The fact that Academy members haven🧸't been tasked with watching every officially nominated film in each category has long been a contentious aspect of Oscar judging. In year𒁏s past, judges could cast a vote for Best Picture, for example, without having actually seen all the films.
In what is sure to be a decision that raises eyebrows, both among those who are for and those who are against the decision, that's now going to be different – though the Academy's press release, which outlines the new rule, doesn't give any indication how a voter might prove that they🌞've seen all the films (or whether they'll even be asked to pr♊ove it).
Also of note in the release is a bit about how the Academy will treat films that use generative AI, saying in somewhat oblique terms that using it in the creation of a film will "neither help nor harm the chances of ach🐲ieving a nomination," and that "the Academy and each branch will judge the achievement, ta🥃king into account the degree to which a human was at the heart of the creative authorship when choosing which movie to award."
These are the biggest changes to t♓he rules for the upcoming ceremony.
The previous Oscars were held on March 2, with dark horse independent film Anora winning five awards including Best Picture and Best Actress for its star Mikey Ma🗹dison.
The ceremonies for the 2025 Oscar season will take place on March 15, 2026. For more awards fun, check out our guides to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best Oscar-winning movies and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:biggest Oscar snubs.
]]>"I was so happy to see Zoe acknowledged as the world-class performer we, in the Avatar family, have always known her to be," he told . "Her acceptance speech was a noble reminde꧑r of what immigrant families bring to the US and to Hollywood."
Cameron was referencing how in her speech Saldaña spoke about how proud she was to be a "child of immigrant parents". The Marvel star added: "The fact that I’m getting an award for a role where I got to sing and speak in Spanish – my grandmother, if she we𓆏re here, she would be so delighted, this is for my grandmother."
This isn't the first time that Cameron has gone out of his way to praise Saldaña, who revealed earlier this year that he got in touch after her Golden Globes win𒈔.
"I was sitting in the audience, and I received a message from James Cameron, who’s somewhere in New Zealand right now, cutting Avatar: Fire and Ash," 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:the star said in the press room after 𒅌her win. "And he, after all these years, believes in me. So that, t♛o me, nourishes my desire to continue growing as an artist."
Saldaña plays Neytiri in the Avatar franchise, a role that she first took when she was in her 20s. She recently shared that she'd made 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:a 26-year commitment♋ to making the films, which have several sequels on the way, including 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Avatar: Fire and Ash, which is the third movie in the franchise and releaseꦛs later this year.

]]>Madison also tearfully t♛hanked the cast, crew, the community of Brighton Beachꦆ, her fellow nominees, and shouted out director Sean Baker, saying, "This is all because of you."
Madison beat Wicked's Cynthia Erivo, Emilia Perez's Karla Sofía Gascón, The Substance's Demi Moore, and I'm Still Here's Fernanda Torres to take home the award. Her win was something of a surprise as Moore had been the clear favorite going into the final awards ceremony, but Anora had a late surge of popularity with voters. She also won the BAFTA award for Best Actress at the 2025 ceremony, 𒉰which she dedicated to sex workers.
In Anora, Madison plays Anora 'Ani' Mikheeva, a dancer living and working in Brighton Beach who is introduced to Ivan 'Vanya' Zakharov, the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch. The pair begin a whirlwind romance after he hires her to become his girlfriend, which quickly escalates when th💯ey get married on a whim in Vegas. When Vanya's family find out about the nuptials, they are none to pleased in this wild comedy drama.
Speaking to GamesRadar+ for our 澳洲幸运5♉开奖号码历史查询:Big Screen Spotlight piece on the film, Madison said: "Ani is a very different character from anyone I've played, but I think that the stunt training that I was able to do in preparati🍷on for Scream definitely helped me doing my own stunts for Anora. The physicality of the character, it was the most challenging thing I've ever had to do, honestly."

]]>Anora is Baker's seventh feature film after his previous success with movies like The Florida Projecﷺt, Red Rocket, and Tangerine. It follows Ani (played by Mikey Madison), a stripper and escort from Brighton Beach in New York City. She finds herself in a whirlwind romance with Vanya (Mark Eydelshteyn), the wealthy son of a Russian oligarch after they meet at her club. What follows is a wild comedy-drama as Vanya's parents find out what happened and are not very pleased.
Baker's win is something of a surprise, after The Brutalist's Brady Corbet has taken home a huge chunk of the wins during the awards season so far. However, he did win the Independent Spirit Award and the Directors Guild of America Awar♏d.
澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Speaking to GamesRadar+ about Anora for our Big Screen Spotlight series, Baker said: "The unဣfair stigma applied to sex work has not gone away. My🔯 hope is that continuing to make these stories is helping to chip away at that stigma."

]]>He also asked them to turn off the music, extending his speech (the way Kieran Culꦫkin j♓okingly said he would at the SAG Awards). He continued by saying the film is a reminder to "not let hate go unchecked."
The actor beat A Complete Unknown's Timothée Chalamet, Conclave's Ralph Fiennes, Sing Sing's Colman Domingo, and The Apprentice's S🅺ebastian Stan in the category. Brody was always the frontrunner for his moving performance as Hungarian-Jewish Holocaust survivor László Tóth in Brady Corbet's epic drama.
The film charts Tóth's life after the Second World War when he emigrates to America. However, living penniless and without his wife, life is hard for former architect Tóth until he meets a wealthy businessman who changes his life. He starred in the movie with Felicity Jones and Gu𓆉y Pearce, who were also nominated in the Best Supporಞting Actress and Best Supporting Actor categories, respectively.
Bꦐrody gives a moving and powerful performance in the roleꦕ, which has been a hit this awards season. The Academy Award completes his run of winning the BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Critics' Choice awards. The only major gong he lost out on was the SAG Award, which went to Chalamet.
This is also Brody's second Oscar win, after he became the youngest winner in the category at 29. That time, he won for his role as𝓡 Władysław Szpilman in Roman🎀 Polanski's 2002 war drama The Pianist.

]]>Coppola's box-office bomb, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Megalopolis, earned six 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Razzie nominations this year, including Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay. Unsurprisingly, the man behind The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now (which are both pretty good, so we hear) took the lat🥂est "victory" in his stride, posting his thoughts on the news via .
"I am thrilled to accept the Razzie award in so many important categories for @megalopolisfilm, and for the distinctive honor of being nominated as the worst director, worst screenplay, and worst picture at a time when so 🌟few have the courage to go against t꧙he prevailing trends of contemporary moviemaking!" Coppola wrote.
The director went on to give his analysis of current events, saying, "In this wreck of a world today, where ART is given scores as if it were professional wrestling, I chose to NOT follow the gutless rules laid down by an industry so terrified of risk that despite the enormous pool of young talent at its disposal, may not create pictures that will be relevant and alive 50 years from now.” We can only assume that even though this was a written response, Coppola had a microphone in his hand that was now halfway to bein⭕g dropped in slow motion.
As with ꦅall traditional award speeches, Coppola rounded things off by thanking his cast, which included Jon Voight, who also won a Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor. “What an honor to stand alongside a great and courageous filmmaker like Jacques Tati who impoverished himself completely to make one of cinema’s most beloved failures, PLAYTIME! My sincere thanks to all my brilliant colleaguꦫes who joined me to make our work of art, MEGALOPOLIS, and let us remind ourselves us that box-office is only about money, and like war, stupidity and politics has no true place in our future.”
Besides Megalopolis taking home some of the shiny fruit-shaped trophies, Madame Web also earned the title of Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay, with its star, Dakota Johnson, nabbing the credit of Worst Actress. As it stands, Coppola's written thanks is up there with one of the greats, right alongside Halle Berry, who attended the ceremony back in 2005 for her performance in Catwoman while bringing her own Oscar that she won in 2002 for Monster's Ball along for the celebrations. Check out that moment in movie history below, and once you're done wiping the tears away, get a look at all the nominations for this year's Oscars here.

]]>"I found it interesting," Bassett said in a new inter🎶view with . "Interesting 🍌that I wouldn’t be allowed to be disappointed at an outcome where I thought I was deserving."
Bassett was nominated for playing grieving m🧸other Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, making her the first actor to ever be nominated for an Academy Award for a Marvel movie. It was her second nom✨ination in her almost 40-year career.
Jamie Lee Curtis took home♑ the gong for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once instead, and Bassett's reaction ♔to her win went viral.
"I love applauding people," she added, saying that she thought she🐎 had put in the work to be recognized, before correcting herself. "No, I have put in: put in the time, put in good work over time. I didn’t think that was a gift.ꦬ I thought it was a given."

]]>The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:2025 Oscar nominations almost invited another member to the ranks too, as Emilia Pérez landed 13 nominations, just shy of the 14 nominations record. So what has made that threshold♛? We go into the most Oscar nominated movies below, as well as what movies have won the most Oscars in the past too. And who knows, maybe 2025 will shake up this list further.
Three films share the joint honor of being the most Oscar nominated movies of all time. The 🎐record is 14 nominations, which All About Eve, La La Land, and Titanic all received in their respective years.
It's all very well getting nominated, but if you don't win, it doesn't count for much. Only Titanic, of those highest nominated movies, actually makes it into the category of the most Oscars won by a single movie. The record of 11 wins is shared between Cameron's epic, 1959's Ben-Hur, and Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King🍸.

Since the Razzies were introduced back in 1981, film fans have described the event as "mean-spirited", "petty", and "unfunny". Many have call🦹ed for it to be canceled over the years, too. In the past, some people have won Oscars and Razzies in the same year, including Aladdin composer Alan Menken who picked up an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Razzie for Worst Original Song – for Aladdin and Newsies, respectively – in 1993. Sandra Bullock won Worst Actress for her role in All About Steve in 2010, before picking up the Best Actress gong for The Blind Side the very next day.
Th𝔉e Razzies was one forced to issue an apology over its "insensitive" nomination of Firestarter actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who was just 12 years old at the time, and rescind an "award" given to Bruce Willis in 2021 after his family disclosed he'd been diagnosed with aphasia.

]]>Follo🌠wing his win, Farrell was asked in ♏the awards' press room how it feels to join such a select list of winners, which includes Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix. Both actors were previously honored with a Golden Globe (and an Oscar) for playing the Joker in The Dark Knight and Joker, respectively.
"You mentioned two actors who are, Iꦚ think, for my money, two of the most extraordinarily talented and gifted and just brilliant artists in films that I've ever had the fortune to observe and be affected by," he started (via ).
"What Heath did in Chris Nolan's Dark Knight was extraor💯dinary, and will live on for future generations. And what [Phoenix] did with the Joker was as exemplified by all the awards that he won, in the Oscars. It was extraordinary.
"It was so special, both of them. So to have your name just uttered in the same sentence as those performances, honestly, it's lovely, but still I'm more of just a fan of it all! I don't feel like I'm part of that pantheon. Joaquin and Heath, just two extraordinary and hꦿonest great actors."
Now with a Golden Globe, Colin Farrell might be more inclined to come back for a second season of The Penguin. When asked by 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Total Film last September, he wasn't very sure.
"Don't get me wrong – I loved it – but it got in on me a little bit. By the end of it, I was bitching and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I fucking wanted it to be finished. I tried to remind them that I had 'grumpy gratitude.' I was still grateful, and still honored," he said.
"Lauren [LeFranc, showrunner] saꩲid, 'Look, if I could find a way that makes sense, would you talk about it?' And I said, 'Absolutely.' And maybe in aꦺ year I would. But when I finished I was like, 'I never want to put that fucking suit and that fucking head on again.'"
At least we'll get to see Farrell's Penguin again on the big screen, as the actor has signed up for three Batman films including the upcoming 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Batman 2.

]]>showcases a hand-picked reel o꧙f the best cat videos pulled from public submissions. The best part? The event raises money for cat charities, animal welfare organizations, and shelters. In fact, since 2019, the event has made over $150,000 for local shelters and more, and even encourages attendees to adopt a kitty for themselves as well.
This year, the 73-minute reel consists of videos of varying length, tone, and subject matter. No matter what kind of feline fan you are, there is something for everyone from grumpy cats, feisty cats, musically talented cats, and even a kitty climbing the wall whilst 'Spider Pig' from 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Simpsons Movie plays in the background.
The lucky person who gets to choose which cat videos appear is Will Braden. In an interview with , Braden revealed that he watches 15,000 cat videos per year and selects about 200 for the reel. The whole process from picking clips to displaying them tak🍰es him all year long. "It's my full-time job. My business cards say I watch cat videos," he said. But even so, it sounds like the dream, right? "As long as people laugh, and as long as we raise money for cats in need," added Braden. "Then I'll have the greatest job ever for as long as I want it."
But it looks like Cat Video Fest has some competition as , led by pet wellness advocate Tracie Hotchner, is also making its way through New York City this October. The festival will screen a 90-minute film made up of cat-themed filmed from animated shorts to mini-do♛cumentaries, all hos🍎ted by a panel of cat anchors called Cats Eye Witness News. Let the kitty wars commence! All for a good... paws, of course.

]]>Just like that, the 96th Academy Awards have been and gone, but that doesn't mean we can't look back on some of its best bits. From a perfect pooch to a naked WWE star, here are our picks of the 10 best moments from t澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:he 2024 Academy Awards.
Who would have thought that the Oscars’ most esteemed guest would be four-legged and furry? After much debate as to whether or not the canine co-star would be allowed to attend the awards, Messi the dog from Anatomy of a Fall did in fact appear at the ceremony. The seven-year-old Border Collie even earned a shoutout from host Jimmy Kimmel during his monologue: "Messi, who even though he’s a dog, may have given the performance of the year in Anatomy of a Fall." Good boy, ꦐMessi!
Now, we all knew that Ryan Gosling would bring the Kengery to the 2024 Academy Awards with a pink-tastic performance of 'I’m Just Ken', but what was surprising was that some of his fellow 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Barbie castmates also made an appearance. Ken variat🌞ions Scott Evans, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Ncuti Gatwa all took to the stage in tuxedoes, as well as musicians Mark Ronson, Slash, and Wolfgang Van Halen. Not only this, but the performance took inspiration from Marilyn Monroe’s 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend' performance in the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, with Gosling tra𒊎ding Monroe’s iconic pink ballgown for a fuchsia suit. Forget beach, we think Ken’s new job should be popstar.
Talk about bringing a little bit of spice to the ceremony. Whilst introducing the category for Best Costume Design, WWE star-turned-actor John Cena threw caution (and clothing) to the wind as he stripped down on stage to present the awa🎃rd. This happened after host Jimmy Kimmel invit💜ed Cena onstage to pay homage to the infamous 1974 Oscars streaker incident, but, luckily for the audience, the star quickly changed into something more appropriate… a toga.
It was a big night for Yorgos Lanthimos’ 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Poor Things, which took home four awards, one being Best Actress in a Leading Role for Emma Stone. This is the second Oscar the star has won, but although it wasn't her first rodeo, the win – and the night as a whole – seemed to be a bit overwhelming for her. When it came time🍌 to accept her award, Stone seemed to be visibly shocked and lost for words, and the star had even ripped open the back of her dress, which presenter Charlize Theron tried to fix on stage. The drama continued off stage as Stone was seen rushing from the sidelines back to the ceremony when she realized another category that Poor Things was nominated in was being announced. Emma Stone, we hope you never change.
It was a clean sweep for Christopher Nolan’s epic 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Oppenheimer, which took home a staggering seven Oscars after being nominated in 13 categories. The wins included 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Cillian Murphy, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Robert Downey Jr. to name a few, as well as 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Best Director for Nolan. Although a lot of us saw this coming, this is a big deal for Nolan as this is the first Oscar the director has won in that particular category. That’s quite shocking, right? After helming iconic flicks such as 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Dark Knight, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Inception, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Tenet, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Interstellar, 🍸it's about time the British 🅰director finally took home gold, and we are so glad to see it.
After the cinematic battle Barbeheimer ruled summer 2023, it felt rather serendipitous to see the two movies face off at the Oscars. Oppenheim🐓er’s Emily Blunt and Barbie’s Ryan Gosling represented both films when they hit the stage to pay tribute to stunt performances and poke fun at their big-screen rivalry. Blunt pointed out that the 2023 contest doesn't really matter now, as the two movies were not even nominated in the same categories.
🐼"It's true, you guys are doing very well, congratulations, but I think I've figured out why they called it Barbenheimer and didn't call it Oppenbarbie," Gosling joked. "I think you guys are at the tail end of it because you were riding Barbie's coattails all summer." The Oppie actor made sure to have the last word with, "Thanks for Ken-splaining that to me, Mr. I-need-to-paint-my-abs-on-to-get-nominated, you don't see Robert Downey Jr. doing that. Robert Downey did not paint his abs on." Oh, what fun.
The ceremony saw multiple movie reunions and familiar faces, but what was most exciting was seeing Beetlejuice’s Micheal Keaton and Catherine O’Hara reunite on stage thirty-five years after their Tim Burton film debuted. We don’t know about you, but that has made us extra pumped for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Beetlejuice 2 releasing later this year. We also saw Keaton catch up with his Batman castmates (or shou🍸ld we say 'nemeses') Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played villains the Penguin and Mr. Freeze in the franchise. The two baddies locked eyes with the Bat whilst presenting, adding, "We’ll see you a🐼t the Governor's Ball!" You’d better suit up, Keaton – it looks like Gotham may be in trouble again.
Unsurprisingly, the 2024 Academy Awards saw some truly moving speeches that pulled on our heartstrings, including first-time win acceptance speeches from the likes of Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy, who won Best Actor in a Leading Role, and director Christopher Nolan. But the most heartfelt was from 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Holdovers' Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who won the award for Best Supporting Actress. Rudolph was already in tears when she made it to the stage, where she then thanked God, her mother, and "all the people who have stepped in my path and been there for me," adding, "I pray to God that I get to do this more than once. I thank you for ඣseeing me." Just beautiful.
French director Justine ♓Triet may have just won herself a place in the Oscars' Hall of Fame, not only for her fi☂lm Anatomy of a Fall winning Best Original Screenplay, but for her choice of walkout music. To fans’ delight, Triet and writer Arthur Harari walked to the podium to a live orchestra version of a cover of 50 Cent's P.I.M.P., a song that plays a major role in the film. Once on stage, the very real Triet showed us just how relatable she is with her acceptance speech. "This is a crazy year, in contrast with what it started out as before. Stuck in the house with two kids. It was lockdown, and we hooked them up to cartoons to have peace. And there was no line, I think, between work and diapers," said an emotional Triet.
Now, it wouldn't be an awards ceremony without the 🍒audience at home getting involved the best way they know how: memes. And boy, is there some first-class Oscar co𒈔ntent out there on social media right now. From unfortunate tumbles to genius movie references, we have listed some of our favorite Oscar-related memes below.

Accepting the award, Stone admitted s♔he'd had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction as her dress split. "I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken,'" she laughed.
"The other night I was panicking that this could happen, and Yorgos said, 'Take yourself out of it," she continued. "And he’s right. This is about a team that came together to make something bigger than the sum of its parts. I’m so deeply honoured to share this with every person who poured their love a♓nd brilliance into this film. Thank you, Yorgos, for giving me the part of a lifetime in Bella Baxter.”🍌
It marks Stone's second Academy Award win, having pi๊cked up the gong for her role as Mia in Damien Chazelle's modern-day musical La La Land back in 2017. 🉐In Poor Things, she plays Bella Baxter, a young woman who finds herself learning the ways of the world again after being resurrected by Willem Dafoe's pioneering surgeon Godwin.
Of Stone's co-stars, Mark Ruffalo was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category, but lost out to Robert Downey Jr. As for the film, it was also up for Best Costume, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Original Score, Best Cinematographꦑy, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture.

Brown, Barbie's Ryan Gosling, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Poor Things' Mark Ruffalo, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Killers of the Flower Moon's Robert De Niro. It marks Downey Jr's first-ever Oscars win, having been previously nominated for his roles in Chaplin and Tropic Th💫under.
He was given the award by his Iron Man 2 co-star Sam Rockwell, in a reunion we loved to see. "I'd like to thank my terrible childhood and the academy in that order," ꦓhe said before he also thanked his wife in a very touching moment, and he shouted out his cꩲo-stars. "What we do is meaningful, and the stuff that we decide to make is important."
Also starring the likes of Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer explores how the eponymous nuclear physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer was tasked with setting up the Manhattan Project during World War II, and subsequently created the atomic bomb. Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, the man who set out to destroy Oppenheimer's reputation, in iꦰt, acting as an antagonist of sorts to Murphy's main man.
Outside of the acting categories, in which Blunt and Murphy also got nods, Oppenheimer was 🎃up for Best Costume, Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Director, and Best Picture.

Not everyone who ෴we expected would be nominated for this year's awards made the final cut...
The biggest snub was Barbie's Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig. Neither were nominated for Best Actor or Best Director. The move caused quite the stir, with Ryan Gosling even sharing a statement on it. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Read all about that here...
More nominees have arrived🐷! Paul Giamatti and Danie𒐪lle Brooks are here...
I've been trawling the internet to find the best triꦺvia about this year's Oscars. Here's some of my fa🐟vorites:
Another big arrival! Anatomy o👍f a Fall star Messi is already seated inside and re💟ady for the ceremony. This is good news as there had been some reports that talented four-legged actor would not be allowed to attend. Pawesome news.

Best director nominee Christopher Nolan has also arrived, ahead of the ceremony. He's looking like the one to beat at the moment, so this could be a big nigh💙t for him and the rest of the Oppen-homies!
Anothe𝄹r big arrival! Cillian Murpཧhy is here. Could tonight mark his first Oscar win?

We're now just a couple of minutes out from the c🌳eremony! Grab your popcorn and any last minute snacks and get ready for some tearful speeches and lots of glamour...
After a slight delay, the 96th Acꦡademy Awards are underway! We begin with a montage of the nominees for th🎃is year's ceremony.
Host Jimmy Kimmel is here and his monologue is predictably full of jokes, and no one is safe. Greta Gerwig gets a call out for her snub (as do the voters for not securing her nominatജion), a quip about Cillian Murphy's name, and a very on the nose Robert Downey Jr. joke.
And, of course, the🃏re's a quip about the length of this year's nominees...
After a lengthy opening monolo🌺gue, the first award of the night is 𒈔here: Best Supporting Actress!
The winner of the first actor is The Holdovers&ap꧅os; Da'Vine Joy Randolph. She was🌌 up against Oppenheimer's Emily Blunt, The Color Purple's Danielle Brooks, Barbie's America Ferrerꩵa, and Nyad's Jodie Foster.
Next up is Anima🐻ted Short Film and Animated Feature, awarded by Furiosa꧙'s Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The former goes to: War is Over! Inspired by the Music of Jo💟hn & Yoko
The latter goes to: 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Boy and the Heron

Dur💦ing the break between awa🧜rds, let's reflect on Da'Vine Joy Randolph's incredibly moving speech.
"God is so good," she said. "I didn’t think I was supposed to be doing this as a career. I📖 started off as a singer, and my mother said go across the street to that theatre department – there’s something for you there."
Now it's time for the award fo🤡r Best Original Screenplay. The winner is: Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet and Arthur Hariri.
Accepting the award, Triet said she thinks 🌄it will help her "through her⛎ midlife crisis".
Keeping with the screenplays, the next award is 🧜Best Adapted Screenplay. The Oscar goes to American Fiction.
Cord Jefferson picks up the award and in his speech he thanks the cast and crew of the film. "I've been talking a lot about how many people passed on this movie," he shared, adding that he doesn📖't want to seem vindictive, but wants Hollywood to give more people a chance. "Instead of making one $200 million dollar movie, try making 20 $10 million dollar movies."
We've got our first perform♍ance of the night. From Barbie, it's a beautiful stripped back version of 'What Was I Made For?' performed by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell. Aside from a pink spotlight, the staging is low-key, and earlier on thܫe red carpet Eilish says this was intentional. She wants the emotional song to "speak for itself."

Make-up and hairstyling is next.꧋ Pre💛senting the award is dynamite duo of Catherine O'Hara and Michael Keaton.
The winner of this one is Poor Things!
Straight onto the next award then, it's the Oscar for Production Design. Poor Things wins 🧜again! Shona Heath and James Price were there to accept the award.
Well, this isn't a moment we thought🦩 was coming, but John Cena is here and he's naked. Yes, you read that right. As part of Jimmy's monologue, he recalled a streaking moment in the past, and Cena was recruited for the bit. "The male body is🌌 not a joke," he said before giving out the award starkers.
Look🐷 we have a picture for you, but you might wꦅant to avert your eyes. Don't say we didn't warn you...
Oh yes... and a naked John Cena presente⛄d the award for Best Costume Design 😳 #Oscars2024 📷 Getty Images pic.twitter.com/cbhQQKQ9ts
Amid all of🦩 that, the Oscar for the Best Costume Design was given out. That one went to Poor Things, which has been on a great run for the past few categories. Could this mean the tide is turning in their favor? We'll have to wait and see...
We've got a second performance of one of the nominees for Best Original Song. From Killers of the Flower Moon, it's 'Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)'. It's performed by Osage songwriter Scott ♏George and Osage singers. The performance had everyone on their feet with a standing ovation.
Now it's time for International Feature Film. The Oscar goes to♏ The Zone of Interest.
Jonathan Glazer accepted the award ꦅfor this one, giving a poignant speech. "Our film shows were dehumanization leads," he sai💯d.
This win also marks the first time that the UK has won i☂n this category.
We ha෴ve a real-life Barbenheimer here as Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt unite on stage. Their exchange is probably the funniest moment of the ceremony so far, complete with kensplaining, as they introduce a segment on stu𝓀nt performers.

It's time for a Twins reunion: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are here to presജent the next award. The pair bond over both tryi꧃ng (and failing) to kill Batman, before directing their ire to the Dark Knight himself as they fired off insults at stone-faced Michael Keaton.

Now it's time for the Best Documentaries, presented by Bꦡarbie stars America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon.
The Last Repair Shop won the Oscar for Best Docum𓆏entary Short.
20 Days ﷽in Mariupol won the Oscar for Best Dꦯocumentary Feature.

False alarm! We've got the announcement for Best Sound now. The Oscar goes to The Zone of Interest. Accepting the award are Johnnie Burn and Taꦗrn Willers.
Ryan Gosling's performance of 'I'm Just Ken' was something to behold𝓰. Wearing a pink sparkly suit, a cowboy hat, and sunglasses, he took to the stage with Ken dancers, much to the amusement of Margot Robbie. If that wasn't en꧑ough, we got Ken cameos, singalongs from Greta Gerwig and Emma Stone, and a guitar solo from Slash.

We've rounded up the biggest talking points of the night below, so you can get up to speed on the 2023 Oscars at a glan𓃲ce.
It came as no surprise that Everything Everywhere All at Once walked away with the most wins of the night – the film had been a frontrunner for the entire awards race and was widely expected to bag some major wins. Its hugely successful evening saw the film take home the gold for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Best Director (Daniels), and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Best Picture.
In a big surprise, two of the juggernauts of the race, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Banshees of Inisherin and the Stevenꦕ Spielberg-directed The Fabelmans, went home empty handed. Banshees was up for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Colin Farrell), Best Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan), Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon), Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score.
澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Fabelmans, meanwh😼ile, was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design.
The most who෴lesome win 🌞of the night went to Ke Huy Quan, who got the trophy for Best🌼 Supporting Actor for his role as Waymond in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Visibly emotional, Quan gave a seriously heartfelt speech.
"My mom is 84 years old and she's at home watching. Mom, I just won an Oscar," Quan said in the Dolby Theatre. "My journey started on a boat, I spent a year in a refugee camp, and someh﷽ow, I ended up here, on Hollywood's biggest stage. They say, stories like this only happen in the movies. I cannot believe it's happening to me. This is the American dream."
He also thanked his "Goonies brother for life," ♏Jeff Cohen, who is Quan's lawyer.
If that wasn't emotional enough, the actor later reunited with his Indiana Jone⛄s and the Temple of Doom co-star on♔stage when Everything Everywhere All at Once won Best Picture. The duo enthusiastically embraced –꧅ see the moment below.

Jamie Lee Curtis has been an icon of the screen for decades, but has never won an Oscar before. That all changed at the 2023 ceremony when 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:she was♑ awarded Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was a relatively su🌳rprising win in a competitive category, with Curtis's Everything Everywhere co-star Stephanie Hsu also nominated, alongside Angela Bassett, Kerry Condon, and Hong Chau.
Angela Bassett was one of the favorites to win Best Supporting Actress for her role as Queen Ramonda in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Although she didn't take home the gold, with the award instead going to Jamie Lee Curtis, she did get a sweet shout out from her 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan and his Creed 3 co-star Jonat꧟han Majors. Check out the moment below.

Another fiercely competitive category was Best Actor, with the winner too close to call in the run up to the main event. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Brendan Fraser ജended up winning gold, though, for his performance in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Whale. He was up against Paul Mescal for Aftersun, Bill Nighy for Living, Colin Farrell for The Banshees of Inisherin, and Austin Butler for Elvis.

Yeoh has won for her performance in A24's Everything Everywhere All At Once, which is also nominated for Best Picture. "This is a beacon o🗹f hope," Yeoh said in her acceptance spee🍃ch. "And ladies, don't ever let anyone tell you that you're past your prime."
Everything Everywhere All At Once follows a Chinese-American immigrant named Evelyn (Yeoh) who, while being audited by the IRS, must connect with parallel universe versions of herself in order to stop a power🉐ful entity from destroying the multiverse. ]]>Quan wins for his performance as Waymond in the multiverse-bending drama comedy 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Everything Everywhere All At Once. Starring opposite Michelle Yeoh as her loving husband, Quan played multiple versions of the same role in the hit movie directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheꦉinert. The win is no surprise as Quan has been winning most major awards, including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
The major win also marks a huge comeback for Quan, who stopped acting for 30 years. After struggling to land roles following playing Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Data in The Goonies, he went on to wor﷽k as a stunt coordinator and assistant director before returning for Everything Everywhere All At Once.
"They say stories like this only happen in the movies," Quan said during his speech. "I can't believe this is happening to me. This is t𒁏he American dream." The actor also thanked his mother and brother and his "Goonies brother for life," Jeff Cohen.

The awards ceremony has drawn criticism for its lack of diversity in this year's winners. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Everything Everywhere All at Once was nominated in 10 categories, the same as The Banshees of Inisherin, ꦰbut only took home the gong for Best Editing. She has won two Tony awards: one for Best Featured Actress in a Play in 2001 for King Hedley II and another in 2010 for Best Leading Actress in a Play for her performance in Fences. Her Best Audiobook, Narratio꧟n & Storytelling Recording Grammy finishes the quartet and launches her to EGOT status.
"I wrote this book to honor the six year old Viola, to honor he🍎r, her life, her joy, her trauma, everything. And it has just been such a journey. I just EGOT!" Davis said during her Grammy acceptance speech, to massive applause.
Dav💃is' upcoming projects include Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes, as well as Air, set to be directed by Ben Affleck and focusing on💯 the story of Michael Jordan's association with Nike.
An EGOT means an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony win. There are only 18 EGOT win𓄧ners total, now including Davis. The rest of the list includes the likes of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, and Robert Lopez – the latter is also the first pers🦂on to win all four awards twice.

]]>So, now that the snow has settled, Total Film picks eight favorites from the festival, including another star-affirming turn from Jonathan Majors, an intimate relationship drama, your new favorite horror fil🐓m, a must-see documentary and a sports movie unlike no other. It’s been a strong year, so we’ll also throw in some honor♛able mentions.
Gael García Bernal gets the role of his career (and becomes an early contender for next year’s Best Actor crop) in a feelgood sports movie based on a true story. It manages to avoid all the risible tropes you’d expect though, as gay luchador Saúl (García Bernal) takes on an exótico persona, determined to break the rule that these flamboyant drag characters can’t ever win in Mexican wrestling. There’s plenty of pathos a♔mid the air-punching moments, and documentary director Roger Ross Williams (Life Animated) confidently grapples with heavywe⛎ight themes of family, legacy and sexuality in his dramatic debut.
Lady Macbeth director William Oldroyd’s long-awaited sophomore feature debuted to critical raves. Despite drawing surface comparisons to Carol – mainly for the May-September attraction between an ingénue and a glamorous older woman, and the chilly, mid-century setting – Eileen proved to be its own unique beast. In ’60s Massachusetts, prison worker Eileen (Thomasin McKenzie) becomes besotted with the new staff psychologist Dr. Rebecca St. John (Anne Hathaway, on magnificent form). A late-breaking gear shift changes everything, but throughout, the production design and period detail are immaculate. If you haven’t read the book it&a𝓰pos;s ba𝔉sed on (by Ottessa Moshfegh, who has co-written the screenplay with Luke Goebel), go in cold.
Netflix snapped up this cruel, smart, water-cooler thriller for $20m and it’s easy to see why. Writer-director Chloe Domont’s voice recalls the verve of Emerald Fennell as she unpicks gender politics, consent and ambition in a bad romance as a pair of competitive financial analysts (Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich) secretly date and publicl🌳y fight when a promotion comes between them. Tracking toxic workplaces and masculinity, weaponized𒁃 sexuality and the corrosive nature of jealousy, Fair Play has arch fun with performance (Eddie Marsan is a standout as a vile CEO), soundtrack and cinematography. And though it’s entrenched in Wall Street-speak (that impenetrable lingo of The Big Short and Margin Call), the conversation here is about gender double standards and the blade-sharp edge of love and hate.
What do you get if you channel incel rage, ‘Stan’ fandom and steroid abuse? Jonathan Majors’ amateur bodybuilder Killian Maddox – a damaged man whose heat-seeking crusade for body perfection and fame is dangerously wrapped up in parental trauma, casual racism and social disenfranchisement. Writer/director Elijah Bynum’s ability to evoke dry-mouthed anxiety in an audience is a thing of terrible beauty, the discomfort akin to the experience of watching preceding festival hits 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Uncut Gems or 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Calm with Horses. Heartbreaking and horrifying in equal measure, Majors’ fractured, feral performance (both physically and emotionally) is one that should be in awards conv🐠ersation by the end♓ of the year.
There’s a thorny love triangle at the center of this intimate drama by Ira Sachs (Love is Strange), as capricious film-maker Tomas (Franz Rogowski) embarks on an affair with teacher Agathe (♚Adèle Exarchopoulos), much to the bemusement of his husband, Martin (Ben Whishaw). Sachs treats all of the characters empathetically, even as Tomas’ flighty ego runs roughshod over those closest to him. Sexually charged but delicately observed, it’s a film for grown-ups in every sense of the word; t🧸he cool Paris locations and trio of fine leads (Rogowski, in particular, is magnetic) only add to the appeal.
That child actor Brooke Shields was exploited during her career is a given, but this 🌟enlightening documentary challenges viewers in understanding exactly how, as well as highlighting audience complicity in that damage. Navigating Shields’ life in the spotlight from babyhood, this doc covers her relationships with Michael Jackson and Andre Agassi via frank confessions of her mother’🔯s alcoholism, a sexual assault and post-natal depression. Lana Wilson’s clear-eyed examination of how society treats women taps the universal experience via her subject’s specific journey. And the message is clear when Shields discusses her own teen daughters; we must do better.
The teens at the center of this Aussie frightener have clearly never seen a horror 🧜movie or read a thread on movie tropes. Otherwise they’d never be opening themselves up to spirits possessing them as a party game, pushing the ‘safe’ time a little lonꦕger for the lols… Opening with a truly shocking one-take tone-setter and ratcheting up the chills, Talk to Me taps into an exploration of the impact of trauma via unsettling visual effects and sudden, brutal violence. It also leaves an ending open for a possible franchise… no wonder A24 came calling.
Nicole Holofcener and Julia Louis-Dreyfus reunite after Enough Said for another slice of recognizable mid-life angst as a writer in an ostensibly happy marriage inadvertently discovers that her husband (Tobias Menzies) secretly doesn’t like her latest tome. For his part, he’s wondering if he’s actually any good at his job as a couples ther🀅apist and her sister is irritated by the wealthy clients she interior designs for… Nagging dissatisfaction, the lies we tell through love and the bumbling along that constitutes a ‘happy’ life are explored via ugly light fittings, unwan🍸ted earrings and sock shopping. Delightfully witty.

]]>Of course, this isn't the first time a sequel has been nominated for Best Picture – The Godfather Part 2, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Lo▨rd of the Rings: ꦺReturn of the King, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Mad Max: Fury Road are just a f𝓡ew examples. The former two movie😼s are the only sequels that have ever won the gong, however.

2023 is also a big year for first-time nominees. Cate Blanchett is the only previous Oscar winner to be nominated in the acting categories this year, and 16 of the 20 acting nominees are first-timers: Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fꦅraser, Paul Mescal, Bill Nighy, Brendan Gleeson, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, Ke Huy Quan, Ana de Armas, Andrea Riseborough, Michelle Yeoh, Hong Chau, Kerry Condon, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Stephanie Hsu are all first-time Oscar nominees.

]]>Well, to start with there were no female directors in the shortlist, despite Sarah Polley’s Women Talking being nominated for Best Picture. Then there's the fact that Nope and The Woman King missed out on some recognition – and those are just a few of thℱe ꦡsnubs from the big announcement.
We’ve broken down some of the biggest talking points from the Oscar nominations ahead of another eventful ceremony. And if you’re looking for more analysis, here’s how they matched up to our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Oscars 2023 predictions too.
Aftersun has been getting plenty of much-deserved awards attention, even scoring 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:several nods at the BAFTAs. But, it was still an outlier heading into the Academy Awards announcement – and while Charlotte Wells may not have landed a Best Director nomination, nor was the film recognized in any other categories, Paul Mescal’s turn as Calum is officially Oscar-nominated. The film follows a young father (Mescal) and his daughter (played by Frankie Corio) on a holiday to Turkey, but behind the sun-soaked fun, he’s hiding another side of himself from her. Mescal will be up against Brendan Fraser (澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Whale), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Austin Butler (Elvis), and Bill Nighy (Living) on the big night.
Jordan Peele's third directorial effort, Nope, was completely shut out from the nominations. Despite some seriously impressive sound design and visual effects, the sci-fi horror didn't pick up a single craft nod. Peele's first movie, Get Out, received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Screenplay in 2018, winning the latter – though his second film, Us, 🍸als🐠o didn't pick up any Academy Award attention either.
Women Talking hasn't received much love so far this awards season, and an Oscars snub was predicted to follow after the film got no recognition in this year&♉apos;s BAFTA nominations. However, it was nominated for Best Picture at this year's Oscars, and is the only female-directed film in the category. Sarah Polley's hard-hitting drama about a group of women taking their fate into their owꦕn hands in a Mennonite colony stars Claire Foy, Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, and Ben Whishaw.
That's right, a grand total of zero women were nominated in the Best Director category this year. Of course, the Oscars are not renowned for their recognition of women filmmakers (only seven nominated for Best Director in its history), but this is a downturn from last year, when Jane Campion was nominated (and won), and from 2021, when Chlo🐈é Zhao and Emerald Fennell were nominated, with Zhao winning.
The most prominent omissions from this year's category are P๊olley, director of Women Talking, and Aftersun helmer Charlotte Wells. Women Talking was nominated for Best Picture – the only movie in the category helmed by a woman – but Polley didn't get any recognition for directing. Wells' made her directorial debut in 2022 with Aftersun, and Mescal received an acting nod for his role as young single father Cal൲um.
It's not just those two categories, either – none of the Best International Feature Film nominees were directed by women, while only one of the Best Animated Feature nominees was helmed by a female director (澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Turning Red's Domee Shi) and only two of the Best Documentary Feature filmmakers were female (Alꩵl the Beauty and the Bloodshed's Laura Poitras and Fire of Love's ജSara Dosa).
In a very happy surprise, Stephanie Hsu landed a well-deserved nomination for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. The actor plays both Joy Wang and the multiverse skipping Jobu Tupaki in the movie. After Hsu was shut out at the Golden Globes, fans will be very happy to see her nominated here. Indeed, when her name was called out during the announcement, there was an audible cheer all around. Of course, she faces some tough competition in the Best Supporting Actress category, against co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Hong Chau (The Whale), and favorite Angela Bassett (澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Panther: Wakanda Forever).
Viola Davis’ impressive performance as fierce Agojie leader Nanisca in The Woman King 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:seemed like an Oscars shoo-in. However, neither her, nor the movi꧒e, were recognized in any of the categories. The well-reviewed blockbuster was popular with viewers and critics, and Davis has been garnering attention for her performance so this is a surprise. Thuso Mbedu’s and Lashana Lynch’s performances were also shut out, as was director Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Andrea Riseborough’s nomination for To Leslie has built steam over the last month, with plenty of A-listers coming out in support of her. Despite the movie not landing a wide audience, her turn as a mother looking for redemption struck a nerve with many. Among those praising her were Kate Winslet, Charlize Theron, J🐬ennifer Aniston, and Edward Norton. "I’m astounded," the actor told of the news. "It’s such an unexpected ray of light. It w🐼as so hard to believe it might ever happen because we really hadn’t been in the running for anything else."
Prior to its release, many assumed Andrew Dominik’s Blonde would be an Oscar contender a la Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. Much like Austin Butler, Ana de Armas had undergone a complete transformation – nailing Marilyn Monroe’s voice, mannerisms, and even appearance. However, the film itself had an utterly divisive response and has received little to no attention this award season, save for de Armas earning a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Golden Globe nomination.
Causeway, on the other hand, has received several nominations from various cಞritics societies, with Brian Tyree Henry leading the noms for Best Supporting Actor, though the film and its actors received no attention at the Golden Globes. The film, directed by Lila Neugebauer, stars Jennifer Lawrence as a US soldier who returns home after experiencing a traumatic brain injury and connects with James (Henry), an auto mechanic who is also su𒉰ffering from PTSD after his nephew was killed in a car accident on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
While it won the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, no one really expected Ruben Östlund’s wild, vomit-drenched black comedy 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Triangle of Sadness to "sneak" into this year’s Best Picture category. Opposite the likes of Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical drama 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Fabelmans, James Cameron’s sci-fi sequel 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Avatar: The Way of Water, and harrowing anti-war flick All Quiet on the Western Front, it stands out as the most daring of the Acad꧃emy’s picks – and we’re all for its inclusion.
Centered on a bunch of rich folks, from influencer models and tech whiz༒zes to arms dealers and "shit" salesmen, the movie sees its unlikeable protagonists luxuriate on a superyacht before rough seas cause them to crash on a remote island. There, the clueless "elite" find themselves answering to the much more competent staff 🔜who were serving them onboard.
None of its stellar cast members – Dolly de Leon, Zlatko Burić, the late Charlbi Dean, Harris Dickinson, and Woody Harrelson, to name a few – received acting nods, but Triangle of Sadness earned spots in Best Original Screenplay and Best Director, too. Back in 2019, Parasite won the most prestigious accolade at Cannes before going on to ♔bag the Oscars’ most prestigious gong. Could this do the same?
Korean mystery-romance 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Decision to Leave didn't get any recognition in this year's Oscars nominations, despite the critical acclaim and other nods the film has received – helmer Park Chan-wook was nominated for Best Director and the movie got a nod in the Best Film Not in the English Language category at the BAFTAs and Park won Best Director at Cannes Film Festival. The movie follows an insomniac detective (Par🌱k Hae-il) who becomes obsessed with the prime suspect in a murder case (T🀅ang Wei) and has been a hit with audiences around the world.

Competition is tight in the major categories, with a lot of different contenders𝕴 vying for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, an𝓀d Best Supporting Actress.
There are already some big favorites in the acting categories, with stars like Brendan Fraser, Ke Huy Quan, and Michelle Williams all expected to be nominated. In terms of Best Picture, we’re expecting to see nominatꦯions going to frontrunners like Everyt🍰hing Everywhere All At Once, The Banshees of Inisherin, and The Fabelmans. With the expanded number of nominees, Avatar: The Way of Water and Top Gun: Maverick are also potentials too.
Finally the Best Director gong has some familiar names already in the running, like Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert and Steven Spielberg. But don’t discount Martin McDonagh (The Ba⛦nshees of Inisherin), Todd Field (Tár), and Baz Luhrmann (Elvis), and Sarah Polley (Women Talking) just yet either.
Of course, the Academy always has some surprises up itsꦺ sleeve too, so there could be some unexpected nominations as well. Luckily, we haven’t got long to wa♎it now…

]]>"Thank you BAFTA for this incredible honor for both myself and our film," the star of꧒ Baz Lurhmann's biopic said in a statement. "The three year journey to bring the one and only Elvis to life was the experience of a lifetime as an actor. It was a privilege to work alongside our amazing cast and crew each and everyday. Thank you, Baz, for encouraging me to take risks and including me in your extraordinary vision for this film."
This year was also a good year for recognizing smaller British talent, with Charlotte Wells' debut drama Aftersun receiving a lot of recognition – the film received four nominations, including Outstanding British Film and an acting nodꦏ for Paul Mescal. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande and Blue J🃏ean also received nominations.
We've got the full list of BAFTA 2023 nominations below. For more on the BAFTAs, check out our interview with Rising Star nominees Naomi Ackie and Daryl McCormack.

]]>"Darren Aronofsky, I was in the wilderness, and I probably should have left a trail of breadcrumbs, but you’ve found me – and like all the best directors, you merely just showed me where to go to get to where I needed to be," he said, before sharing a powerful message. "If you, like a guy like Charlie, who I played in this movie, in any way, struggle with obesity, or you just feel like you’rꦡe in a dark sea. I want you to know that if you too, can have the strength to just get to your feet and go to the light. Good things will happen."
Fraser also praised his co-stars Hong Chau, Sadie Sink, and Ty Simpkins, as well as playwright Sam Hunter, in his heartfelt speech. "This movie, The Whale, it’s about love, it’s about redemption," he added. "It’s about finding the light in a dark place and I’m so lucky to have worked with an ensemble thatﷺ is incredible."
Elsewhere, the big winner at the awards was 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Everything Everywhere All at Once, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Editing. Cate Blanchett won best actress for Tár, while 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery took Best Comedy and Best Ensemble.
On the TV side, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Better Call Saul won Best Drama, with Bob Odenkirk winning Best Actor. Abbott Elementary won two awa𓃲rds, including Best Comedy. Check out the full list of winners below.

]]>It's also thrown up some serious surprises. Best A﷽ctor is now a more close-run thing than at any other point in the race so far, while a Best Picture nominee has stormed through🦩 out of nowhere to be the film on everyone's lips. Elsewhere, some of the other acting categories and Best Director look done and dusted.
Below, we're going to run the rule over the main Oscars categories – Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. We talk big favorites, possible underdogs, and which movies and actors we think could be giving sཧpeeches on stage at the 95th Academy Awards.
The nominees
澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Fabelmans – Steven Spielberg'ꦉs semi-autobiographical drama – was long seen as favorite and the traditionalist Academy pick. However, momentum has seriously slowed in recent weeks.
Instead, there are three intriguing films with serious momentum behind them. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Banshees of Inisherin scooped up the Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical and is bo🌃lster💖ed by a series of acclaimed acting performances, including Colin Farrell’s lead role as Padraic, that are picking up awards buzz.
Everything Everywhere All at Once, though, i൲s perhaps the biggest fan favorite and is currently leading the way with bookmakers. While that often counts for naught by the time the name on the envelope is read out, it would be a feel-good story to see a film with a predominantly Asian cast (and, in Ke Huy Quan, an actor who was largely ignored by Hollywood for decades) to win Best Picture. The story of multiverse mayhem may skew a little too high concept for the Academy, but its 11 nominations proves it's got appeal across the board. For now, EEAAO is the firm favorite.
澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:All Quiet on the Western Front won Best Film at the BAFTAs and is now thrust into contention alongside Everything and Banshees. It's a bit more of an 💜outsider, but its recent award success could give Academy voters a jolt in the lead up to March 12.
As for the other contenders, Tár, Elvis, and Women Talking have had plenty of awards chatter but shouldn't trouble the winners. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Avatar: The Way of Water and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Top Gun: Maverick – two of the most successful movies of all time at the box office – round out the Best Picture shortlist alongside 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Triangle of Sadness.
The nominees
Steven Spielberg has now been nominated a whopping ei🤪ght times for Best Director. Whether he takes home the award for the third time (having pr꧒eviously won for Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan) is another debate entirely.
The Fabelmans' subject matter – loosely stemming from Spielberg’s own childhood – may sway♊ the Academy, though the voters have tended to gravitate towards new voices in the past decade or so.
If that’s the case again, Everything Everywhere All at Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (AKA The Daniels) could win 🎶Best Director. In the wrong hands, their movie could have been a sprawling mess. It’s to the pair’s credit that they were not only able to emotionally anchor the filmꦬ, but also bring out career-best performances from much of its cast.
Barring any real shocks, The Daniels and Spielberg should be the only realistic contenders and we expect the former pair to pick up the award. But we shouldn’t discount Martin 💛McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin) or Todd Field (Tár), who each delivered extraordinary work in the past 12 months. Ruben Ostlund was a surprise inclusion - but no less deserved - for helming Triangle of Sadness, though it was disappointing to see no female director nominated at all this year.
The nominees
At one point, this felt like Brendan Fraser’s award to lose. His comeback performance as Charlie, a reclusive and obese English professor aiming to reconnect with his estranged daughter, in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Whale gained plenty of plaudits on th🌌e festival circuits in 2022.
Colin Farrell’s turn as Padraic, a man who is forced to confront the sudden end of a years-long friendship, in The Banshees of Inisherin 🧸has gained more traction as of late, however. A Golden Globe win has put in firmly in the box ✅seat – and we think he could win come Oscars night.
The main rival to Farrell and Fraser is Austin Butler’s transformative performance in Elvis. Butler’s rich, physical portrayal never fell into impression territory and his subtle tweaks as Elvis’ health worsened could tip the scales in his favor as the Academy tends to go for historical figures in a close-run race (see: Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, Gary Oldman as Winston 🐓Churchill, and many, many more besides that). He also has a BAFTA win under his belt, which is often a good bellweather for success at the Oscars.
Meanwhile, it's great to see Bill Nighy (Living) and first-time nominee Paul Mescal (Aftersun) sneak on to the shortlist. Both des♐erve the attention and each deliver striking perfo✤rmances that are well worth seeking out.
The nominees
As is fast becoming a running🅺 theme for this year’s Oscars, the award for Best Actress is seemingly only between a couple of names – but there&a💝pos;s now an outright favorite.
Cate Blanchett and her virtuoso performance as fictional composer Lyd🥃ia Tár has won plaudits from across the industry, though Michelle Yeoh is currently running her close thanks to her role as a mother who has to navigate the multiverse in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Blanchett's BAFTA win should see hﷺer win, however.
Going by recent trends, Blanchett’s role feels aꩵ little more in tune – pun not intended – with what the Academy wants from a Best Actress winner: a singular, film-carrying performance filled with trauma, strife, and chewy dialogue. Crucially, it exists in that little Oscars bubble a little away from the mainstream glare which, again, makes it feel like the perfect fit.
But if anyone can smash expectations, it’s Mich🅠elle Yeoh. Her decades-long career in Hollywood has been building up to a moment like this a🤪nd, with Blanchett winning in 2013, it might be Yeoh’s turn to get her flowers.
Elsewhere, Michelle Williams continues the trend of Fabelmans plaudits, while early favorite Ana de Armas (Blonde) made it on too but isn't being talked about as a likely winner. The pair are outsiders next to Andrea Riseborough's surprise nomination for To Leslie, whi🍃ch hadn't really garnered huge critical acclaim up until now.
The nominees
There won’t be a dry eye in the house if Ke Huy Quan takes home Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere All at Once. On the night, it could also 🅠be the first sign of a surprising EEAAO sweep – something to keep an eye on. Quan's the hot favorite following his Golden Globes victory.
The Banshees of Inisherin is blessed with wonderful talent, so it’s no surprise to see Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan talked about as a pair of actors with big chaꦯnces. There’s a chance votes could be split between the duo, cementing Quan’s Judd Hirsch (The Fablemans) leapt ahead of castmate Paul Dano, and Brian Tyree Henry rounds out the list in slightly surprising fashion after playing the mechanic who befriends lead Lynsey (Jennifer Lawrence) in Causeway.
The nominees
Might Marvel pick up its first-ever acting Oscar? Angela Bassett stole the show as fiery Queen Ramonda in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, thre🉐ading the needle between an isolated ruler and a 𒐪grieving mother to outstanding effect.
Bassett is the leading name in some corners, though Kerry Condon is outstanding in the Banshees of Inisherin and the movie is alrea🌳dy on the lips of many voters, whereas Wakanda Forever has been predominantly missing from awards chatter. Everything Everywhere All at Once pair Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu were nominated as, too as, too, was Hong Chau♐ (The Whale). We'e got to give the edge to Angela Bassett here, though for a standout performance.
Curious as to who has already won big this awards season? Here's the list of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Golden Globes 2023 winners, plus a look ahead to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:movie release dates you need to know about this year.

]]>"I can co𝓡nfirm that all categories will be included in the live telecast," Bill K🥂ramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences told Variety.
Last year, the presentation and acceptance of the following awards took place an hour before the televised ceremony: Best Documentary Short, Best Film Editing, Make꧟up and Hairstyling, Original Score, Production Design, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, and Best Achievement in Sound. Many felt it was unfair to cut these categories as it allowed awards for acting and directing t𝓰o take top priority, while all aspects of cinema deserve to be celebrated equally.
"We are committed to having a show that celebrates the artisans, the arts and sciences and the collaborative nature of moviemaki𒐪ng. This is very much what the mission of the Academy is, and I am very hopeful that we can do a show that celebrates all components of moviemaking in an entertaining and engaging way," Kramer said.
"All I will say right now is that our anniversary, the 95th Oscars, is extremely important to us," he continued. "I think it sets a really interesting rhythm for our 100th. You see this in the museum, I think we ﷺare able to celebrate our legacy while bringing the Academy into the future and the show will reflect that."
The 95th Academy Awa✃rds will take place on March 12, 2023, and will👍 be broadcast live on ABC.

The movie: Nicolas Roeg’s spine-tinglingly horror follows a grief-stricken couple – Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland – retreating to Venice💛 after the death of their daughter. There, they’re met by two s🐈isters claiming their daughter is trying to contact them from beyond the grave.
Was it nominated? Nope. Absolutely nothing. The now☂-classic thriller initially received positive, but not stunning, reviews. Only now is it regarded as a genre highlight.
What it should’ve won: Don🎃't Look Away could should have been a contender for Best Picture, Actress, and Actor – but the real snub is towards Nicolas Roeg, who does a sublime job at creating an anxious, tense atmosphere – one that filmmakers have tried to repro𓆉duce ever since.
The movie: James Dean plays Jim Stark, t𓃲he eponymo🎃us rebel, who starts life afresh in a new town. Unfortunately, it's not long before he makes a few enemies.
Was it nominated? Rebel Without a Cause picked up three nominations, but none of them were for Dean, who was instead nominated for East of Eden – for which he posthumously won.
What it should’ve won: Dean꧅'s performaces in both East of ꦰEden and Rebel Without a Cause are phenomenal, but it's the latter that has become truly iconic.
The movie: The classic veꦆrsion 𒅌of King Kong, in which the eponymous monster not only steals the show, but also Ann Darrow.
Was it nominated? Nope. Monster movies weren't take♔n particularly seriously back in the '30s, no matter how groundbreaking the special effects were. Or how much they made you cry.
What it should’ve won: Best Film, surely? Compare the impact of King Kong to actual Best Picture win🍌ner Cavalcade – it doesn't come close.
The movie: Christian Bale plays the psychopath🍒ic Patrick Bateman in Mary Harron’s incredible adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' controversial novel.
Was it nominated? Nope. Another classic went completely ignored by the Academy Awards, d🌟espite having a long, impactfulꦦ legacy.
What it should’ve won: The star of American Psycho is, of course, Bale, who should have won the Best Actor award for his terrifying, intense portrayal of a man livi꧂ng on the ed🗹ge.
The movie: Photographer Jeff, played immaculately by James Stewart, spies on his neighbours after finding himself housebound with a broken leg. Soon enough, the voyeur witnesses something... murderous.
Was it nominated? Alfred Hitchcock was nominated for six Oscars over his career yet never took home the Best Director statuette. Rear Window got him closeꦛ, though, with a nomination in th🌞e category. Something, at least.
What it should’ve won: Best Director would have been most fitting, but so too would have Best Actor, as♒ Stewart does a mesmerising job despite being stuck in essentially one place through the movie's runtime.
The movie: James Stewart's lays a depressed businessman contemplating suicide, but soon discovers there's so much more to life than running a business – pl🌳us there&apo♈s;s a whole family relying on him.
Was it nominated? Five nominations (inclꦰuding Best Pi𒈔cture and Best Director), but no prizes.
What it should’ve won: Again, we're going to have to Stewart's unbridled performance should definitely have landed him Best Actor.
The movie: Charlie (Harvey Keitel) attempts to climb the Mafia rank🔥s in New York's Little Italy, but discovers it's noღt as easy as it sounds.
Was it nominated? Nope. The Aౠcademy was far more interested in The Sting, A Touch of Class and Save the Tiger.
What it should’ve won: Robert De Niro deserved a Best Supporting Actor gong for his per🌺formance as the psychotic Johnny Boy.
The movie: Prohibition-ౠera thriller from the Coen brothers. Tom Reagan (Gabriel Byrne) is caught between two gangs who are attempting to take control of the 🌳city.
Was it even nominated: Not a single nomination. Which 🍌seems strange, consider🐈ing how much the Academy now loves the Coens.
What it should’ve won: Barry Sonnenfeld's cinematography was certainly wo🐽rthy of a trophy, while the Coens' script is easily a strong contender for the Best Original Screenplay gong. If they had been nominated, of course…
The movie: Sergio Leone's epic tracks 💝the lives of New York gangsters as they rise through the ranks and revel in the Prohibition era (and beyond).
Was it nominated? Nope. While the moviꦺe may have gone through a tortured post-production process, that doe🌼s not excuse the Academy for completely ignoring this masterpiece.
What it should’ve won: Best Picture, Best D🤪irector, Best Actor, Costume Design… This should have been an awards sweep. Alas, this exquisite piece of filmmaking will forever be one of the Oscar's most notorio𒁃us snubs.
The movie: Wh𝕴en Bessie (Diane Keaton) discovers she has leukaemia, she attempts to rebuild her relationship with her sister (Meryl Streep) and her two sons.
Was it nominated? Keaton received a nomination in the Best Actress category, but none ofꦰ the other cast mem🧔bers got any recognition.
What it should’ve won: Keaton, Streep, and Leonardo DiCaprio are all fantastic, while Scott McPherson should have been at least nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for his emotional, but never saccha🦩rine, scripting.
The movie: Clint Eastwood returns as the unnamed bounty hunter. This time, he's up against tꦡwo ruthless killers – Tuco and Angel Eyes.
Was it nominated? Upon release, critics frowned upon the mov🌳ie's violence, leaving this epic Western comp♔letely unrewarded by the Oscars.
What it should’ve won: Another movie that has lasted the test of time. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly remains an all-time classic and should ha🏅ve picked up either Best Picture or Best Director for Sergio Leone.
The movie: Orphan Mathilda (Natalie Portman) is taken in by the eponymous assassin (Jean Reno) when her family's killed by Gar෴y Oldman's maniac cop.
Was it nominated? Wh🔯en you&🍸apos;re a foreign language movie, let alone a violent foreign language movie, you're already at a disadvantage when it comes to the Oscars. so it's no surprise Luc Besson's movie didn't receive a single nomination.
What it should’ve won: Best Supporting Actor for Ga🤡ry Oldman. His portrayal of an unhinged antagonist is spel♍lbinding.
The movie: John Carpenter’s influential slasher click seꦯes Jamie Lee Curtis's innocent babysitter being stalked and almost murde🍷red by the terrifying Michael Myers.
Was it nominated? As you may have guessed, this got absolutely nothing. The Oscars hated horror! And, arguably, still do – though the Ac♓ademy has softened slightly towards spooky flicks.
What it should’ve won: Carpenter is a masterful director, who turns the paradise of middle-class𝐆 America into a frightening world filled with faceless killers. A Best Director win would have been well deserve🦩d.
The movie: This drama follows the Grape family – among them Gilbert (Johnny Depp), who has t𓂃o🦄 look after younger brother Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio).
Was it nominated? DiCaprio received a much-deserved nomination for Best ♑Supporting Actor.
What it should’ve won: DiCaprio should have taken the Supporting Actor prize home. He lost to To🌌mmy Lee Jones for The Fugitive, a '90s action flick that really was completely OK...
The movie: Stan🌸ley Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's novel sees Jack Nicholson head to an isolated hotel with his family, where he starts seeing ghosts. Then he loses his mind…
Was it even nominated: You ꦦguessed it. The Academy couldn't get over their hatred of horror even for maestro Kubrick.
What it should’ve won: Best Actor. Though, we should not, Robert De Niro won that same year for Raging🎃 Bull. That would have been one incredible Oscarꦯs race.
The movie: Nor🍒man Bates goes on the rampage in this classic shocker, which tackles everything from cross-dressing to cold-blooded muꦆrder.
Was it nominated? Hitchcock picked up another Best Direct𒉰or nomination but failed to take home the award. Janet Leigh, the victim of that iconic shower scene, garnered a Best Supporting Acꦜtress nod.
What it should’ve won: Leigh deserved the gold – she made what should have been a 🍰thieving harlot into a likeably flawed heroine.
The movie: Wong🦂 Kar-wai&apo๊s;s modern classic about unrequited love between two neighbours in Hong Kong.
Was it nominated? Nothing. Though Wong Kar-wai did get a shoutout from Sofia Coppo when she w🃏o🍒n an Oscar for Lost in Translation – the iconic opening shot of that movie was heavily inspired by In The Mood For Love.
What it should’ve won: Best Foreign Language Film, though it would have🐲 been up again Pedro Almodóvar's All About My Mother.
The movie: Four friends go on a quest to 🐼uncov🍒er the body of a missing boy in this Stephen King adaptation.
Was it even nominated: Raynold Gideon and Bruce🍨 A. Evans received a nomination for their screenplay, but nobody else got a look in.
What it should’ve won: Best Adapted Screenplay would be the obvious call, though the movie's impressive young stars are all remarkable. R🎶iver Phoenix, in particular, is OScar-worthy.
The movie: Guy Pearce suffers from short-term memory loss – though that certainly isn't going to prevent him from tracking down the man who killed his wife. Oh, and this is directed by Christoph✱er Nolan, so expect s♑ome time-altering shenanigans.
Was it even nominated: It received just𓆉 two nominations: Best Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay.
What it should’ve won: Best Film Editing, without a shadow of a doubt. With its non-linear narrative, the movie still manages to feel coherent, and when the credits roll you feel exh💝ilarate🍸d rather than confused.
The movie: Epic crime noir from director Michae♉l Mann, in which Robert De Niro and Al Pacino go head to head. Sort of.
Was it even nominated: Despite being one of the best crime dramas of all time, the Academy basically pretended Man𒐪n's masterpiece never existed.
What it should’ve won: Val Kilmer would hav♚e made for a🐻 great recipient of the Best Supporting Actor award. Dante Spinotti's cinematography is also a highlight of this incredible movie.
The movie: A wi🅰ldly entertaining biopic telling the rise and fall of stockbroker and scammer Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Was it nominated? The Wolf of Wallstre♚et picked up five nominations, including a Best Director nod for Martin Scorsese a❀nd a Best Actor nod for DiCaprio.
What it should've won: Matthew McConaughey is admittedly great in Dallas Buyers Club, yet DiCaprio&🐼apos;s menacing deviant should have bagged the actor his first Oscar – even if just for the Quaaludes sequence alone.
The movie: Quentin Ta♛rantino's bloodbath of a debut feature, Reservoir Dogs concerns a heist that goes terribly wrong – and someon💛e gets their ear cut off.
Was it nominated? Tarantino's debut didn't receive a single nomination. Thankfully, the Academy made ﷽up for their error by honouring him in 1994, for Pulp Fiction, instead.
What it should’ve won: Best Original Screenplay. Tarantino has always been an incredible writer of dialo🌼gue, and this is no different.
The movie: Adam Sandler takes on a serious role, playing novelty shop owner Barry Egan, who struggles to make a living and de꧅al with his ridiculing sisters. And then he finds love.
Was it nominated? Nada for Paul Thomas An🐲derson's mesmerising movie.
What it should’ve won: Sandler is superb in a more grounded, less comical rolꦯe, and should have picked up the Best Actor award. Yet, there's also Philip Seymour Hoffman – who would have been an excellent candidate for Best Supporting Actor.
The movie: Darkly magical fantasy from Tim Burton. Edward Scissorhands (Johnny⭕ Depp) escapes his iso𒀰lated castle and attempts to fit in with normal '60s society.
Was it nominated? Stan Winston received a doff of the cap for Best Makeup, but ev✅erybody else was left scratching their heads.
What it should’ve won: Best Makeup should have belonged to the Edward Scissorhands🦄 team (damn you, Dick Tracy), and Depp would have been a far more interesting choice over Jeremy Irons, who won Best 🌳Actor for Reversal of Fortune.
The movie: Yasujirō Ozu's masterpiece about o♌rdinary life in Tokyo, shot in an extraordinary light. Essential cinema.
Was it nominated: Tokyo Story reached cinemas in November, 1993 – a year in which ꦺthe Foreign Language Oscar was not prese🌸nted to anyone. Teinosuke Kinugasa's Gate of Hell picked up the award in 1994, and no other nominees were even announced. That should put some perspective on how the Academy regarded non-English language cinema.
What it should've won: Best Picture and Best Director should have belonged to Tokyo Story and Ozu, respectively. Thankfully, filmmake🎐rs such as Steven Spielberg and George Lucas discovered Tokyo Story at a later date, and turned this into one of the most influential movie𓆉s of all time.
The movie: Nicolas Windin꧟g Refn's slick, '80s-style crime thriller centres on Ryan Gosling's nameless driver, who attempts to help his neighbour (Carey Mulligan), only to find trouble waiting for him.
Was it nominated? Just one nomination– for💧 Lon Bender and Victor Ray Ennis's gorgeous sound editing.
What it should’ve won: Drive score is wonderfully atmospheric, but it's Gosling who should have been up for Best Actor. His performance is a tour de꧑ force in restraint.
The movie: The Narrator (Edward Norton) has his li🌺fe turned upside down by Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), the fo🉐under of an underground fight club.
Was it nominated? Fight Club picked up a nomination for Best Effects, which is a bit of a kick in the teeth considering the amount of acting talent involved.
What it should’ve won: Norton and Pitt are both incredible, yet Helena Bonham Carter should have walked away with Best Supportin𒐪g Actress. Plus, the cinematography is astounding. A couple of potentials for this exquisite thriller.
The movie: Adapted from Stephen King's novella, The Shwashank Redemption sees a wrongly-imprisoned banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) at𒁃tempts to escape jail.
Was it nominated? Despite bombing at the box office, The Shawshank Redemption was nominated for seven Osca💧rs, including Best Cinematographyꦏ, Best Picture and Best Sound.
What it should’ve won: Best Picture or Best Adapted Screenplay, though Morgan Freemꩲan would have deserved the Best🌟 Actor award.
The movie: "The Dude" Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) is mistaken for a millionaire and h⭕as to accept a job to pay for the♛ damage he does to the rich Lebowski's home.
Was it nominated? Nope. Butﷺ the Coens did get a Berlin Golden Bea🍬r nomination...
What it should’ve won: Bridges deserved Best Actor, but John Goodman's scene-stealin🌼g performancꦅe definitely should have earned him a Supporting Actor award.
The movie: James Cameron's sci-fi epic sees 🐟Arnold Schwarzenegger's robotic bounty hunter travel back in time to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).
Was it nominated? Nope. The Terminator, despite being one of cinema's most iconic movies, didn't pick up a single nomination. Not even special effects. For shame, Academy.
What it should’ve won: Best Special Effects is the most obvious. Yet, it's Cameron's script that's disarmingly lean, punchy, and imaginative. A Best Original Screenplay shou🙈ld have been his.

All of those nominees, all of those people, deserve to stand up the same way everyone else does."
Graham added: "It’s our turn to say 'That’s not okay,'" he said. "I grew up wanting to be an Academy member and that 💟dream came true. I think it’s fucked up. And I think they need to think about that."

While the Oscar nominees haven't been announced yet, the Golden Globes winners are usually a pretty good indication of who's set to become a frontrunner at the Academy Aw🅘ards. In 2021, for example, Nomadland and its director Chloé Zhao won Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director at the Golden Globes before going on to win Best Picture and Best Director at the Oscars.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), a California-based group of journalists for foreign media outlets who are be🧜hind the movie and🌳 TV awards, came under fire earlier this year after it was revealed that none of its 87 members were Black. Companies like Netflix, Amazon, and WarnerMedia said they would boycott continue to boycott HFPA events until changes were made.
"Regardless of the next air date of the Golden Globes, implementing transformational changes as quickly – and as thoughtfully – as possible remains the top priority for our organization," the HFPA said in a statement in response. "We invite our partnerꦫs in the industry to the table to work with us on the systemic reform that is long overdue, both in our organization as well as within the industry at large."
reports that Tom Cruise returned his three Golden Globe awards to the HFPA – the actor had two Best Actor prizes, one for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Jerry Maguire and one for Born on the Fourth of July, as well as a Best Supporting Actor gong for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Magnolia. Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo have also issued critica✤l statements.
The HFPA has also issued a bullet point pla🦹n of action scheduled to take place over the next few months, with goals including adding at least 20 new members by August and increasing membership by 50 percent over the next 18 months.

It cꦿould be a famous night – and you’ll need a front-row seat. Below, we’ve whizzed through the main pre-Oscars 2021 talking points. Namely, how to watch the Oscars this year, the date and time of the full event, and a cursory glance at the big nominees.
Taking place on Sunday, April 25, the 2021 Oscars begin at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern. That’s technically April 26 in the UK, at a bleary-eyed time of 1am.
Expect the show🌜 to last for around three-to-four hours – give or take a few dodgy video calls – and interviews from the red carpet will likely be found pre-even𝓡t on the official Academy YouTube channel.
There’s even a pre-show for US viewers. From 6:30pm on ABC, you’ll be able to watch “Into the Spotlight,” which acts as both a preview and also a showcase for the five ꧙Original Song nominees, who wi🐎ll perform live.
In the US, you can watch the ceremony through your caꦛble provider on ABC or online at ABC.com. In the UK, things are slightly more complicated: you’ll require either access to Sky Cinema via your TV package or you'll need to fork over £11.99/month for a Now TV Cinema Pass. That’ll ﷽enable you to watch the Academy Awards via your TV, laptop, or even games console. There will also be an Oscars catch-up show on Monday evening.
Leading the way this year is David Fincher’s Mank with 10 nominations. Following up close behind is The Father, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Sound of Metal, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Trial of the Chicago 7 (all six nominations). 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Promising Young Woman is next up with five nominations.
Nomadland is widely-tipped to walk home with Best Picture but faces stiff competition from the rest of the nomin♏ees, listed here in full:
The most noteworthy category is that of Best Director. Remarkably, this is the first time ever that two female directors have been nominated in the same year. Chloe Zh🅠ao (Nomadland) and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) could make history come Sunday.

OK, lightning round: here’s what else ꦿyou’ve been wondering about – answered in double-quick time.
Will there be a live audience? Y🌸es, but not all the stars are coming out to play – at least all at once. 170 audience members will be allowed to be seated at one time, and it’s likely set to rotate throughout the night at Union Station, the (new) main hub for the Oscars this year. There’s also been talk of other ‘hubs’ around the globe – with the BFI Southbank in London being mooted as one such venue where actors can gather to celebrate their work.
There will be no host once more for the Oscars. Expect, instead, a revolving door of presenters and big names toꦬ see you through the night.
For us watching from home, not much will have changed. Those there on the night will need to pass three COVID tests. However, things could be glitzier♐ than ever. There is a suggestion, as per , that the entire ceremony will feel “more like a movie.” We're not sure what that means, but we're certainly tuning in to find out...

"We know that you've seen a lot of crazy stuff at your job this year, but you have not seen the kind of stuff we've seen at previous Gol꧃den Globes," Fey said to the frontline workers who'd been treated to a spot in the live audience. Like "Quentin Tarantino crawling under the table, just touching people's feet."
Fey went on to explain who the HFPA, the Globes' voting body, is. "The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is made up of around 90, international, no Black, journalists who attend movie junkets each year in search of a be💯tter life," she said. "We say 'around 90' because a couple of them might be ghosts, and it's rumored that the German member is just a sausage that someone drew a little face on."
Later on, Poehler made a jibe a🍒t the Globes' habit of sidelining female directors by not mentioning the male nominees. "There are great directors nominated tonighܫt. Regina King for One Night in Miami, Chloé Zhao for Nomadland, Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman, and two other people, but we're out of time," she quipped.
The duo ran through the list of nomไinated movies and shows. "Nomadland saw Frances McDormand travel around the country and poop in a bucket," Fey said. "My kids were like, 'Can we do that for spring break?'" She added: "The Queen's Gambit is whatever James Corden was up to in The Prom, I guess."
The hosts also got in several digs at controversial nominee, Netflix series Emily in Paris. Fey said: "Emily in Paris ಞis nominated for Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy, and I, for one, can't wait to find out which it is."

]]>This year sees the most women ever nominated for Best Director. Regina King is nominated for One Night in Miami, Emerald Fennell for Promising 🅘Young Woman, and Chloé Zhao for Nomadland. Zhao is also the first Asian woman to ever be nominated for Best Director.
This has been a long time coming – Natalie Portman went off-script to criticize the lack of female Best Director nominees when she presented theꦦ award at the 20𓃲18 awards ceremony, introducing "all the male nominees."
Ava DuVernay was the last woman to be nominated in this category back in 2015 for her historical drama 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Selma, while Barbara Streisand is the only woman to ever win the award in 1984 for her musical drama Yentl, i🧔n which she𓆏 also starred.
Alongside Streisand and DuVernay, Jane Campion, Sofia Coppola, and Kathryn Bigelow are the only other female directors to ever be nominated, but this year the women outnumber the men. The rest of the nominees in this year's category are David Fincher for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Mank and Aaron Sorkin for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Meanwhile, Mank picked up the most nominations with six, followed by The Trial Of The Chicago 7 with five. In joint third pl꧒ace, The Father, Nomadland, and Promising Young Woman all received four nominations. On the TV side of things, The Crown was the most nominated series with six. Schitt's Creek came a close second with five nominations.

]]>outlines the steps taken, with films up for Best Picture now needing to𒈔 meet requirements in at least two of the following four categories: “Onscreen Representation, Themes and Narratives”, “Creative Leadership and Project Team”, “Industry Access and Opportunities”, and “Audience Development.”
“The aperture must widen to reflect our diverse global population in both the creation of motion pictures and in the audiences who connect🐈 with them. The Academy is committed to playing a vital role in helping make this a reality. We believe these inclusion standards will be a catalyst for long-lasting, essential change in our industry,” Academy president David Rubin and chief executive Dawn Hudson said.
It’s not🎃 clear what each category specifically entails and what the exact standards are that need to be met. According to the report, underrepresented groups and minorities (such as POC and the LGBTQ community) should be included on-screen, in creative roles, as well as offering pathways for those entering the industry.
The Best Picture changes don’t come into play until 2024 meaning that there’s still plenty of time for Hollywood and the rest ofജ the film industry to play catch up. It’s also a welcome move that should, hopefully, see marginalised groups share their talents and experiences as 🅰well as being given the opportunity to be a part of some of the biggest movies of the year.
Next year’s Oscars have, for now, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:been delayed until late April, with the Academy Awards even now allo🔜wing on-demand movies to be eligible for nominati💃on without a theatrical release.
Slowly but surely, it ℱseems the Academy is changing with the times – and that can only be a good thing for film fans everywhere.
“It’s likely they’ll be postponed,” a source told industry trade of the 93rd Academy Awards, currently seꦍt for February 28, 2021. That same source also indicated that talks about a new date have not yet been formally tabled, so there may be some hope yet of the Oscars 2021 still hit💖ting its original date.
A postponement, though, wouldn’t be the worst thing for the movie industry. With several big hitters retreating to 2021 instead of their once-scheduled 2020 release date, it gives the industry a wider window to potentially get more movies considered by the Academy. Because at this rate, the likes of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Birds of Prey and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Sonic the Hedgehog movie are technically frontrunners in a schedule be൲reft of new films. It’s worth noting, though, that the traditional cut-off p🥂oint for Oscars consideration of December 31, 2020 still remains.
But a potential new Oscars 2021 air date isn’t the only big change on the horizon. The Academy 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:has also introduced new𒐪 rule changes. That includes rolling two sound categories into one hol🅷istic award for Best Sound, while movies that in♐tended to release in theaters but were forced to go on-demand (such as… uhh, Scoob) can now be considered for Oscars nominations when previously that wasn’t the case.
News of a possible Oscars 2021 shift follows on from the wave of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:coronavirus delays that have swept the industry, including 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:San Diego Comic-Con being cancelled and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:replaced by a digital event. For now, theꩵ movie industry’s great monolith remains intact –🍃 but plans may yet change.
