Re-Animator The Musical At Edinburgh Fringe
Stage version ꦑstarring George Wendt from Cheers and director by the cult film’s director Stuart Gordon
In 1985, Stuart Gordon directed his first feature film and created a sensation. It was an adaptation of H Lovecraft’s Re-Animator , 🐽and went on to become a major cult hit, delivering as many laughs as it did screams. It even won a Critics’ Prize 🥃at the Cannes Film Festival.
Last year Gordon and his co-writers Dennis Paoli and William J Norris and composer/lyricist Mark Nutter turned Re-Animator into a musical for the stage, directed by Gordon𒊎, which has played to rave reviews and standing ovations in the States for a s♎old-out six month run.
And now it’s coming to the Edinburgh Festival complete with it’s original cast including George Wendt , best known as the affable Norm from Cheers plays the Dean of 🎶a Medical School who is transformed into a mindless zombie.
Re-Animator The Musical will run from 1 - 27 August at Assembly Ge🐼orge Square. .
Re-Animator tells the story of Herbert West, a brilliant young medical student who has created a glowing green serum that can bring the dead back to life. What should be a medical breakthrough results in hideous monstrosities and ghastly consequences. “I guess he just wasn’t fresh enough,” is West’s constant refrain as his quest for fresh subjec꧋ts results in the murders of half the faculty of the medical school.
Providing the special effects is the same team that worked on the 1985 movie, and the blood will flow so freely that the first few rows will be designate🧸d as a “splash zone.”
