Tomb Raider film reboot confirmed, The Departed producer on board
GK Films🐼 to𝐆 release first film of new franchise in 2013
The T♈omb Raider brand reboot is getting support from Hollywood. GK Films today announced it has purchased the Tomb Raider movie rights from Square Enix's subsidiary studio, Crystal Dynamics, and it will be refreshing the film franchise for theaters start🍸ing in 2013.
Last time Lara Croft's cinematic reboot was discussed, it was being developed by Terminator Salvation producerwith actresses like Megan Fox and Olivia Wildeup for the part of Angelina Jolie'sreplacement. Now, the movie has officially fallen into the handไs of The൩ Departed producerand Rango executive producer. No actress has yet been attached.
“We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film fr꧃anchise and continuing the Tomb Raider phenomenon,” said King in the pressrelease.
This will be the third movie to invoke the Tomb Raider title. The previous films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003), amassed over $430 million in combined worldwide ticket sales.
