<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> //344567.top 2025-05-29T12:41:50Z en <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung 9100 Pro has shown up late to the party, but it seems like it’s done so on purpose. It’s that guest who wants to be seen making 𒉰an entrance, and that’s fair enough, because Samsung makes some great storage devices. As someone who’s been reviewing SSDs for more than two years, I’ve seen new, flashy, super-speedy Gen 5 drives launch from all sorts of manufacturers. Adata, Crucial, T-Force, PNY, and even Acer have been in the market for a while now, bu🍎t the biggest gaming brands like Samsung and WD are only just joining the battle.

And yet, as late as the 9100 Pro is in arriving, it still feels premature. It’s so silly that even in 2025, I still hesitate to call them the best SSDs for gaming, simply because their practical uses don’t live up to their sky-high prices. And at the same time, it’s impossible to deny that devices like the 9100 Pro are feats of engineering. Samsung’s new flagship doubles what the standard SSD speed has been for the last five or s💙ix years now.

That sounds impressive on paper, but arguably, we’ve reached a point🤡 with loading times where returns are starting to diminish. These SSDs are always way more expensive than their Gen 4 counterparts, with the Samsung 9100 Pro’s 1TB model alone wearing a $199 / £171 price tag at the time of writing. When that equates to about 5 seconds more spent in a loading screen, is it going to be worth the extra money?

Design & Availability

Alongside that 1TB version, the 9100 Pro has 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB capacity options as well. The 8TB model is yet to arrive on the shelves, but the 4TB costs enough to know that the incoming large-capacity one will be a remortgaging job. 4TB in the US will set you back $549 and £409.79 in the UK. I usually say 2TB is a happy medium, but an MSRP of $299.99 / £223.79 makes it the same price as a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Meta Quest 3S if you’re stateside. The Samsung 9100 Pro is available with an integrated heatsink as well if you want to show it off in your 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming PC, 𒀰but those heatsink models will ad♑d even more to the price.

That heatsink is at least designed in a friendly way, with 8.8mmT supposedly doing a more efficient job of preventing overheating while not taking up too much real estate. As someone who has had plenty of trouble trying to fit obnoxious Gen 5🃏 SSD heatsinks into a gaming PC, I can tell you that’s a welcome architectural change, and definitely a benefit of Samsung sitting the first batch of this generation’s drives out.

The 9100 Pro is compatible with gaming PCs and laptops, and it’s nice that this has been thought of, considering most Gen 5 products so far haven’t tried to cater to a more portable market. My colleague Tabitha just reviewed the first gaming laptop with a Gen 5 SSD in it, the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:MSI Raider A18 HX A9W, so support is definitely on the way for the laptop crowd. The press materials I’m seeing also say the 9100 Pro is compatible with game consoles, but I wouldn’t use this as an 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:SSD for PS5 since it doesn’t have Gen 5 support.

Features

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

The Samsung 9100 Pro features an on-the-box sequential read speed of 14,800MB/s and a write speed of 13,400MB/s. Compared to the Samsungꦐ 990 Pro, which currently holds the gold medal for any Gen 4 drive in terms of speed, that’s a marked 99% claimed increase in performance - essentially doubling the potential speeds you’ll be able to harness. So what is it about the 9100ꦆ Pro that allows it to just about break the sound barrier?

Well, for starters, this drive utilizes the PCIe 5.0 interface, like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Crucial T700 Pro does. Unlike Crucial, there’s not as much sharing of internal controllers with other brands here, since Samsung makes its own. The 9100 Pro uses the homemade Presto controller, which is aptly named. There’s also 8th-generation V-NAND cache tech on board. For those thinking about longevity, the 2TB model has an endurance of 1,200TB, but if that isn’t good enough for you, there’s a 5-year warranty. Going through that amount of space in a 5-year period sounds like a fun challenge,𒈔 don’t you think?

Despite all of this fancy architecture, the 9100 Pro🌃 still fits a regular M.2, 2280🥃 port. But with all of those great claims made, how does the 4TB model perform in real-world tests?

Performance

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

As you ꧋might expect, the answer is “fast”. I always start my SSD testing with some sequential read and write benchmarks in CrystalDiskMark, and the Samsung 9100 Pro pulled in even faster numbers than the C💮rucial T700 Pro. After averaging the results of three tests, the 9100 Pro comes just shy of its on-the-box read speed promises, but it’s still the fastest drive we’ve ever tested by some margin. It does, however, exceed its write speed promises.

But how do these synthetic tests equate to practical uses in the real world? With video game support and DirectStorage waning, th💧e best use for these next-gen SSDs at the moment is zipping massive files from one place on your computer to another. I first transferred 77GB of game files and data from one drive to another using Steam and set a stopwatch on how long it took. Moving the game files from Samsung’s slightly older 990 Evo drive to the new 9100 Pro took just 2🅘0 seconds, and transferring them back again took a similar 22 seconds. Similarly, in Windows, transferring 107GB of 4K gameplay footage was similarly speedy. Moving from the 990 Evo to the 9100 Pro took 28 seconds, and moving it back took 32 seconds. For a 3-hour-plus chunk of 4K video, that’s a pretty slick transfer, and it gives you a sense of how the 9100 Pro is going to interact with Gen 4 drives you might already own.

Windows DirectStorage was supposed to be a widely adopted feature in a lot of games by this point but, over🍃 the last few years, it’s become this obscure, hooded figure lurking in the back corner of the pub.

When Gen 5 drives started appearing, it was clear that there were teething issues. Perhaps the biggest one was thermal control, and Samsung had certainly found the solution before launching its first proper Gen 5 product. I put the 9100 Pro under my motherboard’s regular heatsink, and it did a great job of keeping its temperature control - no massive heatsink needed, no air-cooling system necessary (looking at you, Adata), and no special thermal pad, either. The 9100 Pro had an ambient temperature of just 43 degrees, and it only rose to a 46-degree peak when I was doing all of those file transfer tests. That’s not too dissimilar from the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:T-Force A440 Lite Gen 4 SSD, which has some of the best thermal performance of any drive we’ve tested lately. Samsung has clearly done work to ensure that its blazing-fast flagship is fully grown into its teeth before launching it to the pu🎶ꦬblic.

Then we come to gaming tests. I’ll reiterate once again that the tests I’m about to share with you aren’t perfect measurements by any means. Loading up various games and stopwatching how long they take is an imperfect science, and I accept that, but I do so to give you a broad idea of the types of gaming performance you can expect from a drive like this. For comparison with the previous fastest drive I’ve used, I went back to the Crucial T700 Pro and got some refreshed benchmarks. For comparisons with “slower” Gen 4 options, I also retested the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:WD Blue SN500 4TB. While I will compare them for the ꦗsake of this review, the Crucial and WD Blue SSDs were tested in a different computer, so keep that in mind.

Across the board, the Samsung 9100 Pro has produced better gaming results than the Crucial T700 Pro, and that’s a welcome surprise. It’ꦛs hardly by much, but it’s a noticeable trend in each game (except Outer Wilds, which loads so fast that this could very easily be human error). I’m honestly happy to see these kinds of improvements, even if they’re not exactly going to be noticeable if you’re not sitting with a stopwatch on e𝔉ach loading screen, like me. Baldur’s Gate 3 did net the biggest performance leap on the 9100 Pro, which is nice if you’re a big ol’ save scummer like me.

As you can likely see for yourself, though, the leap from the Gen 4 WD Blue SN500 is a matter of about 5-7 seconds in most titles. If you’re buying to mainly play multiplayer games, like Hunt Showdown, you’re still going to need to wait for the other players loading on older drives before you can start playing anyway, and depending on things like servers, connection speeds, and all the rest of it, that slick loading speed will probably balance out with other players an🌞yway. In jam-packed city builders and management games like Planet Zoo, are you really going to notice a few seconds more when loading in? I doubt it, but you might notice that larger dent in your bank balance after spending big on the 9100 Pro.

Windows DirectStorage was supposed to be a widely adopted feature in a lot of games by this point but, over the last few years, it’s become this obscure, hooded figure lurking in the back corner of the pub. There are rumours around the game dev patrons that talking to this guy can improve your loading times, but hardly anyone ev𒁃er does.

DirectStorage essentially allows a Gen 5 SSD to bypass sending information to your CPU, and diverts it right to your⛎ GPU, allowing for faster loading and rendering. The problem is, the software is still imperfect and, right now, barely makes a difference - certainly not one that’s worth the inevitable extra coding and busywork it takes to integrate it into in-progress games. The list of supported titles right now is woefully small and, honestly, even if your favorite game is found on it, I wouldn’t say spending the extra money on a Gen 5 drive is going to be worth it.

For this review, I checked DirectStorage games at the door because I wanted to see how the performance of regular titles could be improved through the latest standa▨rd of Gen 5 SSD tech. In all honesty, I expected worse results, but the improvements I saw over Crucial’s flagship from just a year or so ago fill me with hope that we are going to see better improvements in loading times as the technology increases in terms of raw performance. That said, loading times are📖 already pretty minuscule, so until a few massive games come along and use this tech to have no loading screens whatsoever, it’s going to be hard to argue these things are worth their additional costs.

Should you buy the Samsung 9100 Pro?

A Samsung 9100 Pro review image of the drive installed on a motherboard

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

The Samsung 9100 Pro is easily the best SSD I’ve ever tested, and ꧟the fastest across the board. It is nothing short of a feat of engineering, but one you probably don’t need, and won’t for quite some time yet.

Yes, if you’re looking to build the most futureproofed gaming PC imaginable, then this, or the brand new WD Black SN1800 (the equivalent from SanDisk), is going to be the drive to pick. If you’re a full-time content creator, video editor, or someone who churns through digital st🅰orage with ease, the Samsung 9100 Pro is going to offer you the best performance possible. Having seen some improvements over previous Gen 5 options, I can recommend this as the product to go for if you’re married t𓃲o the idea of a next-gen device.

If it’s just for gaming, the numbers can’t lie. You are going to get extremely slick loading times across the board with the 9100 Pro. The question you have to answer is whether or not the few s❀econds' worth of quicker loading times are going to be worth it for you compared to a Gen 4 option that’s potentially hundreds cheaper. Until there’s widely adopted support within every game, I’d still recommend that most gamers stick with Gen 4.

How I tested the Samsung 9100 Pro

I put the Samsung 9100 Pro to work by running it through our usual gauntlet of storage benchmarks. Firstly, I used CrystalDiskMark to give me some synthetic benchmarking scores to broadly test its sequential read and write speeds. After three of these benchmarks at different points of the testing process,𓃲 I averaged out the results and presented them in 🀅a table.

I then used both Steam and Windows 11 to transfer various bits of data from ✨one drive to another, timing how long it took. I kept an eye on temperatures while doing so to assess thermal control.

For gaming, I loaded into various games, some with typically slower loading speeds and some with faster ones. I used a stopwatch to track these loading times, and performed the same tests on two competing drives to come to a verdict on ✃the results, and the Samsung 9100 Pro’s value for money.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Samsung knows how to m🅘ake a mean gaming monitor, and it's fully getting in the Memorial Day spirit. No🐻t only is the 240Hz version of one of my favorite 1440p panels down to its lowest price, but its ultrawide sibling has also dipped under $1,000 for the first time since March.

At Amazon, you can grab the 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 (G61SD) thanks to Memorial Day. The 31% discount brings the , but ev🎃en though it's 22% off, it's quite a bit short of its historic $589 low.

If you've got a bit more cash to flash, and ultrawide cravings, you'll also want to peek at the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95🎶SC). It's down , which is a pretty tasty 41% discount ahead of more hardcore sales later in the year. Just like the 240Hz G6, this is only the second time this year it has hit this record low, and it's very much a Black Friday-style price tag.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G61SD) |
Save $150 - Back down to its lowest 💧price since March, Memorial Day has knocked the OLED G6 back down to Black Friday levels. This is the 240Hz version, which is the reason its a bit lower than the 360Hz has reached historically, but it's still a nice discount 🐓on a screen with largely the same qualities.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) |
Save $799.99 - I normally ex✅pect to see OLED G9 levels dip under $1,000 during events like Black Friday, but Memorial Day is clearly out to impress. It did reach this low at Amazon back in March, but it doesn't tend to go to its lowest price that often.

Sadly, the 4K Odyssey OLED G8 isn't really embracing the sale, as it's only down . I'd steer clear of that model for now since it is known to drop to $879.99 when it's in the mood, and it's hard to justify paying over a grand for Samsung's UHD display when dual resolution demons like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:LG UltraGear 32GS95UE-B are available right now.

That said, if you are looking for a speedy 1440p panel, the above Samsung charcuterie board should satiate your needs. The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Odyssey OLED G6 rജemains one of my favorite QHD displays to date, thanks to its wonderfully vibrant QꦆD-OLED tech, heroic anti-glare properties, and respectable brightness, and while it's the 240Hz headlining Memorial Day right now, it'll still largely pull the same moves as the 360Hz version

One of my favorite memories of testing the G6 links to my tim♒e checking out HDR in ꦑCyberpunk 2077. The panel packs a punch thanks to its brightness and vibrancy, and High Dynamic Range really makes an impression when handling neon-lit signage and the blaring headlights of Night City.

What I will say is that if you're looking for something different, the OLED G6 might feel a little conventional. That's where it's edgy 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 sibling comes into play, as the ultrawide 5,120 x 1,440 display shares much of the same DNA. It's also a QD-OLED model that measures in at a mega 49-inches spread across a 32:9 aspe🍷ct ratio, and it pairs an immersive curve with slick 240Hz speeds.

Ultrawide screens like this are a little unconventional, and while th🥃ey can do wonders for immersion at your desk, their usefulness fully depends on compatibility. I normally only recommend the OLED G9 to PC players who can tap into ultrawide resolutions, as trying to use it as a PS5 monitor or with the upcoming Switch 2 will mean dealing with letterboxing on each side.

However, for under $1,000, the OLED G9 is going to feel like a more lavish purchase. If you're looking to envelop yourself in PC visuals and effectively feel like you're in a futuristic cockpit, this screen is going to fit 🔥the bill. It is worth noting that the anti-glare coating that helped the G6 win me over isn't included with the ultrawide, but it might not be so much of an ܫissue since it'll curve inwards and better avoid reflections.

There are a few fierce rivals out there that could be worth considering instead, notably the faster 480Hz 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Sony Inzone M10S instead of the G6, and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:LG UltraGear 45GR95QE-B in place of the ultrawide OLED G9. But, the ♈current Memo🦂rial Day deals do help Samsung's screens stand out, and now is a nice time to jump on some early 2025 offers.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> There's no doubt about it, mobile gaming continues to climb to incredible heights - both in active player numbers and revenue. With Microsoft insisting that even your toaster is an Xbox, the days of waiting to get home before enjoying your favorite titles on a console may well be behind us. But are tablets the best way to take advantage of this portable shift? Perhaps not. Handhelds are rapidly taking over the portable gaming space, shunting mobile thumb tappers out the way with full Triple-A releases right at your fingertips. But the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming tablets still have their place on the shelves - even if they've had to fight for it over the last few years🌠.

These devices provide larger screens, more RAM, and better battery life than mainstream smartphones, but while mobile gaming continues to shoot for the moon, tablet sales are keeping their growth modest. A couple of years ago, this industry was in danger of slipping into decline. In February 2024, it was revealed that both Apple and Samsung experienced a shrink in their tablet shipments over the course of 2023 (), with -29.3% decline for the former and -6.6% for the latter - mobile gaming revenues took a smaller -2.1% hit in the same period (). Both sectors are back on the up, but mobile gaming is moving faster - by 2029, expects the number of mobile gamers worldwide to r🌟each 2.4bn, continuing an annual growth rate of 5.56% compared to the 2.82% tablet growth rate in the same period ().

It's no surprise that the responsibility of this mobile gaming market's growth looks set to be split by tablets and smartphones, but with more 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming handhelds hitting the market, and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Switch 2 now firmly on the horizon, the gaming tablet could fade into irrelevance. I'd argue that would be the case if it weren't for two big factors; the re-em෴ergence of mid-market games (helping tablets run more games natively) and the rise of streaming (opening tablets up t🌠o larger experiences separately).

Double-As are on the comeback

Lies of P

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Lies of P and It Takes Two are just a few examples of Double-A titles re-emerging as some of the most popular and talked about games of the last few years. These are simpler than Triple-A blockbusters but are still visually impressive and mechanically satisfying experiences that can feel high-end without requiring top-of-the-range specs to run well. That also means they'll generally run fine on a tablet, and as more of these midmarket releases hit the shelves more players will tune into the fact that they don't need a console or 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming PC to play some of the biggest releases of the year anymor𝔉e.

Apple's Arcade service is still largely indie-focused (though let's not forget that Balatro took the world by storm last year, earning itself a stack of awards in the process). But more midmarket titles are being added to the App Store itself all the time - Alien Isolation, Monster Hunter Stories, and Divinity Original Sin 2 are already mobile mainstays. If developers want more of these easier titles out on the market, and hardware brands are hungry for less demanding games to sho♍w off their shiny screens with, things could move fast in the next few years.

Stream if you want to go faster

Amazon Luna running on Fire HD 10 on a wooden desk

Whether you love it for its convenience or hate it for its impermanence, streaming is here to stay - and it could be one of the first reasons you consider buying a gaming tablet. No, Microsoft, not everything is an Xbox - but it's undeniable t🎃hat the Game Pass streaming service has changed things. It's the only subscription I regularly keep up with, and it's become the model for the likes of PS Plus and Amazon Luna.

With internet speeds rising, servers growing in power, and service systems becoming more sophisticated, it's now entirely possible to stream the year's biggest releases, without dropping a penny on hardware. You can do that via your existing laptop's browser or your phone, but if you're looking for a portable device with the screen 𒀰specs to keep up with your favorite games, a tablet is a clear consideration.

The handheld problem

Asus ROG Ally X handheld displaying Xbox Game Pass sitting on a wooden desk

The state of both the midmarket industry and streaming services seem to be pointing towards a move towards more efficient games less dictated by hardware - but there's one problem. The gaming hardware market is moving with it. In the last few years alone we've seen a massive explosion of dedicated handhelds hitting the shelves - and different models will do a better job at running your gameඣs (both natively and streamed) than a gaming tablet.

And this is where we really get to the crux of the question. Should you buy a gaming tablet in 2025? Only if you need a tablet first and foremost.

If you need a slab for browsing the web, watching your favorite shows and movies, taking notes in class, and firing off the odd email, but you also want a device to play a selection of native games and stream the year's biggest hits, a gaming tablet is the most cost-efficient and rewarding options you can choose. The future's looking🌟 bright for these dedicated devices, and with cheap Bluetooth controllers and on-screen controls growing in power and dropping in price, the sky's the limit at the moment. There's never been a better time to ꦯbe a casual player.

However, If you just want a device to play your games on the go or whenever the TV's already booked, a gaming handheld is going to serve you much better overall. These devices have built-in controls, game-ready refresh rates, VRR features at a lower price, graphics-oriented processing systems, and a level of control over individual power and cooling settings that you just won't find in a tablet - no matter how gamified🐎 its marketing has been.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> It's March of 2016 and I've just brought home my brand-new Samsung Galaxy S7 on launch day. Because I've pre-ordered it I've also come away with a free bonus, the Samsung Gear VR headset. It's a clever bit of kit that you slot your phone into, transforming it into a VR display p🥃anel.

The Gear VR headset was designed in partnership with Oculus, which is now owned by Meta, and it's where my love of virtual reality headsets truly began. So you can imagine my excitement starting to build throughout 2024 as rumors swirled about Samsung and Google teaming up to create their own fully-fledged VR device. After all, Meta makes some of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best VR headsets both in the gamin💎g space and for the spatial computing crowd.

I eagerly tuned into Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event last night to see what I hoped would be a reveal, but I'm not exactly buzzing with excitement after the fact. The little information we actually got about the upcoming device left even more to the imagination than the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nintendo Switch 2's teaser trailer, and what ﷺl𒉰ittle details we did get have left me deflated.

Samsung's project Moohan doesn't look like anything like a gaming device, nor the competitor to the Meta Quest headsets that the market so sorely needs. Instead, it's a sleek-looking 🥀knock-off of the Apple Vision Pro.

The Apple doesn't fall too far from the tree

A Samsung Galaxy Unpacked speaker in front of a Project Moohan teaser image

I've been trying to make sense of it since the keynote, especially since the presenters at Un🧸packed only hit us with a brief "𒈔we'll tell you more later in the year lol".

I know that Samsung is willing to die on the hill of being an Apple rival, but Apple's one foray into VR hasn't exactly been the glaring success everyone thought it'd be. Yes, the Vision Pro arguably reignited a dormant mainstream interest in this technology but, by all accounts, its high-end approach has hamstrung it, with the latest whispers suggesting a more affordable sequel may not be coming after all. So I'm a bit confused. How could S👍amsung have looked on at the Apple Vision Pro's brief stint in the spotlight and thought "oh yes, we'd love some of that"?

Admittedly, this is all conjecture until we hear more about Samsung's headset, which is said will operate via a new form of Android called Android XR. But one look at the teaser or prototype images will tell you that this looks like a high-end, premium device that takes a lot of design lessons from Apple's ski mask. The thing smells expensive, and that doesn't▨ fill me with a lot of excitement.

It doesn't take an expert in VR hardware to tell you that one of this technology's biggest problems is that it's always been prohibitively pricey. Apple's $3,500 foray is a testament to that, and if it hasn't been that popular, it's because hardly anyone can afford it. In my eyes, the reason Meta conquered the XR world is its accessible pricing. The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Meta Quest 3S offers a lot of the same mixed-reality po♕wer that The Vision Pro does, and its starting price is $299.

The other reason is that Meta hasn't had any direct competition to worry about. PSVR 2 is probably the closest thing the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Meta Quest 3 has to a rival right now, and that's only because it offers gaming capabilities at a similar price. It's not exactly a standalone mixed-reality competitor, and very few of those exist. Even the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Pico 4 Ultra won't launch in tওhe US, meaning that only select ter💃ritories have that as an alternative.

I've heard it said that Meta takes big losses by pricing its devices so low, so maybe that's why it seems like every company that enters the VR world is afraid to goജ after its market share.

Fortunately, this isn't the only headset that's rumored to launch this year, and another brand might beꦏ making the VR device I want to see.

If you can't beat em, join em... sort of.

The Meta Quest 3S and its controllers

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

There have been more rumblings this week that Asus is also gearing up to launch a VR device, with the latest word on the street being that it'll use Meta's Horizon OS. So, it would kind of be like the way the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:graphics card industry runs. Nvidia and AMD supply GPU chips to their partners along with architecture and funky upscaling software, but brands like Asus, Gigabyte, and PNY manufacture their own versions of each and price them according🦩ly. Here, Meta will supply its experienced operating system, presumably with the same access to games and apps, to a device that Asus designs and manufactures.

Asus, as we know from its many gaming peripherals, chairs, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming PC components, is well-versed in the gaming hardware realm. It's also not afraid to lead the p꧂ack in a relatively new direction. I can't see that brand following in Apple's footsteps, pricing its headset through the roof and expecting non-gamers to welcome it with open a🃏rms.

Asus ROG Ally playing high on life

Of course, this Asus VR headset could well end up being slightly more expensive than the Meta Quest 3S, but the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Asus ROG Ally is proof that this is a company that🐻 knows how to step into new waters and come out the other side🐈 with a lot of success.

The other scenario could be that Asus isn't targeting the affordable end of the market either. There aren't that many PC-tilted VR headsets these days, with the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:HTC Vive Focus Vision being a rare breed of DisplayPort-compatible🍃 devices. Pimax's Crystal range occupies this space too, but both models cost a lot for what they are. An Asus standalone headset using Meta's OS, but offering better PC potential than USB-C offerings could go down very well with gamers.

We'll need to see what's in store for 2025's VR r🧸eleases. I hope Samsung's premium-looking prototype does have the gaming potential that Apple Vision Pro hasn't really prioritized๊. Either way, Asus seems primed to pick up the slack.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Samsung just gave me a reason to get excited about 3D 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitors again, as it's collaborating with Nexon to add glasses-free visuals to The First Berserker: Khazan. The action RPG already looks like a ripping romp thanks to its vivid cell graphics aesthe🌠tic and gritty anime aesthet෴ic, but now its set to reignite the flames of three dimensional visuals via 2025 Odyssey displays.

In a press release, Samsung reveals that it's officially working alongside The First Berserker: Khaza developer Nexon Korea and Neople, the folks behind 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dungeon Fighter Online. The🦂 partnership will effectively tailor the visuals for the Odyssey 3D monitor revealed during CES 2025. Rather than merely using ꦑa post-processing effect or adding in support after release, the trio has instead worked together carefully on the "composition of characters, backgrounds, and cinematics" to tie in with the displays effects.

Naturally, the goal here is to properly propel 3D gaming back into the monitor limelight. Samsung clearly wants its Odyssey screen to be the start of the show, and while it has rivals like Acer gunning for a similar spot with the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Predator SpatialLabs View 27, the Korean tech giant is set on making sure you'll actually have newဣ games to play on its screen.

And oh boy, The First Berserker: Khazan is certainly one that could persuade me to get back in glasses-free 3D gaming. It helps that there's a whiff of Soulslike coming from the RPG, and its brutal nature leads me to believe there's lots of fun to be had with three-dimensional gore. But, I think the ideaಞ of a gaming being actually desi💞gned with 3D visuals in mind could be what matters here most, as it should mean ending up with some intentional choices that justify the format's resurgence.

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey 3D?

I won't lie to you, I was pretty cynical when I first heard about the Samsung Odyssey 3D. Keep in mind that I've experienced two waves of three-dimensional gaming in my life, with the first emerging via the Sega Master System's weird optional goggles and the last rounding out with the Nintendo 3DS and gaming TVs with active battery powered glasses. Let's just say that after decimating Ocarina of Time 3D multiple times and enduring Shadow of the Colossus on PS3 for too many hours, ꩲI've earned the right to be grumpy about 3D.

Yet, I'm actually struggling to harness any negativity when it comes to the Samsung Odyssey 3D and Nexon's The First Berserker: Khazan optimizations. Perhaps I'm simply being suckered into marketing, but I fully believe that if a developer actually sets out to caters to three-dimensional effects, the end result should be pretty enjoyable. Th♕e glasses free panel has a real opportunity to shine here just like the 3DS did back in 2011, only this time the effects will apply to a brand new adventure.

Nintendo 3DS

Of course, it's always hard to justify investing in𓃲 specific tech that could fizzle out within a few short years. You'll be completely familiar with that if you went out of your way to pick up a 3D TV of any kind back in the 2010s, particularly if you had your heart set on gaming. Samsung has yet to reveal just how much its Odyssey 3D screen will cost, but if the Predator Spati✤alLabs View 27 is anything to go by, you'll be looking upwards of $2,000. Ouch.

With that sort of price tag in mind, it's vital to not let 3D thrills blindside you when it comes to specs. Luckily, the Odyssey 3D is a 4K 165Hz panel with a 1ms GtG response time, so it is going to provide your Steam🐭 library wi🃏th nice UHD visuals. That said, it'll use an LFD (light field display) panel in place of the swanky OLED tech used by other Samsung models, and that'll no doubt impact colors and contrast.

As for whether you should buy the Samsung Odyssey 3D when it arrives this year, I'd say it depends on how much of a trendsetter you are. If you love the idea of being at the forefront of 3D gaming's third🌊 wind and you're itching to play The First Berserker: Khazan, investing in the monitor will be worthwhile. Just keep in mind that until I get to experience the RPG on the screen with my own eyes, I can't 🍒say if you'll be disappointed with your eventual purchase, and jumping on (re)emerging tech always comes with risk.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> CES 2025 is gearing up to be densely packed with the latest gadgets the tech world has to offer and Samsung has come prepared with the announcement that the Odyssey 3D gaming monitor will be shown off at this year's event. If you thought that 3D displays were long since relinquished to the shadow realm, you'd be wrong as the CES show floor will play host to the brand-new 3D display, alongside the Smart Monitor M9 with built-in AI features and the world's first 27-inch 4K OLED Samsung Odyssey gaming monitors with hefty 500Hz refresh rates.

Originally unveiled at Gamescom 2024, the Odyssey 3D (G90XF model) 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitor is exactly what it sounds like, a 3D addition to the Odyssey lineup. However, inꦇstead♎ of requiring the use of often awkward-to-glasses like the 3D HD TVs of the 2010s, Samsung's new monitor does away with them entirely. Instead, the display utilizes a lenticular lens attached to the front panel to produce a 3D experience for your favorite games.

Hoon Chung, Execut🎶ive Vice President of Enterprise Business Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics stated in a on August 21, 2024, during the monitor's initial unveiling that Samsung is committed to "leading the premium ♕gaming monitor market by continuously developing cutting-edge technologies", however, the idea of a 3D display isn't exactly cutting edge at all.

In fact, CES as far back as 2008 played host to what is believed to be one of the very first 3D gaming monitors by the brand IZ3D. Plus, Acer beat Samsung to the punch with the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Predator Spatia𝔍lLabs View 27 monitor 3D monitor, with also forgoes the need of glasses. But what does make the Odyssey 3D an intriguing piece of tech is what it is, but how it works. According to the , the monitor uses light field display (LFD) technology to create 3D imagery using 2D visuals alongside its lenticular lens. These technologies, when combined with Eye Tracking performed by a built-in stereo camera, and View Mapping that continually adjusts the image to aid with depth perception, is what enables the glasses-free 3D experience.

While it will soon be available to take a spin for yourself on the CES 2025 show floor, Samsung has been quiet in other details surrounding the Odyssey 3D. Whether it comes to the original Gamescom 2024 unveiling or CES 2025, so far any info on what games work best with the new glasses-free 3D visuals has been scarce. Hopefully, this will be made available as CES gets rolling, however, I do worry that getting the best 3D result could involve game developers integrating support. A fact that could be a predicament for the niche tech, especially when other monitor brands aren't jumping back into the 3D space.

At least for the time being we do know that the Odyssey 3D will feature a 4K resolution, rapid 1ms gray-to gray (GTG) response time, and a refresh rate of 165Hz. Not only that, but for those not too fussed a♈bout 3D, Samsung states the display "seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D modes" as you see fit.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung 990 Pro is probably my favorite SSD for gamers right now. It's exceediꦯngly fast, very stylish, and has effective heatsinks if you're looking to slot it in a PS5. Without going into needlessly expensive Gen 5 SSD territory, the 990 Pro is the best drive money can buy. That said, I wouldn't usually recommend that anyone buys the 4TB model.

That's no slight against Samsung's 990 Pro - 4TB drives just coဣst a fortune, and even content creatꦬors who burn through external hard drives at a rate of noughts would struggle to justify their costs. Prime Day has produced a pure miracle though, because the 4TB Samsung 990 Pro with an integrated heatsink is currently

I can already hear some of you laughing at the idea of that being a good 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day PS5 deal, let alone a miracle. As someone who reviews SSDs for a living though, and has to watch these 4TB drives cost sometimes into the five or six hundreds, this really is ridiculous though. Samsung is one of the biggest brands, and this is one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best SSDs for PS5, those aren't normally thꦉe ones that drop down to the cheapest levels. Back in July for the summer edition of Prime Day, I thought it was great to see this drive down to $299.99, and I feel like a fool for getting excited about that now.

Samsung 990 Pro 4TB |
Save $200 - 4TB for under $300 is already a good deal, but getting the heatsink already on top is even better. July's previous Prime Day price was its l💜owest ever, but this has trounced it, taking an additional $20 off the price.

Buy it if:

✅ You play on PC or PS5
✅ You genuinely need 4TB
✅ You need the heatsink

Don't buy it if:

❌ You don't care about read/write speeds

UK:

It should go without saying, but this easily counts as a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day PC deal too. Arguably, that's actually where you'll get the most value for money since the true speed of this drive will be slightly hamstrung by the PS5. No matter what you're hoarding, whether 𓄧it's installed PS Plus games or content, files, an OS, and games on a PC, you've got ཧa serious winner on your hands with the 4TB Samsung 990 Pro.

Should you buy the Samsung 990 Pro?

Gen 4 SSDs are the most widely used these days when it comes to gaming. They use the PCIe 4 interface to deliver extremely fast speeds for shifting around data, as well as SSD architecture that sets it up for success anyway. While Gen 5 options now exist and can produce ludicrous speed, they're ultimately too pricey for their limited support at the moment. For that reason, drives like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung 990 Pro are highly soug🐼ht after because they max out what a Gen 4 SSD is capable of while remaining somewhat reasonably priced.

In terms of numbers, that means that the Samsung 990 Pro can reach 7,450MB𝔍/s sequential read speeds, and writes of 6,900MB/s. When it comes to the 4TB model, those numbers are more likely than ever to be met in your system.

Of course, as impressive as this 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:SSD for gaming is, I shouldn't need to tell you that 4TB is only really there for the people who need it. If you record a lot of gameplay, or you like to download every single game that gets added to PS Plus or Game Pass, then this is for you. ༒If not, there really isn't much need for a 4TB drive, unless🦩 you want the most extreme futureproofing imaginable.

For PS5 buyers, I shouldn't need to tell you that an upgrade like this is another great way to turn your existing console into a homemade PS5 Pro. The upgraded PlayStation is $250 more expensive than a regular system, so if you're satisfied with how yours performs, this is a fun way to futureproof it. For those who have picked up a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:PS5 Pro Pre-order, this deal combined with your new internal 2TB drive would create a PS5 Pro Super, which would amount to a total of⛦ 6TB of space.

But then again, there are other 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day gaming deals to be had as we🌟ll - you don't need to blow your entire budget on storage alone.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> It's time we admit it: SSD prices are bold-faced lies. This year especially, the li💙sted prices of each model changes depending on the retailer, supply, and I guess the movement of stars with each new day. While that's true enough for 1TB drives, the problem only worsens as you move up the capacity scale. 2TB and 4TB drives can have these laughably high prices that go into the five and sometimes six hundreds. In other words, they're even harder to keep track of, and for that reason, I usually don't recommend them very often.

However, Prime Day has actually brought me a bit of hope, because one of the best 4TB drives I've tested is seeing a continued price drop at the moment. The Samsung 990 Pro is up there with the best SSDs for gaming ever made, and right now 🔯you can get its 4TB model for (the 🥃retailer says it was $464.99, but its average price at Amazon is actually $339).

For what I deem one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best SSDs for gaming, that's all you can wish for during a Summer sale, but this deal has actually improved as time has gone on. Earlier in the week, this drive was at $299.99, and since then its price has been slashed further to $291. This is undoubtedly one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day PC deals ꦗthat's impressed me mos🍬t, so it's great to see it age like a fine wine.

Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD |
Save $173 - The 4TB Samsung 990 Pro is probably the best all-round Gen 4 SSD you can get at the moment. Its price originally dropped to $299 for Prime Day, which was already good enough. As the event has continued, it's droppe🐷d even fu♐rther to the most affordable it's been since Black Friday.

Buy it if:

✅ You're happy adding your own heatsink
✅ You want to future-proof your storage
✅ You regularly download from the PS Plus catalog

Don't buy it if:

❌ You don't want to install your own heatsink

UK:

There are a few caveats you should know here. Firstly, while I use this enormous SSD in my PS5, the model in this limited-time deal doesn't have an integrated heatsink. That means that if you're planning on making the most of this price as a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day PS5 deal, you'll need to grab one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best PS5 heatsinks to place on top of it.

The second thing you should know is that while this doesn't appear to be a Prime-exclusive deal, it is a limited-time one, so if you're tempted to buy, don't wait too long. It's always possible that 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day gaming deals could force this drive's price down even 💝further, but that relies ✨on stock holding.

Should you buy the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB?

Samsung 990 Pro with a heatsink being held by a reviewer

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

Short of going for a Gen 5 SSD like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Crucial T700 Pro, which is even more expensive, you're not going to find a better SSD for gaming than the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung 990 Pro. The 4TBඣ version specifically is one I use every day, so it's one I can recomܫmend with ease.

When we reviewed the 2TB model (which is always a good testing point for the other sizes in a product range), we found sequential read speeds of 7,462MB/s and 6,877MB/s writes. The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Seagate Firecuda 530 is probably the closest competitor to that, along with the likes of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:WD Black's SN850X, and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Corsair's MP600 Elite. Wh꧋ile any of those drives will give you the best loading times a Gen 4 drive can, Samsung's 4TB model is the one I'd choose because of its really solid random 4K performance.

Moreover, in terms of value for money, this deal comes in under the SN850X's 4TB size, which is , and is claiming to be reduced from $699.99. The Seagate Firecuda 530 doesn't seem to be available in 4TB at the moment, which is par for the course for that very popular drive. And Corsair's MP600🌠 Elite is all the way up at , still claiming to be discounted to that 🎐price.

Overall, this is a great SSD for a🌳 reasonable price, which is nice 𝕴to see in 2024 when SSDs have been getting pricier.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The new Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 arrived just days ago, but Newegg has already stepped up with an incredible deal. If you grab the 4K 240Hz screen꧃ at the eggy site right now, you’ll also get a $300 gift card for good measure, giving you an excuse to splash out onꦬ other setup bits.

I had to double-check this Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 offer a few times just in case I was seeing things. However, I can confirm that I am not hallucinating and various retailers like Amazon are throwing in a $300 gift card with the new screen . Not that many of you would even need the store credit as an excuse to pick up this screen, as it could swiftly become one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitors to arrive on the scene this year.

With 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day gaming monitor deals just around the corner, I’m both surprised and amused that new G8 deals are already a thing. I only just shared my hands-on impression of Samsu🌼ng’s new OLED displays, and I fig🎀ured it’d take at least a few weeks for proper savi🌠ngs to enter the fold. Naturally, I’ve had a poke around at other retailers to see if any other offers are live, and Newegg is matching Amazon with the same . There’s even a available, and you’ll of course be able to head straight to Samsung if you fancy splashing out on more of the tech giant’s products.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD) + $300 gift card |
Save $300 - This introductory offer goes a step further by throwing in $300 of free store credit with the shiny new Odyssey G8, eജstablishing a pretty high deal bar ahead of Prime Day. It’d be surprising if this same figure turned into a direct price cut any time soon, so this is the offer to go for if you want Samsung’s new screen for less.

Buy it if:
You want a speedy OLED display
Your desk is next to a window
You need extra burn-in protection

You want a smaller screen
You’re not fussed about OLED

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8?

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 with T1 League of Legends team standing in backdrop

The current Odyssey OLED G8 gift card deal is enticing, but it’s worth considering whether Samsung’s newest screen is the right display for you. Having tried both the 32-inch model and the accompanying Odyssey OLED G6 just last week, I can confirm that both are striking options for mid-range and high-end setups, with features like anti-glare helping bolster their 🍌visual c🔯apabilities.

If you care about cutting-edge specs, the OLED G6 more than has you covered with its 4K 240Hz abilities. I normally use a 144Hz screen to tackle my Steam backlog, and I could immediately feel the difference when running a few rounds in Rocket League. The fact it’s also rocking a 0.03ms GtG response time means it should hold up pretty well in any competiti✃ve scenario you throw at𝔉 it, even if the G6 does offer up a faster 360Hz refresh rate.

On the design front, I think the new OLED G8 is one of the best-looking Samsung Odyssey OLED monitors yet. The screen’s tapered metal shell helps keep everything incredibly low profile, and it’s reওfreshing not seeing that usual boxy IO hump strapped to the back like a weird jetpack. Even the pedestal stand offers up stylish minimalism, and it’s sure to fit at gaming desks that have soundbars and other accessories normally beneath their screens.

(Image credit: Future / Phil Hayton)

Before settling on the G8, I’d ask you two questions. The first i🍌s whether you actually care about faster refresh rates or OLED panels, as there are plenty of far cheaper 4K screens out there. For example, you can currently grab the 27-inch Samsung Odyssey G7 (down from $699.99) and gain both UHD visuals and a commendable 144Hz refresh rate. You’ll be trading away superior contrast for that sub-$500 price tag, but it could be a more 🐼sensible purchase if you usually struggle to tell the difference between panel types.

If you are set on picking up the OLED G8, I would recommen🦂d jumping on this gift card offer while it’s still around. While I’m expecting big things from this year’s Prime Day festivities, I can’t see the Samsung screen showing up for less this July. Introductory offers are sometimes a surefire way to grab a better value deal without having to wait for big sales like Black Friday, and this offer is no exception.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung Odysseyꦺ G3 is up there with the b🌸est 1080p gaming monitors. Sure, it lacks the resolution prowess of UHD displays, but its speedy 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time pair perfectly with many budget setups. So you can imagine how delighted I am to see it dip to its Black Friday price only six months into the year, as it’s now the price of many lower-spec alternatives that wield entry-level specs.

If you take a stroll over to Amazon right now, you can grab the 24-inch Samsung Odyssey G3 (was $199.99) thanks to a 34% discount. This is only the second time the model has actually dipped under $150, and ordinary offers usually only take $50 off. Plus, we’re talking about a screen that can rival the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitors for 1080♏p setups rather than something that simply gets the job done.

Typically speaking, it’s hard to find a 1080p display for close to $100 with a faster refresh rate and gaming abilities. Most options out there will set you back at least $150, and that’s taking 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day gaming monitor deals into account. I’m actually surprised that the Odyssey G3 didn’t wait until Amazon’s big sale to jump back to its lowest price, but I suspect the discount lines up with the release of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史🦹查询:Samsung’s new Odyssey G6 and G8 screens that I recently tried out.

Samsung Odyssey G3 24-inch (LS24AG302NNXZA) |
Save $70 - Back down to its Black Friday price, the Odyssey G3 has only dipped below $130 twice so far. Normally, it likes to drop from $200 to $150, so this is your chance to grab 35% off well before any ꧟sales kick 🍌off.

Buy it if:
You play games at 1080p
You need a display for a handheld
You want a faster refresh rate

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey G3?

Samsung Odyssey G3 monitor with view of back and in vertical mode

Yes, I know, the idea of buying a 1080p monitor in 2024 might feel a little odd to some of you. After all, we’re now at the stage where using 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:monitors for PS5 is the norm, as 4K 120Hz isn’t just reserved fo🐟r PC gameplay. That said, gunning for the best specs possible just forও the sake of it isn’t always the answer, and spending $130 on the Samsung Odyssey G3 could provide some players with a more balanced experience.

For starters, I’d always advise players to match up monitor resolution to their system’s capabilities. 4K is wonderful, but there’s little point in using a UHD display if you’re going to use an entry-level graphics card to run your Steam games. If you’re rocking an 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 or lower, the Odyssey G3 is going to natively serve up great 1080p visuals that are snapꩲpy thanks to its 144Hz abilities. Not to mention added AMD FreeSync support will ensure everyt𒅌hing is tear-free.

I’m also into the idea of using the Odyssey G3 specifically for the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming handheld, as the likes of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Steam Deck OLED and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Asus ROG Ally are better suited to 1080p screens. The faster refresh rate gives some headroꦦom to Valve’s portable powerhouse when running less intense classics and indie romps, and 24 inches is the perfect size for masking any softness tied to FSR upscaling.

The closest alternative I could find to the Odyssey G3 right now on Amazon is the LG UltraGear 24GN600-B . It offers an extremely similar experience to Samsung’s 144Hz 1080p 𝐆display, so it could be worth checking out if you’re struggling to decide. However, the G3 wins out right now in terms of price, and it’s sure to please anyone who likes the idea of grabbing a $200 monitor for a chunk less.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> New Samsung OLED gaming monitors are on the way, and the Odyssey G6 and Odyssey G8 already feel like something special. At this stage, screens really have to go out of their way to leave an impression on me, but this new duo has caught my attention through style, impressive specs, and one feature that facilitates punchy visuals at every angle. In fact, I’m worried that many other displays in 2024 are going to fall shꦚort if they can’t replicate one particular trait.

It takes more than just an impressive OLED panel to make my 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitor list, as the whole package matters. Sure, previous models like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 hold their position thanks to incredible contrast an🔥d colors, but it's the screen maker’s attention to design that ultimately earns it the crown. While I’ll need to properly road-te🐷st the new Odyssey OLED G6 and G8 models to know if the same applies, even a short demo has left me thinking about how the displays would look in my office.

Last week, I was invited by Samsung to feast my eyes on the new Odyssey OLED G6 and G8. Admittedly, I wasn’t sure whether the 32-inch 4K UHD model or the 27-inch QHD model would rock my world, as I’ve tested plenty of excellent OLED panels with speedy refresh rates and snappy response times. And, while the displays impress in both those departments with 240Hz and 360Hz abilities, getting a good lo𒉰ok at them first-hand hammered home what all the fuss is about.

Eye-catching from all angles

The very first thing I noticed was that the OLED G6 and G8 appeared immune to glare, which is impressive given the “demo bus” was parked right next to a large window. Better still, it happe𓆏ned to be one of the sunniest days we’ve had in weeks, but even that seemingly couldn’t beat Samsung’s new “OLED Glare-Free technology.” My gaming desk at home sits right next to a window, so I’m more than aware of the havoc a nice day can wreak on a gaming session (promoting me to go out for a walk instead of bashing my Steam back🧸log).

Before planking myself down for a proper test session, I got a 360° look at the OLED G6 and G8, and the experience was refreshing. I’m well aware that Samsung knows how to make pretty displays, and both tꦿhese new gaming monitors embody the tech giant’s dedication to aesthetics. The design is similar to that of the Odyssey Neo range, but the panel type allows for a much slimmer profile and a tapered back that avoids using a big boxy hump for IO placement.

I’m not saying that having the likes of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Dough Spectrum Black and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 with a protruding box is a deal breaker, but both do look clunky compared to the gentle curves of the new Odyssey OLED range. Plus, I’m a bi🐻g fan of HDMI and D🔥isplayPort facing outwards rather than living under a lip, as it’s far easier to hook up consoles and other PCs on a whim. It also means that functional elements don’t disrupt the RGB ring at the center, helping add a bit of flare to an otherwise minimalist design.

I want to also praise the G6 and G8’s choice of pedestal stand, as it trades V-shapes and chonky bases for a low-profile pentagon. At first, it may look like it takes up more space than it needs to, but since it’s thin, you’ll actually have more freedom to fit accessories and things like soundbars underneath. I reckon it could even serve as a nice console platform – a huge win if you’re looking specifically for a monitor for PS5 or somewhere to pop your 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Steam Deck dock.

Snappy and striking

To get a feel for both the G6, I used Samsung’s gaming mouse and keyboard setup to whiz around in Rocket League. At 27 inches, I wasn’t able to sniff out any fidelity issues playing at 1440p, with the display's 360Hz 0.03ms abilities also helping to keep my eyes busy. Everything felt as slick as I’d have expected from an OLE𒁃D panel in 2024, and the contrast was once again elevated by the complete lack of glare from either the room’s lighting or the glorious weather happening outside.

The larger 32-in🌠ch G8 model dials things down to 240Hz to achieve UHD, and it makes for a strong 4K gaming monitor contender. It’d take more than a quick session in Fortnite for me to detect the difference in refresh rate, but at face value, the experience feels just as snappy. The OLED panel also pulls punches to help maintain that balance of speed and vibrance, and onceﷺ again, zero glare in spite of being positioned right in front of a large window.

Samsung’s burn-in battle

My hands-on impressions as♚ide, there are a couple of OLED G6 and G8 features that should help both panels win players over. For inst𒀰ance, Samsung has armed both with OLED Safeguard+ tech, which uses a “pulsating heart pipe” and “Dynamic Cooling System” to shift more heat than traditional methods. There are also some preventative brightness measures at hand to combat things like static logos and images, so you probably won’t be haunted by your favorite game’s UI after a few years of use.

I’m also thrilled to report that G8 comes with a remote control, and I re𒊎ally hope it helps end fiddly nubs and OSD buttons. Admittedly, the 4K model comes with Tizen smart features baked in, which makes the addition of a remote necessary, but I’m still pretty hyped for the added extra. I’d go as far as to say that it makes it worth picking up over smaller gaming TV options out there, as you’ll have everything to hand that you’d find in a living room display.

Glorious anti-glare makes a difference

I don’t want to act all clairvoyant about my own upcoming Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 review, but I’m certain Glare-Free tech is going to be a big talking point. Same applies to the G8, and it coul🍌d be enough to make rivals sweat. Combatting reflections and bright patches isn’t anything new, as it’s been a feature of many screens over the past few years. However, now that I’ve clapped my eyes on Samsung’s latest attempt, I’m going to struggle using and reviewing other screens.

Both the new Odyssey OLED G6 and G8 will go on sale 18 June, but UK players can pre-order the G6 right now . We're still waiting for orders to go live in the US, but watch this space.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> I like t🐈o keep a close eye on the premium gaming monitor scene during events like Memorial Day, as seasonal sales can provide access to an additional pool of panels. So, you can 🎃imagine my delight when I spotted the impressive Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 down to its lowest price, as its QD-OLED specs are an absolute win for well under $1,000.

The Memorial Day deal is live over at Amazon right now, with a 33% offer bringing the 34-inch Samsung Odyssey G8 down . The $400 discount returns the QD-OLED display back to its lowest price, and the screen o𓆉nly occasionally dips into triple-digit territory. Even last year’s Black Friday festivities failed to bring the speedy screen below $800, so this is a pretty attractive saving, to say the least.

Armed with a 175Hz refresh rate and snappy 0.03ms response time, the Odyssey G9 has what it takes to rival the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitors out there. Being a QD-OLED display, it also boasts superior contrast and colors compared to many alternatives out there, and you’ll immediately notice a difference compared to traditional VA and IPS panels. Samsung’s included Game Bar software also drives home its 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming PC and console prowess, with plenty of options to ﷽help enhance your eಞxperience.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 |
Save $400 - Returning to its lowest price since March, the O💦dyssey OLED G8 normally likes to sit on a perch above $1,000. This Memorial Day deal also beats previous prices featured during Black Friday 2023, so it’s worth considering if you’ve been holding off for the best po෴ssible offer.

Buy it if:
You want superior contrast
✅You’re looking for a speedy OLED
✅You want a curved ultrawide display

Don't buy it if:
You want bigger than 32-inch
❌You’d rather avoid OLED

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8?

At just under $800, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is still an investment. However, its OLED capabilities and elevated refresh rate will stand the test of time, meaning you might not think about an upgrade for quite a few years. The fact it’s ultrawide also might save you from using a secondary screen, but I’d ultimately suggest investing in the larger 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 instead if it’s more workspace you’re after.

At its current price, the OLED G8 is the ultrawide gaming monitor I’d go for right now. There are 34-inch alternatives, like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30 that swap OLED for other panel types, but you’ll end up paying the꧙ same price for a lesser experience. Sure, mini-LED can produce brighter results, b✤ut I can’t really see that being a biggie unless you’re constantly gaming in broad daylight.

One factor I do think could be a deal breaker for some premium players is the G8’s QHD limitations. Just like many ultrawide screens, you’ll be missing out on a true 4K experience, instead making use of 1440p with a wider aspect ratio. That said, I think 34-inch is a sweet spot for avoiding any softness at sub-UHD resolutions, and the excellent contrast provided by OLED tech serves as a nice distraction from not-so-crisp pixels. Plus, you’ll realistically need one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best graphics cards around to enjoy full-blown 🦂4K anyw𒀰ay, so Samsung’s panel will probably suit a majority of setups out there.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Believe it or not, some people don’t 𝕴like big TVs dominating their living rooms. Yes, I know, if you’re a PS5 fan or an Xbox devotee then that’s probably going to be hard to comprehend, but you might already be trying to convince a loved one or anyone else you share your space with to let you upgrade your current dinky display. If that’s the case, I may have a solution for you, as Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ will let you disguise your new console screen as contemporary art.

Sounds like a plan? Well, you’ll want to head over to Amazon and pick up the Samsung Frame, as a 31% discount has knocked it down . For well under a grand, you’re getting a 50-inch 4K display that can rival some of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best TVs for PS5 and Xbox Series X while possessing arty Kameleon superpowers. As yoꦕu can imagine, a high-spec screen that can make itself look like a Monet has widespread appeal, and this model only tends to drop to this price occasionally. It’s actually the same record low that featured during Black Friday, so you can rest assured that you didn’t miss a better offer during last year’s event.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – surely a TV that can pose as art comes with caveats? Well, no, this panel actually provides the same 4K 60Hz punch as many of Samsung’s other 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming TV contenders. In fact, it arguably has an edge over ordinary models, as its matte finish screen will easily fend off distracting reflections while you play. It’s also worth not💮ing that this is a QLED display we’re talking about, so you’ll benefit from elevated brightness and vivid colors that can hold up against even the top OLED options out there.

Samsung The Frame 50-inch |
Save $382 - A 31% discount has brought Samsung’s decorative TV back down to its lowest price. The screen tends to only drꦅop briefly below $1,000 every few months, and this is the same price tag that it wore during Black Friday 2023.

Buy it if:
You want a stylish TV
You appreciate art
You’re fed up with black rectangles

Don't buy it if:
You couldn’t care less about art
A painting would look out of place in your space

This is going to sound a little odd, but if you or someone you live with would rather not have a TV in their living room, this is the television for you. Let’s be real, big black squares haunting the walls of your space can spoil whatever𒆙 aesthetic you’re going for, but this framed panel has the ability to look like a legitima✃te painting and contribute to whatever vibe you’re going for.

Of course, all that will mean nothing to you if you’re looking to pair your PS5 with the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best QLED TV out there, and Samsung’s solution𒐪 can thankfully also fulfill that brief. Sure, the main draw is the screen’s customizable wood-effect bezel and digital art store access, but it also boasts game-boos🍒ting attributes like Quantum HDR as well as Tizen smart features.

Of course, if you don’t have to worry about convincing someone else to let you have a 50-inch PS5 screen in your space, then you might want to consider the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung QN90A instead. This 144Hz flagship speedster has an edge if you’re serious about playing FPS games at high frame rat෴es, but it will set you back more and sort of look like you’ve got a huge gamiไng monitor sitting in the living room.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung QN55S90D might be new to 2024, but the 120Hz OLED TV has already received its first price cut. That’s great news for anyone thinking about treating their PS5 to a shi༒ny new screen, and it’s probably the one I’d invest in this year specifically for♔ new-gen consoles.

Over at Amazon right now, you’ll find that the 55-inch Samsung QN55S90D is down . That’s $200 off for anyone attempting the maths, and it’s not too shabby considering the fact it rivals the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming TVs with its 120Hz OLED panel. Integrated 4K AI upscaling will also help this TV give your lower-spec consoles a boost, which could be a huge win if you’re a Switch player or regularly use a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Steam Deck dock. If you’re not into using an additional 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:sound system, you’ll also be pleased to hear this model boasts Dolby Atmos speake꧂rs, providing your content with excellent virtual 3D surround sound.

If you’re actually looking for something faster than 120Hz🐼, you’ll also have the option of playing around with Samsung’s 144Hz “Motion Xcelerator”. We're talking about frame rate interpolation here rather than a magic refresh rate booster, it’ll be a pseudo effect that will only make things appear smoother visually.ꦏ Still, if you’re into the idea of messing with a living room gaming PC setup, the tech could make for an interesting experiment.

Brand new 2024 gaming TVs are currently rolling out onto the scene, and the Samsung QN55S90D is a solid OLED 120Hz option. Since it’s new, you can rest assured that it’ll boast all of the company's latest software innovations, including the 4K AI upscaler mentioned above alongside a “Real Depth Enhancer” and HDR+ abilities. All o𓆏f that comes at a cost, but when you consider the model’s specs and extra features, you’re getting a solid screen that should pair nicely with future consoles for a few years to come.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> If yo💙u look up ‘massive monitor’ in the dictionary, you’ll likely find a picture of the Samsung Odyssey Ark. It’s a di๊splay that’s probably bigger than most people’s living room TVs, and comes with an equally large price tag attached. However, those of you who have been waiting for a cheeky discount are in luck, as the second-gen version has a whopping $1,000 off.

Those of you who fancy splashing out on the Samsung Odyssey Ark will want to go check out the Amazon Spring Sale, as it has slashed the screen . Yes, I know, not many of you out there will have a spare two grand free to invest in a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitor, but those of you who do are going to end up with an unbeatable experience. We’re talking 55-inches of curved mini-LED 4K glory, and that wraparound effect is going to provide immersi🤪on levels that rival VR.

That wraparound 1000R curvature might seem like a novelty in itself, but the Odyssey Ark has an ace up its sleeve. By rotating the display, you’ll activate what Samsung describes as “cockpit mode”, something that’s going to make your setup feel a bit sci-fi. Switching to vertical practically serves as three smaller displays stacked on top of each other, but if you’re creative, you’ll already have games in mind that’ll look ridiculously cool with this aspect ratio. Personally♕, I really want to fire up some old-school arcade shooters that support TATE mode (I’ll bring the Orange GameCube and Ikaruga if you bring the Ark.)

Samsung Odyssey Ark (2nd gen) |
Save $1,000 - The newest version of the Odyssey Ark has a chonky 33% off, and it's within touching distan🔜ce of its cheapest-ever price. We can't see this screen dropping any lower before Black Friday this year, so if you're keen to spend most of 2024 using cockpit mode, now's your chance to save some cash.

Buy it if:

You want one of the biggest monitors
✅
You're looking for something ultra-immersive
✅ You play racing games and flight sims

Don't buy it if:

❌ You'd prefer multiple separate screens
❌ You've got a normal-sized desk

Price check: |

There are a few features the Odyssey Ark possesses that aren’t size-related, some of which you won’t find in most monitors. For starters, you can hook up multiple PCs and control them all using a single keyboard and mouse, almost like eachꦅ rig is one and the same. The display also boasts four corner speakers and two subwoofers, with Dolby Atmos surround providing the perfect excuse to ditch your existing🦄 speaker system.

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey Ark?

Gamer using Samsung Odyssey Ark in cockpit mode

At the end of the day, $2,000 is a lot to spend on a gaming mon🍬itor, even one as dazzling as the Samsung Odyssey Ark. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t invest, and it becomes a case of making sure you’re going to get maximum use out of it, rather than it serving as an ordinary desktop display.

Not to come up with excuses for you, but if you were planning on buying three separate monitors anyway, the Odyssey Ark could serve as an effective high-spec solution that could potentially cost less. For example, even though you can currently grab a chonky 46% off a Samsung Odyssey G7 4K screen right now, you’re still talking a pop, adding up to over $2,101. I’d argue there are greater benefits to having a seamless sprea🍃🌠d of 55 inches available over separate panels, especially when it comes to making full use of the space for gaming.

In any case, if you do decide the Odyssey Ark isn't for you, there's every chancꦜe you'll find a great alternative in the Amazon Spring Sale. You'll find a selection of discounted displays below, with plenty of Samsung alternatives at pretty attractive prices.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> In 2023, we saw the dawn of PCIe Gen 5 SSDs in the mainstream ma𝔉rket. This time last year, the first few drives were trickling their way into Asian markets🍰, and as motherboard compatibility started to become a bit more common, bigger brands started taking a crack at them.

Now, we have a few models that are widely available. ADATA's Legend 970 has its own cooling fan built into its heatsink, and the Crucial T700 Pro has reviewed well but has been met with mixed reports from consumers. These Gen 5 SSDs are still in their early days, and their volatility when it comes to size, cooling, and speeds means they're still only perched to become the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best SSDs for gaming.

How♏ever, Samsung has now thrown its hat in the ring, yesterday announcing the Samsung 990 Evo, the first-ever hybrid interface SSD. Sportin🍸g 4x PCIe Gen 4 lanes and 2x PCIe Gen 5 lanes, it can work with both architectures while offering the same bandwidth to either.

Essentially, when the 990 EVO is connected to PCIe Gen 5 systems, it will connect wi🥃th its speedy two lanes automa🍒tically, but there will be no performance drop compared to its four Gen 4 lanes. With that in mind, the 990 EVO can even be used with compatible laptops. This clever design will also reduce power demands and temperatures, which Gen 5 SSDs are known to struggle with.

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

This is certainly an interesting approach to take with🀅 the blazing-fast architecture of PCIe 5.0, and it serio🍸usly bucks the trends we've seen so far.

For reference, an everyday Gen 4 NVMe drive, like one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best PS5 SSDs for example, is capable of readও speeds of up t🌞o 7,400MB/s. Gen 5's heavily boasted speeds are over the 1GB/s mark, so fairly ridiculous. The new 990 EVO is much more subdued, however, with quoted read speeds of 5,000MB/s regardless of whether you grab it in 1TB or 2TB shape.

Before that sparks a fit of gamer rage at Samsung, I'll add that this isn't a drive that's trying to target the uppermost echelon of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming PCs. This is Samsung's EVO range, which offers slightly more reserved speeds, authentic homecooked architecture, but more reasonable prices. Indeed, if you compare speeds directly, the 980 PRO and 990 Pr𒉰o drives are both faster than this new EVO option, but if you try to get hold of either, you're still looking at upwards of $80 for 1TB worth of 2-year-old architecture. I haven't been given US prices for the new 990 EVO, but in the UK, it'll set you back £100.99 for 1TB and £169.99 for the 2TB model.

For a drive that's somewhere in between a Gen 4 and Gen 5 SSD, its price does reflect that somewhat. To be comple🤪tely honest with you though, this could offer up some serious value when it comes to futur𝓡eproofing.

Image 1 of 2

Image 2 of 2

A Samsung 990 EVO box next to a Crucial T700 Pro with its obnoxious heatsink size

(Image credit: Future / Duncan Robertson)

I'm someone who reviews memory and storage devices for work, and even with access to a few beefy gaming PCs, I've had a serious struggle trying to testꦫ out Gen 5 SSDs because of their limited motherbꦉoard compatibility and obnoxious heatsinks. If you don't need the absolute best speeds out there in a solid-state drive just now but know you'll want to upgrade your motherboard and PC at some point, the 990 EVO might be the perfect springboard for you to make that transfer.

For content creators, photographers, or graphics designers, a read speed of 5,000MB/s isn't going to hamstring you. Even for gaming, you're still giving yourselfও solid loading times - the PS5 SSD minimum read speed ma🤪y technically be above this (5,500MB/s), but not by much in practical terms.

We wouldn't recommend putting♔ a drive like this, nor any Gen 5 drive inside your PS5 anyway. As some YouTubers have found, Sony's system doesn't like them, and Gen 5 SSDs are not back🥂wards compatible with Gen 4 M.2 bays.

Regardless, I'm more interested in the architecture of a drive like this, because it shows that there is more than one approach to tackling new technology. While this is technically Samsung's first Gen 5 SS🥀D, I'm certain that when the first PCIe 5.0 "PRO" model arrives, it's going to be a lot more stable than the rivals we've seen already because the brand has taken a more measured approach to begin with.

What's more, I applaud Samsung for offering consumers a generational springboard thanks to clever technical innovation. That's something we don't often see when it comes to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best CPUs for gaming, or indeed the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best RAM for gaming.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> QD-OLED gaming monitors have picked up some serious traction over the last few years, with Alienware and Samsung leading the pack. Both brands have stepped up the game at CES, though, unveiling new 4K panels with HP in tow as well. Previous QD-OLED gaming monitors have tapped out at QHD resolutions (or various versions of them⛦), and while it'll take some serious grunt to run each panel at its highest possible refresh rate, those after🦋 a high-end setup are well served here.

We've got Alienware, HP, and Samsung bringing 4K resolution to QD-OLED 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitors this year, with new announcements springing up all over the showfloor. All of these competing panels feature 32-inch form factors with UHD resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate, but there a♐re some more important differences between the three.

HP Omen Transcend 32 gaming monitor

The HP Omen, for example, employs KVM switching technology to allow you to use a single monitor as a hub between two PC devices - dragging and dropping files between them and seamlessly switching between inputs. Samsung's Odyssey G8 has a similar function, but only with Samsung technology (no surprises there), and Alienware is behind in this department with no such feature that we know of baked in. However, if you're after a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:curved gaming monitor you'll be heading to Dell - unlike Samsung's previous form in the 1000+ R space, the Odyssey G8 is a flat screen, leaving 💙the Alienware AW3225QF the only option for those after🎃 a more immersive experience.

It's no surprise that these aren't going to be 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:cheap gaming monitors. Q𝓀D-OLED panels already command a high price tag and these first few steps into a 4K world aren't going to be budget-friendly. Not only that, but with 240Hz refresh rates packed into the UHD resolution and a whole plethora of extra KVM aꦍnd HDR features baked in, these panels are going to be for the enthusiasts.

We have, however, fallen in love with the super crisp QD-OLED panels we've seen so far - the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Alienware AW3423DW still sits at the top of our shopping list. With speedy panels and 4K resolutions, the🐼se monitors truly can do it all - and if you're in the market for an investment piece now's a fantastic time to jump in. After all, we've been waiting for 4K resolution, but 8K is still too far off to be thinking about. Refresh rates used to be low on 4K OLED panels, but 240Hz is a sweet spot we'll be happy at for a long time. There's nothing on the horizon to scare off potential upgraders - we'll just have to see who wins out of this three-way race.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> I’ve been keeping an eye out for Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 deals for ▨a while now, and Black Friday just made a fool out of me. Just last week, I was certain the ultrawide gaming monitor wouldn’t get any cheaper, but Amazon has just smashed it down under $1,000 in line with the big sale. We’re talking about a 2023 premium panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, so perhaps you’ll see why I didn’t think we’d be talking about a discount li♒ke this until 2024.

Over at Amazon, you’ll find the Samsung Odyssey OLED 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Friday gaming monitor deal in question, with a 38% discount knocking it down . I was previously impressed by🦩 an offer that brought it down to $1,099, as I figured $500 off appeared pretty generous. Keep in mind the older mini LED version is still kicking around for around $1,200 too, so i♔t’s needless to say the seasonal sale has outdone itself with this offer.

If you’ve been keeping up with our screen coverage, you’ll already know we think the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey G9 is the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitor on the OLED ultrawide battlefield. Not only will furnish your setup with𓄧 speedy 240Hz visuals, but it’s also dual QHD, so you’re effectively getting two 1440p monitors in one in terms of workspace. In addition, DisplayHDR True Black 400 features will help make the most of the panel’s superb contrast and color capabilities, enabling you to envelop yourself in ultra realistic surroundings at your desk.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 49-inch |
Save $600 - Just a few days ago, I was raving about how this screen was d🦄own to $1,099.99. However, Black Friday has knocked an additional $100 off bringing it down to a new record low, and it just goes to show you can never be too sure what the event will offer.

Buy it if:

You want cutting-edge specs
✅
You want a TV-sized OLED monitor
✅ You need a speedy refresh rate

Don't buy it if:

❌ You've not actually got the space
❌ You'd rather use a non-ultrawide 4K screen

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9?

Even with the above 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Friday deal applied, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G🍨9 is still a pricey panel, so it’s important to consider whether it’s a good fit for your setup. It’s also worth noting that I’d largely only recommend a curved monitor for desktop use, as the benefits are best enjoyed front facing rather 🍃than from afar.

That aside, the OLED G9 is going to gel with players looking for an immersive experience, and Samsung’s screen is arguably the next best thing to a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:VR headset. Sure, wearing a pair of virtual reality goggles is going to come up trumps, but surrounding yourself with panoramic visuals is a great alternative, and playing games like Cyberpunk 2077 with an ultrawide QHD resolution have truly tricked my senses in the past. Naturally, there are productivity benefits too since you’ll have double the screen 💫space compared to normal, but I’d rather talk about playing gritty RPGs than formulas and spreadsheets.

This screen has sat at $1,299 for most of the year, and I imagine it’s likely going to shoot back up once the Black Friday festivities are over. Therefore, you’ll want to be careful before hanging off, esp𒊎ecially since stock could run dry before the event is done. If you’re not too sure whether this display is a good fit yet, you’ll want to swing by our Black Friday curved monitor deals hub, as we’ll be rounding up all the best non-flat panels right through the week𝔉. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> I normally wait till Black Friday to start getting serious about QD-OLED monitor deals, but Amazon’s current 34-inch Samsung Odyssey G8 deal is worth talking about. Your bank account will still have to make peace with the fact it's a premium panel, and that n♔aturally means you’ll pay more. However, if you’re looking to embrace cutting edge screen tech while retaining other valuable gaming features, you shouldn’t stick your nose up at this offer. Not unless you want to end up over a grand after the things return to normal.

To bag the Samsung Odyssey G8 offer in question, you’ll want to swing by Amazon, as the early 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Friday gaming monitor deal knocks it dow🅷n . It’s all thanks to the retailer somewhat jumping the gun with a 40% discount, and I’m thoroughly impressed to see discounts like this ahead of the actual event. We’re talking about a new record low that brings the display down to further than previous price cuts, as I’m used to seeing it for over $900 even wh𒁏en discounts are applied.

I’m not going to pretend $899 isn’t a lot of a screen, and even the chonkiest of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Friday gaming deals can’t crash the premium party. Yet, it’s important to consider what the display provides before judging its price tag, as it’ll be a game changer for the right player. For starters, its QD-OLED panel is going to punch much harder than non quantum d༒ot screens in terms of contrast and color, all while maintaining super bright visuals that other OLEDs simply cannot.

Samsung Odyssey G8 34-inch |
Save $600 - Normally, this Odyssey OLED G8 screen doesn't go below $900 even when discounted. But hey, it's Black Friday season, so we're welcoming this premium panel discount with open arms. It hasn't j𒅌umped up to MꦡSRP for a while, but you'll often see it for over $1,200.

Buy it if:

You want better than vanilla OLED
✅
You want a speedy ultrawide screen

Don't buy it if:

❌ You'd rather play at 4K
❌ You want the fastest screen possible

The Odyssey OLED G8 should also be on your radar if you play FPS games competitively, as it boasts a 175🌌Hz refresh rate and rapid 0.03ms response time. Keep in mind it's also an ultrawide panel with smart TV shenanigans within too, so while there are speedier screens on the marker, this one arguably strikes a better balance between raw performance and pretty useful features.

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 before Black Friday?

Waiting till Black Friday to pick up anything tech related is often the right call, but I’d jump on this Odyssey OLED G8 deal sooner than later. The thrill of finding unbelievable offers during the offici🐟al sale will be worth risking stock issues down the line for some, and I can’t guarantee that smaller additional discounts won’t kick in.

What I can assure you of is that this QD-OLED panel offer is solid, and I’ll be low key jealous of anyone who picks one up. I’m currently playing 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Alan Wake 2 using an RTX 4080, so I’m currently teasing myself about what the experience would be like if I swapped my ordinary IPS display for the OLED G9. Simply put, it’d turn the horror romps remarkable visuals into a captivating, yet creepy canvas that’d put even the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitors to shame, even if it is capped at 1440p.

If you’re still 🍬weighing up different models, you’ll want to swing by our Black Friday QD-OLED deals hub for a selection of discounts. We’ve also got some of the best discounts available right now below, just in case you’re not sure how ♋far your money can stretch.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Samsung is launching a brand new external SSD that follows on from the poꦯpular T5 and T7 Series hard drives. Called the Samsung T9, the new hard drive comes in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities and has a quoted speed of up to 2,000MB/s.

The T9 Portable SSD will join the leagues of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best external hard drives for ga🍸ming since it can be used with Windows, Android, and Mac. Like any portable SSD however, you'll be able to format it to work as additional game storage for consoles, making it a new contender among the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best PS5 external hard drives, and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best💙 Xbox Series X external hard drives.

The T9 launche🍰s today, and the 1TB model costs £117.49. 2 terabytes will set you back £199.99, and the beefier 4TB model is priced at £362.79. We haven't been given confi🍃rmed US prices for the drive as of yet, but we'll update these when we hear more.

The new Samsung Portable SSD T9 has a carbon pattern design, featuring USB 3.2 Gen2x2 interface with max performance of up to 2,000MB/s. This updated interface gives it twice the speed of iꦫts predecessor, which launched back i🔥n 2020.

In the box, you get a USB-C to USB-A connection cable, ওas well as a USB-C to USB-C wire which will help you connect to more devices.

While portable SSDs like the T9 can be excellent for gaming thanks to their top-drawer speeds compared to HDD, Samsung notes that this device is perfect for content creators too. An increased TurboWr𓆉ite buffer size of 180GB for the 4TB model helps to maximize performance, even if the💫 drive is nearing capacity.

This TurboWrite feature aims to negate the problems that some other external SSDs have where they can only maintain their best performance for the initial capacity of the drive. TurboWrite is essentially a portable version of high-performance SLC found in the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best SSDs for gaming. The🏅 1TB version only has a 22GB buffer, however, and the 2TB features 88GB.

This sustained write performance is even said to be geared at shooting 8K or 12K video, because in fairness, we꧂'re all doing that on a daily basis. As you'll no doubt know yourself, 8K and 12K footage can be extremely demanding on your digital storage, so the T9 should be a big help to you in that regard.

But of course, external hard drives also need to be sturdy, as recovering data from them after physical damage can be a tricky and expensive business. The T9 is said to be able to withstand falls from up to three meters (9.8 feet), and its aluminiu♐m body is coated in a rubberized material that helps keep it resistant to scratches.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Your choice of gaming monitor could make or break your Starfield PC experience when it lands on Steam, but high spec screens often come with astronomical price tags. Thankfully, decent display discounts pop up fro🦩m time to time, and I’ve just come across a great 49-inch Samsung Odyssey curved ultrawide panel with $900 off. If you’re looking to invest in an immersive portable and traverse the stars using an immersive premium portal, this might be your chance.

Over at Amazon, you can now grab the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey G9 Curved Gaming Monitor , thanks to a 41% discount. While discounts on the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitors aren’t uncommon, this Samsung Odyssey display isn't too far off its lowest ever price, and it should pair nicely with 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming PC builds based on Bethesda’s 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Starfield system requirements. Not to mention it’s one of the biggest panels you can pair with your rig, meaning it’s great for non-gaming activities too. Y’know, for when you want to come back down to earth in between ga🅠ming sessions.

Sure, there are models out there that pack a bit more of a punch, like the newer 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED version, but there’s perhaps little sense in spending a chunk extra on specs that your 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:graphics card can’t handle. This particular Samsung Odyssey display boasts an ultrawide 1440p 240Hz QLED panel, HDR1000 support that’ll make S𝓡tarfield’s stars twinkle, and a tremendous 1800R curve that’ll feel like you’re actually sitting in a cockpit.

Samsung Odyssey G9|
Save $900 - This 49-inch curved ultrawide gaming monitor is perfect for anyone looking to immersive their senses playing the latest games, and it could be the perfect portal if you're looking to play Starfield on PC.

Buy if:
✅ You're looking for a premium 1440p display
✅ You're looking for an immersive Starfield screen
✅ You've got the space for a 49-inch monitor

Don't buy if:
❌ You're looking to play PC games at 4K
❌ You've got the budget to invest in a newer model

In addition to its colossal size and curvy capabilities, the Samsung Odyssey G9 also comes armed with a collection of gaming features that’ll make a difference. For starters, it’s armed with AMD FreeSync support, which should kick any stuttering when playing Starfield, or any of the latest PC games to the curb. It's also 240Hz, so it's going to feel good no matter what FPS game you play.

Naturally, not everyone is going to be able to afford a screen that’s over $1,000, but if your budget allows it, you won’t be disappointed with the Samsung Odyssey G9. This current deal means it’s one of the cheapest 49-inch curved ultrawide displays currently available, an🐼d playing S😼tarfield on this bad boy is going to spoil your eyes.

It's worth noting that the Samsung Odyssey G9 previously fell to $1,150.99 on the week of Black Friday 2022, but $1,299.99 is still a great price💖 outside of the sales period. Plus, if you're looking for a screen to play Starfield with well before November, it's probably worth grabbing the current discount rather than holding off. We've also only wi𝐆tnessed the screen fall to that level once, so there's no guarantee it'll drop further any time soon.

Should you buy a curved ultrawide gaming monitor?

It takes a little getting used to, but using a curved ultrawide gaming monitor will completely change the way you perceive PC games. I’m personally struggling to adjust to the flat life after recently using the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:LG UltraGear 45GR95QE-B, as the extra field of view and curva⛄ture trained my brain to filter out everything else surrounding the screen. I’m not saying a curved ultrawide monitor can compete with the best VR headset in terms of immersion, but it’s certainly the next best thing if you’re 𝓡not into virtual reality goggles.

If the Samsung Odyssey CRG9 featured above💎 isn't🧸 to your liking, we've got you covered, as there are other curved ultrawide deals to be had:

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Just when I thought PC gaming monitors couldn't get more epic, the new Samsung Odyssey OLED🍸 G9 (G95🅺SC) comes along and blows almost every other display into next week. This 49-inch ultrawide monster might just be the most visually stunning gaming panel I've ever used, but it's price will absolutely upset your bank account.

Coming in at $1,799 , some of the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9's stellar headline specs are actually familiar. I've tried several similarly proportioned 49-inch 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:ultrawide monitors with the same♑ outrageous 32:9 aspect curved panel format, 5,120 by 1,440-🧜pixel resolution, and 240Hz refresh before. They've even shared the Samsung Odyssey G9 branding, but they've all been LCD monitors. The big difference here? The use of OLED panel tech.

Of course, you can get even bigger OLED screens than this. But they're either actually TVs or use OLED panels pinched from TVs. You won't find a TV with a curved 32:9 aspect panel, that's for sure. This is a dedicated 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:curved monitor for PC gaming, not a♔ gussied-up TV, even if it does actually feature a full suite of smart TV features.

Design and Features

Speaking of dedicated PC gaming devices, it's worth noting that the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is just that, and therefore isn't a great choice for console gaming. Sure, it's got HDMI 2.1 connectivity so it will technically work as one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best monitors for PS5, but the 32:9 aspect ratio is probl𒉰ematic for those consoles and the 240Hz refresh is likewise redundant when no console currently goes beyond 120Hz.

Anyway, for most PC gaming applications, you'll probably want to use the DisplayPort interface. There is USB-C connectivity, but only as a USB hub rather than a display input with device charging. That's probably OK given this is expressly aimed at being one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming monitors, but it would still b💙e nice to have had the option to connect a laptop and charge with a single cabl🎀e.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 from the back, showing its connection ports and stand

(Image credit: Future / Jeremy Laird)

Another major feature is the smart hub. The Samsung TV Plus part of it supports all the usual streaming services and includes an IR remote with shortcuts to jump straight to Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney Plus (you even get six months' free membership to the latter thrown in). The only problem is that, again, TV content isn't a great fit with the 32:9 panel aspect. Most content you'll watch on one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming TVs is 16:9, so only half of the screen is used. Even feature films typically only max🉐 out at 2.35:1, so you're still left with large blac🌺k bars left and right.

Actually, that's not the only problem. The interface is a bit slow and clunky, and combined with a fairly baffling OSD menu that duplicates various controls for image quality in more than one menu, ease of use isn't🦩 exactly top-notch. Doing simple things like changing inputs or adjusting the brightness can involve an unnecessarily steep learning curve.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 menu screen

(Image credit: Future / Jeremy Laird)

Whatever, there's also the same Gaming Hub as you get on the latest Samsung TVs which supports game streaming from Microsoft, Nvidia et al. Again, the screen's aspect ratio isn't a great fit for those services, so💎 it's a feature that's best seen as a nice extra rather than a core functionality.

Still, one aspect that is an unqualified success is the styling. This thing looks like a million bucks with its slick, minimalist design and perfectly symmetrical bezels. There's also RGB lighting - if you like that kind of thing. But more importantly, the OLED G9 feels like a quality item. The only exception to that is the huge external power brick which plugs into the display with a very shonky barrel connector that feels like it's just waiting to break on you. The input ports are a little hard to get at, too, but that's not a problem you'll have to wrestle with too often - this isn't something you cꦛan move around easily.

Performance

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 49-inch panel up close

(Image credit: Future / Jeremy Laird)

Oh lordy, this thing is beautiful.

I've seen panel performance pretty much exactly like this before in the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Alienware 34 AW3423DWF, and more recently in the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:LG UltraGear 45GR95QE. The former of those two uses the same Samsung QD🌳-OLED technology and sports a glossy coating just like this OLED G9. The difference is scale. The Alienware📖 is hardly a minnow at 34 inches. But it's still puny next to the view-filling expanse of this 49-inch monster.

The temptation is to assume this kind of ultrawide monitor is a bit of a gimmick. It certainly is for watching TV and films. But for gaming? For gaming, the immersion levels are off the map. What's more, this Samsung QD-OLED tech really delivers over so much of the competition. Long story short, all current OLED gaming monitors either use LG or Samsung panel tech, and usually, you have to make a lot of excuses for monitors with LG panels. They can be limited when it comes to full-screen brightness and suffer from annoying and distracting issues around ABLs or automatic brightness limiters that make them suboptimal for use with the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming PCs.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 displaying a darker scene from Cyberpunk 2077

(Image credit: Future / Jeremy Laird)

None of that applies here. Samsung rates the full-screen brightness at 250 nits for the OLED G9 and if anythin🍃g it feels much p✃unchier than that. It also doesn't do any of that infuriating brightness dipping when you open a browser window, nor does it look dull in brighter game scenes like some LG panels. It always looks pretty punchy.

Then you fire up an HDR-capable game like Cyberpunk 2077 and this♏ thing slightly blows your mind. The HDR performance is epic, there's so much sizzle at the same time as perfect per-pixel lighting control and outrageous contrast, the latter heightened by the glossy panel coating. HDR gaming has been hyped for years, although typically, it has disappointed. But with this monitor, you can see what all the fuss is about. This is what HDR was always meant to be.

Of course, with 0.03ms response and 240Hz refresh, it's also ridiculously quick. Put simply, response and latency are non-issues on this monitor, provided you have one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best graphics cards at your dispos🧔al. In all honesty, you will absolutely need one to get the best out of this monitor.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 media remote control

(Image credit: Future / Jeremy Laird)

If there is a catch to all this it's that the resolution and pixel density are nothing special for a PC monitor. The overall pixel count is actually lower than 4K, which can be had pretty cheaply on a 27-inch monitor ൲these days. For gaming, the pixel density is fine. But for all-around computing, for things like nice crisp fonts and image detail, there are certainly superior options for the money.

The only remaining performance-related question mark involves the long-term durability of OLED technology and Samsung's OLED panel tech in pౠarticular. All of these emerging OLED gaming monitors are arguably a little bit too new to really know what the future holds. Will burn-in and image retention be a problem? That's hard to say. Samsung uses various technologies to prevent burn-in and this monitor comes with a full three-year warranty, so you're covered for at least that long.

Should you buy the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9's one obvious limitation is pixel density. But that was a known issue coming in. Moreover, this isn't a monitor aimed at content creation p❀ros. It's meant for gaming and, given that remit, the OLED G9 positively nails it.

The combination of the huge scale and the spectacular sizzle and speed of the QD-OLED panel makes for an unrivaled experience. It's both incredibly impactful and immersive, and it's better optimized for PC than one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best OLED TVs. Likewise, the OLED G9 blows away any LCD monitor with a mini-LED backlight for HDR performance. This, simply, is the stellar experience that HDR technology has long promised but hasn't ꦫ🧔previously delivered on PC.

The smart TV functionality, meanwhile, I can take or leave (it's worth noting that a cheaper version of this monitor without the smart features is coming soon and will probably make for a better buy for PC gamers) and this display also isn't a great choice for console gamers. But for P✱C gamers who can afford it, the OLED G9 is quite simply as good as gaming monitors currently get.

How I tested the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is all about gaming, so I ran it through a g♊auntlet of Steam titles including Cyberpunk 2077 for spectacular HDR visuals, Apex Legends to assess speed and response, and Total War to get a feel for how strategy titles work on such a wide panel.

I look for everything from brightness and contrast to accuracy, response, and latency and likewise, consider how this OLED panel compares 🅘to both its direct competitors and more conventional LCD-based displays. Performance on the Windows desktop is also tested, then I assess build quality, design, and features to arrive at a rounded picture of overall display performan𝓰ce and quality.

kicker.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> 4K gaming monitors are anything but cheap, and if you’re convinced you need one over a 1080p or 1440p display, you’ll want to go on the Prime Day hunt. While choosing an affordable UHD panel sometimes means trading away other valuable features to keep costs down, it is possible to have your specs cake and eat it. For example, I just stumbled across a Odyssey Neo 4K screen with a killer early Prime Day price tag, and ෴its refresh rate genuinely caught me off guard.

Over on Amazon right now, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 is down from $1,299.99 , thanks to a chonky 35% discount. The almost-澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day monitor deal knocks $450 off the original price of this premium 4K panel, and it also boasts 165Hz capabilities. The latter refresh rate prompted me to double check the screen’s specs, as display in thi🍒s price range normally tap out at 144Hz. Yet, its speeds hold true, and you can now grab wh𝐆at I’d consider one of the highest-spec screens out there for substantially less than $1,000.

Of course, we’re talking about one of Samsung’s Odyssey Neo displays, so you’ll be investing in more than just a high refresh rate and resolution. Armed with a curved mini LED screen and HDR 2000 abilities, this panel looks like a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitor portal to another world compared to standard models. Immersion is the name of the game with the Neo G7, and it also boasts a Coresync lighting system that’ll drench your desk color. Don’t worry, your Steam library won’t come to life like in Jumanji, but your brain might think that’s the🧸 case💛 for a split second.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 | $1,299.99
Save $450 - If you're looking for premium monitor specs that pack a punch, the Odyssey Neo G7 deserves your attention. You're going to need a high end graphics card to make full use of this 4K 165Hz kaiju, but it 🍨offers incredible mini LED specs and immersive features for under $1,000.

Price check:

Admittedly, $850 is still a lot to pay for a display, especially if you’re not rocking a graphics card like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Nvidia RTX 4090. I’ve already delved into why it’s okay to buy a 1080p monitor this Prime Day, and that same advice applie🙈s here, but it’s sometimes more helpful🅷 to play devil’s advocate.

I still wouldn’t recommend picking up something you can’t make full use of, even if it is a whopping 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Prime Day gaming deal, but if you are working towards a high-spec setup, picking up the Odyssey Neo G7 will contribute to your efforts. The higher-than-average refresh rate sweetens the deal too, as it means you’ll feel the benefits even if your PC or console game of choice can’t quite pull of🐽f 4K at h🐓igher frame rates.

Thankfully, Samsung’s 4K kaiju isn’t the only discounted display ahead of Prime Day, as the 1080p and 1440p ar🌸e also available for less. You’ll find some of the best offers down below, so feel free to peruse if you’re looking for tamer specs and even lower prices.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung QN85C is a sophisticated Neo QLED screen that uses a Mini LED backlight. More effective than a traditional full ✅array, Mini LED delivers higher HDR peak brightness and far better black level p♓recision, thanks to intelligently controlled clusters of multiple tiny LEDs.

The big surprise is just how good this set’s black-level performance is. It's not all that common for even the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best QLED TVs to close the gap on OLED, which until now has had a monopoly on true black. Mini LED also happens to be immune from image reten🌺tion, which is another tick in the win column.

Picture and sound are governed by Samsung’s 4k Neural Quantum processor, which utilizes AI and Machine Learning techniques, to varying degrees of success. All four HDMI inputs are 4k 120Hz capable, with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support and a Gaming Hub and UI🍸 which keeps everything of interest in one place.

If you weren't sold already, perhaps the best news is the price, which is competitive for such a high-spec screen. This is a sure-fire contender for the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming TV.

Samsung QN85C Price & Availability

Available now, the QN85C comes in 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch screen sizes (55QN85C, 65QN85C, 75QN85C, and QN85C) priced at it’ll cost $149ඣ9, $1999, $2499, and $3799

I’m testing the 65-inch model here.

Also available in the UK in the same screen sizes, it'll cost £1,599, £2,099, £3,599, and £4,699 respectively. Australian buyers will find the same 55, 65, 77, and 83 i꧙nch models priced AUS$2,199, AUS$2,799, AUS$3,299 and AUS$4,499 respectively.

Design and Features

The QN85C looks smart, but admittedly does pay a toll for its backlight technology, having a depth of 28mm depth. The silver-grey bezel is predictably thin though, with a small Samsung badge placed bottom right ofꦡ the screen. The panel sits on a static, central stand, which makes it very easy to accommodate on regular AV furniture if you’re not wall-mounting.

Around the back are four HDMI inputs. All support 4k 120HZ sources, with HDMI 3 eARC enabled. Given that many rival sets still only offer two 4k 120HZ capable inputs (including Sony, Philips, and Panasonic) this is a big selling point. The QN85C is also AMD Freesync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync compatible, making it a viable display if you want to hook up one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming PCs.

Additional connectivity includes an optical digital output, Ethernet, two USB ports, and a CI card slot. There’s a choice of both terrestrial aerial or satellite dish feed. Wireless connectivity covers Bluetooth and dual-ban🐠d Wi-Fi.

Closer inspection of the rear panel also reveals speakers top left and right, for Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound system. These join side and downward-firing d🧔rivers and effectively create a six-channel wall of sound. The TV comes with two remote controls: a simplified, more stylish controller and a traditional zapper. Both have dedicated buttons for Netflix, Prime Video, Samsung TV Plus, and Disney+.

These shortcuts are just the tip of the streaming iceberg. Samsung’s Tizen smart platform is extremely well served with premium VoD and Catch-up apps, including BBC iPlayer, ITVx, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube, All Four, MyFive, and Samsung TV Pl𒆙us. The latter is Samsung’s own channel bouquet of FAST (Free Advertising Supported TV) channels.

The Tizen home page features a horizontal scrolling bar that populates with your chosen services. Below are curated content recommendations and other viewing options. I found it very easy to operate. Off to the right is a vertical menu for Search, Ambient optio♛ns, Game, and Media playback.

Of particular interest in all this is a dedicated Gaming Hub, which gathers together cloud gaming services, including Xbox, Utomik, and Twitch, alongside your connected consoles. This minimizes the amount of menu diving you need to do, making it an enthusiast's pick for the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best TV for PS5. There’s also a pop-up gaming interไface that collects together key settings, like input lag, VRR, and HDR stat🎃us.

Samsung QN85C: Performance

I was🌺 expecting a lot from the Samsung QN85C in terms of performance. I got even more.

Samsung’s Quantum Mini LED b🧔acklight execution here is nothing short of a revelation. The QN85C manages to avoid uneven halos and even delivers a convincing black level in letterbox movie bars.

As this is the cheapest Mini LED in Samsung’s Neo QLED I feared it wouldn’t have the same level of HDR snap 🧜found higher up the Neo QLED range. While it’s certainly not as bright as its stablemates, it still packs a punch, with a bright average picture level.

When setting up HDR on my PS5, I actually winced at the full-field white. Thankfully, with ꦐreal-world footage, the balance becomes far more approachable. Peak HDR brightness was measured at just under 1100 nits with a 10 percent measurement window. This means peak HDR highlights are largely delivered w𒁃ithout compromise, giving images real dimensional depth.

The caveat is there’s no support for Dolby Vision, which if you’re a movie lover could be a deal breaker. Given that most of the content I watch on Ne🌟tflix and Disney+ is Dolby Vis𒐪ion encoded, I can’t help feeling I’m missing out. Obviously, this impacts Dolby Vision-encoded games as well.

What we do get is HDR 10 and HDR10+, as favored by Prꦛime Video. Local dimming is variable, but for the best contrast, I opted for Low. Naturally, the set triggers Game mode when a console is connected, but you might want to activate HDR in the Game Picture Expert settings to prevent the picture from looking overly bright.

At the heart of the QN85C’s picture performance is Samsung’s latest Neural Quantum Processor 4K. This silicon takes advantage of AI and neural networks to optimize images on a scene-by-scene basis. You can leave the TV on Intelligent Picture mode, and it’ll manage brightness, contrast, and detail, adjusting for ꧑the content type. For most viewers, this is a pain-free route to consistent performance - but there is a caveat when it comes to audio performance (more anon).

There are of course more traditional image presets also available, including Standard, Eco, Movie, Filmmaker mode, and Dynamic. I generally left the set on Standard, as it looked consistently good. The Dynamic mode predictably oversaturatꦛes reds and blues, although whites🎉 really pop (which could be good for anime, potentially).

Samsung QN85C's Game mode settings

When it comes to overall picture level brightness, I noted a significant difference between Standard and Eco settings. The𝐆 former makes good use of the set’s native luminosity💙, while Eco is far more in line with Movie and Filmmaker modes, albeit without their color temperature bias.

The QN85C is bright enough for gaming and general viewing in a brightly lit room but also avoids that insipid greyness that can cloud an LED set when the lighting goes down. The TV comes into its own as a gaming display. 120FPS gameplay is as smooth and detailed as the very 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best 120Hz 4K TVs.

Samsung actually offers two Game settings, one with most settings disabled, and another which reinstates some processing to maximize pi🎐cture quality. With the latter, dubbed Game Motion Plus, input lag was measured at a tardy 25ms. If you opt for the more pure approach of the default Game mode, this drops to an impressive 9.4ms (1080/60). There are also Virtual Game Point crosshairs should you need them, and Minimap Zoom.

That OTS speaker configuration copes well when things get busy - even with chaotic FPS action. There’s no shortage of volume, thanks to 60W of amplification. The set is also compatible𓃲 with Samsung Q-Symphony soundbars. When partnered, the🌱 set’s own speakers work in tandem with those in the Q-Symphony soundbar, and the results can be quite impressive.

I reckon the distributed audio of Samsung’s OTS sound system is good enough to defer any immediate investment in one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming sound systems. T🔥here’s a good deal of sound steerage, and it🌠's suitably immersive with Dolby Atmos movies and cinematic TV shows (the soundstage is tall and wide).

However, while I could live with the QN85C’s Intelligent Mode for video, I was less impressed with how AI manage💟d audio. I found the Intelligent audio mode overly dialogue focused, and the Amplify setting is really harsh. M෴y advice is to stick with regular audio settings.

Should you buy the Samsung QN85C?

The 65-inch Samsung QN85C is a great proposition for both gamers and movie fans. It manag🍨es that rare feat of delivering on both fronts, with a fully loaded HDMI input board that doesn’t limit 4K 120HZ playback and a dynamic HDR performance that rewards movie fans.

The lack of Dolby Vision is an obvious omission, but at least the QN85C’s peak HDR potꦕential goes a long way to mitigating any onerous tone mapping. Excellent color fidelity and bright room pizzazz are the icing on the cake.

I also really like the Tizen smart platform. It’s intuitive and powerful. All the key streaming apps are readily available and the provision of that Gaming Hub, which groups together cl🗹oud services and connected services is pretty cool too.

How we tested the Samsung QN85C

As the entry-level Mini LED screen in the Samsung 2023 range, we took a long look at the impact of the set’s backlighting tech. The TV’s HDR performance was🥂 measured usin🐷g industry-standard test patches at both 5 and 10 percent sizes, and picture quality was assessed in both bright and dark room environments with a variety of sources, including UHD Blu-ray, 4K media streamers, and consoles.

Samsung’s Tizen smart platform was checked for smart app compliance aওnd catch-up TV support.

Finally, the screen’s built-in sound system w🐻as evaluated with Dolby Atmos test clips, and content streamed from Netflix and Disney+.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Since the notion of an 8K TV was first introduced, the price ha♈s remained so extraordinarily expensive that many of us could never afford to make the upgrade. That looks to be changing as we've now seen a Samsung 8K TV fall under the $1,000 mark for the first time ever.

Best Buy is offering🌱 the deal for a stunning 55-inch Samsung QN700B NEO QLED 8K Smart TV for . This represents a huge saving of $1,000 and dropping the cost of the model by half-price – something you simply don't see every day. The average price for an 8K TV is usually closer to the $3,000 mark in our experience, so seeing the technology fall in price to this extent is mind-boggling.

We're constantly searching the web for the best 8K TVs for gaming, movies, and entertainment with the Samsung QN900A topping our list of recommendati🐠ons. In comparison, the cheapest we can find that model right now is for a 65-inch version at Walmart, meaning there's an almost $1,500 difference in cost between the two. With that, this Samsungꦛ QN700B deal isn't one to be overlooked and will likely go fast.

Today's best Samsung TV deal

Samsung QN700B Neo QLED 8K Smart TV | 55-inch |
Save $1,000 - Now half-price off and already cheaper than the majority of 8K TVs on the market, this Samsung QN700B has never been cheaper in our experience. This is also the first time we've seen an 8K model drop under $1.000.

The specs for the Samsung QN700B are as impressive as they come, with 8K resolution (equates to 4320p), a 60Hz refresh rate, Dolby Atmos Support, Quantum Dot technology (which gives you enhanced colour and brightness)🅰, alongside a stunning NEO QLED screen. It is worth noting that 8K is certainly an investment in futureproofing, since 8K resolution is not hugely supported as of yet. However, both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have HDMI 2.1, meaning they could potentially support 8K at some point in the future, and this is something Sony and Microsoft have confirmed the📖ir intentions of.

A cheaper alternative from Samsung is one🧸 of its 4K TVs, which takes advantage of everything from movies to streaming to video games. This 43-inch Samsung Class Tu690T LED 4K UHD Smart TV is now down at Best Buy. It's one of the cheapest ways to get a 4K model without having to break the bank.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the brand's latest premium tablet turned up to 11. Actually, let’s𓆏 make that 14.6 because that's how many inches the screen measures. It's Samsung's largest-ever tablet and outsizes Apple’s largest 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

In tandem with Samsung Dex mode, where you get a Chromebook-like adjustment to the operating system,🧔 it's clear Samsung wants you to be able to do as much as possible with a single device. Much in the same way that Apple has been aiming for for a while now, especially with the Stage mode on its M2 devices - which is still working out the kin✃ks as things stand.

Actually, the closeness to Apple's ambitions stretches a little bit further. It would seem Samsung has thrown caution to the wind and has not been afraid to charge a serious amount of cash and then ask for even more to get the full experience if you want the official keyboard cover. When it comes to the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming tablets🐎, though - how does Samsung stack up agai🧸nst the competition?

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: price

Sitting down? The price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra starts at $1099/£999. And while that doesn’t include the keyboard cover, you do get the Samsung S Pen at no extra cost. The Pen is worth $59/£49, is a nice inclusion, and one I wish 𝐆Apple would follow on the iPad Pros.

The keyboard book cover - hey I told you to sit down - is $349/£299. During the pre-order phase, Samsung was throwing it in♔ for free, but since then it’s been sold separately and has rarely had any sort of discount even after all this time, a year after release. I’ll go into detail later on about what it’s like to use, but at that price, I’d certainly be eyeing up 𝄹third-party bluetooth keyboards as you can get decent ones from around $50.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: display and gaming

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is huge. With a 14.6-inch screen, it far exceeds even the largest iPad Pro and Samsung is aiming for a mix of a laptop experience and a tablet, but can it succeed, especially at such a high entry price, when it doesn’t even come wit🌺h a keyboard?

The Tab S8 Ultra is undeniably an incredible media player and despite not having an OL🌼ED screen, it carries the deepest blacks I’ve ever seen on a tablet. So much so it’s made an excellent bedroom TV over my few weeks of testing. At night, the image just hovers in the darkness - excellent.

The slick display is great for Call of Duty Mobile and I was able to crank up the settings to max without issue. On Diablo Immortal, I was slightly disappointed as I wasn’t able to set the resolution to ultra settings. High yes, ultra no. And this did actually make a difference compared to playing on a 2020 iPad Pro (which can do ultra) as the large display on the Samsung showed up the lower resolution a little. Put the tablet on a table though and get a bit of distance, play with a controller and this becomes much less of an issue. And in fairness, the tablet feels too big to play games on without a controller. Unless it’s something a little more chilled that doesn’t have control inputs that try to mimic a controller on-screen. Serene puzzlers like Monument Valley w🎀ork very nicely for example.

Four speakers provide significantly more punch than your average tablet and I had no issue with them at all for movies, video calls, gaming or listening to music with the audio coming through clearly in handheld mode or when propped up several feet away on a coffee table. Annoyingly, as with most Samsung devices, you’ll have to dig through the settings and turn on Dolby Atmos as it’s still turned off by default. And you’ll want it on as it creates a much more immersive exp🎐erience that makes it sound like there is suddenly a collection of extra speakers opening up.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

(Image credit: GamesRadar / Brendan Griffiths)

What about general use?

For day to day use, the Tab S8 Ultra looks fantastic when browsing the web and is great for watching content on YouTube or reading longer articles as you can read much more at once without scrolling compared to regular tablets. When r🦩eading, it might be tempting to hold it vertically like you normally would with a tablet, but the large size does make it a little unwieldy for longer sessions.

It’s remarkably light for its size, and very thin, but can get a little top heavy when holding vertically. Unless you’re able to prop it up against your knees if reading in🌠 bed, sprawled across a sofa or perhaps against a crossed leg if sitting normally. I actually found it was a bit easier to handle when holding horizontally, which does of course add some extra vertical scrolling, but there’s still a good amount of space in this view too really.

The included S Pen stylus will be of most interest to a𓄧rtistic types and the input lag is exceptionally low. Pair it with that expansive screen and it can be an excellent digital canvas. The Pen itself is of a decent size and very comfortable to hold - especially compared to the stick thin stylus found on high-end Galaxy phones. It also magnetically attaches to the back of the tablet and charges there too rather than needing to be plugged in.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

(Image credit: GamesRadar / Brendan Griffiths)

You can of course us💞e the Pen to take notes if you don’t want to just type them out. It’s also handy for scrawling notes and images on collaborated designs and such if you’re in that line of work. There is a feature where your handwriting can be translated into real, editable text but this is still a long way from being reliable. So much so that I’d spend more time fixing it than it would have taken to just write it on the on-screen keyboard as normal. To be fair, my handwriting ꦐis absolutely awful and a day or two later I’ve no idea what I wrote half the time, so I’m willing to give Samsung a break here.

Something you might want to consider that has changed since the Tab S8 Ultra first launched, and won’t have been a thing on the original reviews, is the general user interface. When the Android 12L update rolled out, it introduced a taskbar along the bottom of the screen to make it a bit more like a laptop. If you have an updated 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 or Fold 4, you’ll have spotted it there too.

It’s a great addition and makes switching to your favorite apps much easier as you can have recent or favorites available anytime. The icons are quite small though, and if you’re holding the tablet in your lap, they can sometimes be obstructed by as little as a natural fold of your shirt around the stomach and due to the sheer size of the tablet, they’re just not in a very natural position. It would be much better if you could pin it to the side really as switching via a 🍎quick thumb tap would be much more intuitive.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

(Image credit: GamesRadar / Brendan Griffiths)

So can the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra replace your laptop?

Well, it’s still a no. If you’re a Chromebook user, you’re probably a bit closer than a Windows user to making it work, but the overall experience, even when attaching a secondary monitor via a hub 🎃(or via USB if you have a USB-C monitor) is still a somewhat janky experience.

My review unit included the official keyboard cover and as nice as it is, it’s just way too overpriced. The low-profile keys are excellent, responsive to the touch, and have a satisfying but subtle clicking for you to bounce off of. There’s a decent-sized trackpad on it, although I’d almo𝔉st always opt for a bluetooth mouse instead unless I was traveling extra light.

The keyboard doubles up as a screen cover and a rear kickstand too. The Surface-esque kickstand is very sturdy on tables and supports a strong range of angles so you can get it just right. Like Surface deꦜvices though, this thin keyboard and angled kickstand design aren’t very comfortable to use on your lap as it’s not stable enough. I can’t say that bothers me much though as I generally use a desk most of the time.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

(Image credit: GamesRadar / Brendan Griffiths)

That epic 14.6-inch display is great though and bigger than the displays on the last two work laptops I’ve had. If I’m having a heavy Google Sheets day (welcome to management, kids), I can get much more d🐽one without🤡 an external monitor than I can on my tiny Surface Laptop Go.

If I was keeping this review unit, I could see myself phasing out my other laptop as a lot of my work is already tied into Google’s ecosystem of apps. I rarely🌌 have to edit images nowadays, so if your line of work mainly requires Docs, Sheets, Chrome, and Gmail, you could make a good go of it with the Tab S8 Ultra. It’s when you need something else though and have to cross your fingers and toes that a) there’s an app for it on the Play Store and b) that it has a decent tablet version and not just a gross mobile-esque vertical app on screen.

There’s undeniably a lot of power here so multitasking won’t ever be a problem, but I can’t pretend the Google Play Store supports enoug♕h apps for creatives that might be considering the Tab S8 Ultra and when you’re looking at these sort of prices, you’re more than likely going to be more tempted by a MacBook Air or if you’re something of a Samsung superfan, maybe the new line of Galaxy Book 3 models which run on Windows.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

(Image credit: GamesRadar / Brendan Griffiths)

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: battery life

For general use like browsing the web with a bit of YouTube, or standard work tasks o✱n Chrome, Google Sheets/Docs I was getting just over nine hours of use from a single charge. Throw in🐎 some heavy-duty gaming with settings cranked up then that could drop to something more like seven. General movie streaming seemed to come in around the nine-hour mark too, which seems very solid.

Yes, you might find the iPad an🅷d iPad Pro last an hour🤡 or two longer but bear in mind Samsung’s powering a 14.9-inch screen here while Apple’s largest tops out at 12.9.

Overall - should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra?

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

(Image credit: GamesRadar / Brendan Griffiths)

It’s a hell of a lot of money, and if you’re buying a tablet this powerful you have to pair it up with a keyboard to get the most from it. If you’re sticking to Google’s own office apps for work tasks though, the Tab S8 Ultra is more than capable of handling it, but then again, so is a Chromebook for half the price. And yet, despite all this, it’s hard to resist the sheer size and quality of the display especially if you’re going to stream a lot of video content on it too. The overall limitations of Google’s Play Store and Dex mode mean that tr😼aditional laptops will still be the smarter choice for most users, but we’re certainly getting closer to hybrid devices like this taking the lead in the near future.

How I tested the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra

I used the tablet for both entertainment and work on and off for a few weeks. Diablo Immortal and COD: Mobile were my main games for testing as I’ve played those titles on a range of devices and they support a wide range of visual settings. My old bedroom TV gave up the ghost recently, so I used the tablet extensively to stream TV and movie content on a table a few feet away, and the screen held up remarkably well. So much so I’d happily skip replacing the TV and just use this instead. As for work, I used the device on its own for anything that didn’t require much typing, but I mainly paired it with the official keyboard cover and completed several full work days with this setup and also a few atta▨ching an extra display via a dock.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> It's been a long old wait for OLED tech to make the jump from TVs to PC monitors, but it's finally happening, and the Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 is the latest to jump on the OLED train. And it's a 45-inch monster of a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitor.

OLED screen tech sourced from LG is the main attraction here. It's a 45-inch panel, which is huge for a PC monitor. It's extremely quick too, thanks to 240Hz refresh and OLED's characteristically💞 bonkers-fast response times. With just 3,440 by 1,440 pixels, however, it's not terribly hi🐎gh resolution for such a large screen.

OLED tech aside, the Xeneon Flex stands apart courtesy of its novel flexible panel. You can manually adjust this screen from completely flat all the way to an extreme 800R curve. For context, the previous king of the curve, the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey Neo G9, only manages 1000R. So at fullဣ flex, this monitor sets a new stan🎃dard in that regard at least.

Elsewhere, there's good connectivity including USB-C with power delivery, DisplayPort, and HDMI. So, it's ready to rock with both PCs and consoles. All told, this is no thinly disguised OLED TV, which is arguably an accusation you could level at some other large form factor OLED monitors. OK, some TV-rela🉐ted genes remain. But Corsair has put some pretty serious engineering effort into making this a proper PC monitor. Time to find out if 🅘that work has paid off.

Design & Features

The sheer scale of the Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 is the first thing that hits you. Sure, we've seen plenty of big monitors before, many of which are very much TV-based. The thing about the Xeneon Flex is that it combines that 45-inch diagonal with a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio, which isn't something you'd normally associate with a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming TV.

Then there's the "flex" feature. Using handles on each side of the panel, you manually heave the screen to your preferred angle of bend. In all candour, the process feels a bit jan🦹ky and the mechanism a little fragile. In theory, the handles are supposed to "click" when you have reached full flex, ensuring you achieve a symmetrical bend across the panel. In practice, it's all a bit hit-and-miss.

To be clear, this monitor generally looks and feels very nicely put together. But the "flex" feature itself doesn't inspire a huge amount of confidence, which might in part be a consequence of novelty. Still, the all-in-one package of an 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:ultrawide monitor that can become a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:curved gaming monitor is something some folks might reli﷽sh and live for.

One aspect that certainly is welcome involves the effort Corsair has made to ensure the longevity🍬 of the OLED panel. Pixel burn-in is the great fear with any OLED panel and Corsair has implemented multip🦩le mitigations in response. That includes a full-panel resolution of 3,456 by 1,456 pixels, slightly more than the display resolution of 3,440 by 1,440, thereby allowing the image to be shifted regularly and avoid a persistent image being displayed by any pixels. All told, Corsair backs the Xeneon Flex with a three-year Zero Burn in and Zero Dead Pixel Warranty.

As for connectivity, dual HDMI 2.1 ports mean it can be deployed (resolution compromises taken into account) as a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:PS5 monitor or 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Xbox Series X monitor, while DisplayPort and USB-C will do the job for a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming PC or 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming laptop. The latter connection supports 90W power delivery, allowing a laptop to drive the di꧒splay and charge with a single cable. Four USB-A socke♑ts are also built into the stand, two on the rear and two on the front, creating a very useful and ergonomic hub arrangement.

Performance

Corsair makes some pretty impressive performance claims for the Xeneon Flex. ⛦Along with 240Hz refresh, the OLED panel is rated at 0.03ms for grey-to-grey pixel response and 0.1ms for full on-off. No LCD-based screen even comes close to those response figures.

It's a pretty color-accurate panel too, with claimed 98.5 percent coverage of the demanding DCI-P3 digital cinema gamut, plus 96.3 percent coverage of Adobe RGB. Then there's 1.5M:1 contrast, a consequence of the pretty much perfect per-pixel li♏ghting control of OLED technology.

However, there are a couple of slightly trickier areas of the spec sheet which impact performance, both of which arguably come with the territoꦐry in OLED land. Firstly, while Corsair rates the panel's peak brightness at a punchy 1,000nits, the detailed picture is, well, a bit more complicated.

Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 OLED monitor

That 1,000 nits can only be achieved in a small patch three percent patch of the screen. T𒉰he panel can hﷺit 800 nits over 10 percent of the panel, 450 nits over 25 percent, and just 150 nits full screen. Hold that thought for a moment.

The other issue is the sub-pixel layout. Typical PC monitors use an RGB or red, green, and blue subpixel payout and indeed various aspects of the Windows interface, including fonts, are rendered with that assumption in mind. The Xeneon Flex. however, u♔ses LG's typical RWBG layout, where the 'W" indicates an additional white subpixel to boost brightness.

Long story short, it's suboptimal for general computing, especially given the big, fat pixels that result from the relatively low resolution on 𒀰such a large screen. But actually in-game or watching video, it probably doesn't matter.

Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 OLED monitor

What does matter is the brightness problem. In darker game scenes like, say, a dingy indoor bar in Cyberpunk 2077, the Xeneon Flex looks pretty great. The neon signs behind the bar really pop, the bla😼ck levels are fabulous, and there's non of the glow or hal🎉o-ing around brighter objects that you can get with mini-LED-driven LCD monitors.

On the other hand, head outside into the bright sunlight, and the screen just can'tꦇ sustain those highs across the whole panel. Whether it's the aforementioned Cyberpunk, your favourite racing sim, shooter, or strategy title, the brighter the scene, the more disappointing the result. This monitor just isn't terribly punchy when rendering brighter images and scenes.

Notably, the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Alienware AW3423DW, which uses Samsung rather than LG panel tech, is very definitely better when it comes to full-screen brightness. That's a pity because, in many other regards, the Xeneon Flex is pretty st✅ellar. The scale of the 45-inch panel is obviously pretty epic. And the pixel response is to die for, and there's so little motion blur. Add in the 240Hz refresh, and this is quite the experience for playing online shooters like Apex Legends, CS:🌱 Go and Fortnite, it really is.

Overall - should you buy it?

With a few caveats, you can make a decent case for the Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240. It's huge, mostly very well-engineered, incredꦚibly quick, and looks spectacular with the right content.

Problem is, it does have to be the right content. It only really delivers the full HDR experience with darker images contrasted by small bright objects. The Xeneon Flex's full-screen pop is disappointing. The low resolution isn't great when it comes to using this screen as a conventional monitor for general comp🗹uting, either.

Then consider the fact that you can get a full 4K OLED TV for a lot less money and the Xeneon Flex's overall proposition is even harder to justify. Sure, a 40-something-inch TV will lack several features like USB-C and DisplayPort. It'll run at half the 🌃refresh, too. But itꦚ'll also cost half the money and that's impossible to ignore.

It's an intriguing monitꦑor, the Corsair Xeneon Flex🏅 45WQHD240. And it does some things very well indeed. But it's just too flawed and at around $2,000 / £2,100 too expensive to recommend.

How we tested the Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240

The OLED revolution has begun and with it comes a new approach to assessing image quality. OLED screens deliver per-pixel lighting and that makes judging brightness tricky. We assess brightness both with test images and real-world gaming and media consumption to uncover both the hard n🍒umbers and the actual gaming experience. We also consider all the usual metrics, including response times, latency, connectivity, and more.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> If the new Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 even comes close to being the sum of it🎶s impressive parts, this is going to be one heck of a gaming monitor. This 4K beauty runs at up to 240Hz refresh, packs a mini-LED backlight with 1,196 zones, can hit 2,000 nits of brightness, and achieves 1ms response times.

Of course, numbers like that don't come cheap. However, at $1,299, or £1,300 in the UK, the Neo G8 perhaps isn't quite as pricey as it could have been. Easily affordable it ain't. But if it delivers an experience that delivers on those specs, it might still add up as a long-term investment as a top 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming monitor or 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:4K gaming monitor.

Also worthy of your consideration is the relatively tight 1000R curve of the Neo G8's VA panel. Curved gaming screens aren't for everyone and that's especially true of this 32-inch 16:9 aspect screen. On the G8's much bigger 49-inch sibling, the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Odyssey Neo G9, a gargantuan 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:ultrawide monitor, the wrap-around thing really works. On this smaller, more conventionally proportioned scale, it's more debatable. You might also factor in the G8's lack of USB-C connectivi💃ty. For sure, the idea of single-cable laptop connectivity is less of an immediate conಌsideration for gaming than general computing. But at this price point, it remains a conspicuous omission.

Design & Features

Anyone familiar with the daddy of Samsung Odyssey monitors, the Neo G9, will immediately recognise the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. It sports exactly the same 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:curved gaming monitor design langu🌟age including a mix of black 🐓and glossy white plastics, plus an RGB LED lighting system with Samsung's signature glowing ring on the rear where the stand clips into the display.

It looks properly premium, to be sure. However, the actual build quality doesn༺'t feel all that robust. Give the screen a light push and it will rock back and forth. It's not exactly catflap-in-a-tornado, but it's less stable than you might expect at th🍌is price point.

Sticking with the negatives, the aforementioned lack of USB-C connectivity stings a bit, too. It's true that USB-C power delivery currently tops out at 100W. That's not sufficient to keep a proper 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming laptop fully juiced. 𒐪But at this price point, it's reasonable to expect a screen that boasts pretty broad bandwidth from a usability perspective. In that context, no USB-C hurts a bit.

Still, you do get both DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces. Indeed there are two of the latter in HDMI 2.1 spec and with DSC Display Stream Compression support. That allows for 240Hz operation over HDMI at the full 4K resolution of 3,840 by 2,160 pixels. Nice, not that you need 240Hz for console gaming, but those two HDMI 2.1 ports will of course do the full 4k @120Hz thing making this a great option for a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:PS5 monitor or 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Xbox Series X monitor. Add in♕ that DisplayPort interface and you have the perfect dual-format screen for PC and con💫sole fun.

It's also worth noting that Samsung has, as ever, gone for VA rather than IP⭕S panel tech with the Neo G8, including quantum dot enhancement for even more vibrant colours. Nearly to a man, the high-refresh 4K competition uses IPS panel tech. Typically, VA delivers better contrast and richer colours than IPS at the cost of speed. But Samsung has delivered VA monitors as quick as the best IPS screens of late, so thatꦰ isn't always the case.

Of course, along with the eye-poppin𝐆g combination of 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh, the Neo G8's other part𝓰y trick involves a 1,196-zone mini-LED backlight. It's sufficient for Samsung to claim a peak brightness of fully 2,000 nits in some circumstances. That's scary bright.

Performance

If the spec list of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 raises expectations, they're also tempered by the memory of the Samsung Odyssey N🅰eo G9, another epic mini-LED powered monitor that suffered from some fairly 💃serious issues.

For sure, the Neo G8 does some things very, very well. The pixel response is outstanding, as good as if not better than any IPS monitor. Only OLED screens like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Alienware AW3423DW are quicker. The only slightly frustrating catch is🌃 that the Neo G8 does not allow pixel overdrive and adaptive refresh at the same time, ostensibly forcing you to choose between rendering smoothne🐼ss and speed. In practice, even with overdrive off, the G8 is very quick.

The 240Hz refresh also delivers super low latency provided you have one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best graphics cards that's fast enough to deliver💟 you high frame rates at the 4K resolution of the G8. If you have, the G8 can do things few, if any other, monitors can manage. It can deliver ultra-low lag for that critical CS:GO session and then turn on its heels and do epic detail for a Total W💫ar adventure or stunning HDR visuals in something like Cyberpunk 2077.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 gaming monitor

Yep, it truly is capable of stunning HDR visuals, which is not somet🌠hing you can say about most so-called HDR monitors. But with that capability also come problems. The G8's VA panel has outstanding inherent contrast. It's about three times better than any IPS screen in that regard. But the fancy mini-LED backlight can be frustrating.

In SDR mode on the Windows desktop, you can see the various zones adjusting to Samsung's algorithms and generally doi🦋ng odd things, lighting up parts of the display and dimming others in a slightly intrusive, clunky manner. Th🌠e local dimming can be disabled in SDR mode but it's absolutely essential for HDR performance.

Now, it's true that the sense of the backl𒀰ight doing clunky things is far less apparent when viewing HDR content or playing games. But in our testing, the G8 never came close to the advertised 2,000 nits. It still delivered a much punchier and more convincing HDR experience than most HDR monitors. But the reality is that even 1,196 dimming zones is rudimentary compared to a 4K OLED panel where each of its eight million pixels is individually controlled for lighting. In most regards, OLED is just a whole lot better for HDR performance.

Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 gaming monitor

Overall - should you buy it?

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 delights and frustrates in equal measure. That 240Hz and 4K combo is one heck of a party trick and means this i♛s one of the few monitors that can cope with proper hair-trigger online gaming and do justice to eye candy-orientated games that thrive on lots of pixels and true HDR capability. That's quite a package.

The problem is that even the most advanced mini-LED backlight, which is what the Neo G8 offers, is a bit clunky compared to the per-pixel lighting of an OLED panel. And when you're paying well over $1,000 / £1,000 any kind of clunkines🅺s is hard to accept. In the end, this kind of screen tech feels like a short-term experiment while we wait for OLED or microLED to go mainstream in the monitor 🔴market. The lack of USB-C connectivity grates a little, too.

Despite all that, the Neo G8 is still a stellar gaming monitor if you w♍ant one screen to do it all - PC gaming, console gaming, and some boring stuff in Windows on the side. On that note, we're not totally convinced that the curved screen really makes sense on a conventional 32-inch 16:9 monitor like this. But it's not a deal breaker either. Just a lཧittle bit of a distraction. All of this makes the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 fantastic and flawed in almost equal measure.

How we tested the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8

Modern gaming✨ monitors are incredibly complex. Factors to consider include everything from colour coverage and pixel response, to refresh rates, adaptive sync, local dimming algorithms, latency, and more. Features like the configurability of overdrive settings and connectivity can really make a difference for gaming, too. But while objective measurements are important, it's the subjective experience that ultimately matters.🦩 How do all those numbers translate into gaming thrills? That's what we're here to find out, and we put it through the ringer of multiple games to get accurate readings on what it's like to actually use.

澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:1. Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro

The best gaming phone overall

Screen: 6.78-inch AMOLED, 185Hz | Resolution: 2448 x 1080 | Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite | Cameras: 32MP front, 50MP main rear, 13MP ultra-wide | Storage: Up to 1TB | Water resistance: IP54 | Dimensions: 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9mm | Weight: 225g

Extremely powerful
Slick 185Hz AMOLED screen
Improved AniMe Vision back display
Touch triggers are still top tier
As expensive as smartphones get
Silly offset USB-C port

The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro is the latest in the brand's industry-topping selection of mobile thumb tappers. Decked out with super-fast processing tech, plenty of storage, and bags of RAM (not to mention the 185Hz refresh rate display to keep it all look♛ing slick), this is the gaming phone to beat in 2025.

Buy it if:

✅ You want the fastest screen possible: At 185Hz it's going to be difficult to find a higher 🤡refresh-rate displ🦋ay on the market right now.

✅ You want a subtle design: LED array aside, this design is particularly toned-down, with a ꧙modest black form factor and very little in the way of RGB.

✅ Performance is everything: You're spendin𒐪g big on the latest and greatest components in here, but if you play demanding games at high settings you'll ce💃rtainly feel the benefit.

Don't buy it if:

You use a mobile controller: The off🐭-center US🌞B-C connection means finding a wraparound mobile controller that will fit could be a problem.

You only play lighter games: If you're just interested in running the odd thumb tapper, you're not going to get the best value out of this invesꦿtment.

Design: Flip that gorgeous AMOLED display over and you'll find a fairly understated design. It's a 6.78-inch device with a smooth finish (our review device came in a darker black colorway), and just a hint of red to suggest it's more than a mainstream flagship. That is, until you tinker in its AniMe Vision settings. This is where a small collection of LEDs spring to life, offering a similar back-panel display as the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro before it. That's not the only thing that's journeyed with the ROG Phone 9 Pro from its predecessor - unfortunately, the USB-C port to the bottom of the device is still off-center, which can make finding a 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:mobile controller a little tricky.

Features: Still, it's what inside that really counts, and with a Sℱnapdragon 8 Elite processor, up to 24GB RAM, and a 5,500mAh battery the ROG Phone 9 Pro offers plenty of horsepower to see you through intensive mobile games and streaming. You can now also play games direct on that AniMe screen on the back panel, which ღis a neat gimmick for this year's device. You're still getting the brand's Air Trigger controls, a touch capacitive set of bumper buttons that make games like Call of Duty Mobile infinitely easier to command.

The ROG Phone 9 Pro also ships with Armory Crate software, which has sipped from the same AI tea as pretty much every othe🅷r new gaming device. AI is being used here to cancel unwanted audio from your chat, translate text, and automatically record key in-game moments as they happen. Aside from all that, you're still getting the core Asus experience, with Armory Crate acting as a hub for all your installed games, and offering different performance modes and overlays.

Performance: With all that at it💖s disposal, the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro confidently beat both the previous 8 Pro and RedMagic 9S Pro in benchmark testing. I would be surprised if it didn't considering the horsepower on offer, but you'll struggle to really get these components sweating with most common mobile experiences these days. The battery kept us going for around five and a half hours of intensive gaming - a considerable uptick compared to cheaper models.

Screen: 6.8-inch AMOLED, 120Hz | Resolution: 1116 x 2480 | Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version | Cameras: 50MP Main, 50MP Ultra-Wide, 2MP Macro, 16MP Front | Storage: Up to 512GB | Water resistance: NA | Dimensions: 164 x 76 x 9mm | Weight: 229g

Slick aesthetic design
Crisp display with smooth motion
High-end performance
Excellent value for money
Much improved UI
Long battery life
Marginal spec improvements over previous model
Updates may be needed in the future

While it's very similar to the model before it, the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:RedMagic 9S Pro is ꦯthe best value gaming phone on the 🍰market today.

Buy it if:

✅ You want to use a mobile controller: A centered USB-C port makes for an eꩲasy physical connec🙈tion to a wraparound gamepad.

✅ You don't want to break the bank: The RedMagic 9S🅺 Pro isn't the cheapest phone on the market but it does push its components incredibly well for a fair price.

✅ You don't want to worry about battery life: This is a sturdy battery that can see you through hours 😼of gameplay and video without breaking a sweat.

Don't buy it if:

You want turbo performance: This is a𓃲 boosted version of the Snapdragon Gen 3 processor, which isn't going to run as far as the Extreme model in the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro.

Design: Inline with other industry trends, the 9S Pro is more laid back in its aesthetic than previous entries. A flat sided block with a part💛icularly skinny silhouette, it only hints at its gaming origins at first glance. Of course, things becom꧅e a little more obvious once that RGB fans whirs to life, but from the outside this could be any mainstream flagship.

That means this is a device that looks good and feels comfortable in the hand, even if we did wish for a slightly curved back during landscape play anওd speakers that weren't covered when horizontal.

Features: Of course, you're still getting all those gaming phone specific feature🧜s. 🌜The 9S Pro offers two capacitive touch pads along the top which can read inputs at 560Hz, meanwhile the dedicated game launcher provides quick access to all your apps and can provide system information and performance controls with an in-game overlay as well.

Considering the cash you're spending, that display is something else. A super crisp AMOLED is going to look good on any phone, but ꦛthe screen ratio in here is fantastic considering its lower price point ✤and everything still looks slick despite the lower-than-Asus 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance: It may only be an iterative update compared to the processing power found in the previous 9 Pro mod🦄el, but you're getting an incredible price to performance ratio here with stunning results in-game. If you're after an Android gaming phone that won't break the bank but still offers an upgrade over a mainstream device, this is where you need to be looking.

The best budget Android phone
Higher game settings can drain the battery faster

Picking up a cheaper gaming phone doesn't mean limiting yourself to match-three puzzlers or go with an unknown brand. The Samsung Galaxy A50 costs🃏 a small fraction of its flashier siblings like the S20 or Note series, but this is still a great phone and a stone-cold bargain if you want to spend less, but get a phone that won't let yo🐎u down.

I was testing this for gaming against some very expensive phones and I almost had to have a word with it and explain how it needed to stop showing up the big boys. Call of Duty Mobile on high settings for graphics and frame rate. Why not? Sure, it wasn't quite as smooth or detailed as your $1000/£1000 flagship phones, but at less than a third of the price, the A50 is way better than it shou൩ld be.

As a day to day phone, the Samsung Galaxy A50 has a very good camera, with only the night pictures being prone to a loss of detail if there are too many artificial light sources. Amazingly for a phone at this price, it has a dual-SIM slot, making it handy if you have separate work/home SIMs or if you're picking up a cheap data card when traveling abroad. There's a newer Galaxy A51 out there now, which aside from an upgrade to 48MP/32MP (back/front) camera lenses, carries the same internal spec and display, so we'd stick with the A50 for the generally cheaper cost, but if you're curious, here are the latest 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Galaxy A51 prices.

The best controls on a gaming phone

Screen size: 6.67-inch OLED | Resolution: 1080p | Processor: Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 | Cameras: 108MP Wide, 12MP Ultra-Wide, 5MP Macro (rear), 16MP Wide (front) | Storage: 256GB / 512GB | Water resistance: NA | Dimensions (HxWxD): 16.3 x 76.5 x 9.5mm | Weight: 220g

Extreme performance
Gorgeous OLED panel
An actually decent camera system
Physical pop-up triggers
Only minor battery upgrades
No audio jack
No wireless charging

The price to performance ratio of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Black Shark 5 Pro is excellent. It's𝔉 no cheap device by any means, but there's little sense of inflated costs here. Plus, for a device to truly be considered one of the best gaming phones it needs to function just as well as an actual smartphone as it does a gaming machine. That's where the camera of the Black Shark 5 Pro comes in.

Buy it if:

✅ You don't mind a renewed model: The Black Shark 5 😼Pro is still available these days, but it's harder to🧸 find new.

✅ You play lighter games: Thumb tappers, the odd streaming session, and lighte𒆙r strategy titles are going to run best on this slightly older model.

Don't buy it if:

You want newer specs: The insides are a little dated now, so if you play more demandin﷽g games꧂ it's worth future proofing yourself.

Design: The Black Shark 5 Pro bucked the trend of its day. Instead of garish RGB, giant vents, and a chunky back panel, this is a slimline device more in-keeping with more modern flagship sensibilities. The back is still stamped with a range of patterns and icons (and it does ship with a case if you want a more🌸 subtle look), but it's far less outlandis🌺h compared to other gaming phones of its era.

Features: It's rare to find a gaming phone offering such top-line specs and performance while still carrying a decent set of lenses in its corner. We were particularly impressed by the shots we were able to take here. Yes, you are making some smꦛartphone sacrifices - the lack of wireless charging being the biggest here - however this is still an everyday device with the battery to back it up.

Performance: Load up some games, though, and you'll really see the Black Shark 5 Pro shine. Everything is smooth and crisp on that gorgeous OLED display, and with phy🎶sical pop up trigger buttons to keep all your movements precise and snappy as well. Few phones offer these physical clickers these days, opting for the more svelt touch-capacitive buttons along the top. However, we were particularly thankful for these small additions, making for a far more engaging experience overall.

The most comfortable gaming phone

Display: 6.78-inch AMOLED, 165Hz | Resolution: 2448 x 1080 | Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 | Cameras: 32MP front, 50MP main rear, 13MP ultra-wide, 8MP macro | Storage: 512GB | Water resistance: IP54 | Dimensions (HxWxD): 173 x 77 x 10.3mm | Weight: 239g

Design isn't too gamerfied
Excellent AMOLED display
Touch-sensitive triggers feel great
Armoury Crate software is just right
Powerful audio
Top-spec internal components
Better camera than average gaming phones
Off-centre USB-C port means controllers are limited
At the top end of the price range

The 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is an older release, but it's st🌟ill well worth considering. While its insides aren't going to compete with newer models, its sloped chassis makes for✨ a far more comfortable experience.

Buy it if:

✅ You play for longer periods of time: Harsh corners and flat backs aren't par🗹ticularly comfortable for longer sessions, but the curves of this older model hold ouꩲt well.

✅ You still want access to Armoury Crate: Though it's a little older, you'l🐟l still find 🦩Armoury Crate running nicely in the background.

Don't buy it if:

You want the latest specs: If you prioritize performance over comfort, you'll fiᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚnd better value in a newer release.

Design: Sporting an almost identical design to the previous generation, the Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is 🦂a familiar sight with the chunky form factor anওd bezels of a much older device. However, with newer releases opting for a harsh flat design this is a golden age of comfort we're keen to keep alive.

Features: Pair that with a gorgeous screen (working particularly hard for you considering its resolution sits at just 2448 x 1080) a🍌nd a beastly set of front firing speakers and the overall experience is unlike anything we've experienced before. Everything is crisp and snappy thanks to the AMOLED display running at 165Hz, meanwhile the touch sensitive triggers make sure you're taking every shot with excellent precision.

The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate has even avoided software pitfalls that sometimes plague even the best gaming phones. The Armoury Crate so♋ftware neatly pulls all your games together while also serving as a hub for performance settings, framerate limits, and screen recordings. It's not unusual to find these features split across several different programs clogging up a gaming phone, so this sparsity is a welcome relief.

All of that makes the lofty price point all the more enticing, particularly if you're happy to invest in a high-end device. However, there is one flaw that may well stop you in your tracks. The charging USB-C port to the bottom of the phone is off-centre. That means you won't be able to use the Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate with the majority of 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:mobile controllers which 🃏often connect directly via this USB-C port. Bluetooth gamepads won't be effected but if you're looking to use something like the Razer Kishi V2, you'll 🌄need to look elsewhere.

Performance: A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset runs this show, offering some incredible performance and the cooling to back it up. Without the dedicated AeroCooler system (sold separately), things can get a little heated when pushed to max, but we were never uncomfortable during standard everyday ga𓆉ming. That's not something we can say for the majority of gaming phones out there.

How we test gaming phones

Each handset that passes our pockets goes through a serie🗹s⭕ of tests to see if it's worthy of being listed as one of the best gaming phones on the market. First and foremost, though, we live with these devices to see just how well their form factors, cameras, screens, and - crucially - battery lives hold up under every day use. That's why we adopt each model as our own throughout the testing period, putting each phone through its paces in both standard use and through heavy gaming sessions.

After that, we run each gaming phone through a series of titles to determine their performance 🔜as well as how much battery they consume. Call of Duty Mob🎶ile, PUBG, Magic The Gathering: Arena, and Fortnite (on Android) are our primary titles.

You can find out more about how we make our recommendations in our full 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:GamesRadar+ Hardware Policy.

Which phones are best for gaming?

In our testing, the best phone for gaming is currently the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro. However, if you're after value for money we'd recommend checking out the slightly solder RedMagic ♔9S Pro.

Are gaming phones worth it?

If you're invested in the wide and wonderful world of mobile gaming, sinking some cash into🏅 a device that can keep up with your pursuits will always be worth it. You'll enjoy a faster screen, more RAM and storage, a more powerful processor, and additional gaming features like fps caps and performance modes.

However, if you tinker with Apple Arcade every now and then or jump into the odd PUBG session, we'd recommend aiming for a phone that can support your mobile gameplay, but not at the sacrifice of other features. The best gaming phones often drop camer💎a and high-end networking features, and can cost a pretty penny to boot, so it's worth working out whether you'll actually be using those additional gadgets before investing.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is coming to Oculus via 🐠Xbox Cloud Gaming, giving you a chance to play the subscription service's titles on a bizarre, 2D VR TV screen.

The details can be found on the that rounds up the events of today's Meta Connect 🍎showcase, with the company announcing that it's teaming up with Microsoft to introduce Xbox Cloud Gaming onto the Meta Quest Store... eventually. Th🔯at's a lot of proper nouns, so let's break this down a little.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is a service currently in beta testing and only available to 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. It lets you stream games to your phones, table🃏ts, computers, specific Samsung TVs, Xbox consoles, and soon(ish), to Meta Quest 2 headsets.

Since these are VR headsets we're talking about here, the non-VR games on Game Pass will need to be streamed onto a 2D TV that exists within the virtual environment rendered by the headset. The result, 🍰if the above picture is any indication, is at best odd. At worst, it could be the cause of some serious motion sickness.

The virtua💟l TV is slightly curved like some IRL TVs, but the effect is definitely strange to see in the VR world - especially since it appear💟s to be floating on a virtual tropical beach in this example. Here's hoping the final presentation looks clean when you're actually wearing a headset.

ꦰTo make things even more interesting (and complicated), you'll be able to hook up an Xbox controller to the VR headset and use that instead of the typical VR-specific controllers us꧂ed with the device.

It's unclear how well this will translate fꦦor those looking to play Halo Infinite or Deathloop on a virtual TV, so we'll have to wait and see for now. Xbox Cloud Gaming&a✅pos;s Meta Quest Store launch does not have a release date yet, but the announcement promises details "as soon as possible."

Meta Quest Pro has "next-generation" visuals and a $1,500 price tag.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Labor Day TV sales are underway and all the usual reta༺ilers are getting invol💟ved and cutting the prices of some great screens, all across the price spectrum.

However, these TV sales are also breaking new ground in terms of prices, and we are currently seeing a new record low on one of 2022's best. Right now the Samsung S95B in its 55-inch form is down to (was $2,199.99). Yes, this is still a fair chunk of change, but it's also the screen's first ever $500 discount - something we rarely see on a premium 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:gaming TV and so early 🦋after its releaꦍse (this screen came out earlier this year).

The big selling point of this particular TV is that it is Samsung's first ever OLED TV. This would be big enough news in itself,🍨 but it's also the new iteration of OLED TV tech: QD-OLED. This is quantum dot OLED tech and, along with Sony's A95K, has been making waves in the TV industry this year, supposedly offering the best of both OLED and QLED worlds in one screen.

And saving $500 in such a Labor Day TV sale means that with everyone keeping an eye on prices and the🌠 cost of, well, everything right now, you can still look to save money and benefit from deals on nice𓆏 things like a new TV. And what a TV it is.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> We all know game streaming is here to stay and offers, perhaps, a glimpse at the future of play. Samsung and Xbox are embracing this with the launch of Samsu♉ng's Gaming Hub and the Xbox App.

Simply put, it gives you the ability to access your Xbox library and account directly from one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming TVs, or even a more budget-friendly screen from Samsung. Besides adding another string to the TV-🍎maker's bow, the Samsung Gaming Hub and Xbox App will offer more ways to play. Crucially, it provides more routes into the Xbox ecosystem for less. Considering the current climate, being kinder on the bank balance is a big selling-point here.

To see if it's worth the fuss, I went to se🎶e Samsung's Gamin൲g Hub in action.

It's more than just an app

Now, if we're being totally reductive: yes, the Samsung Gaming Hub is 'just' an app on a Samsung TV that enables you to stream cloud games𓃲 (something many folks do with their phones already). It certainly feels that way at first glance. But simultaneously, it also feels like something more. Something that will bring more folks in and give us more ways to play.

To cut right to it: what do you need to make it work? Well, the headline here is that the Samsung Gaming Hub will feature in all of Samsung's 2022 TVs from the entry-level Crystal UHD BU8000 line upward. This is the first noteworthy detail as it means that folks won't have to buy the most expensive Samsung contenders for 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best TV for Xbox Series X 🌊to get the Gaming Hub. What else do you need? Well, just a Bluetooth gaming coℱntroller of any stripe, and an Xbox GamePass subscription (other services are also integrated in the hub such as GeForce Now, Stadia etc - but this is clearly geared toward and built for Xbox folks).

And how does it actually feel like to use and play? Pretty good, really. Games handle with very little late🥂ncy - certainly nothing obvious or impactful. You can access each one easily and intuitively too.

Playওing the streamed games feels fairly good, respons🐻ive, and, dare I say, normal

Happily, you can join other friends online who have consoles or are streaming their games on other devices. All at a respectable 1080p and 60 frames p🅘er second (maximum). Neat. As long as your internet connection meets the recommended minimum requirement of 10-20mbps, then you shoul💯d be laughing.

From initial impressions, the Samsung Gaming Hub lives up to that promise. Aside from some loading while the system searches and connects to the nearest Xbox server, playing the streamed games feels fairly good, responsive, and, dare I say, no♍rmal.

Access to the cloud is key

Samsung Gaming Hub and Xbox App event

The Samsung Gaming Hub offers more than just the means through which to stream games though (and this goes beyond Xbox, as apps like GeForce, Stadia and some others are accessible through it). Games streamed through the Gaming Hub can receive extra boosts such as frame-rate stabilization, optimizations, audio options, and more. You'll also be able to use normal peripherals such as headsets, the best 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Xbox Series X accessories, and wired controllers🍷 through the Bluetooth or USB connections.

This move from Xbox and Samsung is without doubt primarily ♛geared to encourage new players to try out games and Xbox Game Pass, hooking them in through this console-less method. However, it does open the door for those already in the Xbox system as well, allowing them to game on more devices and, thus, in more places. As an example, existing players can carrying over progress between their console, the commute on their phone, and then at a friend or family member's place with one of these Samsung televisions. It's a cool concept for sure.

This all sounds tremendous, so is there a downside to this service as well as the Samsung Gamin𝔍g Hub? On paper, not really - but I do think there are a couple of unan🍷swered questions, open doors, and potential opportunities.

If you live in remote areas, or hard to reach 🍬places, then streaming will still not bꦇe an option

The required internet connection is a potential pitfall - still, in the year 2022 AD. It is both not a problem for a lot of people, but is still not achievable for a lot of people. Particularly here in the UK, the reality is that there isn't quite the widespread access to reliable and speedy internet connections that will provide a comfortable and stable experience streaming games that big companies might like to think there is. If you live in remote areas, or hard-to-reach places, then𒁏 streaming will still not be an♔ option. The Hub won't change that.

And that's a pitfall because the Samsung Gaming Hub and Xbox App is purely aimed at getting folks into the ecosystem, or spreading them over more areas of it - there is nothing here for you if you don't stream games. This is also a potential, or at least current, problem with the Samsung Gaming Hub: all the optimizations, and extra features, are only for games streamed through it - there is nothing here for PlayStation or Nintendo players. If you were hoping that a 'Gaming Hub' might offer more than thꦉe TV's own settings for any device of any brand that you plug into it, then this is not the case.

However, the company has called it the 'Samsung Gaming Hub', not the 'Xbox Gaming Hub' or 'Xbox on Samsung Gaming Hub'. As such, maybe the door is open to it being a feature tha💮t can offer something to other platform users dow♐n the line.

A lot was spoken about the Samsung 980 Pro when the PS5's NVMe storage slot was revealed - being one of the fastest, most reliable, and premium M.2 SSDs going, the thought of having one of them as your PS5 SSD was an immediately delectable proposition.

And now the prospect is even more del𒉰icious as Samsung has released a variant of the SSD that comes with its own comprehensive, cool-looking (for whatever that's worth) heatsink. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Whenever a new form of technology comes along, it’s usually ex🐟pensive and it takes a few versions before it’s done right and can justify the cost. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is foldable phones done right for the first time. It’s still very expensive (prices start at $1799/£1599), but it’s the first device that’s really nailed that wow factor of having a mobile phone that folds out into a tablet. Sure, there are some minor elements that we hope to see worked on in future iterations, but for now, this is quite simply, one of the best phones ever made.

This device isn’t to be confused with other foldable phones that are going for a clamshell design, opening up into a regular phone-sized device. Samsung has released one of those at the same time in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 (stay tuned for our upcoming review of that one). Inste🔜ad, the Z Fold 3 opens up horizontally to reveal an almost-square 7.6-inch tablet-esque screen at an 11.2:9 ratio. You also get a large 6.2-inch cover screen on one half of the front side of the device too for quicker access.

The sizes of both screens haven't cha🐼nged over the previous model, but the cover screen has been upgraded to match the 120Hz display seen on the main display, so it gets that lovely smooth feeling when scrolling through feeds.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

As a functional display though, the cover screen is a tad too narrow to use that much - outside of quickly checking your messages, brief articles, or maybe Google Maps if you’re walking and want to hold the device one-handed. I found the cramped page layouts added way too much scroll to the experience. The compressed keyboard results in too many typos and placing the cursor first-time to edit them is too difficult. Swipe typing did fare a bit better though, so I’d advise switching to that. It’s a tough balance as we’ve seen text automatically shrunken down to accommodate narrow screens on phones like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Sony Xperia 1 III 🐭but in these cases, it’s often too small. The front screen here is much narrower than Sony’s phone too.

Thankfully, in instances where I’d decide the front display wasn’t working for me, opening🎀 up the phone automatically opens the same app on the internal one for a smooth transition. And for all but the quickest tasks, you’ll want to open up the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 because this is where the magic happens.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

The internal tablet display

Despite being the third in the series, it’s taking a while for Samsung, and indeed app developers, to really get on board with the square screen ratio offered by the internal displays on phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 3. On default settings, you’ll find Facebook and many other feed-based apps try to use the full width of the screen. While all seems well initially on Facebook, I soon started to notiꦫce that long vertical images and videos (think anything shot with a phone) wouldn't quite fit. If you can see the top of a video you can forget seeing the subtitles at the other end.🐻 Tapping videos will open them up at a viewable ratio, but it’s an extra interaction you might not want to make if you’re only lightly browsing videos on your feed as you scroll.

On the plus side, all apps can be a🃏djusted in the ‘Labs’ settings and you can choose 4:3 (narrower, but still not quite right for video cropping issues) or a much more traditional 16:9 which does fix these awkward fits. 16:9 mode does mean adding some dead space to the sides of the screen, and they really are dead. It would have been nice if you could at least use these to scroll through the feed given they’re much more in reach for your thumbs.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

The ‘crease’ is still th⛄ere in the center of the screen but it really isn’t that noticeable and has nev🅠er gotten in the way of my enjoyment reading or watching content, especially as it basically vanishes when viewed head-on with any bright backgrounds.

Flex mode -where you fold the phone halfway into an L-shape and put it on a flat surface - has a lot of potential, but is lacking polish and wide app support at the moment. For Netflix and YouTube, it moves the media controls to the bottom half and leaves the other half, the one facing you directly, to show the video content. It’s great when you’ve nothing to prop the phone up against to watch something on the whole screen. Think of a shaky table on a train, or when watching in bed. However, it recently stopped wo𝄹rking for me on Disney Plus and it isn’t supported yet for Google Meet. Likewise for video calls on WhatsApp, but it does split nicely to half keyboard, half messages for texting. So if you like to send long messages you can settle down to type almost like a proper keyboard rather than just using thumbs.

The wider display in full-screen tablet mode does excel for other apps, though. Reading articles in Chrome or going through emails is instantly better than a traditional mobile experience, even if you’re coming in from a large device like the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (which I am personally).

"My old tablet’s time is up and I don’t have to use my laptop as much. This is exact✅ly what I want from a large foldable phone/tablet hybrid."

Where the device really comes alive, though, is in split view and viewing multiple apps at once. For me, running Gmail and Chrome alongside each other while holding the💎 phone horizontally is fa⛄ntastic and something I can only usually do with a tablet - which I’m loath to drag around outside the house.

Sorting through an email backlog and being able to open their links onto the other side of the screen is a big timesaver. But you can really ramp it up as pretty much any app can be used in split view and you can even have a third open as a pop-up over the top, which is handy if you perhaps want to have controls for Spotify running on-screen at once too. The third app feels like overkill for ✱me personally, especially in conjunction with Chrome and email, but the functionality may suit your own needs and brings the tablet experience more in line with that of iPad OS.

What is new this year is the new taskbar. On recent Galaxy phones you might have (should have!) been using the excellent feature that lets you drag in a quick access taskbar from the edge of the screen for your favorite apps. That feature is here too, but you can now pin it to stay in place. So, if you’re working simultaneously between multiple apps you can move between them with ease. For example, I can access Chrome, Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets with a similar speed to my laptop now. Previously, I’d have to press the Menu button, then scroll through my recently opened apps each time. Now with this quick🧜 access, combined with split-view, I can get much more done at speed. And best of all, ⛄unpinning this taskbar is a swipe and a click away for when I want that screen real estate back for more casual use. My old tablet’s time is up and I don’t have to use my laptop as much. This is exactly what I want from a large foldable phone/tablet hybrid.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 cameras compared

The pinhole camera on the ꦫinternal display has been replaced with a new under-display camera, which actually shoots between pixels on the screen. You can see a small mesh-like circle hiding the camera and it can be noticeable at first, but considering the system bar is uꦜsually black, you won’t see it and I soon forgot all about it when watching content. It’s an impressive innovation.

While the discretion is impressive, unfortunately, the quality of the 4MP shots from the camera hiding behind the screen is disappointing. So much so, I’d rather have the old 10MP pinhole design back. Images are much blurrier and darker than the Fold 2 and indeed most other Samsung phones. I’m not fussed about it from a selfie perspective as the 10MP lens on the cover display takes care of that, but for video calls, the internal lens got a universal thumbs down from my colleagues in various environments, with video quality being notably lower than even the basic webcam built into🌱 my work laptop. Flex mode not being supported in Google Meet is a bit annoying for using the phone halꦛf folded on a desk as well - you can still run the call, but the image of your colleagues is folded in half. That’s patchable, but the lens quality is not.

As for the three rear cameras, you’re getting a main, ultrawide, and telephoto (with 2x zoom) all at 12MP. All very good in themselves, but the S21 and modern iPhones offer better images and with stronger zoom featu𒉰res. But we’re only✤ talking minor differences for most images unless you’re very serious about your phone’s camera capabilities. The modest downgrade makes sense given all the extra work the phone’s internal spec is being asked to run compared to the smaller S21 series.

What I really like about the Z Fold 3, though, is the easier functionality. Accessing the pro mode features can get a bit fiddly on a regular-sized phone, but this foldable phone gives these features and dials their own space in Flex mode. You also have the🦹 option of seeing a preview of your photo on one side of the screen without leaving shooting mode, which drastically reduces the back and forth trying to work out ifꦏ you have the shot you want. Giving the in-depth pro mode controls their own space is much better for experimenting with them too.

And that’s not all, when using the rear cameras, you can turn ꦐon the front screen so your friends can see what you’re shooting which is a neat feature for making sure everyone is in the shot and can potentially reduce the number 🌳of retakes required.

Gaming on the Galaxy Z Fold 3

The expansive canvas offered by the Z Fold 3 is superb for gaming on the go with the vibrant 120hz display capable of running Call of Duty mobile on high settings with ease. Unl♕ike a lot of flagship phones, I found the Fold 3 didn’t really heat up that much when playing. I never ran into issues with cropping either as most titles seemed fine reformatting the image without any sort of distortion or chopped content.

It’s worth pointing out here how strong the Dolby audio is on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3ౠ as well (including general music and movie playback). The dual-speaker setup supports strong bass performance and the mids and highs carry themselves nicely too, providing plenty of detail and never feeling tinny.

FPS and racing games all felt solid on the foldable screen, but I did run into a slight issue with Sky Force, a retro-style scrolling vertical shooter. When using my finger to drag the ship around the screen, I’d sometimes briefly lose control, like I’d taken my finger off the screen, when passing over the crease. It’s far from a deal-breaker as I rarely play those types of games now and generally prefer using a controller for Call of Duty and the like. I didn’t find the crease to cause 🥃any issues in RPG or match-three games either.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 battery test

The 4,400 mAh battery is smaller than we’ve come to 🍨expect from larger smartphones (the S21 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery), but you shouldn’t have a problem getting through a full day with it unless you’re really hammering some intense gaming or streaming on a lengthy commute.

The Z Fold 3 supports 25W fast charging and 10W wireless charging, but don’t expect to find a charger in the box, which is frankly ridiculous given the price, and we’re not buying the environmental excuses either. By all means, make it an optional extra and charge a few b🍸ucks less for not including one but it’s wrong to assume everyone has a USB-C fast charger already.

Durability of the Z Fold 3

𝕴Unlike the previous model, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is now IPX 8 water-resistant so can survive 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. It’s impressiꩵve that Samsung has been able to produce this in the still very new world of foldable phones. There’s no rating for dust resistance though, so if you spend a lot of time on the beach, desert, or on construction sites, you might want to think twice before taking the Z Fold 3 with you. Small particles could get under the display’s surface and into the phone itself.

The new Armor Aluminum casing and hinge feel robust enough to last with frequent use, hopefully for a few years given the cost. The ‘snap’ you get from closing the phone feels enormously satisfying when you’re done with it too. Opening the Z Fold 3 is a little on the stiff side, though.📖

Samsung claims the screen is 80% tougher than before and can withst😼and a huge amount of use. Having only had the phone for a month or so, we can’t attest to its longevity, but we’ve not heard any complaints from w🙈riters that have had one even longer. The glass itself is Gorilla Glass Victus, which is the top end of the scale, but still glass nonetheless, so we’d implore you to pick up a decent case and save yourself some heartbreak.

Some areas still need work

There are a few 🌌rough edges with some apps that I hope can be patched out. Running Disney Plus in Flex mode stopped working recently and refuses to split the screen appropriately between the content and controls (Netflix and Youtube run fine though). And a♎s already mentioned, there are plenty of apps that don’t yet support Flex mode despite being a great fit for it.

Outside of Flex mode, Gmail’s quick controls at the bottom of the screen to ജhop into Chat, Spaces, or Meet appear on the front screen, but when you open the phone up these shortcuts often disappear meaning you’ll have💞 to open their own bespoke apps rather than access them within Gmail.

Bafflingly, Chrome tabs are laid out like they are on a PC browser when using tablet mode, making it difficult to navigate them if you have lots open, but when browsing via the front screen you’re able to press 🎃a tabs button (like you can on most mobiles) and view them all from ಌa distance, making it much easier to get back to the one you want.

As for the hardware itself, there are various elements you’d hope to s🎶ee improved with future foldables. It seems greedy to ask this, but you’ll almost certainly want a lighter version as the weight here is considerable at 271g/9.8oz, and you can really feel it when you drop it into your pocket - you might find some trousers suddenly need a belt when they didn’t before. When folded, the Z Fold 3 is a thick piece of hardware. In fairness though this is only about as thick as your average flagship smartphone w♚hen unfolded, so expecting anything super thin when folded is a big ask this early into foldable phones.

At this price, it wo𝔍uld be nice to get the supported S Pen Fold Edition thrown in, but next time around it would be even better if a Note-esque stylus can be built-in from the off. And with the Galaxy S22 Ultra/Pro model rumored t🌊o be getting a stylus, we’ll be crossing our fingers and toes that this does indeed happen with the next page of the Fold’s story.

Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is undeniably a tough sell at such a high price, but hopefully, it’ll come down over time. If you can get a fair ✨deal with your network provider, though, you might be able to make it work. If you can, this i🧸s genuinely a game-changing piece of technology that you’ll come to adore.

It’s a much easier sell if you’re an avid multitasker who has spent a lot of time trying to do too much with even the best in regular smartphones. That extra space of the Fold 3’s tablet screen, combined with split-view and the pinnable taskbar really opens up your options of what you ♕can do without packing a separate tablet or turning on the laptop. And for many of us, that’s incredibly valuable and reason enough to take a pricey plunge into foldables - now that the tech has caught up with the ambition.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is seriously encouraging from various angles. That's not just because it's shaping up to be an improvement over last year's model or that it's cheaper. Just the fact that it exists in its third iteraౠtion is proof that Samsung has faith that foldable phones are set to become the next big thing in mobile technology. I'm very much hoping it&a✅pos;s right.

As shown in my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 hands-on preview, the company is trying to cut the retail price✃s of♑ this emerging tech each time around. The compact Flip 3 dips under the $1000/£1,000 barrier, while the Galaxy Fold 3 will cost you less than last year's model at $1,799/£1,599.

Ok, that's still a huge amount of money, but we're going in the right direction. If you've got the budget to match your desire for an outrageously hot device, then the Galaxy Fold 3 might be the foldable phone/tablet hybrid you've been waiting for. That's because the tech inside the foldable display i🍌s starting to match the kind seen in the wider flagship mobile world, and that's very exciting if you don't want to compromise on performance or features.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: what's improved?

The displays on foldable phones just keep getting better, but Samsung is pushing the envelope this time by improving the cover screen on the Fold 3 to match the 120Hz smoot🌜hness seen on the phone's internal foldable display. You're also getting the same Dynamic AMOLED tech for improved HDR and less blue light, so when combined with the new Echo Square technology that makes both displays 29% brighter than before, everything has that extra pop to it. Providing you whack up the brightness settings, that is.

According to Won-Joon Choi, head of Flagship Product R&D Team, the durability of the flexible display has appare🐬ntly been increased by a💮round 80% compared to the previous foldables thanks to a redesigned layer structure and a new protective film on the screens. Improved scratch resistance and more durability on the folding element of the screen are big wins in my book.

Elsewhere, the Fold 3's design looks capable of taking some punishment. The metal frame of the phone, plus the hinge, is made from 10% 𓄧stronger aluminium (a new material called Armor Aluminium), while Gorilla Victus Glass is now being used as well. This is 50% stronger than the old Gorillas Glass 6, so the Fold 3 is a little sturdier. Even so, don't drop it, like, ever. Glass is still glass.

It's covered even if your phone goes for a dip. For the first time in the Fold series, you're protected by IPX8 technology.ꦫ That’s the highest water-resistant standard you’ll 💖find on any foldable smartphone, and it was a major sticking point on forking out for previous foldables.

Meanwhile, the new Snapdragon 888 5G processor helps alleviate concerns about power. This will provide an extra boost for all the multitasking you're going to be throwing at the Fold 3, and I was able to nip between apps with ease. There's wasn't much opportunity to do some gaming during my session (too early to call it for a spot on our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming phones guide), but we'll be sure to put it through its paces when we get one in for review. The Fold 2 was very capable though, so I'm confident it'll do we༒ll.

In terms of other improvements, the Galaxy Fold 3's dimensions are largely the same as the Fold 2, but it's slightly thinner in profile with less of a sloping bulk to it🤪 in the body behind the center of the screen. Similarly, I was excited to see that the selfie camera now lies under the display itself. You can see a very small mesh-like circle that's hiding the lens, but it's barely noticeable after a very short time.

Audio hasn't been ignored either, 𒐪as the upgraded speakers really make that Dolby Atmos add depth to tunes on Spotify and provid🐈e a more involving soundscape for movie content.

Finally, the Galaxy Fold 3 now includes S Pen support, which might be an even bigger bonus for you given the Note series is taking a break this year. The S-Pen Fold Edition is a separate purchase though. If෴ you opt for the official Samsung cover, there's a space to slot this version of the S-Pen into as well. Sure, it adds some extra bulk to the overall footprint, but given the folded phone is quite narrow anyway, the case with S-Pen at the side takes the overall width to something akin to that of the Note 20 Ultra - not bad at all and still quite pocket friendly,⛎ even with the added thickness of the folded screen. Not that you're going to fit anything else in that pocket, of course.

A multitasking beast

Splitting apps is something we've been able to do on other Samsung phones for a while, but it's often quite awkward and the usefulness can go out the window as soon a✱s you needed to bring up the keyboard too. There are no such problems with the Fold series though, and it's even better this ꦦtime around.

A new Labs feature lets you tailor the size of the app window more than before to best allow you to use them simultaneously with other apps, and you can really adapt your setup depending on the app - not to mention set behaviors🌳 in advance. There's also a new taskbar at the side of the screen that aims to cut down the number of touches required when swapping between some of your most-used apps.

Plus, you can now have two instances of the same ไapp open at once. I'm n♛ot sure at this time if this is supported by all apps, but it'll certainly be handy for working apps like Google Docs or Microsoft Excel.

The UI has been designe𝓀d to suit the extended dimensions of the internal display too. I loved using the on-screen keyboard that wa💜s split in two to make it easier to just use my thumbs on either side of the screen to type. However, it's easy to switch to a regular keyboard layout if you prefer.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

The triple camera setup on the back feat🏅ures three healthy 12MP lenses, while the front camera weighs in with 10MP. When taking pictures of friends with the rear camera and using the internal display to frame your shot, the front display will actually show them the same image, which is great to make sure everyone's happy and know if they're in the shot or not or how they look. A godsend if they're usually asking to retake the shot for various reasons.

If you do want to tinker, diving into the camera's pro mode settings is a breeze when using the phone folded ꦗinto a L-shape and putting it on a flat surface horizontally. The top half is your viewfinder, then the bottom part of the display can be used to navigate and tweak settings. It's just so much easier than trying to do it with a regular smartphone, especially something larger like a Note 20 Ultra.

This same L-shape position is excellent for watching TV/movie content too as even half of the screen size is large enough. The folded design will be ideal for watching content 🔯in bed without having to hold the phone or prop it up against something.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Can you justify buying one?

There's no getting around the fact t🥀hat this is still an extremely expensive device. So you'll really need to consider how much of a benefit it will be to your life having a phone that expands into a tablet-esque screen. One thing's clear straight away though, the Fold 3 is shaking off the feeling of it being a cool novelty concept product with a few rough edges that isn't quite ready for anyone but the keenest early adopter of the coolest tech the world can offer. Eve𒅌n though I only had a few hours with it, this feels like the polished final product I wanted the first two Folds to be.

If you're regularly on the move and are tired of traveling with a smartphone an🌠d a tablet, especially if you're paying extra for a data SIM on that tablet to stay online, then the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 could be a smart investment especially as a productivity tool that doubles up as a device with a decent camera and entertainment features. In addition, the displays have improved and the IPX8 rating adds some assurance against a slight drizzle or leaky drink in your bag, while the enhanced durability of the display means it should keep you going for a good few years.

Stay tuned for our full verdict at a later date.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 launches August 27 for $1799/£1599 for the 256GB model or $1899/£1699 for the 512GB one in Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Green. . Be sure to check out our Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 hands-on preview too.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Samsung isn't giving up on the foldable phone dream, and with the newly-announced Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G landing on August 27, we're seeing prices drop to much more affordable levels. I've just tried the new compact foldable phone for myself and have come away suitably impressed with an improved device that moves foldable phones that little bit closer to the mainstream. We've also just posted a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 hands-on preview if you're interested in the other model.

The Flip 3 is less expensive thanᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ expected, particularly compared to the Fold 3 - that one's still a seriously pricey phone at $1,699/£1,599. By contrast, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes in at $999/£949. Far from what I'd call cheap, but that's still less than what you would have paid at launch for some favorite flagship phones like the Note 20 Ultra, S21 Ultra, or iPhone Max Pro. Plus, you're getting something much more unique here. This phone is much more impressive than the previous Flip when opened up.

An incredibly versatile set of display options

For a start, there's a rather stunning 120Hz display, which is double the refresh rate of the previous model. With the old phone, it felt like you were paying a premium for the foldable tech, and then losing🔯 out a little on the phone itself, but that's no longer the case. Now we're getting that smooth scrolling experience we've come to expect over the last couple of years when using any flagship Samsung/OnePlus device (I'm still baffled at the iPhone sticking with 60Hz). It feels like you wouldn't be making a compromise by taking the plunge on the Galaxy Flip 3.

The resolution hasn't changed, but the HDR performance has - we're getting a Dynamic AMOLED display over a Super AMOLED one, which is capable of a wider range of colors and with less bluಞe light emission too. That means it's better for your eyes.

The resistance on the hinge now allows for a 🐻wider choice of viewing angles

The Galaxy Z 𝔍Flip 3 has a 6.7-inch internal display again, but the bezel around it has been greatly reduced. So much so that the phone itself is slightly smaller than last time around.

The phone's edges have been rouꦯnded off a bit more as well, so I found the phone quite slippery in the hand, as most modern phones are, so it's certainly going to need a case to avoid getting dropped. Especially if you're going to try a𓃲nd open it one-handed like you might have done with an old Motorola Razr.

That's because it's surprisingly stiff to open one-handed. However, the resistance on the hinge now allows for a wider choice of viewing angles when yoꩵu put the phone down, which is much better for video calls.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

The crease in the center of the screen is still there though, an▨d I think it's going to be a year or two until Samsung works out that particular wrinkle. But in all honesty? I barely noticed it. When the screen goes black it's at its most noticeable, but I stopped seeing it when navigating menus or browsing on Chrome. It's not that distracting to the touch eit🙈her, and with it being in the center it won't be much of an issue as the lower third of the screen is where most touches and swipes take place.

When folded halfway into an L-shape, the Flip 3 is great fo𓂃r video calls or lining up photos. The display will 🔯change automatically if you're watching video content and while very small, if you have it on a table nearby, it's very watchable for short content on a break or commute.

The redesigned front cover display shows much more inform♉ation as well - it offers a 1.9-inch screen that’s four times bigger than the previous model. It’s still fairly small, but large enough to comfortably display track information on Spotify, show a WhatsApp message, or even scroll through a longer email. In short, there’s much more you can do now w🦄ithout even opening the phone up at all.

Small yet mighty

The Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 has plenty to consider beyond those impressive display fe🐈atures, of course. So let's quickly round up a few other specs and features before we get our hands on a review unit to test more extensively.

The selfie camera is a respectable 10MP, which makes for high-quality video calls too. And if you use the video call app, Google Duo, the camera automatically zooms in and out to fit you in the frame or allow more people to join in next to you. Again, that L-shape mode is great for quick calls and not having to hold the phone during or prop it up against something (because they always fall over when I try to do this).

The main camera isn't bad either. If you’re spending close to a grand on a phone, foldable or not, you really want to see a great main camera on the phone too, and the 12MP snapper on the back is happy to oblige. I was limited to testing it in a well-li🉐t demo area, so I'll hold off a full verdict on the cameras until I can get it out in the wild and test it in the dark too, but so far so good. There was plenty of rich detail and reasonable zoom performance on display.

You don't need to worry a෴bout taking snaps near water, either - the Flip and Fold 3 are set to become the first foldable phones with IPX8 rating for water resistance, which instantly makes them more appealing as a pricey phone with one less vulnerability.

What about gaming, then? There were no games installed on my demo unit, but I'll be sure to put it through its paces at a later stage, as that tabletop mode could be quite interesting when paired with a controller. Maybe it'll make its way onto our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming phones list.

Prime portability

The colors available for the Flip 3 feel fairlꦫy muted, but that seems to be the trend across the brands right now on most flagships. Phantom Black, Green, Lavender, and Cream will be available at your usual mobile phone retailers, but the White, Pink, and Gray will be Samung.com exclusives. Of t🃏he ones I had a look at, the lavender and cream models seem to be the standouts.

Samsung will be selling a wide selection of specially-designed folding covers to ♊pick up alongside your new phone, and the ♓palette here offers some much-needed punch. If you like the look of the phone already, clear covers will be available too.

If you're poppi✨ng it 🌠into a pocket solo, a handbag, or super small clutch, you'll absolutely adore it

Unlike🌱 the Fold 3 series, which sees a regular phone fold out into a tablet, the Flip 3's charm lies in it folding into a much more compact square design then folding out into something akin to one of today's larger phones. It really is tiny when folded and doesn't feel too thick either, although if you keep your phone and wallet in the same pocket you might find it's a bit more of a squeeze. But if you're popping it i😼nto a pocket solo, a handbag, or super small clutch, you'll absolutely adore it.

After getting my hands on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 for a few hours, it's beginning to look like ಌthe foldables market might just have a chance at breaking through sooner than we thought. Sure, the bigger Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 might be the device that has me drooling more as we chase that futuristic horizon (just give me that foldable tablet from Westworld, already damnit!), but the Z Flip 3 is much more affordable (relatively speaking that is) and comes with enough unique features to be genuinely useful beyond the cool factor of having a foldable phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 5G will be released August 27 and . Be sure to check out our Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 hands-on preview too.

<![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> Samsung has just announced not one, but two brand new smartwatches for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series, and we've had sꦏome hands-on time with both already. There's quite a big difference in price, but not much between them at all in terms of performance and features.

The newly-named Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is the follow-up to the Watch 3 from last year and, aesthetically, is pretty similar to that model. Namely, it features that chunky, rotating bezel design w♛e’ve come to know and love. This will be priced from £359.

The other model, simply🍃 called Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, looks very different - it loses the rotating bezel and large metal frame. It's a lighter, cleaner design with a much more discrete finish than its pricier counterpart. Prices for this model start at just £259.

With a price difference like that, you'd be forgiven for thinking one would🎀 be a significantly watered-down version. Maybe with less power, features, and storage. However, you'd be wrong. The internal spec of the cheaper Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 matches that of the newly-dubbed Galaxy Watch 4 Classic at every turn. You’re just getting that thicker chassis with a rotating bezel on the latter.

Instead of a rotating bezel to navigate the menus, you can slide your finger around the edge of the screen to navigate in a similar manner. It’s not as i🃏mmediate as the bezel, but it works well enough. The screen will inevitably end up with more smudgy fingerprints though.

The bulkier des🌄ign has another advantage beyond nailing that traditional watch feel - protection

And while I’d argue you’re paying quite a lot extra for that feature, the bulkier design has another advantage beyond nailing that♏ traditional watch feel - protection. For some reason, I’m almost constantly catching the edge of my Galaxy Watch 3 against surfaces, tables, door edges, the lot. With the sturdy surrounding bezel and metal frame around the watch itself, I've fortunately avoided damaging the screen glass. I’ve not even seen any dings or scratches in the metal either, so I’d assume the Watch 4 Classic will be able to withstand my accidental bashings too.

As fo꧟r the much more open design of the Watch 4, I’d be very concerned for the exposed scree𓆉n, much like I am with all the Apple Watches out there with curved glass going around the edge of the display. That being said, I'm sure there's a lot of you out there that aren't utter clutzes and are capable of walking through a door without bashing your watch.

The OS upgrade we've been looking for?

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series answers the call for a much-needed new operating system along with some new U🏅I enhancements, as the last few watches have all felt too similar. The new Wear OS has been built jointly with Google and it is now compatible with the proper Google Play store.

This is a big deal. Now when you download apps on your phone, you’ll se🍬e an option to download any relevant versions to your watch too rather than having to download apps from the rather slim pickings of the Samsung store via a separate a🌱pp.

More to the point, we’re finally, finally getting proper Google Maps support on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 with an on-screen map and directions at the same time. The built-in compass seems to help point you in th♚e right direction in real-time too. If you’ve tried navigating while walking around a new city using thꦕird-party apps on the older Galaxy Watches, this alone might be a reason to upgrade. We might finally be able to leave our phone in our pocket and see where we're supposed to be going. I never really trust relying on just audio directions over Bluetooth, especially when there's a long pause between directions only to find it's stopped tracking your movements when you do take a look. So yes, I'm very much ready to put this to the test properly.

You’ll want to pack the apps into the watch too as they’re much easier to browse on the watch itself now. Simply swipe up and you can scroll through a long vertical list of icons. Sure, it’s a feature lifted from Apple Watches, but stra🌊ight away I found it much better than cycling through the usual 🌞menus to find the app I want.

Tech boost

Storage has been doubled to 16GB this year, which is nice to have, especially with the ♛additional apps we might want to download.𒆙 They're not going to be huge files though, and even 8GB allowed for a lot of downloaded Spotify songs.

In addition, both Galaxy Watch 4 models come with a 20% increase in CPU and 50% increase in RAM which should ensure smoother scrolling and multitasking. Although we’ll have to live with the watch for a while to really see what difference this makes day-to-day, I experienced zero stuttering and everything loaded ꧋fast enough during my hand💙s-on session.

Even the screen r🅺esolution has had a mild bump, now with 10% more pixels. This results in smoother transitions an💧d scrolling.

It's not all rosy, though. Battery life is reported as lasting up to 40 hours, which is less than the two days plus we’re able to get from our (45mm) Watch 3 by around half a day. Perhaps the slightly slimmer design is wh𝔉y there's a smaller battery. Unless it's the same size, but the new OS is more of a drain.

On the otherꦰ hand, this still comfortably beats the charge time seen on the latest Ap🔯ple Watch models which last around 18 hours. You're looking at around two hours to recharge the Watch 4 from flat, too.

Stylish new straps

It's worth mentioning the new strap that comes with both models. Instead of leather, there&🔯apos;s a synthetic rubber strap this time around. But don't pull that face. Yes, a lot of rubber straps have that horrible finish that sticks to your skin and pulls at wrist hair, but this feels🌺 much more breathable and with a soothingly smooth finish that's much better than the strap on something like the Gear Sport.

This does mean the default leather strap seen on the Watch 3 has been replaced, but give🎐n the increasing number of fitness features on the Watch 4 (more on those below), it's clear Samsung is gearing the watch towards using it for exercise more. The leather band wasn't great for getting your sweat on, after all.

However, you can still have the best of both. There is a new optional watch strap sold separately with a cool two-tone design - leather on one side, then this smooth rubber material on the skin-contacting side. So you get to hit the gym anꦉd wear it out to dinner in style, too. Hopefully, this won't be too expensive as it looks like a genuinely attractive accessory. Not 🅠that the rubber strap looks unattractive.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is gunning for your Fitbit

Samsung is leaning even harder on the fitness angle this time around, with a new body composition analysis tool looking to provide one of the most comprehensive fitness smartwatches on the market. And given the Apple 🍸Watch has been going much the same way in recent tim꧂es, I imagine Fitbit will be increasingly concerned about losing market share.

To run a ‘scan’ for the body composition tool, you simply enter your height and weight, then hold two buttons. This allows the watch to send a very mild current through your body to provide results on body fat and the like. Ye🗹p, it’s basically witchcraft.

Hopefully, the Watch 4 has fired the little animated chap say🤡ing ‘Great!’ when I got up to make a brew - the sarcastic little asshat

Expect to find other features as seen in last year's model too like blood oxyg🍌en and blood pressure monit🐎oring, in addition to a heart-rate monitor.

I was unable to test other exercise features during my hands-on session, but♏ I'm hoping for some improved performance from the gyroscope compared to the Watch 3. I found the latter a bit lethargic on responses to stretches as it would often ignore the first handful of squats or twists when I’d react to the (optional) hourly prompts for a quick stretch or two when sitting in a chair all day. Hopefully, the Watch 4 has fired the little animated chap saying ‘Great!’ when I got up to make a brew though - the sarcastic little asshat.

Should you pre-order the Galaxy Watch 4?

The new Galaxy Watch 4 series looks to be making a range of neat improvements. I am geeking out on Google Maps properly coming to a smartwatch. And while the lack of a rotating bezel and thick frame might make the Watch 4 more vulnerable to clumsy clashes than the Watch 4 Classic, that low pr𓂃ice is incredibly appealing.

If you already own a Galaxy Watch 3 (which currently tops our 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best smartwatch guide), you should probably wait for the full review to see if it’s worth upgrading. For An🍷droid mobile users looking for a quality smartwatch experience with a range of impressive fitness features though, the two Galaxy Watch 4 models might be tough to beat this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are both set to release on August 27 and there's a . We've got a few more hands-on reports you might be interested in today. <![CDATA[ Latest from GamesRadar+ AU in Samsung ]]> The Samsung QN95A is a hell of an introduction to the screen giant's new Neo QLED panel; a next-generation flatscreen illuminated by a densely clustered Mini-LED backlight, rather than a conventional full-array or edge lighting. The difference this innovation makes is profound and the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best QLED TV lists a🐽cross the internet will start to feature a number of such TVs, I'm sure.

Couple this with an advanced AI-powered Neo Quantum 4K processor that uses Deep Learning, and an Intelligent Mode which auto-pilots the screen for the smoothest viewing experien🔴ce, and the QN95A showcases Samsung at the top of its TV game.

As befits a 4K flagship for 2021, there are other attractions too. The set debuts Game Bar- a new interface that allows players to tweak and tinker, meaning it really can be the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best gaming TV - plus an improved version of Samsung’s OTS+ mu💧ltichannel Object Track Sound system.

Features & Design

The QN95A packs a lot of new tech into a chassis just 25.9mm deep. It’s a smart-looking aff☂air, with an inconsequential bezel and tidy wraparound frame. The whole shebang sits o💮n a central pedestal.

The TV comes with two remote controls: a standard zapper with the usual plethora of buttons, and a slim a🦩lternative that has a solar cell panel that charges using indoor lighting (and a USB C port). The compact option is the one to go for as it’s th🔜e only controller (that I could determine) which calls up Samsung’s Game Bar UI.

Of course, what immediately sets the QN95A apart from its stablemates is the One Coꦏnnect Box. This outboard junction has had a redesign, but it’s still a considerable unit. The One Connect Box delivers sound, vision, and power to the panel via a single fibre optic cable. Therefore, games consoles and other TV sources c꧅onnect to the Box, rather than the set.

All four HDMI inputs provided are v2.1 certified and support 4K 120Hz video from PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. There’s also ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), 💛and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) on board, with eARC available on HDMI 3 for connection to soundbars and external audio systems. Also provided is an optical digital audio output, three USB connectors, and Ethernet. Wireless support covers Bluetooth v✨4.2 and Wi-Fi, with Apple Airplay 2 compatibility.

There’s no significant change to Tizen, Samsung’s smart TV platform. Apps and smart functionality are still accessed꧙ via the launcher ribbon that runs across the bottom of the screen. You’ll find a comprehensive selec💦tion of streaming apps available, including Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, YouTube, Disney+, and Now, in addition to all the key catch-up TV services.

Samsung’s menus can be a bit labyrinthine, but the Game Bar is a dedicated interface for simplifying tweaks and adjustments. You can select a custom aspect ratio (21:9 or 32:9), monitor HDR and input lag, and so on. The latency is good: we measured input lag at 10.1ms (1080/60), in the standard Game mode. Combine this with the HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and this is already looking like a nailed-on dead-cert to be near the top of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X and 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best 120Hz 4K TV lists.

Performance

The QN95A deserves its Neo♚ QLED moniker. What we’re seeing here, courtesy of that Mini-LED backlight, is something entirely new for LED TVs, eclipsing the performance of even posh FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) models. The backlight module has been completely reimagined. With some 792 Mini LED zones🔯 at work, the screen presents a tonally uniform and aggressively bright display.

The QN95A also utilises Samsung’s most💯 advanced image processor. The Quantum 4K processor with multi-intelligence deep learning has 16 times the capacity of its predecessor to optimise video processing. Small wonder it looks so good when upscaling HD sources to 2160p.

HDR support covers HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+ Adaptive, the latter an update of the HDR10+ dynamic metadata standard, which uses the TV light sensor to manage HDR. But there isn't a provision for Dolby Vision, which is careless given that Samsung has partnered with Xbox, and only Xbox is rolling out Dolby Vision HDR games. Overall though, the set’s HDR performance is terrific. We measured peak🅷 brightness o🌄n the Standard image preset with local dimming on a default Standard setting, at 1300 nits. You can coax even more from the panel if you set Local Dimming on High. This means the screen doesn’t have to aggressively tone map content mastered with a 1000 nits ceiling (which is the broadcast standard).

Tౠhere’s a host of image presets available, but we suggest sticking with the Intelligent Mode, which rea꧋lly brings out the best in the set.

The TV boasts an excellent black level performance, presentinܫg letterbox bars in solid black rather than grey, with a greatly reduced chance of blooming around bright objects.

What constantly catches the eye is the superlative detail, however. A run-through of Ma🌌rvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on the PS5 is a visual revelation. The texture of Spidey’s costume looks almost tangible. Exquisite pin-pricks of light enliven Peter Parker’s eyes. Similarly, the sunlit NTC vistas are spectacular, if often startlingly bright. Indeed, this is the best bright room LED TV you can buy right now. It maintains pop, colour and contrast even in rooms with high levels of ambient light.

Intelligent Mode also helps audio, adding weight and impact. The TV actually uses eight speakers, including two up high on the rear, for its Object Tracking Sound system. OTS+ directs and pans sound around the screen, to great effect. The need for one of the 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:best surround sound systems might not be as immediate as one might think when getting t🧸🅠his television.

Overall - should you buy it?

Believ🦩e the hype. Mini-LED really is a transformative new technology and a perfect complement to Samsung’s Quantum Dot colour technology. It’s not just impressive HDR, but it boosts SDR too. For bright room viewing, this screen is unbeatable. Samsung has upped its game for players too. Unlike OLED, there’s no worry about screen burn, as Neo QLED is immune from such irritations.

We rate this Neo QLED 4K HDR screen 🍃a worthy flagship. The adoption of Mini-LED sets a new standard for Samsung’s QLED fleet, offering dynamic, almost three-dimensional imagery. It’s also ideal for bright room viewing and gaming sessions.

A quartet of 4K 120fps inputs, plus the new Game Bar interface, should sate most power users. That said, the One Connect Box will only really appeal if you’re wanting to wall-mount and need to reduce the amount of cabling going to the screen. The lack of Dolby Visio🀅n will also be a major turn-off for film fans.

Overall though, we’re sol♐d on Neo QLED; 4K HDR has j𝐆ust received a major upgrade.
