Dreamfall Chapters announced with new studio, same designer
Ragnar Tørnquist plans Kickstarter for project𝓡 in near future
Tørnquist isn't leaving Funcom, however. He'll retain his advisory role as The Secret Wor❀ld's creative director while his new studio, Red Thread Games, ramps up production on Dreamfall Chapters. Tørnquist sa💜id Chapters will not be an online game but a "single-player PC/Mac adventure game through and through" on his (the series began on PC with 1999's The Longest Journey).
Funcom has licensed the intellectual property to Red Thread in exchange for some of the game's revenue, though the studio is independently funding production. Tørnquiಞst told he plans to begin a Kickstarter for the project in addition to a $175,000 preproduction grant from the Norwegian Film Institute.
"Ever since we ended Dreamfall on a nail-biting cliffhanger, players have been rightfully demanding a sequel, and my deal with Funcom will finally make that possible," Tørnquist said in Funcom's statement. "I'm extremely grateful to Funcom for this unique and exciting opportunity, and I can't wait to d🍨ive back into the universe I helped create more than a decade ago, and continue the story players have been waiting for these past six years."

I got a BA in journalism from Central 🌃Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video g🔯ames by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
