<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> //344567.top 2025-06-16T16:09:30Z en <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Warner Bros. and DC Studios have announced a Mister Miracle animated series. But you might be forgiven for letting this one pass with a shꦅrug. After all, on the pantheon of DC heroes, Mister Miracle probably sits in the comfy C-tier of cꦗharacters alongside other kooky creations such as The Question and Mxyzptlk.

Dig a little deeper,൲ however, and you suddenly realize you should be paying closer attent༒ion to this one. Based on a darkly funny, moving 12-issue series from writer Tom King, Mister Miracle is a twisted, towering modern masterpiece I'd put above even the likes of Watchmen for the impression it left on me as a reader, the way it pushes the boundaries – sometimes quite literally – of the comic medium, and the vivid mirror it holds up to the human (and Apokoliptan) condition.

In it, Mister Miracle (moonlighting on Earth as escapologist Scott Free) sees his violent past on Apokolips crash into his life of domestic bliss with wife Big Barda. Where some superhero adventures trade in big battles, Mister Miracle is altogether quieter, touching on mental health, PTSD, and the unseen scars left by trauma. If that doesn't sell you, the show's logline teases something altogether more impossible and intriguing: “No prison can hold him. No trap can contain him. He is Scott Free, the worldwide celebrity sensation known as Mister Miracle, and he is🍌 the greatest escape artist who ever lived. But can he pull off the ultimate trick – and escape death itself?”

At its heart, too, is a myst🐲ery that rivals Inception in terms of how you'll be combing through every frame and eager to devour any fan theories about just what goes down in its final pages and panels.

To say too much else would spoil a story that deserves to be read through fresh eyes. I envy you for getting to do just that. Just know that Mister Miracle is a stone-cold classic – and one that has me feeling extremel꧅y confident that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran know exactly what they're doing in their brave new world as they step up against the mighty MCU.

Miracle worker

Why? You only need to look at who is involved. The comic's writer, Tom King, is heading the series up as showrunner. DC's approach under Gunn has been creator-first compared to Marvel (King is also heavily involved in the Lanterns HBO series). By contrast, Marvel Studios is content with throwing its comic creators – their work so frequently a foundation for the MCU – a 'Special Thanks' credit. But by getting comic creators in༒ on the ground floor, DC can tap into why we all fell in love with t🌄he medium in the first place, rather than being a pale imitation of the cacophony of color and chaos inked across decades.

Speaking of color, Mister Miracle is proof enough that DC Studios under James Gunn is championing animation, and this is very well suited to it. There are no square pegs in round holes here: if it works best in animation, it's going to be animated. Mister Miracle will also be a truly adult animation, one where adult isn't just a byw🅰ord for blood, sex, and swearing. That will hopefully usher in a new age of storytellers gravitating towards the format for the opportunity to tell their stories as if they were a comic book come to life.

Mister Miracle's greatest trick, though, is convincing the world the devil does exist in the newfangled DCU. Throughout its 12 issues, Scott Free bumps into his troubled past, including diving deep into his history to uncover a callous trade that saw Darkseid's son Orion swap places with Scott on New Genesis to avoid all-out war. Then, at the mercy of Darkseid and his legion of tortuꦫrers and tyrants, Scott suffers a traumatic childhood that hangs around him in his later life tighter than his stage act's straitjackets and chains.

Away from the suffocating story it's trying to tell, it is a narrative sleight of hand that allows Darkseid to be built up as a nasty, all-powerful villaiღn without necessarily having to shoehorn him in at the end of a future movie's post-credits scene. Gunn has already preached the benefits of cross-pollination across live-action, animation, and video games in one shared universe. This is the perfect way to put that philosophy to the test – by introducing the biggest of Big Bads in the fringes of a show that might not immediately catch the eye.

The personal touch with Mister Miracle, too, resonates 🦩far more effectively than some nebulous force that wants to conquer Earth with the equally abstract Anti-Life Equation. It's a mistake the DCEU made, but one, seemingly, the DCU doesn't care to repeat.

Mister Miracle, then, is poised to escape into the mꩵainstream, with Tom King's seminal work a trap door for the character after a lifetime spent in relative obscurity. Now, it might pull off one more magic trick – by becoming one of DCU's leading lights. Wouldn't that be a miracle?

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Stranger Things: Tales From '85 showrunner Eric Robles has revealed hi𝔉s key inspirations for the new Netflix animated spin-off and teased꧃ the show's high stakes.

"It all went back t𓂃o The Real Ghostbusters," Robles said during an appearance at Annecy International Animation Film Festival (via ). "It was silly, but had a handful of dark, creepy episodes, and we just kept talking about that. That became the north star for us."

He described Tales From '85 as being about "friendships, horror-filled story, and mystery," and said further influences included Transformers, ET, and Goosebumps. "There’s danger, and not everyone might survive," Robles add🦩ed. "The danger is real, and that had an impact on the design."

According to Deadline, the audience at Annecy got a sneak peek at some character designs from the upcoming show, including some things that go buꦍmp in t꧑he night: "some terrifying Upside Down pumpkin zombies and a snow shark."

Per Netflix's official logline,🌜 Tales From '85 takes place in Hawkins in "the stark winter of 1985, where the original characters must fight n🧸ew monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town." That means it takes place between Stranger Things season 2, which begins in the fall of 1984, and season 3, when the action kicks off in the summer of 1985.

Before we go back in time, however, there's 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Stranger Things season 5, which is coming our way later this year and brings the original show to an end. The final season 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:will air in three parts, with new episodes dropping on November 26, Decಞember 25, and Decemb💫er 31.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> In an era where Splinter Cell has gone AWOL on consoles, the upcoming Dea🅠thwatch animated series on Netflix is as close as we'll get to reliving Sam Fisher's glory years.

While there's been pretty much radio silence on the series since its initial announcement back in 2020, it has suddenly emerged from the shadows – like a certain Third Echelon agent – with a scattershot of news about everything from its unlikely inspiration🧸s and the recasting of Sam Fisher.

Trailed by a "trio" of behind-closed-doors clips from Annecy (via ), Splinter Cell Deathwatch creators outlined the premise for the TV show, which is set during the present-day, and the major touchston🌠es for the project.

Director Guillaume Douꦑsse namechecked everything from the "melancholy" of the live-action Ghost in the Shell to the more slow-burn narratives of Ozark and Tokyo Vice.

Given Fisher getting close to hip re𓄧placement territory (not least due to all the tendon-destroying split jumps he's pulled over the years), it's perhaps of little surprise that Tom Cruise's name came up in conversation.

The Mission: Impossible star, now in his 60s, appears to be a guiding star-of-sorts for Deathwatch's portrayal of Sam Fisher (here voiced by Liev Schreiber instea♐d of series veteran Michael Ironside, who has stepped 🦩back from the iconic role).

"It was intꦡeresting to have this ageing character, not totally like the Tom Cruise version but more🎶 realistic, and more weathered by life," producer Hugo Revon said on-stage.

On the new voice behind Sam Fisher's gravelly ton🐻es, Revon said Liev Schreiber (whose half-brother Pablo Schreiber also has video game adaptatio✤n experience as Halo's Master Chief in the now-canceled Paramount series) is "important for the project" and that "his voice comes to life."

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is set for release on Netflix later this year. A Splinter Cell remake is purportedly in the works, though 澳洲幸运5开奖号൲码历史查询:a recent tease during Summer Game Fest seemingly came to nothing.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hulu's King of the Hill reboot is just around the corner, with a newly revealed release date and, excitingly, the early pr༒emiere of the new incarnation of the show's iconic credits sequence, including the beloved the♓me song by The Refreshments.

The show's cre꧒ators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels and new showrunner Saladin K. Patterson have also opened up in an interview with , explaining some new details of where we'll find King of the Hill's beloved characters when the new se🐻ason premieres on August 4.

First, here's the new credits sequence:

As you can see, Hank and Peggy seem to have moved out of their old Arlen neighborhood for some time. It turns out Hank's been selling propane and propane accessories in Saudi Arabia for some time, and now he's finally moving back into his old place. And though he's been in Saudi Arabia, he's been living in a corporate community meant t꧑o offer its America🔯n employees an idealized version of their home country.

"We liked the idea that he had been gone for a while, and the most Mayberry kin🥀d of freezer that you could put the family in was an Aramco base, which is like an idealized kind of white-picket-fence Ameri♕ca," Greg Daniels. "They had gone to Saudi Arabia and they were just coming back and had missed out on a lot of recent, uh, cultural changes."

"A lot has happened in the world since the ori🉐ginal run of the show ended. There's just a lot more for Hank to complain about," adds Mike Judge.

Bobby is all grown up (though Pamela Adlon is still voicing him with much the same tone). Dale is running for mayor of Arlen. And what's more, Dale's ⛄political beliefs, once considered on the fringes, have somehow become much more mainstream.

Still, showrunner Patterson says that, as ever, King o꧟f the Hill will focus on the foibles of modern day life and the relationships of the characters as opposed to biting political satire.

"I think focusing on small, rel♓atable things was the way that we were able to steer clear of things that were gonna feel like gratuitous satire, on-the-no💙se, or just ineffective," says Patterson. "You know, 'Oh, I see what they're doing here. That's a conservative point of view, that’s a liberal point of view.' It's kind of easy and simple, right?" Patterson says.

"Hank always represented the sensible middle, the 🏅old show did a great job handling the extremes and kind of pushing people towards what the common-sense middle was," the showrunner continues. "Well, Hank's been gone, and while he's gone, the country's changed🅠 so much that where Hank stood in the middle isn't really the middle anymore."

"It always was a very specific show. It's about these characters who live around this alley. It's a character comedy,” Daniels states. "I hope no one has an expectation that it's a late-night show. Animationꦐ takes a long time. We're not ripping headlines. It's about character and culture."

As someone who loves King of the Hill and has, let's say, strong opinions 🐽about the characters, I'm genuinely encouraged that the creators and showrunner are focusing on the things that have always made the show great, especially the ways that the characters grow and evolve through their relationships with each other. I'm still a bit on the fence about the revival (the concept of bringing back an old show years after its original run doesn't have the best track record), but I'm optimistic for the potential in the show's updated premise.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Rick and Morty's Jerry is known for being a bit pathetic. ♒Eight seasons and it's kind of... well, his thing. But longtime viewers had better gear themselves up to see a different side of the character in upcoming episodes, say Chris Parnell and Sarah Chalke.

In a new interview with GamesRadar+, the voice a🐷c𓃲tors were asked why they think Jerry's pitifulness is still so funny 12 years in – and their responses were kind of surprising, albeit in different ways.

For Parnell, Jerry is the "everyman" that grounds all of the show's zany goings-on elsewhere for those tuning in. "Every n🅘ow and then, we'll get to see Jerry be a little bit of a badass," he teases. "But you know, it's a very fun character to play. It's fun to play someone that's put upon the way that Jerry is. I think people can relate to that aspect of [him] – you know, he doesn't always know what's going on. He's not usually in command of much, including his family. He's just sort of trying to make the best of it, and roll with it. He's come to accept, for the most part, this reality of having Rick in his life, with all of the dimensions and everything. I just think [he's] an every person that people can relate to."

Having premiered on May 25, the new chapter of Rick a🅷nd Morty sees the former wrestle (briefly) with his thoughts on the afterlife and face off against gun-wielding extraterrestrial Pope-types, as he continues to subject the lat🅺ter to all kinds of cosmic chaos.

"It’ll feel like a return to form and kind of like a 'we’re back, baby' kind of feeling, and hopefully, season 9 will be that but, you know, even more so. But it’ll be because it’s been a gradual process of just trying to get our wind in our𝔉 sails again."

When asked for her "take", Chalke replies: "I mean, first of all, he's one of my favorite characters. The cool part about doing a show for﷽ this long is that you don't normally have the luxurꦓy of doing 80 episodes. So to, like, see all the versions of Jerry and his confidence shift... We just recorded [episode 9] and it's one of my favorite Jerry episodes, where we see such a different side of him."

The former Scrubs star goes on to praise her scene partner, saying that Parnell does an "incredible job" of balancing Jerry's nuances. "The writing... they never stop giving [us] a bottomless supply of different journeys for these characters. It's kind of crazy. You read the script and you're like, 'This is not like any of the 79 that came before it'" she adds. "So I feel like, over the eight seasons, we've seen so many different versions of ꦐJerry. But I feel like it's neat, because at the beginning, you know, with Beth and Jerr✨y's relationship specifically, you kind of thought maybe it would just be one way, and that wasn't the case at all."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Ever since the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Arcane season 2 ending, there's been plenty of talk abo🍬ut how animation studio Fortiche and League of Legends team Riot Games will explore Piltover (and beyond) in possible sequels and spin-offs.

Now, write﷽r Amanda Overton, who penn▨ed scripts for both seasons of the Netflix series, has opened up on the ideas floating around in her head since Arcane came to a close last year.

"I wasn’t a mother when we were writing season 1 and 2, and now I am. And I was like, ‘There is so much more to e🌼xplore in terms of motherhood, or how phases o🥀f life shift," Overton told .

While t꧒here's an entire roster of League of Legends characters to grapple with, Overton's thematic throughline here is something that could extend to revisiting some fami𒉰liar faces.

"[I’d be interested in] older characters – what happens when Vi and Caitlyn are older, and now they’re adults, and what choices do theyཧ make?" Overton pondered.

The finale of Arcane saw Ambessa and her Noxian forces surge into Piltover, bolstered by the unlimited power of Viktor. Utilizing his time powers, Ekko eventually helped save the day, while Vi suffeꦕred two major losses in the shape of the re-animated Vander and Jinx, who seemingly sacrifice🎐d herself but whose fate was left ambiguous.

From there, it seems, the League of Legends-verse can go anywhere. In the same Screen Rant interview, showrunner and executive producer Christian Linke was a little more cautious in 🅠his outlook.

"I think, for now,💖 it’s a m🍰oment for us to take a step back [and] look at the whole map, if you will," Linke said.

That's🐽 in direct contrast to his words immediately following the end of Arcane, perhaps hinting at a slightly more measured approach moving fo🥂rward.

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:In a Twitch chat, he explained that one project had been in development for a year, with Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:later clearing up some of after confusion reigned over whether multiple shows were in the 𝐆works.

"To clarify, he d🐲idn’t say 3 separate shows – said exploring 3 region♉s," he tweeted. "We are exploring a bunch of different shows (and games)."

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Speaking to GamesRadar+, Linke affirmed that any n👍ew project – be it a show or a movie – would still be🌳 years away.

Linke explained, "Yeah, it takes time – depending on if it's a series or a movie. We're exploring both in many, many directions. A lot of it comes down to finding the right people, the right vis𝓰ion, the right idea, the right story. That'll take years, and once we have confidence that something's happening, we'll talk more about it."

Both seasons of Arcane are no✱w streaming ෴on Netflix.

"I think this season gave us great opportunities to explore the range of the characters as they are on the pag🐻e, and bring that same range we have inside us to the roles," Ian Cardoni tells GamesRadar+ about how getting a second season under his belt has transformed his take on Rick.

"I think fans will really enjoy the different iterations of Rick. I was telling Harry I have enjoyed watching his Mortys thro𝔍ughout the season too… I ✤think there's been an element of taking some more ownership over these roles and really trying to serve the writing that we've got."

Belden echoed those thoughts, saying, "There's a lot of gifts we've been given by the scripts. I honestly think we've worked these vocal muscles in getting these voices down over the course of season seven. I think now that we've honed that, we can turn our attention to other things – serving the script, embodying🌳 the characters a little bit more, and just bringing these incredible stories to life in the way that fans have come to expect of the show."

Cardoni and Belden 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:took over from Ju🌌stin Roiland after the co-creator and voice actor departed Rick and Morty after charges relating to felony domestic battery and false imprisonment were revealed. The charges were later dropped due to "insufficient evidence." More allegations surrounding Roiland emerged in a later report from . Roiland’s lawyer stated they were "false and defamatory."

Rick and Morty season 8 airs Sundays on Adult Swi🔯m at 11pm ET/PT.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> It might feel like years since Adult Swim released new episodes of Rick and Morty, but for Morty and Summer, that's just a fraction of time compared to what they go through in the season eight ꦛpremiere.

'Summer of All Fears' begins with much older versions of the Sanchez siblings in a world very different fr𒉰om our own. Phone chargers are all 💛anyone seems to talk about, which might have something to do with the reason why Summer is in the midst of launching an electrical sky grid that will make said chargers obsolete.

With her mission accomplished, Summer and Morty are thrusওt back into the real world where we discover they've lived 17 years in a matrix of Rick's design, all to teach them one brutal lesson: "Never take Grandpa's phone chargers." The problem is that only a few days ꦐhave passed in the real world, and both kids still remain trapped in the same teen bodies they started out with.

"I fell in love and ran a country," argues Summer, desperate to ho🏅l⛄d onto those memories before Rick mindwipes her and Morty. Grandpa agrees, allowing them both to remember everything that happened in the matrix. What could go wrong, right?

A new horizon

Rick and Morty in Rick's lab in the season 8 premiere

At first, Summer and her mother get on better than ever. "I love this vers൲ion of you," 🔴says Beth as they share a third mimosa together on a casual Wednesday afternoon. Rick too is impressed by this new "older" version of Morty who's gotten a lot more crafty when it comes to building machinery.

Everyone bonds and everything is schwifty. The end. Except, with this being Rick and Morty, things soo𒀰n turn south in the biggest, most deranged way possible.

Summer begins to patronize her mother rather cruelly, as if those extra🔥 17 years of existence make her better somehow. The pair end up in a store for middle-aged women who are actually vampires in disguise, because… Well, because Rick and Morty's gonna Rick and Morty.

Meanwhile, Morty t🐲ricks Rick into a new matrix to teach his Grandpa a lesson of his own: "Don't put people in the matrix." With Rick out of the way, Morty races off on a suicide mission triggered by PTSD he developed following the "Phone Wars" he lived through in the matrix.

By the end of the episode, Rick frees himself in tiไme to save his nephew and everything resets, as per usual. Except, for a moment there, it really looked like Morty and Summer were going to keep their aged-up minds. "I have a feeling things are going to be different now," says Matrix Summer, as if she has a plan to stick around longer. But then Rick resets both of their brains last minute, reverting the show back to exactly how it was before.

One last scene teases how the ramifications of this episode could still linger, however, when Summer comes across a video that "Matrix Summer" left behind to reveal the memories she's lost while sharing advice for the future. Our Summer doesn't care thou🅘gh, cutting the video off mid-sentence – "Urgh, send a text" – and then calls her friend Trisha to ask about something far more important: "What are we huffing tonight, biiiitch?"

A missed chance to re-energize

Rick and Morty

So the writers were just toying with us all along, leading us to believe that Matrix Summer might have a bigger impact before switching thi♕ngs up and pulling the rug out from unde🍷r us. It's a cheeky twist that definitely kept me on my toes, but it's also a missed opportunity for Rick and Morty's future.

With at least two more seasons confirmed and fan interest waning, introducing "Matrix" versions of two key characters could have re-energized the series, shaking up the family dynamic in entirely unexpected ways. We've only known this new Morty and Summer fℱor one 🦋episode, but there could have been a lot of potential here for something exciting and even game-changing.

Thereꦗ's the way Summer speaks down to her mother, and presumably her father too, renegotiating her vapid teeཧn experiences with an adult mind that – let's not forget – started an actual war in the matrix.

Morty's numerous deaths in said war could have been interesting to explore as well, building on the nihilist thread that's already integral to his and Rick's stor﷽yline especially. Plus, wouldn't it have been fascinating to see an "older" Morty hold his own more against his grandpa? Who needs Evil Morty whe𒉰n you've got "Matrix" Morty?

One-off episodes number among the show's best, but it's the serialised storylines that generate the most discussion between fans online. And when handled right, the🤡y're also memorable in their own right, such as Rick Prime's role in season seven and the fate of Rick's wife, Diane.

Had the writers decided to 🍬keep Matrix Morty and Summer around, they could have serialised the plot of season eight with this throughline while remaining free to explore the usual adventure of the week episodes too.

There's also precedent for this, as far back as the sixth episode of season one (titled 'Rick Potion No. 9') when Rick and Morty accidentally mutated the whole world into "Cronenbergian" monsters. Rather th♕an fix their mistake, Rick simply found another universe almost identical to his own where he and Morty replaced freshly deceas𝄹ed versions of themselves who they buried in the backyard.

While 'Summer of All Fears' didn't have to be a game-changing episode of that magnitude, it wouldn't hurt to see more ambition of that kind, 11 years in. After all, the trailer for season eight describes Rick and Morty as "the best high concept sci-fi rigamarole in the universe." While the premiere is a decent crack at this, the show is not quite at that level anymore, which means something needs to change if we're really gonna make it to "澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Rick and Morty forever, 100 years."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> With seven seasons aired and an eighth on the way, sci-fi animated series Rick and Morty has seen and done… Well, not everything, but it's done a lot. While sp💧eaking with Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder ahead of the premiere, I had to know whether there was still anything on their conceptual bucket list they'd yet to do and whether that could possibly, maybe include a full-on musical.

"That's an example of something that I wouldn't take off the table," says Harmon.♏ "But I think🎃 the reason it hasn't happened is because of the other rule, which is I would never force that just because."

"Back in Community's writers room," he continues, "there would be these bucket list things, and that woul✨d include a musical episode, and those might be cautionary tales."

Basically, any episode concept that begins with some version of, "Oh, we have to do this," is just asking for trouble, according to Harmon. "If that's the only impetus, then maybe don't do that," he adds, noting that Rick and Morty is generally "more♓ cautiou♛s about that stuff."

But if you, like me, have been specifically waiting for a true Rick and Mortyꦗ musical, there's still hope.

"A well-done musical episode, there's no reason for it to not happen other than a poorly done one would be a terrible thing," says Harmon. "I would say nothing's off th⛄e table, including like an episode with no dialog, almost like a silent movie, like a 'show, don't tell,' thing, and what other kind of meta – we could do an episode in all one take! All one drawing!"

How that last idea might work exactly remains a mystery. But Harmon and Marder h🧸ave a good laugh imagining how that would possibly work.

"No edits!" concludes Harmon.

Rick and Morty season 8 is set to premiere on Sunday, May 25, 2025, on Adult Swim at 11pm ET/PT. If you can't wait, there's always our ranking of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best shows on HBO Max to keep you busy.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Ani﷽mated sci-fi adventure series Rick and Morty notably and frequently plays around with its own structure. Some episodes are entirely their own, some tie into a larger narrative, some are mostly the former with some of the latter. According to showrunner Scott Marder, this mixture is thanks in part to an inabilit🌌y to ignore killer ideas.

For Marder, a "complete season" is one that does both episodic storytelling and serial narratives. "I think there's always an eye on doing all of it in a season," h🐠e says. But🌜 that doesn't mean everything always goes exactly to plan.

"There's just no ignoring that we could be starting off a day trying to tackle something," says Marder, "and then someone will throw out an idea that is so inescapable, and it'll excite Dan ꦏ[Harmon], and it'll excite me so much that we don't even need to articulate that we're moving on to this for now, because it is sparking so much joy."

"You didn't come in on a Tuesday expecting to hear it, and you can't unhear it once you've 🉐heard it, and suddenly that's episode eight," he continues. "They all just sort of assemble, and then we find a method to the madness and a shape to a season that makes it feel like we broke it in the order that you're seeing it in, but it's really just finding the things that we find most attractive and most compelling and get the most sort of excitement going in a room on any given moment."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Afterꦚ seven🤡 seasons with an eighth on the way, what even is Rick and Morty at this point? The animated sci-fi adventure show has played with different genres, episode construction, and plenty more. GamesRadar+ spoke with co-creator Dan Harmon as well as executive producer and showrunner Scott Marder ahead of the new season, and the answer is unsurprisingly: it's complicated.

"Geez, I don't know what that would be," says Harmoඣn when I ask if there's any guideline to what Rick and Morty is at this point. "I mean, obviously it's centered on the characters, but even that we subvert. I mean, who are these people? Like, literally who? How do you know when they are them?"

I think it's defined by the fact that it is like a limitless sandbox for a narra🥀tive show that has as much freedom 𝓀as an anthology show," he continues. "And that is a paradox, because that's what defines it, is its lack of definition, I guess."

Marder, however, actไually thinks this is directly beneficial to Rick and Morty as a whole. The lack of strict definition lets the team be playful and uninhibited.

"I think that's what's keeping it going," s𒈔ays Marder. "I think the lack of guardrails has kept the idea flow smooth and light and loose in a way that a show, if we were just stuck in a one little set every week, would be really head-banging at this point. So I think the fact that we can do anything has kept us fresh."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> The Simpsons has found a new voice actor for Bart's lovably nerdy sidekick Milhouse Van Houten, with singer Kelly MacLeod taking on the role that was vacated by recently retired Simpsons voice actor emerit𒈔us Pamela Hayden, as announced via .

MacLeod will debut as Milhouse in the season 36 finale 'Estranger Things' in which she briefly voices the long running supporting character in a flash-forward scene where he appears as an adult alongside older versions of Bart and Lisa. She's only got one line, and since Milhouse will appear as an adult, it'll offer just an indication of what her regular performance as the character will🐬 sound like.

"When Bart & Lisa stop watching Itchy & Scratchy together, Marge fears that they’ll start to drift apart... but she has n🌳o idea how bad things are about to get!" ༒reads the episode's brief synopsis.

Pamela Hayden retired from The Sim♋psons in 2024 after 30 years of voicing Milhouse as well as many other Springfield mainstays incl𒁃uding bully Jimbo Jones, who will himself be voiced in future by comedian Mo Collins, as well as Rod Flanders, Malibu Stacy, and many more.

Kelly MacLeod previously had an appearance on The Simpsons in the 2022 episode 'Bart The Cool Kid' performing the song 'Two Badges♚, One Mind.' MacLeod got her start as a singer with the band Private Lif🌌e, going on to a small acting career in 2009's short film Slice of Pie while also joining a new band called The Sweet Potatoes.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> We've got our first look at 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Hulu's upcoming King of the Hill revival, and the single image manages to nail the personalities of all four of the beloved show's main characters. Bill Dauterive, Hank Hill, Dale Gribble, and the mononymous Boomhauer (his first name is Jeff, but no one calls him that) are lined up in their usual place by Hank's picket fence, with the immediately reco🅺gnizable environment given a 2025 twist thanks to the presence of all manne💙r of cutting edge technology.

Check it out:

Bill retrieves a food order from Mega-Lo Deliv🍃ery. Boomhauer is buried in an iPad. And perhaps most hilariously of all, Dale vapes while wearing a VR headset. Only Hank seems vaguely perturbed by the intrusion of all the tech, including the drone that's delivering a new six-pack of the gang's favorite Alamo Beer.

I've seen every episode of King of the Hill at least 20 times - call it "comfort viewing" in my house - and like Hank in the image, I've been inherently skeptical at the idea of the show com𓂃ing into 2025. The modern trend of reviving every show and franchise hasn't always hit the mark, and sometimes it's been downright 💟dreadful.

But seeing how the 2025 King of the Hill revival has managed to channel the essence of each charactꦬer into a single teaser image does give me hope that the show will find a way to feel fresh while also honoring the characters we know so well♈.

While I've still got some trepidation at seeing my favorite show brought back in a particularly volatile social era, perhaps some of King of the Hill's satirically charged take on finding kindness in an ever stranger world will be exactly what we ne🅺ed.

Hulu says the new 🌞King of the Hi꧙ll will premiere on the streaming service "soon," though there's been no announcement of a specific release date.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> The say𝔍ing goes, "I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known." But for me, I am the combined effort of every weird TV show I watched when I was a small child. If it weren’t for the impossibly dark Nickelodeon cartoon Invader Zim, or the live-action Lynchian series The Adventures of Pete and Pete, I might’ve grown up to be an accountant, or a data analyst. The one show I credit with my becoming a poet and entertainment writer, however, is Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Courage the Cowardly Dog hit Cartoon Network some 25 years ago, and I had the esteemed 🌺honor (they sent me an invite via Instagram DM and I screamed) to attend a special screening dubbed the Courage the Cowardly Dog Scare-a-thon. The sold-out screening, hosted by the , featured an intro and Q&A from none other than creator John R. Dilworth - and a surprise appearance from composer Jody Gray and writer Wil𓃲liam Hohauser.

I'll call you Courage, we'll have a grand time

Courage the Cowardly Dog season 1 episode 4

If you aren’t familiar with Courage, it’s a cartoon show that uses mixed mediums (everything from claymation to CGI) to tell the story of a dog (Marty Grabstein) who lives in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas with his beloved owner, a sweet, elderly wo🌞man by the name of Muriel (voiced by Theღa White) and her crotchedy husband, Eustace Bagge (Lionel Wilson; Arthur Anderson). But, as the opening narration will tell you, "creepy stuff" happens in the middle of nowhere - and it’s up to Courage to save Muriel from the likes of zombie directors, chickens from outer space, evil gerbil doctors, Egyptian pharaohs, and foxes with nefarious intentions.

To put it blankly: it was a black comedy horror cartoon for kids - and at times (or most of the time) the music and animation were so scary that it was impossible to watch with the lights off. One of the hosts of the screening even commented that t🍌he episode "King Ramses’ Curse" ended up "giving us all nightmares," which made Dilw🐭orth giggle. At the screening, he told us that Nowhere, Kansas was inspired by a series of photos of desolate areas from documentary photographer Dorothea Lange, and that Muriel was based on a Scottish woman that he was "in love with." He recreated his pitch to Cartoon Network, which was more or less the opening narration, and he did so by juggling three balls and wearing a space helmet. You can’t make this up.

Five episodes were shown: the very first Courage short, "Chicken from Outer Space" (in which Eustace eat eggs from an alien chicken and turns into one himself), "King Ramses’ Curse" (which includes the famous, "Return the slab or suffer my curse"), "Demon in the Mattress" (where Muriel buys a possessed mattress off a sketchy TV commercial), "Freaky Fred" (which sees Courage fight off Muriel’s terrifying barber nephew who broke out of a psych ward)ไ, and "Perfect," the second half of the series final🌠e.

The things I do for love

Courage the Cowardly Dog season 1 episode 4

Now, this was not your average screening - I go to many as a writer/reporter, and the audience is fairly quiet and respectful. This was more akin to a concert: every episode title screen was met with loud, enthusiastic screams - like One Direction had entered the building. We knew the iconic lines (most notably, "Kick 'em in the dishpan, woo woo woo" and Freaky Fred's drawn-out "Naughty"), and we said them out loud. We laughed like we were seeing these episodes, some that were our favorites from childhood, for the very first time. For me, it was my first time seeing "Perfect," and it was a beautiful send-off: the episode makes use of several different types of animation, with each segment directed by a different animator. I cried a bit, knowing that it was the series finale, and that even though the series was syndicated and 𒊎available on streaming - it still, in a way, marked the end of being a little kid.

A Q&A followed, with Dilworth taking some rather silly (but earnest) audience questions. What stuc▨k with me, though, was Dilworth talking about how much he loved working on the show. "Never got dull, never got tired," he said. And as for pushback on the scary episodes? The network didn’t care as long as they were "quiet" and "didn’t go beyond the budget𒁃."

The event only lasted around two hours, and I was so sad when it was over - because I had to leave the theater and go back to being an adult. There was something so special about being in that packed room with all of those people, the majority of whom were tattooed millennials with brightly colored hair (like myself) and beyond blissfully happy to be there. It was healing, in a way, to celebrate something you loved when you were small with 100 people who were all there for the 🐠same exact reason. Though it’s spring in New York, I’ll be stuck inside for the next two weeks, marathoning the rest of the episodes - but this time, with the lights off.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> David Fincher's newest project might just be one you didn't see comi🦋ng - mainly because it involves puppets...and the band who sings Californication.

The project in question is an animated musical short for season 4 of the Netflix sci-fi anthology Love, D𓂃eath, and Robots. The short is a recreation of the 2003 Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at Slane Castle in Ireland...with string-puppets. You can watch the trailer below.

The concert, which took place on August 23, 2003, was - at ꦚthe 🍒time - one of the biggest ever for the band with 80,000 fans in attendance after tickets sold out in just under two hours. The supporting acts included Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, Feeder, and Morcheeba.

Love, Death, and Robots first hit Netflix in 2019, and was initially conceived as a re-imagining of Fincher and creator Tim Miller's long-delayed reboot o𓂃f the 1981 animated sci-fi movie Heavy Metal. The project was in development hell for some 11 years, reportedly due to the creative differences between both the crew and the studios (H/T ).

Netflix agreed to pick up the project, but only on ꦍthe condition that the project was a series rather than feature-length film. Fincher previously directed the episode "Bad Traveling," for𒁃 season 3 of the series, which starred Troy Baker as the captain of a shark-hunting ship under attack by a man-eating crusteacean.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Rick and Morty is coming back in a matter of weeks, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:season eight has finally gotten its official trailer, which send🌳s the two eponymous heroes on a whirlwind tour of what appears to be a series of especially psychedelic adventures this time around.

Here's the trailer, which declares the venerabl𒆙e cult favorite animated series "the best high concept sci-fi rigamarole in the universe" - someꩲthing its legions of fans will likely agree with wholeheartedly.

"Rick and Morty is back for Season Eight! Life has meaning again!" declares Adult Swim's official description of the new season. "Anything is possible! Look out for adventures with Summer, Jerry, Beth, and the other Beth. Maybe Butter Bot will get a new task? Whatever happens, you can’t keep Rick and Morty dowꦡn for long. People have tried!"

Indeed Rick and Morty has survived its share of controversy as a show, m⛄aintaining a steady audience of devotees despite creative changes in previous seasons.

In its own weird way, Rick and Morty is indeed the culmination of decades of pop culture, taking its cues from some of the most complex sci-fi stories aroun♏d, combined with a uniquely cynical take on the classic trope of a boy and his old man scienti▨st pal.

With Rick and Morty season eight now looming with a May 25 release date, fans won't have to wait much longer to find out about all the trailer's weird alt-reality versions of Rick and its many alien worlds, hopefully with some absurd (and saltyꦗ) comedy along the way.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> The Akatsuki was a thorn in the Ninja World's side for nearly the entire run of Naruto's anime, yet which Akatsuki members were strongest? On paper, that may seem like a silly question. After all, we know each of these missing-nin held an S-Rank and were so powerful that, as a collective, th🐽ey destabilized the entire world. Yet even amongst this deadly team, there was a hierarchy, and it's clear some were stronger than others.

So, I've rewatched all of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Naruto in order and looked through every village's records to bring you what's unarguably the definitive ranking of all the Akatsuki members.ꩵ Well, I say every member; I haven't included Juzo or Orochimaru on this list because Juzo is a Naruto filler character, and we don't know enough about Orochimaru's power level when he was part of the team. If that annoys you, well, I'm sorry, but they'd both be under Sasori (you can argue amongst yourselves asও to where).

I've also treated Black Zetsu and White Zetsu as single members because, although they're technically two people, no one in the group treated them as two individuals, so I'm not going to either. Does that make me lazy? Naaaah. Now, let's get into one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best anime series around: here▨ are the 10 strongest Naruto Aka🐻tsuki members ranked!

All the Akatsuki members ranked by strength

10. Zetsu

The Akatsuki member Zetsu looking down during the anime series Naruto.

Easily t♐he weakest member of the Akatsuki, Zetsu himself admits he's not built for combat in the same way his colleagues are. Instead, this sneaky shinobi has several versatile jutsu, most notably the Mayfly technique. This uni♏que jutsu allows Zetsu to merge his body with the ground and travel anywhere he likes while being completely undetectable, even by the most proficient sensor ninjas.

Zetsu also has a powerful transformation technique, which, when combined with his other moves, makes him a 𓃲master of infiltration and assassination. It's also worth noting that while Zetsu may not be a powerhouse in the league of Itachi and Pain (to be fair, few ninjas are,) he's not going to lose to any random schmuck. His unique physiology gives him the ability to use the Wood Release and every other nature type, so he's more than capable of throwing hands if he needs to.

9. Hidan

The Akatsuki member Hidan screaming during a fight in an episode of the anime series Naruto.

Poor Hidan. When your signature jutsu involves dying, you know you're in trouble. Yes, Hidan might be an S-Rank ninja, but realistically, he's a one-trick pony – it's just that his one trick is pretty deadly. You see, Hidan is completely immortal, courtesy of the god Jashin. This means he can be impaled, beheaded, incinerated, and survive. To make matters worse, he's got a technique that allows him to transfer any 🐻of the damage he takes on to the person who damaged him.

He's basically a walking, talking voodoo doll. Sounds cool, right? Well, no. Hidan’s technique isn't automatic, and it takes a ritual to perform. This m💞eans if you know his secrets and can stop him from setting up his jut﷽su, he's basically as useless as an ice cream handbag in the desert. Beyond this technique, Hidan has no other jutsu and an IQ lower than Sasuke's mood on the Uchiha massacre anniversary. Basically, he's rubbish, and I presume he was only allowed into the Akatsuki to make up numbers.

8. Konan

The Akatsuki member Konan looking bored during an episode of the anime Naruto.

A powerful kunoichi, Konan has an incredible power that makes her one of the deadliest ninjas in the world. Through unknown means, she can transform her body into paper, allowing her to form wings, weapons, shields, and anything else she can imagine. In the anime, we see her put this power to deadly use, smoothing and skewering her opponents with terrifying eas꧃e.

Konan combines her incredible power with an impressive level of strategy and high analytical skills. It was this that allowಞe✃d her to work out Obito's weaknesses and push the seemingly invincible Uchiha to the brink of death. So why's she ranked so low? Sadly, we never see her win a fight, and sadly, she has a really lame weakness. Yes, what happens when paper gets wet? It falls apart – just like Konan.

7. Deidara

The Akatsuki member Deidara pointing at their head with a smirk during the anime Naruto.

If we were ranking the Akatsuki by sheer awesomeness, then Deidara would be top of the list, but sadly, this is a power ranking, and I'm afraid he doesn't crack the top five. Why? Well, while his explosive clay techniques are impressive, and he puts them to creative use, the sad fact is that Deidara only really knows how to do one thing, whi🍸ch is blow things up.

Now, I must admit he does that wonderfully; his C4 technique, which releases microscopic bombs, is particularly terrifying, and he did manage to defeat Gaara single-handedly. Yet agaiꦓnst an opponent capable of neutralizing his bombs like Sasuke or fast enough to lock him in genjutsu, he's essentially powerless. Indeed, Deidara admitted he was♊ weaker than his master, Sasori… speaking of which.

6. Sasori

The Akatsuki member Sasori standing in a fighting stance during the anime Naruto.

By far the most underrated member of the Akatsuki, Sasori had the ignominy of being the first member of the group to die. However, that doesn't mean he's weak. In fact, Sasori was a sort of one-man army that canonically defeated ꩲan entire country with his legions of puppets. Oh yeah, you read that right. Sasori uses puppets, but these aren't the puppets you see on Sesame Street. Each of Sasori's puppets is a deadly we▨apon, full of blades, projectiles, and gallons of poisonous gas, allowing him to fight his opponent from a safe distance.

But wait, there's more because these puppets are made from the bodies of his dead opponents, which lets him use any of their techniques, kekkei gen𒁏kai, or jutsu. Sounds pretty powerful, right? It gets worse. Sasori has converted himself into a living puppet, so even if you defeat his hundreds of puppets, you have to deal with his most potent weapon yet: himself. So, if he had all that going for him, ho💃w did Sasori lose? He let himself lose. It sounds like Kishi just wrote himself into a corner to me.

5. Kakuzu

The Akatsuki member Kazuku glaring straight ahead during the anime Naruto.

Kakuzu's a super strong ninja who, similarly to Sasori, often gets underestimated. Why don't Naruto fans rate Sasori? Sadly, the Akatsuki's unofficial treasurer had the bad luck to try and fight the show's protagonist right after a training arc (if he'd ever watched an anime, he'd know that's a recipe for disaster). In all seriousness, though, Kazuku was a beast; he hꦚad access to every nature type, knew offensive and defensive techniques, and could combine elements on the fly.

However, what made him such a terrifying threat was his signature jutsu, the Earth Grudge Fear, 🦩which granted him several unique powers, including immortality (s🅺orry, Hidan), regeneration, and the ability to transform his body into weird black tendrils, which he could manipulate at will. All of this made Kakuzu powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Hashirama, the First Hokage. So, with all that in mind, why isn't he in the top spot? Well, honestly, Kakuzu might be a beast, but everyone else on this list is a monster.

4. Kisame

The Akatsuki member Kisame holding a massive weapon and smiling during the anime Naruto.

Arguably the most inhuman of the Akatsuki, Kisame was completely loyal to the group's mission, which made him a ferocious fighter, especially when backed into a corner. Not that he needed much help in that regard, because Kisame, as befits his shark-like appearance, was an incredibly dangerous ninja. His basic skills were impressive enough; he was a master of water ninjutsu, an accomplished swordsman, and his taijutsu skills were high enough that he could hold off Team Gai using just 60% of his power.

What really made Kisame such a threat, though, was his sword, Samehada. This living weapon had a ravenous appetite for chakra, and with a single swing, Kisame could steal the energy of any opponent he fought. Not only that, the sword could effectively neutralize any jutsu thrown at Kisame. Incredibly, though, that wasn't the limit of the pair's power. Kisame and Samehada could fuse, becoming a horrifying shark-like monster with incredible chakra reserves. This form was capable of bringing ninja as powerful as Killer-B to their knees and made Kisame one of Akatsuki’s top fighters. His only wea🍸kness? Well, Samehada is a fickle beast, and let's just say it's not afraid of betraying its master if it finds a more delicious chakra source.

3. Itachi Uchiha

The Akatsuki member itachi walking next to a river on a sunny day during the anime Naruto

Itachi is a ludicrously powerful ninja. He graduated from the academy at age six and was an Anbu at age 11. Even by the standards of the incredibly talented Uchiha clan, Itachi was seen as a prodigy, a genius among geniuses, who'd lead the clan to great things. Then he murdered them all. Yes, at the tender age of just 13, he wiped out one of the ninja world's strongest clans and cemented himself as a legend. That may seem obscene, but his powers🌟 and skill made it child's play. In all seriousness, Itachi has superb taijutsu and ninjutsu skills, but it's his genjutsu abilities that make him such a powerhouse.

With a glance from his Sharingan, he can cast illusions so powerful they're indistinguishable from reality, allowing him to easily defeat eve𒀰n the most powerful opponents. Unarguably, though, what makes Itachi one of the Aktsuki's most prized fighters is his Mangekyou Sharingan, which gives him access to Amaterasu (black fire that can burn through anything), Tsukuyomi (the most powerful genjutsu in the series), and Susano, a sort of kaiju-sized chakra avatar. Itachi also wields the Sword of Totsuka and the Yata Mirror. Oh, and he can rewrite reality by sacrificing the sight in his eyes. So, how was he defeated? Well, he does have one weakness: he loves his little brother.

2. Pain

The Akatsuki member Pain and a bunch of his puppets standing together during the anime Naruto.

The self-proclaimed God of the Shinobi world, Pain doesn't just talk the talk. He walks the walk. What makes him very nearly the top dog? Well, he has the Rinnegan, special eyes that are supposedly a gift from the gods, which give Pain powers beyond imagining. He can manipulate gravity, summon unique and powerful animals, absorb chakra, tear people's souls from their bodies, hear your thoughts, shoot missiles from his head (yes, really), and absorb chakra. He's essentially every member of the Akatsuki in one body… actually no. He's every member of the A🔜katsuki in six bodies because Pain, real name Nagato, doesn't go into battle himself. He splits his power into six bodies (known as the Six Paths of Pain) that he controls remotely, which allows him to stay safe regardless of what happens to his puppets.

Not that much happens to his puppets because of how obscenely strong they are. This guy took down the entire Konoha military single-handedly, killed Jiraiya and Kakashi, and basically made every leaf shinobi who wasn’t called Naruto look like they were fresh out of the academy. Even when Naruto arrived, it turned out that the title character was barely a match for Pain,🥀 and it took the combined efforts of the Toad Sages, three kaiju-sized toad summons, and a last💟-minute save from Hinata and Naruto's ghost parents for them to defeat the Six Paths. The only reason Nagato lost? He fell victim to Naruto's most powerful ability, the talk-no-jutsu.

1. Obito Uchiha

The Akatsuki member Obito glaring angrily straight ahead during the anime series Naruto.

Now I know what you're thinking after Pain and Itachi; how broken must Obito be? Well, he's more broken than a LEGO set that's just fallen off a 30ꦿ-foot skyscraper into a pool of plastic melting acid. Obito is bonkers. Not only does he have the usual Uchiha abilities – the Sharingan, powerful chakra, and all that good stuff – he was trained by Madara, the strongest Uchiha in history, has thღe same body as Zetsu, giving him Wood release, and he's got a Rinnegan just like Pain.

Yes, you read that right he's effectively a grab bag of every power we’ve listed so far (Except Hidan's powers because he sucks), but there's more. Like Itachi, Obito has unique Mangekyou Sharingan powers that let him control time and space. Using this power, which is called Kamui, he can teleport himself, become completely intangible, and suck people into fissurꦐes into the space-t🌳ime continuum. He can literally blink you out of existence. Terrifying right?

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> The new 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Devil May Cry anime on Netflix is a pineapple-on-pizza, orange soda rush of American excess – an unexpected change for Capcom's hack 'n' slash fantasy games dominated by black leather and old European brick. But Johnny Yong Bosch – the buttery voice behind both Nero in the Devil May Cry games and protagonis🅠t Dante in the anime – tells me he will one day look more recognizable.

While Netflix's sugar high Dante is "young here," Bosch tells me in a recent interview, "eventually, if we get enough seasons, and the story continues, we're going to see him really kind of go through all of these things, and then change and become who we're more familiar with." Netflix just announced that 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Devil May Cry season 2 is on its way, so it's possibleꦺ Bosch's plan will start fruiting soon.

"Hopefully, once we get to these more iconic moments, there will be so much more weight behind the character," Bosch says, "because now you've been with him through this journey, di𒆙scovering who he is and finding himself."

Devil May Cry's first season, created by Castlevania producer 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Adi Shankar, spends a lot of time waiting for Dante to realize things about h💯imself that fans of the games already know – who he is, what he's made of, and how far he's willing to go.

That kind of Freudian interrogation has been present in the laꦿrger Devil May Cry universe before – "we've seen glimpses of the things that happened to him as a child," as Bosch reminds me. "And some people, if you've read some of the manga or even the novels, you would see other really💮 dark things that he's gone through."

But, Bosch continu𓃲es, "I think, in this [adaptation], we're really exploring those." So while Netflix's Dante lacks the laugh lines and wicked confidence he exudes in the Devil May Cry games, there's a lot of room for him to grow.

Devil May Cry Nero actor didn't realize he was auditioning to play Dante in the new Netflix series until the show's producer said he wrote the lead role just for him: "A different weight on my shoulders."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Hot 𝄹on the heels of its premiere, Netfix's Devil May Cry animated show is already getting a second season. Created by showrunner Adi Shankar, the animated series adapts the popular Capcom video games in which main hero Dante does high-octane battle with increasingly powerful demonic foes.

The first season of Devil May Cry, which runs for 8 episodes, has already received praise from critics and audiences alike, debuting at number 4 on Netflix's global top ten list, with a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 95% freꦡsh.

Here's how Netflix describes the show:

"In this animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game and from the vision of Adi Shankar, sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and d🌸emon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck."

Devil May Cry season one features two posthumous voice roles from actor 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Kevin Conroy, best known for voicing Bat🐼man on Batman: The Animated Series, and Tony Todd, best known for his role as Candyman in the 👍classic '90s horror film.

"What I wanted to do with this was three things. First of all, the original anime was very much like a monster of the week-style format, until you got to the last three episodes – then it was an arc," 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Shankar told GamesRadar+ ahead of the release of Devil May Cry season 1. "But 🐭this one, I wanted it to feel like a giant movie, like a Hollywood blockbuster from between 1999 and 2004. References being The Matrix, Underworld, Bad Boys, Equilibrium – I could go on, and on, and on. But🏅 I wanted it to feel like a Hollywood blockbuster, and, really, I wanted the audience to experience Devil May Cry in that mold."

No release daꦐte for Devil May Cry season two has been announced.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> H𓆏anna-Barbera's classic cartoon Scooby-Doo is getting yet another fresh coat of paint in the form of an updated concept, this time from Netfl𓄧ix, who have announced a new live-action reimagining of the story that recasts Fred, Shaggy, Daphne, and Velma as kids attending and living around a summer camp.

Titl🌠ed simply Scooby-Doo, the new show is executive produced by none other than Greg Berlanti, well-known as the producer behind DC comic adaptation shows including Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and more, as well as The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He'll be joined by production company Midnight Radio, consisting of producers Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg, known for Netflix's live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bepop.

In the series, Shaggy and Daphne are pals attending a summer camp, while Velma is a townie living nearb▨y, and Fred is a new kid in town with a mysterious past. They'll come together when they find Scooby, a Great Dane puppy who may be the key to solving a mur꧒der.

"A modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog," reads the official logline for the Netflix streaming series. "During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling𝕴 each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets."

As fans well know, the classic Scooby-Doo almost never experienced anything to do with actual supernatural beings, instead unmasking various criminals pretending to be ghosts, monsters, and other magical creatures in order to further their schemes. We're expecting this could likely carry over to the new show as well, despite the outwardly supernatural set-up for the pl🎐ot.

"One of my first and favorite jobs in Hollywood was sitting with Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera while they signed animation cells," saไys Berlanti in aꦺ statement. "Josh and Scott and everyone at Midnight Radio have crafted a story that captures their amazing spirits and their genius creation. We are grateful to them and everyone at Warners and Netflix for the partnership in helping bring this iteration of Scooby-Doo to life!"

No planned premie𒀰re date for Netflix's Scooby-Doo has been announced.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Captain Planet is one of the most iconic cartoons of the '90s, with a focus on ordinary people coming together to fight environmental 🅘destruction and corporate greed with elemental powers.

Though Captain Planet has largely been dormant since the cartoon's original run, now he's com♏ing back in the f🐟orm of a new Dynamite Entertainment comic book by writer David Pepose, artist Eman Casellos, colorist Jorge Sutil, and letter Jeff Eckleberry, which brings the Pl💙aneteers and their mission into the 21st century.

With environmental concerns more pressing than ever, the time is right for Captain Planet to return. But before Captain Planet #﷽1 arrives in April, Newsarama spoke with writer David Pepose to dig into what it takes to bring a character like Captain Planet into the modern age while holding onto the best parts of its nostalgic core, and of course the ways that the concept fits into our current reality.

Captain Planet #1

Newsarama: David, we've known each other for a long time, and something that I think is kinda funny is that Captain Planet #1 was announced almost 10 years to the day that you started talking about how much you wanted to make it a comic. It was sincerely within a day or two. How does it feel to finally get to do it, and how is the experience different from what you always imagined?

David Pepose: It's funny, it really feels like the biggest manifestation of my career to date. This is something that I've talked about, especially with you, for over 🍨a decade now. I've always seen potential in Captain Planet, seeing all the ingredients for success, how multicultural and diverse it is in such an organic way. It almost feels like Giant-Sized X-Men #1. Seeing the way that new pop culture strains can be kind of injected into Capt😼ain Planet's DNA to really heighten all those core qualities. I feel like it's a book that's always been ahead of its time, and now the world is finally caught up.

It's been such a blast to write. Sometimes you work on assignments and it sounds really exciting, and then you get꧅ into the nitty-gritty of it, you realize the kind of unexpected challenges. But for Captain Planet, it really feels like a leap of faith being rewarded, like all my instincts have been vindicated. Had I written this book 10 years ago, I wouldn't have been ready for it. But I think with all the lessons that I've learned in my creator-owned books and my work at Marvel, and Dynamite, and Mad Cave, I've really been able to bring a decade of practice to Captain Planet, and it's all the better for it.

Captain Planet #1

You mentioned how relevant the concept of Captain Planet is in 2025, given how serious environmental issues have become. On the other side of that coin is the sort of hokey pop culture reputation the original cartoon has. There are so many memes, and the Don Cheadle video and stuff. How do you move on from the kitchiness of the cartoon while holding on to what is important about the core concept, and the good parts of the nostalgia?

I think that's an excellent question. For me, the appeal of Captain Planet is that it's the world outside your wiꩵndow. This isn't set in a fictional universe🍒, this is set in our real world, and the core cast members are ordinary people like you and me. They're not superheroes. They don't have codenames. They don't even have costumes. So I think it's about taking that ethos and translating it into our book. I think that's similar to what I've been doing on Space Ghost and in my upcoming Speed Racer book.

A big directive I had for all these nostalgic cartoon based comics is, you know, they're very much a product of their time. Captain Planet was very firmly rooted in the early '90s. And so, for me, it's a question of how we take those core elements ꦯand just imagine what would happen if it was introduced in 2025 instead. Seeing the ways storytelling has evolved since then, seeing the way geopolitics have changed in the last 35 years, and then letting the characters reflect that.

We're thrilled to see that people seem excited to see that Captain Planet has grown up and evolved🌼 with the times, but that it hasn't sacrificed any of the meanings of the the original core message.

Captain Planet #1

As you mentioned, you're carving out a niche for yourself writing comics tied to classic animated shows. You're writing Space Ghost right now, and you've got Speed Racer coming up. What's it like having all three of those on your plate, and how do you make sure to stay true to those concepts without repeating yourself?

I think the big thing is that the genres and tones and modes of storytelling ca𒉰n be a little different between all three. I think the central premise of the way that I attack all these books is the same, which is, how do you take these core elements, these core landmarks, of these original properties, and how do we put just a little bit of a polish, a little bit of a twist on them to make them sparkle like new?

For me, it's always about accessibility. You know, Captain Planet, Space Coast, Speed Racer, they're all brand new continuity, so you don't have to watch the original cartoons in order to🌊 appreciate the stories we're telling. I think any of these properties🎐 that have the kind of staying power that these three do, there's clearly something core in the concept that has let them withstand the test of time, and that's the thing that I really try to excavate.

And so I think rꩲeaders have been really excited to see these𝓡 properties that they maybe only half remember and say, oh, there's like a whole universe here to explore, one that can surprise us, and one that is right for reinterpretation and re-imagination. I think that's why the cartoon nostalgia books have been so successful. Whether it's the Energon universe or Thundercats or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, people want to be surprised. I think all three of the books I'm writing, they have such amazingly untapped potential. I feel really honored and really privileged to be the guy who gets to excavate that.

Captain Planet #1

Earlier you compared the Planeteers to the cast of Giant Size X-Men, and I think that's such a cool comparison. What can you tell us about the Planeteers as they appear in this comic? Which characters have you found yourself drawn to?

Well, for starters, I should talk about Captain Planet himself. I think both in terms of his visuals and his concept, he really represents, I think, the evolution of this series. You know, for those who might remember Captain Planet ꦫin his '90s heyday, there was the mullet, there was the crop top. It was very much, like I said, a product of its time.

And so, working with artist Eman Casallos, one of the first things we discussed was, let's give Captain Planet an update in terms of his design. Instead of rooting it so firmly in a particular year, we wanted to channel how timeless this character is, that he's this immortal elemental champion, made out of not flesh and blood, but rocks and stone and ice and flame. It wa✃s Eman who wound up pitching us the Captain Planet dad-beard, and of all his designs, everybody immediately glommed onto the beard, like "that is so cool!"

That speaks so much to Captain Planet. I think, as a character, you know, I don't see him as a grim and gritty character, right? If anything, I see him as this classic heroic, reassuring figure. He's somebody whose core mission is that he doesn't want to see anybody die. And so the idea of having him be this fatherly mentor 🐻figure, the dad beard, makes perfect sense.

And on top of it, you know, people are suddenly sayꦯing "sexy Captain Planet" lat൩er. [Laughs]

I saw those comments. [Laughs] It's definitely out there. I think that's funny, but as you said, it's important to find those little touchstones in the cast. Tell me a little bit about how you've given the same fresh coat of paint to the Planeteers.

For me, the thing that's so important about the Planeteers is, the core part of their relationship with Captain Planet is that it's symbiotic. "The power is yours" - that means we can't just wis🍒h it all away. Human beings on the ground level are the only thing that can save our world. So that's the core of this series to ♒me - ordinary people are suddenly granted extraordinary powers.

When Eman and 𓆉I were talking ab▨out this, we obviously weren't going to give them costumes, not even matching outfits. We wanted to make sure that these look like people that you could run into on the street.

So for example, Kwame really is like a natural born 🐟leader in that he was a former soccer star from Ghana whose career was sidelined after sustaining anཧ injury. I pitched him as the Cyclops of the group.

I love that. Kwame was always my favorite Planeteer.

I love 🤡Kwame too. And so when we meet him, he's kind of trying to figure out what his new trajectory is, but he's got that instinctive team building element. Eman put in a lot of small touches, like his hoodie has the number of his favorite football player, and leaning into the walking stick that he had in the original Captain Planet, and giving him a knee-brace.

Wheeler didn't necessarily need a ton of revisions visually, but I love the way that we've re-contextualized his backstory. We've made him an auto worker from Detroit, and I think that's really important, because there's all these difღferent angles and facets of the environmental conversation. And I think Wheeler serves as our point of view character. His🅷 hero's journey is really all about justifying the Planeteers as a team.

Linka might be my favorite of the bunch. Out of all the Planeteers, she's done the biggest 180 from when Captain Planet first debuted. Back in 1990 she was the conservative Planeteer from the Soviet Union. Things have changed pretty dramatically in the last 35 years, so Linka is the most leftist Planeteer now. She headlines an underground eco activist punk band, kind of in the vein of Pussy Riot. She's our team s🦄crapper. She's like our Illyana Rasputin, our Wolverine. She's super fun, and Eman Casellos draws her so, so incredibly.

Gi is very similar to the way I wrote Black Knight in the pages of Savage Avengers. Having a team scientist is very important. You know, it always is helpful in terms of a storytelling tool. In the original cartoon, Gi, who's from South Korea, was a marine biologist. I love the idea of somebody who loves the science of all this. She's genuinely enthusiastic. This is her passion. And I think she's the heart of the team, in a lot of ways. She's very bubbly and effervescent, and a lot of people tend to underestimate her, but as we'll see as the series goes on, she's the one who knows the stakes bette▨r than anyone. So for her, hope is a revolutionary act. It's either that, or the alternative is to curl up into﷽ a ball of despair.

And speaking of smoldering and broodiness, Ma-Ti is probably our biggest glow up of the entire series. And that was by design. A lot of people sℱaw Ma-Ti in the original cartoon as the punchline. You know, what is the power of Heart? And for me, it's tactical telepathy. So the way that we've recontextualized Ma-Ti is that, you know, he's from, he's an indigenous person from Brazil, and he and his people have been forced off their lands by corrupt mining interests. Ma-Tiwas about to stage a kind of a violent revolution, until he encounters the power of Heart, and it cleanses his mind of all rage and anger and violence, and turns him into this avowed pacifist - who can absolutely wreck you. He's our x-factor of the team. He's our Batman. He's our Shang-Chi. He doesn't need to throw a punch because he's got the power ofও Heart, which means he can summon animals. He can reach inside your mind. He can make you see things that aren't there. He's really cool.

I'm very excited for readers 🅰to get to see what happens when the Planeteers finally combine their powers. It🌠's going to be more explosive than you might think.

You've brought up Eman Casellos a lot as a key part of the creation of this comic. How has it been developing your working relationship with him, and how has he surprised you?

Surprise is the perfect word to describe Eman. I was not familiar with his work before we started working together. He's worked on books like Pathfind𝓡er over at Dynamite and, boy, I couldn't be more blown away. He came to this book swinging. You know, I could tell from the jump, he believed in this concept, and he came to this hungry and so he really is the best of both worlds. He's got a style that evokes a little bit of Gary Frank, a little bit of Steve Dillon. But there's also bits of Doug Mahnke and Frank Quitely that you can see in the finer details.

And Eman real𒈔ly nails the big, epic, action blockbuster moments, the Avatar: The Last Airbender style elemental bending. But the thing that I love most about Eman is that his characters really act. There's so much great expressiveness and body language, and you get to he really eleꦛvates everything that I send him, and he really breathes such incredible life into these characters. He's not a household name, but I hope to change that with this book. He really has just gone the extra mile every step of the way.

I can't ask for a better collaborator than Eman C🦋asselos. And I think when you see the work that he's been putting in on Captain Planet, along with our colorist Jorge Sutil, and our letter Jeff Eckleberry, you're going to see, this is a really good looking book, and so I'm really thankful that we get to also have a cool story attached to it.

Captain Planet #1

The other really big part of Captain Planet is his villains, his rogues gallery. We know that Lucian 'Lootin' Plunder will appear. What else can you tell us about the villains we'll see in this comic?

I think for me, Captain Planet has always been, it's been two sides of the coin. There's environmental disasters and catastrophes, but there's also the human greed that fuels all of that. And so a character like Lucien Plunder, or as they said in the original cartoon Lootin Plunder, he felt like the perfect villain to start all this out. He's sor🐓t of ⛦this ruthless Elon Musk type billionaire who, you know, he's looking to amass wealth and power, and he's kind of masking it and couching it in this very utopian kind of speech, almost like a Lex Luthor type. And out of all the elements that have been so timely about this book, that's the one that feels perhaps the most uncomfortably so. Every single day that I read the news, or I read the headlines, I'm like, oh, there's Lucian Plunder at it again.

So he, you know, he feels like a really good villain as sort of like a tent pole that we can then kind of spin other Captain Planet villains off of and so we'll be seeing characters like, you know, Dr Blight and her AI assistant Mal. They're going to have, I think, like a really crucial role during our origin story. Duke Nukem is going to appear. Eman Casellos did a really cool job with a redesign on that character, in a way that I think speaks to the heightened elements of the original cartoon, but also kin﷽d of keeps them still plausible in our street level world. Argos Bleak is another one who's sort of like our Eric Prince Blackwater mercenary type. He's Plunder's right hand man. And yeah, we have some other villains in that we're going to keep a little close to the vest. But suffice to say, there's going to be lots🦩 of threats for Captain Planet and the Planeteers to face, and they are going to escalate accordingly.

People used to say the Eco-Vil𝐆lains are bad, right? That they were too unsubtle. And I'd argue that reality has gotten a lot less subtle. So it's up to us as people from all around the world to really kind of come together if we want to help save our world.

Captain Planet #1

That kind of dovetails right into the last question I want to ask you here. What does it mean to you to be writing this comic, not just as a dream of yours, but also in 2025, right now? And what do you hope that readers will take from Captain Planet as the series goes on?

You know, I think the reason I've championed trying to write this book for so long is my core philosophy as a comic creator and as a comic fan is that there's always room to build a bigger table. I take that philosophy to everything I write, 𓂃whether it's the concepts that I do or the characters that I gravitate towards. I think Captain Planet is the truest distillation of all that. You know, this is a book where our goal is to make everybody feel seen, to offer everybody a room at the table. And I think that maybe sp꧅eaks to who I am and where I come from. You know, I grew up Jewish in the Midwest. I learned very, very quickly that I was not part of the dominant culture. And so I want everybody to be able to enjoy the same safety and rights and considerations that I'd ask for my family.

And 🔴I know that there's only so much that I can do as a straight, white comic book writer. But I do feel like 💮representation is important, and I think showing people that we are stronger together than we are apart, that's what a book like Captain Planet really means to me. It's a book that is designed to promote inclusiveness, to promote empathy, to show that you know you can come together and be friends with people from all different walks of life, and that, together, we can fight for a better world. I can't wait for readers to take this journey with us and to see why Captain Planet is one of the great superheroes that they've never thought about.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> If you were a kid in the '90s and you were lucky enough to come across Disney'🍒s Gargoyles in its all-too-brief three season run, there's a solid chance that, like me, you were instantly hooked on the show's striking visual, fantasy-fueled history, and remarkably mature storytelling. But Gargoyles ended way too soon, leaving its dedicated fanbase craving more for nearly 30 years now.

Thankfully, one of the show's creators and most instrumental architects, Greg Weisman, has returned to Gargoyles several times over the years with comic books that continue the story, with the most recent era of the franchise kicking off at Dynamite E💎ntertainment back in 2022.

Now, in the latest chapter of th♔e Gargoyles comic, Weisman is joined by one o💟f the original producers of the cartoon, Frank Paur, and colorist Robby Bevard for Gargoyles: Demona, which digs into the secret history of arguably the show's most striking character, its embattled femme fatale Demona.

Newsarama caught up with Weisman ahead of the story's kickoff on Free Comic Book Day with a special release before the full series launches in May, digging into the history of Gargoyles, what it's like getting back together with another of the series' originaᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚl creative voices, and what makes Demona so special as a character.

Newsarama: Greg, as one of the creators of Gargoyles, you've been telling stories with these characters off and on for over 30 years. How does it feel to have been able to revive Gargoyles in comics, and to have now dug so deep into the characters and their world?

Greg Weisman: I love it. I love having the Gargoyles characters back in my life on a semi-full-time basis. But I'm greedy. I want to tell even more stories in this world with these ch♚aracters!

Gargoyles is a franchise full of great characters, but Demona has always been special, even beyond her place in Gargoyles. What do you see as the things that make her so compelling as both a villain and a protagonist?

Demona has legitimate gripes. But she's also her own worst enemy. Her psychology is complex, so it can carry real emotional heft, which is a great thing for a storyteller. Plus she's powerful and vulnerable. Ruthless, fanatical and occasionally charming. I 𝓀think she was fairly unique as a villain in the '90s, and I thin♍k she's still fairly unprecedented even today.

Demona's new limited series digs into her past across the years the other Gargoyles were slumbering up till the era of the current continuity. How much of this backstory has been in place behind the scenes prior to this, and how much of this is you taking what we know and running with it?

Well, to be clear, we're not even attempting to cover the entire millennium of her life in just one five-issue mini-series. But we are planning to cover five snapshots of her life across the first couple centuries of that millennium. All of this fits into the master plan that I've been building for the last thirty-plus years of my life, but many of the details are things 𒉰that Frank and I have worked out as we've been plotting these issues.

I have to ask about Demona's big secret - her other daughter besides Angela. What can you tell us about her?

Angela is Demona's biological daughter, who was raised by humans. Angelika is not Demona's biological daughter, but they raised each other for nearly two hundred years. I think it should be interesting f🥃or the audience to view the contrasts between Demona and Angelika, and between Angelika and Angela.

Hudson talking to Angelika

You're working with Frank Paur on Gargoyles: Demona, who was also a producer on the original Gargoyles show. What's it been like reuniting with Frank, and what does working with him allow you to do as a writer?

It's been so great working with Frank. No one else has the same understanding, the same shorthand that he and I have together when it comes to Gargoyles. Plus, Frank's pencils and inks on the book are just gorgeous. And he and I are both loving the ཧcoloring that Robby Bevard is doing on the book. Robby was the colorist for much of the old SLG run. So it's all a bit like getting the band back together for me.

As someone who's been a fan since childhood, I've always wanted more stories that dig into Demona's secret years. What do you hope fans new and old will take away from this comic?

Pain. Ecstasy. Mystery. History. Mythology. A little Shakespeare. You know... standard Gargoyles terrain. Which will be dug up in a fresh new way, with our single most dangerous character headlining. Established characters will resurface. New characters will be introduced. Each issue tells a story in a different pulp genre, with its own stakes, environments and mood. I'm hoping readers n♍ew and old take away something they couldn't put down or put away even after the final page.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Warner Bros. has removed all its original Looney Tunes animated sho🌟rts from its streaming service Max. The shoܫrts ran during an almost 40-year period, between 1930 and 1969.

This is part of the streamer's new plan to prioritize adult and family programming, as children's entertainment doesn't dri𒅌ve as much viewership.

That doesn't mean everything Looney Tunes-related has gone from the streamer, though, as there are some more recent iterations of the franchise 🍰still available to watch (but even with these spin-offs, there's not a complete catalog).

These include six seasons of 2020’s Looney Tunes Cartoons, two seasons of 2015’s New Looney Tunes, two seasons of 2002’s Baby Looney Tune☂s, two seasons of 2023’s Tiny Toons Looniversity, five seasons of 1995’s Th𒉰e Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, and two seasons of 2022’s Bugs Bunny Builders.

The removal of the original shorts comes just over a year after Warner Bros. scrapped courtroom comedy movie Coyote vs. Acme, despite the fact that production was fully co🐬mplete. The film was set to see Wile E. Coyote take Acme Corporation to court after every product he orders from them backfires on him in his vendetta against the Road Runner. A down-on-his-luck human attorney (Will Forte) takes on the case, who in turn discovers that his intimidating former boss (John Cena) is now Acme's CEO – so he's even more determined to win it.

"My thoughts were that it’s fucking bullshit," 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Forte recently said about the fil🉐m getting shelved. "It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better 🌺than it got. I can’t tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it. But it makes my blood boil."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Invincible creator Rober💛t Kirkman has teased more of what to expect after season 3's hellbound post-credits scene – and it's bringing in material that was ultimately left 𓆏out of the comics.

In the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Invincible season 3 ending, the Hellboy parody Damien Darkb🐠lood (Clancy Brown) is plotting away in Hell.

Last we saw him – way back in the first season – he was banished by Cecil (Walton Goggins) after cracking the Guardians of the Globe mystery. Now, he ha💛s summoned a demonic lord (played by Bruce Campbell) and plots to conjure a "surface dweller of 🌞great power" and use him to bring his master back to his rightful place on the 'infernal throne' of Hell.

As comic readers may know, however, th𒅌is is a major deviation from Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley's source material.

Speaking to , Kirkman explains that he "always wanted to figure out" how to get Darkblood back into the show. His plan? To use a scrapped storyline that never made its way into the pa🌼ges and panels of the Image Comics🔜 series.

"There’s a storyline from the comi🌺c that I never got around to doing. Every superhero story hꦗas some chapter where they go to hell and they fight the devil. It happens in DC and Marvel comics. It’s a big deal," Kirkman explains.

"I never got around to doing anything like that in Invincible. I kept getting sidetracked and th💯ere was never a good time. So it’s entirely possible that we may be doing something like that in the show, and that scene at the end of that episode is setting that up."

While Kirkman was reluctant to offer more, he did inadvertently let slip a detail about Bruce C𓄧ampbell's hellbound character – and he could be Old Scratch himself.

"Could be the devil. Could be. We’ll just have to see," ཧKirkman teased. "Maybe I✅ shouldn’t have spoiled that."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> The spirit of the early 2000s is alive and well in the new 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Devil May Cry trailer for Netflix’s upcomingౠ show. Prꦗotagonist Dante gets an appropriately brash intro, while nu metal superstars Papa Roach provide the soundtrack.

The footage opens with the introduction of Dante as a "top-level threat," before the demon-hunting hero quips he "works better with music" and sticks something on the jukebox. Then a montage of catacly💜smic events kicks off, led by White Rabbit, a relatively obscure villain from the franchise servin♓g as one of main baddies here.

We get multiple clips of both White Rabbit and Dante carving and blasting through enemies, hinting at an eventual clash that should be a mighty fireworks display. Ebon🃏y and Ivory, Dante’s signature guns, g✱et plenty of screentime, his blade Rebellion only getting a look in towards the end.

The closing shot brings in a familiar face for anyone who knows the video games: Vergil, Dante’s estranged brother and a recurring thorn in his side. This is a surprising inclusion, since Vergil would’ve made such an easy surprise twist, but perhaps what’s ဣin store will be even more gob-smacking.

This is another production from Adi Shankar, the creative mastermind behind Castlevania, Captain Laserhawk and more for Netflix. Each hails from a different games studio, 🉐Devil May Cry coming from Capcom while Castlevania is owned by Konami and Captain Laserhawk is an amalgamation of Ubisoft properties. An anime show based o☂n Devil May Cry was produced back in 2007, from Madhouse, the company behind Death Note, Cardcaptors and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. It was short-lived, at just one season, so here's hoping this project lasts longer.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Just as The Simpsons and South Park continue to march forth, so too does Family Guy. The animated stalwart has reached season 23, now so old it has a wealth of in-jokes and references to draw from. One particularly deep cut happened in episode 4 of the curꦕrent season, where a character unseen for 11 years finally came back.

The episode, 'Lois C.K.,' centers on Lois becoming a comedian. Durinꩵg one of her sets, a crowd-member stands out among the positive reception, clapping and laughing along. He's a recurring background gag, simply known as the Fat Laugﷺhing Clapping Guy, who’s made extremely sporadic appearances over the direction of the TV series.

Fat Laughing Clapping Guy in Family Guy season 23

His first recorded occurrence was back in season 5, where he showed up in episode 6. He did so again the same season, in episodes 1🍸0 and 23. He had similar regularity in seasons 6 and 7, making surprise appearances to, ❀well, laugh and clap.

Then he gradually 🐎disappeared, being drawn into scene🐠s in season 8 and 13 without his usual boisterous nature. He's been absent ever since, relegated to the vault of Family Guy obscurity, the fodder of aficionados and quiz questions on the minutiae of television in the 2000s and 2010s.

Until now, that is. The Fat Laughing Clapping Guy is back where he belongs, jovially providing applause with his signature guffaw to the occasional scene involving the Griffins in some capac𒅌ity or another. This season was part of Family Guy's 25th anniversary, perhaps adding to why such a deep-cut got aired out.

Maybe Seth MacFarlane missed him, or maybe someone in the writers room wanted someone in the crowd to add a little heft to the scene, creating the perfect time for this man’s resurgence. Whichever it is, we have one request: Don't make it another 11 years. Peruse our list of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:new TV shows for more obscure legends in the making.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Pokemon Legends: Z-A still has plenty of mysteries left to it, but the recent extended look at the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:upcoming Switch game during the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Pokemon Presents 2025 showcase also revealed a bunch of reasons to get excited about the title ahead of its release in 2025. Details on Lumiose City's "urban redevelopment plan," the returning starter Pokemon – Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile – and Mega Evolution are all well and good. But what truly has me ready to play right now is that it would appear that Pokemon Le𝔍gends: Z-A is finally cashing the check written by the '90s anime's combat.

Essentially, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is adding real-time combat with positioning. What moves you're using, when, and where your opponent is and what they're doing actually come into consideration in the new Pokemon game. While that might sound pretty bog-standard for modern video games, it's a massive departure for Pokemon as a game with its, at least his♉torically, turn-based battles. Every major Pokemon game has, by and large, been about standing in one spot and slapping your opponent with moves over the course of several turns.

Meowth, that's right

Pokemon Legends Z-A screenshot

If you're an old man like me, or maybe just old in general, you might recall that the Pokemon anime ser🥀ies isn't… exactly like this. Pretty much from the start, Ash and Pikachu were dodging, dipping, ducking, diving, and dodging pretty much out of the gate. Mechanically, the games have always allowed evasion where a move might miss, but there was never a responsive element in the way that the anime might often use.

In the games, an enemy Horsea ൩using Water Gun doesn't allow me to carefully and tactically respond with Thunderbolt to take advantage of the water even if Ash (may he rest in peace) might have Pikachu 🀅respond with Iron Tail to bat away certain attacks. The two fighting styles were entirely distinct, and if you both watched the anime and played the games, the difference was (and is) pretty stark.

While not specifically referencing the anime series, the does make a point to call out that the combat is a series first. "In previous titles in the Pokémon video game series, Pokémon took action once per ไturn," the description reads. "In Pokémon Legends: Z‑A, Trainers and their Pokémon will move around in real time during battles, and Pokémon will unleash their moves when their Trainers command them to."

You don't need to take my word for it. Or even the Pokemon website's word for it. You can see this real-time combat in action in the latest Pokemon Legends🌳: Z-A trailer for yourself. And given there's still several months ahead of its release later t✨his year, it seems fair to speculate that we've only seen the tip of the Bergmite, so to speak, thus far.

Admittedly, this is all in anticipation of a system that might not be as robust as I'd like. I'm excited about a couple bits of gameplay footage from a much larger game, and who knows whether what we've seen and been told is actually representative of the fꦅinal Pokemon Legends: Z-A experience. It wouldn't be the first time a new Pokemon got me excited only to let me down.

But maybe Pokemon Legends: Z-A really does pull it off. Real-time combat, even aside from the anime of it all, is a huge change of pace that might make combat feel truly im꧂pactful. All signs point to the Legends series being a place where Game Freak is willing to experiment a little bit and push the boundari💙es. Pokemon Legends: Arceus has a laundry list of differences compared to, say, Pokemon Sword and Shield. And as someone that grew up with both the Pokemon games and the Pokemon anime, it seems perfectly reasonable to hope that the two finally perfectly dovetail decades later.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Over two years after 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:teasing his involvement in the Invincible seಌries, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has arrived – and he's voicing a vill𒁏ain that everyone hoped he would play.

Fittingly, the Negan actor picked the worst possible time to show up. Fresh from stopping the I✤nvincible War as an entire multiverse's worth of Marks flooded into his world, Invincible (Steven Yeun) is exhausted and desperately trying to help rebuild major cities.

Enter Conquest. "Stand ready for my arrival, worm," the Viltrumite snaps at Mark. "You were given orders. You were given time. You were given more leeway than most and, yet༒, I find this planet unprepared for the arrival of our Viltrum Empire."

Conquest in Invincible season 3

Mark, though, isn't in the mood. "This isn't a good time," he replies. Conquest explains that's why he's here – because they "anticipated" his re♋sistance, and why they sent him to deal with the matter.

So, who is Conquest? That would be ♕telling, but (if it follows the comics) he's an immensely powerful figure that has a huge bearing on Mark's future as a hero. His power level also matches th♕at of Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), meaning that Invincible is in for the fight of his life as the two collide at the end of Invincible season 3's penultimate episode.

The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Invincible season 3 finale synopsis was even released earlier this year, teasing the arrival of Conquest. It reads: "W𒆙ith the world still reeling, a dangerous stranger arrives – testing Mark to his limits and beyond."

Of course, The Walking Dead fans will be all too aware of what happened the last time characters played by🎃 Jeffrey Dean M🎐organ and Steven Yeun faced down on screen.

In T༒he Walking Dead season 6's finale, 🎃Negan strode onto the scene and brutally killed several members of Rick's group thanks to his trusty barbed wire bat Lucille – including Glenn (Steven Yeun).

Let's just hope Steven Yeun's character gets away with his face still int♉act this time.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Binged all of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Your Fr🀅iendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and already desperate for more? Well, you might not have to wait very long for new episodes, Marvel's s🦂treaming boss Brad Winderbaum has hinte꧅d.

Featuring the voice talents of Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Charlie Cox as Daredevil, and Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn, the show sees Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) getting to grips with being a web-slinging do-gooder. Non-canon to the MCU, it's set in an alternate timeline where Osborn becomes Peter's mentor instead of Tony Stark. 澳🐽洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询🔴:Gwen Stacy is set to appear in the next chapter.

"We will have a Spider-Man season every year if I have anything to say about it," the executive producer told during the promotion of live-action MCU outing 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Daredevil: Born Again. "What usually happens, as you know𒀰, in animatio𝔉n, is that there's a bigger gap between season 1 and season 2 than in subsequent seasons, and that'll be similar [with] Friendly.

"We will have to wait a little bit more than a year for season 2," he went on, candidly telling fans toꦡ expect it sometime in late 2026. "But then after that, it should come out𝓡 on an annual cadence, hopefully."

Considering it took four years to make season 1, Winderbaum's hop☂es may seem a little ambitious, though showrunner Jeff Trammell shared similar sentiments during a recent SCAD TVFest. What's perhaps most interesting is that Winderbaum's comments seem to hint at Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man running far beyond the currently confirmed three seasons.

"I came in with, 'I can tell four seasons of this easily.' Now that's evolved to however long they want to do it," Tramell previously . "I𝓡'm ready to keep doing it. I love this world that we've built, and there a🐻re so many pieces that we haven't even introduced yet that I'm excited to get to.

"I think it's cool to come up with a plan but also know that they're going to throw things that are like, 'We're going to pivot here. Let's do this,' or, 'Don't use this character,' or, 'Let's use this character'," he continued. "So, just being flexible in wanting to tel🤪l those stories is a big thing, t♚oo."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> All episodes of Po🐻kemon Concierge are now streaming for free for the next two weeks,🗹 so now is the perfect time to catch up on one of the sweetest shows on Netflix.

All four episodes of the animated stop-motion show are currently available to watch on the official until March 9. Tꦜhe Pokemon Twitter account also conඣfirmed that new episodes are still in production, despite the wait – new episodes were first confirmed a year ago, back in February 2024.

The show, which debu🀅ted in December 2023, marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Pokemon and follows Haru (voiced in the English dub by The Boys star Karen Fukuhara), who goes to work at a resort where Pokemon go to relax. Per the official synopsis, "as Haru figures out how to make her guests happy, she ends up discovering a new side to herself." It was a hit with critics, and has a perfect score of 1𝔉00% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Haru is a new character♌ in the Pokemon universe, but the series also included plenty of familiar faces, including Psyduck, Pikachu, Eevee, Dragonite, and Magikarp. Each episode released so far, directed by Iku Ogawa, clocks in at between 15 and 20 minutes, so it's perfect for binge-watching. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Shaun Rivera, the director of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:League of Legends spin-off 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:2XKO, has cleared up s🎀ome confusion around Riot's plans for the 2v2🌠 fighting game in a new tweet.

"We’ve seen and enjoyed the crazy memes and the hysteria of the subreddit while waiting for the Feb update, anಞd♈ wanna correct some of the misinformation going around," he writes.

Rather than sticking to the original plan of running a "larger-scale global playtest" in March, there 𓂃will be a "much smaller one." This is so that the team can work on the game itself and ensure that more of you can play it later this🌺 year.

The autocombo system in 2XKO is also being reworked. Pulse Fuse is an ability you can select at the start of a match and works similarly to Tekken 8's beginner-friendly control scheme where basic cꦉombos can be activated with shorter button sequences, but doesn't really allow for the full moveset of a characte𒉰r to be utilized. Now, "Pulse is removed and replaced with an autocombo setting that each player can toggle on or off during champ select." This means you'll be able to use a different Fuse but newbies can still get the benefits of Pulse.

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Tekken 8 was my fi๊rst fighting game and I enjoyed the beginner setting, but quickly realized its shortcomings. That could be toggled 🅘on and off at will, so I think this is a good change for 2XKO, even though it can only be toggled during character selection.

Replacing Pulse is a new Fuse called Sidekick. If you choose it, "your point and assist never switch. Instead, your assist c🧸hamp stays sidelined to support yo🧜ur point champ, who gains additional health."

This Is a result of feedback from those of you who wanted to play more of a supporting role in the fights so that you can learn the game at your own pace rather than fighting for your life on the frontli▨nes.

As for any other "cool stuff" you may have seen the team "cooking", Rivera🔯 says "we are not quite ready to talk about that just yet."

While you wait for the full launch of 2XKO, here are some of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best fighting games you can play right now.

Now, i♋t seems like it will follow in the footsteps of season 1 and get a physical release too, making it available outside ofജ the streaming platform.

The news was confirmed by , who wrote: "GKIDS is proud to announce the acquisition of global home entertain🍃ment rights to #Arcane Season 2! A full product array, including 4K UHD, will be out later this year." No release date has been announced yet, but fans can sign up for updates on the website to be kept informed.

GKIDS were also behind a physical release of Arcane season 1, which contained three hours of bonus features. It seems likely that season 2 will foll💮ow suit and contain some e⭕xtra goodies for fans of the beloved animated show.

Netflix doesn't release all of its shows and movies on physical release, but some of the biggest titles have made it there. Stranger Things and Wednesday have had DVD releases, as well as award🦋-winners like Marriage Story and Roma. In an age when streaming platforms have been known to remove shows and movies at short notice, it's great something like Arcane avoiding such a fate.

Arcane came to an end with its second season, but conversations are ongoing about potential spin-offs. Avatar creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are helming the new Nickelodeon A꧑nimation series, which is currently in production.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> For anyone that doesn't have to personally experience it, the labyrinthine nightmare that is the American healthcare industry is difficult to describe. In part because of the aforementioned complexity, and in part because it just… really feels like nothing should exist in the way that it does. The new animated show Common Side Effects, created by Joe Bennett and Steve Hely, explores this dichotomy while also asking: what happens🐈 when one singular person attempts to change all of that?

Enter Marshall, an eccentric and (one might argue) genius that's dis♐covered a mushroom that can heal basically everything. The problem is that everyone else – DEA agents, pharmaceutical companies, global conglomerates, and even rival scientists – seem to be invested in him not actually sharing that discovery with the world.

Common cause

"Like everybody in the world,ღ or at least the United States, we've had encounters with the healthcare system and insurance," says Hely when asked by GamesRadar+ about the genesis of the series, "and it's like going up against a gigantic sci-fi tentacle monster that's hard to deal with and hard to get to the humanity of, but even that system is made up of people that are motivated by their little problems and struggles."

"Little problems" here might be relative given that Marshall and Frances, an old high school lab partner he runs into who ends up helping out, that just so happens to be the assistant to a big pharma CEO, also have to dealꦚ with a goodly amount of trained killers that aren't afraid to maim and murder. If you've seen Scavengers Reign, which Bennett also co-created, start at that level and tone it down just a couple of pegs and you'll have a good idea of the amount of body horror and gore to expect.

It's not all horrible and dark, mind. Commo𓆉n Side Effects can often be extremely funny, sometimes while also being horribly dark but not always. The DEA agents like to lip sync and dance, a pharma CEO referred to as "the devil's idiot butler" obsessed with an exploitative mobile game, Marshall is often paranoid for good reason but sometimes he can freak out over nothing to comedic effect, and there's a shot that lingers on a man p🥃laying a fishing game in VR that very much does not look like he's playing a fishing game in VR.

"Even the people that are like masters of♑ the universe are often like goofballs," says Hely, "and they have to eat and shit the way everybody else does, and they often have strange little quirks and bizarre interests. From the President on down, you're seeing people who are just odd, weird, sometimes funny, som💦etimes a little scary, but human, and we try to put that into all of our characters."

But even beyond the creators' control, there's an inherent darkness to this all thanks to the simple fact that . Common Side Effects, which again deals with the healthcare industry and all of its inherent evils🅘, s♎tarted airing on February 2, 2025.

"They did move around the show a little bit," says Hely when asked if there was a possibility the whole thing got canned in the wake of Thompson's death, "and there was a press release that was going to come out on the day of the shooting [...] and so they actually pu🍰shed the press release, but that led it to go to a week later, when it was in the news again because they'd arrested the a꧟lleged shooter."

"It definitely seems like we're plugged into some themes, and we're hitting a nerve, and tying into an electrical streak in the culture," continues Hely. "But I think that just came out of us being interested in things that are bothering a lot o♓f people, and questions that ꦰa lot of people have about how we have this weird healthcare system, why we spend so much money on it, and yet we seem to be sicker than ever. What the possibilities are to find a healthier way to live. All that is stuff a lot of people are thinking about."

"In addition to that, I would say that we've been working on this project for five to six years," adds Bennett, "and I would say that just making adult animation and trying to make a serialized sto✱ry always fee🌠ls like a risk, and so there's always concern that we're going to get canned for that reason alone."

"Credit to Adul𒁃t Swim for taking a chance on something that's a little electric," Hely concludes.

Common Side Effects airs on Adult Swim every Sunday with episodes streaming on Max the following Monday. If you're already watching, there's probably another show you'd like in our ranking of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best shows to watch on Max𝕴 right now.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Invincible season 3 is bigger, better, faster, stronger. But don't take my word for it. The new season of the animated Prime Video series tells us this immediately with a lightning-quick training montage as Mark, fresh off the twin shocks of Angstrom Levy's death and Anissa's sudden arrival on Earth, sets about becoming the best version of himself. The mission state✨ment, then, is clear from the outset: this isn't a year creator Robert Kirkman and company want to waste.

But it's Mark's bloodsplattered disposal🏅 of his nemesis, not any Viltrumite threat, that sets in motion a terse, paranoid season that sees Invincible's situation souring quickly on some fronts. As friends rapidly turn into foes, he becomes💦 more erratic and aggressive.

Fast Facts

Release date: February 6
Available on: Prime Video
Showrunner: Simon Racioppa
Episodes: 8 (6 given for review)

Unlike other Amazon superhero series The Boys, it's immediately noticeable that Invincible doesn't pull any punches this year with shaking up the status quo. Case in point: Mark (Steven Yeun) frequently butts heads with Global Defense Agency director Cecil (Walton Goggins) as their warring philo💞sophies threaten to tear apart more than just a frosty working relationship, while the season's underlying theme – metamorphosis – is only further pushed forward by the exponential growth of new half-brother Oliver.

"You can be the good guy or the guy who saves the world. You can't be both," Cecil spits during the show's ele☂ctric opening three episodes (a towering tone-setter, wisely batched together for release this week on Prime Video).

It's not an🌌 especially new thread for superhero stories to pull on, but it's helped immensely here by two things: Mark ditching the yellow costume and entering his blue suit era (comic fans know only too well what a portent of doom t🙈hat is) and a far more distinct, refined approach to its storytelling.

Power play

Invincible season 3

This season, every single episode either comes bundled with a great villain-of-the-week that meaning🎃fully progresses Mark's arc or involves a killer high concept hook. They include dealing with Powerplex (Aaron Paul, whose presence only swells 🔯Invincible's roster of incredible talent), a new figure who holds a personal vendetta against Invincible. There's even development to be found as Mark battles against the power vacuum left behind by Machinehead in Chicago, the sort of scenario that would often feel isolated and skippable in previous seasons.

Everything here is in service of Mark's struggles – and occasional failures – in juggling being a brother, son, and a hero. That's not to say🦄 other supporting characters fade into becoming background noise, but the creative team's decision to rein everything else in slightly so it can properly tell Mark's story is only a net positive for Invincible in season 3.

The show's renewed focus on its main story means that when Invincible does take narrative detours, they feel more impactful – such as the surprisingly powerful and risky dialogue-free cold open charting the rise and fall of two villains, or the standout second episode that delves into Cecil's bac🧸kstory in a frenetic 45 minutes to understand what makes🌸 the shadowy GDA director tick.

The only downside to the scattershot approach is that there are several plotlines that could haveꦏ warranted multiple episodes, with Mark's brief foray away from his usual surroundings into completely uncharted territory – one we aren't at liberty to spoil here – being something that could have been explored further. However, that fast-moving attitude ensures nothing outstays its welcome: Invincible season 3 is all killer and no filler.

Art Attack

Invincible season 3

If the first season was about Mark's first tentative steps as a hero and the second season was about flying as far away from his father's long shadow as possible, season 3 finally digs into the person Mark wants to become – and it's all the better for it. Every interaction with Eve (Gillian Jacobs), The Guardians, and a rogues' gallery filled🦩 with fresh and familiar faces alike carry m💫ore emotional weight because of how increasingly comfortable the show gets in poking away at Mark's flaws.

That fast-moving attitude ensures nothing🐬 outstays its welcome: Invincible season 3🅘 is all killer and no filler

Despite its step up in storytelling, however, there are still some nits to pick when it comes to Invincible. Yes, the animation still doesn't stack up when placed alongside best-in-class examples such as Demon Slayer's furiously-drawn cacophonies of color. But there is a marked improvement this year, with a handful of big set-pieces being evidence e♔nough of a real step up in quality. At some point, viewers will have꧅ to admit defeat on this front: the style is ultimately chained to the comic book aesthetic, even if it's at the expense of allowing its artists to cut loose and treat viewers to a real spectacle.

The main thing that sticks in the craw is the show's continued lack of urgency in some areas. While nothing ruinous, the six episodes we were given for review still features Omni-Man tiptoeing towards an inevitable escape and return to Earth, while Anissa is a surprise non-factor. While understandable given how closely it's following parts of its source material, Invincible failing to capitalize on her devꩵastating debut last season is a slight disappointment.

Invincible season 3, though, is a show operating at the peak of its powers. The✤ rapid pacing, improved animation, and Mark's own development has supercharged the Amazon series beyond even its formidable first two seasons. A full, uninterrupted run of episodes does wonders, too – and ensures whoever was responsible for splitting the second seasons across two calendar years won't be making that same mistake again.

Now, if it can stick the landing in the final two episodes💧 (and hopefully feature Omni-Man finally heading back to Earth), we could be looking at an early contender for one of the year's best shows. Forget leaping buildings in a single bound, the ܫsky is the limit if Invincible continues on this trajectory.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Ever since it was first announced as Spider-Man: Freshman Year in 2021, there have been questions about exactly how (what is now) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man fits into MCU canon. And then late last year, it became apparent that the show had essentially 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:abandoned canon altogether. Bu𒁃t according to showrunner, head writer, and executive producer Jeff Tra﷽mmell, the actual show that made it to the screen has only ever really been part of an alternate timeline from start to finish.

"What's funny is it was kind of only in the main timeline for the initial two months of development," Trammell tells GamesRadar+, "and then it was like, 'Oh, well, this kind of limits us; let's go another route.' So the first episode is essentially the first script I ever wrote for the show. Nothing really changed. So it's not like, 'Oh, this was this, and then we scrapped 🐬it, but we saved this scene,' like it's all from its pretty much inception Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, a𒐪nd that has always kind of been the case."

While the show i🐬sn't what we'd consider canonical to the MCU's "Sacred Timeline," it does feature several direct references and remixes – the same story beats, told slightly differently and featuring slightly different people.

"We always wanted the audience to know, this is the Peter you know from Homecoming," continues Trammell, "but things are different. So I think leaning into that as much as we could of like, 'Yep, you've seen this; you know how this goes, but do you?'

"And that's the throughline of the show: we are givin꧂g you these characters that you know, but we're changing what you know about them to keep them fresh, keep you on your toes, and always kind of keep you guessing."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Marvel's latest animated 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Disney Plus series, has already been renewed for season 3 – even though season 1 hasn't even premiered yet.

"I've now read all the scripts for season 2, we're halfway thr𒐪ough the animatics," Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, said in a new interview with .

"Jeff [Trammell, head writer] is building brick by brick and this show starts to pay off, you feel that in season 1, you grow connected to these characters, so that when everything starts to lock into place and pay off by the end of the season – I don't know about you guys, but I feel it really deeply in my soul. And it just gets dee🌌per and deeper in subsequent seasons. We're greenlit for through season 3, so in a couple weeks I'm going to hear his pitch for the third season."

Hudson Thames voices Peter Parker in t🉐he new series, which follows an alternate 🙈timeline where Norman Osborn (voiced by Colman Domingo) becomes his mentor instead of Tony Stark. The voice cast also includes Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius, while Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio reprise their roles as Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil, and Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin.

"Since this has been trending, here’s a fun fact: 'It insists upon itself' was a criticism my college film history professor used to explain why he didn’t think The Sound of Music was a great film. First-rate ꦺteacher, but I never quite followed that one," MacFarlane explain🥂ed.

Just search "it insists upon itself" on Twitter a🅰nd you'll see how often people use i💫t as a critique of other movies – and now people are debating whether it's a valid critique at all.

"Dude I've seen so many threads of people taking the 'it insists upon its♎elf' joke seriously over the years and I'm lowkey happy as hell MacFarlane has set this shit straight,🥃" . "IT'S NONSENSE"

"I do think 'It insists upon itself' CAN be used as a legitimate criticism," . "The Departed for example, is a movie that genuinely insists upon itse♛lf. Like holy shit I get it the movie is about rats I don’t need you to remind me ever🉐y 5 minutes and have a CGI rat at the end."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> Following Castlevania was never going to be an easy task. Four years on, it's still one of the gre🍨atest video game adaptations of all time — and that remains true in animation or any other form for that matter.

But for the most part, Netflix spin-off Castlevania: Nocturne actually succeeded in channeling the best of the franchise in se🍨ason 1, building on decades of worldbuilding already established in Konami's legendary video game series with bloody action and a devilish grin.

Yet even with its new cast of delightful characters and a welcome change in setting, the first season of Nocturne still never quite soared to the hei🔜ghts of Castlevania at its best.

Whether you blame the departure of controversial writer Warren Ellis, pressure to match the original, or something else entirely, it always felt like there was something missing in the first chapter, as if it 🎀was the younger sibling trying to ♏keep up without fully understanding what made the original so special in the first place.

With the arrival of sea🎐son 2, Castlevania: Nocturne now has the added pressure of living up to that legacy while also building on the new arc established in season 1. Kind of like a certain vampire with a huge legacy of♊ his own who showed up out of nowhere last time in a surprise cliffhanger…

Levelling up

Castlevania: Nocturne season 2

Set 300 years after the end of Castlevania, Richter Belmont and his merry band of vampire hunters continue fighting to stop Erzsebet Báthory in the new season. This 'Vampire Messiah', already on the verge of godhood, is now closer than ever to obtaining the full power of an actual goddess named Sekhmet amidst the French Re𒊎volution circa 1792.

But thankfully, the gang have levelled up too. Having unlocked his gifts at the end of season 1, Richter is now living up to the Belmont name and then some by incorporating control over t꧃he elements into his whip-based brawling. Meanwhile, Annette's mastery over earth and metal continues to grow as she sets out on a quest to obtꦯain more power at the behest of her ancestors who believe she may be the key to defeating the Vampire Messiah.

Eve♑ry fight is packed with the kind of innovation superhero cinema is sorely lacking these days in comparison.

And then there's Maria Renard, a summoner whose ability to conjure dark entities takes on a frightening new dimension (literally) in season 2, compounded by the loss of her mother to vampiric forces. Her storyline especially is a highlight this season. When Maria stares into the abyss, it stares back at her with eyes she can control, or at least try to, depending on her mental state. The corrupting nature of this unknown gift, which calls upon 💞energies other gifted magic-users don't understand, plays out separately to the main narrative, but this is where the show excels most.

Between Tera's struggle as a newly-fledged vampire and how this is echoed through Mariജa's own descent into darkness, the Renard mother-daughter dynamic is a highlight that speaks to the thematic backbone of the original Castlevania where Alucard wrestled with his half-human, half-vampire lineage.

A backwards Dracula

Castlevania: Nocturne season 2

Ah yes, Alucard, the son of Dracula, who barreled into the fray at the very end of Nocturne season 1 with all the force of blood bursting out of a severed artery. Despite the two shows sharing a universe together, and despite the fact that Alucard is immortal and so could theoretically appear in sequels until the end of time, his arrival wꦿas nonetheless shocking in the best way possible, bridging the universe established in Castlevania with this new roster in an ambitious bout of expansive world-bu꧒ilding.

This franchise often knows exactly what its fans want at the right moment, be it a perfectly-placed Easter egg or a perfectly timed bout of choreography, and Nocturne is no exception, opening with a solo Alucard fight that reminds us why viewers would line up for a bite 𝓀from his truly.

From that point on though, the show wisely moves him to the side, being ever present with his condescending quips without drawing too much attention away from the central characters and their story. Because it is their sꦏtory now, Alucard had his time, and making him the star again would risk diminishing returns while doing a disservice to what Nocturne has already established.

That's not to say Alucard has just been included for the sake of it. In the show's 🏅quieter moments, his past, including events we have and have not seen, play into conversations with the new, younger cast, be it through advice on evil dads and the🐼 transformative power of love or what it means to live forever (especially when the Belmont bloodline is also around forever to bother you still).

FAST FACTS

Release date: January 16

Available on: Netflix

Showrunners: Kevin Kolde and Clive Bradley

Episodes seen: 8 out of 8

Some of the banter between Alucard and Richter is reminiscent of the old days with Trevor Belmont, Richter's great, great, great, great-something-grandad, although the dialogue can feel a bit forced on occasion, especially compared to how easily it used to flow in the original show. Some of the voice actors﷽ fare better than others with the material, but James Callis remains the perfect Alucard, concerned yet aloof, while Pixie Davies captures that inꦫnocence Maria fights to retain staring so much into the void.

What does continue to𝔍 flow well though is the action. Every fight, every moment in fact, is packed with the kind of innovation superhero cinema is sorely lacking these days in comparison. The team behind Marvel's Blade would do well to begin their research here, assuming the film ever comes out, because it's hard to find more thrilling battles than the ones regularly peppered throughout Nocturne.

There are grand, jaw-dropping sequences that will have you jumping out of your seat in disbelief, including a level-up for Maria that's reminiscent of Game꧟s of Thrones, but there's just as much wow factor in the little moments too, whether it's Richter steadying himself with iced-up꧃ knuckles, Maria's hair moving like Sailor Moon's as she seeks vengeance, or even just Tera using melting ice to shield her vampire form from the sun overhead.

Lacks bite

Castlevania: Nocturne season 2

No punches are pulled, especially in one long fight that stretches over the final two episodes, so it's a shame that th♓e villain at the heart of this 🅘conflict lacks punch. That's true of both villains in fact because neither Erzsebet Báthory nor Drolta Tzuentes are particularly engaging this time around. And I say that as a huge fan of the latter in season 1. Compared to the vicious Council of Sisters from Castlevania, and the deliciously evil Carmilla especially, these new Big Bads are big in the power stakes, but are kind of bad, or at least a bit dull, when it comes to the charisma you'd expect from a world chock-full of likeable monsters.

Olrox, the old Aztec vampire in love with a Christian soldier, helps balance this out with his ꦕmuch welcomed return in season 2 although even his story is a bit underdeveloped. Edouard is also under-used now that he's kept almost entirely separate from the rest of the gang, except when he's trotted out to sing his gorgeous opera notes that further e💛mphasize the contrast between his now-horrific demon visage and the beauty that can still be found at times in this cruel, bleak world.

Bleak, yet stunningly so, the carefully rendered locations expand from rural France to the streets of Paris, inside the Louvre and even Ancient Egypt in season 2, not toಞ mention other spirit realms that only Annette can see. The animation is dazzling at points, as is the love story that sits at its center, although the chemistry between Annette and Richter lacks some heart compared to the emotive beats of other arcs like Maria's.

ꦍI won't spoil how all these threads tie together by the end of the season, but just know that it doesn't end on quite such an abrupt cliffhanger as the first chapter did. If this is the end of Nocturne, it's a decent one that ultimately does the franchise proud, even if it🍒 doesn't quite match the dizzying, blood-curdling heights of Castlevania's flagship show.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> According to a new report, Arcane recouped less than half 😼of its budget from payments to air its 18 episodes, but a Riot co-found﷽er says the show is about more than just money.

's report claims Arcane was a "financial miss" and Riot "didn’t have a robust plan to recoup the cost of the show before it launched." Executive producer Paul Bellezza tells Bloomberg the show cost $250 to produce and market, but 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:that figure has been disputed.

The report states Netflix paid $3 million per episode, and Tencent also paid $3 million for distribution rights to the show in China. This would meanᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ the show only directly made $108 million, less than half the contested budget.

Riot co-founder Marc Merrill took to to defend the show, writing: "People who look at the world through a short term, transactional, cynical lens, really struggle to understand Riot [...] These people think we make things like A🎃rcane to sell skins, when in reality we sell skins to make things like Arcane."

The showrunners have frequently talked up the artistry of the show, and how proud they were to be able to give those working on it the time to make it something great. Considering all the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:hidden details in Arcane, I'd say it was money well spent.

"Riot is a mission driven company where Rioters are constan💛tly striving to make it better to be a player," Merill continues. "That is why we have successfully done that over and over again across multiple games and now multiple businesses / mediums - games, sports, music & animation. Do we get everything right? Nope. But we are not focused on the short term extraction of profits - we are focused on delivering exceptional value to our audience over the lonไg term, again and again and again."

The writers of Arcane took some liberties with the game's lore to make their story work better for the TV, but our own League of Legends fans simply don't mind, the show is just that good. What works in one me🌠dium doesn't always work in another, and🍷 bending the rules to make a better piece of art.

"To be clear, Arcane crushed for players and so it crushed for us," M💮erill writes.

Arcane was a massive success by all fan and critic measures. 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Our review calls it "One of the greatest video game adaptations of all time." The hit-animated show ran for two seasons and I saw tons of people online saying they were going to try 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:League of Legends, the game it's based on. They&a🐻pos;re in for a r🌸eal shock.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> With Arcane's second and final season out in the world, one writer has already started thinking about 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:League of Legends' next story and♈ has a particular region she'd like to take a closer look at.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Arcane writer Amanda Overton speaks about potential future plans for the series and her particular interest in the region of Ionia. "I'm really excited for looking at Ionia," she begins, "because I think they have a much more Eastern-centred narrative storytelling and visuals, that is something completely di𓄧fferent from what A﷽rcane did in Season 1."

Part of her desire to shift the focus to a new region is to keep things fresh,ꩲ something that has pushed her away from loﷺoking more closely at Noxus. "With Noxus, we did bring a lot of Noxus into Arcane. So to me, it would be like 'let's do something totally new'."

Ionia is by no means a certainty, however, as Oᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚverton is clearly enamoured with champions from all corners of the world. "There's just so many great champions to dig into. There are so many rich areas there. I hope that they get to see what a matriarchy looks like, because I don't think we've seen that on TV before - up in the Freljord, having a matriarchy, I was like 'hell yeah, I've never seen that'."

Indeed, it's the sheer number of potential characters that has truly piqued Overton's interest. "There are so many great little characters, and to me, I'm alwaꩲys looking for ways to tell stories where you can have characters who can find similarities in their differences," she explains. "With so many different types of intelligent life in Runeterra, and so many fun characters, they are all so different that you could find so many great stories with such great conflicts, looking for similarities in the champions' differences."

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ in Animation-shows ]]> 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Secret Level – Deadpool director Tim Miller's animated video game anthology🉐 series – is getting renewed for season two on Amazon's Prime Video streamer.

Its season one premiere on December 10 was momentous to Prime Video, , since the show overshadowed similar recent releases like season three of Critical Role's The Legend of Vox Machina. At the momenꦺt, Secret Level is Prime's biggest new animated series launch. It's perhaps achieved this status by appealing to a wide range of gamers with its 15-ish minute adaptations of disparate games like Armored Core, Pac-Man, and Unreal Tournament, though Secret Level is m꧋ore successful in some of its attempts than in others.

"You'd think, as a nerd, I'm going to understand what al﷽l the other nerds want," Miller . "That's not always the case, but that's the intention."

We found Secret Level to be 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:unbalanced overall, though its best epi𒁃sodes indicate an imꩵpressive, deep-brain understanding of what makes video games fascinating without trying to be one.

"I feel this way about vi൲rtually anything I adapt, which is there's a reason that people love these games, or a story, or a book, or anything else you might adapt," Miller said. "I've talked to writers sometimes, and they'll literally say [that they dislike their source material] out loud. And I'm like, 'Well, why the fuck did you take the job?'"

Secret Level does not yet have a season two release date, though its s🍌econd batch of episodes releases today on Prime.

Secret Level's Pac-Man episode had one big request from developers: "We would like the audiences to wonder, 'What the f*ck did they do to Pac-Man?'"

Purnell plays Lucy in Fallo♔ut and Jinx in Arcane. Both adaptations👍 debuted to stellar reviews and a great reception from fans.

“Here’s the tru𒊎th, and I feel guilty saying this, but I’m not a gamer, and I don’t know how I’ve managed to land tꦦwo video game adaptations that have both been good," Purnell said at MCM x EGX 2024 (via ). "I don’t know how that’s happened, but it has. I don’t know the answer.”

She added: "I actually think I need to stay away from video game adaptations now𓆏, because I’m going to ꩲget typecast. I’m going to be the video game girl. There are worse things to be than that, I suppose."
