Marc Webb initially thought rebooting Spider-Man was crazy
And addresses fears of too many sequel villains
Marc Webb has been speaking about the Amazing Spider-Man franchise at SXSW, revealing that his initial reaction to the idea of rebooting the franchise was one of bemusement!
“It was the stupidest idea I had ever heard,” says Webb. “Amy Pascal br💛ought it up to me and I thought 𒆙it was crazy. Those movies, which are really sacred to people, weren’t that old.”
“They gave me a script I didn't like, but Amy said, ‘You can't turn down Spider-Man .’ And she was ri🐻ght. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
Turning his attention to , Webb attempted to allay fears that the sequel will cont🌼ain too many villains, confirming that Rhino will only be in the film for four minutes.
“The main villain is Electro,” says We🦂bb. “Every other villain emerges around that. We were careful to make sure the stories entertained. You had to make sure to create obstacles that were difficult to overcome.&rd🌺quo;
“We wanted to make the physical and emotional obstacles difficult. Rhino is in it for four minutes... when you see the movie, I'm confident.”
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.
