While there are plenty of board games today that allow for deeper strategies, Carcassonne has wedged itself firmly in the 'easy family fun' category. Its inoffensive si🀅mplicꩲity gives it a broad appeal that's great to ease reluctant newbies into the hobby, and you can play it to death since no two games are ever the same.
