For a franchise that was once envisaged as a 'star vehicle' for Jean-Claude Van Damme, I'd say that Mortal Kombat has done pretty damn well for itself. From gimmicky pot-stirrer to serious fighting title, this gory story has undergone a truly gut-busting array of changes since its early 90s debut. For one, the game's narrative aspirations have grown immeasurably, bringing along with it an entire cast of characters and transforming t🍬hem from one note clichés into… slightly more interesting clichés.
