Talk about bad timing, am I right? Carpenter perfectly crafts tension throughout the entire ꧂film as Michael stalks Laurie. Pair that with some brutal kills, and a killer who is an unstoppable force of evil who can't be reasoned with, and you've got the perfect scary movie for any Friday night.

Late Night with the Devil

There's mo༒re than a touch of Ghostwatch about this enormously fun retro horror. David Dastmalchian stars as Jack Delroy, a late-night TV talk show host who holds a spooky Halloween special. One of his guests is parapsychologist Dr June Ross-Mitchell (Laura Gordon) who has brought with her Lilly D'Abo (Ingrid Torelli), a 13-year-old girl who is apparently possessed by a demon. Not everyone is convinced, however: another of Delroy's guests, Carmichael Haig (Ian Bliss) is determined to prove that D'Abo is a fraud.

A perfectly-realized pastiche of '70s talk shows, Late Night with the Devil feels tailor-made to give the ever-excellent Dastmalchian a leading role that shows off his range. Delroy is funny, charming, but also a little bit sinister even without the apparently demonic happenings around him. This is a whole lot of freaky fun and🔯, by the climax, genuinely scary.

Barbarian

Barbarian is a 2022 horror film that'll make you side-eye every future Airbnb booking you may make. Directed by Zach Cregger, things go south for Tess👍 Marshall (Georgina Campbell) after she discovers that the Airbnb she is staying at for a job interview has not only been double-booked but also holds a sinister past... Barbarian is snappy, packed with actioꦆn, and more than a few twists, while making references to generational trauma and abuse against women.

Not only do its the🔥mes feel super relevant in today's day and age, but Cregger's style makes for a perfect thrilling Friday m🎃ovie choice. It's filmed almost like an old survival horror game as the camera follows Tess through an underground labyrinth. The monster is looming, but will still encourage a few giggles, and the story never overstays its welcome.

The Blair Witch Project

In 1994, three young filmmakers set out to make a documentary on Elly Kedward, the so-called Blair Witch. They are never seen again, but the harrowing footage of their last days is discovered and presented here. Or at least, that's how the 🦩story goes...

Thankfully, this terrifying found footage folk horror (shot in 1997, not 1994) is a fake – albeit an incredibly convincing one. Part of the reason for that is the way it was shot: filmmakers Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez really did force actors Heather Donahue, Michael Williams, and Joshua Leonard (playing fictionalized versions of themselves) to endure several days schlepping through the woods of Maryland, camping, while being constantly "attacked" by disguised members of the production staff. No wonder they all seem so stressed out! Eerie and unsettling precisely because of what the video fuzz doesn't quite let you see, 🌸The Blair Witch Project remains a benchmark in found footage horror and one of the most frightening films ever made.

Heretic also isn't afraid to confront the dark sides of religion itself, making for a story full of interesting conflict and tension. A great modern, Friday the 13th pick for sure!

And of course, what better way to celebrate Friday the 13th than by watching all the Friday the 13th movies in order, starting with the very first slasher excursion to Camp Crystal Lake. But because the events of The Penguin take place after The Batman, it's likely that that scene was setting up The Batman 2. Farrell is set to reprise the role of Oz in the upcoming pic, though he says production is "nowhere close" to beginning.

The Accountant 2

If Fubar hasn't satiated your action appetite this week, then this belated follow-up to the 2016 action film The Accountant surely will. Ben Affleck stars once again as Christian Wolff, the titular bookkeeper. This isn't a story about someꦿone filing tax returns, however – Christian has some serious connections to the criminal underworld, and he'll need to call on them – and his estranged hitman brother Braxton (Jon Bernthal) – when he uncovers a mystery connected to the death of an old friend...

The original Accountant movie was a solid, if unspectacular thriller, so it's nice to be able to say that this sequel is a huge improvement in almost every way. The plot is stronger, the action scenes more exciting. Affleck and Bernthal continue to have great chemistry as two estranged brothers who are forced to work together in very difficu꧒lt circumstances. 🐲Exciting stuff.

The Alto Knights

You get double the De Niro in Barry Levinson's latest gangster thriller. The legendary actor plays both Vito Genovese and Frank Costello here – two real life mob bosses whose initial friendship and unlikely alliance eventually soured and became a bitter rivalry. Based on a script by Nicholas Pileggi, who has major credibility when it comes to this sort of thing having written Goodfellas, The Alto Knights is ♓a gripping portrait of the mafia and of a friendship gone very wrong. De Niro is as excellent as you'd expect, even when acting against himself, though there is certainly a slight uncanny valley feeling in those scenes.

The Alto Knights did not perform well when it was released in theaters, which is a shame as it's a very solid movie. Perhaps it will find a more welcoming home on streaming. We'll find out for sure when𒈔 it lands on HBO Max this Friday.

Ginny & Georgia season 3

We're back in Wellsbury, Massachusetts, for the third series of this delightfully OTT comedy drama. The show follows 30-something Georgia (Brianne Howey) and her teen daughter Gi൩nny (Antonia Gentry). Georgia is a resourceful mom who means well – generally speaking – but she does have one rather bad habit: she keeps killing people. In season one she murdered her ꦍabusive second husband, and in season 3 she killed Cynthia's husband in a misguided attempt to "look after" her friend.

Season 3 picks up with Georgia under house arrest and potentially facing prison time. But while this naturally puts pressure ⛄on her daughter, Antonia Gentry says that her character will grow over the course of the season, telling "we see a new side of Ginny where she's really coming into her own, and accepting her decisions and st🌊anding by them, and making hard choices, but not being riddled with guilt or shame."

"You get one dog murdering episode a lifetime," co-showrunner Craig Mazin said in a press conference attended by GamesRadar+. Mazin also created the show Chernobyl, which saw multiple dogs culled in the aftermath of 🗹the nuclear tragedy. "There are two cardinal rules in Hollywood. One, don't spend your own money. Two, don't kill the dog."

But,✱ there's a more 💞serious reason, too. "We had a situation where a number of horrible things were happening. Plus, because it's live action, the nature of violence becomes much more graphic. It's more graphic. Because it's not like there's an animation between you and it; it's people. And it's very disturbing."

Plus, with how dark the rest 𓆉of the episode was, it just ended u💃p being overkill.

"Sometimes adding something that was cut from the game requires you to remove something that was in the game," added Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann. "So here, that sequence where Ellie drifts to the Seraphite island and almost gets lynched herself was something we used to have in the game and cut it for just production… purposes. And then now we had three horrible things in a row. We had that sequence, Alice, and then Mel. And in our conversation, we're like♏, this is probably one one too many."

Captain America: Brave New World

This British crime thriller has more than a touch of Slow Horses about it but, hey, that's no bad thing. Inspired by Jussi Adler-Olsen's Carl Morck novels, which started in 2011 with ♏Mercy, it follows a brilliant but traumatized cop (Matthew Goode as Carl Morck) who is given a new assignment to keep him busy: open up Department Q, an obscure unit dedicated to investigating cold cases in Edinburgh, with help from a gang of similarly misfit officers.

Created by Scott Fꦇrank, the writer and director of Godless💛 and The Queen's Gambit, this has a fine cast including Kelly Macdonald and Chloe Pirrie, and looks like a very promising new crime series.

The Handmaid's Tale season 6

A lot of great shows are reaching their season finales this week. The Better Sister

Who are Lev and Yara? *SPOILERS*

In The Last of Us Part 2, Lev (Ian Alexander) and Yara (Victoria Grace) are a brother and sister duo who were born into the Seraphite cult. Yara was initially selected as a warrior, tasked with fighting the WLF around the 🌸age of 13. Yara never questioned the rules – until Lev decided to shave his head and identify as openly male, which is something the Seraphites would never approve of and would likely kill him for. With that knowledge, Yara knew the only choice was to help him escape – leading the cult to brand the pair as heathens.

The duo run into Abby Anderson, who is about to be killed by the Seraphites. The cult shatters Yara's arm, bu♊t the three manage to escape t🐬o the abandoned aquarium where Owen and Mel (who are now deceased in The Last of Us season 2) are hiding out from the WLF after defecting. It's heavily implied in season 2 that Abby and her friends (save for Manny) have already defected and/or are planning to, as Isaac complains about Abby's absence.

Owen and Mel plan to flee to Santa Barbara to find the remaining Fireflies,꧃ but Lev wants to persuade his mothe🧸r to come with them. This happens right as the WLF launches an all-out invasion of the Seraphite island, culminating in a tense moment where Yara is shot right before Isaac arrives to confront Abby. Yara shoots Isaac, saving Lev's life, but dies in the process, allowing Abby and Lev to escape.

In the game, Lev is with Abby when it's discovered that Owen and Mel are dead. He is also with Abby during the big showdown with Ellie and Dina in the theater, allowing Team Abby to gain the upper hand. During the final, final showdown⭕ at the end of The Last of Us Part 2, Abby escapes with Lev by boat, after Ellie decides not to kill them.

Will Lev and Yara be in The Last of Us season 3?

Back in 2023, Ian Alexander 💧and Victoria Grace both told separate nℱews outlets that they would love to return for season 2 as Lev and Yara. However, given how the show decided to break up Ellie and Abby's plots in a way that's more akin to the game's timeline it would make more s☂ense for Lev and Yara to appear in season 3. Season 2 ends by jumping back in time to show us Abby's Seattle Day One, much like in the game, and will likely begin the same way – showing us what Abby was doing during those three days that Ellie and Dina were hunting her down.

Lev and Yara are indeed part of Abby's three-day arc in the game, with Lev being the one who eventually crosses over with Ellie and Dina. We can speculate that season 3 will be Abby's three days in Seattle, with a potential season 4 covering The Farm and Santa Barbara. This would stretch Lev's arc over two seasons, up to the final showdown between Ellie and Abby. Nothing has been confirmed, but anything is possible. And given🍒 that Jeffrey Wright returned to play Isaac, the character he provided the voice and motion capture for, it's possible that Alexander🃏 and Grace could return as well.

From another perspective, she may have been the hero of this story, instead of the shocking executioner she becomes at the end of episode 2. Enraged by Joel’s demand to “get this over with”, she growls: “You stupid old man, you don’t get to rush this.”

Abby Road

It doesn’t make what happens next any easier, particularly as we’ve spent 11 episodes growing attached to Joel and El🔯lie’s father-daughter bond. It does, however, provide some justification. We aren’t metaphorically standing at Joel’s grave asking why, and Abby isn’t the swaggering torturer that Negan was. There is a struggle in her revenge, offering some sympathy from the beginning of episode 2, in a dream sequence where she tells herself not to walk through a door that will reveal her father’s corpse. Negan didn’t get anything close to a sympathetic portrayal until season 9 of The Walking Dead when many had given up on the show.

The impact of what Joel did echoes across Ellie’s subsequent quest for revenge. In episode 5, cornered and facing infection, Abby’s accomplice Nora reads off Joel’s charges: “Don’t you know what he did?” she asks, “he killed everyone in that hospital, including the only fucking person alive that could make a cure from you. That was Abby’s father. And Joel shot him in the hea𒊎d. That’s what he did.” It’s a grim assessment, underlining how he is seen by those who survived the massacre.

So, is this series aiming for longevity by flipping the roles, turning loveable Pedro Pascal into the villain of the piece? Not really, as while Abby’s justification for killing him is aired, so too is his reasoning for saving Ellie. Her calm response of “I know” to Nora’s claims, followed by Ellie meeting out the same kind of brutality as Abby, shows a kind of messy morality where “good” depends on yo♒ur point of view.

This is underlined by Joel’s justification when confessing what he did for Ellie in a flashback. Accepting that he’ll “pay the price” but that he’d do it𝓡 all over again “because I love you, in a way you can’t understand. Maybe you never will. But if that day should come, if you should have one of your own, well then, I hope you do a little better than me.” As Ellie looks to become a parent with Dina (Isabela Merced), she could understand his perspective sooner than she expected.

Season 2 ends from Abby’s point of view, something we will be seeing a lot of in season 3 if the next season sticks to the structure of the game. She may always be a villain to those who loved Joel, but the senselessness of his exit is taken away by telling a story where there are no heroes or villains, just people fighting for what they love. With that in mind, it will be easier to follow Abby 🐼into future episodes, instead of abandoning her in the 🎃way many did with Negan.

The Last of Us season 3 will continue to adapt The Last of Us Part 2, which follows Ellie as she sets out f⭕or revenge against Abby, who brutally murders Joel after it's revealed that the surgeon Joel killed at the end of season 1 was actually Abby's father. And not only that, he was also the only living doctor who was capable of making a cure for the Cordyceps virus. At the end of The Last of Us season 2, Ellie manages to kill all of Abby's friends before she and Abby have their first confrontation, which ends with Jesse's death. Abby then shoots Ellie before we cut to Abby waking up in The Stadium (WLF headquarters) with on-screen text that reads, "Seattle Day One."

Catherine O'Hara recently confirmed that season 3 wꦏill, in fact, center on Abby's story - which isn't a shock to anyone who has played Part 2. To explain, The 💯Last of Us Part 2 is told from Ellie and Abby's points of view, with the player controlling both characters. The timeline in the game is then split in two: Ellie's perspective: Jackson, Seattle Day One, Seattle Day Two, Seattle Day Three; Abby's perspective: Seattle Day One, Seattle Day Two, Seattle Day Three; and The Farm/Santa Barbara.

The switch to Abby's perspective shows us what she was doi💜ng during those three days that Elie and Dina were hunting her down, and gives us some backstory that makes us reluctantly sympathetic for her and her reasons for killing Joel. Day Three takes us back to the The Last of Us season 2 finale, but from Abby's perspective - the player hunts Ellie down, rather than hide from Abby.

During The Farm part of the game, we see Ellie's life with Dina and their baby. Their peaceful life is interrupted when Tommy pops up and tells Ellie that he's tracked Abby's whereabouts to Santa Barbara - and that she should absolutely go and kill her (which🅘 does seem a little out of pocket for TV show Tommy). E🥂llie does leave for Santa Barbara, which is where Abby and Ellie's final showdown takes place. The game ends from Ellie's perspective.

That being said, we can speculate that The Last of Us season 3 will start with Abby's Seattle Day One, Two, and Three - and potentially end there. Because a season 4 has been planned (though not yet renewed), it's possible that the fourth season will center on The Far♕m and Santa Barbara, saving Abby and Ellie's final confrontation until then (especially with what O'Hara said about season 3 focusing mainly on Abby's story). It's worth noting that season 2 does change the narrative quite a bit, what with telling us within just the first few minutes of the season that Abby plans to kill Joel - rather than keep her reasoning something of a mystery until we play through her pers𓂃pective.

Because of this, we can expect many more narrative changes as well as a crop of new characters. It's possible that showrunners and writers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann decided ꧂to save Lev and Yara, two members of Abby's crew who become essential to Ellie's story, for season 3 so as not to muddle or complicate the main plot.

The Last of Us season 3 cast

Though her friends are dead, season 3 will show us what Abby was doing in Seattle while Ellie and Dina were hunting her down. Because of this, Abby's crew will return - though we're not sure if Lev and Yara, two members of the WLF who become an important part o🍌f Ellie's life and story, will appear. Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced will no doubt return, as well as Jeffrey Wright's terrifying Isaac, who has more or less been made a larger antagonist in the show than he was in the game (and we're not complaining). We can also only speculate that deceased characters like Jesse and Jo𓆏el will appear in flashbacks.

෴It's also worth noting that Catherine O'Hara sai🤡d she "definitely" wouldn't be appearing in season 3, because of its central focus on Abby.

Mazin said ending the season this way was a risk, and this is definitely because the scene implies that Ellie has been killed by Abby (𒐪even though those of us who have played Part 2 know that this is no♕t the case).

"Now, what it means is we have to take risks as a television show, and HBO [has] to back us taking risks," Mazin continued. "But then again, we just did kill Pedro Pascal like they're they understand that this show is going to be a different show every season, which is a sort of a tricky thing to do when you're a hit show. You keep asking people like, 💧'I know you love this, we're taking it away and giving you this now,' and then, 'Oh, well, you know what? We actually really like this. Oh, that's nice.' Now we're giving you this, because that's how the story works, right?"

In the video game, it's a bit more harrowing given the fact that Abby doesn't get the chance to tell Joel why she's about to kill him - mainly because he tells her to shut up and get on with it.

The TV adaptation of the scene, which takes place in The Last of Us season 2𝔉 episode 2, sees Abby tell Joel that he killed 18 soldiers and one "unarmed doctor," asking if she remembers the latter. She explains that 🍸the doctor was her father, and point-blankly tells Joel she's going to kill him. And you'll never look at a golf club the same way again.

"That's an example of something that I wouldn't take off the table," says Harmon. "But I think the reason it hasn't happened is because of ꦅthe other rule, which is I would never force that just because."

For Marder, a "complete season" is one that does both episodic stoꦑrytelling and serial narratives. "I think there's always an eye on doing all of it in a season," he says. But that doesn't mean everythin🔯g always goes exactly to plan.

Brady Corbet's epic historical drama is one of the year's buzziest films, and received a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars. Taking place over 30+ years (and more than three hours of screen time), we learn that Tóth is both a Holocaust survivor and a celebrated architect. B♕rody is simply astonishing in the role: brilliant, obsessive, and radiating trauma. Hope comes in the form of Guy Pearce's industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren, who commissions Tóth to design a community center, but thei𒁏r relationship soon starts to disintegrate. A big movie in every sense, The Brutalist is a powerful achievement full of ideas and artistry.

She the People season 1

Tyler Perry is behind this new comedy series about the election of Mississippi's first Black li🦹eutenant governor. Antoinette Dunkerson, played by Terri J. Vaughn, must grapple with a sexist boss, while her family struggle to adapt to life in the public eye.

Perry is not exactly known for his subtle politi🌊cal commentary, and She the People doesn't look like it will focus on the nitty gritty of Antoinette's job, but it does look very funny. It's also a chance for Perry to work with familiar faces from his filmography, including Vaughn (who appeared in Daddy's Little Girls) and Jo Marie Payton (Meet the Browns). The season's first eight episodes are released this we🔜ek, with the second batch of eight following in August.

Directed by 𒐪The Perks of Being a Wallflower writer and director Stephen Chbosky, Nonnas is a witty and warm, but pleasingly grounded, film about surviving life's ups and downs. "In th🍨e game, when you are experiencing one of those flashbacks that are spread out throughout much more, they’re not all consolidated like this – for example, the 🎐museum one, whereas in the show it’s a few minutes long, in the game, it could be close to an hour if you’re exploring every different nook and cranny," he explained to . "You are Ellie, and you’re there with Joel, and they have lots of conversations that you could get into that headspace. You get in the flow state, and you’re experiencing this thing with the two of them."

He continued, "I think if we were to take, let’s say, the scenes that we wrote for this episode, and spread them out over the season, a few things would happen that I think would have a negative effect. There’s one, I don’t know if they would land, because they’re relatively༒ short. And two, you might not be missing Joel enough if we started spreading them throughout the episodes. We felt like for the show, we would get a lot more impact if we brought them all together and you could see them side by side and feel the deterioration of that relationship."

Of cours🌳e, we haven't seen Joel since episode 2, when he was brutally murdered by Abby. His absence has been felt in the three episodes since, which have revolved around Ellie and Dina's quest for revenge against Abby and her group of fellow WLF members as the pair attempt to track them down in Seattle.

"I also hﷺad concerns that the epiཧsodes would turn into a bit of a template," Druckmann added. "It’d be like, 'Okay, what’s the Joel flashback this week?' So, it was nice that the characters and the viewers could really miss this character, and then we get in the whole bunch for one last time."

Jeffrey Wright's double-crossing FEDRA agent turned WLF leader was introduced in episode 4 of season 2, where we see☂ him torturing a Seraphite at the WLF base in Seattle. Blood of Zeus season 3

The third and final season of Netflix's animated reinvention of Greek mythology drops this week. The Rehearsal season 2

"What you're about to witness is going to seem weird," says Nathan Fielder partway through the latest episode of The Rehearsal. He's no🅷t wrong! This incredible series – currently halfway through its second season – follows Fielder as he attempts to help real people navigate difficult circumstances by rehearsing situations wi🍬th them.

This week's episode involves a couple who have three clones of their late dog Achilles. The trouble is, none of them act like Achilles, leading Fielder to muse on nurture versus nature. Somehow, this spirals to Fielder shaving his entire body and attempting to live out the life of retired pilot Sully Sullenberger, who famously landed an Airbus A320 in♔ꦅ the River Hudson. Bizarre, absurd, and often jaw-dropping, there really is nothing else like The Rehearsal out there.

Zodiac

Fight Club, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... David Fincher has an impressive hit rate when it comes to making era-defining. Isaac (Jeffrey Wright) calls him thoughtless, and gets out of ꦬthe truck. Shortly after, he throws a bomb into the truck and locks the doors – killing everyone, including Peck.

Though you might know him mainly from Drake & Josh, Peck is pretty good at playing a jerk – dating all the way back to his role as a bully in 2004's Mea𒆙n Creek. He recently played Americ🧔an physicist Kenneth Bainbridge in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, and, funnily enough, he is currently filming Ice Age 6.

Gathering every little bit of information Martin has offered so far, we've compiled here everything we know about A Song of Ice and Fire's sixth book The༒ Winds of Winter, including release date, plot and characters. A seventh novel, officially titled A Dream of Spring, was announced as well as a continuation for the series, but let's tackle this one at a time.

We know Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire is a monumental work of fantasy, as well as the foundation for the world-conquering TV phenomenon that was Game of Thrones, but we are starting to get worried about the future of the saga. Particularly because Martin can't stop getting tangled in 🐬more projects – in May 2025, Lion Forge Entertainment announced that it's teaming up with the author for an adult animated feature adaptation of Howard Waldrop's A Dozen Tough Jobs.

Is it too late for The Winds of Winter? "That's the curse of my life here," Martin 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:said this year. "There's no doubt Winds of Winter is 13 years late. I'm still working on it. I have period♔s where I make progress and then꧒ other things divert my attention," he continued. Don't we know it.

The Winds of Winter release date speculation

This is the big question – and one that has a very simple answer: we currently don't know The Winds of Winter release date.

Originally, The Winds of Winter was intended to be published relatively soon after the fifth volume of A Song of Ice and Fire, A Dance with Dragons, and while the Game of Thrones TV show was still in production. In 2011, he told The Guardian that t🦄he novel would ta🅠ke at least another three years to complete, fatefully adding, "I hope it doesn't take me six years like this last one has." Ulp...

Since then, progress on the novel has been slow. Martin has provided sporadic updates and even shared chapters from the novel with fans, but there is no sign of when – or even if – the book will be completed and released.

What is The Winds of Winter plot?

We do at least have a🌺 stronger idea of what The Winds of Winter will be about. A Dance with Dragons ended with several major cliffhangers – not least the apparent death of Jon Snow – and the setup of two major conflicts.

Martin told that the cliffhangers "will be resolved very early" in the book, and that the book will "open with the two big battles that I was building up to, the battle in the ice and the battle at Meereen – the battle of Sla🐠ver's Bay. And then take it from there."

The battle of Slaver'🅺s Bay will see the army of Daenerys Targaryen (led by Barristan Selmy) fight a coalition of slavers who want to seize back control of Meereen (which Daenerys took in A Storm of Swords). The battle in the ice, meanwhile, sees the forces of Stannis Baratheon take on Roose Bolton's army.

, Martin has said that he originally intended for both these big battles to be the climax of A Dance with Dragons, "intercutting between the two of them, each told through se♓veral different points of view." He wasn't fully satisfied with these scenes, however, so nudged the chapters into the planned next book, The Winds of Winter.

Other elements that we know💛 will f🐻eature in the next book include:

The resolution to the betrayal of Jon Snow: Jon is murdered by his fellow 🎃members of the Night Watch in the mutiny at Castle Black. Something similar happens in the show, but Snow was resurrected relatively quickly. That doesn't mean the same will happen in the books, which lean towards a bleaker tone. Although it seems likely he will return, it's far from guaranteed.

Tyrion Lannister at the siege of Meereen: Although Tyrion has become an increasingly vital part of the story he's still y⛦et to actually meet Daenerys. Presumably that will happen in The Winds of Winter.

Winter is here: Martin has said that The Winds of Winter will venture further North than the previous novels, revealing in the SmarterTravel interview that, "What lies really north in my books – we haven't explored that yet, but we will in the last two books" as well as adding that we are "definitely going to see more of the Others" – the sinister force known as the White Wᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚalkers in the TV show.

Really, though, there are countless plot threads at this point that 🅰need addressing, thanks to the huge number of characters a🅷t play. Speaking of which...

Which characters will get point of view chapters?

Th﷽e A Song of Ice a♕nd Fire novels are told from the point of view of many different characters, with Martin swapping between them in each book.

Th♔e following characters are all known to have point-of-view chapters in The Winds of Winter. These were confirmed by Martin himself via preview chapters, public readings, and blog posts – though of course, everything is subject to change and we won't know for sure until/if the 🌺book is ever completed and published.

Will The Winds of Winter be the same as the TV show?

This is another case where we have to admit that we simply don't know – though there are some elemen﷽ts that will definitely be different as the Game of Thrones 🎃TV show veered in a different direction towards the end of season 4.

Martin, , has stated that "WINDS will be different in some ways, but will parallel the show in others. At this point, there are probably a dozen characters who are dead on the show but alive in the books, so it would be impossible for the two to remain the same. (Also, of course, there are characters in the books who have never even existed on the show, like Victarion Greyjoy, Jo𒁏n Connington, Penny, Arianne Martell... )"

Is The Winds of Winter the final book in the series?

Despite the many years it's taken to write The Winds of Winter, George R.R. Martin has long maintained that it꧙'s only the penultimate book in the A Song of Ice and Fire sequence. The final book, which will be the series' seventh volume, is titled A Dream of Spring.

This was not the book's original title: initially, it had the mor๊e ominous working title of A Tim🉐e For Wolves, with Martin revealing the title change in 2006. Very little is known as yet about A Dream of Spring. Martin has, however, hinted at the tone of the final book.

In a 2015 interview with , he revealed, "I've said before that the tone of the ending that I'm going for is bittersweet. I 𓃲mean, it'꧅s no secret that Tolkien has been a huge influence on me, and I love the way he ended Lord of the Rings. It ends with victory, but it's a bittersweet victory … All I can say is that's the kind of tone I will be aiming for. Whether I achieve it or not, that will be up to people like you and my readers to judge."

The last decade-and-a-bit has seen a dramatic change in Martin's fortunes as a writer. Another Simple Favor (Prime Video)

Anna Ke꧒ndrick and Blake Lively team up again for this long-awaited sequel to A Simple Favor. It's been seven years since the release of Paul Feig's excellent comedy thriller, which saw two very different women going from unlikely friends to sworn enemies, with one of them sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In the follow-up, which is now available to watch on Prime Video, Emily (Lively) is back to invite Stephanie (Kendrick) to her wedding in I♛taly. Given their past, Stephanie thinks her former friend is out for revenge. Or is she? "Along with the glamorous guests, expect betrayal to RSVP for aꦗ wedding with more twists and turns than the roads of Capri," reads the official synopsis of the film.

Decision to Leave (Hulu)

If you're in the mood for a masterpiece this weekend, Hulu just added Park Chan-wook's stunning thriller Decision to Leave. Sparks fly between detective and suspect, as Hae-joon struggles to decide if the woman he is falling for is innocent, or a murderess.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Disney Plus)

It's always a good time to (re)wach Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and, if you are subscribed to Disney Plus, now is the time. The movie introduced Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales as he's bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway and develops mysterious powers, becoming Spider-Man. However💟, he soon realizes that he is not the only one – the multiverse is vast, and contains endless versions of Spider-Man. Now, he has to team up with some of them to stop Kingpin from destroying his reality.

Based on the book Cooking for Kings: The Life of Antonin Carême, the First Celebrity Chef, the show follows the real-life story of Carême (played by Benjamin Voisin), who rose from humble beginnings in Paris to the height of culinary stardom in Napoleon’s Europe. Per the official synopsis: "While he dreams only of becoming the most famous chef in the world, his talent and ambitions attract the attention of reꦇnowned and powerful politicians who use him as a spy for France."

Recalling their first scene working together, Ramsey said in the piece with Harington t💜hat they helped him out with his lines. This new French-language show has a delicious premise. But Carême isn't just a show about cooking. Along the way, the beloved chef is recruited as a spy fo🧸r France, and his adventures will force him to choose between a life of wealth, women, and fame or treading a more dangerous path.

The Four Seasons

Andor season 2

The Eternaut season 1

Juan Salvo (Ricardo Darín) and his friends are relaxing one summer's night in Buenos Aires when it unexpectedly starts to snow. Not only does the world freeze over, but the snow is toxic, killing anyone who is exposed to it.

That's just the beginning of the survivors' problems, however – it turns out that the snow is the first wave of a full-on alien invasion of Earth. Filmed in Buenos♓ Aires, and in close collaboration with the families of the comic's creators, this looks like a faithful and gripping retelling of a mind-bending science fiction classic.

Conclave

In the wake of the death of Pope Francis, one of last year's best films has suddenly been propelled to the number 1 spot on Prime Video. D𒀰irected by Edward Berger, Conclave is a smart, cerebral thriller that's also surprisingly witty – there'sꦉ more than a dash of Mean Girls about some of these characters. But where it really excels is in exploring the complex mix of politics and religion that takes place in the run up to seeing that plume of white smoke.

Annihilation

This 2018 adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer's modern classic sci-fi novel was on Netflix until recently. What they find there is strange, beautiful, inexplicable and terrifying all at once. With touches of surreal horror♈ and some startlingly weird imagery, this is both a thought-provoking thriller with a provocativ🐻e final act, and a haunting exploration of grief.
