The basic plot of the animated film is that for generations, a trio of Hunters have kept the world safe from demons through song, creating a barrier that demons are largely stuck behind. In the modern day, this responsibility falls to Kp🍬op group Huntrix – Rumi൲, Mira, and Zoey. And just when they're close to keeping the demons out for good, a demon boy band comes on the scene to screw it all up.

It's a compelling premise taken to extreme heights by the nuances of the social dynamics between Huntrix members, some light explorati✤on of Korean idol culture, catchy original music with slick beats and killer hooks, and captivating animation that blen𝓀ds 2D and 3D with obvious inspiration from fellow Sony films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse.

How it's done, done, done

I could go on and on about how the movie's love for going from serious, somewhat realistic expressions to cartoonish ones and back draws a꧅ straight line between it and Japanese anime, the clever ways it plays with camera placement to shift perspective, or even the wildly impressive tech that must be under the hood to deal with the various textures and dangling objects – seriously, zoom in on those clothes and count just how many bits and bobs the Huntrix girls have hanging from them in any given outfit.

But honestly? The strongest argument I can make is for you to take a moment and watch an early sequ෴ence from the film set to "How It's Done," one of several earworms from the soundtrack. Frankly, there are even more convincing segments, but the movie's songs are all narratively entangled to the point that anything beyond this would be a serious spoiler. (For my money, the final Saja Boys song has seen the most replay, but your mileage may vary.)

Now, admittedly, I am a su🔯cker for much of what KPop Demon Hunters has to offer. 🍸I inherently love a smart musical, anything that plays with the boundaries and limitations (or lack thereof) of animation as a medium immediately piques my interest, and to top it all off, it's an original IP and not some adaptation of a toy or the like. Not that I'm against that on its own merits.

It's just nice to have variety, and KPop Demon Hunters often feels like an earlier dra💛ft of something that the system might normally water down for the sake of palatability. There are any number of potential quibbles that the hypothetical suits with control of the purse strings may have had. Just off the top of the dome, here are a series of ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚexamples that might have been uttered:

• It's too dark for an animated family movie and there are at least two or maybe three scenes that should be cut entirely
• It's too Korean and should have more broad appeal
• There should be less music overall or it should be downplayed in the marketing
• Is there some way to further center the male lead?

And so on and so forth. Instead, the movie is colorful and unique, funny and heartbreaking, with an inc✱redible soundtrack and stellar animation. And while it's certainly standing on the shoulders of giꦫants, there's nothing exactly like it out there, to its credit. In fact, my biggest problem with the movie (now that the soundtrack is officially released) isn't that big at all, but I sure do wish Netflix would pick a single stylization of the movie's name and stick with it. Is it Kpop Demon Hunters, KPop Demon Hunters, or K-Pop Demon Hunters? The world may never know.

After over two decades of omitting blooper reels at the end of their animated movies, Pixar has created a set of outtakes for the upcoming ali🥀en movie Elio. Although the idea of putting together a reel of computer-animated outtakes was conceℱived whilst making Toy Story in 1995, the first time an animated blooper reel played on the big screen was at the end of the 1998 movie A Bug’s Life. Fans loved seeing their favorite animated characters show more of their personality and have fun 'off-camera', so the studio decided to repeat the process in T🐲oy Story 2 (1999), Monsters, Inc. (2001), and The Incredibles (2004).

Midjourney's tools pull from existing material to gain information used to create new (sometimes strikingly similar) images and other media. Disney🦩 and Universal are targeting Midjourney's apparently indiscriminate data collection, alleging that it utilizes copyrighted material in ways that are not protected by current law.

"We are bullish on the promise of AI technology and optimistic about how it can be used responsibly as a tool to further human creativity, but piracy is piracy, and the fact that it's done by an AI company does not make it any less infringing," says Horacio Gutierrez, executive vice president and chief legal officer for Disney said in a state🃏ment.

NBCUniversal executive vice president and general counsel Kim Hꦕarris adds that the com🌄pany is suing Midjourney to "protect the hard work of all the artists whose work entertains and inspires us and the significant investment we make in our content."

Disney and Universal are citing numerous examples of characters and 🍃concepts owned by the two studios being recreated by Midjourney's generation tools, from Bart Simpson, to Iron Man, Buzz Lightyear, Shrek, ꦅand even the dragons from How to Train Your Dragon.

That's exactly what the film's co-director Maggie Kang, who is joined by Chris Applehans of Wish Dragon fame, had in mind, telling , "I just wanted to see something different from the Marvel female superheroes that were just sexy and cool and badass. In one of the trailer's final shots, seen above, it looks a heck of a lot like one of the Yautja hunters is wearing a cape made of Xenomorph tℱails (h/t ), sugꦏgesting that this Predator in particular has encountered - and bested - his share of the deadly, acid-blooded aliens.

Of course, it could simply be a stylistic choice meanꦛt to unofficially nod to Alien fans. But there's a lot of evidence to suggest that those are in fact Xenomorph trophies.

Co-directors Nick Park and Steve Box referred to the movie as the world's "first vegetarian horror film", and it combines typical Aardman stop-motion charm with classic monster movie parody. Grated Expectations

Wallace and Gromit are joined by some new charact🌸ers for the new movie, including Helena Bonham Carter's Lady Campanula Tottington and a perfect turn from Ralph Fiennes as Lady Tottington's boorish suitor Lord Victor Quartermaine. However, new additions don't detract from the franchise's signature tongue-in-cheek humor that had previously made shorts The Wrong Trousers, A Grand Day Out, and A Close Shave so beloved.

When I sat down to rewatch Curse of🤡 the Were-Rabbit recently, I realized that it had probably been about 20 years since I last watched it, too. I was eight years old when it was first released, but I found myself still able to quote various chunks of dialogue back at the screen ("It was arson… Someone arsin' around" has been seared into my brain for the past two decades, and for good reason). It's hard to express just how formative Wallace and Gromit was for my sense of humor, and it's the sort of film that's a joy to revisit after such a long time.

It's wall-to-wall gags, with as many visual jokes hiding in painst✤akingly crafted claymation sets as there are🌺 in the movie's dialogue. Wallace's book collection, featuring titles like 'Grated Expectations', 'East of Edam', and 'Waiting for Gouda', is a particular highlight, along with a brilliant exchange between Victor and Wallace that hinges on the similarities in pronunciation between "toupée" and "to pay". It's harmless, silly, clever humor that's aged like a good block of Somerset cheddar.

Worth the wait

The film is littered with hilariously on-the-nose movie re🔯ferences, too, from King Kong (when the Were-Rabbit grasps Lady Tottington in one giant, fluffy paw on the roof of Tottington Hall), to Jaws (when a hysterical crowd is brought to sense by a sage old man), and, most obviously with its full moon transformations, The Wolf Man.

The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was Wallace and Gromit's first big-screen adventure, and only animation studio Aardman's second venture into feature-length territory following 2000's Chicken Run. And, although both films were a commercial and critical success – Curse of the Were-Rabbit won Best Animated Feature at the Oscars 💟and grossed over $192 million at the global box office – it didn't spell the start of a trend for the studio: hapless inventor Wallace and his smart, mute mutt wouldn't get another theatrical outing for another 19 years, when Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was released.

Vengeance Most Fowl proved to be just as much of a joy to watch in my 20s as Curse of the Were-Rabbit was on first-time viewing as a kid, and on my recent rewatch. If we only see Wallace and G♓romit on the big screen every two decades, then that's fair enough – it's worth the wait every time.

The first teaser�ꦉ� for Shrek 5 is here - and so is Zendaya.

Shrek 4, aka Shrek Forever After, premiered in 2010 - and it definitely wasn't my favorite of the franchise (it also has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score out of all four). However, now is the best time for a new Shrek movie and I could not be more excited. The world needs good, wholesome fun and maybe a few farꦏt jo📖kes. It's to the Hitchcock well where co-directors Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham return for upcoming movie Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl – as part of a long-standing creative proce🧜ss for Aardman that arrives at the beginning of any pro🦄duction.

"We always start with that, don't we? We always talk about movies," Park begins in an interview with GamesRadar+, with Crossingham dubbing their new feature's overall stylistic approach as a "fꦛilm noir" one.

Park chimes in with his ow🐻n suggestion of "gnome noir", a nod to Wallace's new smart gnome invention in Vengeance Most Fowl. After the directors ran through their key foundational texts for Vengeance Most Fowl, it's clear that it's an apt description.

"Rebecca was a good one," Park says in reference to Hitchcock's 1940 Laurence Olivier-starring roman🤡ce thriller. "Often the way Feathers [McGraw] poses or comes in and out of the light" was a pointed nod towards the way Rebecca's Mrs. Danvers (Judith Anderson) "moves around like a mannequin and [says] very little" according t🤪o the Wallace and Gromit creator.

Park and Crossingham also namechecked a surprising cross-section of works that influenced Vengeance Most Fowl, including 1951 adve⛄nture The African Queen, 1960's Village of the Damned, and Cape Fear.

You only 🉐have to see the film's synopsis to see those fingerprints all over tꦑhe film, if not its iconic clay figures.

It reads, "When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle siniste🔯r forces."

Although I didn't know it at the time, I was having my first anxiety attack – which is something that still happens from time to time today. They are always surreal events that are diffꦬicult to describe, but I put it that they are like out-of-body experiences, just ones where you are overwhelmed with confusion and terror. During these attacks, it feels like I'm looking at myself from another room or from up high, desperately fighting to get back to reality.

Which is perhaps why I was so taken with the anxiety attack scene in Disney's smash hit sequel澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询: Inside Out 2 earlier this year, which remains 澳洲幸运5开奖号码历史查询:2024's highest-grossing movie at the box office. Now, don't get me wrong, there have been authentic panic attack scenes before inꩲ both cinema and television history, with The Sopranos to Ted Lasso coming to mind – but none have felt m♑ore truthful, more affecting, more downright honest than the one in Pixar's latest feature.

Picking up with Riley two years after she moved house, we see her start high school and head to hockey camp which is where, you guessed it, the 'puberty alarm' goes off. Enter new emotions Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, and most importantly Anxiety, voiced by the always brilli🎶ant Stranger Things star Maya Hawke.

As Riley aims to impress the cool hockey players she is desperate to befriend, at one point during a poor performance during a tryout match, she hurts another girl which sends her to the penalty box. With Anxiety frantically worrying 💙about what to do, Riley h♐as a panic attack. She starts breathing heavily and crying, whilst inside her head Anxiety desperately swarms around the console, with Joy and the other emotions unable to break through – all of which is beautifully brought to life with animation. It's all quite spectacular really, leaving me shaken.

All About... Anxiety?

But where did the idea for the scene come🦹 from? As director Kelsey Mann tells GamesRadar+ during an interview earlier this month, as soon as he came up with the character of Anxiety, the filmmaker knew that he therefore had to include a panic attack scene – something both he and others could relate to.

He explains: "I was drawn to Anxiety immediately because I can relate to her, both when I was Riley's age and now. I started on this film pre-pandemic in January 2020 and at that time research showed that teenagers were having high levels of anxiety, espec♕ially girls, so I thought there was something there, that the world could use a story about this. Then we went into the pandemic and it made everything worse for everyone, not just teenagers."

Mann's pitch though for the movie, with this scene being a critical part of that, was admittedly unexpecte🅠d, being inspired by the classic 1950 drama All About Eve, which follows an ambitious young fan as they start to be a part of an aging Broadway star's life. The similarit🌺ies between that and Inside Out 2 may not at first seem obvious, especially if we are just focusing on the panic attack scene, but for Mann it was very clear.

As he tells us: "I wanted to do something different from the first 🍌film so I pitched it as a takeover movie inspired by All About Eve. We looked at what anxiety is and what it can do when it goes too far, which led us to the panic attack scene. What do🎶es it do to your body when it’s all over the console? What happens when we hit the extreme?"

Which is what we see in this m🐬oment, with Anxiety speeding around the co💖nsole so fast in an effort to regain control, that she forms a tornado around it.

This prevents the other emotions from being able to break through, being left unable to help both Anxiety and Riley. It's a striking image that perfectly captures the lack of control y♚ou feel during a panic attack but for Mann, the tornado also represents that Anxiety is fighting with everything she can to help the teenager out: "We like that tornado effect because Anxiety wants to do the best for Riley. My favorite line in that scene is when Joy pulls Anxiety off, she says 'I’m so sorry Joy, I was just trying to protect her'. I love that line so much, they are like parents arguing over how best to take care of their child but they're both doing it from a place of love. That tornado is something she couldn't stop, she was trying to help but got overwhelmed and I feel that as a human."

Getting back to the present

Throughout the scene, the animation makes clever use of both depth of field and lighting to isolate Riley from her surroundings, with the background shaking whilst becoming colder and brighter. Then when she comes out of it, he𝓡r surroundings come back into focus with the lighting growing warmer, as she begins to calm down, finding her way back into reality. It's all very smart with every single element coming into play here, so it's no surprise that this panic attack scene was the very last one th💎e team finished.

Mann emphasizes that it was a monumental effort to get it right and that they wouldn't have been able to do so if the various teams weren't on the same page: "It's the last thing we finished because we wanted to g🅺et it right and it's very complicated. You are dealing with a lot and everybody has to agree to go in one direction as if one department does their own thing, it won't work. The more Riley amps up in her panic attack, the more the depth of field is going out, but it slowly starts to come back into focus and gets warmer too as she comes out of it. The colors start to soften the more she becomes present."

Continuing, Mann details the thought that went into bringing to life the moment Riley starts to come out of her panic attack, wanting to ensure it is as realistic as possible: "Anxiety is all about perceived threat so you are having a response that you're dying, so a lot of the techniques you use to snap out of it are to stay in♊ the present. There's a beautiful shot where she puts her hand on the bench and she's doing that to use her sense of touch to get her to the now. She's using that touch, she's listening to the skates on the ice, she's feeling the warmth of the sun on her face, and just trying to get in the present."

Naturally, a pivotal scene like th🎃is "changed a lot" during production says Mann, with it not being as apparent during the early stages that this was a full-blown panic attack. The location of the scene also changed, with ꦬthe filmmaker telling us that originally she was going to be in the rafters to bring in some "physical stakes" too. However, ultimately Mann soon realized that "the physical stakes weren’t as impactful as the emotional ones" so the team cut it completely back, resulting in the final scene that we all saw in theaters.

It's clear that it's one of Mann's favorite scenes from the movie and something that he is very proud of, becoming emotional when he speaks about the many people who have thanked him for it from across the world. As he concludes, it has helped him realize a childhood dream, following in the footsteps of one 🦂of his heroes: "It's why I wanted to do this in the first place. I'm a huge fan of the Muppets and I remember reading a book about Jim Henson. He had this wonderful quote like 'I hope to be one of the people in this world who makes it a better place for having been there'. I remember reading that as a kid and going, I want to do that. So to feel that I have now done that, I couldn’t be happier."

"He wasn't part of the first idea, to be honest," Wallace and Gromit creator and Vengeance Most Fowl co-director Park tells GamesRadar+ of the rubber-glove-wearing st🤪ick-up artist who infamously made his bow as𓃲 Wallace's nefarious lodger.

"We started writing, in the early day🐽s, a story about Wallace inventing a smart gnome – something that could help Gromit out in the garden. It was great fun, but working with [writer] Mark Burton and [co-director Merlin Crossingham], it was a story that was just lacking something," Park says.

"We needed something more villainous, a villain with a strong motivation. Then it all started to become apparent. People have been asking about 'will he return?💝' for years. It was really our own decision."

Merlin Crossingham adds, "It was a gift. It opened up all sorts of possibilities that we were struggliཧng with. He was the key that unlocked all that."

Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl sees Feathers McGraw emerging from the shadows to pull the strings on Wallac💛e's latest invention – a smart gnome that ܫ"develops a mind of its own."

As per the film's synopsis, "When it emerges that a vengeful figure from t♋he past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to b🍌attle sinister forces."

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance 🌱Most Fowl will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day at 6:10pm and on Netflix in other regions on January 3, 2025.

The premise was simple enough, a hero’s journey with some light coming-of-age that saw Moana battle a giant crab and team up with Dwayne '✅The Rock' 🔯Johnson’s shape-shifting demi-god Maui to save the day.

Not only did Auli’i Cravalho’s eponymous voice performance become the stunning heart of the film, but Johnson proved to be absolutely perfect casting, leaning into his signature swagger and charm while nailing the pu🦂nchlines as the arrogant and selfish demi-god𝄹 who comes to see the error of his ways.

Both of the leads return for sequel Moana 2, which is set three years after the events of the first with the residents of the island now regularly journeying beyond the reef and Moana has further come into her own as a master navigator, now le🌊ading a crew. There’s also a new addition to the family, as her parents Tui (Temuera Morrison) and Si🌳na (Nicole Scherzinger) now also have a sweet new adoring sister Simea (Khaleesi Labert-Tsuda).

But all is not well in the turquoise-watered Oceania paradise, and Moana teams back up with her old pal Maui to find the lost island 🍷of Motufetu, which has been cursed by the god Nalo. It's down to her to break the curse and reunite her people.

Treading water

The beats it follows are similar to the first but the relationship between Moana and Maui has sweetly evolved, with him affording her the respect she ♑so begrudgingly won in the first film. But unfortunately, this makes for a less funny dynamic between the pair whose previous odd couple antics were a deep well of humor.

And whilst the secondary antagonist in the first film, Jermaine Clements' giant crab who loved all things shiny, was also hilarious, here goddess of the underworld Mantagi (Awhimai Fraser) is less fun. But with Disney having spent so many years with vi👍llains who were morally grey or the victims of circumstance, it is refreshing at least to have one that is so straightforwardly diabolical and employs an evil cackle with scꦡenery-chewing aplomb.

It's a shame then that we spend limited time with Mantagi and the rich mythology that surrounds her, instead getting caught up in more shenanigans with the Kakamora, the diminutiv👍e coconut warriors from the first film who, while cute, just feel like a stale retreading of what was delightfully fresh when they first came to screens.

A dynamic duo

When you have a duo as dynamic as Moana and Maui, time spent in their company is always going to be a joy, but there is a notable absence in the form of Lin-Manuel Miranda. The composer w♏ho wrote bona fide bop 'You’re Welcome' for the first film hasn’t returned, and though 'We’re Back' ꩲis a very catchy tune and Maui’s 'Can I Get a Chee Hoo' is solid fun, there is nothing that quite reaches the heady heights of Johnson rapping about his origin story in 'You’re Welcome' or the moving ballad 'How Far I’ll Go' where Moana expressed her longing to see more of the world beyond her island’s shores.

But even if they aren’t quite the earworms of their predecessors, there is still a wonderful cultural specificity to their lyrics, telling tales of ancient Polynesian myths and practices that read as authentic. This extends across the voice cast, with a talented crop of newcomers including Rose Matafeo, David Fane, and Awhimai Fras෴er, whose indigenous roots speak to the film’s commendable commitment to honoring the culture that it dr🍎aws inspiration from.

It also leaves the door ajar regarding opening up this world further. There are plenty of opportunities to tell more stories from the Oceania treasure trove and there are hints at more installations, and a long speculated Disney+ series coming t𒁃o fruition would be welcome news.

In the meantime, we know for sure that Moana will actually be taking a step backwards with Johnson reprising his role as Maui in a live-action remake of the first film. That news does scream brazen cash grab and to a certain extent, Moana 2 does not disavow that notion being so similar in form to the first film, also leaning into adorable side characters like Pua the pig, the Kakamora, and Heihei the rooster whose merch with undoubtedly be appearing in many child's Christmas stockings. But Moana herself 🐲is a strong enough protagoniཧst, with such a sincere and pure heart of a hero, that you stay rooting for her and for her movies.

Viktor picks up a mask that seems to be a nod to The Phantom of the Opera; Jinx waves a revolutionary flag akin to something out of Les Miserables; and Ambessa and Mel appear to be referencing Julius Ceasar.

What ties all of those references together? Well, all of those plays are tragedies, and all of them are stories where the main character dies. Director Pierre Perifel and producer Damon ꦺRoss break down the trailer and tell us all about the upcoming Mission: Impossible-inspired movie with a new all-female group.

The clip, which you can check out below, opens with The Bad Guys robbing a bank in an international setting, with Mr. Wolf caught in a high-speed police chase in a black Mustang, very reminiscent of the Nicolas Cage movie Gone in 60 Seconds. But then, five years later after serving a prison sentence, Wolf and his team have 'gone goo💦d' but are not enjoying life on the right side as they struggle to get jobs or make any money at all. That's when they meet The Bad Girls who convince them, or rather force them, to take on one more job.

When asked why they chose to include an all-female group this time, Perifel says they "wanted𒐪 to play with something else than the typical James Bond male villain". ꧒Ross points out that the group name 'The Bad Girls' then came naturally.

So, who voices The Bad Girls? The filmmakers confirm that our ears are no🔯t deceiving us, and those voices do in fact belong to Orange Is the New Black stars Danielle Brooks and Natasha Lyonne, as well as The Apprentice star Maria Bakalova. "Those ladies are extraordinary, so fun to work with," adds the director.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we see Mr. Shark getting into even more hilarious disguises, Mr. Piranha being called a "mango with teeth," and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of Diane Foxington. The filmmakers confirm that Diane will return adding, "She's back, and she's even cooler and better than before. I can't reveal much but she's got her own storylin🌺e in this movie." Does that mean we will see more of the Crimson Paw? We hope so! The filmmakers also reveal that Wolf and Diane’s romantic relationship will blossom, "the chemistry between the two is incredible," says Ross.

Howl’s Moving Castle, the tenth movie in Miyazaki's filmography and the fourteenth on Studio Ghibli’s roster, first hit Japanese theaters in 2004. Though based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones, the film is thematically different in that the plot is structured around a war – and it’s been said that Miyazaki was Over the last 20 years, the movie has often been regarded as an anti-war movie, wi🍒th many journalists and critics analyzing the film as it relates to present-day politics and other invasions and occupations. I hardly ever see Howl’s Moving Castle celebrated as a love story, despite Sophie and Howl’s love for each other subsequently becoming the thing that ultimately stops the war.

A heart's a heavy burden

There are so many details and intricacies that make Howl and Sophie’s romance so magical, so much so that eight-year-old me cried her eyes out when they finally sh🧜are their first kiss at the end of the film (and 31-year-old me gets tear-eyed just thinking about it). Howl and Sophie couldn’t be more different, but they end up complementing each other in a way that helps the other grow. Howl is a pretty boy, obsessed with his own beauty and vanity, and Sophie is less than confident in her looks and abilities, even when she’s in her normal, young body. Howl falls in love with Sophie despite the fact that she’s been turned into an elderly woman, and while the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" trope can be cheesy at times, there’s something so heartwarming about it here. 

When Howl and Sophie meet at the beginning of the movie, he’s warm and excited an🍃d presumably taken with her beauty – and the excitement doesn’t waver after she becomes old. Some cynical takes on the film have positꦯed that it was easy to fall in love with her because he already knew what she looked like as her normal self, but any viewer with an open heart knows that it’s about her selflessness, the way she takes care of both the castle and Howl and helps him confront the things he can’t bear to.

The other detail, perhaps the biggest one for me, is one that is often missed upon first watch. When Howl and Sophie meet at the beginning of the film, she’s being harassed by soldiers. Howl whisks her away, saying to her, "There you are, sweetheart. Sorry I’m late. I was looking everywhere for you." Upon first watch, it might just seem like Howl is saying that to get her out of an uncomfortable situation, but it’s because – at the end of the film – Sophie creates a time loop where she meets a young Howl and tells him to find her future and tells Howl to look for her. He finds her, because he spent all of those years looking for her. Because of the time loop, they are destined to be together – and he would find her in every universe. In the end, the king’s sorceress and the prince f𒉰rom the enemy kingdom decide to end the war after observing Sophie and Howl’s unconditional love for each other. We get a beautiful, final shot of the two kissing on the balcony of a new moving castle as bombs fly overhead.

Howl’s Moving Castle has many beautiful and important messages tucked inside of it, but people seem to overlook the love story – the driving force of the film, and the thing that saves the world. I recommend watching the film with your signi🎃ficant other, your best friend, or your two cats, along with a big box of tissues.

At the 30-second mark in the latest trailer (which appeared via Netflix earlier this week but was only officially revealed last night), something explodes through a sheet of glass. In League of Legends lore, Ekko is known as 'The Boy who Shattered Time'. An inventor on par with, if not surpassing, Jayce and Heimerdinger, he develops tech that allows him to rewind time briefly. That's alluded to during his fight with Jinx in season one - Ekko pulls out a po🌊cketwatch, swinging it back and forth while💯 plotting out a course of action. When he realizes it won't work, he starts over and manages to incapacitate Jinx.

Now, having been lost in the anomaly for months - an experience that clearly altered Jayce significantly - it would come as little surprise if Ekko finally emerged with that timey-wimey tech in his hands. It's a tool that some fans are war🦩y of - time-travel is a tricky narrative device to get right - but Ekko can only move the clock back a small amount, ꧂and even then, only when he can actually get to the device to activate it manually. It's not the kind of thing that threatens to rewrite Arcane in its entirety, but it's one of the last elements of the game that's most clearly missing. With that rewind moment in the trailer coupling with that already compelling theory, I'll be shocked if we don't see a do-over or two during Act 3.

Since the film is only just being written yet, we likely won't be seeing it anytime soon, maybe 2026 if we're lucky, but that's just an educated guess and assuming the script doesn't need to go through any rewrites fur🐽ther into production. The first movie came out in 2004, the second in 2018, so we are at least seeing time between the films getting shorter.

But compared to the average family-friendly animation, this is very much an upgrade.
