Earlier this year TF reported that the Highlander reboot was back on track, with RCR Media Group pitching in to help Summit Entertainment finance the film.

At that point Summ𓆏🌠it claimed Justin Lin was still on board when it came to directing.

Today Summit announced that Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo ( 28 Weeks Later , Intruders ) will be helming the reboot - effectively removing Lin as head honꦏcho in an apt nod to a series that uses decapitation to weed out weak warriors from the strong.

It seems Lin might have a touch of the immortal about him, though. The statement goes on to say that, “Justin Lin will also executive produce&r🤪dquo;.

Ramirez would be proud.

Highlander will be written by Ar📖t Marcum and Matt Holloway and production is slated to begin spring of 2012.
