Skype on PSP Slim only

Jan 7, 2008

Sony Computer Entertainment has co♓nfirmed that free voice-over-IP service 🐓Skype is coming to PSP - but only if you've got a Slim and Light. Damn.

Owners of Sony's updated ♒handheld will be able to begin using the service as early as this month, when a upcoming system update slaps a Skype icon in the Network menu category.

PSP users who don't have a Skype username can register by clicking the icon and following the instructions, whereafter wonde🧸rful free phone calls will be theirs.

By introducing Skꦚype on PSꦐP, the following features will be made available:

- Free voice calls between Skype users
- Skype cont🍰act list management (view ♌existing contacts, add new ones)
- Skype pres❀ence (see which friend𒆙s are online and available to talk)
- SkypeOut calls to make calls to landlines and mobile phones anywhere in the wꦍorld (requires the purchase of Skype credit)
- Optional SkypeIn number that lets users receive calls on Skype from landlines and mobiles anywhere in the world (requires the purchase of🔴 Skype credit)
- View and mo⛎dify Skype settings and account details (includin🉐g username creation, SkypeOut settings, voicemail settings and call forwarding)

Good news for Slim and Light owners then, and a kick in♑ the nuts for us poor gits with the fat PSPs.

We're not exactly somersaulting over the announcement anyway, but apparently Sony plans 𓂃to "vigorously promote" Skype PSP so we may see some in༺terest yet.
