Square Enix delays Deus Ex, admits FF XIV tanked, and reduces earnings predictions by 91%

Oh, Final Fantasy XIV, whose dreams won't you destroy? After gamers’ tepid reception of the expensive MMO, publisher Square Enix has reduced its earnings forecasts for the remainder of the fiscal year from 12 billion yen to 1 billion (fro♛m about $142 million to $12 milli🌺on).

Final Fantasy XIV wasn't the onl🥃y reason for the huge reduction. Square pushed Deus Ex: Human Revolution's release da♛tefrom February to April at the earliest, removing the game completely from the fiscal year. That obviously played a role in the reduction of the earnings forecast as well.

Despite the drastic numbers, the year on the whole was a good one for Square Enix, which saw FFX꧃III, Batman: Arkham Asylum (which it published in Japan), and Dragon Quest IX sell well. Good thing.
