Channing Tatum hints at standalone Gambit movie

Channing Tatum has been discussing his forthcoming appearance as Cajun X-Man, Gambit, hinting at when we might first see the character make his bow.

It had previously been understood that Gambit would appear in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse , but Tatum has raised the possibility of a solo movie to relaunch the character in style.

"We’ve talked about it being a standalone, first," says Tatum, "and actually trying to change the ‘hero, superhero movie.’ Because Gambit is not your typical hero."

"He’s a thief," he continues. "He walks on the grey. I’m hoping we can change it a little bit, and then ultimately feather into the other ones."

Ultimately, this is just speculation at present๊, with Tatum conceding, "obviously, there&rsquo𓃲;s nothing written… there’s only conversations and dreams, really, right now." Still, it's an exciting prospect.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens in the UK on 19 May 2016.
