Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure

Marc Ecko's never made a videogame before, ꧃but he's confident enough about this one that he's willing to put his name to it. Hey, it's a game about graffiti; it's fitting that he'll have it sprayed over every copy of it.

We wouldn't put our names to it, ﷽what with all the violence, social unrest, hoodie-wearing thugs and poorly-paid council workers stinking up the futuristic city of New Radius.

Y💎ou'll play as budding 'fiti grandmaster Trane, who's determined to take over New Radius via t♕he medium of spraying his name onto anything that doesn't move.

Getting Up is trying to pack a lot of play styles into its width: hand-to-hand combat, stealthing, exploration, busy urban bustles and an affection for the graffiti scene. 𓆏It's essential that it all comes together because🌜 we're not too impressed with how the game currently feels so far.

Combat can feel brutal, b▨ut it's pretty dull, mostly thanks to enemies attacking in the most basic and predictable of triple-punch combos.

There's also something strangely cruel about🤪 the game's morality, or lack of it. Such as kicking the crap out of a lowly construction worker, just because he works for 'the man' - all so you can do𓄧 some drawings on a wall that doesn't even belong to you.

Still, it's not up to us, it's up to Mr Ecko, and we'll have to ⛄wait and see whether Getting Up can pull itself toge🌊ther into something great.
