Michael Fassbender charges into battle in new Macbeth footage: Cannes 2015

Studiocanal has revealed two new clips from Macbeth online, and you can check them both out here.

Both new pieces of footage showcase the dramatic stylings of Justin ‘Snowtown’ Kurzel’s take on one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. Amping up the battle scenes from the play’s stagebound origins, the first clip s𒊎hows Michael Fassbender’s Macbeth leading the charge into battle. Hordes rage forwards, tearing through the dense fog, with the inter-cu༒t slo-mo scenes giving the sequence a brutal beauty.

And the next clip shows Macbeth💎, mid-coronation, while Lady Macbeth (Marion Cotillard) looks on. For a short, simple scene, it’s drenched in foreboding. The dialogue also ups the eerie atmosphere.

From the cast, to the costumes, to the set design and cinematography, Macbeth is looking set to be a class act, and perhaps one of the grittiest movies to retain the Ba𓃲rd’s original language.
