The plot follows Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland), a girl for whom “troubled” is an understatement. Her parents are junkies, and when her mother dies, her father (Jeff Bridges) takes her to a dilapidated house in the mi෴ddle of nowhere. Lonely Jeliza retreats into a world of fantasy, where fireflies have names, bog-men stalk the night and squirrels are happy to stop for a chat.
