Kojima Productions and Line Mileage announced the news (via Animation Magazine), with Raised by Wolves's Aaron Guzikowski set to write the movie. It will be a൲n adult feature length film, and it's in active development⛄.
"I love the world of Death Stranding, it's so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful; I'm so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I've long admired, has invited me to dwell within his creation, to birth new stories into this fertile, mind-bending universe," Guzikowski said. "Drawing and animation have always been near an𓆉d dear to my heart, so to finally get to play in 🍃this space is a dream come true."
This isꦰn't the only Death Stranding film in the works, either, with a live-action adaptation on the way from A24.
"I am also currently working with A24 on a live-action film adaptation of DEATH STRANDING," Kojima told in May (translation via ). "When it comes to film adaptations of games, there have been recent films like The Last of Us that keep the plot of the original intact, and film🔜s like The Super Mario Bros. Movie that are more like a service to game fans. Each of these works has its ♛own merits, but as a film lover, I want to pursue expression as a film. I am aiming to make DEATH STRANDING in a way that can only be done as a film, and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation."
The anime adaptation in question appears to be the film being penned by Guzikowski. It's not clear 🌜when🐽 either film will be released just yet.

Gyoda is on track to beat their own (hyper-specific) Guinness World Record, too. Back in 2015, they created the 'largest rice paddy artwork' to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Dragon Quest JRPG series. That attempt reached just over 27,000 square meters, with the 2025 Demon Slayer di🎉splay potentially besting it.

"Anime is niche no more," said Crunchyroll EVP of global commerce and head of theatrical Michel Berꦡger (via ).
During this year's Annecy International Aꦐnimated Film Festival, Berger introduced the Crunchyroll Studio Focus 2025 and talked about the anime fandom's growth. According to the study, nearly 60% of viewers from 13 to 17 identify as anime fans. The number goes down to 44% with viewers from 13 to 54, but it still surpasses, according to꧋ Berger, other popular genres like K-dramas.
Berger concluded his presentation by sharing footage from the🌳 upcoming Demon Slayer movie, officially titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, which is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2025, in Japan. Crunchyroll will distribute the film in international markets through Sony Pictures Releasing a coup🍌le of months later.
Infinity Castle could easily become a box office hit, at least if it follows the results of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. The first Demon Slayer film made over $500 million at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese ani♎me movie of all time.
Per the official synopsis, Infinity Castle sees Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to save the Demon Corps headquarters, but they're "plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons' stronghold – the Infinity Castle. Sadly, the new trailer is all in Japanese but, if you're familiar with Shinkai's work, you'll know the rich🎉 imagery, often with a focus on the contrast between tranquil countrysides and urban chaos, will tide you over. Watch it for yourself below.
5 Centimeters per Second, starring J-Pop idol Hokuto Matsumura, hits Japanese cinemas on October 10, but there's no word yet on a Western release. Shinkai's best-known work, Your Name, has also been mooted as a possible future l𓄧ive-action adaptation – but has since stalled.
Speaking to , Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung, who was once attached to the project, ultimately felt there were cultural barriers getting in the way of an adaptation, which was reportedly goin♋g to be set in 🦹America.
“I like the animated film, but what I didn't realize is how hard it is to adapt a Japanese animated mov✤ie and to try to do that for America. That was the goal that Toho had put before us. But it's really hard to do.”

]]>As flagged by , the June 9 takings of Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye came in at $350,000, gifting it 𝓰ninth place at the US domestic box office. Thunderbolts, meanwhile, is flagging in 10th, grossing $290,000.
While it's easy to raise eyebrows at another Marvel feature stalling in cinemas, it's more exciting to see the potential anime has with audiences later this year – as is the case with Evil Eye, which bundled the first three episodes of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dan Da Dan season 2 together with the finale of the first season.
Anime has always threatened to break into the mainstream (Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is 2020's highest-gros♍sing movie, beating out the likes of Tenet), but this could be the year it truly gets a firm foothold in theaters.
Later this year, the first part of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Chainsaw Man movie will be released in cinemas, each one offering the chance to put anime on the map in Hollywood. Beyond that, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Haikyuu VS The Little Giant is spiki♛ng its way onto the big screen in the coming years.
It's little wonder, then, that Disney CEO Bob Iger is eager to communicate a philosophy of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:quality over quantity in Marvel Studios' future.
Speaking on a💦 call with Wall Street analysts, Iger ca🍨lled Thunderbolts the "first and best example" of that new approach.
"In our zeal to flood our streaming platform wi𒉰th more content, we turned to all of our creative engines, including Marvel, and had them produce a lot more. We've also learned over time that quantity does not necessarily beget quality. Frankly, we've all admitted to ourselves that we lost a little focus by making too much. By consolidating a bit and having Marvel focus much more on their films, we believe it will result in better quality," Iger said.

]]>In the past few years, however, studios and production companies have catapulted a new trend into cinemas: the compila♈tion m🍷ovie.
Essentially a recap of a previous season bundled with a taster for what's to come, the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and Solo Levelin🌼g have all seen success with the theatrical package.
Now, it's the turn of Dan Da Dan with Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, an introduction to the first season's Evil Arc coupled with the first three episodes of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dan Da Dan season 2, an adventure t🐻hat sees series leads Momo and Okarun iꦜnvestigate supernatural goings-on at the home of Momo's former crush.
Speaking to GamesRadar+ co-director Abel Gongora from Science SARU only has good things to say about anime becoming more and more confident witꦐh its st🃏rides into the theatrical space.
"For me, it's great. I could see my work on the screen and it looks💝 amazing. The sound is really amazing in the theater," Gongora said.
Despiꦬt🍌e Evil Eye heading into cinemas, that seemingly wasn't the initial plan.
As Gongඣora explains, "We didn't know it was going to be a movie. That would [have been🌼] even cooler if we did it more like a prepared edition."
However, the co-director – alongside Dan Da Dan season one director Fuga 𒀰Yamashiro – hopes anime continues its trenܫd of big-screen releases.
"I was really happy to see [it] and I hope anime keeps doing things like that," Gongora said. "For example, in the premiere, we had people walking around – maybe going to watch other films or shopping in the mall – but then they also saw Turbo Grann𒉰y and the actors there. Then they ask, 'What is going on?' Then they might watch the anime because they saw it in the theater. That's also interesting."
Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye is out in US theaters now and in Europea🌱n theaters from June 7. Dan Da Dan season 2 is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix from July☂.

]]>While many anime use filler (it helps the manga get ahead of the anime), Naruto uses it far more than other big series, and it's been reported that 41% of Naruto's 700 episodes are filler. Now, I know that sounds bad, but honestly, not all the filler in Naruto is dreadful. In fact, when you decide to watch all of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Naruto in order, some filler actu🐓ally adds depth to characters and stories that didn't get the time to shiꦗne while Kishimoto was writing the manga week to week.
So, with that in mind, we've put togeth🤡er a comprehensive Naruto and Naruto Shippuden filler list (and mentioned which ones we think are worth watch𝔍ing) so that you can enjoy Naruto Uzumaki's journey from student to Hokage the right way.
The fiཧrst part of Naruto follows our titular hero as he gets to grips with th🥃e basics of being a ninja, meets his teammates, and learns his most iconic techniques. I can't lie; a lot of these filler arcs suck and should be avoided unless you're a Naruto completionist.
Below is the complete Naruto filler list:
You can definitely skip Episode 26 as it's essentially a clip show, and Episode 97 is very throwaway. That said, I do quite like The Land of Tea Escort Mission Arc; it adds some more context to why Sasuke decides to leave Konoha and explores his growing insecurity around Naruto's ever-increasing power. The Land of Rice Fields Inv🐻estigation Mission Arc also serves as a decent epilogue to the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, as well, and is worth a watch.
Sadly, most of the episodes between 148 and 219 are absolute stinkers, and the only ones I'd recommend are the Sunagakure 🥂Support Mission Arc, which runs from episodes 216 to 220. The only reason I can recommend them is because I'm a Gaara fanboy. Oh, and whatever you do, avoid the Mizuki Tracking Mis🍃sion arc. It's hot, stinky garbage.
Naruto Shippuden is set two years after our knuckle-headed ninja went to train with Jiraiya, and it's when♔ the series really gets going. This is when the Akatsuki makes their move. We learn more about the Tailed Beasts, and there's even another Ninja War.
The filler is also a lot better in Shippuden. While I'm not particularly partial to the Twelve Guardians Arc, it does flesh out Asuma's backstory and make his death more tragic. Meanwhile, the stuff around the Three-Tails (Guren and Crystal Release have always be♕en favorites of mine) and Six-Tails is brilliant and should have been included in the manga.
Below is the complete Naruto Shippuden filler list:
Of all these filler stories, the Kakashi: Shadow of the ANBU Black Ops arc is the one you really shouldn't skip. This arc explores Kakashi's backstory in the aftermath of Rin's death, and it's heartbreakin⛦g and exciting. It even has a little baby, Itachi! What's not to love? As for which ones to skip? Well, Episodes 257-260 are essentially just a recap of Sasuke and Naruto's falling out, and the Mecha Naruto Arc is also divisive.

Studio Chizu has confirmed that Scarlet is releasing worldwide on December 12, o♑nly a few weeks after its Japanese release on November 21.
The announcement revealed some details about the upcoming anime movie, which follows a princess seeking revenge for the death of her father. In a story that "transcends time and space", Princess Scarlet will navigate "a world full of madness" in an adventure "beyond imagination" that will put her face to🐻 face with her nemesis. "Will Scarlett be able to find a way to live at the end of her endless journey?," reads an early synopsis (via ).
After Hosoda fo𝔉und inspiration in The Beauty and the Beast for his last feature, 2021's Belle, this new film is also set to draw inspiration from another global classic, according to Japanese website , but the director hasn't revealed further details yet. ]]>For a generation of anime fans, nothing has quite scratched the Your Name itch since its release in 20ꦐ16.
Director Makoto Shinkai certainly delivered some of the decade's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime movies in Weathering With You and Suzume, but they haven't quite stacked up to the body-swapping romance classic that melted the hearts of mill♒ions almost a decade ago.
While the new Netflix animated movie Lost in Starlight might not quite fill the Your Name-shaped hole in your life, it's certainly g💃iving it a good shot.
Described by Parasite director Bong Joon-ho as a "visual masterpiece", the Korean film from Han Ji-won sees astronaut Nan-young (Kim Tae-ri) fall for musician Jay (Hong Kyung) in 2050s Seoul. But as Nan-young departs for Mars, the pair have🤡 to grapple with their love being separated across the cosmos.
As you can see from the trailer above, Lost in Starlight – set fo🔯r release on May 30 – is a real looker with its sun-drenched cities and pitch-black trip to the stars. ]]>So, I've rewatched all of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Naruto in order and looked through every village's records to bring you what's unarguably the definitive ranking of all the Akatsuki members. Well, I say every member; I haven't included Juzo or Orochimaru on this list because Juzo is a Naruto filler character, and we don't know enough about Orochimaru's power level when he was part of the team. If that a🔥nnoys you, well, I'm sorry, but they'd both be under Sasori (you can argue amongst yourselves as to where).
I've also treated Black Zetsu and White Zetsu as single members because, although they're technically two people, no one in the group treated them as two individuals, so I'm not going to either. Does that make me lazy? Naaaah. Now, let's get into one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime series around📖: here are the 10 strongest Naruto Akatsuki member♉s ranked!
Easily the weakest🍸 member of the Akatsuki, Zetsu himself admits he's not built for combat in the same way his colleagues are. Instea👍d, this sneaky shinobi has several versatile jutsu, most notably the Mayfly technique. This unique jutsu allows Zetsu to merge his body with the ground and travel anywhere he likes while being completely undetectable, even by the most proficient sensor ninjas.
Zetsu also has a powerful transformation 💞technique, which, when combined with his other moves, makes him a master of infiltration and assassination. It's also worth noting that while Zetsu may not be a powerhouse in the leagu🃏e of Itachi and Pain (to be fair, few ninjas are,) he's not going to lose to any random schmuck. His unique physiology gives him the ability to use the Wood Release and every other nature type, so he's more than capable of throwing hands if he needs to.
Poor Hidan. When your signat💛ure jutsu involves dying, you know you're in trouble. Yes, Hidan might be an S-Rank ninja, but realistically, he's a one-trick pony – it's just that his one trick is pretty deadly. You see, Hidan is completely immortal, courtesy of the god Jashin. This means he can be impaled, beheaded, incinerated, and survive. To make matters worse, he's got a technique that allows him to transfer any of the damage he takes on to the person who damaged him.
He's basically a walking, talking voodoo doll. Sounds cool, right? Well, no. Hidan’s technique isn't automatic, and it takes a ritual to perform. This means if you know his secrets and can stop♛ him from setting up his jutsu, he's basically as useless as an ice cream handbag in the desert. Beyond this technique, H𓄧idan has no other jutsu and an IQ lower than Sasuke's mood on the Uchiha massacre anniversary. Basically, he's rubbish, and I presume he was only allowed into the Akatsuki to make up numbers.
A powerful kunoichi, Konan has an incredible power that makes her one of the deadliest ninjas in the world. Through unknown means, she can transfo🀅rm her body into paper, allowing her to form wings, 🔜weapons, shields, and anything else she can imagine. In the anime, we see her put this power to deadly use, smoothing and skewering her opponents with terrifying ease.
Konan combines her incredible power with an impressive level of strategy and high🌳 analytical skills. It was this that allowed her to work out Obito's weaknesses and push the seemingly i💧nvincible Uchiha to the brink of death. So why's she ranked so low? Sadly, we never see her win a fight, and sadly, she has a really lame weakness. Yes, what happens when paper gets wet? It falls apart – just like Konan.
If we were ranking the Akatsuki by sheer awesomeness, then Deidara would be top of the list, but sadly, this is a power ranking, and I'm afraid he doesn't crack the top five. Why? Well, while his explosive 🦹clay techniques are🍬 impressive, and he puts them to creative use, the sad fact is that Deidara only really knows how to do one thing, which is blow things up.
Now, I must admit he does that wonderfully; his C4 technique, which releases microscopic bombs, is particularly terrifying, and he did manage to defeat Gaara single-handedly. 💦Yet against an opponent capable of neutralizing his bombs like Sasuke or 🌺fast enough to lock him in genjutsu, he's essentially powerless. Indeed, Deidara admitted he was weaker than his master, Sasori… speaking of which.
By far the most underrated member of the Akatsuki, Sasori had the ignominy of being the first member of the group to die. However, that doesn't mean he's weak. In fact, Sasori was a sort of one-man army that canonically defeated an entire country with his legions of puppets. Oh yeah, you read that right. Sasori uses puppets, but tℱhese aren't the puppets you see on Sesame Street. Each of Sasori's puppets is a deadly weapon, full of blades, projectiles, and gallons of poisonous gas, allowing 🍃him to fight his opponent from a safe distance.
But wait, there's more because these puppets are made from the bodies of𓄧 his dead opponents, which lets him use any of their techniques, kekkei genkai, or jutsu. Sounds pretty powerful, right? It gets worse. Sasori has converted himself into a living puppet, so even if you defeat his hundreds of puppets, you have to deal with his most potent weapon yet: himself. So, if he had all that going for him, how did Sasori lose? He let himself lose. It sounds like Kishi just wrote himself into a corner to me.
Kakuzu's a super strong ninja who, similarly to Sasori, often gets underestimated. Why don't Naruto fans ratꦏe Sasori? Sadly, the Akatsuki's unofficial treasurer had the bad luck to try and fight the show's protagonist right after a training arc (if he'd ever watched an anime, he'd know that's a recipe for disaster). In all seriousness, though, Kazuku was a beast; he had access to every nature type, knew offensive and defensive techniques, and could combine elements on the fly.
However, what made him such a terrifying threat was his signature jutsu, the Earth Grudge Fear, which granted him several unique powers, including immortality (sorry, Hidan), regeneration, and the ability to transform his body into weird black tendrils, which he could manipulate at will. All of this made Kakuzu powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Hashirama, the First Hokage. So, with all that in mind, why isn't he in the top spot? Well, honestly, Kakuzu migh♚t be a beast, but everyone else on this list is a monster.
Arguably the most inhuman of the Akatsuki, Kisame was completely loyal to the group's mission, which made him a ferocious fighter, especially when backed into a corner. Not that he needed much help in that regard, because Kisame, as befits his shark-like appearance, was an incredibly dangerous ninja. His basic skills were impressive enough; he was a master of water ninjutsu, an accomplished swordsman, and his taijutsu skills were high enough that he could hold off Team Gai using just 60% of his power.
What really made Kisame such a threat, though, was his sword, Samehada. This living weapon had a ravenous appetite for chakra, and with a single swing, Kisame could steal the energy of any opponent he fought. Not only that, the sword could effectively neutralize any jutsu thrown at Kisame. Incredibly, though, that wasn't the limit of the pair's power. Kisame and Samehada could fuse, becoming a horrifying sﷺhark-like monster with incredible chakra reserves. This form was capable of bringing ninja as powerful as Killer-B to their knees and made Kisame one of Akatsuki’s top fighters. His only weakness? Well, Samehada is a fickle beast, and let's just say it's not afraid of betraying its master if it finds a more delicious chakra source.
Itachi is a ludicrously powerful ninja. He graduated from the academy at age six and was an Anbu at age 11. Even by the standards of the incredibly talented Uchiha clan, Itachi was seen as a prodigy, a genius among geniuses, who'd lead the clan to great things. Then he murdered them all. Yes, at the tender age of just 13, he wiped out one of the ninja world's strongest clans and cemented himself as a legend. That may seem obscene, but his powers and skill made it child's play. In all seriousness, Itachi has superb taijutsu and ninjutsu skills, but it's his genjutsu abilities that make him such a powerhouseꩲ.
With a glance from his Sharingan, he can cast illusions so powerful they're indistinguishable from reality, allowing him to easily defeat even the most powerful opponents. Unarguably, though, 𓆉what makes Itachi one of the Aktsuki's most prized fighters is his Mangekyou Sharingan, which gives him access to Amaterasu (black fire that can burn through anything), Tsukuyomi (the most powerful genjutsu in the series), and Susano, a sort of kaij🐭u-sized chakra avatar. Itachi also wields the Sword of Totsuka and the Yata Mirror. Oh, and he can rewrite reality by sacrificing the sight in his eyes. So, how was he defeated? Well, he does have one weakness: he loves his little brother.
The self-proclaimed God of the Shinobi world, Pain doesn't just talk the talk. He walks the walk. What makes him very nearly the top dog? Well, he has the Rinnegan, special eyes that are supposedly a gift from the gods, which give Pain powers beyond imagining. He can manipulate gravity, summon unique and powerful animals, absorb chakra, tear people's souls from their bodies, hear your thoughts, shoot missiles from his head (yes, really), a✤nd absorb chakra. He's essentially every member of the Akatsuki in one body… actually no. He's every member of the Akatsuki in six bodies because Pain, real name Nagato, doesn't go into battle himself. He splits his power into six bodies (known as the Six Paths of Pain) that he controls remotely, which allows him to stay safe regardless of what happens to his puppets.
Not that much happens to his puppets becaus♈e of how obscenely strong they are. This guy took down the entire Konoha military single-handedly, killed Jiraiya and Kakashi, and basically made every leaf shinobi who wasn’t called Naruto look like they were fresh out of the academy. Even when Naruto arrived, it turned out that the title character was barely a match for Pain, and it took the combined efforts of the Toad Sages, three kaiju-sized toad summons, and a last-minute save from Hinata and Naruto's ghost parents fꦍor them to defeat the Six Paths. The only reason Nagato lost? He fell victim to Naruto's most powerful ability, the talk-no-jutsu.
Now I know what you're thinking after Pain and Itachi; how broken must Obito be? Well, he's more broken than a LEGO set that's𝓀 just fallen off a 30-foot skyscraper into a pool of plastic melting acid. Obito is bonkers. Not only does he have the usual Uchiha abilities – the Sharingan, powerful chakra, and all that good stuff – he was trained by Madara, the strongest Uchiha in history, has the same body as Zetsu, giving him Wood release, and he's got a Rinnegan just like Pain.
Yes, you read that right he's effectively a grab bag of every power we’ve listed so far (Except Hidan's powers because he sucks), but there's more. Like Itachi, Obito has unique Man🐟gekyou Sharingan powers that let him control time and space. Using this power, which is called Kamui, he can teleport himself, become completely intangible, and suck people into fissures into the space-time continuum. He can literally blink you out of existence. Terrifying right?

]]>The anime studio, whose existing titles include Erased, Black Butler, and Solo Leveling, s💟hared today (April 11) that it's developing a film based on Keigo Higashino's bestseller Kusunoki no Bannin (Keeper of the Camphor Tree). It also shared that it's aiming for a 2026 release in Japan.
Published in 2020, the novel follows Reito Naoi after he is unceremoniously sacked from his job and ✤arrested, after he tries to retaliate by stealing a valuable device from his workplace. Later, a random encounter with a mysterious lawyer kicks off a chain of bizarre meetings that, in turn, see him become the caretaker of a supposedly wish-granting tree. Over time, Reito discovers that his life shares a special connection to the tree, and sets out on a mission to unravel its secrets.

]]>While it's a faux pas to skip through wester🦹n shows in the hopes of finding the treasure within, anime viewers are a lot more accustomed to picking and choosing which episodes to watc🥂h.
Seeing as how One Piece is one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime series around, you may want to know which episodes are wort🔯h your time and which ones, frankly, aren't.
To help, we've charted all the One Piece filler episodes and movies for you to have the smoothest voyage possible through Eiichiro Oda's beloved franchise. We can tell you every bit of filler, then map out which episodes should sink without a trace in your upcoming One Piece marathon. Of course, it's all up to you. We're just giving you the treasure map; the spoils you go for are entirely your own decision. You can also check out our guide to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码🉐历史查询:One Piece Egg𓃲head Arc release schedule if you want to keep up with the newest adventures. For now, though, let's set sail🎀 for Luffy and pals.
Thankfully, One Piece doesn't have a lot of filler. Many long-running anime shows have a certain amoun🅰t due to the production company catching up to the manga and needing to let more plot build up. Despite running for over 1100 episodes, only around 9% of them are filler, or 95 episodes.
The storylines are often just as wild as any other season, but they don't have any real lasting impact. More often than not, the Straw Hats wind up having to wriggle out of some unexpected situation. Occasionally, we get a history lesson, with some backstory for members of the crew, and sometimes a filler episode is purely a one-off story about Luffy and his cohorts🥂 in any time period, and what that looks like.
The same can't be said of the movies. 11 out of 15 are totally filler, but because of their greater production value and self-contained stories, there's a stron൲ger case for not missing them out.
Nonetheless, here's the complete One Piece filler list:
While you can skip every episode and movie of One Piece filler, a couple of them do add some value to the overall narrative. You get a deeper understanding of some characters, as well as fun adven💯tures and, especially ꧅in the case of the films, some stunning animation.
The G-8 Arc is the biggest highlight, where the Going Merry, ﷽the ship of the Straw Hats, is taken by the Marines. Luffy and the crew have to split up to get it back in the𓆏 marine base, each taking a different path and employing different means to get to their treasured vessel.
The Post-Arabasta Arc is another that gives more substan🐎ce to the Straw Hats, providing flashbacks to five members of the crew. Luffy and Robin aren't included, letting you focus entirely on other characters who don't get as much attention otherwise.
In terms of the movies, much like Dragon Ball Z, none of them are necessary ✤for the ongoing plot. However, they shine in terms of production, and a few will tug on your hear🎶tstrings and have you on the edge of your seat.
Of the 15 (!) so far, we recommend these five: Strong World, Z, Gold, Stampede, and Red, each for a distinct reason. Strong World is🍒 actually written by Eiichiro Oda, and you geꦛt more time with Shiki, a canonical villain. Z is a fan-favorite, pitting the Straw Hats in a race against time to prevent a cataclysmic event. If you like heist movies, Gold plays like the Straw Hats starring in their own version of Ocean's Eleven, making it incredibly fun.
Stampede's plot concerns the quest for the One Piece, and why it matters that the whole journey is ta🅠king so long🤪. Finally, Red has a clever plot that's well told with some gorgeous visuals, and it's worth watching just to see how far the franchise has come on-screen.
You should catch three One Piece filler arcs in particular. The G-8 Arc is a funny, smart romp with a lot of nuance on who each of the Straw Hats are. Many fans are hoping it's retroactively made canon, and it's treated with some reverence within the wider co🌠mmunity.
The Post-Arabasta Arc provides good backstory to the crew outside of Luffy and Robin, a treat for anyone who loves 𒈔their mythology. Finally, the Boss Luffy Historical Specials are single-episode stories where the Straw 🔯Hats are in a different era from history. They're just charming TV through and through.
The best One Piece filler arcs to watch:
We don't expect the One Piece remake to have any filler episodes.
If there are any, it'🦩ll be a minimal amount. The One Piece remake is a full reboot from the ground up, improving visuals and tightening up the writing across the board.
Modern anime production has moved away from filler as we once understood it. Studios don't need to produce as many weekly episodes anymore, since seasons have gotten shorter and much of the audience is ܫonline.
Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and My Hero Academia, many of the biggest properties of the last 15 or so years, have much, much less filler compared to what came before. Even the associated films are bec🦂oming canon, as both Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen have movies using actual manga so🌌urce material.
Rather than filler, we tend to get stopgap movies between seasons, such as Spy x Family Co꧙de: White, or compilation𒀰 films, like Solo Leveling: ReAwakening. The former doesn't affect the status quo, and the latter is usually a blend of existing footage and a preview of what's coming.

]]>The first season's finale will be bundled with the opening trio of entries in the upcoming second season for a compilation movie titled Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye. As the name suggests, it's going to adapt the manga's Evil Eye arc, which sees protagonist Momo's friend possessed by a vengeful (꧂and murderous) spirit.
Pleasingly, this isn't going to be a situation akin to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle or the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Chainsaw Man movie and their slow and staggered release plans. Instead, there will be a "global theatrical rollout" in the lead-up to July's season ▨2 bow on Netflix. It's landing in the US on June 5 and Europe in Ju😼ne 6.
Its sudden move to cinemas proves that Dan Da Dan was one of the standout 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime in 2024 – and looks to cap🉐italize on a surge in fandom for the supernatural love story. The compilation movie, too, is the latest entry in a trend that has provided earl𝔍y, bundled looks at the likes of Demon Slayer, Solo Leveling, and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Revolving around the most unlikely of duos, Dan Da Dan pairs up the bookish Okarun and the headstrong Momo, who each believe in a separate strand of the supernatural and the occult. The kicker? Okarun believes in UFOs, while Momo swears alie🥃ns don't exist. Momo is more a ghost-believing gal – something that tickles Okarun until he suddenly comes face to face with a fearsome spirit.

The news was confirmed by Sony Pictures at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, as reported by . Sony has acquired worldwide theatrical rights to the movie, and will bring the anime adaptation to more than 80+ countries fro♊m September 24, 2025.

#ChainsawManMovie i♐s coming exclusively to theatreꩲs October 29. pic.twitter.com/Je02zmQ5nm
The movie serves as a sequel to the highly popular 2022 anime TV show Chainsaw Man, which is in turn adapted from the manga of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The show follows a teenage boy named Denji who is forced to harvest devil corpses for the Chainsaw Devil Pochita. However, one day Denji is killed himself, but before he passes to the other sid☂e, he makes a deal with Pochita to be revived as a man with the devil’s heart known as Chainsaw Man.
The Ch🅰ainsaw Man Movie seems to pick up from where season 1 leaves off and sees Denji now happily part of the Special Division 4's devil hunters and dating the woman of his dreams Maꦛkima. However, things take a turn after Denji meets local café worker named Reze (hence the Reze Arc).
The film welcomes back some of the original Chainsaw Man crew, such as director Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously directed the fourth and tenth episodes of the series, and writer Hiroshi Seko. Original🌺 character designer Kazutaka Sugiyama is also back on 💧board.

What can we expect from the Reze Arc? As we already ꦚknow, it's a canon continuation of Chainsaw Man in place of a second season.
As per its synopsis, "Denji became Chainsaw Man a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date꧙ with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café."
Those with a cursory eye on the manga will know it adapts the Bomb Girl arc (chapters 40-52) which, itself, is around halfway through the ser⛦ies' first part, titled Public Safety Saga. In short, things are about to get explosive.

]]>The renowned animator and director took to Twitter on March 18 to point out that ꧋the day marked 53 years since Kamen Rider vs. Shocker premiered – and kickstarted his love of the genre. He also pointed out that it had been two years exactly since Shin Kamen Rider, his acclaimed live-action take on the m꧋aterial, was released.
"As of today, I am currently working on voice recording and writing screenplays for five different works," Anno continued. "But if the Shin Kamen Rider: Kamen no Sekai [Masker World] project is green-lit, I would also like to work h𒈔ard on it as a sixth project."

It's unclear whether or not the Studio Khara founder was including his upcoming Gundam series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX as one of the "five different works", though it seems safe to assume so given that it's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:set to air on Prime Video from 🗹April 8. With that, it's unlikely he's still working on post-production or penning sc💮ripts for it.
"I'm guessing: Return of Shin Ultraman, Shin UltraSeven (these first two were in the Shin Ultraman pitch document from a few years), Sp🎐ace⛄ Battleship Yamato, another Evangelion movie? and maybe something Gquuuuux related?" .
"One of them is probably Yamato, but I'm really curious about the other four," , while : "Shin Yamato, Sieg Axe 🐷Movie Version, Shin Returnꦛ of Man, Shin Sentai, Shin Mighty Jack?"
Back in October 202💙4, it was announced that Studio Khara had acquired the rights to produce a new Space Battleship Yamato animated film, and that production was tentatively expected to kick off in 2025. Anno has said to have been quietly working on Shin Kamen Rider: Masker World since April 2023, around the time his first reimagining came out.
As for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, "Amate Yuzuriha, a high schoo꧅l girl who lives a peaceful life in a space colony floating in space, meets Nyaan, a war refugee girl, and gets caught up in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition 'Clan Battle'," reads the official synopsis. "Using the entry name 'MACHU' Amate pilots a GQuuuuuuX and throws herself into fierce battles every day. At the same time, an unidentified Mobile Suit 'Gundam,' pursued by both the space army and the police, and its pilot, a boy named Shuuji, appears before her. ]]>According to the musical anime movie Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle has earned more than $5 million at Japan's box office so far. Created by Japanese pr༒oduction company King Records, the film is currently playing in 85 cinemas across Japan and is said to be the wor♑ld’s first fully interactive theatrical film.
The anime follows six battle rap teams competing for musical glory. The story is set around a string of rap battles featuring songs from Japan’s leading hip-hop groups. The whole film comes under two hours but there are actually over five hours of footage to be seen, totaling 48 different outcom🦹es based on which route audiences decide to take.
So, how does it work? Viewers must first download the Hypnosis Mic app onto their phone and then once at the cinema, moviegoers will be able to scan a QR code that links the app with the screen in front of them. Then, at numerous points throughout the film, vieweꩲrs are able to vote on their desired outcome.
Of course, interactive film isn't ♛unheard of as Netflix has tried its hand with it in the past with Black Mirror: Bandersnatch for example, but to have this experience in the cin🔜ema is certainly new. The most impressive part is that over 30 percent of the film’s viewers have returned to see it more than once. This is because repeat viewing allows moviegoers to pick different outcomes until their ideal route is chosen via the group voting system.
Due to its success in Japan, King Records, who supply the technology for interactive screenings, is looking to expand internat🌠ional markets. The device needed is෴ about the size of two PlayStations that runs on high-speed internet and a connection to a projector, meaning, it can be used at virtually any theater.

A 24-episode anime series aired in Japan from April 2007 to September 2007, and adapted the first through eleven volumes of the manga. The episodes can be currently be streamed in th𓂃e US on Crunchyroll.
Per Deadline, the upcoming live-action series adaptation "aims to preserve the action and complex moral dilemmas of the original manga and the anime TV series." The report also notes that there's been an increased interest in live-action anime adaptations due to the success of Netflix's One Piece, which did, indeed, effectively end the Western live-action curse by not only being manga-accurate, but also by leaning into the true campy and soap opera elements that anime often comes ꦿwith.

Princess Mononoke was a hit with critics and has a near-perfect score of 93%🤡 on Rotten Tomatoes. It was a success at the Japanese box office, too, becoming the highes🥂t-grossing movie in the country. Now, almost three decades later, it's still the eighth highest-grossing movie of all time in Japan.
While the re-release is limited to North America for now, it's quite likely that the movie might make its way across the pond in the near future as there have been a spate of Ghibli re-releases over the past few months. A movie so magnificent that it skyrocketed to #1 on my favorite films of 2024 list. More people needed to see this film because there was an endless sಌupply of talented individuals who made this Tokusatsu film something truly magical."
"Honestly it's a miracle that a movie like Rising even exists in the first place, so I'll take that as a win at least," said another. "Maybe one day we’ll get a sequel🦋."
Based on Tsuburaya Productions' Ultraman franchise, the film landed on Netflix back in June 2024, and swiftly earned itself an impressive 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. It centers on all-star baseball player Kenji 'Ken' Sato, who abandons his career in the US to return home to Japan and follow in his superhero father's footsteps. Taking on the mantle of Ultraman, he's forced to defend Tokyo🤡 from giant monsters. But his mission is compromised when he stumbles across a baby kaiju in need of a family; albeit 🍰a 35-foot tall firebreather.
Before long, Sato takes it upon himself to put asid𝓀e his ego and balance work and parenthood, to protect the little one from those looking to corrupt her immense power.
Christopher Sean (You), 🔴Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles), Tamlyn Tomita (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Keone Young (Star Wars Rebels), and Julia Harriman round up the voice cast.

]]>My general attitude is that if learning what happens in a movie or show truly ruins the experience for you, it's not a particularly good movie or show on its own merits. The plot is just one aspect of the whole, after all. Learning a single part of a movie or show only slightly impacts foreknowledge, in the same way that knowing Robert Pattinson is in Mickey 17 and does a little voice again doesn't tell the whole story about that movie. If anything, I'm maybe more excited to see Mickey 17 because I know Pattinsonꦺ does a little voice in it.
So, sure, watch the trailer for theatrical compilation anime film Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- (again, yes, really) and peep the key art and synopsis. And maybe eyeba꧑ll what some 🐻of your favorite critics are saying about it if you're willing to gamble. Or wait to watch the anime series proper when it starts actually airing in early April. But I beg of you: avoid learning anything else that you possibly can. Find out about the little voice, so to speak, but don't dig 🎀any deeper.
It's not like GQuuuuuuX (once more, yes, really) will be actively worse for having been spoiled. The movie and series will remain just as valuable as works of art. But if you can manage to experience either or both with a fresh perspective, that's going to go a long way. I wish I'd been aඣble to follow my own advice – don't get me wrong, I had a great time, but I suspect that my experience would have been all the more heightened the first time through if I didn't really know🔴 what I was getting myself into.
Making this kind of plea is inherently difficult, however. If I told you why I think folks should go in largely blind, well, that… wouldn't be going in largely blind, would it? But it makes the logical aspect here fairly feckless. Logically, there's no good way to convince you to not go check out all the trailers and hashtags to your heart's desire; I'm prohibited b𒈔y the very nature of 💯my argument from actually making it.
And so, pathos it is. You cannot replicate the experience of not knowing something. Experiencing anything at all for the first time is not a repeatable action, and when you know what Mobile Suit Gundam G♛QuuuuuuX (for one final time, yes, really) is all about, well, you know that for good. Unless you forget, of course. This whole point is moot for people with a bad or faulty memory, and for all the times you've lost your keys at least you folks also g❀et to keep a sense of wonder about things.
But it's that same wonder here that I implore you to protect. In my own case, and again because of the hazards of my job, I lea𒊎rned just a smidge too much. I still had a great time with the compilation movie, but I do wish someone had taken me by the shoulders and told me not to wantonly Google the name of the film in my search for showtimes. So, consider 𓄧this me digitally taking you by the virtual shoulders; you can thank me later.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is currently airing in theaters. The full Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series is set to begin airing in Japan on April 8, and looks to be heading to Amazon's Prime Video internationally. ]]>Titled Haikyuu VS The Little Giant, it sees Hinata go up against another diminutive opponent as thౠe Nationals continue following the dramatic events of last year's The Dumpste🍷r Battle.
Below, you'll find everything that's been revealed about the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new anime movie so far, including its very first trailer. We'll also speculate further about release dates, which manga chapters could be adapted, where the story is picking up from, and a larger look at whether this is actually the final Haikyuu movie.
So, get set – and ready to spike: this is your guide to Haikyuu VS The Little Giant, a possible last farewell for the volleyball anime. For more, check out our guides to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Demon Slayer Infinity Castle, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:One-Punch Man season 3.
As of writing, no release date for Haikyuu VS The Little G🐻iant has been announced.
But we certainly have some ideas on when it might make it back onto the court. For further clarification, we should head back to the previous movie's release plans. There, The Dumpster Battle was announced in August 2022 before finally dropping some 18 months later in 💛February 2024 in Japan.
If that's the same again, we wouldn't be surprised to see a fall 2026 release date as each Little Giant does b🍎attle with each other on the grandest stage of them 🧸all – in cinemas.
Given that the production teams now have their fair share of feature film experience (and not to discount that this was potentially being worked on back to back with the last film), a 2026 r💫elease window feels realistic. The fact that a release date hasn't yet been given seems to completely rule out a 2025 arrival, however – at least in the west.
Haikyuu VS The Little Giant will adapt the majority of the remaining chapters in the ๊manga's Tokyo Nationals Arc, but not all of it (more on that in just a moment).
For this movie, all you need to know is ♊it's set to cover around chapter 327 and then chapters 338-365.
The Little Giant is set to pick up immediately where The Dumpster Battle movie left off. With Karasuno havꦅing finally defeated their eternal rivals Nekoma – and sparking Kenma's passion for the game – they move on to the quarter finals to face opponents Kamomedai High and their star player Korai Hoshiumi, AKA The Little Giant.
Unfortunately for Hinata, he's set to find out why his rival is also called The Little Giant – the nickname of a player ♋he once looked ಞup to. While we don't spoil the action (or the result) here, expect another fast and furious encounter as each school bids to stay in the tournament.
Completionists should also ensure they watch the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming Haikyuu special The Place Wh𝔍ere Monsters Go. That will cover the quarter final match between two other schools, Fukurodani and Mujinazaka and their respective aces Bokuto and Kiryu. For those reading along in the manga, that's covered by chapters 328-337.
Now, this is interesting. In 2022, it was ꦗannounced that Haikyuu would come to an end with two 'FINAL' movies instead of the expected fifth season.
But it remains to be seen whether VS The Little Giant is actually the final movie. Notably, the show's has removed 'Final' from The Little Giant's movie title – and given fans fresh hope that the manga's post-timeskip Final Arc will be a⛄dapted.
Given that The Dumpster Battle made a cool $100 million at the worldwide box office – making it the 30th highest-grossing Japanese film of all time – it a🎃ppears there's plenty of demand for fresh volleyball action from Hinata and his team. We certainly wouldn't rule out a Final Arc adaptation – whether that's on the big screen, a fifth season, or a series of television specials. Watch this space🐓.
Despite the movღie still not having a release date, the first Haikyuu VS The Little Giant trailer is here.
The minute-long teaser, which☂🎉 you can see above, charts Karasuno's exploits in both their biggest matches to date as well as their current run of tournament victories. Then, focus moves to their opponents Kamomedai and their own 'Little Giant', Hoshiumi.
Will Hinata fly high or will Hoshiumi fly that little bit higher? The Little Giant looks set to answer that question. While t🅰hat's still up for debate, the trai⭕ler teases that we'll get even more high-octane, fist-pumping volleyball action from the animation studio Production I.G.
A VS The Little Giant poster has also been released, showcasing some of the players that have strutted their stuff at the Nationals. See it for ⛄yourself🌳 below.
As you might imagine, all of Karasuno's players 💧will be back on the court for VS The Little Giant. That includes Hinata (voiced by Ayumu Marase), the irascible setter Kageyama (Kaito Ishikawa), and Karasuno's captain Daichi (Satoshi Hino). Quiet-willed Asahi (Yoshimasa Hosoya), libero Nishinoya (Nobuhiko Okamoto) and hot-headed Tanaka (Yu Hayashi) will join the fray against Kamomedai in the quarter final.
Other players include Tsukushima (Koki Uchiyama), Sugawara (🐬Miyu Irino) and Yamaguchi (Soma Saito), while Hitoka Yachi (Sumire Morohoshi) and Kiyoko Shimizu (Kaori Nazuka) wil𝔍l be watching from the sidelines.
On the opposing side, Kamomedai's team consists of ace Hosh💙iumi (Natsuki Hanae), middle blocker Hirugami (Yu Miyazaki), and setter Sawa (TBA), who also captains the team.
If it follows the first movie, Haikyuu VS The Little Giant will 🧔first be avౠailable in cinemas before being made available to stream for Crunchyroll members six months after its western release.

]]>As rev♏ealed at the Corps Gathering ev♓ent on March 1, the upcoming feature is hitting cinemas on July 18, 2025.
For those out of the loo🔯p with Tanjiro's demon-hunting exploits, the manga's In🐓finity Castle arc is set to be adapted as a full movie trilogy.
Depending on how closelꦫy it follows Koyoharu Gotouge’s source material, it co🌄uld cover both the Infinity Castle arc (chapters 137-183) and the Sunrise Countdown arc (chapters 184-205). That would, in theory, bring the entire Demon Slayer story to a close on the big screen instead of on streaming.
The last we saw of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro, his friends, and his Hashira allies were drawn into the 'Infinity Castle', the headquarters of series' Big Bad Muzan Kibutsuji and ♓his legion of remaining, uber-powerful, Upper Rank demons.
While Demon Slayer has released a series of recap and compilation movies in recent years, 2025's Infinity Castle movie stands to be the first full-fat, original feature for theꦍ hit anime since♒ 2020's Mugen Train.

]]>The film, which is an edited, theatrical version of some episodes in the new Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX TV show – set to release in Japan on April 8 – has enough merit to fill a gold mine. It shouldn't need to rely on cheap peeks under 🅰her schoolgirl skirt.
GQuuuuuuX is the series' first major collaboration between 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno's Khara studio and Bandai Namco's Sunrise – "a crossing of dreams," Gundam calls it in . Anno hims💞elf co-wrote the script alongside Revolutionary Girl Utena writer Yoji Enokido, while Anno's disciple and Evangelion director Kazuya Tsurumaki handled GQuuuuuuX's direction.
That is enough industry power to keep a wind turbine swirling, and the result is both visually and emotionally stunning. The alternate universe movie follows Machu, a high schooler with pink hair and a⭕ natural ability to command the fearsome mobile suit GQuuuuuuX. She uses the suit – clumsily lost by the Zeon military, coaxing Challia Bull into a wary pursuit – in illegal "clan battles," hoping to win money for the quiet, blue-haired delivery girl Nyaan while growing closer to her mysterious second-in-command Shuji.
I quickly became attached to Machu while watching GQuuuuuuX at its New York premiere. While the movie supplies barely any details about her life beyond a few casual remarks – she goes to cram school, her mother loves her – it emphasizes her listlessness at several points. Machu aches to experience real gravity and real s♈eas, not the manufactured environment of her colony in UC 0085. Even with the galaxy spilling endless stars around her, she wonders, "C💧an you be free in space?"
Her philosophical angs෴t is fresh and relevant, reminding me of my own ennui existing in a society where billionaires romanticize Mars, and the world seemingly has little regard for women's safety. GQuuuuuuX's laser sword✤s and pretty character designs – reminiscent of the clean and colorful style of the original '80s Gundam – emphasize Machu's revelation when she discovers a portal of fractured, rainbow light during a mobile suit battle.
"Kira kira," she call📖s it, or glitter, a vacuum of endless shine she💞 starts to yearn for.
I love Machu for her ambition. Ultimately, she's an unabashedly girly genius, who modernizes the Gundam franchise by being one of its few female protagonists with dimension. That's a cue GQuuuuuuX seems to take from Evangelion. But, despite both the character and the film's impressiveness, I just can't get over the fact that, in GQuuuuuuX – much like Evangelion treats its own f♊emale characters – Machu is mercilessly sexualized.
Right after we see Machu's face in GQuuuuuuX, we see her underwear. The high schooler is introduced in a handstand position, surrounded by a crowd of classmate🔯s squealing about her panties. From this early moment in the film, I felt my guard go up, making it impossible to🎐 savor any of the intriguing moments that were to follow.
Hypersexualizing young girls is one of anime's most perva꧟sive tropes, and it's as revolting as a wound that won't close. Apart from contributing to a , legendary but lecherous anime like 🅷Evangelion also makes it impossible for me as a female audience member to legitimately connect with a female character. There's always a voice whispering in the back of my mind, reminding me that she's only here for people to gawk at, not relate to.
It's alienating. And it's disappointing that Machu is subjected to such lazy exploitation; GQuuuuuuX also depicts the small, obviously young character naked in the bathtub in an unnecessarily drawn-out sequence, and naked in the kira kira, though no other character who passes through the sparkle appears to lose their clothes. She also wiggles through an older man's legs while controlling a mobile suit for the first time, something that made my screening's a🐲udience giggle.
But, for me, these uncomfortable moments sit like black coffee on an empty stomach. It's not like collaborator Hideaki Anno can't do better – the writer's 1998 live-action experimental film Love & Pop is highly c👍ondemnatory of the deranged Japanese men who pay to date its naive high sch🌺ool protagonists.
That movie has plenty of intimate shots of its young female characters – the camera often swoops under their uniform skirts, or glares at their bare legs – but its context is critical, not blissfully unrelated like GQuuuuuuX. In Love & Pop, teen🐼 girls are surrounded by staring eyes, unwanted hands, stinking hot breath at the back of their necks. So, even the camera becomes part of the frenzy, suggesting that the vulnerable girls are always seen as sexual, even when they're alone, even when they're afraid. But in the unrelated GQuuuuuuX, getting a glimpse of Machu's undies or bare shoulders turns her body into a spectator sport.
Machu deserves better, as do incoming fans of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX𝕴's otherwise refreshing take on the franchise. I left the film wondering, why do robots deserve mor🀅e respect than a girl?

One day, she finds a letter without an aಌddress and sets out to find the sender with her partner Pokémon, Fuecoco. The sender turns out to be a young boy named Rio, who wrote the l𝔍etter for his father's birthday as he's currently working away from home in another region. The film is currently number seven in Netflix's top 10 movie chart, above Norbit, Mission: 🌼Impossible – Dead Reckoning, and Shrek the Third. The first two Shrek movies, B🐽ack in Action, and Kinda Pregnant are all pulling in more views, however.

Mobile Suit Gundam, created by Yoshiyuki Tomino, is a robot (or mecha) anime that first aired back in 1979, and now comprises 25 series, a massive 34 movies, and much more besides, including OVAs, TV specials, manga, video games, and novel๊s. ]]>"I don't think there was anything particularly new about [this] Geralt. The writers were really good about keeping him familiar. I think if he wasn't, that would be a problem," Cockle told GamesRadar+ of Sirens of the Deep, which also features the voices of Jaskier actor Joey Batey and 🤡Yennefer 💖actor Anya Chalotra.
"I've been voicing Geralt since 2005, so I don't think he has any surprises in store for me. If he doe🍷s, [The Witcher author] Andrzej Sapkowski is going to ha💞ve to write them."
Sirens of the Deep – which is set between the fifth and sixth episodes of The Witcher season 1 – does see Geralt and Doug Cockle head into uncharted waters in some respects, ✃however.
As The White Wolf finds himself caught in the middle of a brewing wa꧋r between merpeople and humans, he has to eit🌜her let his sword do the talking or, in this case, a new language.
"One of the th🌳ings that was reaℱlly fun about recording Sirens of the Deep is the merspeak, which I found really challenging," Cockle reveals. "If anything, that's a new facet to [Geralt] that we didn't know about… He does try his hand at merspeak and me doing it, me performing, it was really hard."
But Cockle remains clear: the Geralt in Sirens of the Deep, Netflix universe or otherwise, is ultimately in line with the one he has played across several game titles and, presumably, will do so again in the future in 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:The Witcher 4.
"I had to 💜bring Geralt," Cockle says. "When I was asked to do it, they didn't say, 'Can you make this change?' I just brought my Ger💙alt to the table… Watching the [film] myself, I thought, 'This is my Geralt.'"

The movie, which is out now, is as sweetly original as the gum-wrappered insides of a high school student's locker; Catholic school girl Totsuko doesn't quite have synesthesia, but she sees people's colorful auras. Kind, spiritual, and a little bit of a dummy, Totsuko is lost until she starts a band with her blue-green friends Kimi and Rui, a "music otaku," Yamada said through a translator at The Colors Within's New York premiere, who happens to play the theremin – t🌳een stuff.
"There's really no name for why [Totsuko] is this way," Yamada tells us through a translator during an interview conducted ahead of the Animation is Film Festival in October 2024. "It's really just how she sees the world, and how she relates to other people. [...] I was hoping it would be an opening into helping audiences realize something about themselves, like, 'Oh, when I talk to people, this is where I get this feeling.'"
Watching The Colors Within, I was moved by how much I related to Totsuko in unpredictably tiny ways. Like the protagonist, who bounces around with hair rendered wheat-gold by Yamadওa's pastel-colored brush, I was raised Christian, with an emphasis on expression and feeling God in your heart. Totsuko and I both sing and pray for the orbit of the planets, ice cream, and even the snowfall sway of Gisele, a ballet I love that I was surprised to discover Totsuko loves, too.
This is the power of specificity. Though many coming-of-age movies strive for universal relatability with blanket facts – gym class, mꦏean dad, best f♏riends – I found The Colors Within so emotional because its characters couldn't be mistaken for anyone else.
"With an original [film]," Yamada, who's worked extensively on manga adaptations like K-On!, explains to us, "I have to create something from scratch, be the biggest fan of it myself, and then make it. [It's a] big hurdle, because if I start to think, 'Oh no, of course it's not going to be interesting, because it came from me,' there's no way I could selꦫl it to my staff. So I think I put in a lot of effort into [...] looking at myself objectively."
Though it's perhaps an unintended byproduct of her process, Yamada's characters in The Colors Within strive for confidence in a similar way to what she describes. At the film's New Yor🍸k Japan Society premiere this week, Yamada said she꧙ wanted the film to embody "the courage to say, 'This is what I like.'"
That kin꧑d of clarity can be difficult or embarrassing for anyone, but especially for The Color Within's awkward protagonists. Though the music they play – composed by DanDaDan soundtrack creator Kensuke Ushio – has so much sparkly spirit, Totsuko, Kimi, and Rui hesitate to tell anyone about their band practices out of fear of punishment or judgement. Even so, "Having a secret was really important" to the trio, Yamada said, "because to have the courage to reveal that secret was a really important step in the characters' lives."
In their own shy way, the teenagers eventually learn to form their identities like seaglass, bright little fingers of patience, resilience, and surrender. And, by reminding me of my adolescent self – who I st♈ill carry with me like a shiny, holy penny – The Colors Within imbued me with r🍎esiliencꦺe, too.
I never expected it would; coming-of-age movies are ubiquitous, and though I love simila🥀rly girly anime series like Nana, I so rarely feel understood by a genre overrun with super samurai and caricatureꦿs of women.
But my childho🗹od is as true as it was confusing. Remembering it, and the potential I felt lif♏e had then, through Totsuko was motivation I didn't know I needed to stay hopeful as a sleepy adult.
"Adolecense is a time when both your heart and your body are not fully grown, so there's so much possibility." Yamada said in New York. "And I think that's really 🍎beautiful."

]]>"He's great in all those action films that he's done, isn't he? He is wonderful. So I think he'll bring all that to it," Cockle tells GamesRadar+ of Hemsworth, who has appeared inꦍ the likes of The Expendables and The Hunger Games franchise🌠s.
"We'll see what he brings to the table. He's a good 𝓀actor, so I'm really excited to see what he brings."
Cockle, who is about to mark 20 years of voicing Geralt, is in the dark as much of the rest of us when it comes to Liam Hemsworth's debut in N♔etflix's The Witcher. Yet, his boundless experience means he knows exactly what a good Geralt, new or old, should bring to the table – and it's something previous incumbent Henry Cavill had in spades.
"I think what Henry and I brought to the role was that slight dou🐷r[ness] – I call him a reluctant hero," Cockle explains.
"It's that quality I think is🦩 most important to bring to the character of Geralt, because that's what he does. He's not a bad guy; he's not necessarily a good guy. He always wants to remain neutral, but he keeps finding himself in these situations where he has to make a d🐭ecision when faced with a moral dilemma."
Cockle continues, "Sometime🍸s these decisions turn out okay, sometimes they don't. So I think that reluctant heroism is the most important quality to bring to the character of Geralt. But that can take many different shapes. Henry's version of that was difꦅferent from mine, but very similar."

]]>A trailer for the first ever Aliceജ in Wonderland anime mo🐓vie is here, and it's a spellbinding, dreamy trip through another world.
In the clip, which you can watch above, we're taken through an oversized keyhole to Wonderland, where we see all the familiar elements of the classic tale – like the 'eat me' label, a clock, red roses, the Cheshire Cat,🔯 and the Queen of Hearts playꦰing card – but in a beautiful, paper art style.
The movie is titled 'Fushigi no Kuni de Alice to - Dive in Wonderland -' (Alice in Wonderland: Dive in Wonderland), and it follows Rise, a regular girl who enters Wonderland and meets Alice. Rise will be voiced by Nanoka Hara, while Alꦉice is voiced by Mica Pyu. TBS Holdings and Shochiku are producing, with Black Butler's Toshiya Shinohara directing. Yuko Kakihara scripted the movie, and P.A. Works is animating.
While Alice in Wonderland has been adapted as an anime show, titled Fushigi no Kuni no Alice and released between 1983 and 1984, this is the fiꦜrst anime movie adaptation. It will be released in theaters in Japan this August 29.
P.A Works also has two shows releasing this year, Food for the Soul and M༺ikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi, while movie Colorful Stage! Th🅰e Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing has just been released.

]]>The 30-second clip, which you can watch below, opens with beautiful watercolor painting-like landscapes of trees and a house in the middle of nature. We then get a glimpse of the two central characters as one says, "Ourꦺ reunion brought back the fireworks," to which the other replies, "I wonder if we could make something like this still exist."
The teaser ends with some beautiful underwater clips, abruptly ended by an alarm clock. Could it have all been a🅺 dreaﷺm?
Loosely inspired by the fast-changing Japanese after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, A New Dawn f🍷ollows three characters and꧙ their connection to the Taitou Fireworks factory.
The official synopsis reads: "A fireworks factory located in a lush forest is being forced to vacate due to﷽ town redevelopment. Keitaro Tateto has been barricaded there for four years, immersing himself in making fireworks in order to complete the phantom fireworks, Shuhari. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Kaoru lives in Tokyo." But as Kaoru visits the Tateto family, "the two meet again and hatch a surprising plan to uncover the secret of the lost fireworks."
The upcoming movie is set to mark S༒hinomiya's directorial debut. His previous works as an artist include Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and Gekijōban Cardfight!! Vanguard.

So, is this the Infinity Castle release date we've been (im)patiently waiting for? The feature is expected to bring together the first five episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, an arc which dived⛄ further into the past and recounts Gojo and Geto's time as sorcerers-in-training at Jujutsu High.
A new visual for the project has also been released, which s﷽ees one-time friends and sorcerers Gojo and Geto looking carefree and standing back to back – a far cry from what would eventually happen between the pair.

Kicking off this list is The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, a Groundhog Day-style time lꦛoop adventure that sees teenager Makoto bestowed with the ability to rese♊t time – seconds before being hit by a train. While her first attempts to 'time leap' are cheap and unnecessary, Makoto's discovery that her powers are finite soon turn the movie into a faintly tragic tale that mirrors Steins;Gate's and its heroes' inability to avert disaster.
Bundled with a strong love story and endearing protagonist, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, ironically, feels like a movie that is caught in a temporal limbo. The 2006 release missed out on the late '90s and early '00s wave of renewed interest in anime, while it would have undoubtedly been a wider success if it were released today. Maybe it's time to seek it out for yourself and experience this 🌸anime-hidden gem.

Prequels, by their very nature, can be predictable and meandering affairs. Thankfully, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is more in line with Better Call Saul in terms of how it approac💝hes things, taking prominent characters – in this case, sorcerers Goto and Geto – and enriching their stories to deliver a beautifully-told chapter through the lens of shy sorcerer-in🃏-training, Yuta.
Being based on a popular ongoing anime, it's of little surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 cut through in the (relative) mainstream when it was released in cinemas, grossing almost $200m at the box office. Its style and flair are obv🔯ious highlights, though the accessibility of the horror-tinged prequel to newcomers should not go overlooked. Jujutsu Kaisen has plenty more to come, but it might never be better than this standalone prequel.

Remixing the finale of an anime and manga series that hasn't been seen since the mid-'90s doesn't exactly seem like, well, a slam dunk. But, against all the odds, The First Slam Dunk is a Last Dance-style success story. The feature film, which grossed almost $280 million worldwide, takes the series' final match – 🌠between Shohoku and Sannoh high schools – and gives it the big-budget treatment, making every rebound, fou🍒l, and shot feel extra impactful with its fluid animation.
But The First Slam Dunk's greatest triumph is in how it treats point guard Miyagi. Readers and viewers of the original story will still have some affinity with the player. Still, the 2022 movie goes further, unpicking 🤡his motivations for the sport from his first steps onto the court through to the final buzze🌺r.

Unfortuna🐭tely for Hiroshima, its lasting image is one of destruction. In This Corner of the Wor💫ld, though, opts for the path less traveled by opening up the more personal side of its culture and citizens in the lead-up to August 6, 1945. Japan has long made incredibly poignant art out of the gaping trauma of World War Two's nuclear attacks, but few are as heart-wrenching or as unflinching in their portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground impact on its people.
As newly-married Suzu settles into her new life ju🍒st outside the town of Hiroshima, she soon encounters the disrupting nature of wartime measures. Of course, viewers will be acutely aware of the irony of the town's initial grumbles, but few will be ready for the wave of violence and destruction to come. In This Corner of the World culminates in a se🐈ries of sadly predictable events that, though immensely sad, blossoms into something surprisingly touching against all the odds – and stands as a lasting testament to the power of anime and the secret stories it can tell.

The sequel movie to Netflix's Violet Evergarden rounds out the𝕴 story of Violet, an ex-soldier who later finds a career as an Auto Memory Doll. In the job (and in the mainline series), she spends her days finding ways to help others find connection through letter-writing. The movie, though, flips the script and allows her to finally discover the meaning of the words 'I l෴ove you'.
Kicking off with a clever framing device that pays tribute to the episodes that preceded it, Violet Evergarden: The Movie soon charts its own path as Violet goes off to find her one-time superior Gilbert, a man she previously had thought to have been dead and the subject of some serious complicated feelings. For some, Violet Eve🌳rgarden can be overly sentimental and saccharine, but the movie reins in a little to pay off its overarching story in satisfying fashion – with one of anime's great reunions thrown in for good measure.

The past decade of anime has been largely dominated by sporadic Studio Ghibli releases and the works of Makoto Shinkai. Belle, then, comes crashing in relativel🗹y out of nowhere and takes 𓆉its lead Suzu on a whirlwind journey from an angry, lonely teenager to a virtual pop idol, the likes of which would make even hardcore Swifties sit up and take notice.
Laced with big, poppy energy and maximalist visuals, Belle undercuts the loud, vibrant virtual world of 'U' with a darker twist as an ultra-powerful user named Beast (yes, this is a twisted Beauty and the Beast pastiಌche) crashes the fantasy. From there, director Mamoru Hosoda skilfully uses Belle's plight to hold up a mirror to a contemporary world held in the grip of social media, the new age of celebrity, and – in something that feels even more prescient today – the anonymous anger of faceless personas.

Where the original Patlabor is more of a by-the-numbers mech action flick, its 1993 sequel unspools into a tense political thriller that makes g⛦ood on the potential of its universe (here, Tokyo's police force use 'Patlabors', or Patrol Labors, to keep the peace).
Patlabor 2, then, coolly meshes the rip-roaring action of the first movie with a more introspective, historical bent as a terrorist attack cripples Tokyo. Its critiques on Japanese's softening military might be lost on a portion of its audience, but it acts as the perfect gateway into a sci-fi world that isn't afraid to go the blockbuster route to communicate big ideas, in much the same way some of the 21st Century's great directors – Nolan, Villenueve, to name but a few – would grasp a few years l🎃at🍨er.

There were sports crowd-like whistles of derision when it was announced that Haikyu would be ending its volleyball saga with two movies instead of finishing upꦚ with the anime series. Those fears were misplaced. The Dumpster Battle – the latest installment in the eternal rivalry between schools Karasuno and Nekoma – is able to take center stage on the most worthy of courts: the big screen.
With standout animation from Production I.G. that exceeds even the studio's lofty standards, The Dumpster Battle serves up a pulsating match-up between the two teams as middle blocker Hinata aims to surpass his hero, the 'Little Giant'. Sports anime has, arguably, never re💎ached the heights of the first Haikyu movie – and we're locked in for whenever Hinata's journey comes to an end in the near future.

The most recent entry on this list, Look Back is a pitch-perfect adaptation of a one-shot manga from Chainsaw Man's Tatsuki Fujimoto. But where Chainsaw Man is all gore, cinematic aspirations, and kinetic action, Look Back is a slower, more methodical commentary on art and loss. What begins as a childhood obsession for Fujino as she scribbles panels for her school newspaper's manga soon unravels into fiercely one-sided rivalry with shut-in classmate Kyomoto. From there, ܫa surprise kinship blooms between the pair.
Brought together by their love of drawing, the beautifully-depicted friendship is a triumph of connection, one that suddenly comes crashing down after tragic circumstances inspired by real-world events. At once a wistful, nostalgic piece and a forward-thinking, crushing meditation on the impact of art, Look Back is an instant classic – and audiences may look even more 🌞favorably on it in the years to come.

You may have at least heard of Cowboy Bebop, the sci-fi series that blends together jazz, an eclectic ensemble cast, and a gal🔯axy's worth of space bandits to craft what is – for many – the best anime series ever made. You may be less familiar wit♋h its later feature-length adventure, however.
Slightly awkwardly wedged into the events of the main series so as to not break canon, Knockin' on Heaven's Door sees the motley crew of Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed, and Ein on the hunt for a biological terrorist. In truth, it doesn't deviate too much from Bebop's typical winning formula, but its greatest strengths – the action, the effortlessly ✅cool vibes – are writ large here. If you can spare a few Woolongs, it's absolutely worth dipping into Cowboy Bebop The Movie for a big-screen bounty like no other.
Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirō Watanabe says his forthcoming anime Lazarus 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:is his masterpiece.

While its connections to the 1927 Fritz Lang trailblazer are loose (and, if you believe the author of the 1949 manga on which the 2001 movie is based, entirely coincidental) Metropolis similarly helped pave the way for anime with a dazzling film that stood out as one of the 21st Century's first essential anime movies. Its biggest success? Laying doꦍwn a stylistic blueprint for an industry that would soon look to the far-flung future for commentary on its present moment.
In many ways, Metropolis works off the same hymn sheet as Akira: a downtrodden future megacity, people ruled with an iron fist, and coursing with a rebellious streak. What makes the Rꩵintaro-directed effort stand out, however, is its personal touch. Faced with a dictator father who has grand schemes to overthrow the planet using a weapon designed to look like his deceased daughter, his adopted son Rock battles to reclaim what's his in a pulsating blockbuster. It all culminates in one of anime's most striking scenes, a Ray Charles-backed sequence 🐠as the city crumbles – an electric ending to a modern-day masterpiece.
Year: 2003
Director: Satoshi Kon
The first Satoshi Kon feature to appear on this list, Tokyo Godfathers is perhaps the most restrained of the director's body of work, one that was cruelly cut short by his death in 2010 at age 42. Despite that, the madcap premise (three homeless people – a transgender woman, an alcoholic, and a teenager who has run 🌄away from home – adopt an abandoned baby) and its Christmassy spirit ensures it will live long in the memory.
While the story takes its cues from 1948's 3 Godfathers, the festive energy and Kon's ever-keen eye for human expression makes it wholly un🍃ique as the trio's Chr❀istmas Eve adventure sees them crossing paths with hitmen and attending wedding receptions in a last-gasp dash to find the baby's parents. It's not quite It's A Wonderful Life, but its motley crew of leads will give you the same warm, fuzzy feeling of everything being right with the world by its end.
Still in a festive mood? Here are our picks for the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best Christmas movies.

In some circles, Ponyo comes bundled with an unfair reputation as a Studio Ghibli movie aimed at a much younger audience. While the storybook visuals and focus on the wacky adventures of a goldfish named Ponyo and young boy Sosuke m𝓀ight give that impression, this Little Mermaid-style story of a girl wanting to walk on land as a human deserves to be held aloft alongside many of the studio's other revered works.
Boasting a wonderfully impish energy and director Hayao Miyazaki's eye for making the mundane into something magical (in this case, a boy-meets-girl story on a coastal town), Ponyo is a joyous aquatic exploration of friendship and first loves, one that might leave a wat🍬ery tear in your eye by its end.

Fun fact: Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is not only 2020's highest-grossing movie (besting Tenet), but is the highest-grossing anime movie of all time, raking in a cool $500 million at the box office. It certainly deserves to hold that record. Following directly on from the first season of the smash shonen anime, wannabe demon slayer Tanjiro, his sister Nezuko, and h𝕴is friends – the hot-headed Inosuke and erratic Zenitsu – board a train that is infested by a member of the Upper Ranks, a collection of powerful demons.
Aided by Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, Tanjiro slithers his way through to the front of the train. Wha♏t begins as a low-key introspection of its characters soon explodes into a cacophony of sound and fury, as animation studio Ufotable showcases its world-class talents with a series of unmissable fight scenes, tinged with just the right amount of gut-wrenching emotion to make this big-budget affair a bonafide smash – and one that anime series have been trying to mimic in theaters ever since.

Director: Hiromasa Yonebayashi
A rare Ghibli directorial effort from Hiromasa Yonebayasi, When Marnie Was There sees sickly 12-year-old Anna sent to live in a quaint seaside coꦇmmunity after an asthma attack. While there, she discovers a mysterious mansion across the marshes and one of its residents – the titular Marnie. What follows is a journey sprinkled with self-discovery and the power of memories as the pair bond. It all culminates in an emotionally charged and cathartic ending, one that feels like the happy antithesis of something like Grave of the Fireflies.
When Marnie Was There can make a compelling case for b💦eing the most underrated and underappreciated Studio Ghibli movie of all time. Simply put, few can ensnare its aud𝔍ience with such a potent blend of melancholy, drama, and nostalgia; fewer still can execute it with a painterly panache that allows it to stand alongside anime's greats, Ghibli or otherwise.
Year: 2012

Alongside Grave of the Fireflies – which we'll meet shortly in this list – Wolf Children stands out ღas shorthand for anime's power to emotionally devastate its audience.
🍸While the premise – a woman struggling with raising her half-wolf children as a newly widowed mother – might raise eyebrows, Wolf Children soon rips out your heart as the mother, Hana, battles her children's primal instincts in this coming-of-age story with a twist. Whether you're a parent or not, few🔯 anime movies will resonate quite as strongly and leave as hard a lump in your throat as this 2012 feature.

Ghost in the Shell's cultural cache has diminished somewhat in recent years, but its quality still shines through today. The 1995 movie follows Motoko, a synthesized and augmented human working for Public Security who is suddenly hot on the trail of the mysterious Puppet Master. What comes next is one of the quintessential cyberpunk stories, a thriller that digs deep into themes of identity, self-worth, and the loom🦩ing specter of technology.
Boasting trippy visuals and a hauntin🍃g philosophical message, there's a reason why Ghost in the Shell has proved so influential – and spawned several sequels, spin-offs, and an ill-fated live-action movie starring Scarlett Johansson. Still, t🦩he original is easily the best, an early pioneer that stands out as essential viewing and an anime classic.
Not every sci-fi classic spawned a franchise. Here are the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:32 sci-fi movies that deserved a sequel.

"Better to be a pig than a fascist." If you only discovered Studio Ghibli through the lens of twee and whimsical adventures, Porco Rosso is going to be a sudden shock to the system. The 1992 adventure combines the fantastical elements of the by-this-point legendary animation studio with director Hayao Miyazaki's masterful eye for aviation. Here, ex-war pilot Porco Rosso (voiced by Michael Keaton in a remastered dub) tackles the onrushཧing wave of fascism sweeping Italy in the late 1920s, as well as Porco's own survivor's guilt – most memorably depicted in an☂ 'airplane graveyard' sequence that stands out as one of Ghibli's finest, most striking sequences.
Despite the heavy subject matter, Porco Rosso is wickedly funny and grounds itself in the sort of charm, personality, and 🅺sass of old-school adventure movies, which allows it to soar further than most of Ghibli's efforts. It's a rip-roaring, bombastic flight for the ages and one that, most importantly, wears its political heart on its sleeve.
Year: 2022
Director: Makoto Shinkai
Despite being a shade less accomplished than his other major works, Weathering With You and Your Name, director Makoto Shinkai solidifies himself as a true anime great with Suzume, a coming-of-age tale that sees the titular teenager drawn into a grand road trip odyssey across Japan. After mysterious doors pop 🍬up across the country to cause ecol🃏ogical disasters, Suzume is soon whisked away on an adventure to save the day with experienced (door) 'closer' Souta – who is hamstrung by the most peculiar of circumstances after being turned into a three-legged chair. Hey, we've all been there.
Showcasing Shinkai's ability to mix personal stakes with world-ending scenarios, Suzume breezily hurtles towards its final act, a surprisingly emotional bump in the road as her own family tragedy intertwines with the very real disaster – known as 3.11 – that♐ hit Japan in 2011. It's to Shinkai's credit that Suzume might not eve🐟n crack his top two; even so, Suzume is a work that shouldn't be ignored.

Following up on a work as esteemed as Your Name is an unenviable task, but director Makoto Shinkai delivered on the heavy weight of expectation. Weathering With You may follow similar beats 𓃲in its supernatural love story, but it soon twists into a city-spanning tale that will leave you in floods of tears and send your heart soaring. Weathering With You follows Hodaka, a teenage runaway who flees to Tokyo.
While there, he crosses paths with 'sunshine girl' Hina, who can seemingly influence the weather. In need of money, the pair team up to offer out Hina's services – a decision that comes at a terrible cost. Yes, it may not live up to the impossible heights of Your Name, but Weathering With You is an exceptional movie in its own right, one that improves on 🦄the director's previous classic in terms of presenting a more mature central relationship, if not quite having as satisfying a payoff.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, famously, crashed against the very confines of the television medium to craft a controversial finale that brought teen Shinji's story to a close wit♑h an experimental blend of ennui, back-slapping, and mech action. Whatever their good intentions may have been, it was clear that time, budget, and audiences' patience were running thin. The End of Evangelion, then, is a welcome do-over. As Shinji fights to stop the apocalyptic Third Imಌpact from taking place, he is thrust into the end of all things – here visualized through a nightmarish menagerie of towering robots and world-dwarfing protagonists.
While it doesn't dig as deep into Shinji's psyche as the TV anime, it more than makes up for it with a bleak, oppressive final battle that ensures the series' flawed individuals don't escape unscathed. It's all topped of🧜f with a final sequence between Shinji and Asuka that speaks more to Neon Genesis Evangelion's cruel streak than the sickly sweet 'congratulati𒊎ons' fanfare of the original.
Don't miss out on Evangelion's sprawling story with our look at how to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion in order.

If you want a case study on what anime can achieve compared to its live-action cousins, look no further than Millennium Actress. The late director Satoshi Kon takes up multiple spots on this list, but few are as imaginative and push the boundaries of the medium quite like this 2001 movie. Focusing on an actress long since retired, Millennium Actress takes a straightforward premise – a retrospective interview – and injects it with passion ꧅and purpose, as the actress Chiyoko drags both the documentar🧔y crew and the audience through her life story, from humble beginnings, to post-World War Two stardom, and through to its tragic end.
Millennium Actress is so much more than a personal tale, however. It's a love letter to cinema and Japanese history, a kinetic, singular vision 🌊masterfully guided by a director in Kon whose loss is still keenly felt, some 15 years after his passing.

Think Studio Ghibli, then chances are you're probably thinking of My Neighbor Totoro. After all, there's a reason why the cat-like Totoro has endured as a cinematic icon for decades and its unforgettable cat bus scene has formed part of anim♛e canon ever since its wheels started turning back in 1988. But what that iconography doesn't reveal is what's hiding under the hood – and the hidden corners of this mag𝕴ical animated world.
As Satsuki and younger sibling Mei struggle with their mother being cooped up in hospital, they each stray a little too far from their new home and soon encounter a hidden world filled with spirits. What follows is an impossibly charming, childlike creation that takes director Hayao Miyazaki's bottomless well of imagination and fuses it with a storybook world filled with mischievous♈ soot sprites, glistening forests, and – at the center of it all – Totoro, a grinning cat. A towering anime that rightfully stands the test of time, it's a monument to not only Miyazaki and Ghibli's works, but its enduring charm means it continues to enrapture new generations of audiences, both young and old decades on.

Widely regard𒊎ed as the most influential anime movie of all time, Akira has inspired the likes of Jordan Peele and Hideo Kojima, while the iconic 'Akira slide' has been a pop culture mainstay ever since its release. But Akira is so much more than its imitators. A cyberpunk epic, the 1988 anime movie centres on Kaneda and his friend Tetsuo, who gains dangerous ps🔜ychic abilities after an accident.
With the cold, hard edges of the wiry Neo-Tokyo as their backdrop, the pair are soon drawn into a conspiracy involving the military, secret experiments, and the fate of the dystopian city itself. At face value, it's a compelling, fast-moving thriller but, look beyond that, and you'll see Akira for what it truly is: a legendary anime that stretches its tendrils across decades, shaping movies, TV shows, and video games long past its 'future' 2019 setting. Many have tried to copy Akira🐷's fantastic fusion of style and metal; none have bettered it.

In many ways, Grave of the Fireflies is the antithesis of what Studio Ghibli is known for. Out goes the fantastical elements and breathtaking imagery in favor of a grounded, bleak story centered around orphans Seita and Setsuko and their battle to survive during the dying embers of World War Two. Placed in a bizarre double bill with My Neighbor Totoro upon its release – yes, really – Grave of the Fireflies' reputation as the ultimate day-ruining ani♛me movie is well-earned.
Yet, it𝓡's so much more than its devastating set-up and crushing ending: Grave of the Fireflies, through its two leads, digs into the psyche of a nation still healing from the battle in the Pacific and is staunchly, poetically anti-war as a result. It's a haunting (and hauntingly beautiful) tale that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled. No, it's not what you might expect from Studio Ghibli – but it's guaranteed to m🔴ake you cry.

There are only a handful of movies thaꦛt I love so much, yet never want to see again. One – Grave of the Fireflies – you've just met on this list. The other is A Silent Voice, a supremely c🍸onfident and emotionally affecting debut from director Naoko Yamada. A shattering exploration of childhood bullying and its impact later in life, A Silent Voice revolves around Shōko, a deaf girl who is relentlessly harassed by her schoolmates – later to the point of suicidal ideation.
Yet, A Silent Voice isn't all about the bleak horrors of growing up. In a smart twist, the story moves hurriedly along to years later as one bully – since shunned by his peers – 💫attempts to reconnect with Shōko. That's the simple set up for a genuinely life-affirming story (not something I say lightly) that preaches love, kindness, and connection over hate, anger, and rejection. You may never want to watch A Silent Voice again after your first watch, but you'll be glad you did.

Satoshi Kon's psychological masterpiece might be th🦩e best anime movie you've never seen. Perfect Blue is a disturbingly prescient film – and a perfect companion to Belle, another entry on this list – that focuses on Mima, a popstar-turned-actress who is relentlessly pursued by an obsessive fan and has her personal details listed on a website called 'Mima's Room'. A smothering, suffocating fever dream of a feature, Mima's journey soon sees her encounter "the real Mima", a ghoulish reflection of her past life.
Perfect Blue then unravels into a horror movie laced with punchy commentary on jealousy, self-identity, and overwhelming celebrity fandom. Arguably, it's even more relevant today than it was back in 1997. Never allowing Mima or its viewer time to settle, Perfect Blue also comes bundled with one of the most disturbing final reveals, one that's brilliant Lynchian in its final rug pull and rivals๊ the lik𝔉es of Inception for just how much it'll worm itself into your brain days, months, and even years after you've first watched it.

By every definition, Spirited Away is a juggernaut. Grossing almost $400m at the box office, winning t🀅he Oscar for Best Animated Feature (the first non-English film to do so), and widely seen as one of anime's most enduring achievements, this fantasy adventure is teeming with enough imagination for 10 movies – yet somehow finds a way to cram it all into a tight two-hour epic. Not that you would have guessed from Spirited Away's restrained opening, which sees Chihiro – nervously on the way to her new home with her parents – stepping into a new world filled with monstrous pigs, mischievous gods and, at its centre, a bathhouse housing the great and not-so-great denizens of the spirit world.
Spirited Away then explodes into a carousel of color an💟d chaos as Chihiro struggles to find her way home and to free her parents. Along the way, she (and viewers) are met with the iconic No-Face, a devious spirit who accompanies Chihiro partway through her journey. So, yes, Spirited Away is a giant of cinema – but that far-reaching leg🎃acy betrays the magical genius coursing through the veins of each frame and sequence in this anime all-timer.

Despite being pipped to top spot, Princess Mononoke is an undoubted all-time great. The Muromachi-era fantasy revolves around an onrushing evil, one that literally clings to protagonist Ashitaka's arm and never lets go after he defeats a demon in the opening act. From there, he heads west to Iron Town, a settlement of working women and lepers caught in a crossroads between its ruler's strong will and the oozing corruption of the land. That sets the stage for an epic that feels like peak Ghibli. Why? It refines some of the studio's previous environmentalist messag🌊es in works such as Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and delivers fearsome set piece after fearsome set piece, something that was only glimpsed in Porco Rosso.
If My Neighbor Totoro put Ghibli on the map, Princꦯess Mononoke cemented it as a legendary collection of artists, storytellers, and creative visionaries. Princess Mononoke's greatest triumph, though, may be in how it influenced a new generation of stories. Everything from Avatar to The Legend of Zelda has been touched by Ashitaka's journey from headstrong hero to aiding San and The Great Forest Sꦺpirit. It's also everything you could want from an anime movie – imaginative visuals, exceptional world-building, strong morals – all rolled into one action-filled package.

Your Name is our pick for the best anime movie of all time and, frankly, it's also one of the best movies of all time. Period. The 2016 classic revolves around, initially, the simplest of sci-fi premises: a city boy (Taki) and a 🦂rural girl (Mitsuha) switch bodies. Inevitably, hijinks ensue. B𒁃ut, around 20 minutes in, Your Name takes a turn from a light-hearted Freaky Friday-style adventure into something more powerful – transforming into a tale that chisels away at the human condition and a pair of slightly damaged people caught at the crossroads of fate, circumstance, and tragedy.
Director Makoto Shinkai, though, is the one who takes this🌠 into all-timer territory. Case in point, his innate ability to skilfully bamboozle the viewer. Your Name's body-switching premise is filled with misdirects, but the entirety of the movie is littered with the sort of narrative rug-pulls and sleight of hands that are the result of a master at work. M. Night Shyamalan, eat your heart out. The failed attempts to drag Your Name into live action – arguably the easiest Hollywood home run of all time if done correctly – would also indicate that this masterpiece is perfectly suite𓆏d to its form.
The potent alchemy of Your Name, from its dazzling visuals as comets streak through the sky to the gentle soundtrack by Radwimps that punctuates the movie's most heartbreaking moments, is somethin𒀰g that can never truly be replicated. If you only watch one anime movie 🐼on this list, make it Your Name. It's something truly special.

]]>It's a two-hour-plus feature given a wide theatrical release across the globe, conceived to fit within the continuity of Peter Jackson's live-action Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films (he's an executive producer on this), and directed by the proli༒fic anime veteran Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), wit🎉h various major Japanese animation houses credited as contributors to the project. But despite all its impressive credentials, this hopeful blockbuster sadly proves to be one of the more uninspired examples of an English-language property being given an anime makeover.
Although The War of the Rohirrim contains a new musical score from Stephen Gallagher, 𒁏the familiar notes of Howard Shore's piece 'One Ring to Rule Them All' are among the first things we hear in the opening stage-setting of this new film, as the same title card font used for Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy returns to firmly place this movie in that specific universe – if you're more keen on The Rings of Power series, you may still find things to enjoy in this very different prequel to J. R. R. Tolkien's mainline novels. Also returning from the Jacksonverse is Mirando Otto as Éowyn, narrating proceedings as though the film's story is something she's telling to her children.
Set nearly 200 years before the events of Jackson's first Middle-earth trilogy, The War of the Rohirrim presents us with Helm Hammerhand (voiced by Brian Cox), a king of Rohan whose name became legend. But the first person we're introduced to is Héra (Gaia Wise), the adult daughter of Helm, whose name, Éowyn tells us, was not passed down in historical records in the same way. A free spirit often found wandering the wilderness, Héra is close with Olwyn (Lorraine Ashbourne), one of the last of the shieldmaidens of lore, and has no interest in plans for marriage that are not born out of love. If you have thought of Princ🐲ess Merida from Pixar's Brave while reading this, Héra is very much in that character template, and possibly not coincidentally also host to long red hair.
Release date: 13 December, 2024
Available on: In theaters
Director: Kenji Kamiyama
Runtime: 2h 14m
A suitor for Héra is what sparks the film's main conflict, as Dunlending lord Freca (Shaun Dooley) attempts a political maneuver with Helm by proposing that Héra marry his son, Wulf (Luca Pasqualino), a former childhood friend of Héra with whom she would secretly train in sword fighting as a young girl. Things go awry during the tense meeting between the fathers, and following a tragic misjudgement, Wulf has vengeance and the seizing of power set firmly in his sights.
As the ruthless young lord gains dangerous allies and sets up base at Isengard,𝕴 Helm, h𝄹is sons Hama (Yazdan Qafouri) and Haleth (Benjamin Wainwright), and his nephew Fréaláf (Laurence Ubong Williams) face additional challenges within their inner circle. Héra, meanwhile, must summon the will to lead as a shieldmaiden, as their deadly enemy forces the people of Rohan to take shelter in the stronghold of the Hornburg, a mighty fortress destined to be renamed and revisited for another siege in The Two Towers.
The War of the Rohirrim is an interesting case where a film's potential strengths directly feed into its failings. On the one hand, it's refreshing to get an ostensibly smaller-scale tale set in this universe, where the main antagonist is just a human rather than a magic-user or mythical creature. On the other hand, that this entry in a fantasy series is relatively light on fantastical elements – bar a few single-scene appearances of orcs and monsters, and one plot thread with a wraith – doesn't help to disguise the lack of flavor to this lethargically-paced story. The assembled voice cast 🐭gives it their all, but none of these characters pop in a memorable way like even some of the supporting Rohirrim players from Jackson's films – shout out to Gamling in The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
A case where a film's potential strengths directly f☂eed into𓂃 its failings.
When it comes to the animation itself, there's a sense that design restrictions have been enforced, based on this film serving as a prequel to a set of hugely popular, undeniably iconic blockbusters. There is a recognizable anime flourish in the faces (though not too extreme), but perhaps so as not to alienate fans of Jackson's live-action films who aren't well-versed in anime, character models are otherwise designed to be as boilerplate as possible, with the humans often moving with a distractingly mechanical stiffness.
The few creatures on display fare a little better, with one memorable se༒t piece involving an elephant-like mûmak in the woods being a rare moment where the film comes alive. But the spectacleꦫ potential for Tolkien filtered through an anime lens feels wasted, especially when compared to how wild and inventive the contributors to Star Wars: Visions get to make things.
Elsewhere, empty nods to later events – including Mordor orcs looking for rings – grate, while the dramatic way that the title 'Helm's Deep' is delivered hammers that this tale really is little more than an origin story for the name of a location in a much better movie. And one particular voice cameo from a deceased actor jars. Thankfully, their limited dialogue was reportedly pulled from archival material rather than digital resurrection through the dark magic of generative AI (if you don't mind spoilers, you can𒊎 learn more here). But going to that well for ultimately superfluous ends only adds to this film's imbalance between honoring the past and forging a distinctive identity of its own🐬⛄.

]]>It's been a painful wait to hear more about the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle arc since a movie trilogy 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:was first announced back in June. Thankfully, we now have a release window and a brand new trailer for the f🙈inal chapter in Tanjiro's story.
As confirmed during Demon Slayer's CCXP panel, the first of three movies will premiere exclusively in cinemas worldwide in 202💖5. A further release date hasn't yet been confirmed but, for now, we have an intriguing new trailer to tide us over (which you can see above).
In it, the anime's big bad Muzan Kibutsuji talks ominously about the meaning of eternity while viewers are offered up a brief recap-of-sorts. There, it recounts Tanjiro's explosive journey from fledgling demon slayer to be༺ing on the cusp of joining the Hashira in a thrilling battle against Muzan and his Upper Rank demons. The Hashira Training season left off with the elite demon slayers being drawn into the titular 🍌Infinity Castle – where a final showdown awaits.
Following on from the Hashira Training arc, the trilogy of Infinity Castle movies will likely adapt m♌ost, if not all, the Final Battle section of Koyoharu Gotouge's acclaimed manga to bring the main Demon Slayer saga to a close.
