Jim Carrey's latest film collapses
A Little Game Without Consequence falls apart
You’ve got to feel sorry for Jim Carrey. Okay, maybe not a lot – he’s not short of a bob or two and he has made some truly annoying films. But recently, he just can’t seem to catch a brea🐠k.
After Ben Stiller comedy Used Guys and Tim Burton’s planned Ripley’s biopic, a third movie has fallen out 🧸from under the rubber-faced thesp. He’d only just signe🌞d on to re-team with Cameron Diaz for Gabriele Muccino’s remake of French dramadey A Little Game Without Consequence and now the whole thing has been shoved into limbo.
The reason? It appears to be the script. According to sources that blabbed to The Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay – most recently re-written by Muccino himself – didn’t quite mesh with what everyone thought they were getting into. Productio🦂n team Focus Features were apparenᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚtly planning to push the project towards a more commercial, lighter tone, with the director and thesps aiming to keep the darkness of the original intact. Diaz and Carrey bailed shortly before Muccino jumped ship himself.
"Due to amicable but substantive creative differences, Focus Features and producers Alain Chabat and Stephanie Danan are no longer making A Little Game with Gabriele Muccino. We are actively seeking a suitable replacement and plan to move forward with the project when that happens," a Focus spokesperson ga🐬bbed in a statement, though no one is sure whether the actors will return.
Don’t worry Jim – have a good old cry and blow yer nose on one of those $100 bills ﷽lying around the house…
