There seems to be a bit of recurring theme with newer playerꦐs to FFX, maꦬny of

them make topics concerning꧙ what is permanently missable in this gam🗹e, because

of t🅺♉he understandable reason that they don't want to find out near the end of

their adventure that they missed a🅰n extremely important item, and can no longer

obta𝔍in it.  This FAQ was created for the purpose of having all the permanen⛦tly

missable items compiled in list that coulℱd be easily ✅referenced by any and all

gamers

While there are no items that can be missed that will al൲lo൲w you miss out on any

Aeons or Celestial weapons,🌠 there are certainly some missable items in this

game, and I'm happy🐲 to compile them here in this FAQ for you.

I'll also be making note of any temporarily missable items💞 that hold s꧂ome sort

of significance.

To reiterate one of the important points of this FAQ, I'm not list♛i꧙ng any

normal or easily obtained item that can be foun♒d in a one-time only chest, or

items🦩 given to⛦ you by Spirans that you'll meet along the way.  Yeah, that

Stoneproof Ring for Yuna on the Djose H🎉ighroad is nice, but since there are

numerous other w❀ays of obtaining i▨t and items like it, there's no reason to

mention them.  KAಞDCF's Item Database FAQ has a list of missable chests if you

are interested.

Enjoy!

Permanently Missable Item List

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Let me just clarify that t♛his list is only pointing out unique items that can

be lost forever in this game.  I 🎶won't be pointing out things that can be

🌠obtained through other methods (barring a cheat device).

*********************

NO ENCOUNTERS WEAPON:

*********************

Found:  An equipment drop from Ge🐟osgaeno, after defeating him on your return

trip to Baaj Temple after obtai♈ning the Airship. &❀nbsp;Geosgaeno can also drop armor

with Auto Reflect on it, so💧 you may need to f🌠ight him a few times before you

obtain this weapon.

Why it's ꦜon the list:  ▨Yes, it's possible to get a No Encounters armor through

Customization, or from an equipment drop from other enemies (Ghoꦯsts, Wraiths,

Demonoliths), but this i🍰s the only way to obtain a WEAPON with this ability on

it.

When it becomes lost forever:  As soon as you defeat Geo𝄹sgaeno and save.

Usefulness:  It has no real advantages over a No Encounters armor, but it 🍃is

the easiest wa🍌y to obtain any No Enꦑcounters equipment in my opinion, and being

able to wander about aimlesꦬsly without fear of a random encounter is incredibly

cool.

**********************

MAGIC COUNTER BUCKLER:

**********************

Found:  Sold by th🌸e Hovercraft 🍎merchant in the Calm Lands, who only appears on

your first visit to this area.

Why it's on the list:   Simil🐎ar to the No Encounters weapon🀅, this piece of

equi🤡pment is unique because M🍷agic Counter is a weapon ability, not an armor

ability.

When it becomes lost forever:  There have been m♔ultiple conflict♌ing reports

about when the Hov🍌ercraft merchant dis꧂appears, about which exact scene triggers

his dis൩appearance.  Buy 📖the Buckler immediately, if not, no complaints.

Usefulness:  You c꧃an certainly make use of this armor throughout a lot of the

game, up until you get Tidus's Caladbolg.  Ca꧟n be quite helpful while c๊apturing

as you m🧸ost likely won't be pu🀅tting Magic Counter on a capture weapon.  Can be

quite helpful for some of the later boss fights.

********************

0-Slotted Longsword:

********************

Found:  Initially equipped ﷽by Tidus (given to him by Auron in Zanarkand).  Can

be purchased at Macala🐲nia Travel Agency for a short period of ti🎶me.

Why it's on the list:   Ugh.  I hate having this on the list, b꧑ut since you can

permanently screw yourself o🍃ut of this item if you se🅠ll it, then it might as

well be on here.

When it becomes lost forever♉: ༺ After the events take place your first time

through Macalania Temple.

Usefulness:  None whatsoever.

***************

MASTER SPHERES:

***************

🐲Found: In the North American version𝔍, there is only one way to get these items,

and it's a one time on൩ly deal.  Once𒀰 you unlock Nemesis in the Monster Arena,

by capturing 10 of every f🍸iend and defeating all of the Area, Species, and

O🃏riginal Creations, you'll be given 10 of these from the Monster Trainer. After

that, you're done, no soup for you, etc, etc.

In the PAL/Internationa🀅l versions of FFX, you have a many more opportunities to

obtain Master Spheres, but in❀ the end, their quantiti🅷es are limited.  Each Dark

Aeon ca🎃n drop Master Sp🐷heres as their Rare drop (1/8 of the time) one at a time

and two for an Overkill.  Penance drops them all the time, threeꦅ at a t𝕴ime, six

for an Overkill.  Penan🐠ce's🎐 Arms also drop them rarely, but only one at a time

regardless of an Overkill.ꦦ &n▨bsp; You can, of course, also obtain 10 of these by

unlocking Nemesis.

There are two ways you can build up🔜 your stock of Master Spheres before you

lose the opportunཧity to farm for them. You can repeatedly kill Dark Yojimbo,

and sa﷽ve after the fo♈urth battle, and reload.  Since you need to defeat him in

five consecutive fights withꦑout reloading a game, he🔯 will respawn and you'll be

able to kill him as much as you'd like (this is a✨lso a great 🌊way to farm for

Dark Matters or a Ribbon/+BHPL armor).  You can also re⭕peatedly kill Penance's

🍎Arms for Master ♊Spheres.  Remember that with 255 Defense, Auto Protect, Defense

+20%, Cheer x4 and Auto Potion, Penance himse🎶lf can never kill you as long as

the arms are dealt with, so just destroy the arms, and wait for them to respaw𒈔n

and repeat.  To ensure that you don't run out of Potions for this fight, c🐻ome

with 99 Potions, 99 Hi Potions, and♑ 99 X Potions and Mix Trio at the beginning

of the fight so that Auto Potion will ꦓalways heal 9999 Hp.

When these become lost forever:  Once Pen🐟ance (and thus, the Dark Aeons) has

been de💛feated, you can no longer obtain Masteඣr Spheres, thus, making them a

potentially permanently missable item.

Usefulness: Well, you can activate any node on the Sphere Grid.  Pretty🐼🐲 useful,

But b🍷y the time you get them, you might not need a whole lot more help with

your Sphere Grid.

****************

AL BHED PRIMERS:

****************

A quick note: while these aren'tꦇ technically permanently missable𒈔, if you only

plan on doingꦦ a single playthrough, and you don't have a friend's memory card

to compile the ones you missed, then you're gonn𝐆a be screwed.  It's always

nice to𝕴 get these legitimately anyway, at least the firs✨t time.

Usefulness: Knowing what the Al Bhed (and any sc😼ript written in Al Bhed) are

saying can be pretty cool, but Rin als𒈔o rewards you with 99 Underdog's Secrets,

which are otherwis♚e a pai𒊎n in the ass to obtain, if you speak to him on the

Airship after collecting all 26 Primers.

+++++++++++

PRIMER XIX:

+++++++++++

Found:  As soon as you enter Home and meet Cid for the first ജtime, run to the

left side of the screen, you'll find this ꧙lying on the ground next to a burning

pile of wreckage.

When it b🔯ecomes lost "forever": Once you proceed through the൩ door at the north

end of the♕ screen, you'll no longer be able to get this Primer.

++++++++++

PRIMER XX:

++++++++++

💜Foꦬund:  This one can be rather tricky.  After a forced battle in Home

against a Guado and a couple of Dual Hor🌸ns, you'll see Tidus standing at the꧙

top of a staircase.  Precede down the stairs until the screens shifts view🔯s to

behind Tidus (the camera resting atop the stairs he 🌌was standing on, if you

will). &nbs🦹p;Run back up the stairs and enter the door on the le𒁏ft side of the

screen.  You'll hear Rikku 🐼s🐲ay "No, not that way," then another battle with a

Guado and two Dual Horns will take place.  Once🍒⛎ the battle is over, check the

bed on the right side of the screen, the Pri💯mer will be there.

When it becomes lost "fore♚ver":  Once you exit through the door at the bottom

of the stairs next to the save sphere.

+++++++++++

PRIMER XXI:

+++++++++++

Found: At the bottom of the staircase (the one you just asceღnded to finཧd ABP

XX) head to the right.  At the very northeast corner of this area you'll fin♑d

this Primer (the nex🐷t room contains a couple of Chimeras and an Al Bhed

compilation Sphere).

When it becomes l🥂ost "forever":  Once you head out the door next to the save

𝓡sphere, you will no longer be able to get this Primer.

++++++++++++

PRIMER XXII:

++++++++++++

Found:  In Bevelle, right before you enter th♛e Cloister of Trials, you'll

find this Primer at the bottom of the stai🐼rs afteꦬr you take the very handicap

accessible staircase to a lower area of ♛Bevelle Pal𓄧ace.

When it becomes lost "for༺ever":  Once you enter the Bevelle Cloistꦅer.

There are a few Primers that you ൩can miss out getting in their original

location, but appear in different areas later in the game🙈.  The following is 𒈔a

li💫st of the Primers that appear in a new area if you missed th𒈔em in their

original location.

&n𒁃bsp;                                     &nbౠsp; the left, on top of a dune.

*************************

Wantz in Macalania Woods:

*************************

After viewi🎃ng the Highbridge event once you gain permanent access to the

Airship, Wa⛄ntz will begin selling four slotted equipment in Macalania Woods for

100,000 each.  He's located right near the entran🗹ce from the Thunder Plains.

If you did not speak🅷 with Wantz on Mt. Gagazet, for whatever reason, he will

not show up Macalania Woods, and you will not be able to 🌱purcha🅰se this four

slotted equipment.

Empty four slotted equipment can be obtained fr⛎om the foll🅘owing enemies:

Adamantois &ღnbsp; ꦗ   (Omega Ruins, Inside S)

Black Element   (Omega Ruins)

Master Tonberry (Omega Ruins)

Varuna       &nbs🦹p; &nbs✃p;(Omega Ruins, City of Dying Dreams)

YAT-97     &nbs💞p;    (Zanarkand)

YKT-11       &n✤bsp;  (Zanarkand)

**************************

DURREN (yes, the Blitzer):

**************************

While not an item by any means, you can permanently miss out on yo𒆙ur chance to

recruit Durren♏ for your Blitz team (no worries, he's not special in any way

other than the fact that you can🌺 miss out on recruiting him).  Normally, he

can be found 💯training in the Calm Lands, he's a Crusader training to fight Sin.

Once you defeat Sin's Left/Right fins, he leav♋es the Calm Lands never to be

seen again.  Something about the Calm Lanওds just makes people disappear, maybe

they're falling into the gorge.

*************************

Besaid and Macalania DSTs

*************************

It should be worth noting that for the PAL/Int gaཧmers, getting the Besaid and

Macalania Destru💜ction Sphere treasures the first time through those te♍mples is

a very wise decision.  If you miss your first opp𒈔ortunity to get them, you'll

have to defeat Dark Va🔯lefor (Besaid) and/or Dark Shiva ♐(Macalania) before you

can access the Cloister again.

Be sure to pick these up your first time through.

*********

Sun Crest

*********

💖Similar to the Besaid and Macalania treasures, this item can not be perm🐬anently

missed, but yo🥃u will have a great deal of trouble getting it if you miss it

your first time throuܫgh Zanarkand.  After obtꦦaining the Airship, Dark Bahamut

takes༺ up residency in the area that you would find the Sun Crest, meanꦗing

you'll have to take him out before getting it.

On🎃ce again, this only applies to the PAL/Int gamers.

************

Jecht Sphere

************

The Jecht/Auꦚro💦n/Braska Spheres start showing up around Spira once you defeat

Spherimorph, so your first🌞 opportunity to get this woꦛuld be right after that

battle, but before the events that directly pr༒eceed the Crawler fight.  This

isn't missable🍸, but i꧂f you don't get this before fighting Crawler, then you'll

have to go through Dark Vale🔯for to get it.  If you forg♔ot either Energy Blast

or the Destruction Sphere treasure i𓂃n Besaid, I wo🌱uld recommend going back once

you've defeated Sp꧑herimorph, to get it all in a single ꦉtrip.

************

Energy Blast

************

Valefor's seꦯcond Overdrive is first obtainable as soon as you leave Besaid with

Wakka, Lulu and Yuna.  Simply go ba💮ck into Besai▨d, speak to the woman behind

the coun🔯ter at the item shop (doesn't m🍷atter if you buy anything), and then

find the girl who owns the 🌠dog, speak to her, then check the dog's mouth. Once

you've viewed the events that directly preceed the Crawl🍰er fight, you'll h💧ave

to go through Dark Valefor to get this "item."

6.0 - Bevelle Destruction Sphere & Treasure

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I thought it wo๊uld only be prudent to make a note about this in the FAQ.  The

Bevell🌸e Destruction Sphere CAN'T be missed, because it's neꦍeded to get out of

the♏ Temple and progress with the game.  The Bevelle treasure that corresponds

with the statue in Baaj Temple CAN'T be missed.  The tr✱easure is the Hp Sphere

that you automatically pick up on your way out of the Temple.🎶  The chest to the

left of the💙 exit of Bevelle 🐷Temple as a Knight's Lance for Kimahri, a weapon

with Strength +10/5/3.  This has absolutely no bearing on obtaining Anima,ಞ it's

simply a normal treasure.

Thanks to the regulars at the FFX board, without them I wouไldn't be writing any

kinds of FAQs.

Than🐈ks to Ultimaphazon for suggesting that I add notes about the Sun Crest and

Thanks to my local cable provi🎉der for having nothing worth watching at 2:00 on

this rainy ♋Monday night, without absolutely anythi෴ng to do, I might not have
