<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> //344567.top 2025-06-06T13:34:26Z en <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Until relatively recently, you would be forgiven for thinking anime releases on the big screen were solely the domain of the likes of Studio Gh♊ibli, director Makoto Shinkai, and the odd Pokemon adventure.

In the past few years, however, studios and prod♑uction companies have catapulted a new trend into cinemas: the comꦰpilation movie.

Essentially a recap of a previous season bundled with a taster for what's to come, the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and Solo Leveling have all seen succesꦿs with the theatrical package.

Now, it's the turn of Dan Da Dan with Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, an introduction to the first season's Evil Arc coupled with the first three episodes of Dan Da Dan season 2, an adventure that sees ꦗseries leads Momo and Okarun investigate supernatural goings-on at the home of Momo's former crush.

Speaking to GamesRadar+ co-director Abel Gongora from Science SARU only has good things to say about anime becoming more and more confident wꩲi♒th its strides into the theatrical space.

"For me, it's great. I could see my 🍎work on the screen and it looks amazing. The sound is really amazing in the theater," Gongora said.

Despite Evil Eye heading 🍸into cinemas, that seemingly wasn't the initial plan.

As Gongora explains, "We didn't know it was going to be a movie. That would [have been] even cool🗹er if we did it morꦺe like a prepared edition."

However, the co-directorꦿ – alongside Dan Da Dan season one director Fuga Yamashiro – hopes anime continues its trend of big-scre༺en releases.

"I was really happy to see [it] and I hope anime keeps doing things like that," Gongora said. "For exam𒆙ple, in the premi🧸ere, we had people walking around – maybe going to watch other films or shopping in the mall – but then they also saw Turbo Granny and the actors there. Then they ask, 'What is going on?' Then they might watch the anime because they saw it in the theater. That's also interesting."

Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye is out in US theaters now and in European theaters 🔯from June 7. Dan Da Dan season 2 is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix from July.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Hideo Kojima has revealed that an a𒊎nime adaptation of Death Stranding is indeed on the way🧔.

"I am currently working wꦿith A24 on a live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding," Kojima told Vogue Japan (via ). "When it comes to adapting games into visual media, there are works like The Last of Us, which stays true to the original storyline, and films like The Super Mario Bros Movie which are more of a service to fans of the game."

“While these works have their own merits, as a film enthusiast, I want to pursue the expres༒sive potential of cinema. I aim to create a Death Stranding that can only 🍬be realised through film, one that could win awards at festivals like the Cannes Film Festival or the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation.”

Kojima's Death Stranding was released in 2019 and featured voice and motion capture frಞom the likes of Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro, and Margaret Qualley. The𝓡 action-adventure game takes place in a post-apocalyptic America, and sees the player control the character Sam Porter Bridges (Reedus), a courier who must deliver supplies to remote colonies known as Knot Cities - which make up what is left of the United States of America, now known as the United Cities of America - and reconnect them via a wireless communications network.

The live-action adaptation was announced back in 2022, with A24 confirming their involvement in 2023. It was announced in April that A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski w📖ould helm the pic, with Reedus sa🥃ying he would love to be a part of the film and𝄹 reprise his character. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Want a full Naruto and Naruto Shippuden filler list? Well, you aren't alone. Yes, Naruto may be one of the most iconic and arguably 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime ever made, but it has one big problem. No, it's not that they wasted great villains like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Akatuski members in favor of random space gods 🤪(yes, this happen🍸ed), nor is it the blatant retcons or the ludicrous power creep. No, Naruto has a filler problem.

While many anime use filler (it helps the manga get ahead of the anime), Naruto uses it far more than other big series, and it's been reported that 41% of Naruto's 700 episodes are filler. Now, I know that sounds bad, but honestly, not all the filler in Naruto is dreadful. In fact, when you decide to watch all of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Naruto in order, some filler actually adds depth to characters and stories that didn't 🅷ge♈t the time to shine while Kishimoto was writing the manga week to week.

So, 🅷with that in mind, we've put together a comprehensive Naruto and Naruto Shippuden filler list (and mentioned which ones we think are worth watching) so that you can enjoy Naruto Uzumaki's journey from student to Hokage the right way.

Naruto filler list

Naruto Shippuden filler: Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha fighting each other during the anime Naruto.

The first part of Naruto follows our titular hero as he gets to grips with the basics of be🧜ing a ninja, meets his teammates, and learns his most iconic techniques. I can't lie; a lot of these filler arcs suck and should be avoided unless you're a Naruto completionist.

Below is the complete Naruto filler list:

 • Episode 26: Special Report: Live from the Forest of Death!
 • Episode 97: Kidnapped! Naruto's Hot Spring Adventure!
 • Episodes 101-106: The Land of Tea Escort Mission Arc
 • Episodes 136-141: The Land of Rice Fields Investigation Mission Arc
 • Episodes 142-147: Mizuki Tracking Mission
 • Episodes 148-151: Bikōchū Search Mission
 • Episodes 152-157: Kurosuki Family Removal Mission
 • Episode 158: Follow My Lead! The Great Survival Challenge
 • Episodes 159-160: Gosunkugi Capture Mission
 • Episodes 162-167: Cursed Warrior Extermination Mission
 • Episodes 169-173: Kaima Capture Mission
 • Episodes 175-176: Buried Gold Excavation Mission
 • Episodes 178-183: Star Guard Mission
 • Episode 184: Kiba's Long Day
 • Episode 185: A Legend from the Hidden Leaf: The Onbaa!
 • Episode 186: Laughing Shino
 • Episodes 187-191: Peddlers Escort Mission
 • Episode 192: Ino Screams! Chubby Paradise!
 • Episode 193: Viva Dojo Challenge! Youth is All About Passion!
 • Episode 194: The Mysterious Curse of the Haunted Castle
 • Episodes 195-196: Third Great Beast
 • Episodes 197-201: Konoha Plans Recapture Mission
 • Episodes 203-207: Yakumo Kurama Rescue Mission
 • Episode 208: The Weight of the Prized Artefact
 • Episodes 209-212: Gantetsu Escort Mission
 • Episodes 213-215: Menma Memory Search Mission
 • Episodes 216-220: Sunagakure Support Mission

You can definitely skip Episodeღ 26 as it's essentially a clip show, and Episode 97 is very throwaway. That said, I do quite like The Land of Tea Escort Mission Arc; it adds some more context to why Sasuke decides to leave Konoha and explores his growing insecurity around Naruto's ever-increasing power. The Land of Rice Fields Investigation Mission Arc also serves as a decent epilogue to the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, as well, and is worth a watch.

Sadly, most of the episodes between 148 and 219 are absolute stinkers, and the only ones I'd recommend are the Sunagakure Support Mission Arc, which runs from episodes 216 to 🌳220. The only reason I can recommend them is because I'm a Gaara fanboy. Oh, and whatever you do, avoid the Mizuki Tracking Mission arc. It's hot, stinky garbage.

Naruto Shippuden filler list

Naruto Shippuden filler: Naruto Uzumaki and Obito Uchiha reaching for a glowing blue orb during the anime Naruto Shippuden.

Naruto Shippuden is set two years after our knuckle-headed ninja went to train with Jiraiya, and it's whe🎶n the series really gets going. This is when the Akatsuki makes their move. We learn more about the Tailed Beasts, and there's even anotheಌr Ninja War.

The filler is also a lot better in Shippuden. While I'm not particularly partial to the Twelve Guardians Arc, it does flesh out Asuma's backstory and make his death more tragic. Meanwhile, the stuff around the Three-Tails (Guren and Crystal Release have always been fa🌠vorites of mine) and Six-Tails is brilliant 𓆉and should have been included in the manga.

Below is the complete Naruto Shippuden filler list:

 • Episode 57-71: Twelve Guardian Ninja Arc
 • Episodes 91-112: Three-Tails' Appearance Arc
 • Episodes 144-151: Six-Tails Unleashed Arc
 • Episodes 170-171: Big Adventure! The Quest for the Fourth Hokage's Legacy
 • Episodes 176-196: Past Arc: The Locus of Konoha
 • Episodes 223-242: Paradise Life on a Boat Arc
 • Episode 257-260: Naruto-Sasuke Flashback Arc
 • Episode 271: Road to Sakura
 • Episodes 279-295: Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation Arc
 • Episodes 303-320: Fourth Shinobi World War side stories
 • Episodes 347-361: Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax / Kakashi's Anbu Arc
 • Episodes 376-377: Mecha Naruto Arc
 • Episodes 388-390: Hyūga Clan Arc
 • Episodes 394-413: In Naruto's Footsteps: The Friends' Paths Arc
 • Episodes 416-431: Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchuriki Arc
 • Episodes 427-450: Jiraiya Shinobi Handbook: The Tale of Naruto the Hero Arc
 • Episodes 464-468: Ashura and Indra Arc
 • Episodes 480-483: Childhood Arc

Of all these filler stories, the Kakashi: Shadow of the ANBU Bl༺ack Ops arc is the one you really shouldn't skip. This arc explores Kakashi's backstory in the aftermath of Rin's death, and it's heartbreaking and exciting. It even has a little baby, Itachi! What's not to love? As for which ones to skip? Well, Episodes 257-260 are essentially just a recap of Sasuke and Naruto's falling ou🔜t, and the Mecha Naruto Arc is also divisive.

For a generation of anim♋e fans, not𓂃hing has quite scratched the Your Name itch since its release in 2016.

Director Makoto Shinkai certainly delivered some of the decade's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime movies in Weathering With You 🃏and Suzume, but they haven't꧟ quite stacked up to the body-swapping romance classic that melted the hearts of millions almost a decade ago.

While the new Netflix animated movie Lost in Starlight might not quite fi♎ll the Your Name-shaped hole in your life, it's certainl🌄y giving it a good shot.

Described by Parasite director Bong Joon-ho as a "visual masterpiece", the Korean film from Han Ji-won sees astronaut Nan-young (Kim Tae-ri) fall for musician Jay (Hong Kyung) in 2050s🐟 Seoul. But as Nan-young departs for Mars, the pair have to grapple with their love being separated across the cosmo﷽s.

As you can see from the trailer above, Lost in Starlight – set for release on May 30 – is a real looker with its sun-drenched cities and pitch-black trip to the stars. At its heart, too, ♋seems to be a mystery that recalls something like Interstellar – as the perils of deep space become an obstacle for Nan-young's return to Earth to be with her lover.

Lost in Starlight joins the slew of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime (and anime-adjacent, with this be𒁏ing a Korean production) projects to look forward to in the coming months.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The Akatsuki was a thorn in the Ninja Worꦜld's side for nearly the entire run of Naruto's anime, yet which Akatsuki members were strongest? On paper, that may seem like a silly question. After all, we know each of these missing-nin held an S-Rank and were so powerful that, as a collective, they destabilized the entire world. Yet even amongst this deadly team, there was a hierarchy, and it's clear some were stronger than others.

So, I've rewatched all of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Naruto in order and looked through every village's records to bring you what's unarguably the definitive ranking of all the Akatsuki members. Well, I say every member; I haven't included Juzo or Orochimaru on this list because Juzo is a Naruto filler character, and we don't know enough about Orochimaru's power level when he was part of the team. If that annoys you, well, I'm sorry, but t๊hey'd both be under Sasori (you can argue amongst yourselves as t♛o where).

I've also treated Black Zetsu and White Zetsu as single members because, although they're technically two people, no one in the group treated them as two individuals, so I'm not going to either. Does that make me lazy? Naaaah. Now, let's get into one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime series around: here are the 10 strongest Naruto Aka🧸tsuki members ranked!

All the Akatsuki members ranked by strength

10. Zetsu

The Akatsuki member Zetsu looking down during the anime series Naruto.

Easil✤y the weakest member of the Akatsuki, Zetsu himself admits he's not built for combat in the same way his colleagues are. Instead, this sneaky shinobi has several versatile jutsu, most notably the Mayfly technique. This unique jutsu allows Zetsu to merge his body with the ground and travel anywhere he likes while being completely undetectable, even by the most proficient sensor ninjas.

Zetsu also has a powerful transformation technique, which, when combined with his other moves, makes him a master of infiltration and assassination. It's also worth noting that while Zetsu may not be🌳 a p﷽owerhouse in the league of Itachi and Pain (to be fair, few ninjas are,) he's not going to lose to any random schmuck. His unique physiology gives him the ability to use the Wood Release and every other nature type, so he's more than capable of throwing hands if he needs to.

9. Hidan

The Akatsuki member Hidan screaming during a fight in an episode of the anime series Naruto.

Poor Hidan. When your signature jutsu involves dying, you know you're in trouble. Yes, Hidan might be an S-Rank ninja, but realistically, he's a one-trick pony – it's just that his one trick is pretty deadly. You see, Hidan is comple🅺tely immortal, courtesy of the god Jashin. This means he can be impaled, beheaded, incinerated, and survive. To make matters worse, he's got a technique that allows him to transfer any of the damage he takes on to the person who damaged him.

He's basically a walking, talking voodoo doll. Sounds cool, right? Well, no. Hidan’s technique isn't automatic, and it takes a ritual to perform. This means if you know his secrets and can stop him from setting up his jutsu, he's basically as useless as an ice cream handbag in the desert. Beyond this technique, Hidan has no other jutsu and an IQ lower than Sasuke's mood on the Uchiha massacre anniversary. Basically, he's rubbish, and I presume he was only allowed into the Akatsu🌞ki to make up numbers.

8. Konan

The Akatsuki member Konan looking bored during an episode of the anime Naruto.

A powerful kunoichi, Konan has an incredible power that makes her one of the dead📖liest ninjas in the world. Through unknown means, she can transform her body into paper, allowing her to form wings, weapons, shields, and anything else she can imagine. In the anime, we see her put this power to deadly use, smoothing and skewering her opponents with terrifying ease.

Konan combines her incredible power with an impressive level of strategy and high analytical skills. It was this that allowed her to work out Obito's weaknesses and push the seemingly invincible Uchiha to the brink of death. So why's 🦄she ranked so low? Sadly, we never see her win a fight, and sadly, she has a really lame weakness. Yes, what happens when paper gets wet? It falls apart – just like Konan.

7. Deidara

The Akatsuki member Deidara pointing at their head with a smirk during the anime Naruto.

If we were ranking the Akatsuki by sheer aw💦esomeness, then ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚDeidara would be top of the list, but sadly, this is a power ranking, and I'm afraid he doesn't crack the top five. Why? Well, while his explosive clay techniques are impressive, and he puts them to creative use, the sad fact is that Deidara only really knows how to do one thing, which is blow things up.

Now, I must admit he does that wonderfully; his C4 technique, which releases microscopic bombs, is particularly terrifying, and he did manage to defeat Gaara single-handedly. Yet against an opponent capable of neutralizing his bombs like Sasuke or fast enough to lock him in genjutsu, he's essentially powerless. Indeed𒆙, Deidara admitted he was weaker than his master, Sasori… speaking of which.

6. Sasori

The Akatsuki member Sasori standing in a fighting stance during the anime Naruto.

By far the most underrated member of the Akatsuki, Sasori had the ignominy of being the first member of the group to die. However, that doesn't mean he's weak. In fact, Sasori was a sort of one-man army that canonically defeated an entire country with his legions of puppets. Oh yeah, you read that right. Sasori uses puppets, but these aren't the puppets you see on Sesame Street. Each of Sasori's puppets is a deadly weapon, full of blades, projectiles, and gallons of poisonous gas, allowing him to fight his opponentღ from a safe distance.

But wait, there's more because these puppets are made from the bodies of his dead opponents, which lets him use any of their techniques, kekkei genkai, or jutsu. Sounds pretty powerful, right? It gets worse. Sasori has converted himself into a living ꦅpuppet, so even if you defeat his hundreds of puppets, you have to deal with his most potent weapon yet: himself. So, if he had all that going for him, how did Sasori lose? He let himself lose. It sounds like Kishi just wrote himself into a corner to me.

5. Kakuzu

The Akatsuki member Kazuku glaring straight ahead during the anime Naruto.

Kakuzu's a super strong ninja who, similarly to Sasori, often gets underestima꧟ted. Why don't Naruto fans rate Sasori? Sadly, the Akatsuki's unofficial treasurer had the bad luck to try and fight the show's protagonist right after a training arc (if he'd ever watched an anime, he'd know that's a recipe for disaster). In all seriousness, though, Kazuku was a beast; he had access tꦛo every nature type, knew offensive and defensive techniques, and could combine elements on the fly.

However, what made him such a terrifying threat was his signature jutsu, the Earth Grudge Fear, which granted him several unique powers, including immortality (sorry, Hidan), regeneration, and the ability to transform hisꦚ body into weird black tendrils, which he could manipulate at will. All of this made Kakuzu powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Hashirama, the First Hokage. So, with all that in mind, why isn't he in the top spot? Well, honestly, Kakuzu might be a beast, but everyone else on this list is a monster.

4. Kisame

The Akatsuki member Kisame holding a massive weapon and smiling during the anime Naruto.

Arguably the most inhuman of the Akatsuki, Kisame was completely loyal to the group's mission, which made him a ferocious fighter, especially when backed into a corner. Not that he needed much help in that regard, because Kisame, as befits his shark-like appearance, was an incredibly dangerous ninja. His basic skills were impressive enough; he was a master of water ninjutsu, an accomplished swordsman, and his taijutsu skills were high enough that he could hold off Team Gai using just 60% of his power.

What really made Kisame such a threat, though, was his sword, Samehada. This living weapon had a ravenous appetite for chakra, and with a single swing, Kisame could steal the energy of any opponent he fought. Not only that, the sword could effectively neutralize any jutsu thrown at Kisame. Incredibly, though, that wasn't the limit of the pair's power. Kisame and Samehada could fuse, becoming a horrifying shark-like monster with incredible chakra reserves. This form was capable of bringing ninja as powerful as Killer-B to their knees and made Kisame one of Akatsuki’s top fighters. Hi❀s only weakness? Well, Samehada is a fickle beast, and let's just say it's n😼ot afraid of betraying its master if it finds a more delicious chakra source.

3. Itachi Uchiha

The Akatsuki member itachi walking next to a river on a sunny day during the anime Naruto

Itachi is a ludicrously powerful ninja. He graduated from the academy at age six and was an Anbu at age 11. Even by the standards of the incredibly talented Uchiha clan, Itachi was seen as a prodigy, a genius among geniuses, who'd lead the clan to great things. Then he murdered them all. Yes, at the tender age of just 13, he wiped out one of the ninja world's strongest clans and cemented himself as a legend. That may seem obsc🎐ene, but his powers and skill made it child's play. In all seriousness, Itachi has superb taijutsu and ninjutsu skills, but it's his genjutsu abilities that make him such a powerhouse.

With a glance from his Sharingan, he can cast illusions so powerful they're indistinguishable from reality, allowing him to easily defeat even the most powerful opponents. Unarguably, though, what makes Itachi one of the Aktsuki's most prized fighters is his Mangekyou Sharingan, which gives him access to Amaterasu (black fire that can burn through anything), Tꦫsukuyomi (the most powerful genjutsu in the series), and Susano, a sort of kaiju-sized chakra avatar. Itachi also wields the Sword of Totsuka and the Yata Mirror. Oh, and he can rewrite reality by sacrificing the sight in his eyes. So, how was he defeated? Well, he does have one weakness: he loves his little brother.

2. Pain

The Akatsuki member Pain and a bunch of his puppets standing together during the anime Naruto.

The self-proclaimed God of the Shinobi world, Pain doesn't just talk the talk. He walks the walk. What makes him very nearly the top dog? Well, he has the Rinnegan, special eyes that are supposedly a gift from the gods, which give Paꦐin powers beyon⭕d imagining. He can manipulate gravity, summon unique and powerful animals, absorb chakra, tear people's souls from their bodies, hear your thoughts, shoot missiles from his head (yes, really), and absorb chakra. He's essentially every member of the Akatsuki in one body… actually no. He's every member of the Akatsuki in six bodies because Pain, real name Nagato, doesn't go into battle himself. He splits his power into six bodies (known as the Six Paths of Pain) that he controls remotely, which allows him to stay safe regardless of what happens to his puppets.

Not that much happens to his puppets because of how obscenely strong they are. This guy took down the entire Konoha military single-handedly, killed Jiraiya and Kakashi, and basically ma✅de every leaf shinobi who wasn’t called Naruto look like they were fresh out of the academy. Even when Naruto arrived, it turned out that the title character was barely a match for Pain, and it took the combined efforts of the Toad Sages, three kaiju-sized toad summons, and a last-minute save from Hinata and Naruto's ghost parents for them to defeat the Six Paths. The only reason Nagato lost? He fell victim to Naruto's most powerful ability, the talk-no-jutsu.

1. Obito Uchiha

The Akatsuki member Obito glaring angrily straight ahead during the anime series Naruto.

Now I know what you're thinking afteꦛr Pain and Itachi; how broken must Obito be? Well, he's more broken than a LEGO set that's just fallen off a 30-foot skyscraper into a pool of plastic melting acid. Obito is bonkers. Not only does he have the usual Uchiha abilities – the Sharingan, powerful chakra, and all that good stuff – he was trained by Madara, the strongest Uchiha in history, has the same body as Zets💖u, giving him Wood release, and he's got a Rinnegan just like Pain.

Yes, you read that r😼ight he's effectively a grab bag of every power we’ve listed so far (Except Hidan's powers because he sucks), but there'꧟s more. Like Itachi, Obito has unique Mangekyou Sharingan powers that let him control time and space. Using this power, which is called Kamui, he can teleport himself, become completely intangible, and suck people into fissures into the space-time continuum. He can literally blink you out of existence. Terrifying right?

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> A-1 Pictures has just announced that it's developing a new movie adaptation – and it sounds like it's going to gi♔ve us a fantasy-based existential crisis.

The anime studio, whose ex▨isting titles include Erased, Black Butler, and Solo Leveling, shared today (April 11) that it's developing a film based on Keigo Higashino's bestseller Kusunoki no Bannin (Keeper of the Camphor Tree). It also shared that it's aiming for a 2🐼026 release in Japan.

Published in 2020, the novel follows Reito Naoi after he is unceremoniously sacked 𒀰from his job and arrested, after he tries to retaliate by stealing a valuable device from his workplace. Later, a random encounter with a mysterious lawyer kicks off a chain of bizarre meetings that, in turn, see him become the caretaker of a supposedly wish-granting tree. Over time, Reito discovers that his life shares a special connection to the tree, and sets out on a mission to unravel its secrets.

"If you knew yo🧜u didn't have long to live, who would you tell? What ☂would you say? And how would you deliver the message?" reads the official logline. The book has reportedly sold over a million copies since its release.

Death Note assistant director Tomohiko Ito, who previously collaborated with A-1 Pictures on Sword Art Online, is set to helm the flick. "People disappear suddenly, and it's impossible for the status quo to continue 🧸forever. This is something that I've been thinking about a lot over the past few years... now that I'm over 40, I've come to understand the feelings of those who leave behind from the perspective of those who are left behind. I'm not just talking about genetic information, but also things like technology and spirituality," he said in a statement (via ).

While we wait for more on Kusunoki no Bannin, check out our picks of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best Netflix shows or our round-up of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime titles you need to be watching.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> It's one of🥀 anime's most daunting tasks. Before you even set 🀅sail with the Straw Hats over 1,000 episodes, you may be acutely aware of the amount of One Piece filler to get through.

While it's a faux pas to skip through western shows in the hopes of finding the treasure within,🉐 anime viewers are a lot more accustomed to picking and choosing which episodes to watch.

Seeing as how One Piece is one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime series aro🍒und, you may want to know which episodes are worth your time and which ones, frankly, aren't.

To help, we've charted all the One Piece filler episodes and movies for you to have the smoothest voyage possible through Eiichiro Oda's beloved franchise. We can tell you every bit of filler, then map out which episodes should sink without a trace in your upcoming One Piece marathon. Of course, it's all up to you. We're just giving you the treasure map; the spoils you go for are entirely your own decision. You can also check out our guide to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:One Piece Egg♉head Arc release scheduꦉle if you want to keep up with the newest adventures. For now, though, let's set sail🌄 for Luffy and pals.

One Piece filler list: what episodes should I skip?

Thankfully, One Piece doesn't have a lot of filler. Many long-running anime shows have a🦋 certain amount due to the production company catching up to 😼the manga and needing to let more plot build up. Despite running for over 1100 episodes, only around 9% of them are filler, or 95 episodes.

The storylines are often just as wild as any other season, but they don't have any real lasting impact. More often than not, the Straw Hats wind up having to wriggle out of some unexpected situation. Occasionally, we get a history lesson, with some backstory for members of the crew, and sometimes a filler episode is purely a one-off story about Luffy and his coho♈rts in any time period, and what that looks like.

The same can't be said of the movies. 11 out of 15 are totally filler, but because of their greater production value and self-contained stories, there's a stronger💃 case for not missing them out.

Nonetheless, here's the complete One Piece filler list:

 • Movie 1: One Piece: The Movie
 • Movie 2: Clockwork Island Adventure
 • Episodes 54-60: Warship Island Arc
 • Movie 3: Chopper's Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals
 • Episode 98: Enter the Desert Pirates! The Men Who Live Freely

Which One Piece filler arcs and movies can you skip?

While you can skip every episode and movie of One Piece filler, a couple of them do add some value to the overall narrative. You get a deeper under🍌standing of some characters, as well as fun adv🍸entures and, especially in the case of the films, some stunning animation.

The G-8 Arc is the biggest highlight, where the Going Merry, the ship of the Straw Hats, is taken by the Marines. Luffy and the crew have to split up to get it back in the marine base, each ꦐtaking a different path and employing different means to get to their treasured vessel.

The Post-Arabasta Arc is another that gives more substance to the Straw Hats, providing flashbacks to five members of the🥂 crew. Luffy and Robin aren't included, letting you focus entirely on other characters who don'🌞t get as much attention otherwise.

In terms of the movies, much like Dragon Ball Z, none of them are necessary for the ongoing plot. However, they shine in terms of production, and a few will tug on your heartstrings and ha🌃ve you꧅ on the edge of your seat.

Of the 15 (!) so far, we recommend these five: Strong World, Z, Gold, Stampede, and Red, each for a dis🥃tinct reason. Strong World is actually written by Eiichiro Oda, and you get more time with Shiki, a canonical villain. Z is a fan-favorite, pitting the Straw Hats in a race against time to prevent a cataclysmic event. If you like heist movies, Gold plays like the Straw Hats starring in their own version of Ocean's Eleven, making it incredibly fun.

Stampede's plot concerns the quest for the One Piece, and🐷 why it matters that the whole journey is taking so long. Finally, Red has a clever plot that's well told with some gorgeous visuals, and it's worth watching just to see how far the franch🦩ise has come on-screen.

The best One Piece filler arcs that you should watch

You should catch three One Piece filler arcs in particular. The G-8 Arc is a funny, smart romp with a lot o🦩f nuance on who each of the Straw Hats are. Many fans are hoping it's retroactively made canon, and it's tr🦋eated with some reverence within the wider community.

The Post-Arabasta Arc provides good backstory to the crew outside of Luffy and Robin, a treat for anyone who loves their mythology. Finally, the Boss Luffy Historical Specials are s📖ingle-episode stories where the Straw Hats are in a different era from history. They're just charming TV throu🧔gh and through.

The best One Piece filler arcs to watch:

 • Episodes 131-135: Post-Arabasta Arc
 • Episodes 196-206: G-8 Arc
 • Episodes 291, 292, 303, 406-407: Boss Luffy Historical Specials

Will the One Piece remake have filler episodes?

A close-up of Luffy holding his fist during the anime One Piece.

We don't expect the One Piece remake to have any filler episodes.

If there are any, it'll be a minimal amount. The One Piece remake is a full reboot from the ground up, improving visu🍒als and tigಌhtening up the writing across the board.

Modern ani🐟me production has moved away from filler as we ꦅonce understood it. Studios don't need to produce as many weekly episodes anymore, since seasons have gotten shorter and much of the audience is online.

Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and My Hero Academia, many of the biggest properties of the last 15 or so years, have much, much less filler compared to what came before. Even the associated films 𒁏are becoming canon, as both Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen have movies using actual manga source material.

Rather than filler, we tend to get stꦗopgap movies between seasons, such as Spy x Family Code: White, or com൩pilation films, like Solo Leveling: ReAwakening. The former doesn't affect the status quo, and the latter is usually a blend of existing footage and a preview of what's coming.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The first three episodes of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dan Da Dan season 2 are coming to cinemas – we✃eks before it's set to premiere on Netflix𓆏.

The first season's finale will be bundled with the opening trio of entries in the upcoming second season for a compilation movie titled Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye. As the name suggests, it's going to adapt the ma🙈nga's Evil Eye arc, which sees protagonist Momo'♛s friend possessed by a vengeful (and murderous) spirit.

Pleasingly, this isn't going to be a situation akin to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle or the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Chainsaw Man movie and their slow and staggered release plans. Instead, there will be a "global theatrical rollout" in the lead-up to July's s🐷eason 2 bow on Netflix. It's landing in the US on June 5 and Europe in June 6.

Its sudden move to cinemas proves that Dan Da Dan was one of the standout 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime in 2024 – and looks to capitalize on a surge in fandom for the supernatural love story. The compilation movie, too, is t🀅he latest entry in a trend that has provided early, bundled looks at the likes of Demo𒈔n Slayer, Solo Leveling, and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Revolving around the most unlikely of duos, Dan Da Dan pairs up the bookish Okarun and the headstrong Momo, who each believe in a separate strand of the supernatural and the occult. The kicker? Okarun believes in UFOs, while Momo swears aliens don't exist. Momo is more a🏅 ghost-believing gal – something that tickles Okarun until he suddenly comes face to face with a fearsome spirit.

Dan Da Dan season 2 is hitting Netflix this July. For more, check out the latest on some of the year's other big releases, including 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:One-Punch Man season 3 and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:My Hero Academia season 8.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Good news anime fans, the new Ch❀ainsaw Man movie has finallꦉy set an international release date.

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, will hit US screens on October 29. This means that fans in the US will only have to wait just over one month to see the film after it premieres in Japan on September 19. The news was confirmed by Sony Pictures at CinemaCon in Las Vegas,💦 as reported by . Sony has acquired worldwide theatrical rights to the movie, and will bring the ani🅰me adaptation to more than 80+ countries from September 24, 2025.

Sony the🤪n revealed the news to the world via , alongside a new bloody poster featuring the Chainsaw Man himself wielding his bladed arms. Check out the post below.

The movie serves as a sequel to the highly popular 2022 anime TV show Chainsaw Man, which is in turn adapted from the manga of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The show♏ follows a teenage boy named Denji who is forced to harvest devil corpses for the Chainsaw Devil Pochita. However, one day Denji is killed himself, but before he passes to the other side, he makes a deal with Pochita to be revived as a man with the devil’s heart known as Chainsaw Man.

The Chainsaw Man Movie seems to pick up from where season 1 leaves off and sees Denji now happily part of the Special Division 4's🃏 devil hunters and dat🔯ing the woman of his dreams Makima. However, things take a turn after Denji meets local café worker named Reze (hence the Reze Arc).

The film welcomes back some of the original Chainsaw Man crew, such as director Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously directed the fourth and tenth episodes of the series, and writer Hirosh▨i Seko. Original character designer Kazutaka Sugiyama is also back on board.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The release date for Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc has been revealed, and it continues a bumper 2025 for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime announcements.

The follow-up to the first season of Chainsaw Man hits Japanese cinemas on September 19. A western release date for the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Chainsaw Man movie hasn't yet been confirmed as of 🍌writing. The neꦓws was revealed during a panel at this year's AnimeJapan event.

What 🥃can we expect from the Reze Arc? As we already know, it's a canon continuation of Chainsaw Man in place of a second season.

As per its synopsis, "Denji became Chainsaw Man a bo🍷y with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his ཧdreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café."

Those with a cursory eye on the manga will know it adapts the🦩 Bomb Girl arc (chapters 40-52) which, itself, is around halfway through the series' first part, titled Public Safety Saga. In short, things are abo🐷ut to get explosive.

Elsewhere in the anime sphere, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle brings the first part of the final chapter in Tanjiro's st🍰ory to the big screen in July in Japan and in September in the US and UK.

On the television side, the upcoming spring season features the likes of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Fire Force season 3, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Devil May Cry, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:a One Piece return this April.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Evangelion's Hideaki Anno has revealed he's currently working on five different anime scripts, and that's not counting hi﷽s possible new Shin Kamen 🍌Rider project.

The renowned animator and director took to Twitter on March 18 to point out that the day marked 53 years since Kamen Rider vs. Shocker premiered – and kickstarted his love of the genre. He also pointed out that it had been two years exactly since Shin K𝄹amen Rider, his acclaimed live-action take on the material, was released.

"As of today, I am currently working on voice recording and writing screenplays for five different works," Anno continued. "But if the Shin Kamen Rider: Kamen no Sekai [Masker World] project is green-lit, I would also like to work hard on it as a sixth 🌠project."

It's unclear whether or not the Studio Khara founder was including his upcoming Gundam series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX as one of the "five different works", though it seems safe to assume so given that it's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:set to 𝔍air on Prime Video from April 8. With that, it's unlikely he's st🐟ill working on post-production or penning scripts for it🌜.

"I'm guessing: Return of Shin Ultraman,🙈 Shin UltraSeven (these first two were in♐ the Shin Ultraman pitch document from a few years), Space Battleship Yamato, another Evangelion movie? and maybe something Gquuuuux related?" .

"One of them is𓃲 probably Yamato, but I'm really curious about the other four," , while : "Shin Yamato, Sie🌞g Axe Movie Version, Shin Return of Man, Shin Sentai, Shin Mighty Jack?"

Back in October 2024, it was announced that Studio Khara had acquired the rights to produce a new Space Battleship Yamato animated film, and that production was tentatively expected to kick off in 2025. Anno has said to have been quietly working on Shin Kam🦂en Rider: Masker World since April 2023, around the time his first reimagining came out.

As for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, "Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl who lives a peaceful life in a space colony floating in space, meets Nyaan, a war refugee girl, and gets caught up in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition &apo𓃲s;Clan Battle'," reads the official synopsis. "Using the entry name 'MACHU' Amate pilots a GQuuuuuuX and throws herself into fierce battles every day. At the same time, an unidentified Mobile Suit 'Gundam,' pursued by both the space army and the police, and its pilot, a boy named Shuuji, appears before her. And the world is about to enter a new era."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> An innovative new anime movie that encourages moviegoers to use their phones in tꦦheaters (yes, you read that right) is taking Japan by storm, with many viewers returning ღto experience the film again and again.

According to the musical anime movie Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle has earned more than $5 million at Japan's box office so far. Created by🌼 Japanese production company King Records, the film is currently playing in 85 cinemas across Japan and is said to be the world’s ꦛfirst fully interactive theatrical film.

The anime follows six battle ⛦rap teams competing for musical glory. The story is set around a string of rap battles featuring songs from Japan’s leading hip-hop groups. The whole film comes under two hours but there are actually over five hours of footage to be seen, totaling 48 different outcomes based on which route audiences decid🌳e to take.

So, how does it work? Viewers must first ꧂download the Hypnosis Mic app onto their phone and then once at the cinema, moviegoers will be able to scan a QR code that links the app with the screen in front of them. Then, at numerous points throughout the film, viewers are able to vote on their desired outcome.

Of course, interactive film isn't💙 unheard of as Netflix has tried its hand with it in the past with Black Mirror: Bandersnatch for example, but to have this experience in the cinema is certainly new. The most impressive part is that over 30 percent of the film’s viewers have returned to see it more than once. This is because repeat viewing allows moviegoers to pick different outcomes until their ideal route is chosen via the group voting system.

Due to its success in Japan, King Records, who supply the technolo♛gy for interactive screenings, is looking to expand international markets. The device needed is ab𝐆out the size of two PlayStations that runs on high-speed internet and a connection to a projector, meaning, it can be used at virtually any theater.

Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle is now out in Japanese theaters. For more, check out our list of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime, or keep up with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime heading your way this year.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> A live-action television series based on the fantasy mangs series Cla꧙ymore is officially in the works.

According to , Heroes star Masi Oka is developing the series in partneꦺrship with CBS ꦜStudios and will serve as executive producer. CBS is currently searching for writers.

Claymore, written and illustrated by Norihiro Yagi, was first published monthly in Weekly Shonen Jump back in 2001. The series is set on a medieval island where humans are hunted by humanoid shape-shifters known as the Yoma. A mysteriജous company known simply as The Organization creates female human-Yoma hybrids to kill the Yoma – and essentially save mankind. The female warriors are referred to as "Claymores," due to their claymore swords.

A 24-episode anime series aired in Japan from April 2007 to Septembe𝓡r 2007, and adapted the first through eleven volumes of the manga. The episodes can be currently be streamed in♌ the US on Crunchyroll.

Per Deadline, the upcoming live-action series adaptation "aims to preserve the action and complex moral dilemmas of the original manga and the anime TV series." The report also not🐎es that there's been an increased interest in live-action anime adaptations due to the success of Netflix's One Piece, which did, indeed, effectively end the Western live-action curse by not only being manga-accurate, but also by leaning into the true campy and soap opera elements that anime often comes with.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Princess Mononoke is returning to theaters in 🍌the US and Canada – in IMAX, and with a 4K restoration.

The Studio Ghibli flick follows Ashitaka, a young Emishi prince who's exiled after being cursed by a demon. On a quest to cur൲e himself of the curse, he becomes entangled in the conflict between Irontown and the nearby forest of the gods, including a feud between the town's leader, Lady Eboshi, and San, a young girl raised by wolves.

Originally released in 1997 and written and directed by Studio Ghibli boss Hayao Miyazaki,𒐪 the voice cast for the English-language dub included Billy Crudup, Claire Danes, Billy Bob Thornton, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Gillian Anderson.

Princess Mononoke was a hit with critics and has a near-perfect sꦏcore of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was a success at the Japanese box office, too, becoming the highest-grossing movie in the country. Now, almost three decades later, it's still the eighth highest-grossing movie of all time in Japan.

While the re-release is limited to North America for now, it's quite likely that the movie might make its way across the🅠 pond in the near future as there have been a spate of Ghibli re-releases over the past few monthཧs. Last summer, for example, My Neighbor Totoro returned to UK cinemas, with Spirited Away following a few months later and Howl's Moving Castle set to arrive this April.

Princess Mononoke arrives in theaters in the US and Canada on March 26. For more, check out our guide to this year's biggest 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming movies.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Bad ♍news, Ultramaꦍn: Rising fans! The anime movie's writer-director Shannon Tindle has confirmed that a sequel isn't likely to happen anytime soon, despite his interest in following up the adventures of Ken and Gigantron.

"I'd love to make another, but currently, it's 🌸not in the cards," . "However, I've just started working on something I'm very excited about:) More🌃 to come…"

"This is so upsetting," a par🌱ticularly gutted follower replied. "Ultraman: Rising was the biggest surprise of last year. A movie so magnificent that it skyrocketed to #1 on my favorite films of 2024 list. More people needed to see this film because there was an endless supply of talented individuals who made🌜 this Tokusatsu film something truly magical."

"Honestly it's a miracle that a movie like Rising even exists in the fir๊st place, so I'll take that as a win at least," said another. "Maybe one day we’ll get a sequel."

Based on Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman franchise, the film landed on Netflix back in June 2024, and swiftly earned itself an impressive 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. It centers on all-star baseball player Kenji 'Ken' Sato, who abandons his career in the US to return home to Japan and follow in his superhero father's footsteps. Taking on the mantle of Ultraman, he's forced to defend Tokyo from giant monsters. But his mission is compromised when he stumbles ꦐacross a baby kaiju in need of a family; albeit a 35-foot tall firebreather.

Before long, Sato takes it upon himself to put aside his ego and balance wཧork and parenthood, to protect the little one from those looking to corrupt her immense power.

Christopher Sean (You), Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Ca꧒ndles), Tamlyn Tomita (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Keone Young (Star Wars Rebels), and Julia Harriman round up the voice cast.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Without spoiling anything at all, I strongly recommend thꦿat anyon🔴e with even a passing interest in the incredible new Gundam anime – Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (yes, really) – learn nothing more about it beyond the fact that they should learn nothing more about it. I'm not even really a stickler when it comes to spoilers overall, and I broadly don't mind getting spoiled myself as it comes with the territory of my job, but that's also why my advice should be taken seriously.

My general attitude is that if learning what happens in a movie or show truly ruins the experience for you, it's not a particularly good movie or show on its own merits. The plot is just one aspect of the whole, after all. Learning a single part of a movie or show only slightly impacts foreknowledge, in the same way that knowing Robert Pattinson is in Mickey 17 and does a little voice again doesn't tell the whole story about that movie. If anything, I'm maybe more exciꦺted to see Mickey 17 because I know Pattinson does a little vo🍰ice in it.

So, sure, watch the trailer for theatrical compilation anime film Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- (again, yes, really) and peep the key art and synopsis. And maybe eyeball what 🔯some of your favorite critics are saying about it if you're willing to gamble. Or wait to watch the anime series proper when it starts actually airing in early April. But I beg of you: avoid learning anything else that you possibly♈ can. Find out about the little voice, so t🍨o speak, but don't dig any deeper.

Newtype of spoiler alert

It's not like GQuuuuuuX (once more, yes, really) will be actively worse for having been spoiled. The movie and series will remain jus🦩t as valuable as works of art. But if you can manage to experience either or both with a fresh perspective, that's going to go a long way. I wish I'd been able to follow my own advice – don't get me wrong, I had a great time, but I suspect that my experience would have been all the mo🧜re heightened the first time through if I didn't really know what I was getting myself into.

Making this kind of plea is inherently difficult, however. If I told you why I think folks should go in largely blind, ꦡwell, that… wouldn't be going in largely blind, would it? But it makes the logical aspect here fairly feckless. Logically, there's no good way to convince you to not go check out♍ all the trailers and hashtags to your heart's desire; I'm prohibited by the very nature of my argument from actually making it.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX still of main character Nyaan

And so, pathos it is. You cannot replicate the experience of not knowing something. Experiencing anything at all for the first time is not a repeatable action, and when you know what Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (for one final time, yes, really) is all about, well, you know that for good. Unless you forget, of course. This whole point is moot for people with a bad or faulty memory, and for all the times you've lost your keys at least you folks also ౠget to keep a sense of wonder about things.

But it's that same wonder here that I implore you to protect. ♕In my own case, and again because of the hazards of my job, I learned just a smidge too much. I still had a great time with the compilation movie, but I do wish someone had taken me by the shoulders and told me not to wantonly Google the name of the film in my search for showtimes. So, consider this me digitally taking you by the virtual shoulders; you can thank me later.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is currently airing in theaters. The full Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series is set to begin airing in Japan on April 8, and looks to be heading to Amazon's Prime Video internationally. While we wait, you're welcome to check out 澳洲幸运✤5开奖号码历史查询:the best anime you should be watching in ༺2025.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> We've known for a while that a second Haikyuu movie was on the way, but there's been precious few scoutꦗing reports about Karasuno's next match and th🌠eir opponents – until now.

Titled Haikyuu VS The Little Giant, it sees Hinata go up against another diminutive opponent as the Nationals continꦿue followin🅰g the dramatic events of last year's The Dumpster Battle.

Below, you'll find everything that's been revealed about the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime movie so far, including its very first trailer. Haikyuu VS The Little Giant release date speculation

As🦄 of writing, no release date for Haikyuu🌸 VS The Little Giant has been announced.

But we certainly have some ideas on when it might make it back onto the court. For further clarification, we should head back to the previous movie's release plans. There, The Dumpster 🐓Battle was announced in August 2022 before finally dropping some 18 months later in February 2024 in Japan.

If that's the same again, we wouldn't be surprised to see a fall 2026 release date aꦅs each Little Giant does battle with each other on the grandest stage of them all – in cinemas.

Given that the production teams now have their fair share of feature film experience (and not to discount that this was potentially being worked on back to back with the last film), a 2026 release window feels realistic. The fact that a release𒊎 date hasn't yet been given seems to completely rule out a 2025 arrival, however – at least in the west.

Haikyuu VS The Little Giant story: what manga chapters is it adapting?

Haikyuu VS The Little Giant 𒊎will adapt the majority of the remaining chapters in the manga's Tokyo Nationals Arc, but not all of it (more on that in just a moment).

Fo🌟r this movie♔, all you need to know is it's set to cover around chapter 327 and then chapters 338-365.

The Little Giant is se🌺t to pick up immediately where The Dumpster Battle movie left off. With Karasuno having finally defeated their eternal rivals Nekoma – and sparking Kenma's passion for the gam🧸e – they move on to the quarter finals to face opponents Kamomedai High and their star player Korai Hoshiumi, AKA The Little Giant.

Unfortunately for Hinata, he's set to find out why his rival is also called The Little𒊎 Giant – the nickname of a player he once looked up to. While we don't spoil the action (or the result) here, expect another fast and furious encounter as each school bids to stay in th🐲e tournament.

Completionists should also ensure they watch the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming Haikyuu special The Place Where Monsters Go. That will cover the quarter final match betw꧂een two other schools, Fukurodani and Mujinazaka and their respective aces Bokuto and Kiryu. For those reading along🦩 in the manga, that's covered by chapters 328-337.

Is Haikyuu VS The Little Giant the final movie?

Now, this is interesting. In 2022, it w♏as announced that Haikyuu would come to an end with two 'FINAL' movies instead of the expected fifth sﷺeason.

But it remains to be seen whether VS The Little Giant is actually the f♌inal movie. Notably, the show's has removed 'Final' from The Little Giant's movie title – and given fans fresh hope that the manga's post-timeskip Final Arc will be adapted.

Given that The Dumpster Battle made a cool $100 million at the worldwide box office – making it the 30th highest-grossing Japanese film of all time – it appear꧋s there's plenty of demand for fresh volleyball action from Hinata and his team. We certainly wouldn't rule out a Final Arc adaptation – whether that's on the big screen, a fifth season, or a series of television specials. Watch this space.

Haikyuu VS The Little Giant trailer

Despite the movie still not having a release date, the first Haikyuu VS The Liꦜttle Giant trailer is here.

The minute-long teaser, which you can see above, cꩵharts Karasuno's exploits in both their biggest matches to date as well as their current run of tournament victories. Then, focus moves to their opponents Kamomedai and their own 'Little Giant', Hoshiumi.

Will Hinata fly high or will Hoshiumi fly that little bit higher? The Little Giant looks set to answer that question. While that's still up for debate, the trailer teases that we'llဣ get even more high-octane, fist-pumping volleyball action from the animation studio Production I.G.

A VS The Little Giant poster has also been released, showcasing some of ღthe players that have strutted their stuff at the Nationals. See it for yourself below.

As you might imagine, all of Karasuno's players will be back on the court for VS The Little Giant. That includes Hinata (voiced by Ayumu Marase), the irascible setter Kageyama (Kaito Ishikawa), and Karasuno's captain Daichi (Satoshi Hino). Quiet-willed Asahi (Yoshimasa Hosoya), libero Nishinoya (Nobuhiko Okamoto) and hot-headed Tanaka (Yu Hayashi) will join the fray agains💞t Kamomedai in the quarter final.

Other players include Tsukushima (Koki Uchiyama), Sugawara (Miyu Irino) and Yamaguchi (Soma Saito), wh♑ile Hitoka Yachi (Sumire Morohoshi) and Kiyoko Shimizu (Kaori Nazuka) will be watching fromܫ the sidelines.

On the🦋 🐭opposing side, Kamomedai's team consists of ace Hoshiumi (Natsuki Hanae), middle blocker Hirugami (Yu Miyazaki), and setter Sawa (TBA), who also captains the team.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The release date for the first 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie has been revealed.

As revealed at the Corps Gathering event on March 1, the upcoming feature is h✅itting cinemas on July 18, 202ꦚ5.

For those out of the loop with Tanjiro's demon-hunting exp♉loits, the manga's Infinity Castle arc is set to be adapted as a full movie trilogy.

Depending on how clo♒sely it follows Koyoharu Gotouge’s source material, it could cover both the Infinity Castle arc (chapters 137-183) and the Sunrise Countdown arc (chapters 184-205). That would, in theory, bring the entire Demon Slayer story to a close on the big screen instead of on streaming.

The last we saw of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro, his friends, and his Hashira allies were drawn into the 'Infinity Castle', the headquarters of series' Big Bad Muzan Kibutsuji and his legion of remaining, uber-po🐲werful, Upper Rank d꧙emons.

While Demon Slayer has released a series ꩵof recap and compilation movies in recent years, 2025's Infinity Castle movie stands to be the first full-fat, original feature for the h🔯it anime since 2020's Mugen Train.

Remarkably, that film became that year's hi💙ghest-grossing at the COVID-affected box office, even besting the likes of Christopher Nolan's Tenet.

Demon Slayer isn't the only 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime to get excited about in 2025, however. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:My Hero Academia season 8 brings that superhero series to a close from April, while 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:One-Punch Man season 3 is also scheduled to 🥂release ꦫin this calendar year.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is, in many ways, the ideal mecha anime compilation film. The newest addition 🤪to the 46-year-old franchise – which helped establish the real robot genre – is an invigorating, salty-sweet reimagining of the original TV show's grim, intergalactic conflict, with enough dorky irreverence and Barbie pink explosions to satisfy both old fans and series newcomers. But I can't understand w🎃hy Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX spoils the fun by sexualizing its teen girl protagonist.

The film, which is an edited, theatric꧑al version of some episodes in the new Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX TV show – set to release in Japan on April 8 – has enough merit to fill a gold mine. It shou🌸ldn't need to rely on cheap peeks under her schoolgirl skirt.

GQuuuuuuX is the series' first major collaboration between 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno's Khara studio and Bandai Namco's Sunrise – "a crossing of dreams," Gundam calls it in . Anno himsel🍰f co-wrote the script alongside Revolutionary Girl Utena writer Yoji Enokido, while Anno's disciple and Evangelion director Kazuya Tsurumaki handled GQuuuuuuX's direction.

That is enough industry power to keep a wind turbine swirling, and the result is both visually and emotionally stunning. The alternate universe movie follows Machu, a high schooler with pink hair and a natural ability to command the fearsome mobile suit GQuuuuuuX. She uses the suit – clumsily lost by the Zeon military, coaxing Challia Bull into a wary pursuit – in illegal "clan battles," hoping to win money for the quiet, blue-haired delivery g🍨irl Nyaan while growing closer to her mysterious second-in-command Shuji.

A screenshot shows Machu, Nyaan, and Shuji sitting around a broken mobile suit.

I quickly became attached to Machu while watching GQuuuuuuX at its New York premiere. While the movie supplies bꩵarely any details about her life beyond a few casual remarks – she goes to cram school, her mother loves her – it emphasizes her listlessness at several points. Machu aches t𓆏o experience real gravity and real seas, not the manufactured environment of her colony in UC 0085. Even with the galaxy spilling endless stars around her, she wonders, "Can you be free in space?"

Her philosophical angst is fresh and relevant, reminding me of my o𝓀wn ennui existing in a society where billionaires romanticize Mars, and the world seemingly has little regard for women's safety. GQuuuuuuX's laser swords and pretty character designs – reminiscent of the clean and colorful style of the original '80s Gundam – emphasize Machu's revelation when she discovers a portal of fractured, ♐rainbow light during a mobile suit battle.

"Kira kira," she calls it, or glitter🔯, a vacuum of endless shine she starts to yearn for.

I love Machu for her ambition. Ultimately, she's an unabashedly girly genius, who modernizes the Gundam franchise by being one oꦜf its few female protagonists with dimension. That's a cue GQuuuuuuX seems to take from Evangelion. But, despite both the character and the film's impressiveness, I just can't get over the fact that, in GQuuuuuuX – much 🔴like Evangelion treats its own female characters – Machu is mercilessly sexualized.

Right after we see Machu's face in GQuuuuuꦰuX, we see her underwear. The high schooler is introduced in a handstand position, surrounded by a crowd of classmates squealing about her panties. From this early moment in the film, I felt my guard go up, making it impossible to savor any of the intriguing moments that were to follow.

Hypersexualizing young girls is one of anime's most pervasive tropes, and it's as revolting as a wound that won't close. Apart from contributing to a , legendary but lecherous anime like Evangelion🐼 also makes🍎 it impossible for me as a female audience member to legitimately connect with a female character. There's always a voice whispering in the back of my mind, reminding me that she's only here for people to gawk at, not relate to.

It's alienating. And it's disappointing that Machu is subjected to such lazy exploitation; GQuuuuuuX also depicts the small, obviously young character naked in the bathtub in an unnecessarily drawn-out sequence, and naked in the kira kira, though no other character who passes through the sparkle appears to lose their clothes. She also wiggles through an older man's legs while controlling a mobile suit for t🔴he first time, something that made my screening's audience giggle.

But, for me, these uncomfortable moments sit like black coffee on an empty stomach. It's not like col♛laborator Hideaki Anno can't do better – the writer's 1998 live-action experimental film 🌼Love & Pop is highly condemnatory of the deranged Japanese men who pay to date its naive high school protagonists.

That movie has plenty of intimate shots of its young female characters – the camera often swoops under their uniform skirts, or glares at their bare legs – but its context is critical, not blissfully unrelated like GQuuuuuuX. In Love & Pop, teen girls are surrounded by star꧑ing eyes, unwanted hands, stinking hot breath at the back of their necks. So, even the camera becomes part of the frenz🔥y, suggesting that the vulnerable girls are always seen as sexual, even when they're alone, even when they're afraid. But in the unrelated GQuuuuuuX, getting a glimpse of Machu's undies or bare shoulders turns her body into a spectator sport.

Machu deserves better, as do incoming fans of Mobile Suit𓃲 Gundam GQuuuuuuX's otherwise refreshing take on the franchise. I left the film wondering, why do robots deserve more respect than a girl?

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The Gundam live-action movie has rece﷽ived a very positive update, as co-production has begun.

Bandai Namco revealed the news, sharing that Dune's production company Legendary would be officially co-financing the film with Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc. The movie is tentatively titled GUNDAM for🐽 now.

Mobile Suit Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, is a robot (or mecha) anime that first aired back in 1979, and now comprises 25 series🐈, a massive 34 movies, and much more besides, including OVAs, TV specials, manga, video games, and novels. But, the franchise has never had a live-action movie before now. While it's not currently clear what story the movie will be telling, there's clearly no shortage of source material.

A first look at the project was also unveiled via a poster, which you can see below. It doesn't give much away, but it does have a pretty cosmic vibe. Sweet Tooth's Jimﷺ Mickle is directing and writing, with𒆙 a theatrical worldwide release planned.

from

A movie was first announced back in 2018, and by 2021 it was intended for Netflix with Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing. However, Mickle joined the projeꦐct as director in 2024 and by then Netflix was no longer involved, though Legendary has remained attached.

As for Dune, it sounds like director Denis Villeneuve will be returning to Arrakis soon for Dune 3. "I was expecting to do something else before, but frankly, that's the inspiration that came to my mind as I took a break this summer and was going back and finishing the story," 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:he said recently. "I was really moved by the way Part Two was received by ci💎nephiles around the world, and I felt an appetite and a desire to see more and a responsibility to finish that story."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The Witcher's Doug Cockle may be swapping the fantasy series' video game universe for the Netflix one in upcoming anime film ♒Sirens of the Deep, but that doesn't mean he had to adapt his portrayal of Geralt t🌞o be more in line with Henry Cavill or the surrounding cast.

"I don't think there was anything pa🍒rticularly new about [this] Geralt. The writers were really good about keeping him familiar. I think if he wasn't, that would be a problem," Cockle told GamesRadar+ of Sirens of the Deep, which also features the voices of Jaskier actor Joey Batey and Yennefer actor Anya Chalotra.

"I've been voicing Geralt since 2005, so I don't think he has any surprises in store for me. If he does, [The Witcher author] Andrzej Sapkowski is going ﷺto have to write them."

Sirens of the Deep – which is set between the fifth and sixt🌳h episodes of The Witcher season 1 – does see Geralt and Doug Cockle head into uncharted waters in some respects, however.

As The White Wolf finds himself caught in the middle of a brew𒁃ing war between merpeople and humans, he has to either let his sword do the talking or, in this case, a new language.

"One of the things that was really fun about recorඣding Sirens of the Deep is the merspeak, which I found really challenging," Cockle reveals. "If anything, that's a new facet to [Geralt] that we didn't know about… He does try his hand at merspeak and me doing it, me performing, it was really hard."

But Cockle remains clear: the Geralt in Sirens of the Deep, Netflix universe or otherwise, is ultimately in line with the one he has played across several game titles and, presumably, will do so again in the future in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Witcher 4.

"I 🅠had to bring Geralt," Cockle says. "When I was asked to do it, they didn't say, 'Can you make this change?' I just broug♕ht my Geralt to the table… Watching the [film] myself, I thought, 'This is my Geralt.'"

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is streaming on Netflix from February 11. For more from Cockle, read what he has to say about 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Liam Hemsworth's imminent🤡 arriꦇval as Geralt in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Witcher season 4. Then be sure to dive into our picks for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best Netflix anime.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, the new feature-length anime set to drop on Netflix on February 11, is set to do 🌠something the live-action series has never dared to attempt: adapt 'A Little Sacrifice', one of Andrzej Sapkowski's most ambitious short stories in the franchise.

According to showrunner Lauren Hissrich and Sirens of the Deep co-writer Rae Benjamin, there's a perfectly logical reason why they've waited to tell the tale in 2D. "We didn't want to cheap out," stresses Hissrich in the new issue of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:SFX magazine, which features Daredevil: Born Again on the cover and hits newsstands on January 29. "Water is death, you know?" she adds. Well, no൲t everyone can be James Cameron now, can they?

Directed by Kang Hei Chul, Sirens of the Deep takes place between episodes 5 and 6 of the main show and sees Ge🦂ralt of Rivia hired to investigate a series of violent attacks that have spooked the residents of a small coastal village. Later, he finds himself having to stop a centuries-old conflict between humans and under-the-sea folk from turning into an all-out war. Doug Cockle, Joey Batey, Christina Wren, and Anya Chalotra star.

Inviting audiences into a fully conceived merworld, inhabited by merpeople who speak their own mer language, is a tall order, and the team behind The Witcher's latest offerꦿing saw it as an opportunity to push the limits on 𒀰what we've seen of The Witcher world before.

"Being that this was animated," says Benjamin, "we took full advantage of making these merpeople feel different. They're not your traditional depiction of mermaids – you know, a human-looking person with a tail. We wanted to make something that you haven't necessarily seen in other movies🐼 and TV shows, and really make it as heightened as possible. There aren't any budget coꦗnstraints, there aren't any visual effects constraints. We wanted to dive into that world and make it as unique as possible."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> By the time we catch up with Geralt (Doug Cockle) in The Witcher's new anime film Sirens of the Deep, he's on the outs with Yennefer (Anya Chalotra). No, their on-again/off-again romance hasn't hit another road bump. Instead, the upcoming an🐻imated affair takes place between episodes five and six of the first season of The Witcher on Netflix when the pair were on the outs after a series𝔍 of tempestuous meetings across the years.

With uncharted territory, then, comes a brand new companion for Geralt to potentially warm up to. Enter Essi Daven (Christina Wren), an old friend of Jaskier (Joey Batey) who ends up by The 🦂White Wolf's side as he finds himself entangled in a brewing war between humans and merpeople.

Essi is described as "bubbly, bright, and very extroverted" by co-writer Rae Benjamin in the new issue of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:SFX magazine, which features 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Daredevil: Born Again on the cover and hits newsstands on January 29, the complete opposite of Yen's "broodi🎃ng and tortured" demeanor.

For fellow writer Mike Ostrowski, she represents "the road not taken", someone who "on its face, makes more sense t🀅han Yen."

While The Witcher executive producer Lauren Hissrich said the mainline show made the decision that "Geralt would never really stray from🐼 Yen again" after the first season, she points to Geralt's wandering adventures in Sapkowski's books🌺 as a rich vein of storytelling still to mine.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The Colors Within is full of the same soft, pink harmony that a rosebud exudes while opening – in its initial scenes, there is a flower on the chapel floor, and then we watch a girl's braids as she talks to God. In just these seconds, as protagonist Totsuko prays for peace, I knew that A Silent Voice director Naoko Yamada's latest film was about to become one of ﷽my favorites, but I couldn't have predicted how sunnily it refreshes the retread t🌳opic of coming-of-age.

In hindsight, I should have. The movie, which is out now, is as sweetly𝐆 original as the gum-wrappered insides of a high school student's locꦚker; Catholic school girl Totsuko doesn't quite have synesthesia, but she sees people's colorful auras. Kind, spiritual, and a little bit of a dummy, Totsuko is lost until she starts a band with her blue-green friends Kimi and Rui, a "music otaku," Yamada said through a translator at The Colors Within's New York premiere, who happens to play the theremin – teen stuff.

"There's really no name for why [Totsuko] is this way," Yamada tells us through a translator during an interview conducted ahead of the Animation is Film Festival in October 2024. "It's really just how she sees the world, and how she relates to other people. [...] I was hoping it would be an opening into helping audiences realize something about themselves, like, 'Oh, when I talk to people, this is where I get this feeling.'"

Watching The Colors Within, I was moved by how much I related to Totsuko in unpredictably tiny ways. Like the protagonist, who bounces around with hair rendered wheat-gold by Yamada's pastel-colored brush, I was raised Christian, with an emphasis on expression and feeling God in your heart. Totsuko and I both sing and pray for the orbit of the planets, ice cream, and even✱ the snowfall sway of Gisele, a ballet I love that I was surprised to discover Totsuko loves, too.

This is the p🎐ower of specificity. Though many coming-of-age movies strive for universal relatability with blanket facts – gym class, mean dad, best friends – I found The Colors Within so emotional because its characters couldn't be mistaken for anyone else.

"With an original [film]," Yamada, who's worked extensively on manga adaptations like K-On!, explains to us, "I ha💝ve to create something from scratch, be the biggest fan of it myself, and then make it. [It's a] big hurdle, because if I start to think, 'Oh no, of course it's not going to be interesting, because it came from me,' there's no way I could sell it to my staff. So I think I put in a lot of effort into [...] looking at myself objectively."

Though it's perhaps an unintended byproduct of her process, 🎉Yamada's characters in The Colors Within strive for confidence in a simil♛ar way to what she describes. At the film's New York Japan Society premiere this week, Yamada said she wanted the film to embody "the courage to say, 'This is what I like.'"

That kind of clarity can be difficult or embarrassing for anyone, but especially for The Color Within's awkward protagonists. Though the music they play – composed by DanDaDan soundtrack creator Kensuke Ushio – has so much sparkly spirit, Totsuko, Kimi, and Rui hesitate to tell anyone about their band practices out of fear of punishment or judgement. Even so, "Having a secret was really important" to the trio, Yamada said𒁃, "because to have the courage to reveal that secret was a really important step in the characters' lives."

In their own shy way, the teenagers eventually learn to form their identities like seaglass, bright little fingers of patience, resilience, and surrender. And, by reminding me of my adolescent self – who I still carry with me like a shiny, holy p൩enny – The Colors Within 𓂃imbued me with resilience, too.

I never expected it would; coming-of-age movies are ubiquitous, and though I love similarly girly anim♉e series like Nana, I so rarely feel understood by a genre overrun with super samurai and caricatures of women.

But my childhood is as true as it was confusing. Remembering it, and the potential I fel♊t life had then, through Totsuko was motivation I didn't know I nee𒁃ded to stay hopeful as a sleepy adult.

"Ad🌜olecense is a time when both your heart and your body are not fully grown, so there's so much possibility." Yamada said in New York. "And I think that's really beautiful."

See The Colors Within in theaters starting January 24, then unwind with the 25 anime series you should be watching in 2025.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Doug Cockle, who has portrayed Geralt in The Witcher video game series and the upcoming Netflix anime Sirens of the Deep, has revealed his excitement over incoming actor Liam Hemsworth stepping into the well-worn boots of The White Wolf in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Witcher season 4.

"He's great in all t🌠hose action films that he's done, isn't he? He is wonderful. So I think he'll bring all that to it," Cockle tells GamesRadar+ of Hemsworth, who has appeared in the likes of The Expendables and The Hunger Games franchises.

"We'll see what he brings to the table. He's a good actor🦄, so I'm really excited ﷺto see what he brings."

Cockle, who is about to mark 20 years of voicing Geralt, is in the dark as much of the rest of us when it comes to Liam Hemsworth's debut in Netflix's The Witcher. Yet, his boundless experience means he knows exactly what a good Geralt, new or o🎶ld, should bring to the table – and it's something previous incumbent Henry Cavill had in spades.

"I think what Henry and I brought to the role was that slight dour[ness] – I call him a reluctant hero," Cockle ex❀plains.

"It's that quality I think is most important to bring to the character of Geralt, because that's what he does. He's 🔯not a b🌱ad guy; he's not necessarily a good guy. He always wants to remain neutral, but he keeps finding himself in these situations where he has to make a decision when faced with a moral dilemma."

Cockle continues, "Sometimes these decisions turn out okay, sometimes they don't. So I think that reluctant heroism is the most important q😼uality to bring to the character of Geralt. But that can take many different shapes. Henry's version of that was different from mine, but very similar."

Liam Hemsworth 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:took over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, who departed The Witcher after three seasons. Hemsworth is set to portray The White Wolf in the final two seasons of The Witcher, with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:a first look at his take on the character released last year.

Cockle is next set to appear as Geralt in The Witcher: Sirens of th📖e Deep, a standalone animated movie based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story A Little Sacrifice and set partway through the events of the first season of Netflix's The Witcher.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is streaming on Net📖flix from February 11.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Japanese artist Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, a longtime collaborator of anime director Makoཧto Shinkai (Your Name, Suzume) has revealed the first trailer for his next flick A New Dawn – and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

The 30-second clip, which you can watch below, opens with beautiful watercolor painting-like landscapes of trees and a house in the middle of nature. We then get a glimpse of the two central characters as one says, "Our reunion brought back the fireworks," to which the other replies, "I wonder if we could make something🍃 like this still exist."

The teaser ends with some beautiful undeꦺrwater clips, abruptly ended by an alarm clock. Could it have all been a dream?

Loos🉐ely inspired by the fast-changing Japanese after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, A New Dawn follows three characters and their connection to the Taitou Fireworks factory.

The official synopsis reads: "A fireworks factory located in a lush forest is being forced to vacate due to town redevelopment. Keitaro Tateto has been barricaded there for four years, immersing hi💯mself in making fireworks in order to complete the phantom fireworks, Shuhari. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Kaoru lives in Tokyo." But as Kaoru visits the Tateto family, "the two meet again and hatch a surprising plan to uncover the secret of the lost fireworks."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Previously, the first 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie was listed as a 2025 release. Now, multiple new leaked listings have narrowed down the window consid๊erably – but we'll still have more than a few months to wait until Tanjiro's final battle begins on the big screen.

Sony Pictures' French website listed an ‘Untitled Sony/Crunchyroll/Aniplex event film’ fo💯r September 17, 2025, an entry that has since been removed. Additionally, a German cinema chain (H/T ) also🍌 took down mention of Infinity Castle being released in the country on September 25, 2025.

So, is this the Infinity Castle release date we've been (im)patiently waiting for? With apologies to other 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime releasing this year, nothing quite matches the 'event film' label quite like Infinitꦏy Castle. Anime getting a staggered release in multiple regions is also nothing new, and lends crede♍nce to September being the destination for Demon Slayer's endgame. Fingers crossed we get an official confirmation shortly.

An adaptation of one of the final arcs ♛in Koyoharu Gotouge's acclaimed manga, the upcoming movie trilogy sees Tanjiro and the elite Hashira demon slayers drawn into the shadowy 'Infinity Castle', home to a selection of the world's most fearsome 'Upper Rank' demons – including series Big Bad Muzan Kibutsuji.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Jujutsu Kaisen's compilation movie – which combines the second season's prequel Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc꧃s into one feature-length package – has received a 2025🦄 release date.

As revealed at Jump Festa 2025 (H/T AnimeCorner), the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death movie is coming to Japanese cinemas on May 30. A western release date hasn't yet been revealed, but we would expec൩t more news on that within the next few months.

The feature is expected to bring together the first ꦫfive episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, an arc which dived further into the past and recounts Gojo and Geto's time as sorcerers-in-training at Jujutsu High.

A new visual for the project has also been released, which sees one-time friends and sorcerers Gojo and Geto looking carefree and standing back to back – a far cry from what would eventually happeꦬn between the pair.

The anime event also unveiled a key visual for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, which is set to adapt the manga's Culling Games arc. In it, protagonist Yuji Itadori is see👍n clutchin꧅g a blood-red hand while being framed by a window. 30. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Makoto running and crying in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

(Image credit: TO🥃KIKAKE☂ Film Partners/Platform Entertainment)

Year: 2006
Director: Mamoru Hosoda

Kicking off this list is The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, a Groundhog Day-style time loop adᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚventure that sees teenager Makoto bestowed with the ability to reset time – seconds before being hit by a train. While her first attempts to 'time leap' are cheap and unnecessary, Makoto's discovery that her powers are finite soon turn the movie into a faintly tragic tale that mirrors Steins;Gate's and its heroes' inability to avert disaster.

Bundled with a strong love story and endearing protagonist, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, ironically, feels likꦿe a movie that is caught in a temporal limbo. The 2006 release missed out on the late '90s and early '00s wave of renewed interest in anime, while it would have un🐬doubtedly been a wider success if it were released today. Maybe it's time to seek it out for yourself and experience this anime-hidden gem.

29. Jujutsu Kaisen 0

Year: 2021
Director: Sunghoo Park

Prequels, by their very nature, can be predictable and meandering affairs. Thankfull♒y, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is more in line with Better Call Saul in terms of how it approaches things, taking prominent characters – in this case, sorcerers Goto and Geto – and enriching their stories to deliver a beautifully-told chapter through the lens of shy sorcerer-in-training, Yuta.

Being based on a popular ongoing anime, it's of little surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 cut through in the (relative) mainstream when it was released in cinemas, grossing almost $200m at the box office. Its style and flair are obvious highlights, though the accessibility of the hoཧrror-tinged prequel to newcomers should not go overlooked. Jujutsu Kaisen has plenty more to come, but it might never be better than this standalone prequel.

28. The First Slam Dunk

(Image credit: Toei Animation and DandeLion Animat🍬♏ion)

Year: 2022
Director: Takehiko Inoue

Remixing the finale of an anime and manga series that hasn't been seen since the mid-'90s doesn't exactly seem like, well, a slam dunk. But, against all the odds, The First Slam Dunk is a Last Dance-style success story. The feature film, which grossed almost $280 mܫillion worldwide, takes the series' final match – between Shohoku and Sannoh high schools – and gives it the big-budget treatment, making every rebound, foul, and shot feel extra impactful with its fluid animation.

But The First Slam Dunk's greatest triumph is in how it treatsღ point guard Miyagi. Readers and viewers of the orig🐠inal story will still have some affinity with the player. Still, the 2022 movie goes further, unpicking his motivations for the sport from his first steps onto the court through to the final buzzer.

27. In This Corner of the World

Year: 2016
Director: Sunao Katabuchi

Unfortunately for Hiroshima, its lasting image is one of destruction. In This Corner of the World, thou🍷gh, opts for the path less traveled by opening up the more personal side of its culture and citizens in the lead-up to August 🎐6, 1945. Japan has long made incredibly poignant art out of the gaping trauma of World War Two's nuclear attacks, but few are as heart-wrenching or as unflinching in their portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground impact on its people.

As newly-married Suzu settles into her new life just outside the town of Hiroshima, she soon encounters the disrupting nature of warꦜtime measures. Of course, viewers will be acutely aware of the irony of the town's initial grumbles, but few will be ready for the wave of violence and destruction to come. In This Corner of the World culminates in a series of sadly predictable events that, though immensely sad, blossoms into something surprisingly touching against all the odds – and stands as a lasting testament to the power of anime and the secret stories it can tell.

26. Violet Evergarden: The Movie

Violet Evergarden holding a parasol in front of Gilbert

Year: 2020
Director: Taichi Ishidate

The sequel movie to Netflix's Violet Evergarden rounds out the story of Violet, an ex-soldier who later finds a career as an Auto Memory Doll. In the job (and in the mainline seriꦓes), she spends her days finding ways to help others find connection through letter-writing. The movie, though, flips the script and allows her to finally discover the meaning of the words 'I love you'.

Kicking off with a clever framing device that pays tribute to the episodes that preceded it, Violet Evergarden: The Movie soon charts its own path as Violet goes off to find her one-time superior Gilbert, a man she previously had thought to have been dead and the subject of some serious complicated feelings. For some, Violet 🧸Evergarden can be overly sentimental and saccharine, but the movie reins in a little to pay off its overarching story in satisfying fashion – with one of anime's great reunions thrown in for good measure.

Violet Evergarden forms part of our collection of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime on Netflix.

Belle covered in flowers in the virtual world

Year: 2021
Director: Mamoru Hosoda

The past decade of anime has been largely dominated by sporadic Studio Ghibli releases and the works of Makoto Shinkai. Belle, then, comes crashing in relativel💮y out of nowhere and♎ takes its lead Suzu on a whirlwind journey from an angry, lonely teenager to a virtual pop idol, the likes of which would make even hardcore Swifties sit up and take notice.

Laced with big, poppy energy and maximalist visuals, Belle undercuts the loud, vibrant virtual world of 'U' with a darker twist as an ultra-powerful user named Beast (yes, this is a twisted Beauty and the Beast pastiche) crashes the fantasy. From there, director Mamoru Hosoda skilfully uses Belle's plight to hold up a mirror to a contemporary world held in the grip of social media, the new age of celebrity, and – in something that feels even more prescient ♈today – the anonymous anger of faceless personas.

24. Patlabor 2

A UN soldier in a Patlabor robot during Patlabor 2

Year: 1993
Director: Mamoru Oshii

Where the original Patlabor 🦩is more of a by-the-numbers mech action flick, its 1993 sequel unspools into a tense political thriller that makes good on the potential of its universe (here, Tokyo's police force use 'Patlabors', or Patrol Labors, to keep the peace).

Patlabor 2, then, coolly meshes the rip-roaring action of the first movie with a more introspective, historical bent as a terrorist attack cripples Tokyo. Its critiques on Japanese's softening military might be lost on a portion of its audience, but it acts as the perfect gateway into a sci-fi world that isn't afraid to go t𓄧he blockbuster route to communicate big ideas, in much🐟 the same way some of the 21st Century's great directors – Nolan, Villenueve, to name but a few – would grasp a few years later.

23. Haikyu: The Dumpster Battle

Hinata and Kenma facing off in the Karasuno vs. Nekoma volleyball match in the Haikyu: The Dumpster Battle movie

(Imag🌄e credit: ©2024”HAIK💃YU!!”Project ©H.Furudate / Shueisha)

Year: 2024
Director: Susumu Mitsunaka

There were sports crowd-like whistles of derision when it was announced that Haikyu would be ending its volleyball saga with two movies instead of finishing up with the anime se༺ries. Those fears were misplaced. The Dumpster Battle – the latest installment in the eternal rivalry between schools Karasuno and Nekoma – is able to take center stage on the most worthy of courts: the big screen.

With standout animation from Production I.G. that exceeds even the studio's lofty standards, The Dumpst𓄧er Battle serves up a pulsating match-up between the two teams as middle blocker Hinata aims to surpass his hero, the 'Little Giant'. Sports anime has, arguably, never reached the heights of the first 🉐Haikyu movie – and we're locked in for whenever Hinata's journey comes to an end in the near future.

22. Look Back

Fujino and Kyomoto eating in Look Back

Year: 2024
Director: Kiyotaka Oshiyama

The most recent entry on this list, Look Back is a pitch-perfect adaptation of a one-shot manga from Chainsaw Man's Tatsuki Fujimoto. But where Chainsaw Man is all gore, cinematic aspirations, and kinetic actio🦩n, Look Back is a slower, more methodical commentary on art and loss. What begins as a childhood obsession for Fujino as she scribbles panels for her school newspaper's manga soon unravels into fiercely one-sided rivalry with shut-in classmate Kyomoto. From there, a surprise kinship blooms between the pair.

Brought together🌼 by their love of drawing, the beautifully-depicted friendship is a triumph of connection, one that suddenly comes crashing down after tragic circumstances inspired by real-world events. At once a wistful, nostalgic piece and a forward-thinking, crushing meditation on the impact of art, Look Back is an instant classic – and audiences may look even more favorably on it in the years to come.

Look Back stands tall in our ranking of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:2024's best movies.

21. Cowboy Bebop The Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

Year: 2001
Director: Shinichirō Watanabe

You may have at least heard of Cowboy Bebop, the sci-fi series that blends tog෴ether jazz, an eclectic ensemble cast, and a gal🦂axy's worth of space bandits to craft what is – for many – the best anime series ever made. You may be less familiar with its later feature-length adventure, however.

Slightly awkwardly wedged into the events of the main series so as to not break canon, Knockin' on Heaven's Door s🌊ees the motley crew of Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed, and ❀Ein on the hunt for a biological terrorist. In truth, it doesn't deviate too much from Bebop's typical winning formula, but its greatest strengths – the action, the effortlessly cool vibes – are writ large here. If you can spare a few Woolongs, it's absolutely worth dipping into Cowboy Bebop The Movie for a big-screen bounty like no other.

Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirō Watanabe says his forthcoming anime Lazarus 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:is his masterpiece.

20. Metropolis

Rock next to a damaged Tima in 2001's Metropolis

(Image credit: Bandai Visual/Toho Co. Ltd)

Year: 2001
Director: Rintaro

While its connections to the 1927 Fritz Lang trailblazer are loose (and, if you believe the 🅘author of the 1949 manga on which the 2001 movie is based, entirely coincidental) Metropolis similarly helped pave the way for anime with a dazzling film that stood out as one of the 21st Century's first essential anime movies. Its biggest success? Laying down a stylistic blueprint for an industry that would soon look to the far-flung future for commentary on its present moment.

In many ways, Metropolis works off the same hymn sheet as Akira: a downtrodden future megacity, people ruled with an iron fist, and coursing with a rebellious streak. What makes the Rintaro-directed effort stand out, howev♋er, is its personal touch. Faced with a dictator father who has grand schemes to overt🌊hrow the planet using a weapon designed to look like his deceased daughter, his adopted son Rock battles to reclaim what's his in a pulsating blockbuster. It all culminates in one of anime's most striking scenes, a Ray Charles-backed sequence as the city crumbles – an electric ending to a modern-day masterpiece.

19. Tokyo Godfathers

Gin, Hana, and Miyuki holding a baby in Tokyo Godfathers

(Image credit: Satoshi Kon, Mad House ꦐand Tokyo Godfathers Committee)

Year: 2003
Director: Satoshi Kon

The first Satoshi Kon feature to appear on this list, Tokyo Godfathers is perhap🔴s the most restrained of the director's body of work, one that was cruelly cut short by his death in 2010 at age 42. Despite that, the madcap premise (three homeless people – a transgender woman, an alcoholic, and a teenager who has run away from home – adopt an abandoned 🌼baby) and its Christmassy spirit ensures it will live long in the memory.

While the story takes its cues from 1948's 3 Godfathers, the festive energy and Kon's🎉 ever-keen eye for human expression makes it wholly unique as the trio's Christmas Eve adventure sees them crossing paths with hitmen and attending wedding receptions in a last-gasp dash to ⛦find the baby's parents. It's not quite It's A Wonderful Life, but its motley crew of leads will give you the same warm, fuzzy feeling of everything being right with the world by its end.

Still in a festive mood? Here are our picks for the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best Christmas movies.

18. Ponyo

Ponyo swimming out of the sea with her sisters

Year: 2008
Director: Hayao Miyazaki

In some circles, Ponyo comes bundled with an unfair reputation as a Studio 🌌Ghibli movie aimed at a much younger audience. While the storybook visuals and focus on the wacky adventures of a goldfish named Ponyo and young boy Sosuke might give that impression, this Little Mermaid-style story of a girl wanting to walk on land as a human deserves to be held aloft alongside many🍌 of the studio's other revered works.

Boasting a wonderfully impish ener♛gy and director Hayao Miyazaki's eye for making the mundane into something magical (in this case, a boy-meets-girl story on a coasta🦩l town), Ponyo is a joyous aquatic exploration of friendship and first loves, one that might leave a watery tear in your eye by its end.

17. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train

Year: 2020
Director: Haruo Sotozaki

Fun fact: Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is not only 2020's highest-grossing movie (besting Tenet), but is the highest-grossing anime movie of all time, raking in a cool $500 million at the box office. It certainly deserves to hold that record. Following directly on from the first season of the smash shonen anime, wannabe demon slayer Tanjiro, his sister Nezuko, and his friends – the hot-headed Inosuke and erratic Zenitsu – board a train that is infested by a member of the Upper Ranks, a collection of powerful demꦐons.

Aided by Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, Tanjiro slithers his way through to the front of the train. What begins as a low-key introspection of its characters soon explodes into a cacophony of sound and fury, as animation studio Ufotable showcases its world-class talents with a series of unmissable fight scenes, tinged with just the right amount of gut-wrenching emotion to make this big-budget affair a bon𝄹afide smash – and one that anime series have been trying to mimic in theaters ever since.

16. When Marnie Was There

Marnie and Anna rowing across the marshes in When Marnie Was There

Year: 2014
Director: Hiromasa Yonebayashi

A rare Ghibli directorial effort from Hiromasa Yonebayasi, When Marnie Was There sees sickly 12-year-old Anna sent to live in a quaint seaside community after an asthma attack. While there, she discovers a mysterious mansion across the marshes and one of its residents – the titular Marnie. What follows is a journey sprinkled with self-discovery and the pꦦower of memories as the pair bond. It all culminates in an emotionally cha♒rged and cathartic ending, one that feels like the happy antithesis of something like Grave of the Fireflies.

When Marnie Was There can make a compelling case for being the most underrated and underappreciated Studio Ghibli movie of all time. Simply put, few can ensnare its audience with such a potent blend of melancho✱ly, drama, and nostalgia; fewer still can execute it with a painterly panache that allo♓ws it to stand alongside anime's greats, Ghibli or otherwise.

15. Wolf Children

Hana carrying one of her children on her back while preparing food in Wolf Children

Year: 2012
Director: Mamoru Hosoda

Alongside Grave of the Fireflies – which we'll meet shortly in this list – Wolf Children stands out as shorthand for anime's power ﷽to emotionally devastate its audience.

While the premise – a woman struggling with raising her half-wolf children as a newly widowed mother – might raise eyebrows, Wolf Children soon rips out your heart as the mother, Hana, battles her children's primal instincts in𝓰 this coming-of-age story with a twist. Whether you're a parent or not, few anime movies will resonate quite as strongly and leave as hard a lump in your throat as this 2012 feature.

14. Ghost in the Shell

The Major wearing a tank top in Ghost in the Shell

(Image credit: Masamune Shirow/Kodansha Ltd./Bandai Visual Co. Ltd/Manga Entertainme♒nt Ltd.)

Year: 1995
Director: Mamoru Oshii

Ghost in the Shell's cultural cache has diminished somewhat in recent years, but its quality still shines through today. The 1995 movie follows Motoko, a synthesized and augmented human working for Public Security who is suddenly hot on the trail of the mysterious Puppet Master. What comes next is one of the quin෴tessential cyberpunk stories, a thriller that digs deep into themes of identity, self-worth, and the looming specter of technology.

Boasting trippy visuals and a haunting philosophical message, there's a reason why Ghost in the Shell has proved so influential – and spawned several sequels, spin-offs, and an ill-fated live-actio🎐n movie starring Scarlett Johansson. Still, the original is easily the best, an early pioneer that stands out ♐as essential viewing and an anime classic.

Not every sci-fi classic spawned a franchise. Here are the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:32 sci-fi movies that deserved a sequel.

13. Porco Rosso

Porco Rosso struggling to fly his plane

Year: 1992
Director: Hayao Miyazaki

"Better to be a pig than a fascist." If you only discovered Studio Ghibli through the lens of twee and whimsical adventures, Porco Rosso is going to be a sudden shock to the system. T💝he 1992 adventure combines the fantastical elements of the by-this-point legendary animation studio with director Hayao Miyazaki's masterful eye for aviation. Here, ex-war pilot Porco Rosso (voiced by Michael Keaton in a remastered dub) tackles the onrushing wave of fascism sweeping Italy in the late 1920s, as well as Porco's own survivor's guilt –𒁃 most memorably depicted in an 'airplane graveyard' sequence that stands out as one of Ghibli's finest, most striking sequences.

Despite the heavy subject matter, Porco Rosso is wickedly funny and grounds itself in the sort of charm, p♋ersonality, and sass of old-school adventure movies, which allows it to soar further than most of Ghibli's efforts. It's a rip-roaring, bombastic flight for the ages and one that, most importantly, wears its political heart on its sleeve.

12. Suzume

Suzume looking down and shocked at what she sees from her window

Year: 2022
Director: Makoto Shinkai

Despite being a shade less accomplished than his other major works, Weathering With You and❀ Your Name, director Makoto Shinkai solidifies himself as a true anime great with Suzume, a coming-of-age tale that sees the titular teenager drawn into a grand road trip odyssey across Japan. After mysterious doors pop up across the country to cause ecological disasters, Suzume is soon whisked away on an adventure to save the d๊ay with experienced (door) 'closer' Souta – who is hamstrung by the most peculiar of circumstances after being turned into a three-legged chair. Hey, we've all been there.

Showcasing Shinkai's ability to mix personal stakes with world-ending scenarios, Suzume breezily hurtles towards its final act, a surprisingly emotional bump in the road as her own family tragedy intertwines with the very re🅷al disaster – known as 3.11 – that hit Japan in 2011. It's to Shinkai's credit that Suzume might not even crack his top two; even so, Suzume is a work that shouldn't be ignored.

11. Weathering With You

Hina performing her sunshine girl routine in Weathering With You

Year: 2019
Director: Makoto Shinkai

Following up on a work as esteemed as Your Name is an une🐓nviable task, but director Makoto Shinkai delivered on the heavy weight of expectation. Weathering With You may follow similar beats in its supernatural love story, but it soon twists into a city-spanning tale that will leave you in floods of tears and send your heart soaring. Weathering With You follows Hodaka, a teenage runaway who flees to Tokyo.

While there, he crosses paths with 'sunshine girl' Hina, who can seemingly influence the weather. In need of money, the pair team up to offe🐷r out Hina's services – a decision that comes at a terrible cost. Yes, it may not live up to the impossible heights of Your Name, but Weathering With You is an exceptional movie in its own right, one that improves on the director's previous classic in terms of presenting a more mature central relationship, if not quite having as satisfying a payoff.

10. The End of Evangelion

A giant face of Rei during the Third Impact in End of Evangelion

(Image credit: Eva Committee/Kadokaw🥀a Shot🐟en/Project Eva)

Year: 1997
Director: Hideaki Anno, Kazuya Tsurumaki

Neon Genesis Evangelion, famously, crashed against the very confines of the television medium to craft a controversial finale that brought teen Shinji's story to a close with an experimental blend of ennui, back-slapping, and me﷽ch action. Whatever their good intentions may have been, it was clear that time, budget, and audiences' patience were running thin. The End of Evangelion, then, is a welcome do-over. As Shinji fights to stop the apocalyptic Third Impact from taking place, he is thrust into the end of all things – here visualized through 𒁏a nightmarish menagerie of towering robots and world-dwarfing protagonists.

While it doesn't𒈔 dig as deep into Shinji's psyche as the TV anime, it more than makes up for it with a bleak, oppressive final battle that ensures the series' flawed individuals don't escape unscathed. It's all topped off with a final sequence between Shinji and Asuka that speaks more to Neon Genesis Evangelion's cruel st💛reak than the sickly sweet 'congratulations' fanfare of the original.

Don't miss out on Evangelion's sprawling story with our look at how to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion in order.

9. Millennium Actress

Chiyoko holding an umbrella during a flashback in Millennium Actress

Year: 2001
Director: Satoshi Kon

If you want a case study on what anime can achieve compared to its live-action cousins, look no further than Millennium Actress. The late director Satoshi Kon takes up multiple spots on this list, but few are as imaginative and push the boundaries of the medium quite like this 2001 movie. Fꩵocusing on an actress long since retired, Millennium Actress takes a straightforward premise – a retrospective interview – and injects it with passion and purpose, as the actress Chiyoko drags both the documentary crew and the audience through her life story, from humble beginnings, to post-World War Two stardom, and through to its tragic end.

Millennium Actress is so much more than a personal tale, however.꧑ It's a love letter to cinema and Japanese history, a kinetic, singular vision masterfully guided by a director 🌳in Kon whose loss is still keenly felt, some 15 years after his passing.

8. My Neighbor Totoro

Satsuki and Mei standing in the rain at a bus stop next to a totoro in My Neighbor Totoro

Year: 1988
Director: Hayao Miyazaki

Think Studio Ghibli, then chances are you're probably thinking of My Neighbor Totoro. After all, there's a reason why the cat-like Totoro has endured as a cinematic icon for decades and its unforgettable cat bus scene has formed part of anime canon ever since its wheels started turning back in 1988. But what that iconograph꧅y doesn't reveal is what's hiding under the hood – a🎶nd the hidden corners of this magical animated world.

As Satsuki and younger sibling Mei struggle with their mother being cooped up in hospital, they each stray a little too far from their new home and soon encounter a hidden world filled w🦹ith spirits. What follows is an impossibly charming, childlike creation that takes director Hayao Miyazaki's bottomless well of imagination and fuses it with a storybook world filled with mischiev🧔ous soot sprites, glistening forests, and – at the center of it all – Totoro, a grinning cat. A towering anime that rightfully stands the test of time, it's a monument to not only Miyazaki and Ghibli's works, but its enduring charm means it continues to enrapture new generations of audiences, both young and old decades on.

7. Akira

Kaneda riding a motorcycle through Neo-Tokyo in Akira

Year: 1988
Director: Katsuhiro Otomo

Widely regarded as the most influential anime movie of all time, Akira has inspired the likes of Jordan Peel🐽e and Hideo Kojima, while the i🏅conic 'Akira slide' has been a pop culture mainstay ever since its release. But Akira is so much more than its imitators. A cyberpunk epic, the 1988 anime movie centres on Kaneda and his friend Tetsuo, who gains dangerous psychic abilities after an accident.

With the cold, hard edges of the wiry Neo-Tokyo as their backdrop🌄, the pair are soon drawn into a conspiracy involving the military, secret experiments, and the fate of the dystopian city itself. At face value, it's a compelling, fast-moving thriller but, look beyond that, and you'll see Akira for what it truly is: a legendary anime that stretches its tendrils across decades, shaping movies, TV shows, and video games long past its 'future' 2019 setting. Many have tried to copy Akira's fantastic fusion of style and metal; none have bettered it.

6. Grave of the Fireflies

Seita carrying Setsuko during Grave of the Fireflies

Year: 1988
Director: Isao Takahata

In many ways, Grave of the Fireflies is the antithesis of what Studio Ghibli is known for. Out goes the fantastical elements and breathtaking imagery in favor of a grounded, bleak story centered around orphans Seita and Setsuko and their battle to survive during the dyi🍰ng embers of World War Two. Placed in a bizarre double bill with My Neighbor Totoro upon its release – yes, really – Grave of the Fireflies' reputation as the ultimate day-ruining anime movie is well-earned.

Yet, it's so much more than its devastating set-up and crushing ending: Grave of the Fireflies, through its two leads, digs into the psyche of a nation still healing from the battle in t𓄧he Pacific and is staunchly, poetically anti-war as a result. It's a haunting (and hauntingly beautiful) tale that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. No, it's not what you might expect from Studio G♏hibli – but it's guaranteed to make you cry.

5. A Silent Voice

Shoko looking out of a train window in A Silent Voice

Year: 2016
Director: Naoko Yamada

There are only a handful of♈ movies that I love so much, yet never want to see again. One – Grave of the Fireflies – you've just met on this list. The other is A Silent Voice, a supremely confident and emotionally affecting debut fro𝄹m director Naoko Yamada. A shattering exploration of childhood bullying and its impact later in life, A Silent Voice revolves around Shōko, a deaf girl who is relentlessly harassed by her schoolmates – later to the point of suicidal ideation.

Yet, A Silent Voice isn't all about the bleak horrors of growing up. In a smart twist, the stor♍y moves hurriedly along to years later as one bully – since shunned by his peers – attempts to reconnect with Shōko. That's the simple set up for a genuinely life-affirming story (not something I say lightly) that preaches love, kindness, and connection over hate, anger, and rejection. You may never want to watch A Silent Voice again after your first watch, but you'll be glad you did.

4. Perfect Blue

Mima being confronted by her stalker's photos in Perfect Blue

Year: 1997
Director Satoshi Kon

Satoshi Kon's psychological masterpiece might be the best anime movie you've never seen. Perfect Blue is a disturbingly prescient film – and a perfect companion to Belle, a🅺nother entry on this list – that focuses on Mima, a popstar-ඣturned-actress who is relentlessly pursued by an obsessive fan and has her personal details listed on a website called 'Mima's Room'. A smothering, suffocating fever dream of a feature, Mima's journey soon sees her encounter "the real Mima", a ghoulish reflection of her past life.

Perfect Blue then unravels into a horror movie laced with punchy commentary on jealousy, self-identity, and overwhelming celebrity fandom. Arguably, it's even more relevant today than it was back in 1997. Never allowing Mima or its viewer time to settle, Perfect Blue also comes bundled with one of the most disturbing final reveals, one that's brilliant Lynchian in its final rug pull and rivals the likes of Inception for just how much it'll worm it👍self into your brain days,𓃲 months, and even years after you've first watched it.

3. Spirited Away

Shihiro with a dragon spirit in Spirited Away

Year: 2001
Director: Hayao Miyazaki

By every definition, Spirited Away is a juggernautꦜ. Grossing almost $400m at the box office, winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature (the first non-English film to do so), and widely seen as one of anime's most enduring achievements, this fantasy adventure is teeming with enough imagination for 10 movies – yet somehow finds a way to cram it all into a tight two-hour epic. Not that you would have guessed from Spirited Away's restrained opening, whi༒ch sees Chihiro – nervously on the way to her new home with her parents – stepping into a new world filled with monstrous pigs, mischievous gods and, at its centre, a bathhouse housing the great and not-so-great denizens of the spirit world.

Spirited Away then explodes into a carousel of color and chaos as Chihiro struggles to find her way home and to free her parents. Along the way, she (and viewers) are met with the iconic No-Face, a devious spirit who accompanies Chihiro partway through her journey. So, yes, Spiri♔ted Away is a giant of cinema – but that far-reaching legacy betrays the magi💛cal genius coursing through the veins of each frame and sequence in this anime all-timer.

2. Princess Mononoke

San in warpaint next to wolf Moro in Princess Mononoke

Year: 1997
Director: Hayao Miyazaki

Despite being pipped to top spot, Princess Mononoke is an undoubted all-time great. The Muromachi-era fantasy revolves around an onrushing evil, one that literally clings to protagonist Ashitaka's arm and never lets go after he defeats a demon in the opening act. From there, he heads west to Iron Town, a settlement of working women and lepers caught in a crossroads between its ruler's strong will and the oozing corruption of the land. That sets the stage for an epic that feels like peak Ghibli. Why? It refines some of the studio's previous environmentalist messages in works such as Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and delivers fearsoꩵme set piece after fearsome set piece, something that was only glimpsed in Porco Rosso.

If My Neighbor Totoro put Ghibli on the map, Princess Mononoke cemented it as a legendary collection of artists, storytellers, and creative visi🌌onaries. Princess Mononoke's greatest triumph, though, may be in how it influenced a new generation of stories. Everything from Avatar to The Legend of Zelda has been touched by Ashitaka's journey from ♐headstrong hero to aiding San and The Great Forest Spirit. It's also everything you could want from an anime movie – imaginative visuals, exceptional world-building, strong morals – all rolled into one action-filled package.

1. Your Name

Taki watching a comet streak over the sky in Tokyo during Your Name

(Image cr𝕴edit: TOHO CO., LTD. / CoMix Wave Films Inc. / KADO♚KAWA CORPORATION)

Year: 2016
Director: Makoto Shinkai

Your Name is our pick for the best anime movie of all time and, frankly, it's also one of the best movies of all time. Period. The 2016 classic revolves around, initially, the simplest of sci-fi premises: a city boy (Taki) and a rural girl (Mitsuha) switch bodies. Inevitably, hijinks ensue. But, around 20 minutes in, Your Name takes a turn from a light-hearted Freaky Friday-style adventure into something more powerful – transforming into♕ a tale that chisels away at the human condition and a pair of slightly damaged people caug🅠ht at the crossroads of fate, circumstance, and tragedy.

Director Makoto Shinkai, though, is the one who takes this into all-timer territory. Case in point, his innate ability to skilf𝄹ully bamboozle the viewer. Your Name's body-switching premise is filled with misdirects, but the entirety of the movie is littered with the sort of narrative rug-pulls and sleight of hands that are the resul🌼t of a master at work. M. Night Shyamalan, eat your heart out. The failed attempts to drag Your Name into live action – arguably the easiest Hollywood home run of all time if done correctly – would also indicate that this masterpiece is perfectly suited to its form.

The potent alchemy of Your Name, from its dazzling visuals as comets streak through the sky to the gentle soundtrack by Radwimps that punctuates the movie's most heartbreaking moments, is somethi🌜ng that can never truly be replicated. If you only watch one anime movie on this list, make it Your Name. It's something truly speci𓄧al.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> From The Animatrix to powerhouse Japanese studio Science Saru bringing us Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the tackling of Western intellectual properties by the anime industry☂ has proved fruitful over the last few decades – just look at how some of the most exciting Star Wars material of late has come from Star Wars: Visions. With The Lord of the Rings: The War ꦓof the Rohirrim, this merging of East and West talent and ideas gets its biggest platform to date.

It's a two-hour-plus feature given a wide theatrical release across the globe, conceived to fit within the continuity of Peter Jackson's live-action Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films (he's an executive producer on this), and directed by the prolific anime veteran Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand♔ Alone Complex), with various major Japanese animation houses credited as contributors to the project. But despite all its impressive credentials, this hopeful blockbuster sadly proves to be one of the more uninspired examples of an English-language property being given an anime makeover.

Although The War of the Rohirrim contains a neꦰw musical score from Stephen Gallagher, the familiar notes of Howard Shore's piece 'One Ring to Rule Them All' are among the first things we hear in the opening stage-setting of this new film, as the same title card font used for Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy returns to firmly place this movie in that specific universe – if you're more keen on The Rings of Power series, you may still find things to enjoy in this very different prequel to J. R. R. Tolkien's mainline novels. Also returning from the Jacksonverse is Mirando Otto as Éowyn, narrating proceedings as though the film's story is something she's telling to her children.

Back in time

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

Set nearly 200 years before the events of Jackson's first Middle-earth trilogy, The War of the Rohirrim presents us with Helm Hammerhand (voiced by Brian Cox), a king of Rohan whose name became legend. But the first person we're introduced to is Héra (Gaia Wise), the adult daughter of Helm, whose naꦍme, Éowyn tells us, was not passed down in historical records in the same way. A free spirᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚit often found wandering the wilderness, Héra is close with Olwyn (Lorraine Ashbourne), one of the last of the shieldmaidens of lore, and has no interest in plans for marriage that are not born out of love. If you have thought of Princess Merida from Pixar's Brave while reading this, Héra is very much in that character template, and possibly not coincidentally also host to long red hair.

FAST FACTS

Release date: 13 December, 2024
Available on: In theaters
Director: Kenji Kamiyama
Runtime: 2h 14m

A suitor for Héra is what sparks the film's main conflict, as Dunlending lord Freca (Shaun Dooley) attempts a political maneuver with Helm by proposing that Héra marry his son, Wulf (Luca Pasqualino), a former childhood friend of Héra with whom she would secretly train in sword fighting as a young girl. Things go awry during the tense meeting between the fathers, and following a tragic misjudgement, Wulf has vengeance and the seizing of power set firmly in his sights.

As the ruthless young lord gains dangerous allies and sets up𓆏 base at Isengard, Helm, his sons Hama (Yazdan Qafouri) and Haleth (Benjamin Wainwright), and his nephew Fréaláf (Laurenc💟e Ubong Williams) face additional challenges within their inner circle. Héra, meanwhile, must summon the will to lead as a shieldmaiden, as their deadly enemy forces the people of Rohan to take shelter in the stronghold of the Hornburg, a mighty fortress destined to be renamed and revisited for another siege in The Two Towers.

Fantasy lite

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

The War of the Rohirrim is an interesting case where a film's potential strengths directly feed into its failings. On the one hand, it's refreshing to get an ostensibly smaller-scale tale set in this universe, where the main antagonist is just a human rather than a magic-user or mythical creature. On the other hand, that this entry in a fantasy series is relatively light on fantastical elements – bar a few single-scene appearances of orcs and monsters, and one plot thread with a wraith – doesn't help to disguise the lack of flavor to this lethargically-paced story. The assembled voice cast gives it their all, but none of these char𒅌acters pop in a memorable way like even some of the supporting Rohirrim players from Jackson's films – shout out to Gamling in The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

A case 👍where a film's potential strengওths directly feed into its failings.

When it comes to the animation itself, there's a sense that design restrictions have been enforced, based on this film serving as a prequel to a set of hugely popular, undeniably iconic blockbusters. There is a recognizable anime flourish in the faces (though not too extreme), but perhaps so as not to alienate fans of Jackson's live-action films who aren't well-versed in anime, character models are otherwise designed to be as boilerplate as possible, with the humans often moving with a distractingly mechanical stiffness.

The few creatures on display fare a little better, with one memorable set piece involving an elephant-like mûmak in the woods being a rare moment where the film comes alive. But the spectacle potential for Tolkien filtered th💜rough an anime lens feels wasted, especially when compared to how wild and inventive🐈 the contributors to Star Wars: Visions get to make things.

Elsewhere, empty nods to later events – including Mordor orcs looking for rings – grate, while the dramatic way that the title 'Helm's Deep' is delivered hammers that this tale really is little more than an origin story for the name of a location in a much better movie. And one particular voice cameo from a deceased actor jars. Thankfully, their limited dialogue was reportedly pulled from archival material rather than digital resurrection through the dark magic of generative AI (if you don't mind spoilers, you can learn 𝓡more here). But going to that well for ultimately superfluous ends only aಞdds to this film's imbalance between honoring the past and forging a distinctive identity o♉f its own.

The Lord of tܫhe Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is out in UK cinemas aღnd US theaters on December 13.

It's been a painful wait to hear more about the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle arc since a movie trilogy 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:was first announced back in June. Thankfully, we now have a release window and a brand ne💝w trailer for the final chapter in Tanjiro's story.

As cꩵonfirmed durꦺing Demon Slayer's CCXP panel, the first of three movies will premiere exclusively in cinemas worldwide in 2025. A further release date hasn't yet been confirmed but, for now, we have an intriguing new trailer to tide us over (which you can see above).

In it, the anime's big bad Muzan Kibutsuji talks ominously about the meaning of eternity while viewers are offered up a brief recap-of-sorts. There, it recounts Tanjiro's explosive journey from fledgling demon slayer to being on the cusp of joining the Hashira in a thrilling b♕attle against Muzan and his Upper Rank demons. The Hashira Training season left off with the elite demon slayers being drawn into the titular Infinity Castle – where a final showdown awaits.

Following on from the Hashira Training arc, the trilogy 🌠of Infinity Castle♛ movies will likely adapt most, if not all, the Final Battle section of Koyoharu Gotouge's acclaimed manga to bring the main Demon Slayer saga to a close.

It seems, then, we're currently in an era of saying goodbye to some old favorites. Attack on Titan finished for good in 2023 (although it's been packaged into an 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Attack on Titan movie for release in the west next year). Meanwhile, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:My Hero Academia season 8 will be the show's last.

The synopsis for the movie teases: "After venturing beyond the walls and separated from his comrades, Eren finds himself inspired by this new truth and plots the 'Rumbling,' a t𝓡errifying plan to eradicate every living thing in the world. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Netflix continues to gro🎃w its Studio Ghibli collection with the arrival of a Hay𝓀ao Miyazaki documentary on December 6.

Titled Hayao Miyazaki and the 🍷Heron, the documentary – released earlier this year – follows the legendary director on his years-long journey to make The Boy and the Heron, an animated feature that would eventually net him his secondꦫ Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

The brief synopsis on Netflix reads, "Animation legend Hayao Miyazaki grapples with matters of mortality and creativity during his seven-year journey making The Boy and the Heron." Expect the US to miss out, though, given that the docum🐷entary is currently available on the Max streaming service.

Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki's legacy are intertwined, wit꧙h the director helming and writing multiple iconic projects at the studio, including🃏 My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away. Miyazaki even penned the scripts for Arietty and From Up on Poppy Hill, which was directed by his son Goro Miyazaki.

According to Goro during a talk at the Ghibli museum earlier this year, his father isn't done yet – and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:may even be working on another movie.

"I don'൲t know if it'll actually be for his next film, but it's looking like an action-adventure-type movie, nostalgic and reminiscent of the old days," Goro Miyazaki said (via and translated by ), leading some to believe it could be a sequel to 1984's Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Whether The Boy and the Heron is Miyazaki's final film or not, fans can rest assured that the vast majority of Studio Ghibli's library is available to subscribers outside of the US and Japan. Its most infamously upsetting feature, Grave of the Fireflies, was 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:made available earlier this year.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> The extended cut of the anime movie In Thi𝓰s Corner of the World is now streaming outside of Japan for the first time ever.

The longer version is titled In This Corner (And Other Corners) of the World, and it features 39 minutes of extr🃏a footage – which, remarkably, makes it the longest animated film ever made at a runtime of 168 minutes. The Sunao Katabuchi-directed wartime drama is avail❀able on anime streaming service .

In This Corner of the World revolves around a woman named Suzu who, in 1944, moves to a town just outsid𝐆e Hiroshima to live with her husband's family. Facing immense hardship and, unbeknownst to them, nuclear devastation, the movie is a touching portrayal of the strength of community amid unknowable horrors.

In Thꦑis Corner of the World was produced by Mappa, perhaps best known for its work on Attack on Titan but, at the time of its 2016 release, were still on the rise in the anime industry. The studio would go on to produce the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and 🤡the second season of Vinland Saga (for my money, one of the all-time great modern TV seasons).

Once you've watched (and been devastated by) In This Corner of the World, there's plenty more new anime to look forward to in the next year or so. Chief among them is 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Solo Leveling season 2 this January, plus 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:My Hero Academia season 8 and sci-fi Adult Swim series Lazarus. Fingers crossed, too, that we also hear more about 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:One-Punch Man season 3 and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle arc in 2025.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung has spoken about his take o꧂n the live-action adaptation of Your Name.

Your Name, released back in 2016, is considered one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime movies of all time (our own 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Your Name review gives𝓡 the movie the full 5 stars). Chung was set to helm a live-action remake in 2020, but departed the project in 202🅷1.

"That was a siꦓtuation in which I just loved all the people so much," Chung told .

"I like the animated film," he added, "but what I didn't realise is how hard it is to adapt a Japanese animated movie and to try to do that for America. That was the goal that Toho hadꦕ put before us. But it's really hard to do."

But, despite lots of hard work, it just didn't work out. "During the pandemic I worked on that script for many months," Chung said, "and ult🐻imately c🧸ame to a place where I realised I had written something I just couldn't even shoot."

Your Name follows two high schoolers who begin swapping bodies, even though they've never met. Raya and the Last Dragon Carlos López Estrada is now set to helm the live-action adaptation, which will follow a Native American woman and a man from Chicago. J.J. Abrams's Bad Robot is producing, with Toho distributing in Japan and Paramount internationally and in the U🌃S.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ UK in Anime-movies ]]> It's been a strong year for anime. Major titles such as Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen delivered the goods, while Delicious in Dungeon cooked up something special on Netflix and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End staked its (well-earned) claim as 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:one of the top-rated anime of all time by the end of its first season.

D🧔espite 2024's high bar of quality, a new anime movie on Prime Video may have just bested them all at the eleventh hour.

The following contains spoilers for Look Back.

Look Back, an adaptation of Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto's one-shot manga, is something I've been unable to stop t𓆏hinking about since its debut on Amazon's streaming service earlier this month.

The movie, directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama and described by video game developer Hideo Kojima as one of the "most remarkable" of the past decade, is – at its base l🅷evel – a story about two girls who form an unlikely bond thanks to their love of drawing manga.

Where one, Fujino, is intensely competitive, the oth✱er – Kyomoto – is a recluse whose masterful submissions to the school newspaper's manga panels are her only contributions to anything outside the four walls of her room.

Early on in Look Back, we see the to-and-fro of Fujino's self-taught drive to becoming a great manga artist being overshadowed by Kyomoto's more natural ability. Eventually, Fujino's ice-cold front melts away and the two become frieಞnds and artistic partners as they aim to hit it big.

But t𝓀his isn't a rags-to-riches story. It's something far more heartfelt than that. The first lump-in-the-throat moment from Look Back arrives about a third of the way through its hour runtime – and it involves little more than Fujino heading home after one of her first interactions with the wallflower-like Kyomoto.

As a brisk walk turns into a joyful jig and playful splashing in the rain, Fujino – and the movie itself – is able to express the ungraspable 🔯feeling of what it means to create something or to share something you love with another person. It's simple, effective and, thanks to its rotoscope-like movements, is a strong contender for one of the year's most masterfully-animated sequences.

Look Back's magic is found in that one scene. Why? Great movies can make you feel things. The best movies can make you understand why you feel things. Look Back, with just 30 seconds of animation, fall🐻s firmly into that latter category.

Look Back

Just on that heart-swelling merit alone, it would be eaꩵsy to recommend Look Back. It's the film's latter half that really sees it step into classic territory – and hits as hard as any movie I've watched recently.

Fujino and Kyomoto, inevitably, grow apart. These things happen. As each🎃 has different ideas of what they want to do with their career, their paths diverge. In one fell swoop, Fujino strikes out on her own as a significant success and Kyomoto heads to art school.

As an adult, it can be tough to grieve the loss of friends and the shared memory of moments you held dear. Look Back handles that situation through a series of unspoken goodbyes, ones that will resonate with anyone who hasܫ lost contact with someone they loved.

Unfortunately, that's not t💦he end. While at art school, Kyomoto is confronted by a crazed member of the public wielding an axe and is killed.

It's a sudden, unthinkable moment. While we never see the massacre itself, we feel its effects – and it's a shattering reminder of what th⛦e anime has already lost.

After all, it's difficult to unmoor Kyomoto's death from the real-life tragedy that saw 36 people die after an arson attack at the Kyoto Animation studio in 2019, one of Japan's worst post-World War Two massacres. Fujimoto clearly dealt with this grief two years later by creating art and – through Fujino – imagines an alter💟nate timeline where the day is saved and everyone continues living their lives completely oblivious to what could have happened.

Look Back, through that dual timeline switch, not only mourns the loss of art, but the loss of people. The people in our lives may not be painters, animators, or sculptors yet each, in their own way, are artists; they crea𓂃te the same sense of joy and belonging that a great piece of art does, and w𒉰e should forever keep them close.

Iꩵf you can find time to wipe away the tears in its closing 10 minutes, Fujino's final act in Look Back is oddly triumphant. Prior t♎o living a quote-unquote 'normal' life once more back in the original timeline, she heads to Kyomoto's room. There, it's revealed Kyomoto followed Fujino's career from afar, yet never quite found the means to reconnect.

In response, Fujino places an empty four-panel manga on the window of her studio, much like the one from her school newspaper days, and continues drawing as she remembers – via montage – of all the times her art ma🍎de Kyomoto come out of her shell and be happy.

Then, the kicker: the time for reminiscing is over as the credits roll and Fujino heads back to the grind of her day job as an artist. No more looking back, no flashbacks, but a resilient step forward. The message: everything you do, no matter how small, is worth somethi♍ng. Make sure you live every day as if it were four empty pꦜanels, waiting to be filled.
