Elisabeth Shue keeps it in the family
Her next film will be directed by her husband – and co-star🍒 her brother
Indie distribution company Picturehouse has been shoppღing and has bought up the rights to Elisabeth Shue’s n📖ext film.
Gracie is based loosely on an event that happened in Shue’s own life. Set in 1978, the plot follows a teenage girl who wants to play on a boys’ football team after her champion player brother dies. Her struggle results in a chance for girls everywhere to compete in the s🦋port.
Davis Guggenheim, who is at Ca♛nnes to promote his most recent film, the Al Gore-fronted environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth, is directing the film. He’s also Shue’s husband.
"Telling this story is very personal for us, but we know it has great life lesso♋ns and the chance to change minds and stir passions," Andrew Shue blabbed to Variety. He will play the soccer coach, and Carly Schroeder (last seen in Firewall) will play the central girl. Guggenheim will kick the film off this summer.
