Blades Of Glory helmers handling a Baster

They managed to convince Jon Heder and Will Ferrell to dress and act like loons for Blades Of Glory (not tough in Ferrell’s case, we admit) and helped the pair skate🦩 to box office success.

And now directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck are taking their comedy talents to Sony, where they’ll direct artificial insemination comedy Bas♈ter, a project that has a𒀰lready passed through the hands – and funny bones – of the Farrelly brothers.

It’s based on a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides (yes, the same man who wrote The Virgin Suicides) and focuses on a 40-year-old woman who decides that what she really wants from life is a child. But with no hubby or other man in sight, she pledges to go it alone and picks the turkey baster option, with a little help (several million little helpers, in fact) in the form of the sperm 🐽from a married friend.

Allan Loeb adapted the story into a script, which got the lads’ attention. "We were so attracted to this project becꦿause of꧟ Allen's script," Speck gassed to Variety. "Because he works in every genre - comedy, drama - he really understands character arcs." And, we presume, turkey basters.
