Snow White

Disney's latest live action remake is finally streaming. Rachel Zegler plays Snow White, the beautiful princess whose wicked stepmother, played by Gal Gadot, plots her demise. Snow White flees into the woods where sh♓e joins forces with seven friendly dwarfs who help her fight back against the Evil Queen – all while singing a lot of songs.

The original 1937 Snow White And The Seven Dwܫarfs is a truly untouchable classic and there's no getting around the fact that this new take doesn't come close to matching its magical quality. Still, there's a lot to like here, not least a spirited Zegler in the lead role and an archly-camp Gadot as a truly hissable villain. Disney fans won't need any further encouragement to 🔯watch or rewatch it again.

The Buccaneers season 2

The second season of this romantic costume drama takes us back in time to the 1870s to catch up with the "Bu🌳ccaneers" – a group of young American women who find themselves in London looking for husbands. Season one ended on a mostly upbeat note, with Nan (Kristine Froseth) marrying Theo (Guy Remmers) and becoming Duchess of Tintagel. In season two, however, things haven't gone entirely to plan and Nan remains uncertain if Theo really is the man for her. Meanwhile Conchita (Alisha Boe) and Richard (Josh Dylan) have fallen on hard times, while Mabel (Josie Totah) and Honoria🥀 (Mia Threapleton) struggle to make their budding relationship work.

Based on the unfinished novel by Edith Wharton, The꧟ Buccaneers is pretty much Apple TV Plus's answer to Bridgerton, with historical accuracy less of a concern than having fun, looking good, and finding the right needledrop.

Twin Peaks

It is happening again... Yes, you can now stream all of the late💛, great David Lynch's collaboration with screenwriter Mark Frost on Mubi, meaning there's never been a better time to get lost in the mystery surrounding the death of homecoming🌺 queen Laura Palmer. What starts as a simple whodunnit plot, however, is soon revealed to be something far more inexplicable, taking in other dimensions, demonic entities, creamed corn, pine weasels, and a quite shocking number of extramarital affairs.

The original Twin Peaks is part surreal crime drama, part soap opera pastiche. It's 2017 sequel, Twin Peaks: The Return – also streaming here – is darker and somehow even stranger, moving the show into cosmic horror🦂 territory. Twin Peaks is a genuine one-off unlike anything else ever made for TV (despite legions of inferior imitators in the ensuing decades). This is your invitation to drink full and descend.

Echo Valley

This limited series, based on on E. Lockhart’s bestselling YA novel of the same name, looks like gripping. In the show, 17-year-old Cadence Sinclair Eastman (Emily Alyn Lind) returns to Beechw💫ood, an idyllic island off the c🐲oast of Martha's Vineyard determined to find answers as to why she has no memory of the previous summer. None of her friends, family, or first love Gat (Shubham Maheshwari) are talking, so it's up to Cadence to figure things out for herself.

This looks like a faithful adaptation of Lockhart's much-loved novel. Don't expect everything to be tied up neatlꦑy by the end of the eighth episode, however. The showrunners have been open that they're aiming for at 💎least a second season. You can find out if it's worth it when the entire first season drops on June 18.

Brown, and Rita Ora. Late Night with the Devil

There's more than a touch of Ghostwatch about this enormously fun retro horror. David Dastmalchian stars as Jack Delroy, a late-night TV talk show host who holds a spooky Halloween special. One of his guests is parapsychologist Dr June Ross-Mitchell (Laura Gordon) who has brought with her Lilly D'Abo (Ingrid Torelli), a 13𒅌-year-old girl who is apparently possessed by a demon. Not everyone is convinced, however: another of Delroy's guests, Carmichael Haig (Ian Bliss) is determined to prove that D'Abo is a fraud.

A perfectly-realized pastiche of '70s talk shows, Late Nighꦦt with the Devil feels tailor-m༺ade to give the ever-excellent Dastmalchian a leading role that shows off his range. Delroy is funny, charming, but also a little bit sinister even without the apparently demonic happenings around him. This is a whole lot of freaky fun and, by the climax, genuinely scary.

Barbarian

Barbarian is a 2022 horror film that'll make you side-eye every future Airbnb booking you may make. Directed by Zach Cregger, things go south for Tess Marshall (Georgina Campbell) after she discovers ༺that the Airbnb she is staying at for a job interview has not only been double-booked but also holds💎 a sinister past... Barbarian is snappy, packed with action, and more than a few twists, while making references to generational trauma and abuse against women.

Not only do its themes feel super relevant in today's day and age, but Cregger's style makes for a perfect t𝔉hrilling Friday movie choice. It's filmed almost like an old survival horror game as the camera follows Tess through an underground labyrinth. The monster is looming, but will still encourage a few giggles, and the story never overstays its we😼lcome.

The Blair Witch Project

Thankfully, this terrifying found footage folk horror (shot in 1997, not 1994) is a fake – albeit an incredibly convincing one. Part of the reason for that is the way it was shot: filmmakers Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez really did force actors Heather Donahue, Michael Williams, and Joshua Leonard (playing fictionalized versions of themselves) to endure several days schlepping through the woods of Maryland, camping, while being constantly "attacked" by disguised members of the production staff. No wonder the🌌y all seem so stressed out! Eerie and unsettling precisely because of what the video fuzz doesn't quite let you see, The Blair Witch Project remains a benchmark in found footage horror and one of the most frighteni♔ng films ever made.

Heretic

"I am in a fair amount of terror about a series finale," Kripke confessed duꦍring an appearance in the podcast alongside The Night Agent and The Shield's creator Shawn Ryan. The Survivors

The Alto Knights

You get double the De Niro in Barry Levinson's latest gangster thriller. The legendary actor plays both Vito Genౠovese and Frank Costello here – two real life mob bosses whose initial friendship and unlikely alliance eventually soured and became a bitter rivalry. Based on a script by Nicholas Pileggi, who has major credibility when it comes to this sort of thing having written Goodfellas, The Alto Knights is a gripping portrait of the mafia and of a friendship gone very wrong. De Niro is as excellent as you'd expect, even when acting against himself, though there is certainly a slight uncanny valley feeling in those scenes.

The Alto Knights did not perform well w🐷hen it was released in theaters, which is a shame as it's a very solid movie. Perhaps it will find a more welcoming home on streaming. We'll find out for sure when it lands on HBO Max this Friday.

Ginny & Georgia season 3

Rather than take responsibility, however, Venis and the boys decide to use their extreme wealth to further their own ends.

Armstrong's script is as bitterly funny as his work on Succession, with Mountainhead's characters every bit as venal and awful as the Roys. Hilarious and full of righteous fury, it's avaiꦐlable to stream on HBO Max in the US on May 31, and on Now TV in the UK the following day.

Captain America: Brave New World

The fourth ♑Captain America film marks a fresh start for the series. Steve Rogers is gone, and it's fallen on Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson to wield the shield as the new Captain America. Created by Scott Frank, the writer and director of Godless and The Queen's Gambit, this has a fine cast including Kelly Macdonald and Chloe Pirrie, and lo🏅oks like a very promising new crime series.

The Handmaid's Tale season 6

The Brutalist

Hope comes in the form of Guy Pearce's industrialist Har🦩rison Lee Van Buren, who commissions Tóth to design a community center, but their relationship soon starts to disintegrate. A big movie in every sense, The Brutalist is a powerful achievement full of ideas and artistry.

She the People season 1

Tyler Perry is behind this new comedy series about the election of Mississippi's first Black lieutenant governor. Antoinette Dunkerson, played by ༒Terri J. Vaughn, must grapple with a sexist boss, while her family struggle to adapt to life in the public eye.

Perry is not exactly known for his subtle political commentary, and She the People doesn't look like it will focus on the nitty gritty of Antoinette's job, but it does look very funny. It's also a chance for Perry to work with familiar faces from his filmography, including Vaughn (who a🐻ppeared in Daddy's Little Girls) and Jo Marie Payton (Meet the Browns). The synopsis reads, "Spider-Noir is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. Working both as a scary slasher and as a genuinely 🧸pretty witty romantic comedy, Heart Eyes is a whole lot of gory fun. Most importantly, Holt and Gooding have real chemistry together. You start to believe that their budding romance may actually be something they care about, even as they're trying to evade a serial killer.

In season 2, she actually finds some living in the city of New Attica, but it's not long before she realizes that there's more to the city than sh🅷e realized. Designed as a trilogy, the middle chapter o🎶f this coming-of-age adventure looks like a real treat.

Set in 1969, the story follows Hampton Chambers (Oyelowo), a convicted burglar who is released from prison and returns to his home in Chatsworth, Los Angeles. After reuniting with his family, Hampton tries to start over by inventing a self-sharpening power drill, which he names the Bit Magician. However, reads the synopsis, "the unconventional structure of the Chambers family formed in his absence, moments from🦂 his past, run-ins with shady and dangerous figures, and even instances of seeming divine intervention complicate matters."

But what if the people in his neighborhood hid💞e secrets that are even darker than his? Slick, witty, and perhaps just a little bit sexy, this looks fantastic and addictive.

A new Jonꦍ Hamm project is always worth looking out for and this one boasts an impressive supporting cast, including the likes of Olivia Munn, Amanda Peet, Lena Hall and Aimee Carrero. Confiden🔯ce is high with this one – although Your Friends & Neighbors hasn’t released a single episode yet (it starts with a double-bill on April 11) it has already been renewed for a second season.

Black Mirror season 7

And now 🐎for something just a little bit different... Pets is a documenta𓂃ry made by actor Bryce Dallas Howard about, you guessed it, our animal companions. Howard describes the film as being full of "pure innocence and happiness," but it also doesn't shy away from showing some of the more difficult situations that arise from living with animals, from the pain of losing a beloved pet to the more frustrating situations like dogs smashing down doors and rabbits climbing into your toilet!

Is it schmaltzy? Yeah, sure, probably. But Pets also looks deeply heartwarming and funny, the sort of thing to watch when you've had a hard day and need som𒐪ething to remind you of all the joy and kindness in the world. It's available to stream on Disney Plus from April 11.

Lazarus season 1

Anime legend Shinichirō Watanabe, who directed the Cowboy B♊ebop series, returns with this new high-concept and highly anticipated thriller at Max. It's set in a future where a scientist named Dr. Skinner has created a potent new pai𓄧n killer called Hapna – only to reveal that everybody who has taken it will die within three years. The only hope for their salvation lies in finding Skinner within 30 days. Cue the formation of a new task force dedicated to finding Skinner before it's too late and millions die.

Shinichirō Watanabe's artistic pedigree speaks for itself, but this has added creative kudos thanks to the presence of John Wick director Chad Stahelski, who designed the actio🙈n sequences for the series. This 13-episode season will run from April 6 to the end of June.

Pulse season 1

Slightly surprisingly this is Netflix's first ever English-language medical procedural. It comes with impressive credentials too, coming from creator Zoe Robyn and Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse. The series is set in Miami's (fictional) Maguire Hospital and follows Danny Simms, a third-year medical resident played by Willa Fitzgerald🎉. Danny is unexpectedly promoted when the hospital's chief resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended, meaning that the two of them will have to find a way to work together. Adding a fairly serious complication to this is the fact that Simms and Phillips are romantically꧃ entangled.

Mixing gripping medical drama plots with a complex relati💃onship drama and some high stakes twists and turns – a hurricane hits the city at one point – Pulse is fun and addictive stuff. The series has dropped all 10 episodes of its first season, so if you're lookin♓g for a new show to binge, this may be it.

The Addams Family

It's an oldie but a goodie! Barry Sonnenfeld's first Addams Family film from back in 1991 is a twisted but warm-hearted comedy about the creepy and kookie family of monstrous misfits. Based on cartoonist Charles Addams's strip that originally ran in the The New Yorker, and the popular TV ౠshow, Burton's film perfectly balances the tone of spooky thrills and good-natured gags (something the sequel, Addams Family Values, didn't quite nail, by going a little darker), resulting in an enduringly funny movie for everyone whose taste is perhaps a little on the alternative side.

The leads are all brilliantly cast – Christina Ricci is perfect as Wednesday, as is Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester – an🎃d while it's become a bit of a meme, it is true that the late, great Raul Julia as devoted Gomez, and Anjelica Huston as the icily glamorous Morticia Addams are absolutely hashtag couplegoals. The Addams Family is leaving the Netflix UK soon, but it launches ♓in the US on April 9.

The White Lotus season 3

The Studio episode 3 (Apple TV Plus)

"The s﷽cripts, I've gotta say, in typical Boys fashion, I did not see… I never see it coming with this show," Starr said in a rec🌌ent interview with .

Directed by Mimi Cave, Holland is a darkly witty and paranoid thrille🐽r that lands somewhere between Blue Velvet and Don't Worry Darling. We're seeing things through Nancy's perspective here and the film keeps you guessing on the truth about Fred's absences and if they really are the sign of something truly terrible until its final act. Plus, it goes without saying that Kidman is excellent as always.

Transformers One

A Complete Unknown

Timothée Chalamet plays a very different sort of icon to Wonka and Paul Atreides in this compelling biopic of the legendary folk musician, Bob Dylan. A Complete Unknown follows the young Robert Allen Zimmerman from his early days as a cash-strapped singer hitchhiking to meet his hero Woody Guthrie through to hard won commercial success. From there a♚n even bigger battle begins: to achieve the artistic freedom he desires without interference from his fan🥀s and label.

A Complete Unknown is a grea🅰t showcase for Chalamet, one of the world's most bankable stars and yet one who some still underrate. Here he performs many classic Dylan tracks, genuinely singing and playing guitar and harmonica himself. He's supported by a superb supporting cast inclu🌼ding Elle Fanning, Ed Norton, and Monica Barbaro. Although director James Mangold is better known for Logan these days, he also helmed the Jonny Cash biopic Walk The Line. A Complete Unknown is equally evocative in its vision of a different time and place, and of a musical great.

The Bondsman

Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran in this new supernatural series about a bounty hunter with a difference. The difference is that he is dead, having been shot in the back and then had his throat cut for good measure. That'd be enough to put most people down, but Hub has been recruited by the Devil to track down demons on Earth and send them back to Hell with a bullet or chain꧒saw to the head. It's bloody 🌄work, but Hub spies amongst all the violence a shot at pulling his family back together – if the demons don't kill him again, that is.

Hailing from horror studio Blumhouse, The Bondsman looks like good, gruesome fun with a winningly baffled turn from Kevin Bacon who gets to show off both his actioꦆn and come♌dy chops, as well as his singing voice. Not content with just killing demons, Hub is also a country singer, you see. Because why not?

The Studio

Seth Rogen's new comedy series takes us behind the scenes of the movie industry – and it's as cutthroat as you might imagine. Rogen plays Matt Remick, the new head of film production company Continental Studios, as he fights to keep the studio afloat in an ultra-competitive industry that prioritizes bankabilit🗹y over creativity. As he says in the trailer, "I got into all this because I love movies. But now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them..."

Over the course of the series Matt must overcome his doubts while bal🦄ancing both worthwhile artistic endeavours and the money-making projects necessary to keep the lights on at Continental. Along the way he'll encounter a host of celebs, including the likes of Charlize Theron, Martin Scorsese, Zack Snyder, and Zoë Kravitz. New episodes drop on Apple TV Plus each Wednesday, and ꦕif the excellent double-bill pilot is anything to go by, this is going to be a must-watch each week.

MobLand

There's no doubting the cast on this one! Venom star Tom Hardy, former-007 Pierce Brosnan, and the great Helen Mirren all feature in this glitzy, gritty London-set gangster drama about the war between two notorious crime families. Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, a "fixer" hired to protect the Harrigans from thei✤r enemies, a riva﷽l crime faction called the Stevensons. Brosnan is the elder Conrad Harrigan, while House of the Dragon's Paddy Considine plays his son Kevin.

Originally conceived as a spinoff of Showtime's hit crime series Ray Donavan, MobLand has since been reinvented as a standalone series. Perhaps even more exciting than the starry cast is the presence of its executive producer and occasional director, Guy Ritchie, who is set to bring hi🐻s usual blend of sharp dialogue, fights, and car chases to a series that looks like a lot of two-fisted fun.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 1

After an eccentric double-bill that saw Matt Murdock tackle first bank robbers and then serial killer Muse, we're 🐭back to just one episode of the revived Daredevil show this week. As ever, plot details are scarce – Marvel likes to keep its secrets – but with the season now in the first of its final three episodes we can probably expect the m🌟any threads to start weaving together.

Matt is finally back in his Daredevil gear just as Wilson Fisk starts to tighten his grip on the city, with a new anti-vigilante task force threatening everything. Plus Muse is still out there and must be ༺stopped. Can Marvel's Man Without Fear save the day? It seems likely given that season 2 of the show is currently filming, but after that shocking first episode a couple of weeks back, perhaps a better question is: will any of his friends make it out of the next few episodes alive?
