works wonders on the Switch. The missions are short enough to play on the bus or train, and the colourful worlds really pop on the Switch screen. It looks just as good𝐆 as it does on the PS4 too, with those cartoon visuals helping to create a sense🐓 of parity across platform so you don’t feel like you’re getting the raw deal by opting for Switch over anything else.

Like the original PS4, Xbox One and PC versions released in 2016, there are some issues though. Camera controls can often flummox you, especially if you’re heading inside, hunting for treasure or rescuing some poor soꦬul that’s trapped. The irritating camera angles can unfortunately mean sometimes you get trapped too, trying to smash your way out blindly. The combat hasn’t changed either. It remains fairly simplistic, with attacks occasionally managing to miss the massive targets beca🧸use you’re not quite aligned properly. Keeping with the Minecraft theme, everything is worked out in blocks, so you basically have to be on the same block line as the monster to attack. None of those crazy 45-degree angles at play here.

Dragon Quest Builders is still the Minecraft/Zelda hybrid you didn’t know you needed, perfectly scratching your Breath of the Wild itch while simultaneously encouraging your building creativity. And while there are still some lingering small problems, it’s an absolutely perfect fit for the Switch. Sam Loveridge

Original PS4 review

The world lies in ruins; you are the only one who can restore it to its former glory. It's a cliche among cliches, and it's one that Dragon Que🍰st has reveled in since the series’ beginning. Dragon Quest Builders wants to do something a bit different, though. Rather than moving from city to city consuming items and destroying monsters, Builders actually wants 🅘you to create, to use your own two hands to craft your tools, rebuild towns, and cleanse the world of evil through the magic of building.

Dragon Quest Builders positions itself as sort of an alternate sequel to the very first game in the series, set after its hero decides to strike a bargain with the Dragonlord 🦄to join him and rule the world with an iron fist. With the world destroyed, you awaken (after picking your gender, skin color, and name) in an underground cave, the only one in a desolate land who knows how to create. Over four chapters, you'll travel to distant locales to rebuild villages, fight an absurd number of slimes and other Dragon Quest staple enemies, take on quests for new residents, and find the requisite items for the magic weapons you'll need to take down each region's boss. Its cartoonish look and story may appear simple, but it's as charming and bubbly as any other game in the series, with well-written characters and the signature stylings of series artist Akira Toriyama. It's pure Dragon Quest fanservice, complete with a soaring orchestral soundtrack by original series composer Koichi Sugiyama, though you don't need to know a lick about the series to enjoy what it has to offer.

To describe its gameplay in the most simple terms, Dragon Quest Builders is a cross between survival and crafting games like Minecraft and action RPGs like The Legend of Zelda, combining the resource gathering of the former with the quest-based progression and combat of the latter. When you start, you'll only have access to a handful of basic, wooden items, which break easily and can only deconstruct the simplest elements. As you help villagers with their requests - whether that's fetching them a handful of a specific items, slaying monsters, or building and dওesigning rooms to their specifications - you'll gain access to new recipes, which in turn give you access to more items, tools, and materials.

It may seem that its two halves - the boundless creativity offered by its crafting systems and its more rigid narrative and quest-based structure - would be at odds, but they actually complement each other incredibly well. Other than the occasional blueprint (which forces you to build a room to exacting specifications), you're largely free to build each town however you like. The only requirements to designing a room are that it has a wall two squares high, a light source, and a door, and once a room is finished, you’ll be graded for your efforts. Different combinations of structures will create specific kinds♋ of rooms, which add bonuses to your town, like allowing your villagers to cook food for you while you're away, or grant them more health or stronger weapons in combat.

It's a fantastic convergence of structure and creativity, where the quests provide both impetus to explore and inspiration for building. There's always something you're required to do at a given time, and actually completing the tasks required of you provides tangible rewards y🍰ou can use to improve the quality of your town. Those who want to explore Builders’ creative depths are encouraged to do so, as you're given a wide variety of construction materials and decorations to really make each location your own. Or you can opt to make a purely utilitarian town with the bare minimum of essentials and focus solely on questing; Dragon Quest Builders is cool with that too. Occasionally, your town will come under attack by roving monsters, but for the most part, you're allowed to approach Dragon Quest Builders on your own terms, as it caters to multiple styles of play without judgement. Its boundaries a♐re more noticeably inflexible than games like Minecraft, but there's still a lot of opportunity to make each location your own within its limitations.

Actually builღding stuff, for the most part, is relatively painless, and even if you screw up, a couple of whacks will transform whatever you've placed back into a tiny version of that item which you can pick up and place again. But the most impressive thing is seeing your villages grow and blossom over time. When you first arrive in an area, you'll maybe have a room to craft items and a basic bedroom with straw mattresses. By the time you're finished, you'll have a bustling town with a half-dozen other people milling about, each contributing in small but helpful ways. It feels really good to look back and see the progress you've made and the⛎ stuff you've built.

In opting for this more guided, hand-crafted structure, Drago🎀n Quest Builders is able to provide unique challenges you won't find in other procedurally-generated games. By the end of chapter one, you've likely got a handle on how to build defensive🎃 structures and how to upgrade from wood to steel, to silver, and on. Once you step through the portal to the next chapter, though, your health, items, and equipment are reduced to the bare minimum once again, and the mineral-rich areas of chapter one give way to a desolate, poisoned wasteland, where even basic elements like wood are incredibly scarce. It's a bit of a bummer to lose everything at first, until you realize that this new world now holds a wholly different set of challenges that force you out of your comfort zone because you simply don't have the same materials available. Each chapter comes with its own set of unique environments and obstacles to overcome, and while the main quest is relatively straightforward, there are numerous side areas that require you to find keys or solve puzzles to access the rewards hidden within.

If you're looking for some more free-form creativity, the Terra Incognita mode is far closer to a typical Minecraft game, which dumps you into a map where you can create to your heart's content without fear of monster attacks. You can access portals that take you to the worlds of the chapters you've cleared, so you can fight enemies and gain access to unique ingredients to customize your own personal world, and then share your creations with other players online. You won't find a creation suite as deep as Minecraft’s, but you have enough tools at your disposal to create some impressive-looking structures, as long as yoꦐu have the time and resources available to do so.

While the building and exploration are well-i💟mplemented and fleshed-out, the same can't be said for Builders’ combat, w♚hich is incredibly basic and ultimately kind of wonky. Most battles are little more than watching for enemy wind-up animations and trying to move out of the way while mashing the attack button and hoping your weapons don't break mid-fight. There are the occasional town defense quests, which require you to fend off a few waves of attackers while utilizing the defenses you've built, but the moments where everything comes together (and the enemy AI cooperates with your traps) are relatively rare compared to how the rest of most encounters shake out. Ultimately, the action just isn't all that deep and satisfying, especially when held up against its more rewarding crafting and town-building systems.

Builders' camera🌊 and controls will also fight against you occasionally, and usually at the most inopportune moments. Most of the time, they're serviceable, but when you're in the thick of combat or in confined spaces, you'll likely long for more responsive and accurate controls and a camera that will actually show you what you need to see. God help you if you find yourself deep underground, as the camera pulls in so tight it's practically impossible to see what's going on. A simple first person mode (or even some m♉ore basic camera zoom controls) could have done a lot to mitigate these frustrations.

But even with these issues, Dragon Quest Builders is easy to recommend. It may not be as deep as its genre contemporaries, but its mash-up of crafting, survival elements, and RPG questing set in the colorful, cartoony world of Dragon Quest is rewarding and breezy fun for players of all levels of creative ability. David Roberts

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Liꦐke a handsome stranger, Dragon Quest Heroes makes a great first impression. It’s beautiful, smooth and unbelievably charming. But the more time you spend with it the more you start to see its foibles, and the more it starts to grate. Like noticing that it’d be the type of person who would put an empty carton back in the fridge.

After a mystical purple cloud spreads through your home city of Arba, spewing portals and turning your usually mild-mannereꦗd monster friends into hideous, death-smiling beasts, you find yourself as a royal guard trying to protect your King. After finding out just what the devil is goi🌱ng on here, it’s up to you and a handful of Dragon Quest series heroes to slaughter your former chums and put this dastardly evil portal business to bed.

From the off, Dragon Quest Heroes (or to give it its stupidly overlong full name: The World Trees Woe and the Blight Below) is vibrant and pretty, its cel-shaded characters and cute creature design giving it that distinct DQ charm. New heroes Aurora and Luceus come across as massively like🉐able, their respective brash and cautious natures playing off of each other to great comedic effect.

They also have a satisfying quickness to them in a fight. Unlike the main DQ series, which uses strictly traditional turn-based RPG com✨bat, this spin-off sees you hack and slash your way through crowds of simpleton Slimes and devilish Drackys in much the same way you’d slice your way through a Dynasty Warriors game. Attacks are easy to string together, using a combination of the tr꧟iangle and square buttons, and you can weave in magic by holding the right bumper to select your spell. And if everything goes to hell you’ve always got an arena-filling super attack to fall back on.

Sticking to tradition

Despite this being an action-based spin-off to the Dragon Quest series, it still sticks to a lot of its traditions. The monsters are the same as the ones you fight in the main series, and even the music remains unchanged. So💯metimes it's a little overboard though, like insisting you listen to a full item jingle before you can close a menu. A lot of it is great for giving you the excitable nostalgia sweats, but Square really need to learn to let a few things go for the sake of user experience.

The act of running around and stabbing things is joy♐ously good fun, but all of the little elements that surround it are where things start to falter. While battle does feel strategic at first, as you take down mawkeepers to close portals, it soon descends into chaos. Maps feel poorly thought out in terms of tactical approach, leaving them all feeling quite samey. They also tend to follow similar themes - guard the gate, guard the houses, guard the weird plant thingy that has mystical purposes that aren’t explained particularly clearly.

The use of monster coins to summon defeated foes temporarily to your side is a nice touch; in theory you can manoeuvre them to hold a position for you while you fight elsewhere on the map, but you never seem to get the ones you need and the🦹y’re not quite smart enough to competently do the job they were designed for. It all leads to a messy fight of darting back and forth trying to vaguely keep a handle on the tide of nasties, but never being able to do a clean job of it.

The recruitable heroes you encounter on your journey are also all fairly similar, so it never feels like you quite have a properly balanced team in terms of attack power and magic prowess. And while it may seem as though there are a lot 🌠of options when it comes to picking skills, you’ll find yourself funnelled into the same choices as everyone else out 🍰there. And in a stupidly outdated decision you even have to swap unused team members into your party to make sure they stay levelled, as they only get partial experience if they’re not being used. Sometimes you feel like you need to go through the motions and grind to get the most out of your squad.

It’s all just that little bit disappointing, especially after I came away from 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:the demo earlier in the year feeling so positive [link]. It gets off to such a strong start, but the game never quite manages to build on that. Even the story starts to repeat itself - there doesn’t seem to be much of a reason to visit new towns other than ‘uh-oh, there are monsters over there now’.

It’s such a shame as, despite i🐽ts issues, Dragon Quest Heroes does such a great job of harnessing the quirky spirit of the DQ series. There are loads of references to your favourite characters, and your basecamp is filled with classic touches such as the curiously beefy weapon shop owner, and the church nun who saves your game (even though autosave will do it for you).

The voice acting is also sensational. Each character comes across as cheeky and eccentric, and the dialogue sparkles. It’s also brimming with goo-reat puns and hidden secrets. Fans of Dragon Quest will appreciate digging in deeper to questไs and challenges, as well as collecting various items to brew in the alchemy pot.

Just like that handsome stranger, you’ll still appreciate Dragon Quest Heroes’ company despite its failings. The moments of personalit𝓡y-driven sparkle still shine amongst its more habitual monotony, but maybe it’s just best to only indulge it w🦩ith your time in small doses.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Dragon Quest is known for being a series of traditionally turn-based RPGS that stood toe-to-toe with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Final Fantasy back in the day, but new spin-off Heroes is ditching those origins in favour of🃏 something more action-based. Crossing those opposed genre streams seems like a recipe for disaster on paper, but Dragon Quest Heroes (full name is The World Trees Woe and the Blight Below, but whos going to remember that?) seems to be pulling it off with a smi🌞le on its face.

I got to spend a good 90 minutes with it, and while it definitely has got a whiff of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dynasty Warriors and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hyrule Warriors about it, its so much more than that. Heres what you can look forward to when it comes to PS🤪4 in the middle of October

The city of Arba is a place where humans and monsters happily coexist. until about 30 seconds in when a man with a particularly evil-looking moustache works his magic and all of the monsters start attacking people. You play as either Auroroa or Luceous and start on your quest to cut down your former monster-shaped friends while recruiting a band of heroes from previ♍ous Dragon Quest games, and journeying through a land filled with flora and fauna from the Dragon Quest universe

It plays a bit like a traditional hack-and-slash game: youre let loose in large stages with objectives to complete and waves of enemies to destroy in a flurry of glorious hipoints. While the combat is action ꦬfocused, youll return to ca💮mp between stages to do all the traditional RPG things like buying better gear and assigning attribute points to learn new skills.

You can combo together heavy and light attacks to cut your way through swathes of monsters, or use magic if youre in the mood for somethinജg a little stronger. You can also charge up a super a🌃ttack that bathes you in a healthy pink glow while you batter the entire field into submission before unleashing one final, devastating attack.

Each character also has their own weapon and distinct style, so gettღing the right mix of party members is a key component, and with 12 to choose from there will be a lot of room to customise your experience. It feels surprisingly deep from what Ive played so far, and youll continue to unlock even more combos as you level up. But if it gets a little too much you can switch playstyles to one that automatically does the combos for you at any point.

Ok, so theres definitely a lot of hacking and slashing involved, but with the fork-waving Mawkeeper spawn💙ing monster-spewing portals in various locations theres a lot more thinking involved. In one instance you must protect a generator while monsters attack in waves from different directions. Focus on one portal, and the monsters from another will swarm the generator, so youll need to split your for⛄ces.

Luckily you can recruit and use the very same monsters against their own kind As you fight, some enemies get turned into Monster Medals that you can colle𝔍ct and then dispatch to hold the fort while you slice up their kin elsewhere. Its a neat little mechanic that mixes up the Dynasty Warriors-style approach. You start with five slots, but can have up to 16 in a fight, and each monster has its own abilities. While some might stay put, others only appear for one attack. Learning to use them at just the right moment will be the key to victory.

Sure Dragon Quest looks goofy, and youll definitely feel guilty when smacking a cheery-looking giant in the face with a magic cannon, but thats part of its charm. Dragon Quest Heroes is ridiculous in the best possible way. All of yo🐬ur enemies smile at you, and each member of your team is delightfully eccentric with hilarious voice-acting to boot.

Its also brimming with the type of puns that would make even your Dad cringe right from the start (the jellyfish-like cure slime Healix it constantly yapping on about how goo-reat things are). Also if youre thinking it looks a lot like Dragon Ball Z, youd be rig☂ht, the charaꦕcters are designed by the same artist, Akira Toriyama.

Dragon Quest has never been particularly big over here despite it being hugely popular in Japan, so if youve only got a vague recollection of it you wont be the only one. Fans of the Dragon Quest series will have a lot to love here, with characters from previous entries, such as Jessica from DQ8 and Maya from DQ4, a host of traditional monsters, and plenty of musical throwbacks. But e💧ven if you dont know the difference between a Slime, a Cure Slime an🌜d a Slime Knight theres plenty to enjoy.

From what Ive played so far it feels like a꧙ well-tuned action game that just happens to be dressed in brightly-coloured Dragon Quest clothing. While its not exactly gritty by any stretch of the imagination, its magnificently charming and well worth a look in this October.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]>

This cartoon escapade breezed onto PS2 like a life-saving breath of fresh air to JRPGs. As the genre attempted to b⛎ury itself under its own stuffiness, Level-5 rose above it and delivered a fun-packed masterpiece. Make no mistake, the stat-heavy grinds are certainly still present, but they’re hidden behind a veneer of cel-shaded brilliance. And the classic tropes are so well disguised even the biggest RPG naysayer will be sucked in. And this is what makes it so good.

The gloss is immediately applied by the talented hand of character designer, Akira Toriyama. Each area of this cartoon world looks excellent, making it a treat to stomp around with Hero and his band of merry men and women. You know how enemies are supposed to look intimidating in games, right? Well in Dr✤agon Quest VIII they’re adorable. From smiling piles of slime to skewered bell peppers hopping about, each ꧟random encounter throws up a new favourite foe. We’ve even got a grinning King Slime plushie sat on our desk staring at us as we type.

The attraction to the game world and all who live in it is bolstered by the voice cast. Instead of dramatic American or Japanese🌱 dialogue being pumped into your ears, Dragon Quest VIII’s British voices immediately draw you in. Yangus, one of your pa🦄rty, speaks with such a heavy Cockney accent that it’d be right at home if it was being barked across the Queen Vic at Grant Mitchell. In fact, Yangus’ voice actor, Ricky Grover, was actually in Eastenders.

Whoever m♓ade the decision to corral the UK’s D-list celebrities in for voice-over duties deserves a giant gold medal - they fit perfectly into this fantastical universe and Dragon Quest VIII is all the better for it.

In terms of scale, only GTA: San Andreas comes close to Dragon Quest VIII on PS2. The mean streets of Los Santos may be a million miles away from the action, but Level-5’s ambition and ability to cram as much good st🥀u🀅ff in here as possible is rivalled only by Rockstar Games. Right up until the finale, we found new and exciting stuff to do away from the main story. Did you know there’s an excellent Pokémon-style fight arena run by a colourful Italian man named Morrie? You do now.

We spent hours trying to capture rare monsters to form a team worthy enough of competing in Morrie’s Monster Arena and it’s not even inteꦆgral to the plot. It’s the zen-balanced turn-based battle system that makes it moreish. Oh, and the surprise of being able to combine three monsters to ♕create one big, all-conquering beast useful for arena battles and taking on enemies in the story.

There’s a fully functioning c♕asino in Baccarat - Dragon Quest’s small scale Las Vegas. The amount of virtual currency we pumped into roulette, bingo and more to get Jessica’s legendary whip doesn’t bear thinking about (read: loads), but the setup is so charming and fun, you’ll stay here for ages. Hey, even GTA V doesn’t have a working casino yet.

The time we’ve invested in Dragon Quest VIII’s extra curricular activities is testament to Level-5’s smooth delivery. It constantly feeds you with new stuff to feast on such as alchemy pot recipes to unlock and create better weapons, tꦜowns to discover, secret slime mountains to find and so much more we’d need another 15 pages to explain it all to you. Even the ending isn’t the end of it, as a new, equally excellent story strand opens after the credits roll. Dragon Quest VIII may have breezed through PS2 as the console was fading out, but its positive effect on JRPGs will be felt forever.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> If there was ever a monster outside of Pikachu that you just wanted to take home as your new pet, it'd be Dragon Quest’s lovable slime. How could you ever want to hurt that precious smiley face on that little blue drip? And while Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 will break your heart because you’ll have to do just that, you’ll also recruit these 🧜monsters in your attempt to the become a Pokémon Mas... uh, Monster Scout. During our time with Joker 2, some aspects separated the game from Pokémon, but we also found plenty that mimicked Game Freak’s baby. In the end, what you have in Joker 2 is the “gotta catch 'em all” addiction amidst the classic Dragon Quest world... but it doesn’t quite hold the same lure as the game it apes. As generic as Joker 2 can be, the game still does enough right to make it fun.

The story is so shopworn it's hard to take seriousl🀅y. You play a poor lad who just can't afford the travel fees to compete in the monster scout tournament. Naturally, you stow away on an airship like any sane person would do. You're of course found and forced to perform manual labor to pay your way. When the airship crashes, it’s up to you to search for missing ship members, battle monsters, and discover locked away secrets of your new locale. Forget that tournament, this is the stuff that legen-wait for it-dary scouters are made of. You'll encounter some cliché characters, stilted dialogue,🍃 and plenty of bad jokes. It's a little disappointing, but the Dragon Quest series has never had groundbreaking narratives... the focus was always the world and exploration.

The bulk of gameplay consists of recruiting a team of monsters while navigating labyrinths and other destinations on the island. The structure is repetitive and humdrum, because while the locations are varied enough, the setup hardly changes - go to a new location, find a missing ship member, help them out with a task, battle an enormous monster, rinse and reꦗpeat. Recruiting monsters is more random: each party member will strike a monster and the end percentage determines if they’ll join. It can be frustrating sometimes, as probability doesn’t always work in your favor. Still, it’s always nice when a monster with a low percentage joins the team. The good news is you’ll never be at a loss finding a monster since there are over 300 available. It’s addicting, but maybe that has something to do with just how cute these monsters are.

This wouldn’t be Dragon Quest without grinding, and this is where the game loses a lot of casual appeal. Leveling up is essential because of customizable skills, but experience points don’t come quickly enough. Boss b♈attles award a wealth of experience, but only account for a fraction of experience gained. Grinding becomes as necessary as it is in a Korean MMO. Dragon Quest fans already have a high tolerance to the grind, but for everyone else, at least the battles play out quickly, as you can set up tactics for your monsters and battles continue apace. The system isn’t flawless: if you’re not manually giving orders the AI will choose seemingly random targets, leaving them vulnerable to more damage.

Where Joker 2 separates itself from Pokémon is in its monster fusion. The concept is simple: fuse two monsters together, one with a positive charge, the other a negative. Then select three skills to pass on to the new monster. In love with a particular skill or need that slime to absolutely, positively have Zap? You’re in luck. The fusion is fun to experiment with, but the problem is that the game places such emphasis on it for success. This also starts the forced grinding: you can’t fuse until a monster reaches level teꦏn, and after fusion the leveling begins again. There’s no time to form attachment with your monster; Jꦫoker 2 wants you to take your little babies and toss them aside to fuse a brand new monster. A tear may have been shed when we were forced to abandon our very first slime...

Joker 2 for tries to make the whole journey more enjoyable with little changes - monster arenas, ba🗹ttle-changing weather effects, and fast-travel abilities. Having more than one area in some of the dungeons to fast travel to would have helped: many are length𝓀y, and the game forces you to go back to your ship often to buy new weapons and fuse new monsters. The biggest issue was going back to dungeons and not remembering where we left off, which was especially frustrating due to their complexity. Joker 2 also features much in the way of online and local wireless options - like battling and trading with those both far and near. It’s a nice touch, but it will likely only be used by the hardcore players.

One issue that should have been fixed by now is the camera. It can🍒 be difficult to see where you need to be going next, such as climbing vines down to a lower level. Even with manual adjustment it’s impossible to see the exact spot you need to hit. The minimap does help combatౠ some of the camera issues, but that shouldn’t be the solution to navigation. If the game had a better UI or crisper models, this would be easier, but the grainy graphics don’t give the game’s systems or Toriyama’s art justice.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 is sure to be a thrill for the most dedicated Dragon Quest fans - doubly so if they’re Pokeaddi🌊cts. Still, the game is far from perfect and unless you’re one or both of the above, it probably won’t be the game you’ll talk about the most this year. Joker 2 is one of those games that’s fun in short bursts, b☂ut isn’t all that memorable. It does borrow some of the great parts of Pokémon while carving out its own identity in the rich Dragon Quest world. But of all the things it had to borrow from Dragon Quest, why, why did it have to be the endless grind?

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Shortly after 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:yesterday's annoucement that Dragoꦬn Quest X will be coming to Wii and Wii U, the next round of news hit: DQX is likely to have a monthly usage fee. A spec sheet found on the new site lists both “price” and “usage fee” as TBA, according to Andriasang's translation.

While Square Enix stressed that the game will be playable offline, to what extent that's true is still unknown. DQX will have online item trading, party-based questing, and other MMO-like features, but investors may be skeptical of the new online capabilities, since Square Enix stoꦆck fell ten percent between yesterday and today. If DQX does require a monthly usage fee, it's hard to imagine the online portion not having a substantial amount of content to justify that price.

However, there's still plenty of time for the game to change before it's released. The same Dragon Quest portal site says the Wii version is expected i🍸n 2012 and the Wii U is still TBA. For now, our opinion of the game is also TBA, but we'll let you know as more information becomes available.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> It’s been years since Square Enix first revealed it was going to release the tenth mainline Dragon Quest game on Wii, and today at a 🀅special press event in Japan the public got to see the game for the first ti🌱me. With a title that roughly translates to Dragon Quest X Online: Rise of the Five Tribes, the game makers reconfirmed it was coming to Wii, but dropped the big surprise it would be hitting the Wii U as well.

Above: Forgive the image quality, as these come directly from the live streaming event

After detailing the other DQ games coming soon (Fortune Street and Rocket Slime 3D among them), series creator Yuji Horii took the stage to introduce the new title. After showing off a snazzy intro cinema showcasing the five tribes from the title, he started going into the online aspects of the game. Though they str💦essed it can be enjoyed offline with computer-created party members, you can take your created character online and interact with other players, trade items, downlo♑ad new quests, many things familiar to players of Dragon Quest IX.

Graphically the early footage looked slightly better than Dragon Quest VIII didꦑ for PS2, and the gameplay also looked similar to VIII, as your cel-shaded character explored wide-open spaces in a fully 3D world. The commands in and out of fights are still menu-based, so the traditional DQ fans shouldn’t be worried there. We were intrigued to hear that the game is being internally𒈔 developed at Square Enix, instead of by a third party like Level-5 or Chunsoft. One of the producer for the game is Yosuke Saito who worked on… Nier… Hmm, well, you know that game had its charms… DQX is also directed by Jin Fujisawa, who played the same role in making DQVIII and IX.

After a gameplay demo with some eye-catching exploration and some honestly less than impressive battles, the team revealed that an enhanced version of DQX is in th🌺e works for Wii U. They went on to say that while it would look ꦦbetter, the worlds would be the same and even include some cross platform play. They also mentioned that the 3DS’s Streetpass would also be involved somehow, perhaps in just trading characters with other DQX players. It can be played with a Wii Remote and Nunchuck, Classic Controller, and even uses a USB keyboard, plus the game uses a USB device of some kind for data management.

The team i🔯s shooting for a 2012 Japanese release on Wii, but don’t expect it to hit the Wii U at the same time, though it has been implied you’ll be able to transfer your character from one version to the other. Does this new chapter in the Dragon Quest franchise entice you, or is the online aspect too strange? Does the fact that it’s still on Wii turn you off? Will you be waiting for the Wii U version? And will both versions see a US release for that matter? We expect at the very least Nintendo will publish one of those versions in the US, as they published the last few Dragon Quest games in the US. Stay tuned as💖 more info sneaks out.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> Square Enix has announced that it will be revealing the next Dragon Quest game Monday, September 5 in Japan. The news will be broadcast live thro𓄧ugh the publisher's at 2 p.m. Japan time (1 a.m. Eastern time) and we have a sneaking suspicion what 🐭it’ll be about.

While Dragon Quest X wasn't specifically mentioned, we know it's far along in development because of a remark made by Dragon Quest series composer Koichi Sugiyama last April. Sugiyama said that he was working on the soundtrack for Dragon Quest X for some time in 2012. Furthermore, a trailer for Dragon Quest X will ship with the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection when it comes out on September 15. The collection is a Japan-only title, but we don't think Square Enix will put the first look at the new Dragon Quest in another game, espe🉐cially when it could do something like a live online announcement preceded by an announcement that it'll be making an announcement.

While Square Enix revealed it was making Dragon Quest X for Wii back in 2008, no details, screens, or excerpts of companion novels for the game have been revealed so far. If the broadcast is what we think it is, Dragon Quest X will be the first Dragon Quest made for a home console since Dragon Quest VIII was released in 2004, unless you count 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Tower of Mirrors. Which we don't.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The first three Dragon Quest games and their 16-bit remakes are heading to the Wii. Square-Enix announced that Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary Commemoration: Famicom & Super Famicom Dragon Quest I•II•III would serve as part of Dragon Quests 25th anniversary. To sweeten the deal, Square will include as-yet -unannounced bonus items to accompany t🧜he compilation, which as it stands amounts to six ROMs on a DVD.

Because the 16-bit remakes of the games never made their way to the west, it seems unlikely that the compilation will come out over here. To translate the three titles wou❀ld be quite the undertaking.

Given that Nintendo and Square seem to be intent on making Dragon Quest a major franchise in the west𝄹, as evidenced by the English port of DQVI for the DS, it's possible that we may see a similar compilation without the 16-bit games, or a Dragon Quest push on Virtual Console.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Dragon-quest ]]> The off-the-cuff announcement was made during a Dragon Quest concert last Friday in Fukoda, Japan, during which Sugiyama told the audience he was "currently making Dragon Quest X's music with the aim of next year." The quote was later verified by Japanese game site (care of ), and backs up a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询: similar comment from series creator Yuji Horii in March's Nintend𒅌o Power magazine, who stated, "All we can say is that development is going well an♓d we're on the last parts of the game."

It's been over two years since Square Enix first dropped the news it'd be bringing the Dragon Quest series back to consoles for its tenth chapter, but very little info has followed since. If the studio is truly planning Dragon Quest X for a 2012 Wii release, there's a good possibility it will have to compete for attention against a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询: brand new Wii system. Unless it is secretly planning the game as a launch title for a 🅷new Nintendo console, in which case we'd all do well to prepare for fangasm of Earth shattering proportions.
